RESUMO

Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is essential for high-quality palliative care (PC) for persons with dementia. The aim of this scoping review was to identify IPC approaches in palliative dementia care and explore the elements constituting these approaches. We performed a search in PubMed, CINAHL, and PsychINFO using the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewers' manual and PRISMA guidelines, and conducted content analysis of the included articles. In total, 28 articles were included, which described 16 IPC approaches in palliative dementia care. The content analysis revealed three overall elements of these approaches: 1) collaborative themes, 2) collaborative processes, and 3) resources facilitating collaboration. Frequently reported collaborative themes embraced pain management and providing care in the dying phase. These themes were addressed through intertwined collaborative processes including communication, coordination, assessing and monitoring, and reflecting and evaluating. To ensure optimal IPC in palliative dementia care, various resources were required, such as PC knowledge, skills to manage symptoms, skills to communicate with collaborators, and a facilitating environment. In conclusion, the identified IPC approaches in palliative dementia care involve diverse collaborating professionals who mainly manage symptoms, prepare for the dying phase and require material and immaterial resources to enable optimal IPC in palliative dementia care.

BACKGROUND: Dyspnoea is a common symptom of respiratory disease. However, data on its prevalence in general populations and its association with lung function are limited and are mainly from high-income countries. The aims of this study were to estimate the prevalence of dyspnoea across several world regions, and to investigate the association of dyspnoea with lung function. METHODS: Dyspnoea was assessed, and lung function measured in 25,806 adult participants of the multinational Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease study. Dyspnoea was defined as ≥2 on the modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnoea scale. The prevalence of dyspnoea was estimated for each of the study sites and compared across countries and world regions. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess the association of dyspnoea with lung function in each site. Results were then pooled using random-effects meta-analysis. RESULTS: The prevalence of dyspnoea varied widely across sites without a clear geographical pattern. The mean prevalence of dyspnoea was 13.7 % (SD=8.2 %), ranging from 0 % in Mysore (India) to 28.8 % in Nampicuan-Talugtug (Philippines). From winter 2013-14 to the end of 2015-16, a high pressure atmospheric system induced elevated sea surface temperatures in the offshore subarctic northeast Pacific, resulting in a marine heatwave. Increased stratification due to the heatwave resulted in shoaling of the winter mixed layer and a decrease in nutrient re-supply to the euphotic zone. Here, we investigate relationships between dissolved iron (dFe) and macronutrients, net community production (NCP), (micro)nutrient uptake ratios, and phytoplankton community composition in the winter and summer from 2012 to 2015 to gain insight into coupled biogeochemical responses to the heatwave. Our investigation highlights the importance of external dFe supply during marine heatwave events, as a more shallow mixed layer reduces the transport of essential (micro)macronutrients to the surface layer. We conclude that recycled dFe did not contribute to NCP in 2014, but rather the vertical displacement of dFe rich water unrelated to mixed layer deepening played a major role. In 2015, such transport was not detected, resulting in abnormally low dFe and shift toward higher biomass of pico- and nano-phytoplankton size-classes.

Adequate interprofessional collaboration is essential to provide high quality palliative dementia care across different settings. Within interprofessional collaboration, nurses are the frontline healthcare professionals (HCPs), who interact closely with people with dementia, their loved ones, and other HCPs. A survey was conducted to explore the needs of nurses regarding interprofessional collaboration in home care (HC) organisations, nursing homes (NHs) and during NH admissions. The survey identified the perceived quality of and preferred needs regarding interprofessional collaboration. In total, 384 participants (53.9% home care nurses) completed the survey. The most frequently reported collaboration needs in HC organisations and NH were optimal communication content e.g. information transfer and short communication lines (being able to easily contact other disciplines), and coordination e.g. one contact person, and clear task division and responsibilities). During NH admissions, it was important to create transparency about agreements concerning end-of-life wishes, optimize nurse-to-nurse handover during NH admissions (through performing visits prior to admissions, and receiving practical information on how to guide relatives), and improve coordination (e.g. one contact person). In conclusion, the key collaboration needs were organising central coordination, establishing optimal communication, and creating transparency on end-of-life care agreements.

