RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Neonatal nurses should provide timely and high-quality palliative care whenever necessary. It's necessary to investigate the knowledge, attitude and behavior of palliative care among neonatal nurses, to provide references and evidences for clinical palliative care. METHODS: Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurses in a tertiary hospital of China were selected from December 1 to 16, 2022. The palliative care knowledge, attitude and behavior questionnaire was used to evaluate the current situation of palliative nursing knowledge, attitude and behavior of NICU nurses. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the influencing factors. RESULTS: 122 nurses were finally included. The average score of knowledge in neonatal nurses was 7.68 ± 2.93, the average score of attitude was 26.24 ± 7.11, the score of behavior was 40.55 ± 8.98, the average total score was 74.03 ± 10.17. Spearman correlation indicated that score of knowledge, attitude and behavior of palliative care in neonatal nurses were correlated with the age(r = 0.541), year of work experience(r = 0.622) and professional ranks and titles(r = 0.576) (all P < 0.05). Age (OR = 1.515, 95%CI: 1.204 ~ 1.796), year of work experience (OR = 2.488, 95%CI: 2.003 ~ 2.865) and professional ranks and titles (OR = 2.801, 95%CI: 2.434 ~ 3.155) were the influencing factors of score of knowledge, attitude and behavior of palliative care (all P < 0.05). PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: NICU nurses have a positive attitude towards palliative care, but the practical behavior of palliative care is less and lack of relevant knowledge. Targeted training should be carried out combined with the current situation of knowledge, attitude and practice of NICU nurses to improve the palliative care ability and quality of NICU nurses.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study analyzed qualitative research to explore cancer patients' perspectives on MBIs, including benefits, challenges, and recommendations. METHODS: This systematic review focused on synthesizing qualitative data and was registered with PROSPERO under the protocol registration number xxx. Searched 7 databases for qualitative studies on MBIs & cancer patients (17 studies, 365 patients). Analyzed data using themes & assessed confidence in findings. RESULTS: Thematic analysis using NVivo software revealed four significant themes: (1) benefits and positive outcomes (e.g., symptom improvement, team support, positive experiences), (2) challenges and difficulties (e.g., practice challenges, negative experiences), (3) the journey of change and acceptance (e.g., shifts in perception, personal growth, and acceptance), and (4) adaptations and recommendations (e.g., program modification and flexibility). CONCLUSION: Mindfulness-based interventions have the potential to offer cancer patients positive emotional experiences, increased team support, and opportunities for personal growth, self-discovery, and acceptance. This, in turn, can help them manage the psychological distress associated with cancer. Customizing programs to align with individual patients' needs and preferences can enhance engagement and effectiveness. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Integrating MBIs into Patient Education and Counseling, tailored to individual needs and with ongoing support, can enhance cancer care. Group interventions foster peer support and effectiveness. Training providers and ensuring accessibility are crucial. Research and customization to patients' journeys optimize outcomes and satisfaction. A patient-centered approach is essential for positive experiences and improved clinical outcomes.

RESUMO

Background: The mechanism by which high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) improves swallowing function by regulating intestinal flora remains unexplored. We aimed to evaluate this using fecal metabolomics and 16S rRNA sequencing. Methods: A Post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) rat model was established by middle cerebral artery occlusion. The magnetic stimulation group received HF-rTMS from the 7th day post-operation up to 14th day post-surgery. Swallowing function was assessed using a videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS). Hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining was used to assess histopathological changes in the intestinal tissue. Intestinal flora levels were evaluated by sequencing the 16S rRNA V3-V4 region. Metabolite changes within the intestinal flora were evaluated by fecal metabolomics using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Results: VFSS showed that the bolus area and pharyngeal bolus speed were significantly decreased in PSD rats, while the bolus area increased and pharyngeal transit time decreased after HF-rTMS administration (p < 0.05). In the PSD groups, H&E staining revealed damaged surface epithelial cells and disrupted cryptal glands, whereas HF-rTMS reinforced the integrity of the intestinal epithelial cells. 16S rRNA sequencing indicated that PSD can disturb the intestinal flora and its associated metabolites, whereas HF-rTMS can significantly regulate the composition of the intestinal microflora. Firmicutes and Lactobacillus abundances were lower in the PSD group than in the baseline group at the phylum and genus levels, respectively; however, both increased after HF-rTMS administration. Levels of ceramides (Cer), free fatty acids (FA), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), triacylglycerol (TAG), and sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol were increased in the PSD group. The Cer, FA, and DG levels decreased after HF-rTMS treatment, whereas the TAG levels increased. Peptococcaceae was negatively correlated with Cer, Streptococcus was negatively correlated with DG, and Acutalibacter was positively correlated with FA and Cer. However, these changes were effectively restored by HF-rTMS, resulting in recovery from dysphagia. Conclusion: These findings suggest a synergistic role for the gut microbiota and fecal metabolites in the development of PSD and the therapeutic mechanisms underlying HF-rTMS.

