Infertility, affecting 15 to 25% of couples in the most developed countries, is recognized by the World Health Organization as a public health issue at a global level. Different causes are acknowledged to reduce fertility in both sexes. In particular, about 40-50% of cases recognize a male factor. Dietary habits and lifestyle are acknowledged to influence sperm quality and are therefore important modifiable factors in male reproductive health. Conditions such as overweight/obesity, impaired glucose metabolism and determinants of metabolic syndrome, together with unhealthy lifestyle behavior, i.e., smoking cigarettes and physical inactivity, are suggested to have a negative impact on male fertility. While individual elements and characteristics of the Western diet and habits are considered risk factors for male infertility, the Mediterranean diet (MD) seems to promote reproductive potential for improving sperm quality. It is also interesting to note that previous observational studies reported a positive correlation between the consumption of the single food classes of the MD pattern (i.e., vegetables and fruits, poultry, fish and seafood, whole grains, low-fat dairy products) and the quality of several sperm parameters. To evaluate the relationship between sperm parameters and MD adherence, we performed a cross-sectional study on the seminal data of 300 males (mean age 34.6 ± 9.1 years) who spontaneously referred to our center of reproductive medicine. The evaluation of adherence to MD was performed with a validated 14-point Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS) questionnaire. Our findings showed that sperm parameters such as sperm count, motility, viability and normal morphology are significantly and positively correlated with MEDAS, independently of BMI and age. In addition, the application of an ROC curve on MEDAS value vs. seminal alterations identified 6.25 as the score threshold value below which altered sperm parameters were more likely to occur [AUC = 0.096 (CI: 0.059-0.133; p < 0.00)]. Therefore, adhering to the MD with at least a MEDAS score of 6.26 increases the probability of normozoospermia. Moreover, subjects who had a MEDAS value lower than 6.25 had an Odds Ratio of 6.28 (CI = 3.967-9.945) for having at least one altered sperm parameter compared to those who were more adherent to the MD. In conclusion, our findings show that a higher adherence to the MD is associated with better semen parameters, in particular in relation to sperm count, sperm concentration, typical sperm morphology, and sperm progressive motility.

Abhydrolase domain containing 2-acylglycerol lipase (ABHD2) was recently claimed as the membrane receptor of progesterone (P4) in sperm cells, mediating cell processes such as sperm chemotaxis and acrosome reaction. Here, we investigated the role of membrane cholesterol (Chol) on ABHD2-mediated human sperm chemotaxis. Human sperm cells were obtained from twelve normozoospemic healthy donors. ABHD2-Chol interaction was modelled by computational molecular-modelling (MM). Sperm membrane Chol content was depleted by incubating cells with cyclodextrin (CD) or augmented by the incubation with the complex between CD and Chol (CD:Chol). Cell Chol levels were quantified by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Sperm migration upon P4 gradient was evaluated through the accumulation assay in a specific migration device. Motility parameters were evaluated by sperm class analyzer, whilst intracellular calcium concentration, acrosome reaction and mitochondrial membrane potential were evaluated with calcium orange, FITC-conjugated anti-CD46 antibody and JC-1 fluorescent probes, respectively. MM analysis showed the possible stable binding Chol to ABHD2, resulting in to major impact on the protein backbone flexibility. The treatment with CD was associated with a dose-dependent increase in sperm migration in a 160 nM P4 gradient, together with increase in sperm motility parameters and levels of acrosome reaction. The treatment with CD:Chol was associated with essentially opposite effects. Chol was, thus, suggested to inhibit P4-mediated sperm function through the possible inhibition of ABHD2.

