Phytoestrogens are non-steroidal estrogens produced from plants that can bind with the human body's estrogenic receptor site and be used as a substitute for maintaining hormonal balance. They are mainly classified as flavonoids, phenolic acids, lignans, stilbenes, and coumestans; some are resocyclic acids of lactones, which are mycotoxins and not natural phytoestrogen. Phytoestrogens have many beneficial medicinal properties, making them an important part of the daily diet. Electrochemical sensors are widely used analytical tools for analysing various pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pollutants and food items. Electrochemical sensors provide an extensive platform for highly sensitive and rapid analysis. Several reviews have been published on the importance of the biological and medicinal properties of phytoestrogens. However, this review provides an overview of recent work performed through electrochemical measurements with electrochemical sensors and biosensors for all the classes of phytoestrogens done so far since 2019.

RESUMO

A novel and robust electrochemical sensing tool for the determination of vismodegib (VIS), an anticancer drug, has been developed by integrating the selective recognition capabilities of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) and the sensitivity enhancement capability of metal-organic framework (MOF). Prior to this step, the electrochemical behavior of VIS was investigated using a bare glassy carbon electrode (GCE). It was observed that in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution as electrolyte, VIS has an oxidation peak around 1.3 V and the oxidation mechanism is diffusion controlled. The determination of VIS in a standard solution using a bare GCE showed a linear response in the concentration range from 2.5 µM to 100 µM, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.75 µM. Since sufficient sensitivity and selectivity could not be achieved with bare GCE, a MIP sensor was developed in the next step of the study. For this purpose, the GCE surface was first modified by drop casting with as-synthesized Co-MOF. Subsequently, a MIP network was synthesized via a thermal polymerization approach using 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) as monomer and VIS as template. MOFs are ideal electrode materials due to their controllable and diverse morphologies and modifiable surface properties. These characteristics enable the development of MIPs with more homogeneous binding sites and high affinity for target molecules. Integrating MOFs could help the performance of sensors with the desired stability and reproducibility. Electrochemical analysis revealed an observable enhancement of the output signal by the incorporation of MOF molecules, which is consistent with the sensitivity-enhancing role of MOF by providing more anchoring sites for the attachment of the polymer texture to the electrode surface. This MOF-MIP sensor exhibited impressive linear dynamic ranges ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 pM for VIS, with detection limits in the low picomolar range. In addition, the MOF-MIP sensor offers high accuracy, selectivity and precision for the determination of VIS, with no interference observed from complex media of serum samples. Additionally, in this study, Analytical GREEnness metric (AGREE), Analytical GREEnness preparation (AGREEprep) and Blue Applicability Grade Index (BAGI) were used to calculate the green profile score.

Ovarian cancer, which affects the female reproductive organs, is one of the most common types of cancer. Since this type of cancer has a high mortality rate from gynaecological cancers, the scientific community shows great interest in studies on its treatment. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical treatment methods are used in its treatment. In the absence of targeted treatments in these treatment methods, side effects occur in patients, and patients show resistance to the drug. In addition, the underlying causes of ovarian cancer are still not fully known. The scientific world thinks that genetic factors, environmental conditions, and consumed foods may cause this cancer. The most important factor in the treatment of ovarian cancer is early diagnosis. Therefore, the drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer are platinum-based anticancer drugs. In addition to these drugs, the most preferred treatment method recently is targeted treatment approaches using poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. In this review, studies on the sensitive analysis of the treatment methods of these new-generation drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer have been comprehensively examined. In addition, the basic features, structural aspects, and biological data of analytical methods used in treatments with new-generation drugs are explained. Analytical studies carried out in the literature in recent years aim to show future developments in how these new-generation drugs are used today and to guide future studies by comprehensively examining and explaining the structure-activity relationship, mechanism of action, toxicity, and pharmacokinetic studies. Finally, in this study, the methods used in the analysis of drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer and the studies conducted between 2015 and 2023 were discussed in detail.