RESUMO

Rhubarb (RR), Chinese name Dahuang, is commonly used in the treatment of ischemic stroke (IS). However, its potential mechanism is not fully elucidated. This study intended to verify the effect of RR on IS and investigate the possible mechanism of RR in preventing IS. IS in male rats was induced by embolic middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) surgery, and drug administration was applied half an hour before surgery. RR dramatically decreased the neurological deficit scores, the cerebral infarct volume, and the cerebral edema rate, and improved the regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and histopathological changes in the brain of MCAO rats. The 16S rRNA analysis showed the harmful microbes such as Fournierella and Bilophila were decreased, and the beneficial microbes such as Enterorhabdus, Defluviitaleaceae, Christensenellaceae, and Lachnospira were significantly increased, after RR pretreatment. 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) was used to detect serum metabolomics, and RR treatment significantly changed the levels of metabolites such as isoleucine, valine, N6-acetyllysine, methionine, 3-aminoisobutyric acid, N, N-dimethylglycine, propylene glycol, trimethylamine N-oxide, myo-inositol, choline, betaine, lactate, glucose, and lipid, and the enrichment analysis of differential metabolites showed that RR may participate in the regulation of amino acid metabolism and energy metabolism. RR exerts the role of anti-IS via regulating gut bacteria and metabolic pathways.

RESUMO

Abstract Background: Primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium-sized pleomorphic T-Cell lymphoproliferative disorder (PC-SMTLD) has been considered as a controversial dermatological disease that has been included in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma group, presenting most commonly as a solitary nodule and/or plaque with a specific and characteristic head and neck predilection. Due to the considerable overlap between PC-SMTLD and pseudolymphoma (PL), the differential diagnosis is often challenging. Methylation of DNA at position 5 of cytosine, and the subsequent reduction in intracellular 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) levels, is a key epigenetic event in several cancers, including systemic lymphomas. However, it has rarely been studied in cutaneous lymphomas. Objectives: The authors aimed to explore the role of differential 5-hmC immunostaining as a useful marker to distinguish PC-SMTLD from PL. Methods: Retrospective case series study with immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence analysis of 5-hmC was performed in PL and PC-SMTLD. Results: Significant decrease of 5-hmC nuclear staining was observed in PC-SMTLD when compared with PL (p<0.0001). By semi-quantitative grade integration, there were statistical differences in the final 5-hmC scores in the two study groups. The IF co-staining of 5-hmC with CD4 revealed a decrease of 5-hmC in CD4+ lymphocytes of PC-SMTLD. Study limitations: The small clinical sample size of the study. Conclusions: The immunorreactivity of 5-hmC in CD4+ lymphocytes was highly suggestive of a benign process as PL. Furthermore, the decrease of 5-hmC nuclear staining in PC-SMTLD indicated its lymphoproliferative status and helped to make the differential diagnosis with PL. © 2023 Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia. RESUMO

