BACKGROUND: Cuproptosis is a novel pathway that differs from other forms of cell death and has been confirmed to be applicable for predicting tumor prognosis and clinical treatment response. However, the mechanism underlying the resistance of colorectal cancer (CRC) to cuproptosis at the molecular level has not been elucidated. METHODS: Using bioinformatics analysis, the expression of CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein beta (CEBPB) in CRC tissues and its enrichment in biological processes were detected. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and western blotting (WB) were employed to test the expression of CEBPB in CRC cells. WB was utilized to assess the levels of proteins related to cuproptosis and the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/AKT/mTOR) pathway. The MTT assay was used to test cell viability. Cell proliferation was assessed by a colony formation assay. Transwell assays were used to measure cell migration and invasion ability. DLAT-aggregate formation was determined by immunofluorescence. RESULTS: CEBPB was highly upregulated in CRC cells to enhance cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion. CEBPB was strongly implicated in copper ion homeostasis and the mTOR signaling pathway in CRC. In a CRC cuproptosis cell model, rescue experiments revealed that a PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway inhibitor attenuated the promoting effect of CEBPB overexpression on the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and rescued the sensitivity of CRC to cuproptosis. CONCLUSION: This work demonstrated that CEBPB can activate the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby decreasing the sensitivity of CRC to cuproptosis. These data suggested that targeting CEBPB or the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway may enhance the sensitivity of CRC patients to cuproptosis, providing a combined therapeutic strategy for cuproptosis-induced therapy.

Selecting and breeding rice cultivars that enable strong cadmium (Cd) accumulation in rice straw but low accumulation in brown rice is a promising way to achieve Cd phytoremediation as well as to ensure the food safety of rice. Herein, we isolated a gene OsWNK9 from the quantitative trait locus associated with reducing Cd translocation from rice straw to brown rice and decreasing the Cd concentration in brown rice (BRCdC). Continuous strong expression of OsWNK9 was observed in nodes and internode and was induced after Cd supply. OsWNK9 was localized in the rice cell nucleus and participated in the regulation of Cd transport in yeast. Two independent oswnk9 rice mutants were generated via CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing and showed significantly higher BRCdC than that of the wild type (WT). The BRCdC of knockout oswnk9 mutants was 0.227 mg kg-1and 0.238 mg kg-1, increased by 14 % and 19 % compared with that of the WT due to the lower Cd allocation in the basal stem, internode, and node III, which was unrelated to Cd uptake. Interestingly, OsWNK9 could promote iron (Fe) accumulation in rice under Cd-contaminated conditions, suggesting that OsWNK9 is an ideal gene for Cd phytoremediation and Fe biofortification in rice to support safe food production.

Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity drives walnut fruit browning, but the roles of its only two-family genes, JrPPO1 and JrPPO2, remain unclear. This study explores the spatiotemporal expression and enzymatic characteristics of JrPPO1 and JrPPO2 in walnut. Treatment with the PPO activator CuSO4 and H2O2 accelerated fruit browning and up-regulated JrPPO1/2 expression, whereas treatment with the PPO inhibitor ascorbic acid delayed browning, down-regulating JrPPO1 and up-regulating JrPPO2 expression. Compared to mJrPPO1, mJrPPO2 can exhibited better enzyme activity at higher temperatures (47 °C) and in more acidic environments (pH 4.25). mJrPPO2 exhibited a higher substrate specificity over mJrPPO1, and the preferred substrates are catechol, chlorogenic acid, and epicatechin. Additionally, mJrPPO2 adapted better to low concentration of oxygen (as low as 1.0% O2) and slightly elevated CO2 levels compared to mJrPPO1. Subcellular localization and spatiotemporal expression patterns showed that JrPPO1 is only expressed in green tissues and located in chloroplasts, while JrPPO2 is also located in chloroplasts, partly associated with membranes, and is expressed in both green and non-green tissues. Silencing JrPPO1/2 with virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) reduced fruit browning, maintained higher total phenols, and decreased MDA production. Notably, silencing JrPPO1 had a greater impact on browning than JrPPO2, indicating JrPPO1's greater contribution to PPO activity and fruit browning in walnut fruits. Consequently, JrPPO1 can be effectively regulated both at the molecular level and by manipulating environmental conditions, to achieve the objective of controlling fruit browning.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the risk factors for recurrent ischemic stroke in patients with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) who underwent successful stent placement and to establish a nomogram prediction model. METHODS: We utilized data from a prospective collection of 430 consecutive patients at Jining NO.1 People's Hospital from November 2021 to November 2022, conducting further analysis on the subset of 400 patients who met the inclusion criteria. They were further divided into training (n=321) and validation (n=79) groups. In the training group, we used univariate and multivariate COX regression to find independent risk factors for recurrent stroke and then created a nomogram. The assessment of the nomogram's discrimination and calibration was performed through the examination of various measures including the Consistency index (C-index), the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves (AUC), and the calibration plots. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to evaluate the clinical utility of the nomogram by quantifying the net benefit to the patient under different threshold probabilities. RESULTS: The nomogram for predicting recurrent ischemic stroke in symptomatic ICAS patients after stent placement utilizes six variables: coronary heart disease (CHD), smoking, multiple ICAS, systolic blood pressure (SBP), in-stent restenosis (ISR), and fasting plasma glucose. The C-index (0.884 for the training cohort and 0.87 for the validation cohort) and the time-dependent AUC (>0.7) indicated satisfactory discriminative ability of the nomogram. Furthermore, DCA indicated a clinical net benefit from the nomogram. CONCLUSIONS: The predictive model constructed includes six predictive factors: CHD, smoking, multiple ICAS, SBP, ISR and fasting blood glucose. The model demonstrates good predictive ability and can be utilized to predict ischemic stroke recurrence in patients with symptomatic ICAS after successful stent placement.

Cadmium (Cd) can induce programmed cell death (PCD) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) effectively alleviate Cd stress. However, the mechanisms of ZnO NPs-mediated Cd detoxification in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) are limited. The pot experiment was conducted with Cd soil (19.2 mg kg-1) and foliar ZnO NPs (100 mg L-1) on alfalfa. The results showed that Cd reduced shoot height and biomass, and accumulated reactive oxygen species (ROS), resulting in oxidative stress and further PCD (plasmolysis, cytosolic and nuclear condensation, subcellular organelle swelling, and cell death). ZnO NPs positively regulated the antioxidant system, cell membrane stability, ultrastructure, osmotic homeostasis, and reduced PCD, indicating a multi-level coordination for the increased Cd tolerance. ZnO NPs up-regulated the activity and expression of antioxidant enzymes and regulated PCD-related genes to scavenge ROS and mitigate PCD caused by Cd. The genes related to ZnO NPs-mediated Cd detoxification were significantly enriched in cell death and porphyrin and chlorophyll metabolism. Overall, it elucidates the molecular basis of ZnO NPs-mediated Cd-tolerance by promoting redox and osmotic homeostasis, maintaining cellular ultrastructure, reducing Cd content, and attenuating Cd-induced PCD. it provides a promising application of ZnO NPs to mitigate Cd phytotoxicity and the related cellular and biochemical mechanisms. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATION: Cd, one of the most toxic heavy metals, has caused serious environmental pollution. ZnO NPs can effectively alleviate Cd stress on plants and the environment. This study revealed that foliar-applied ZnO NPs alleviate Cd toxicity by mitigating the oxidative damage and regulating Cd-induced PCD via morphological, physiological, and transcriptomic levels. The findings elucidated the molecular basis of ZnO NPs-mediated Cd tolerance by promoting osmotic and redox homeostasis, reducing Cd content and lipid peroxidation, attenuating Cd-induced PCD features, and altering PCD-related genes in alfalfa. The study laid a theoretical foundation for the safe production of alfalfa under Cd pollution.