OBJECTIVE: To test the hypothesis claiming an association between human papilloma virus (HPV) sperm infection and idiopathic recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). DESIGN: Multicenter retrospective case-control study. SETTING: Three university hospitals. PATIENT(S): Cases included men belonging to couples affected by first trimester idiopathic RPL. Controls included men belonging to couples with proven fertility and no history of pregnancy loss; RPL was defined as the previous loss of 2 or more pregnancies. Couples were defined as "fertile" if they achieved a full-term pregnancy within the year before enrollment in the study. All participants conceived without assistance. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): The association between HPV DNA sperm infection, as identified using polymerase chain reaction, and RPL. RESULTS: The HPV DNA sperm infection was detected in 23 of 117 cases (20%; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 13%, 28%) and in 3 of 84 controls (4%; 95% CI; 1%, 10%) (P<.001). A comparison across baseline characteristics and multiple regression analysis did not identify any potentially confounding factors. Multivariate regression models showed a significant association between HPV DNA sperm infection and RPL (adjusted odds ratio, 7.44; 95% CI: 2.08, 26.58; P=.002 [Model 1]; adjusted odds ratio, 8.96; 95% CI: 2.41, 33.44; P=.001 [Model 2]). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of HPV sperm infection was significantly higher in couples affected by RPL than in their fertile counterparts. Notably, the semen sample was infected by HPV in approximately 1 out of 5 patients.

Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are recognized endocrine disruptors. Detection of PAEs in semen from idiopathic infertile males suggests possible direct mechanisms of sperm toxicity. In this study we aimed to correlate sperm function with semen levels of PAEs. Semen samples were obtained from 100 male patients attending the Unit of Andrology and Reproductive Medicine, University Hospital of Padova, (Italy), 22 of which having a recognized history of idiopathic infertility. Compared to fertile subjects, infertile patients showed reduced levels of acrosome reaction (AR), evaluated by CD46 staining upon progesterone (P4) triggering (p < 0.001). Subjects showing positive detection of PAEs in semen, evaluated by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), were significantly more represented in those reporting an history of infertility (13 out of 22), compared to fertile subjects (25 out of 78, P = 0.0266). In vitro sperm exposure to PAEs showed that lipophilic PAE representative Di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP) had higher cell accumulation and inhibition of P4-induced AR than less lipophilic PAE representative Dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Computer-based binding analysis and fluorimetric inhibition assay, showed that both DNOP and DBP had similar Phospholipase-A2 (PLA2) inhibitory activity (respectively: 3.98 nM and 5.52 nM). However, only DNOP showed a significant inhibition of PLA2-mediated AR, triggered by A23187 calcium ionophore. Incubation with PLA2-related product arachidonic acid restored AR. Our data are suggestive of a novel mechanistic model of PAEs interference on sperm function, through the inhibition of PLA2-mediated signaling. According to this hypothesis, the inhibitory efficacy of the specific PAE is possibly linked to the corresponding cell accumulation.

Fertility preservation for prepubertal male patients undergoing gonadotoxic therapies, potentially depleting spermatogonial cells, is an expanding necessity, yet most of the feasible options are still in the experimental phase. We present our experience and a summary of current and novel possibilities regarding the different strategies to protect or restore fertility in young male patients, before proceeding with chemotherapy or radiotherapy for malignances or other diseases. Adult oncological patients should always be counselled to cryopreserve the semen before starting treatment, however this approach is not suitable for prepubertal boys, who aren't capable to produce sperm yet. Fortunately, since the survival rate of pediatric cancer patients has skyrocketed in the last decade and it's over 84%, safeguarding their future fertility is becoming a major concern for reproductive medicine. Surgical and medical approaches to personalize treatment or protect the gonads could be a valid first step to take. Testicular tissue autologous grafting or xenografting, and spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) transplantation, are the main experimental options available, but spermatogenesis in vitro is becoming an intriguing alternative. All of these methods feature both strong and weak prospects. There is also relevant controversy regarding the type of testicular material to preserve and the cryopreservation methods. Since transplanted cells are bound to survive based on SSCs number, many ways to enrich their population in cultures have been proposed, as well as different sites of injection inside the testis. Testicular tissue graft has been experimented on mice, rabbits, rhesus macaques and porcine, allowing the birth of live offspring after performing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), however it has never been performed on human males yet. In vitro spermatogenesis remains a mirage, although many steps in the right direction have been performed. The manufacturing of 3D scaffolds and artificial spermatogenetic niche, providing support to stem cells in cultures, seems like the best way to further advance in this field.