Background: Follicular dendritic cell (FDC) sarcoma is an uncommon mesenchymal origin neoplasm derived from the abnormal proliferation and differentiation of FDCs. Epstein‒Barr virus-positive inflammatory follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (EBV+ iFDCS), which used to be known as the inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT)-like variant, occurs exclusively in the liver and spleen and has rarely been reported in the gastrointestinal tract. Case study: Here, we report a case of a 52-year-old woman with a special family history undergoing a routine physical examination. The colonoscope revealed an approximately 18 mm transverse colonic polyp, and the endoscopic polypectomy was performed. Microscopically, the excised polypoid mass was composed predominantly of inflammatory cells scattered with atypical ovoid to spindle tumor cells. Interestingly, there was a remarkable infiltration of IgG4+ cells. Immunohistochemistry showed that the tumor cells were positive for CD21, CD23 and CD35. EBV-encoded mRNA (EBER) in situ hybridization also gave positive signals. These histopathology features supported the diagnosis of EBV+ iFDCS. The patient was free of disease over 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: Identification of the potential pathogenesis sites of EBV+ iFDCS in extra-hepatosplenic regions is necessary for correct and timely diagnosis, and we consider it very meaningful to share our experience of diagnosing this tumor type. Furthermore, we summarize the clinicopathological features of EBV+ iFDCS presenting as a colon polyp after a thorough review of the literature.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: MYCN gene amplification is a powerful indicator of poor prognosis of neuroblastoma patients. However, MYCN non-amplified patients still showed heterogeneity in survival outcome. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic role of MYCN immunohistochemistry (IHC) in pre-treatment and post-treatment neuroblastoma tumors. METHODS: 215 untreated neuroblastoma tumors were stained with anti-MYCN antibody by immunohistochemical staining. 22 post-treatment tumors were used to compare MYCN staining with paired pre-treatment samples. Results were analyzed with other prognostic indicators. RESULTS: Moderate or strong expression of MYCN was associated with unfavorable survival outcomes (P < .001). Prominent staining of MYCN IHC was 95% sensitive and 95% specific for the presence of MYCN gene amplification in this study. Ten of 214 (5%) patients showed prominent MYCN staining but MYCN non-amplification, and had a poor prognosis (29.6 ± 16.4%, 5-year overall survival). Most of cases (7/11, 64%) with high or moderate MYCN expression before chemotherapy showed lower expression in their tumors after chemotherapy. CONCLUSION: MYCN protein overexpression was not only a sensitive and specific marker for MYCN gene amplification, but also a marker of poor prognosis in patients without MYCN amplification. However, MYCN protein expression was not always consistent before and after treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: NR2F1-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lnc RNA) that is involved in different biological processes. It plays an integral role in the pathophysiology of human diseases, especially tumorigenesis and progression. Therefore, it may be a promising target for numerous tumor biotherapeutics. The current review study aimed to show the pathophysiological activities and processes of RNA NR2F1-AS1 in cancer cells. METHODS: The contents of the present review were based on information obtained from PubMed. In the data search, "NR2F1-AS1" was chosen as the first keyword, whereas "cancer" was chosen as the second keyword. This review selected and summarized studies published between 2019-2021, concerning the biological functions and mechanisms of NR2F1-AS1 in the development of tumorigenesis. RESULTS: It was found that NR2F1-AS1 regulates a variety of biological activities such as proliferation, invasion, migration, and apoptosis. It acts as an oncogene because it is abnormally expressed and promotes the progression of cancer in a variety of malignancies, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, neuroblastoma, endometrial cancer, thyroid cancer, and gastric cancer. However, it was evident that NR2F1-AS1 inhibits the progression of cancer in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. CONCLUSION: NR2F1-AS1 is a potential new biomarker and therapeutic target for the treatment of different cancers.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Pituitary adenomas are the most common type of pituitary disorders, which usually occur in young adults and often affect the patient's physical development, labor capacity and fertility. Clinical free texts noted in electronic medical records (EMRs) of pituitary adenomas patients contain abundant diagnosis and treatment information. However, this information has not been well utilized because of the challenge to extract information from unstructured clinical texts. This study aims to enable machines to intelligently process clinical information, and automatically extract clinical named entity for pituitary adenomas from Chinese EMRs. METHODS: The clinical corpus used in this study was from one pituitary adenomas neurosurgery treatment center of a 3A hospital in China. Four types of fine-grained texts of clinical records were selected, which included notes from present illness, past medical history, case characteristics and family history of 500 pituitary adenoma inpatients. The dictionary-based matching, conditional random fields (CRF), bidirectional long short-term memory with CRF (BiLSTM-CRF), and bidirectional encoder representations from transformers with BiLSTM-CRF (BERT-BiLSTM-CRF) were used to extract clinical entities from a Chinese EMRs corpus. A comprehensive dictionary was constructed based on open source vocabularies and a domain dictionary for pituitary adenomas to conduct the dictionary-based matching method. We selected features such as part of speech, radical, document type, and the position of characters to train the CRF-based model. Random character embeddings and the character embeddings pretrained by BERT were used respectively as the input features for the BiLSTM-CRF model and the BERT-BiLSTM-CRF model. Both strict metric and relaxed metric were used to evaluate the performance of these methods. RESULTS: Experimental results demonstrated that the deep learning and other machine learning methods were able to automatically extract clinical named entities, including symptoms, body regions, diseases, family histories, surgeries, medications, and disease courses of pituitary adenomas from Chinese EMRs. With regard to overall performance, BERT-BiLSTM-CRF has the highest strict F1 value of 91.27% and the highest relaxed F1 value of 95.57% respectively. Additional evaluations showed that BERT-BiLSTM-CRF performed best in almost all entity recognition except surgery and disease course. BiLSTM-CRF performed best in disease course entity recognition, and performed as well as the CRF model for part of speech, radical and document type features, with both strict and relaxed F1 value reaching 96.48%. The CRF model with part of speech, radical and document type features performed best in surgery entity recognition with relaxed F1 value of 95.29%. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, we conducted four entity recognition methods for pituitary adenomas based on Chinese EMRs. It demonstrates that the deep learning methods can effectively extract various types of clinical entities with satisfying performance. This study contributed to the clinical named entity extraction from Chinese neurosurgical EMRs. The findings could also assist in information extraction in other Chinese medical texts.