Patients with relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) achieve complete response (CR) after decitabine-plus-camrelizumab therapy, while long-term outcome especially after treatment discontinuation remains unclear. We present a retrospective analysis of 87 relapsed/refractory cHL patients who acquired CR after decitabine-plus-camrelizumab. Patients were divided into two groups and received consolidation treatment every 3-4 or 6-12 weeks, and 1-year of continuous CR was guaranteed for treatment cessation. At a median follow-up of 5.3 years, the median relapse-free survival (RFS) after achieving CR with decitabine-plus-camrelizumab therapy was 4.5 years, and patients underwent consolidation per 3-4 weeks might have longer RFS. The baseline percentage of peripheral central memory T cells was not associated with RFS, while patients with higher pretreatment serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) had significantly shorter RFS and increased risk for disease recurrence. Fifty-seven patients completed and discontinued decitabine-plus-camrelizumab, and their median RFS had not been reached. The 2-year RFS rate after treatment cessation was 78% (95% CI, 67-90%). Patients in the high-risk subgroup with higher pretreatment IL-6 and LDH levels showed poor treatment-free remission. Moreover, decitabine-plus-camrelizumab therapy was safe and cost-effective. In conclusion, patients who obtained CR with decitabine-plus-camrelizumab and received consolidation per 3-4 weeks can achieve long-term remission after treatment discontinuation.

Eco-toxicological estimation of cadmium induced damages by morpho-physiological and cellular response could be an insightful strategy to alleviate negative impact of Cd in agricultural crops. The current study revealed novel patterns of Cd-bioaccumulation and cellular mechanism opted by alfalfa to acquire Cd tolerance under various soil applied zinc oxide nanoparticles (nZnO) doses (0, 30, 60, 90 mg kg-1), combined with 2% biochar (BC). Herein, the potential impact of these soil amendments was justified by decreased Cd and increased Zn-bioaccumulation into roots by 38 % and 48 % and shoots by 51 % and 72 % respectively, with co-exposure of nZnO with BC. As, the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) ultrastructural observations confirmed that Cd-exposure induced stomatal closure, and caused damage to roots and leaves ultrastructure as compared to the control group. On the contrary, the damages to the above-mentioned traits were reversed by a higher nZnO dose, and the impact was further aggravated by adding BC along nZnO. Furthermore, higher nZnO and BC levels efficiently alleviated the Cd-mediated reductions in alfalfa biomass, antioxidant enzymatic response, and gaseous exchange traits than control. Overall, soil application of 90 mg kg-1 nZnO with BC (2 %) was impactful in averting Cd stress damages and ensuring better plant performance. Thereby, applying soil nZnO and BC emerge as promising green remediation techniques to enhance crop tolerance in Cd-polluted soil.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Inflammation plays a key role in the initiation and progression of atrial fibrillation (AF). The systemic inflammation indexes are easily evaluated and predict AF development. However, it's role in prediction of recurrence of AF is unknown. We aim to explore the association between the systemic inflammation indexes and recurrence of AF in patients underwent cryoablation (CryoMaze) concomitant with mitral valve surgery. METHODS: We examined systemic inflammation indexes during perioperative period in 122 patients between 2015 and 2018. Systemic inflammation indexes were developed by systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocytes to monocytes ratio. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to examine the association of each markers with recurrence of AF. RESULTS: Of the 122 patients included in this study, 22 patients (18%) experienced AF recurrence after CryoMaze concomitant with mitral valve surgery. There is no significant difference between each systemic inflammation indexes before surgery and recurrence of AF. In univariate analysis, MLR after surgery 3 days, PLR, MPLR, NLR, SII after surgery 7 days were able to predict recurrence of AF. In multivariate analyses, SII ≥ 1696 independently predicted recurrence (OR, 3.719; 95% CI, 1.417-9.760). Interestingly, baseline SII showed no significant in prediction of recurrence. It was sharply elevated after surgery and dropped slowly. In patients of recurrence, SII after 7 days of surgery increased again. CONCLUSIONS: The raised SII again was associated with an increased risk of the postoperative recurrence of AF and independently predicted the late recurrence of AF after CryoMaze concomitant with mitral valve surgery.

