Background: This retrospective cohort study aimed to compare the outcomes of graft angiography using these two approaches. Methods: Medical records and angiographic data of adult patients who underwent graft angiography between January 2020 and December 2022 were analyzed. Results: The study included 452 patients in the distal radial access (DRA) group and 960 patients in the femoral access group. Angiographic characteristics showed a higher prevalence of triple vessel disease in the femoral access group (29.8% vs. 20.8%; p = 0.012). The DRA group had a procedural success rate of 93.0%, while the femoral access group had a higher success rate of 95.8%. The odds ratio was 0.66 (95% CI: 0.46-0.94), indicating lower odds of procedural success in the DRA group. Conclusion: Our study suggests that both DRA and femoral access are effective and safe approaches for graft angiography after coronary artery bypass surgery.


This study compared graft angiography outcomes using wrist (distal radial) and groin (femoral) access in patients after coronary artery bypass surgery. Analyzing data from January 2020 to December 2022, 452 patients used wrist access, and 960 used groin access, with similar age and heart function across groups. Femoral access had more cases of triple vessel disease (29.8% vs. 20.8%) and a higher success rate (95.8% vs. 93.0%), with wrist access showing lower odds of procedural success. Despite this, both methods proved to be effective and safe.

Background and Aims: The upper thoracic (T2) erector spinae plane block (UT-ESPB) has been proposed as an alternative to interscalene brachial plexus block for postoperative analgesia in shoulder surgery. The current study was conducted to evaluate the same. Material and Methods: Patients scheduled for shoulder surgery under general anesthesia (GA) received ultrasound-guided UT-ESPB. The outcomes measured were diaphragmatic movements, block characteristics, and quality of recovery at 24 h. Results: A total of 43 patients were recruited. The incidence of phrenic nerve palsy was 0%. The sensory level achieved by the maximum number of patients at the end of 30 min was C7-T5 level, and none had a motor block. Forty-two percent of patients did not require rescue analgesia till 24 h postoperative. In the rest of the patients, the mean (SD) duration of analgesia was 724.2 ± 486.80 min, and the mean postoperative requirement of fentanyl was 98.80 ± 47.02 µg. The median pain score (NRS) during rest and movement is 2 to 3 and 3 to 4, respectively. The median quality of recovery score at the end of 24 h after the block was 14 (15-14). Conclusion: The upper thoracic ESPB resulted in a sensory loss from C7-T5 dermatomes without any weakness of the diaphragm and upper limb. However, the block was moderately effective in terms of the total duration of analgesia, postoperative pain scores, analgesic requirement, and quality of recovery in patients undergoing proximal shoulder surgeries under GA. Further studies are required to establish its role due to its poor correlation with sensory spread.

Magnesium transporter 1 (MAGT1) gene loss-of-function variants lead to X-linked MAGT1 deficiency with increased susceptibility to EBV infection and N-glycosylation defect (XMEN), a condition with a variety of clinical and immunological effects. In addition, MAGT1 deficiency has been classified as a congenital disorder of glycosylation (CDG) due to its unique role in glycosylation of multiple substrates including NKG2D, necessary for viral protection. Due to the predisposition for EBV, this etiology has been linked with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), however only limited literature exists. Here we present a complex case with HLH and EBV-driven classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) as the presenting manifestation of underlying immune defect. However, the patient's underlying immunodeficiency was not identified until his second recurrence of Hodgkin disease, recurrent episodes of Herpes Zoster, and after he had undergone autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) for refractory Hodgkin lymphoma. This rare presentation of HLH and recurrent lymphomas without some of the classical immune deficiency manifestations of MAGT1 deficiency led us to review the literature for similar presentations and to report the evolving spectrum of disease in published literature. Our systematic review showcased that MAGT1 predisposes to multiple viruses (including EBV) and adds risk of viral-driven neoplasia. The roles of MAGT1 in the immune system and glycosylation were highlighted through the multiple organ dysfunction showcased by the previously validated Immune Deficiency and Dysregulation Activity (IDDA2.1) score and CDG-specific Nijmegen Pediatric CDG Rating Scale (NPCRS) score for the patient cohort in the systematic review.

