RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a combination of functional exercise and psychological interventions on postoperative rehabilitation and intervention compliance in patients with breast cancer (BC). METHODS: This study involved 100 patients with BC who underwent a radical mastectomy in our hospital between April 2020 and April 2021. We assigned patients to a control group (with a functional exercise intervention for patients) and an observation group (where patients received psychological interventions based on functional exercise) using a random number table. We observed and recorded the general data, intervention compliance, range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder joint pre and postintervention, pre and postintervention quality of life scores, and anxiety and depression scores before and after the interventions. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in general data between the 2 groups (P > .05). Repeated measures analysis showed no preintervention differences in compliance, shoulder ROM, quality of life, or anxiety and depression scores (P > .05). Postintervention, compliance and shoulder ROM improved in both groups, with the observation group significantly outperforming the control group (P < .05). Quality of life scores improved significantly in both groups, with higher scores in the observation group at 1 and 3 months (P < .05). Anxiety and depression scores decreased in both groups, with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P < .05). CONCLUSION: Combining functional exercise with psychological interventions improves treatment compliance, psychological status, postoperative shoulder ROM, and quality of life in breast cancer patients.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, light khaki, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped, motile via multiple flagella, and catalase- and oxidase-positive bacterium, designated as SSM4.3T, was isolated from the seaweed of Gouqi Island in the East China Sea. The novel isolate grows at 0-5.0% NaCl concentrations (w/v) (optimum 1%), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0), and 15-37 °C (optimum 30 °C). The 16S rRNA gene sequences-based phylogeny indicates that the novel marine isolate belongs to the family Rhizobiaceae and that it shared the greatest sequence similarity (98.9%) with Peteryoungia rhizophila CGMCC 1.15691T. This classification was also supported by phylogenetic analysis using core genes. The predominant fatty acids (≥ 10%) of the strain were identified as C18:1 ω7c/C18:1 ω6c. Q-10 was identified as the major isoprenoid quinone, with trace levels of Q-9 present. The major polar lipids were identified as diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol. The complete genome size of strain SSM4.3T is 4.39 Mb with a DNA G+C content of 61.3%. The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization, and average amino acid identity values between the genomes of strain SSM4.3T and its closely related representatives were 74.80-86.93%, 20.00-32.30%, and 70.30-91.52%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis, grounded on the core genes, reveals the evolutionary relationship between SSM4.3T and other Peteryoungia strains. Pan-genomics analysis of 8 previously classified Peteryoungia species and SSM4.3T revealed their unique genetic features and functions. Overall, strain SSM4.3T was considered to be a new species of the Peteryoungia genus; the name Peteryoungia algae sp. nov. has been proposed, with type strain SSM4.3T (= LMG 32561 = MCCC 1K07170).

RESUMO

The adsorption of Sb(V) and As(V) onto iron-loaded gasification slag composite material (Fe-GFS), as well as the possible mechanisms, was investigated. Batch experiments showed that in a single system, Fe-GFS sorbed As(V) to a greater extent than Sb(V) with the maximum adsorption capacity (pH 3.0) of 34.99 mg/g (0.47 mmol/g), while that of Sb(V) was 27.61 mg/g (0.23 mmol/g). In the composite system, the presence of low concentrations of Sb(V) reduced the adsorption efficiency of Fe-GFS for As(V), while the presence of high concentrations of Sb(V) actually promoted the adsorption of As(V). The presence of As(V) consistently inhibited the adsorption of Sb(V) by Fe-GFS. Compared to Fe-GFS, new peaks appeared in the FTIR spectra after adsorption, indicating the presence of Sb-O and As-O bonds on the surface after adsorption. XPS results showed that the adsorption of As(V) and Sb(V) led to a decrease in Fe-OH bonds, with a more significant decrease in Fe-OH bonds observed after the adsorption of As(V), indicating a stronger affinity of Fe-GFS for As(V) compared to Sb(V). Our results suggest that Fe-GFS is an efficient adsorbent with great potential for applications in water containing As(V) and Sb(V).