RESUMO

Background: To classify triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) immunotyping using the public database, analyze the differences between subtypes in terms of clinical characteristics and explore the role and clinical significance of immune subtypes in TNBC immunotherapy. Methods: We downloaded TNBC data from the cBioPortal and GEO databases. The immune genes were grouped to obtain immune gene modules and annotate their biological functions. Log-rank tests and Cox regression were used to evaluate the prognosis of immune subtypes (IS). Drug sensitivity analysis was also performed for the differences among immune subtypes in immunotherapy and chemotherapy. In addition, dimension reduction analysis based on graph learning was utilized to reveal the internal structure of the immune system and visualize the distribution of patients. Results: Significant differences in prognosis were observed between subtypes (IS1, IS2, and IS3), with the best in IS3 and the worst in IS1. The sensitivity of IS3 to immunotherapy and chemotherapy was better than the other two subtypes. In addition, Immune landscape analysis found the intra-class heterogeneity of immune subtypes and further classified IS3 subtypes (IS3A and IS3B). Immune-related genes were divided into seven functional modules (The turquoise module has the worst prognosis). Five hub genes (RASSF5, CD8A, ICOS, IRF8, and CD247) were screened out as the final characteristic genes related to poor prognosis by low expression. Conclusions: The immune subtypes of TNBC were significantly different in prognosis, gene mutation, immune infiltration, drug sensitivity, and heterogeneity. We validated the independent role of immune subtypes in tumor progression and immunotherapy for TNBC. This study provides a new perspective for personalized immunotherapy and the prognosis evaluation of TNBC patients in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pituitary adenoma is one of the most common central nervous system tumors. The diagnosis and treatment of pituitary adenoma remain very difficult. Misdiagnosis and recurrence often occur, and experienced neurosurgeons are in serious shortage. A knowledge graph can help interns quickly understand the medical knowledge related to pituitary tumor. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to develop a data fusion method suitable for medical data using data of pituitary adenomas integrated from different sources. The overall goal was to construct a knowledge graph for pituitary adenoma (KGPA) to be used for knowledge discovery. METHODS: A complete framework suitable for the construction of a medical knowledge graph was developed, which was used to build the KGPA. The schema of the KGPA was manually constructed. Information of pituitary adenoma was automatically extracted from Chinese electronic medical records (CEMRs) and medical websites through a conditional random field model and newly designed web wrappers. An entity fusion method is proposed based on the head-and-tail entity fusion model to fuse the data from heterogeneous sources. RESULTS: Data were extracted from 300 CEMRs of pituitary adenoma and 4 health portals. Entity fusion was carried out using the proposed data fusion model. The F1 scores of the head and tail entity fusions were 97.32% and 98.57%, respectively. Triples from the constructed KGPA were selected for evaluation, demonstrating 95.4% accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: This paper introduces an approach to fuse triples extracted from heterogeneous data sources, which can be used to build a knowledge graph. The evaluation results showed that the data in the KGPA are of high quality. The constructed KGPA can help physicians in clinical practice.