Infertility is an important health problem affecting about 16% of couples worldwide and male infertility is responsible for about 50% of the cases. Among the causes, sexually transmittable infections (STI) are widely accepted by researchers as etiological factors of male infertility and their incidence is growing. In detail, several reports documented the presence of HPV in semen from infertile patients. In these cases, HPV DNA was bound to the sperm surface and played a role in the infertility by affecting many sperm parameters. Despite a safe and highly effective vaccine is currently available to prevent HPV infection, there are still no effective treatments to completely clear the virus. However, recent studies highlighted that HPV vaccination can be an effective tool to counteract HPV seminal infection even in already infected patients. In fact, it seems able to reduce the viral time to clearance and the relapse of infection in males with persistence of HPV in semen. In this review, we aimed to explore, in a narrative way, currently available literature about HPV infection of male genital tract and the mechanisms by which HPV virions may alter sperm parameters and, therefore, male fertility, both natural and assisted. Moreover, we aimed to report and discuss the most recent evidence about the role of HPV vaccine administration as a therapeutic tool in males with persistent HPV seminal infection.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted disease worldwide and is associated with negative reproductive outcomes because of which it is recommended to postpone medically assisted reproduction (MAR). This raises major concerns for elder infertile couples. We showed that a hyaluronidase-based sperm washing (IALu) procedure blunted the HPV viral load in semen. Here, were report two cases of couples with long-term idiopathic infertility, ascribed to persistent semen HPV detection, finding a beneficial outcome from the use of IALu protocol applied to intra-uterine insemination (IUI). Case 1: A Caucasian couple (female aged 32, male aged 35), complained of having been attempting pregnancy for 4 years. HPV-DNA (genotypes 51 and 54) was detected on sperms. After a first unsuccessful IUI cycle attempt, using standard swim-up selection of spermatozoa, a second IUI cycle using the IALu procedure was associated with a pregnancy and a successful trimester of gestation. Case 2: A Caucasian couple (female aged 43, male aged 52) complained of having been attempting pregnancy for 3 years and showed the detection of HPV-DNA (genotype 66) on sperms. After a first unsuccessful standard IUI cycle attempt, two further IUI cycles using IALu procedure were pursued. The last cycle was associated with a pregnancy and a successful trimester of gestation. Although preliminary, the IALu procedure is a promising approach for straightforward fertility treatments in cases of recurrent HPV-DNA semen detection, avoiding critical latencies.

Perfluoro-alkyl substances (PFAS) are chemical pollutants with prevalent stability and environmental persistence. Exposure to PFAS, particularly perfluoro-octanoic acid (PFOA), has been associated with increased diabetes-related cardiovascular mortality in subjects residing areas of high environmental contamination, however the exact pathogenic mechanism remains elusive. Here we used HepG2 cells, an in vitro model of human hepatocyte, to investigate the possible role of PFOA exposure in the alteration of hepatic glucose metabolism. HepG2 cells were exposed for 24 hours to PFOA at increasing concentration from 0 to 1000 ng/mL and then stimulated with 100 nm Insulin (Ins). The consequent effect on glycogen synthesis, glucose uptake and Glut-4 glucose transporter translocation was then evaluated by, respectively, Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) staining, 2-deoxyglucose (2-DG) uptake assay and immunofluorescence. Exposure to PFOA was associated with reduced glycogen synthesis and glucose uptake, at concentration equal or greater than, respectively, 0,1 ng/mL and 10 ng/mL, with parallel impaired membrane translocation of Glut-4 upon Ins stimulation. Western blot analysis showed early uncoupling of Insulin Receptor (InsR) activation from the downstream Akt and GSK3 phosphorylation. Computational docking analysis disclosed the possible stabilizing effect of PFOA on the complex between InsR and GM3 ganglioside, previously shown to be associated with the low grade chronic inflammation-related insulin resistance. Consistently, long term treatment with glucosyl-ceramide synthase inhibitor PDMP was able to largely restore glycogen synthesis, glucose uptake and Glut-4 translocation upon Ins stimulation in HepG2 exposed to PFOA. Our data support a novel pathogenic mechanism linking exposure to PFOA to derangement of hepatocyte cell metabolism.