Iliopsoas abscess is an infrequent condition characterized by the collection of pus in the iliopsoas compartment. The prevalence of the disease has been increasing in recent years with the emergence of various comorbidities and risk factors. The availability of newer imaging modalities has also improved the detection of new cases. Salmonellosis is an uncommon etiology in iliopsoas abscess and sacroiliitis. Most cases reported in the literature are associated with Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci species, and Escherichia coli. Diabetes, hematological malignancies, HIV, and other immunocompromised states are important comorbidities/risk factors for iliopsoas abscess. We report a case of an 18-year-old male who presented with a history of fever and right hip pain for 10 days. Radioimaging revealed right sacroiliitis and iliopsoas abscess. Blood culture revealed pan-sensitive Salmonella typhi. After the prolonged course of antibiotics (intravenous ceftriaxone followed by oral levofloxacin), the patient improved with no further relapse in symptoms. Salmonella typhi should be an important differential of iliopsoas abscess in endemic regions after ruling out the common etiology such as S. aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

ECG changes in pneumothorax have gained recognition as important indicators of cardiopulmonary interactions. This narrative review examines the existing literature to provide insights into the various ECG abnormalities observed in patients with pneumothorax, their underlying mechanisms, and clinical implications. The review highlights the commonly reported changes, including alterations in the electrical axis, ST segment deviations, T-wave abnormalities, and arrhythmias. The rightward shift of the electrical axis is attributed to cardiac displacement caused by increased intrathoracic pressure. ST segment deviations may reflect the influence of altered intrathoracic pressure on myocardial oxygen supply and demand. T-wave abnormalities may result from altered myocardial repolarization and hypoxemia. Arrhythmias, although varying in incidence and type, have been associated with pneumothorax. The clinical implications of these ECG changes are discussed, emphasizing their role in diagnosis, risk stratification, treatment optimization, and prognostication. Additionally, future research directions are outlined, including prospective studies, mechanistic investigations, and the integration of artificial intelligence. Enhancing our understanding of ECG changes in pneumothorax can lead to improved patient care, better management strategies, and the development of evidence-based guidelines. The objective of this review is to demonstrate the presence of various ECG abnormalities in patients with pneumothorax.

Splicing factor 3b subunit 1 (SF3B1) is the largest subunit and core component of the spliceosome. Inhibition of SF3B1 was associated with an increase in broad intron retention (IR) on most transcripts, suggesting that IR can be used as a marker of spliceosome inhibition in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells. Furthermore, we separately analyzed exonic and intronic mapped reads on annotated RNA-sequencing transcripts obtained from B cells (n = 98 CLL patients) and healthy volunteers (n = 9). We measured intron/exon ratio to use that as a surrogate for alternative RNA splicing (ARS) and found that 66% of CLL-B cell transcripts had significant IR elevation compared with normal B cells (NBCs) and that correlated with mRNA downregulation and low expression levels. Transcripts with the highest IR levels belonged to biological pathways associated with gene expression and RNA splicing. A >2-fold increase of active pSF3B1 was observed in CLL-B cells compared with NBCs. Additionally, when the CLL-B cells were treated with macrolides (pladienolide-B), a significant decrease in pSF3B1, but not total SF3B1 protein, was observed. These findings suggest that IR/ARS is increased in CLL, which is associated with SF3B1 phosphorylation and susceptibility to SF3B1 inhibitors. These data provide additional support to the relevance of ARS in carcinogenesis and evidence of pSF3B1 participation in this process.