RESUMO

Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs), arising as chemical derivatives during the high-temperature culinary treatment of proteinaceous comestibles, exhibit notable carcinogenic potential. In this paper, a composite aerogel (AGD-UiO-66) with high-capacity and fast adsorption of HAAs was made with anchoring defective UiO-66 (D-UiO-66) mediated by lauric acid on the backbone of cellulose nanofibers (CNF). AGD-UiO-66 with hierarchical porosity reduced the mass transfer efficiency for the adsorption of HAAs and achieved high adsorption amount (0.84-1.05 µmol/g) and fast adsorption (15 min). The isothermal adsorption model demonstrated that AGD-UiO-66 belonged to a multilayer adsorption mechanism for HAAs. Furthermore, AGD-UiO-66 was successfully used to adsorb 12 HAAs in different food (roasted beef, roasted pork, roasted salmon and marinade) with high recoveries of 94.65%-104.43%. The intrinsic potential of AGD-UiO-66 demonstrated that it could be widely applicable to the adsorption of HAAs in foods.

RESUMO

The iron-modified coal gasification slag (Fe-CGS) material has excellent performance in purifying heavy-metal-contaminated water due to its good surface properties and adsorption capacities. However, it is unclear whether it can provide long-term simultaneous stabilization of Cd and As in composite-contaminated soils in extreme environments. This study investigated the long-term stabilization of Cd and As in acidic (JLG) and alkaline (QD) soils by simulating prolonged heavy rainfall with the addition of Fe-CGS. Multiple extraction methods were used to analyze the immobilization mechanisms of Cd and As in soil and their effects on bioavailability. The results indicate that the stabilization efficiency was related to the dosage of Fe-CGS. The concentrations of Cd and As in the JLG soil leachate were reduced by 77.6% (2.0 wt%) and 87.8% (1.0 wt%), respectively. Additionally, the availability of Cd and As decreased by 46.7% (2.0 wt%) and 53.0% (1.0 wt%), respectively. In the QD soil leachate, the concentration of Cd did not significantly change, while the concentration of As decreased by 92.3% (2.0 wt%). Furthermore, the availability of Cd and As decreased by 22.1% (2.0 wt%) and 40.2% (1.0 wt%), respectively. Continuous extraction revealed that Fe-CGS facilitated the conversion of unstable, acid-soluble Cd into oxidizable Cd and acid-soluble Cd. Additionally, it promoted the transformation of both non-specifically and specifically adsorbed As into amorphous iron oxide-bound and residual As. Fe-CGS effectively improved the soil pH, reduced the bioavailability of Cd and As, and blocked the migration of Cd and As under extreme rainfall leaching conditions. It also promoted the transformation of Cd and As into more stable forms, exhibiting satisfactory long-term stabilization performance for Cd and As.

RESUMO

Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) are the main carcinogens produced during thermal processing of protein-rich foods. In this paper, a composite aerogel (TOCNFCa) with a stabilized dual-network structure was prepared via a template for the in-situ synthesis of UiO-66 on cellulose for the adsorption of HAAs in food. The dual-network structure of TOCNFCa provides the composite aerogel with excellent wet strength, maintaining excellent compressive properties. With the in-situ grown UiO-66 content up to 71.89 wt%, the hierarchical porosity endowed TOCNFCa@UiO-66 with the ability to rapidly adsorb HAAs molecules with high capacity (1.44-5.82 µmol/g). Based on excellent thermal stability, adsorption capacity and anti-interference, TOCNFCa@UiO-66 achieved satisfactory recoveries of HAAs in the boiled marinade, which is faster and more economical than the conventional SPE method. Moreover, TOCNFCa@UiO-66 could maintain 84.55 % of the initial adsorption capacity after 5 times of reuse.