BACKGROUND: Achieving an optimal limb alignment is an important factor affecting the long-term survival of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This is the first study to look at the limb alignment and orientation of components in TKA using a novel image-free handheld robotic sculpting system. METHODS: This case-controlled study retrospectively compared limb and component alignment of 77 TKAs performed with a robot (Robot-group) with a matched control group of patients who received conventional alignment with intramedular rods (Control group). Alignment and component positioning was measured on full-leg weight-bearing and standard lateral X-rays by two independent observers. The image-free handheld robotic sculpting system calculated the planned and achieved mechanical axis (MA). Outliers were defined as > 3° deviation from planned alignment. RESULTS: Mean MA was 180.1° (SD = 1.9) in the Robot-group, compared to the Control group with a mean MA of 179.1° (SD = 3.1, p = 0.028). We observed 5 outliers (6%) in the Robot-group and 14 outliers (18%, p = 0.051) in the Control group. Fraction of outliers of the frontal tibial component was 0% in the Robot-group versus 8% in the Control group (p = 0.038). There were no other statistical differences regarding the implant positioning between both groups. CONCLUSION: The Robot-group showed significantly less outliers compared to the conventional technique. Whether these differences are clinically relevant is questionable and should be investigated on the long term. Randomized controlled trials with larger patient series will be needed in the future to confirm our preliminary results.

AIMS: To determine whether glycosaminoglycan (GAG) replenishment is able to improve recovery of a deficient urothelial barrier, chondroitin sulfate (CS) instillations were tested using an in vitro model. Porcine urothelial cells (Ucells) were terminally differentiated in culture conditions to construct a urothelial layer with a functional barrier. This layer was damaged to compromise barrier function to simulate a key characteristic of bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis. The functional effect of subsequent treatment with CS was evaluated. METHODS: Primary porcine Ucells were isolated and cultured on inserts. Differentiation of cells was evaluated with immunohistochemical analysis for the presence of umbrella cells, tight junctions and CS. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) measurements were performed to evaluate barrier function. Protamine was used to simulate mild urothelial damage. CS 0.2% (vol/vol), a GAG, was subsequently instilled in the treatment group. The recovery of barrier function was further evaluated with TEER measurements. The Student t test was used for the analysis of results. RESULTS: After induction of differentiation, the Ucells expressed barrier markers and a functional barrier was established (measured by high TEER). TEER decreased significantly after instillation with protamine. CS instillation improved recovery of TEER significantly measured after 7 hours (84% vs 22% in controls). After 24 hours; however, the TEER was comparable in both experimental groups. CONCLUSION: CS instillation improves the recovery of the urothelial barrier after damage in vitro. This functional experiment shows that CS improves recovery of damaged urothelial function, which supports the hypothesis behind the mechanism of action of GAG-replenishment therapy.

BACKGROUND: Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are common worldwide and can cause impairment of fertility. In women pelvic inflammatory disease with subsequent tubal sterility is well-documented but the influence of STI on male fertility is still controversely discussed OBJECTIVE: The effects of various bacterial and viral STI on male fertility are discussed. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An evaluation of the international literature up to 30 April 2018 was carried out including studies on larger collectives from the Asiatic region. RESULTS: There is still an inconsistent picture of the influence of various bacterial and viral STI on male fertility. Direct or indirect evidence of the impact of a pathogen alone on the quality of ejaculates could not be clearly demonstrated; however, there are indications of a negative effect by Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma species in large Asiatic collectives. The transmission of viral pathogens, such as human papillomavirus (HPV), herpes simplex virus (HSV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) possible impairs the success of assisted reproductive techniques. In contrast, manifest inflammatory processes of the male genital tract caused by STI (in particular Chlamydia and gonococci) or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections often result in impairment of sperm qualtity. CONCLUSION: In cases of male fertility disorders a microbiological clarification is recommended. Further studies on the effect of STI on male fertility in larger collectives are necessary, particularly for Caucasian populations. The utilization of existing preventive measures, such as screening for Chlamydia in young women and HPV vaccination also for young males, should be intensively promoted.