BACKGROUND: Environmental variation related to ecological habitat is the main driver of plant adaptive divergence. Longitude plays an important role in the formation of plant population structure, indicating that environmental differentiation can significantly shape population structure. METHODS: Genetic diversity and population genetic structure were estimated using 105 expressed sequence tag-derived simple sequence repeat (EST-SSR) loci. A total of 249 C. dactylon (L.) Pers. (common bermudagrass) individuals were sampled from 13 geographic sites along the longitude (105°57'34″-119°27'06″E). RESULTS: There was no obvious linear trend of intra-population genetic diversity along longitude and the intra-population genetic diversity was not related to climate in this study. Low gene flow (Nm = 0.7701) meant a rich genetic differentiation among populations of C. dactylon along longitude gradients. Significantly positive Mantel correlation (r = 0.438, P = 0.001) was found between genetic distance and geographical interval while no significant partial Mantel correlation after controlling the effect of mean annual precipitation, which indicated geographic distance correlated with mean annual precipitation affect genetic distance. The genetic diversity of C. dactylon with higher ploidy level was higher than that with lower ploidy level and groups of individuals with higher ploidy level were separated further away by genetic distance from the lower ploidy levels. Understanding the different genetic bases of local adaptation comparatively between latitude and longitude is one of the core findings in the adaptive evolution of plants.

BACKGROUND: Anastomotic leakage is one of the most serious postoperative complications of rectal cancer. Prophylactic ileostomy has been widely used to reduce the risk and severity of complications of anastomotic leakage. However, prophylactic ileostomy itself has some complications, and ileostomy high output syndrome (HOS) is one of them. This study was performed to explore the risk factors of HOS in ileostomy. METHODS: A total of 114 patients with HOS were screened out from 494 eligible ileostomy patients in the last 5 years. The relationship between HOS and the clinicopathological data was analyzed using the Chi-square test and Fisher's exact probability. Multivariate analysis was performed by logistic regression. RESULTS: The incidence of HOS was 23.07% in this study. Dehydration was the most common symptom of HOS (37.7%). There was no clear correlation between HOS occurrence with sex, age, gross typing, histological grade, tumor location, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage (p > 0.05). The incidence of HOS was 14/18 in inflammatory bowel disease patients, 18/28 in diabetes mellitus patients, and 23/72 in neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy patients, 13/17 in total colectomy and abdominal infection patients. Multivariate analysis showed that they are risk factors for HOS (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: HOS occurred occasionally but rarely studied and lacks attention. Inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes mellitus, neoadjuvant radiotherapy chemotherapy, total colectomy and abdominal infection are the risk factors for HOS.

PURPOSE: In pancreatic cancer (PC), CA 19-9, CEA and CA 125 are the most widely used tumor markers. The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic significance of baseline levels of serum CA 19-9, CEA, and CA 125, and to evaluate the clinical significance of these markers in PC patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 278 patients with advanced PC that had received first-line chemotherapy treatments were examined. Correlation analysis between the tumor markers and clinical characteristics was performed using a Pearson's Chi-squared test or Fisher's exact test. A Pearson's correlation test was utilized to investigate the relationship between tumor markers and peripheral blood parameters. Univariate analysis was estimated using a Kaplan-Meier analysis and compared using a Log rank test. Multivariate analysis was performed using a Cox proportional hazards regression model. RESULTS: Both individually and collectively, the baseline CA 19-9, CEA and CA 125 levels were positively associated with the primary tumor site (p < 0.01), liver metastasis (p < 0.05), and number of organ metastases (p < 0.05). Furthermore, CA 19-9, CEA and CA 125 were correlated to baseline WBC (p < 0.001) and LDH (p < 0.01) levels. Additionally, CA 19-9 was correlated with years of smoking (p = 0.024); diabetes and years of diabetes (p = 0.012); baseline glycemic levels (p = 0.004); and neutrophil counts (p < 0.001). Moreover, CA 125 levels were associated with the baseline neutrophil counts (p < 0.001) and peritoneal metastasis (p = 0.008). When examining neutrophil, LDH, CA 19-9 and CA 125 levels were found to be associated with overall survival (OS) and shown to be independent prognostic factors. CONCLUSION: CA 19-9, CEA and CA 125 are correlated with multiple clinical factors. Baseline neutrophil, LDH, CA 19-9 and CA 125 levels are associated with OS and may potentially serve as prognostic factors.