The Wnt/ß-Catenin pathway (Wnt/ß-CatP) is implicated in accelerating carcinogenesis and cancer progression, contributing to increased morbidity and treatment resistance. Even though it holds promise as a focus for cancer treatment, its intricate nature and diverse physiological effects pose significant challenges. Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in this domain, with numerous natural products demonstrating promising preclinical anti-tumor effects and identified as inhibitors of the Wnt/ß-CatP through various upstream and downstream mechanisms. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of Wnt/ß-Cat-targeted cancer therapy, examining the impact of natural products on Wnt/ß-Cat signaling in both cancer prevention and therapeutic contexts. A comprehensive search was conducted on scientific databases like SciFinder, PubMed, and Google Scholar to retrieve relevant literature on Wnt-signaling, natural products, ß-Catenin (ß-Cat), and cancer from 2020 to January 2024. As per the analysis of the relevant reference within the specified period, it has been noted that a total of 58 phytoconstituents, predominantly phenolics, followed by triterpenoids and several other classes, along with a limited number of plant extracts, have exhibited activity targeting the Wnt/ß-CatP. Most ß-Cat regulating modulators restrict cancer cell development by suppressing ß-Cat expression, facilitating proteasomal degradation, and inhibiting nuclear translocation. Multiple approaches have been devised to block the activity of ß-Cat in cancer therapy, a key factor in cancer progression, leading to the discovery of various Wnt/ß-CatP regulators. However, their exploration remains limited, necessitating further research using clinical models for potential clinical use in cancer prevention and therapeutics.

For sodium batteries, the development of gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) with remarkable electrochemical properties is in its early stage and persists to be a challenge. In this report we have synthesized a series of GPEs containing a poly(vinyllidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as blend polymer, sodium perchlorate (NaClO4) as ion-conducting salt and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (EMIM-BF4) and tetra ethylene glycol dimethyl ether (TEGDME) as molecular solvents. The counter balance between EMIM-BF4 and TEGDME is maintained by the electrolyte, which is formed through the optimal weight ratio of 2 : 1. GPEs have an advantageous set of properties, including stability window of 5 V, Na+ transference number of 0.20, and a room-temperature ionic conductivity of 5.8 × 10-3 S cm-1. According to enthalpy and entropy calculations, optimized GPE yields the highest amount of disorder or amorphicity and contributes to greatest conductivity. XRD analysis supports this argument. Thermal investigations show that optimized GPE may preserve gel phase up to 125 °C. The prototype sodium cell fabricated with optimize GPE has a specific capacity of 281 mA h g-1 and open circuit voltage of 2.5 V. The optimized GPE exhibits potential for future electrochemical applications.

Malignant solitary fibrous tumor of the breast is one of the rarest types of breast malignancy. To the best of our knowledge, only six cases have been reported so far. Here we have presented such a case from India, where a 52-year-old lady presented with a 10 cm x 8 cm breast lump. Diagnosis was achieved with the help of FDG PET, histopathology and immunohistochemistry, which showed nuclear positivity for STAT6. Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) molecular study for SS18-SSX was used to rule out the differential diagnosis of synovial sarcoma. Guidelines for the management of this type of breast malignancy still do not exist. We have done a review of the literature in order to discuss which might be the best management in such cases. Evidence on this very rarest type of breast malignancy is still evolving. The interest in the case described here relies on its rarity, difficulties in achieving diagnosis and formulation of the proper management.

Clemastine is an antagonist of histamine H1 receptor may provide benefits in the treatment of osteosarcoma (OS). In the current study, we used hyperthermia approach to sensitize OS cells to clemastine-mediated cell death. Osteosarcoma U-2 OS and Saos-2 cells were treated with clemastine at 37°C, followed by 42°C for 2 h, and released at 37°C for 6 h. The impact of clemastine and hyperthermia on OS cell survival and autophagy-mediated cell death was investigated. Exposure of U-2 OS and Saos-2 cells to clemastine and hyperthermia (42°C) inhibited dose-dependent clemastine-mediated cell survival by increasing cell apoptosis. Hyperthermia and clemastine exposure modulated inflammatory and unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling differentially in U-2 OS and Saos-2 cells. Exposure of U-2 OS and Saos-2 cells to hyperthermia and clemastine inhibited AKT/mTOR and induced expression of the autophagy biomarkers LC3B II and LC3-positive puncta formation. The inhibition of autophagy by 3-methyladenine blocked hyperthermia and clemastine-mediated induction of LC3B II, LC3-positive puncta formation, and OS cell apoptosis. These results indicate that clemastine and hyperthermia sensitize OS cell lines by inducing increased autophagic cell death. Collectively, our data suggest that hyperthermia along with antihistamine therapy may provide an improved approach for the treatment of OS.