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of a medial open-wedge osteotomy (OWO) and the release of the superficial medial collateral ligament (MCL) on the tibiofemoral cartilage pressure, the MCL tension and the valgus laxity of the knee. METHODS: Seven fresh-frozen, human cadaveric knees were used. Medial and lateral mean contact pressure (CP), peak contact pressure (peakCP), and contact area (CA) were measured using a pressure-sensitive film (I-Scan; Tekscan, Boston, MA). The MCL tension was measured using a custom-made device. These measurements were continuously recorded for 5 min after an OWO of 10°. After the osteotomy, the valgus laxity was measured with a handheld Newtonmeter. For one knee, the measurements were continued for 24 h. At the end, a complete release of the superficial MCL was performed and the measurements were repeated at 10°. RESULTS: There was relaxation of the MCL after the osteotomy; the tension dropped in 5 min with 10.7% (mean difference 20.5 N (95% CI 16.1-24.9)), and in 24 h, the tension decreased by 24.2% (absolute difference 38.8 N) (one knee). After the osteotomy, the mean CP, peakCP and CA increased in the medial compartment (absolute difference 0.17 MPa (95% CI 0.14-0.20), 0.27 MPa (95% CI 0.24-0.30), 132.9mm2 (95% CI 67.7-198.2), respectively), and decreased in the lateral compartment (absolute difference 0.02 MPa (95% CI 0.03 -0.01), 0.08 MPa (95% CI 0.11 - 0.04), 47.0 mm2 (95% CI -105.8 to 11.8), respectively). Only after a release of the superficial MCL, the mean CP, peak CP and CA significantly decreased in the medial compartment (absolute difference 0.17, 0.27 MPa, 119.8 mm2, respectively), and increased in the lateral compartment (absolute difference 0.02, 0.11 MPa, 52.4 mm2, respectively). After the release of the superficial MCL, a mean increase of 7.9° [mean difference - 0.1° (95% CI -1.9 to 1.6)] of the valgus laxity was found. CONCLUSIONS: A release of the superficial MCL helps achieve the goal of reducing medial cartilage pressure in an OWO. There was considerable relaxation of the MCL after an OWO that resulted in a decrease of the mean CP in the medial and lateral compartments of the knee over time. However, cartilage pressure shifted from the medial to the lateral compartment only after release of the superficial MCL. The release of the superficial MCL caused a significant increase in the valgus laxity, which could influence stability after an OWO. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: I.

AIM: This review critically evaluates the evidence on mechanoreceptors and pathways in the bladder urothelium that are involved in normal bladder filling signalling. METHODS: Evidence from in vitro and in vivo studies on (i) signalling pathways like the adenosine triphosphate pathway, cholinergic pathway and nitric oxide and adrenergic pathway, and (ii) different urothelial receptors that are involved in bladder filling signalling like purinergic receptors, sodium channels and TRP channels will be evaluated. Other potential pathways and receptors will also be discussed. RESULTS: Bladder filling results in continuous changes in bladder wall stretch and exposure to urine. Both barrier and afferent signalling functions in the urothelium are constantly adapting to cope with these dynamics. Current evidence shows that the bladder mucosa hosts essential pathways and receptors that mediate bladder filling signalling. Intracellular calcium ion increase is a dominant factor in this signalling process. However, there is still no complete understanding how interacting receptors and pathways create a bladder filling signal. Currently, there are still novel receptors investigated that could also be participating in bladder filling signalling. CONCLUSIONS: Normal bladder filling sensation is dependent on multiple interacting mechanoreceptors and signalling pathways. Research efforts need to focus on how these pathways and receptors interact to fully understand normal bladder filling signalling.

BACKGROUND: The Tönnis and Kalchschmidt triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO) has been performed at the Klinikum Dortmund for more than 30 years. In more than 5000 cases the TPO has proven its potential to deal with even severe dysplastic hips. TPO can be easily combined with other hip procedures as intertrochanteric osteotomies and even impingement treatment can easily be done. As an elaborate technique TPO respects the growth plates and can therefore also be used for treating Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. PROCEDURE: In most cases only conventional X­rays are needed for proving the indication. Further imaging like MRI or CT-scans are only needed in certain cases. In addition EOS® is becoming an increasingly useful tool in planning and performing the surgery. For adequate movement of the acetabulum, three clearly defined osteotomies are needed. Current osteosynthesis methods provide an enhanced stability due to a novel technique of screw fixation. This is in line with the general trends towards short hospitalization and early mobilization. THERAPY: A successful treatment requires not only experience in performing the surgical technique, but furthermore an experienced team, including care, physical examination and also pain management. The surgeon should be aware that he is performing highly elective surgery and complications or a poor outcome can significantly reduce the quality of life of the mainly young patients.