The escalating costs of healthcare services and a growing awareness of personal health responsibilities have led individuals to explore natural methods alongside conventional medicines for health improvement and disease prevention. The aging global population is experiencing increased health needs, notably related to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Lifestyle-related diseases, poor dietary habits, and sedentary lifestyles underscore the importance of foods containing nutrients that can aid in preventing and managing these diseases. Phenolic compounds, a fundamental group of phytochemicals, are prominent in the chemical diversity of the natural world and are abundant in functional foods. Widely distributed in various plant parts, these compounds exhibit important functional and sensory properties, including color, taste, and aroma. Their diverse functionalities, particularly antioxidant activity, play a crucial role in mitigating cellular oxidative stress, potentially reducing damage associated with serious health issues such as cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disea23ses, and cancer. Phenolic compounds exist in different forms, some combined with glycosides, impacting their biological effects and absorption. Approximately 8000 polyphenols isolated from plants offer significant potential for natural medicines and nutritional supplements. Therefore, their extraction process and selective and sensitive food determination are very important. This review focuses on the extraction processes, analytical methods, and health effects of major phenolic compounds in foods. The examination encompasses a comprehensive analysis of analytical approaches and their applications in elucidating the presence and impact of these compounds on human health.

Prostate and lung cancers are the most common types of cancer and affect a large part of the population around the world, causing deaths. Therefore, the rapid identification of cancer can profoundly impact reducing cancer-related death rates and protecting human lives. Significant resources have been dedicated to investigating new methods for early disease detection. Cancer biomarkers encompass various biochemical entities, including nucleic acids, proteins, sugars, small metabolites, cytogenetic and cytokinetic parameters, and whole tumor cells in bodily fluids. These tools can be utilized for various purposes, such as risk assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment efficacy, toxicity evaluation, and predicting a return. Due to these versatile and critical purposes, there are widespread studies on the development of new, sensitive, and selective approaches for the determination of cancer biomarkers. This review illustrates the significant lung and prostate cancer biomarkers and their determination utilizing electrochemical sensors, which have the advantage of improved sensitivity, low cost, and simple analysis. Additionally, approaches such as improving sensitivity with nanomaterials and ensuring selectivity with MIPs are used to increase the performance of the sensor. This review aims to overview the most recent electrochemical biosensor applications for determining vital biomarkers of prostate and lung cancers in terms of nanobiosensors and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based biosensors.

OBJECTIVE: Prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment are increasing in current public healthcare programs. An improved resolution multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has shown the potential to enhance the detection and differentiation of this medical condition. In this study, MR perfusion parameters were investigated in different ages and diseases to differentiate clinically significant prostate cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS: From January 2017 to December 2022, 72 consecutive patients, who had undergone multiparametric MR imaging were enrolled in this study. Four different patient groups were formed: (1) those with prostate cancer, (2) those with prostatitis, (3) those with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), and (4) a control group. Quantitative dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI pharmacokinetic parameters included Ktrans, Kep, Ve, and iAUG. Different measurements were obtained from both the peripheral and transitional zones (PZ and TZ, respectively). Means values were compared between groups based on a univariate analysis. RESULTS: Ktrans and Kep values in the PZ were found to be statistically significantly lower in the control group (p = 0. 003 and p = 0. 011, respectively). It was seen that Ktrans and Ve measurements obtained from PZ had a statistically significant determinant in detecting malignancy (p = 0. 013 and p = 0. 036, respectively). It was seen that Ktrans, Ve, and iAUG obtained from the TZ showed a statistically significant difference in prostate cancer (p = 0.025, p = 0.005, and p = 0. 011, respectively) in contrast to other cases. Peripheral Ve values were statistically significantly lower than those measured Ve values from the TZ in prostate cancer cases (p = 0.002) in contrast to the other cases. CONCLUSIONS: Quantitative DCE-MRI parameters may vary according to age, disease, and zonal anatomy. These differences may contribute to the diagnosis of clinically relevant prostate cancer.