RESUMO

An iodoform-promoted functionalization of ether with secondary sulfonyl amides under visible-light irradiation was developed toward synthesis of hemiaminal skeleton with good to excellent isolated yields. The characterization of the isolated ether and iodoform complex revealed regioselective hydrogen atom transfer to initiate carbon radical formation and enabled the amination reaction with the sulfonamide.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cellular senescence, a state of stable growth arrest, is intertwined with human cancers. However, characterization of cellular senescence-associated phenotypes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unexplored. AIM: To address this issue, we delineated cellular senescence landscape across HCC. METHODS: We enrolled two HCC datasets, TCGA-LIHC and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). Unsupervised clustering was executed to probe tumor heterogeneity based upon cellular senescence genes. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm were utilized to define a cellular senescence-relevant scoring system. TRNP1 expression was measured in HCCs and normal tissues through immunohistochemistry, immunoblotting and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The influence of TMF-regulated nuclear protein (TRNP)1 on HCC senescence and growth was proven via a series of experiments. RESULTS: TCGA-LIHC patients were classified as three cellular senescence subtypes, named C1-3. The robustness and reproducibility of these subtypes were proven in the ICGC cohort. C2 had the worst overall survival, C1 the next, and C3 the best. C2 presented the highest levels of immune checkpoints, abundance of immune cells, and immunogenetic indicators. Thus, C2 might possibly respond to immunotherapy. C2 had the lowest somatic mutation rate, while C1 presented the highest copy number variations. A cellular senescence-relevant gene signature was generated, which can predict patient survival, and chemo- or immunotherapeutic response. Experimentally, it was proven that TRNP1 presented the remarkable upregulation in HCCs. TRNP1 knockdown induced apoptosis and senescence of HCC cells and attenuated tumor growth. CONCLUSION: These findings provide a systematic framework for assessing cellular senescence in HCC, which decode the tumor heterogeneity and tailor the pharmacological interventions to improve clinical management.

RESUMO

Hypoparathyroidism predisposes patients to hypocalcemia. Patients with hypoparathyroidism are thus at risk of electrocardiographic abnormalities, including T-wave alternans. T-wave alternans is poorly understood and lacks uniform diagnostic criteria. Its presence suggests myocardial electrical instability, and it has become an important sign for identifying patients at high risk of malignant arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. We report a rare case of T-wave alternans with torsade de pointes due to hypocalcemia. The etiology of T-wave alternans may easily be overlooked. It should thus be thoroughly investigated to avoid misdiagnosis and poor outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder associated with defects in GABAergic (gamma-aminobutyric acidergic) neurotransmission. α-Dystroglycan (α-DG), a cell adhesion molecule known to be essential for skeletal muscle integrity, is also present at inhibitory synapses in the central nervous system and forms a structural element in certain synapses. However, the role of α-DG in the regulation of depressive-like behaviors remains largely unknown. METHODS: Depressive-like behaviors were induced by chronic social defeat stress in adult male mice. Surface protein was extracted by a biotin kit, and the expression of protein was detected by Western blotting. Intrahippocampal microinjection of the lentivirus or adeno-associated virus or agrin intervention was carried out using a stereotaxic instrument and followed by behavioral tests. Miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents were recorded by whole-cell patch-clamp techniques. RESULTS: The expression of α-DG and glycosylated α-DG in the ventral hippocampus was significantly lower in chronic social defeat stress-susceptible male mice than in control mice, accompanied by a decreased surface expression of GABAA receptor γ2 subunit and reduced GABAergic neurotransmission. RNA interference-mediated knockdown of Dag1 increased the susceptibility of mice to subthreshold stress. Both in vivo administration of agrin and overexpression of like-acetylglucosaminyltransferase ameliorated depressive-like behaviors and restored the decrease in surface expression of GABAA receptor γ2 subunit and the amplitude of miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents in chronic social defeat stress-exposed mice. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrate that glycosylated α-DG plays a role in the pathophysiological process of depressive-like behaviors by regulating the surface expression of GABAA receptor γ2 subunit and GABAergic neurotransmission in the ventral hippocampus.

RESUMO

Iron-based catalysts were developed to achieve the hydrodechlorination (HDC)/oxidation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from thermal desorption off-gas, and Fe3O4/γ-Al2O3 showed higher dechlorination efficiency than Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3. The optimal Fe loading resulted in 95.5% degradation efficiency and 76.9% toxicity reduction of gaseous PCBs, and the optimal Fe3O4/γ-Al2O3 exhibited excellent stability during a 60-h test. The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of intermediate products indicated the presence of two competitive degradation pathways, namely, hydrodechlorination and oxidation with Fe3O4/γ-Al2O3 as catalyst. During the first stage (reductive dechlorination), the reductive activity of iron-based catalysts was effectively enhanced in the presence of water, which was confirmed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The removal of chlorine atoms was found in the order of meta > para > ortho. During the second stage (oxidation), hydroxyl and superoxide anion radicals were found to attack PCBs on the surface of Fe3O4/γ-Al2O3. This study provides an insight into the HDC and oxidation mechanism of gaseous PCBs over iron-based catalysts.