RESUMO

Metabolic homoeostasis in adipose tissue plays a major role in obesity-related insulin resistance (IR). Regulatory T (Treg) cells have been recorded to regulate metabolic homoeostasis in adipose tissue. However, their specific mechanism is not yet known. This review aims to present the role of Treg cells and other immune cells in obesity-associated IR, focusing on the balance of numbers and functions of Treg cells and other immune cells as well as the crucial role of their interactions in maintaining adipose tissue homoeostasis. Th1 cells, Th17 cells, CD8+ T cells, and pro-inflammatory macrophages mediate the occurrence of obesity and IR by antagonizing Treg cells, while anti-inflammatory dendritic cells, eosinophils and type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) regulate the metabolic homoeostasis of adipose tissue by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of Treg cells. γ δ T cells and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells have complex effects on Treg cells, and their roles in obesity-associated IR are controversial. The balance of Treg cells and other immune cells can help maintain the metabolic homoeostasis of adipose tissue. Further research needs to explore more specific molecular mechanisms, thus providing more precise directions for the treatment of obesity with IR.

RESUMO

Animals with recent shared ancestry frequently adapt in parallel to new but similar habitats, a process often underlined by repeated selection of the same genes. Yet, in contrast, few examples have demonstrated the significance of gene reuse in colonization of multiple disparate habitats. By analyzing 343 genomes of the widespread Asian honeybee, Apis cerana, we showed that multiple peripheral subspecies radiated from a central ancestral population and adapted independently to diverse habitats. We found strong evidence of gene reuse in the Leucokinin receptor (Lkr), which was repeatedly selected in almost all peripheral subspecies. Differential expression and RNA interference knockdown revealed the role of Lkr in influencing foraging labor division, suggesting that Lkr facilitates collective tendency for pollen/nectar collection as an adaptation to floral changes. Our results suggest that honeybees may accommodate diverse floral shifts during rapid radiation through fine-tuning individual foraging tendency, a seemingly complex process accomplished by gene reuse.

RESUMO

It is well established that exercise could protect against myocardial infarction (MI). Previously, we found that epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) could be induced by exercise and has been found to protect against MI via promoting angiogenic function of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). However, the underling mechanism of EETs in promoting EPC functions is unclear. C57BL/6 mice were fed with a novel soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitor (sEHi), TPPU, to increase EET levels, for 1 week before undergoing MI surgery. Mice were then subjected to exercise training for 4 weeks. Bone marrow-derived EPCs were isolated and cultured in vitro. Exercise upregulated miR-126 expression but downregulated the protein levels of its target gene, Spred1, in EPCs from MI mice. TPPU further enhanced the effects of exercise on EPCs. Spred1 overexpression abolished the protective effects of TPPU on EPC functions. Downregulation of miR-126 by antagomiR-126 impaired the inhibitor effects of TPPU on Spred1 mRNA and protein expression. Additionally, TPPU upregulated miR-126 is partially mediated through ERK/p38 MAPK pathway. This study showed that sEHi promoted miR-126 expression, which might be related to the beneficial effect of sEHi on EPC functions in MI mice under exercise conditions, by increasing ERK and p38 MAPK phosphorylation and inhibiting Spred1.