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to compare the risk of developing complications between patients who had long-term COVID-19 and those who did not. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective study involving a total of 265 patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty surgery. A cohort of patients (Group 1) who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 six months prior to total knee arthroplasty was established and matched to a cohort of patients who had never been diagnosed with COVID-19 (Group 2). Demographic information such as age and gender, underlying diseases, postoperative complications (surgical site infection, wound problem, periprosthetic fracture, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary thromboembolism, hematoma, pneumonia, urinary tract infection) and exitus were recorded. RESULTS: Of the 265 patients, 217 (81.9%) were females and 48 (18.1%) were males. 41 of these patients (15.5%) previously had COVID-19 (Group 1). The number of people who did not have COVID-19 was 224 (84.5%) (Group 2). There was no difference between group 1 and group 2 in terms of complications. CONCLUSIONS: This study found that the rate of complications, including deep vein thrombosis, in patients who had COVID-19 six months before total knee arthroplasty was not higher than those who did not.

BACKGROUND: Sorafenib (SOR) is a multikinase inhibitor anticancer drug that is used in treating non-small cell lung cancer. In this work, we focused on developing nanomaterial-supported smart porous interfaces by following the molecular imprinting approach for the selective determination of SOR. Determination-based studies in the literature for SOR are limited, and they are chromatographic techniques-based; hence, there is a need in the literature to elaborate the selective and sensitive analysis/monitoring of SOR in both biological and pharmaceutical samples with more studies. RESULTS: The results showed that adding ZnO NPs enhanced the signal five times compared to the solo molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). Under the optimized conditions, ZnO/AMPS@MIP-GCE showed a linear response in the concentration range between 1.0 × 10-12 and 1.0 × 10-11 M with LOD and LOQ values of 2.25 × 10-13 M and 7.51 × 10-13 M, respectively, in the serum sample. The selectivity study was conducted against common cations, anions, and compounds such as dopamine, paracetamol, ascorbic acid, and uric acid. Also, the imprinting factor (IF) analysis was performed on selected drug substances having structural similarities to SOR and the relative IF values of regorafenib, leflunomide, teriflunomide, nilotinib, axitinib, and dasatinib indicated the selectivity of the developed sensor for SOR. Finally, ZnO/AMPS@MIP-GCE was implemented to determine SOR in the spiked commercial human serum samples and tablet dosage form with bias% between -0.43 and + 0.66. SIGNIFICANCE AND NOVELTY: This study is the first electrochemical study for the determination of SOR, and thanks to the ZnO NPs supported MIP sensor, it stands out in terms of both high sensitivity and superior selectivity. Also, this designed sensor provides controlled orientation of the template and complete removal of templates in a one-step process, allowing extremely low detection and quantification limits.

OBJECTIVE: In this retrospective study, we compared the functionality and clinical outcomes of patients with severe varus knees who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) that used prostheses with either a posterior stabilized (PS) design or an ultra-congruent (UC) design. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Primary TKA was performed in 161 patients; the UC device was used in 82 (51%) cases and the PS device in 79 (49%). Preoperatively and at the final follow-up examination, all patients were evaluated by orthoroentgenography. The mechanical axis angle and radiolucent lines were evaluated according to the Knee Society Roentgenographic Evaluation System on preoperative and 5-year follow-up radiographs. Total Knee Society Score (KSS) (knee score/function score) and Visual Analog Scale scores were obtained at the final follow-up examination. Demographic and surgical data and revision rates were evaluated for all patients. RESULTS: Postoperative angle values were significantly decreased in both the UC and PS groups (p<0.001 and p<0.001, respectively). Postoperative flexion range of motion values were significantly increased in both the UC and PS groups (p<0.001 and p<0.001, respectively). The postoperative KSS function scores were not significantly different between the groups (p=0.194). The mean surgical time of the PS group (54.99±4.18 minutes) was significantly higher than that of the UC group (46.02±4.48 minutes) (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: No notable differences were found between the UC and PS groups with respect to the clinical and functional parameters examined. Based on these results, UC TKA can be considered a safe alternative to PS TKA in severe varus knees.