A pre-hot-deformation process was applied for a polycrystalline nickel-base superalloy to active deformation twins and dislocations, and subsequent slow cooling treatment was used to achieve grain refinement and microstructure homogenization. The microstructural evolution of the alloy was investigated, and the corresponding underlying mechanism was discussed. It was found that twinning mainly occurred in large grains during pre-hot-deformation owing to the stress concentration surrounding the large grains. High density dislocations were found in large grains, and the dislocation density increased approaching the grain boundary. The average grain size was refined from 30 µm to 13 µm after slow cooling with a standard deviation of grain size decreasing from 10.8 to 2.8, indicating a homogeneous microstructure. The grain refinement and microstructure homogenization during cooling process could be achieved via (i) static recrystallization (SRX), (ii) interaction of twin tips and γ' precipitates, and (iii) grain coarsening hindered by γ' precipitates in grain boundaries.

This study was designed to identify the protein profiling in patients with triple vessel coronary artery disease (CAD) undergoing CABG, in order to detect CAD-related differential proteins in these patients. CABG patients with triple vessel disease with/without left main stenosis (n =160) were compared to normal coronary angiographic subjects (n =160). Plasma samples of 20 males and 20 females in each group were analyzed with iTRAQ technique. ELISA test was used to test the chosen proteins from iTRAQ results in plasma samples from a new cohort of the CABG group (n=120, male/femal=61/59) and control (n =120, male/female=60/60). iTRAQ detected 544 proteins with 35 up-regulated and 41 down-regulated (change fold > 1.2 or < 0.83, p < 0.05). Three proteins including platelet factor 4 (PF4), coagulation factor XIII B chain (F13B), and secreted frizzled-related protein 1 (sFRP1) were selected for validation by using ELISA that demonstrated significant up-regulation of PF4 and sFRP1 (p < 0.05). There was a positive correlation between these proteins and CAD (p < 0.05) and myocardial infarction history (p < 0.05). Thus, we for the first time have found 76 proteins differentially expressed in plasma of CABG patients. The thrombotic disease/inflammation progress-related protein PF4 and sFRP1, a member of the Wnt/fz signal-transduction pathway and related to myocardial repair, are significantly up-regulated in triple-vessel disease with/without left main stenosis. PF4 may be developed as a biomarker for the diagnosis of the severity of CAD requiring CABG procedure.

Combining MS-based proteomic data with network and topological features of such network would identify more clinically relevant molecules and meaningfully expand the repertoire of proteins derived from MS analysis. The integrative topological indexes representing 95.96% information of seven individual topological measures of node proteins were calculated within a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, built using 244 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) identified by iTRAQ 2D-LC-MS/MS. Compared with DEPs, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and comprehensive features (CFs), structurally dominant nodes (SDNs) based on integrative topological index distribution produced comparable classification performance in three different clinical settings using five independent gene expression data sets. The signature molecules of SDN-based classifier for distinction of early from late clinical TNM stages were enriched in biological traits of protein synthesis, intracellular localization and ribosome biogenesis, which suggests that ribosome biogenesis represents a promising therapeutic target for treating ESCC. In addition, ITGB1 expression selected exclusively by integrative topological measures correlated with clinical stages and prognosis, which was further validated with two independent cohorts of ESCC samples. Thus the integrative topological analysis of PPI networks proposed in this study provides an alternative approach to identify potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets from MS/MS data with functional insights in ESCC.