RESUMO

We identified 18 distinct Fox genes in the genome of the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, and further found a novel insect-specific subfamily that we temporarily named FoxT. A total of 16 genes were highly expressed in the eggs, while NlFoxL2 and NlFoxT are female- and male-specific genes, respectively. Large scale RNAi and RNA-seq analyses were used to reveal the functions and potential targets of NlFoxs. In the eggs, NlFoxA, NlFoxN1 and NlFoxN2 are indispensable to early embryogenesis by regulating different target genes; NlFoxG and NlFoxQ co-regulate NlSix3 for brain development; and NlFoxC, NlFoxJ1 and NlFoxP have complementary effects on late embryogenesis. Moreover, NlFoxA, NlFoxNl and NlFoxQ have pleiotropism. NlFoxA and NlFoxQ regulate the expression of NlCHS1 and cuticular proteins, respectively, thereby participating in the formation of cuticles. NlFoxN1, which regulates the expression of NlKrt9 is involved in the formation of intermediate filament frameworks. Our previous studies have revealed that NlFoxL2 and NlFoxO play important roles in chorion formation and wing polyphenism. Altogether, N. lugens Fox genes exhibit functional diversity in embryonic development and organogenesis. This comprehensive study combines genomics, transcriptomics and phenomics, thereby constructing a complex genetic network that spans the entire life cycle of the brown planthopper.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gastric mucosal hypertrophy, also known as Menetrier's disease (MD), is more common in men over 50 years of age, and the cause is unknown. The symptoms of the disease are atypical, mostly accompanied by hypoproteinemia and edema, and sometimes accompanied by symptoms such as epigastric pain, weight loss, and diarrhea. Most experts believe that the site of the disease is mainly located in the fundus of the stomach and the body of the stomach. We found that the site of the disease in this patient involved the antrum of the stomach. CASE SUMMARY: We introduced the case of a 24-year-old woman who had repeated vomiting for 5 d and was admitted to our hospital. After various examinations such as computed tomography and pathology in our hospital, the final diagnosis of the presented case is MD. The salient feature is that the mucosal folds in the fundus and body of the stomach are huge and present in the shape of gyrus. The greater curvature is more prominent, and there are multiple erosions or ulcers on the folds. The patient did not undergo gastric surgery and did not undergo re-examination. She is drinking Chinese medicine for treatment, and her vomiting and abdominal pain symptoms have improved. This disease is relatively rare in clinical practice, and it is easy to be misdiagnosed as gastric cancer, chronic gastritis and gastric lymphoma, etc. CONCLUSION: MD can occur in the antrum, it is necessary to raise awareness of the disease and reduce misdiagnosis.

RESUMO

Mining activities and high geological background are considered the important factors causing heavy metal(loid)s accumulation in rice fields of karst area. In this study, the contents, main sources, and the factors influencing bio-availability of heavy metal(loid)s were determined using conditional inference tree (CIT), random forest (RF), and geostatistical analyses with 105 soil samples collected from rice fields in karst area. Contamination by Cd, Hg, As, and Pb in soil was relatively serious in the study area in which the compound pollution was highly similar to that in the flooded area. CIT and RF effectively identified the contributions of natural and anthropogenic inputs of soil heavy metal(loid)s. Concentrations of Pb, As, and Hg were closely associated with human inputs whose cumulative contribution rates reached 68%, 87%, and 86%, respectively. Industrial activities (28%) and geogenic characteristics (44%) were primary sources of Cd accumulation. The soil pH, soil organic matter (SOM), distance from city center, the contents of heavy metal(loid)s in soil, and industry type were the most important factors influencing bio-availability of heavy metal(loid)s. Combined effect of multiple metals could not be ignored, in which As and Cd contributed over 80% to total non-carcinogenic risks for adults and children.