BACKGROUND: Intertrochanteric osteotomies are part of joint-preserving hip surgery. Indications involve not only the mature but also the growing skeleton. After identification of the causative pathologies multidimensional corrections with the aim of a better joint situation and prevention of early osteoarthritis are possible. METHODS: The surgical technique of intertrochanteric osteotomies is presented. Potential indications are discussed on the basis of results in the literature. RESULTS: In the surgical treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip intertrochanteric osteotomies are used as additional surgery. In Perthes disease the containment is improved while the onset of osteoarthritis in epiphysis capitis femoris can be decelerated. Treatment of torsion pathologies is reliable. Avascular necrosis of the femoral head and beginning osteoarthritis are critical indications. CONCLUSION: For appropriate indications intertrochanteric osteotomies are a valuable element in joint-preserving surgery with very good long-term results.

A 4-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital with abdominal pain, vomiting and weight loss. After a period of diarrhoea, he was now constipated. Micturition was painful but there were no abnormalities in the urine. Blood test showed no signs of infection or elevated liver enzymes. Signs of cholecystitis were seen on abdominal ultrasound, but this diagnosis was ignored because of the low incidence of cholecystitis in children and the absence of abnormal liver enzymes and infection parameters. Other diagnostic investigations were carried out, but no cause could be found for his symptoms. His condition worsened during the hospital stay, and liver enzymes and infection parameters became abnormal. An abdominal laparoscopy was finally performed, and a perforation in the presence of a necrotizing cholecystitis was seen. This case shows that one should never ignore a diagnostic report even if the diagnosis has low prevalence.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the functional biomechanical performance of a novel anatomically shaped, polycarbonate urethane total meniscus implant. METHODS: Five human cadaveric knees were flexed between 0° and 90° under compressive loads mimicking a squat movement. Anteroposterior (AP) laxity tests were performed in 30° and 90° flexion. Meniscal kinematics and knee laxity were quantified using roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis. Tibial cartilage contact mechanics were determined in 90° flexion. Measurements were repeated for the native medial meniscus, the implant, after total medial meniscectomy and allograft transplantation. RESULTS: The implant and allograft displayed increased posterior and medial displacements compared to the native meniscus, yet no differences were found between the implant and allograft. Meniscal condition did not affect rotational laxity. Compared to the native joint, AP laxity for the implant was increased in 30° flexion, but not in 90°. The implant reduced the mean contact pressure compared to meniscectomy but could not restore contact pressures to native meniscus levels. Compared to the native meniscus, the implant significantly increased the peak pressure, while the contact area was reduced. Contact mechanics of the implant and allograft were never statistically different. CONCLUSIONS: Biomechanical performance was similar for the implant and allograft. However, both meniscal replacements could not restore outcomes to native meniscus levels or sufficiently improve outcomes after meniscectomy. This was presumably caused by the mobility allowed by the suture-only horn fixation. The similarity of implant and allograft performance suggests that the novel implant has the biomechanical potential to serve as an alternative to meniscal allograft transplantation.