PURPOSE: Ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD) and erectile dysfunction after cancer treatment are clinically important complications, but their exact prevalence by various kinds of cancer site and type of treatment is unknown. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the available evidence and provide pooled estimates for prevalence of EjD and erectile dysfunction in relation to all cancer sites and identify characteristics associated with EjD in cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of cross-sectional and case-control studies. We searched 4 electronic databases (Medline®, CINAHL, PsychInfo and Embase®) until July 22, 2020. All retrospective or prospective studies reporting the prevalence of EjD in male patients with cancer were included in this review. A random effects meta-analysis was conducted calculating prevalence proportions with 95% confidence intervals. Prevalence proportions were calculated for the incidences of EjD by cancer site and type of treatment. RESULTS: A total of 64 studies (a total of 10,057 participants) were included for analysis. The most common cancer sites were bladder, colon, testis and rectum. The prevalence rates of EjD after surgical intervention ranged from 14.5% (95% CI 2.2-56.3) in colon cancer to 53.0% (95% CI 23.3-80.7) in bladder cancer. The prevalence rates of erectile dysfunction ranged from 6.8% (95% CI 0.8-39.1) in bladder cancer to 68.7% (95% CI 55.2-79.6) in cancer of the rectum. CONCLUSIONS: In a large study-level meta-analysis, we looked at a high prevalence of EjD and erectile dysfunction at various cancer sites and across different treatment types. Prospective studies of EjD and erectile dysfunction after various kinds of cancer treatments are warranted.

BACKGROUND: Prevalence of erectile dysfunction (ED) in male survivors of cancer across cancer types has not been systematically analysed. AIM: To estimate the prevalence of ED in all types of cancer and identify characteristics associated with ED in survivors of cancer. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review and meta-analysis (MA) of cross-sectional studies. METHOD: MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and EMBASE were searched, targeting reports published from inception to 1 February 2020. All retrospective or prospective studies reporting prevalence of ED in male patients with cancer and using a validated tool for detection of ED were included. A random-effects MA model was used to pool prevalence of ED as absolute estimates at three different stages, that is, 'healthy', 'at diagnosis', and 'after treatment'. A univariate MA regression including the three-level group variable as the only independent variable was used to assess the difference in ED prevalence across the three groups. Further MAs were conducted for studies involving patients at diagnosis and after treatment, and statistical inferences were made with setting for multiple testing controlling for a false discovery rate (FDR) <0.05. RESULTS: In total, 1301 studies were assessed for inclusion. Of these, 141 were potentially eligible and subsequently scrutinised in full text. Finally, 43 studies were included with a total of 13 148 participants. Overall, pooled data of the included studies showed an ED prevalence of 40.72% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 31.80 to 50.29) in patients with cancer, with prevalences of 28.60% (95% CI = 12.10 to 53.83) at time of diagnosis and 42.70% (95% CI = 32.97 to 53.03) after treatment, with significant difference between these two stages and across cancer locations, controlling for an FDR <0.05. CONCLUSION: Erectile dysfunction was particularly high in male survivors of cancer and was associated with cancer treatment, cancer site, and age.

Infertility is an important health problem that affects up to 16% of couples worldwide. Male infertility is responsible for about 50% of the cases, and the various causes of male infertility may be classified in pre-testicular (for example hypothalamic diseases), testicular, and post-testicular (for example obstructive pathologies of seminal ducts) causes. Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are increasingly widely accepted by researchers and clinicians as etiological factors of male infertility. In particular, several recent reports have documented the presence of HPV in seminal fluid and observed that sperm infection can also be present in sexually active asymptomatic male and infertile patients. In this review, we aimed to perform a systematic review of the whole body of literature exploring the impact of HPV infection in natural and assisted fertility outcomes, from both an experimental and a clinical point of view. Starting from in-vitro studies in animals up to in-vivo studies in humans, we aimed to study and evaluate the weight of this infection as a possible cause of idiopathic infertility in males with any known cause of conception failure.