RESUMO

To investigate the efficacy of simvastatin on carotid atherosclerotic plaque (CAP) and its effects on serum inflammatory factors and cardiocerebrovascular events in elderly patients, 130 elderly patients with CAP were randomly divided into observation (n=65) and control groups (n=65). The control group was treated with 75 mg/day aspirin enteric-coated tablets, and the observation group was administered additional 20 mg/day simvastatin. Serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and high- and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (evaluated via the endpoint method) were determined in both groups. Furthermore, the length, thickness and number of CAPs was measured using color Doppler ultrasonography. In addition, levels of inflammatory biomarkers including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), nitric oxide, D-dimer and fibrinogen, as well as change in microemboli count, were also compared After treatment, the observation group exhibited a significant reduction in size, thickness, and number of CAP and intima-media thickness compared with before treatment. However, no significant difference was found in the indicators of CAPs in the control group before and after treatment. The levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipid cholesterol decreased, while high-density lipid cholesterol increased in the observation group after treatment, with notable changes in the observation group compared with in the control group. Overall response rate was higher in the observation group compared with the control group. TNF-α, IL-6, and hs-CRP levels in the observation group decreased after treatment compared with those before treatment and those in the control group. Furthermore, the rate of microemboli positivity was lower in the observation group than in the control group. Moreover, the overall incidence of acute cardiocerebrovascular events was lower in the observation group than in the control group. Therefore, it was demonstrated that simvastatin can reduce blood lipid levels, decrease the quantity and size of plaques, alleviate inflammatory response, reduce microemboli formation and reduce the risk of cardiocerebrovascular events in elderly patients with CAP.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of biphasic contrast-enhanced CT in differentiation of lipid-poor adenomas from pheochromocytomas. METHODS: 129 patients with 132 lipid-poor adenomas and 93 patients with 97 pheochromocytomas confirmed by pathology were included in this retrospective study. Patients underwent unenhanced abdominal CT scan followed by arterial and venous phase. Quantitative and qualitative imaging features were compared between the two groups using univariate analysis. Risk factors for pheochromocytomas were evaluated by multivariate logistic regression analysis and a diagnostic scoring model was established based on odd ratio (OR) of the risk factors. RESULTS: Pheochromocytomas were larger and showed cystic degeneration more frequently compared with lipid-poor adenomas (p < 0.01). No significant difference was found in peak enhancement phase between the two groups (p = 0.348). Attenuation values on unenhanced phase (CTU), arterial phase (CTA), and venous phase (CTV) of pheochromocytomas were significantly higher than that of lipid-poor adenomas while enhancement ratio on arterial and venous phase (ERA, ERV) of pheochromocytomas was significantly lower than that of lipid-poor adenomas (all p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed lesion size > 29 mm (OR: 5.74; 95% CI 2.51-13.16; p < 0.001), CTA > 81 HU (OR: 2.54; 95% CI 1.04-6.17; p = 0.04), CTV > 97 HU (OR: 11.19; 95% CI 3.21-38.97; p < 0.001), ERV ≤ 1.5 (OR: 20.23; 95% CI 6.30-64.87; p < 0.001), and the presence of cystic degeneration (OR: 6.22, 95% CI 1.74-22.25; p = 0.005) were risk factors for pheochromocytomas. The diagnostic scoring model yielded an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.911. CONCLUSIONS: Biphasic contrast-enhanced CT showed good diagnostic performance in differentiation of lipid-poor adenomas from pheochromocytomas.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The impacts of chronic airway diseases on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are far from understood. OBJECTIVE: To explore the influence of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) comorbidity on disease expression and outcomes, and the potential underlying mechanisms in COVID-19 patients. METHODS: A total of 961 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with a definite clinical outcome (death or discharge) were retrospectively enrolled. Demographic and clinical information were extracted from the medical records. Lung tissue sections from patients suffering from lung cancer were used for immunohistochemistry study of angiotensin-converting enzyme II (ACE2) expression. BEAS-2B cell line was stimulated with various cytokines. RESULTS: In this cohort, 21 subjects (2.2%) had COPD and 22 (2.3%) had asthma. After adjusting for confounding factors, COPD patients had higher risk of developing severe illness (OR: 23.433; 95% CI 1.525-360.135; P < .01) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (OR: 19.762; 95% CI 1.461-267.369; P = .025) than asthmatics. COPD patients, particularly those with severe COVID-19, had lower counts of CD4+ T and CD8+ T cells and B cells and higher levels of TNF-α, IL-2 receptor, IL-10, IL-8, and IL-6 than asthmatics. COPD patients had increased, whereas asthmatics had decreased ACE2 protein expression in lower airways, compared with that in control subjects without asthma and COPD. IL-4 and IL-13 downregulated, but TNF-α, IL-12, and IL-17A upregulated ACE2 expression in BEAS-2B cells. CONCLUSION: Patients with asthma and COPD likely have different risk of severe COVID-19, which may be associated with different ACE2 expression.