When analyzing complex biomechanical problems such as predicting the effects of orthopedic surgery, subject-specific musculoskeletal models are essential to achieve reliable predictions. The aim of this paper is to present the Twente Lower Extremity Model 2.0, a new comprehensive dataset of the musculoskeletal geometry of the lower extremity, which is based on medical imaging data and dissection performed on the right lower extremity of a fresh male cadaver. Bone, muscle and subcutaneous fat (including skin) volumes were segmented from computed tomography and magnetic resonance images scans. Inertial parameters were estimated from the image-based segmented volumes. A complete cadaver dissection was performed, in which bony landmarks, attachments sites and lines-of-action of 55 muscle actuators and 12 ligaments, bony wrapping surfaces, and joint geometry were measured. The obtained musculoskeletal geometry dataset was finally implemented in the AnyBody Modeling System (AnyBody Technology A/S, Aalborg, Denmark), resulting in a model consisting of 12 segments, 11 joints and 21 degrees of freedom, and including 166 muscle-tendon elements for each leg. The new TLEM 2.0 dataset was purposely built to be easily combined with novel image-based scaling techniques, such as bone surface morphing, muscle volume registration and muscle-tendon path identification, in order to obtain subject-specific musculoskeletal models in a quick and accurate way. In September 2011, symptoms typically associated with Bean yellow disorder virus (BYDV) such as intervenal mottling and yellowing on middle and lower leaves combined with brittleness were observed in green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) produced in commercial greenhouses from Granada and Almeria provinces, Spain. The affected plants were all observed in greenhouses infested with Bemisia tabaci. However, collected samples tested negative for BYDV using a specific RT-PCR test (4). Electrophoretic double stranded (ds) RNA analysis from symptomatic plants revealed the presence of a slightly diffused high molecular weight dsRNA band of ~8.5 kb, similar to that produced by the crinivirus Lettuce cholorosis virus (LCV) (3). The dsRNA was purified and used for cDNA synthesis and PCR by uneven PCR (1) using primers derived from LCV genome sequences (GenBank FJ380118 and FJ380119). Amplified DNA fragments were cloned in pGEM-T Easy vector (Promega, Madison, WI) and sequenced. Two different sequences were obtained and the nucleotide and amino acid sequences were analysed using BLAST. Both showed the highest identity with different regions of the LCV genome. The sequence of the first product had 92% nucleotide and 98% amino acid sequence identity with the polyprotein (Orf1a) homologue from RNA1 of LCV (KC602376). The sequence from the second product (KC602375) revealed the highest nucleotide and amino acid identity with the heat shock protein 70 homologue from LCV (90% and 99%, respectively). Based on these sequences, two sets of specific primers were designed (LCVSP 3-forward 5'-AGTGACACAAGTTGGAGCCGAC-3', LCVSP 4-low 5'-CAGTGTTTGTTGGATATCTGGGG-3') and (LCVSP 1-forward 5'-TGTTGGAAGGTGGTGAGGTC-3', LCVSP 2-low 5'-CAGAGACGAGTCATACGTACC-3') and each produced amplicons of the expected size (463 and 434 nt, respectively) when used in RT-PCR from the collected field samples. Subsequent field surveys from 2012 to 2013 in commercial bean greenhouses confirmed the presence of LCV that apparently had replaced BYDV. Groups of 15 to 20 adults of B. tabaci introduced in clip cages were fed for 24 h on 12 green bean plants infected with LCV and later transferred to six seedlings of bean and six of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). After 2 and 4 weeks, total RNA from the lettuce and bean plants was extracted using Plant RNA Reagent (Invitrogen) and subjected to RT-PCR analysis with the LCV-SP 1-2 and LCVSP 3-4 primer sets. All six plants of bean and none of lettuce showed positive for LCV-SP and a repeat experiment revealed identical results. We also seeded and produced lettuce plants within a bean greenhouse that was naturally infected with the virus and infested with B tabaci whiteflies. Under these conditions, we observed that whiteflies migrated freely from the infected bean plants to lettuce. After 4 and 6 weeks, lettuce plants neither produced symptoms nor tested positive for LCV by RT-PCR. This result confirms the existence of a new putative strain of LCV, Lettuce chlorosis virus-SP, unable to infect lettuce plants. To date, natural infections of LCV have not been reported outside California, where the virus failed to infect P. vulgaris (2). This is also the first report of LCV in Spain that infects members of the family Leguminosae. Green bean in southeast Spain was produced in ~9,000 ha of greenhouses until the introduction of BYDV a decade ago, causing considerable economic damage. The recent finding of LCV-SP has urged the local phytosanitary inspections to include this virus in lab tests and to emphasize disease management strategies based on whitefly control. Previously, we showed that case-specific non-linear finite element (FE) models are better at predicting the load to failure of metastatic femora than experienced clinicians. In this study we improved our FE modelling and increased the number of femora and characteristics of the lesions. We retested the robustness of the FE predictions and assessed why clinicians have difficulty in estimating the load to failure of metastatic femora. A total of 20 femora with and without artificial metastases were mechanically loaded until failure. These experiments were simulated using case-specific FE models. Six clinicians ranked the femora on load to failure and reported their ranking strategies. The experimental load to failure for intact and metastatic femora was well predicted by the FE models (R(2) = 0.90 and R(2) = 0.93, respectively). Ranking metastatic femora on load to failure was well performed by the FE models (τ = 0.87), but not by the clinicians (0.11 < τ < 0.42). Both the FE models and the clinicians allowed for the characteristics of the lesions, but only the FE models incorporated the initial bone strength, which is essential for accurately predicting the risk of fracture. Accurate prediction of the risk of fracture should be made possible for clinicians by further developing FE models.