Regorafenib (REG) is a diphenylurea derivative oral multikinase inhibitor. It plays an important role in the treatment of colorectal cancer, metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) based glassy carbon electrodes (GCE) were fabricated using photopolymerization (PP) and thermal polymerization (TP) methods. The characterizations of the proposed sensors were investigated by electrochemical techniques, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Several parameters were studied in detail for the optimum conditions of MIP-based sensors, such as dropping volume, photopolymerization and thermal polymerization durations, removal medium and time, and rebinding time. Both sensors' analytical validation and electroanalytical performance comparison were made in different REG concentrations ranging between 0.1 nM and 2.5 nM in standard solution and commercial human serum samples. The limit of detection (LOD) of PP-REG@MIP/GCE and TP-REG@MIP/GCE were 9.13 × 10-12 M and 1.44 × 10-11 M in standard solutions and 2.04 × 10-11 M and 2.02 × 10-11 M in serum samples, respectively. The applicability of the proposed sensors was tested using commercial human serum samples and pharmaceutical form of REG with high recovery values (PP-REG@MIP/GCE and TP REG@MIP/GCE sensors, 99.56-101.59%, respectively). The selectivity of the sensor for REG was investigated in the presence of similar molecules: Sorafenib, Sunitinib, Nilotinib, and Imatinib. The developed techniques and sensors checked the possible biological compounds and ions' effects and storage stability.

Cancer, becoming increasingly common globally, has a high mortality rate. Despite the much research on diagnosis and treatment methods, the benefits of technological developments, and newly developed sensor devices, cancer is still one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Early detection using powerful and noninvasive tools could be a future focus for prognosis and treatment follow-up. Therefore, electrochemical biosensors can be a strong choice for the detection of cancer biomarkers (such as alpha-fetoprotein, cytochrome c, prostate-specific antigen, myoglobin, carcinoembryonic antigen, alpha-fetoprotein, a cancer antigen, epidermal growth factor receptor, vascular endothelial growth factor, circulating tumor cell, and breast cancer antigen 1/2) due to their advantages such as high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, low cost, short analysis time, and simplicity. Furthermore, electrochemical biosensors are better suited for point-of-care applications due to their mass production and miniaturization ease. This review provides an overview of different electrochemical measurement techniques, bioreceptor surfaces, signal production and amplification, and the integration of electrochemical-modified sensors. Cancer biomarkers based on electrochemical biosensors were given in detail. In addition, studies with MIP-based sensors and immunosensors have been extensively discussed. Integrating electrochemical biosensors with cancer biomarkers was also emphasized as a new research trend. Finally, we provide an overview of current advances in measuring and analyzing cancer biomarkers using electrochemical biosensors and detail current challenges and future perspectives.

The rapid quantification of toxins in food and beverage products has become a significant issue in overcoming and preventing many life-threatening diseases. Aflatoxin-contaminated food is one of the reasons for primary liver cancer and induces some tumors and cancer types. Advancements in biosensors technology have brought out different analysis methods. Therefore, the sensing performance has been improved for agricultural and beverage industries or food control processes. Nanomaterials are widely used for the enhancement of sensing performance. The enzymes, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), antibodies, and aptamers can be used as biorecognition elements. The transducer part of the biosensor can be selected, such as optical, electrochemical, and mass-based. This review explains the classification of major types of aflatoxins, the importance of nanomaterials, electrochemical, optical biosensors, and QCM and their applications for the determination of aflatoxins.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in women and the third in men. Anaemia is a common condition in patients with CRC. Aim: In this study, we aimed to retrospectively analyse the relationship between preoperative anaemia (POA) and postoperative complications in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) that underwent elective surgery. Patients and Methods: The data of patients who underwent elective curative surgery for CRC between January 2015 and December 2020 and had pathologically-proven cancer were evaluated retrospectively. We examined the effect of demographic characteristics of patients, preoperative haemoglobin, cancer localization (colon/rectum), American Society of Anaesthesiologist (ASA) classification, preoperative co-morbidity, surgical method (laparoscopic/open), stoma status, tumor stage, presence of preoperative anaemia on surgical site infection, pulmonary complications, renal complications, anastomotic leaks, and need for intensive care and re-operation in the postoperative period. Results: Of the 352 patients who underwent curative resection for CRC, 177 (50.3%) were diagnosed with POA. The median haemoglobin value was 10.7 g/dl in POA patients while it was 13.6 g/dl in the non-POA group. Regarding the localization of tumor, the patients with tumors on the right colon were more statistically significant in terms of POA (p < 0.05). Patients with POA had a higher rate of hypertension and coronary artery disease compared to patients without POA (p < 0.05). In patients with POA, surgical site infection and need for intensive care were statistically significant in the postoperative period compared to patients without POA (p < 0.05, P < 0.01, respectively). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups regarding pulmonary complications, renal complications, anastomotic leaks, and need for re-operation in the postoperative period. Conclusion: We believe that POA should be corrected prior to surgery to reduce not only the need for intensive care but also surgical site infection in patients undergoing elective curative surgery for CRC.