Fulvestrant ('Faslodex'), an estrogen receptor antagonist, is available for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. The oil-based vehicle of Faslodex can lead to various adverse effects. A novel fulvestrant microcrystal (aqueous suspension) was developed in this study to eliminate these adverse effects. A sensitive and robust liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was developed and validated for the determination of fulvestrant in rat plasma using supported-liquid extraction. The separation of fulvestrant was achieved on an Agilent SB-C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 3.5 µm) with isocratic elution using fulvestrant-d3 as internal standard. Mass spectrometric detection was conducted in negative multiple reaction monitoring mode. Ion transitions were at m/z 605.5 → 427.5 for fulvestrant and m/z 608.5 → 430.5 for fulvestrant-d3. The excellent linearity was demonstrated over the range 0.05-100.0 ng/ml (r2 = 0.99). The lower limit of quantitation was 0.05 ng/ml, which was superior to that reported in literature The method validation was evaluated by selectivity, accuracy, precision, recovery and matrix effect in agreement with the US Food and Drug Administration guidance. The method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study of a novel fulvestrant microcrystal in rats after intramuscular administration. It revealed that the rate of absorption increases and the extent of absorption is constant with a decrease in microcrystal diameter.

RESUMO

ER oxidoreduclin 1α (ERO1α), an oxidase that exists in the ER, participates in protein folding and secretion and inhibiting apoptosis, and regulates tumor progression, which is a novel factor of poor cancer prognosis. However, the other physiological functions of ERO1α remain undiscovered. Although our preliminary results of this study indicated that ERO1α revealed the robust expression in ovary, especially in granulosa cells, the role of ERO1α in follicular development is not well known. Therefore, the aims of the present study were to explore the role of ERO1α and the possible mechanisms in regulating cell apoptosis and steroidogenesis in ovarian granulosa cells. ERO1α was mainly localized in granulosa cells and oocytes in the adult ovary by immunohistochemistry. Western blot analysis showed that the expression of ERO1α was highest at oestrous stage during the estrous cycle. The effect of ERO1α on cell apoptosis and steroidogenesis was detected by transduction of ERO1α overexpression and knockdown lentiviruses into primary cultured granulosa cells. Flow cytometry analysis showed that ERO1α decreased granulosa cells apoptosis. Western bolt and RT-qPCR analysis found that ERO1α increased the ratio of BCL-2/BAX, and decreased BAD and Caspase-3 expression. ELISA analysis showed that ERO1α enhanced estrogen (E2) secretion. Western bolt and RT-qPCR analysis found that ERO1α increased StAR, CYP11A1, 3ß-HSD, CYP17A1, and CYP19A1 expression, and decreased CYP1B1 expression. Furthermore, Western bolt analysis found that ERO1αincreased PDI and PRDX 4 expression, and activated the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway through increasing the phosphorylation of AKT and P70 S6 kinase. In summary, these results suggested that ERO1α might play an anti-apoptotic role and regulate steroidogenesis in granulosa cells, at least partly, via activation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

RESUMO

The proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) acts via a canonical pathway to regulate circulating low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) via degradation of the LDL receptor (LDLR) on the liver cell surface. Published research has shown that PCSK9 is involved in atherosclerosis via a variety of non-classical mechanisms that involve lysosomal, inflammatory, apoptotic, mitochondrial, and immune pathways. In this review paper, we summarized these additional mechanisms and described how anti-PCSK9 therapy exerts effects through these mechanisms. These additional pathways further illustrate the regulatory role of PCSK9 in atherosclerosis and offer an in-depth interpretation of how the PCSK9 inhibitor exerts effects on the treatment of atherosclerosis.

RESUMO

Using ab initio calculations within the density functional theory, we explored the possible structures and properties of porous AlN monolayer materials. Two kinds of porous AlN monolayers (H- and T-) are identified. The phonon dispersion spectra together with the ab initio molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that these structures are stable. We further show that the H- and T-AlN porous monolayers have well-defined porous nanostructures and high specific surface areas of 2863 m2 g-1 and 2615 m2 g-1 respectively, which is comparable to graphene (2630 m2 g-1), and can be maintained stably at high temperatures (>1300 K). Furthermore, both porous monolayers exhibit semiconductor properties, with indirect band gaps of 2.89 eV and 2.86 eV respectively. In addition, the electronic structures of the porous monolayers can be modulated by strain. The band gap of porous T-AlN monolayer experiences an indirect-direct transition when biaxial strain is applied. A moderate -9% compression can trigger this gap transition. These results indicate that porous AlN monolayers may potentially be used in future optoelectronic and catalyst applications.