BACKGROUND: Cement injection into osteolytic areas around the cement mantle is a technique for refixation of loose hip implants for patients who cannot undergo standard revision surgery. Preliminary clinical results show the improvement in walking distance, patients' independence and pain relief. METHODS: In this study, we use a detailed finite element model to analyze whether cement injection into osteolytic areas contributes to the overall implant stability. We study the effect of various factors, like location and size of osteolytic areas, interface conditions and bone stiffness on bone-cement relative motion. FINDINGS: Presented results demonstrate that the procedure is most effective for the osteolytic areas located in the proximal region of the femur, while factors like a thin layer of residual fibrous tissue around the injected cement, that was not removed during the surgery, combined with reduced bone stiffness reduce the efficiency of the procedure. INTERPRETATION: Cement injection is able to stabilize loosened hip prostheses. However, it is important to remove the fibrous tissue layer completely, as even a thin layer will negatively influence stabilization. We will focus our research efforts on developing fibrous tissue removal techniques in order to optimize this minimally invasive treatment.

Chronic diseases are nowadays the major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Patients with end-stage chronic organ failure may suffer daily from distressful physical and psychological symptoms. The objective of the present study is to systematically review studies that examined daily symptom prevalence in patients with end-stage chronic organ failure, with attention to those that included patients with either congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic renal failure (CRF). Thirty-nine articles (8 CHF, 7 COPD, 2 CHF and COPD, 22 CRF) have been included. The included studies used various study designs. There was a wide range of daily symptom prevalence that may be due to the heterogeneity in methodology used. Nevertheless, findings suggest significant symptom burden in these patients. This review highlights the need for further prospective and longitudinal research on symptom prevalence in patients with end-stage CHF, COPD and CRF to facilitate the development of patient-centred palliative care programs.

Although migration of leukocytes into the mammary gland is pivotal for a cow's response against intramammary invading pathogens, the contribution of lymphocyte subsets to this response remains unclear. To investigate the dynamics of lymphocyte populations during Escherichia coli mastitis, T-lymphocyte subsets, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, CD21+ cells, and lymphoproliferation were studied in blood and milk of primiparous cows exposed to different quantities of bacteria. The cows were intramammarily inoculated with 10(4) cfu of E. coli (group A) and 10(6) cfu (group B). Compared with group A, a much greater number of lymphocytes migrated into the infected quarters at postinfection hour (PIH) 6 to 24 in group B, and the CD8+ cells were the first-recruited T cells in the milk. There was a significant decline in the CD4+/CD8+ ratios at PIH 6 to 24 in group B. The decrease of CD4+/CD8+ ratios at PIH 6 to 24 resulted mainly from greater CD8+ cell concentrations in milk. In contrast, at PIH 72, CD4+/CD8+ ratios increased about 2-fold in both groups. This increase was mainly due to the increase in CD4+ cell concentration. The increased concentration of CD4+ cells coincided with an increase in the CD21+ cell population in the milk. In blood, the increase of CD8+ cells appeared much faster in group B (PIH 6 and 12) than in group A. The results from lymphoproliferation also indicated a greater increase in the proliferative response in both blood and milk lymphocytes of group B. Our study demonstrates for the first time that an increase of E. coli inoculum dose accelerates the trafficking of CD8+ cells during initiation of E. coli mastitis, and these cells are the predominant T cells in milk during the early hours of bovine E. coli mastitis.