SUMMARY: Introduction.Hypersensitivity reactions to chemotherapeutic drugs are increasing all over the world, and desensitization to them has become the standard treatment approach. This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of chemotherapeutic drug hypersensitivity reactions and the outcome of desensitization procedures. Methods. Between January 2017 and 2019, patients who have been desensitized to chemotherapeutic drugs were included retrospectively. Data were obtained from the medical records of the patients. Results. A total of 35 patients were evaluated; of whom 24 (68.5%) were female and 11 were male (31.5%). The mean age was 54.54 ± 13.39 (min-max: 41-69) years. Colorectal cancer was the most common malignancy (n:14, 40%). Desensitization was performed with oxaliplatin in 17 (48.5%), carboplatin in nine (25.7%), paclitaxel in four (11.4%), cisplatin in two (5.7%), irinotecan in two (5.7%), rituximab in two (5.7%), and docetaxel in one (2.8%) patients. Thirty four (97.1%) were successfully desensitized without any reactions. Anaphylaxis occurred during desensitization with rituximab and the procedure could not be completed. The reactions occurred during the first administration of the chemotherapeutic agent in five (14.2%) patients. Skin tests were performed on 26 (74.2%) patients. Skin prick and intradermal tests were positive in 7 (26.9%) and 12 (46.1%) patients, respectively. Conclusions. Desensitization is an effective and safe treatment approach for chemotherapeutic drug hypersensitivity and can be performed safely by observing general precautions to anaphylaxis.

Azo-dyes such as Allura Red, Carmoisine, Amaranth, Sunset Yellow (SY), Brilliant Blue, Tartrazine (Tz), etc., are popular as food coloring agents due to their low cost and stability. SY and Tz are the most used members of this group of dyes since they have similar colors and are usually used together in food products. Despite their advantageous industrial use, they exhibit a risk toxicity profile with adverse effects such as allergy, asthma, carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, cytotoxicity, anxiety, etc. Therefore, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) regulate the permissions for using these compounds to provide safe food products for consumers and prevent adverse effects both short and long-term. Considering all of these, for the analysis of azo toxic dyes, highly sensitive, low-cost, simple, and rapid sensors are necessary. Electrochemical nanosensors, which combine the unique features of electrochemistry and nanotechnology, are devices with all these advantages and are widely used for the determination of azo dyes. SY and Tz step forth as the most used food dyes in the class of azo-toxic dyes. They are often preferred together in food products, increasing the occurrence and exposure risk. Therefore, the analysis of Sunset Yellow and Tartrazine in food products has significant importance. In this review, the latest nanomaterial-based approaches for the electrochemical sensors on the analysis of SY and Tz in food samples were evaluated in terms of used nanomaterials and applied food samples.