Male fertility and semen quality have declined over recent decades. Among other causes, exposure to environmental and occupational pollution has been linked to adverse reproductive outcomes, but effects on male semen quality are still uncertain. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess current evidence regarding the impact of exposure to tobacco smoke and environmental and occupational pollution on sperm quality in humans. In the meta-analysis, 22 studies are included showing that environmental and occupational pollutants may affect sperm count, volume, concentration, motility, vitality and sperm DNA, and chromatin integrity. All included articles reported significant alterations in at least one of the outcomes studied in association with at least one of the pollutants studied. Considering that sperm quality can be considered a proxy for general health and that pollutants have a dramatic impact on climate change, it would be strongly recommended to better understand the role of pollutants on human, animal, and planetary health.

Infection by human papillomavirus (HPV) represents one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in both men and women worldwide. Recently, the detection of HPV virions in the semen of a large percentage of sexually active men has been associated with detrimental effects on both sperm parameters and on assisted reproductive technologies (ART) treatment outcomes. Conventional semen washing procedure used in ART have proved to be ineffective in removing HPV bound to sperm, requiring the identification of more effective and specific methods. In the present study, we assessed the possible use of hyaluronidase for the detachment of HPV from sperm cell surface. Semen samples from five normozoospermic control subjects (CTRL) were incubated with HPV virus-like particles (HPV-VLP) and treated with hyaluronidase by both a modified swim-up procedure (M-SU) and single-cell approach (SCA). The treatment with hyaluronidase was associated with the complete loss of HPV-VLP signal on sperms by both M-SU and SCA. In addition, semen samples from 12 HPV-positive infertile patients were treated with hyaluronidase 80 IU/mL by M-SU, resulting in the complete loss of HPV-DNA signal from sperm surface. Finally, the possible impact of hyaluronidase treatment on sperm parameters was assessed on both sperms from the five CTRL subjects and on further five oligo-astheno-terato-zoospermic (OAT) patients, both HPV negative. The treatment with hyaluronidase was equally associated with a slight reduction of sperm viability and progressive motility in both CTRL and OAT. In conclusion, the treatment with hyaluronidase removed efficiently and safely HPV virions bound to spermatozoa.

Introduction: Persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) semen infection is increasingly associated with male infertility. Adjuvant HPV vaccination is suggested to reduce the time to clearance and the disease relapse in males with persistent HPV semen infection. However, only a sub-population of patients show a clinical benefit from adjuvant vaccination. Here, we aimed to address the effectiveness rate of HPV adjuvant vaccination in males with genital tract infection and the possible prognostic markers of healing. Methods: Clinical records from 379 patients with persistent seminal HPV detection, all receiving HPV adjuvant vaccination, were considered. Clinical data, including genital HPV-DNA assessment by INNO-LiPA genotyping, semen HPV-DNA analysis by FISH analysis and serum antibody titer, were collected at basal (T0) and after 6 months (T1) since the vaccination cycle ended. Results: Clearance of genital HPV-DNA was recorded in 326 (86%) patients. Serum HPV-antibody titer at T1 was the most important prognostic factor associated with HPV-DNA clearance. A serum antibody titer equal to or greater than the threshold value 1:125, obtained by ROC curve analysis, was prognostic of healing. Conclusions: Anti-HPV antibody represents a suitable marker of adequate immune response to HPV vaccination in patients with genital infection.

AIMS: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a frequent microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Hormonal derangements such as hypogonadism and hyperestrogenism are common in T2DM. Our aim was to investigate the relationship between estrogens and ED in diabetic patients. METHODS: We performed a retrospective study on 57 patients with T2DM suffering from ED. ED was assessed with the International Index of Erectile Function questionnaire (IIEF-5) and penile color-doppler ultrasound (PCDU). Blood tests included glycated hemoglobin, lipid profile, total testosterone (T), and estradiol (E2). RESULTS: E2 was negatively correlated with IIEF-5 score after correction for age, diabetes duration, BMI, HbA1c, LDL- and HDL-cholesterol, T and PSA (r = -0.457, p < 0.01). Patients in the higher E2 quartile, had statistically higher probability of severe ED (61.5%). In the same patients, the PCDU demonstrated a statistically longer Acceleration Time (120.0 ±â€¯24.5, p = 0.048) indicating an impaired arterial flow. CONCLUSIONS: In diabetic patients, higher E2 is associated with worse erectile function and impaired cavernous arterial flow. Diabetic patients with high E2 are more prone to severe ED. It could be suggested to include estradiol measurement in the hormonal assessment of ED in patients with T2DM.