BACKGROUND: Functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) occurs in patients with rheumatic mitral valve disease even after mitral valve surgery. The aim of this study was to analyze surgical results of TR after previous successful mitral valve surgery. METHODS: From September 1996 to September 2008, 45 patients with TR after previous mitral valve replacement underwent second operation for TR. In those, 43 patients (95.6%) had right heart failure symptoms (edema of lower extremities, ascites, hepatic congestion, etc.) and 40 patients (88.9%) had atrial fibrillation. Twenty-six patients (57.8%) were in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class III, and 19 (42.2%) in class IV. Previous operations included: 41 for mechanical mitral valve replacement (91.1%), 4 for bioprosthetic mitral valve replacement (8.9%), and 7 for tricuspid annuloplasty (15.6%). RESULTS: The tricuspid valves were repaired with Kay's (7 cases, 15.6%) or De Vega technique (4 cases, 8.9%). Tricuspid valve replacement was performed in 34 cases (75.6%). One patient (2.2%) died. Postoperative low cardiac output (LCO) occurred in 5 patients and treated successfully. Postoperative echocardiography showed obvious reduction of right atrium and ventricle. The anterioposterior diameter of the right ventricle decreased to 25.5 ± 7.1 mm from 33.7 ± 6.2 mm preoperatively (P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: TR after mitral valve replacement in rheumatic heart disease is a serious clinical problem. If it occurs or progresses late after mitral valve surgery, tricuspid valve annuloplasty or replacement may be performed with satisfactory results. Due to the serious consequence of untreated TR, aggressive treatment of existing TR during mitral valve surgery is recommended.

OBJECTIVE: The effects of half-dose aprotinin in off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery have not yet been described. The present prospective study was designed to investigate its effects in OPCAB. METHODS: Seventy-six patients were randomized into two groups, receiving aprotinin (1 x 10(6) Kallikrein-inactivating units [KIU] loading dose before surgery and 5 x 10(5) KIU/h during surgery, gross dose: 2.5 x 10(6) KIU, n=36) and saline solution (control, n=40) respectively. Perioperative blood samples were collected. Hematologic and hemostatic parameters including platelet adhesion rate, D-dimer, and fibrinopeptide-A (FPA) were analyzed. Perioperative CKMB release was measured. Volume of blood loss, blood transfusion, and other clinical data were recorded throughout the perioperative period. RESULTS: Postoperative blood loss was significantly reduced in patients treated with aprotinin (2 hours; median [25th-75th]: aprotinin: 90.0 [70.0-125.0] ml, control: 145.0 [70.0-180.0] ml, P<0.05; 6 hours: aprotinin: 150.0 [100.0-220.0] ml, control: 225.0 [200.0-347.5.0] ml, P<0.01; 24 hours: aprotinin: 370.0 [220.0-510.0] ml, control: 655.0 [500.0-920.0] ml, P<0.01). The number of patients receiving blood transfusion in each group was similar. Levels of D-dimer rose significantly after surgery, and were significantly lower in the aprotinin group than in the controls (end of surgery, aprotinin, 0.4 [0.2-0.5] mg/l versus controls, 1.4 [0.8-2.3] mg/l; 2 hours, aprotinin, 0.3 [0.2-0.4] mg/l versus controls, 0.9 [0.5-1.4] mg/l; 6 hours, aprotinin, 0.3 [0.2-0.5] mg/l versus controls, 0.6 [0.4-0.9] mg/l; 24 hours, aprotinin, 0.3 [0.2-0.4] mg/l versus controls, 0.5 [0.4-0.9] mg/l; ANOVA for repeated measures, P<0.01). Platelet adhesion rate and FPA levels remained at baseline levels after the operation in the two groups. Early clinical outcomes were similar in the groups. Levels of CKMB were significantly lower in the aprotinin group than in the controls (6 hours after surgery, aprotinin, 10.0 [8.0-16.0] U/l versus controls, 15.5 [11.0-20.3] U/l; 12 hours, aprotinin, 13.5 [10.0-20.0] U/l versus controls, 19.0 [12.8-24.3] U/l; 24 hours, aprotinin, 19.0 [13.5-33.8] U/l versus controls, 25.0 [15.0-43.3] U/l; 72 hours, aprotinin, 13.0 [8.0-18.0] U/l versus controls, 16.0 [10.0-29.0] U/l; ANOVA for repeated measures, P=0.018). CONCLUSION: The results indicated that half-dose aprotinin limits fibrinolysis and myocardial injury, and reduces blood loss after OPCAB surgery.