In this study, a novel, fast, selective, and sensitive molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based electrochemical sensor was developed to determine axitinib (AXI) at low concentrations in pharmaceutical dosage forms and human serum. The newly developed MIP-based sensor (MIP@o-PD/GCE) was designed through electropolymerization of functional monomer o-phenylenediamine (o-PD) in the presence of a template molecule AXI, on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using cyclic voltammetry. Differential pulse voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques were employed for removal and rebinding processes, optimization of conditions, as well as for performance evaluation of MIP@o-PD/GCE using [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- as the redox probe. Under the optimum experimental conditions, MIP@o-PD/GCE shows a linear response toward AXI in a range of 1 × 10-13 M - 1 × 10-12 M. The limit of the detection value of MIP@o-PD/GCE was found as 0.027 pM while the limit of the quantification was obtained as 0.089 pM, respectively. To demonstrate the applicability and validity of the developed sensor, it was successfully applied to tablet dosage form and human serum sample. The selectivity of the sensor was qualified by comparing the binding of AXI, erlotinib, dasatinib, nilotinib, and imatinib, which are similarly structured and in the same group of anticancer drugs. MIP@o-PD/GCE sensor showed a significant selectivity toward AXI. The non-imprinted polymer (NIP) based GCE was prepared and used to control the analytical performance of the MIP-based electrochemical sensor.

OBJECTIVES: For many years, tumor development has been viewed as a cell-autonomous process; however, today we know that the tumor microenvironment (TME) and especially cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) significantly contribute to tumor progression. Caveolin-1 (Cav-1) is a scaffolding protein which is involved in several cancer-associated processes as important component of the caveolae. Our goal was to shed light on the expression of the two different isoforms of Cav-1 in normal fibroblasts (NFs) and CAFs of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fibroblasts from normal mucosa and CAFs were isolated and propagated in vitro. Gene expression of the different Cav-1 isoforms was assessed via quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and supplemented by protein expression analysis. RESULTS: We could show that the Cav-1ß isoform is more highly expressed in NFs and CAFs compared to Cav-1α. Furthermore, the different Cav-1 isoforms tended to be differently expressed in different tumor stages. However, this trend could not be seen consistently, which is in line with the ambiguous role of Cav-1 in tumor progression described in literature. Western blotting furthermore revealed that NFs and CAFs might differ in the oligomerization profile of the Cav-1 protein. CONCLUSION: These differences in expression of Cav-1 between NFs and CAFs of patients with OSCC confirm that the protein might play a role in tumor progression and is of interest for further analyses. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Our findings support a possible role of the two isoforms of Cav-1 in the malignant transformation of OSCC.

Crigler-Najjar syndrome is a rare disease which is associated with congenital deficiency of uridine-diphosphate-gulukronyltransferase (UDP-glucuronosyltransferase, UGT) enzyme. In the surgery of these patients, it is necessary to use an anesthetic method that causes less damage to the liver. Spinal anesthesia is a good alternative to general anesthesia in these patients. Transversus abdominis plane block is a new method for ultrasound guided abdominal wall block. It is less invasive and relatively safer than conventional regional anesthetic techniques. Our case is a 30-year-old male patient with the diagnosis of Crigler-Najjar type 2 (Arias syndrome). There was a history of gallbladder edema, multiple stones and thickened gallbladder wall. We applied Transversus abdominis plane block in addition to spinal anesthesia as primary anesthesia for our patient who underwent laparoscopic surgery. We didn't experience any postoperative complications in our patient. In conclusion, laparoscopic surgery performed under combined spinal anesthesia and transvesus abdominis plane block in a Criggler Najjar type 2 (Arias syndrome) patient may be a simple and effective technique.

In this work, a novel nanosensing platform was suggested based on ruthenium for the sensitive determination of Idarubicin anticancer drugs. Ruthenium/Vulcan carbon-based nanoparticles were synthesized ultrasonication method and then characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The mean particle size of the nanoparticles calculated by the TEM analysis was found to be 1.98 nm ± 0.29 nm, and the Ru nanoparticles were mostly dispersed on the support material. Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface was modified with Ruthenium/Vulcan carbon-based nanomaterials (Ru@VC), and characterization of the nanosensor was performed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) values were found as 9.25 × 10-9 M and 2.8 × 10-8 M in buffer samples. To demonstrate the applicability and validity of developed nanosensor, it was used for the determination of Idarubicin in Idamen® IV (10 mg/10 mL vial) and human serum sample. The results of recovery studies showed that the Ru@VC/GCE nanosensor was free from excipient interferences in the dosage forms of injection, and it can be successfully applied to biological samples.