RESUMO

To date, numerous studies have focused on the toxicity of antimony (Sb) to soil-dwelling organisms at the individual level. However, little is known about Sb-caused molecular level toxicity. Here, an integrated transcriptomics and metabolomics approach was used to better reveal toxicity of Sb(V) to springtails Folsomia candida considering environmentally relevant speciation of Sb. No significant effects of Sb(V) on survival, reproduction and growth of springtails were observed using the ISO standard test. Transcriptomics analysis identified 1015 and 3367 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) after 2 and 7 d of exposure, indicating an increasing transcriptomal changes with time. Significantly enriched top GO (Gene Ontology) terms (chitin metabolic process, chitin binding and extracellular region) were shared between the two time exposure groups. However, no enriched KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) pathway was shared, with fatty acid metabolism and apoptosis-fly being the most significant pathway, respectively. Metabolomics analysis identified 155 differential changed metabolites (DCMs) in springtails after 7 d of exposure. Antifolate resistance was the most significantly enriched pathway, in which dihydrofolic acid was up-regulated and three purine nucleotides (adenosine 5'-monophosphate, inosine 5'-monophosphate, guanosine 5'-monophosphate) were down-regulated. This indicated obvious repression of DNA replication, which was also observed by transcriptomics. Additionally, metabolites level related to chitin, oxidative stress, and protein metabolism significantly changed, and these metabolites could also support and confirm main transcriptomic results. Thus, the combination of multiomics facilitated better understanding of the molecular level of toxicity of Sb(V) in Collembola.

RESUMO

In order to clarify the effects of chelate tetrasodium glutamate diacetate (GLDA) on the remediation of cadmium (Cd) contaminated farmland by Pennisetum purpureum Schum, GLDA was applied in different methods within 60 days:total application doses of 585, 1170, and 2340 kg·hm-2 were equally divided into 1-4 applications, respectively, and the time intervals of 2-4 applications were 30, 20, and 15 days, respectively. The biomass, Cd content, and amount of Cd extracted from aboveground parts of Pennisetum purpureum Schum, in addition to the pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) mass concentration, and other indicators in soil were analyzed. The results showed that the biomass and Cd content of the aboveground parts of Pennisetum purpureum Schum increased significantly when GLDA was applied many times at a low application dose. The number of applications and the total dose were the key factors influencing the biomass and Cd content, respectively. The highest amount of Cd extracted was 16.78 g·hm-2 at 585 kg·hm-2 (applied four times), which was 275.39% higher than the CK treatment (i.e., no GLDA was applied). There was significant positive correlations between the pH, mass concentration of DOC, and content of DTPA-Cd, and the total dose and number of applications. The mass concentration of DOC was the main factor affecting the DTPA-Cd content. The total Cd content in the soil (after at 585 kg·hm-2 was applied four times) decreased by 3.23% compared with that of the soil before planting Pennisetum purpureum Schum. Therefore, the application of GLDA is of great significance for the remediation of Cd contaminated farmland by Pennisetum purpureum Schum, and the application method should be selected reasonably.

RESUMO

As a good choice for food preservation, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have received much attention in recent years. In this paper, peptides derived from the turbot viscera hydrolysate were identified by ultraperformance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS), and the physicochemical properties and structural characteristics were analyzed by in silico tools. Furthermore, three cationic peptides with potential hydrophobicity and amphipathy were synthesized; their cytotoxicity, hemolysis, and antibacterial activities were investigated. In particular, Sm-A1 (GITDLRGMLKRLKKMK), a peptide with 16 amino acids, showed an outstanding antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by damaging the cell membrane integrity. Moreover, Sm-A1 was successfully loaded into hydroxyl-rich poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/chitosan (CS) hydrogel to improve the antibacterial activity and biofilm inhibition effect. PVA/CS+7.5‰ Sm-A1 hydrogel can satisfactorily protect the salmon muscle from the microbiological contamination and texture deterioration.