INTRODUCTION: Young adult males are more likely to demonstrate health-risk behaviors than other individuals. The use of specific data about health-risk behaviors within this population might be important to promote effective preventive psychosocial and educational programs and interventions. AIM: To provide a detailed description of health-related lifestyles, substance-related behaviors, and sexual habits that can negatively affect fertility, sexual sphere, and health in a large sample of Italian young adult males. METHODS: A sample comprising 2,170 males aged 18-21 years, attending the last year of high school, was administered an online questionnaire made up of 39 multiple-choice questions. The questionnaire explored health-related lifestyles, substance-related behaviors, and sexuality and sexual habits. Descriptive analyses were conducted. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: The outcome measures included data about health-related lifestyles, substance-related behaviors, and sexuality and sexual habits reported by Italian young adult males. RESULTS: Health-related lifestyles: 92.9% of the sample reported practicing some physical activity during the week. 90.3% declared a Mediterranean diet and 8.1% a hyperproteic diet. Substance-related behaviors: 33.8% of the sample reported having smoked tobacco at least once in their lives; among them, 71% reported current daily smoking. 40.2% declared drinking alcohol from 5 to 7 days in a week. 32.9% of the sample reported currently using a substance. Sexuality and sexual habits: 97.1% of the sample self-defined themselves as heterosexual. 73.3% of participants rated their knowledge about sexuality as "excellent/good," 58.7% about sexually transmitted infections. Only 4.8% reported having had a seminal liquid examination. Half of the sample (52.2%) declared having had sexual intercourses, in the largest proportion protected sex. 14.7% of the sample reported having at least one sexual dysfunction. 88.6% of participants reported having used pornography, 18.7% every day. CONCLUSION: The present study highlighted the need to empower the number and efficacy of preventive interventions to promote health-related behaviors among Italian young male population. Melanoma is a frequent neoplasm in young adult males in reproductive age, 10% of them degenerating into regional and/or distant metastases (MM). The use of BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi) vemurafenib and dabrafenib is effective in MM patients harboring BRAF V600E/K/D mutations. Despite the increased life expectancy in MM patients treated with BRAFi, concerns are raised by the possible side effects and increased risk of gonado- and/or genotoxicity associated with these drugs. However, these aspects are currently under-investigated. Here we report the different fertility outcome in two cases of MM patients, harboring BRAF V600E mutation, that received vemurafenib and dabrafenib respectively. The first patient, 36 years at recruitment in 2015 and seeking fatherhood, had an history of relapsing melanoma since 2002 and undergone to numerous interventions and chemotherapy cycles. In November 2011, following detection of BRAF V600E mutation, a daily treatment with vemurafenib (1,440 mg) was prescribed with preventive gamete cryopreservation. BRAFi was effective in the clinical stabilization of the disease. In 2015, semen evaluation at follow-up showed sperm parameters within the normal range and no signs of alteration of either sperm function or sperm-DNA. On these bases, no contraindications for fatherhood were given. After a month of free intercourses, the 38-year-old partner achieved spontaneous pregnancy with a regular course, normal male fetal karyotype and a full term birth. The second patient, 39 years at recruitment in 2018 and seeking fatherhood, had an history of melanoma since 2012. In 2018, following the evidence of disease relapse and detection of the BRAF V600E mutation, treatment with dabrafenib/trametinib (300 mg/day/2 mg/day) was initiated together with preventive gamete cryopreservation. In 2019, semen evaluation at follow up showed sperm count and motility below the reference values, associated with increased indexes of sperm aneuploidies and sperm DNA fragmentation. Accordingly, access to assisted reproduction technique with cryopreserved spermatozoa was suggested. Differently from dabrafenib that was associated to damage to spermatogenesis, high-dose vemurafenib showed no association with gonadotoxicity and genotoxicity in humans, even at high doses. Although further confirmation are required, our data represent a valued cue in oncofertility counseling to MM patients in addition to preventive cryopreservation.