Essential oils are natural compounds extracted from plants that are volatile and sensitive to heat. Due to their therapeutic value, essential oils are now used in many industries, including the sanitary, cosmetic, agricultural, food, and pharmaceutical industries. These are complex mixtures of a wide range of volatile molecules, including phenol-derived aliphatic and aromatic compounds and terpenoids. Essential oils have been used medicinally since ancient times for their antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antiparasitic, insecticidal, sedative, antiinflammatory, and anaesthetic properties. However, essential oils come with inherent limitations; thus, nanoencapsulation is advocated as a remedy as it has the potential to enhance the stability, solubility, and effectiveness of formulations based on essential oils, all while preserving the therapeutic drug blood levels. It is not always viable to use essential oils independently in treatment due to several restrictions; however, nanodelivery technologies appear capable of overcoming these challenges. The therapeutic efficacy that is achieved can be affected by several factors, including the selection of the essential oil as well as the system of nanodelivery. Today, nanoencapsulation is capable of enabling the simultaneous delivery of multiple oils, providing synergistic effects, and facilitating the development of combinational therapies. Additionally, they may have potential applications in preserving food to prolong the shelf life of quickspoiling items and their fragrances. While there is already much research on the characterisation of EOs, this review evaluates the features of the nanoparticles employed for the delivery of essential oils and their impact on the functionality of nano-delivered essential oils and their beneficial uses.

The second-most common cause of death resulting from genetic mutations in DNA sequences is cancer. The difficulty in the field of anticancer research is the application of the traditional methods, which also affects normal cells. Mutations, genetic replication alterations, and chromosomal abnormalities have a direct impact on the effectiveness of anticancer drugs at different stages. Presently, therapeutic techniques utilize nanotechnology, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), and robotics. TMDCs are being increasingly employed in tumor therapy and biosensing applications due to their biocompatibility, adjustable bandgap, versatile functionality, exceptional photoelectric properties, and wide range of applications. This study reports the advancement of nanoplatforms based on TMDCs that are specifically engineered for responsive and intelligent cancer therapy. This article offers a thorough examination of the current challenges, future possibilities for theranostic applications using TMDCs, and recent progress in employing TMDCs for cancer therapy. Currently, there is significant interest in two-dimensional (2D) TMDCs nanomaterials as ultrathin unique physicochemical properties. These materials have attracted attention in various fields, including biomedicine. Due to their inherent ability to absorb near-infrared light and their exceptionally large surface area, significant efforts are being made to prepare multifunctional nanoplatforms based on 2D TMDCs.

The ultimate goal of nanoparticle-based phototherapy is to suppress tumor growth. Photothermal therapy (PTT) and photothermal photodynamic therapy (PDT) are two types of physicochemical therapy that use light radiation with multiple wavelength ranges in the near-infrared to treat cancer. When a laser is pointed at tissue, photons are taken in the intercellular and intracellular regions, converting photon energy to heat. It has attracted much interest and research in recent years. The advent of transition materials dichalcogenides (TMDCs) is a revolutionary step in PDT/PTT-based cancer therapy. The TMDCs is a multilayer 2D nano-composite. TMDCs contain three atomic layers in which two chalcogens squash in the transition metal. The chalcogen atoms are highly reactive, and the surface characteristics of TMDCs help them to target deep cancer cells. They absorb Near Infrared (NIR), which kills deep cancer cells. In this review, we have discussed the history and mechanism of PDT/PTT and the use of TMDCs and nanoparticle-based systems, which have been practiced for theranostics purposes. We have also discussed PDT/PTT combined with immunotherapy, in which the cancer cell apoptosis is done by activating the immune cells, such as CD8+.

Enteric fever is a major contributor to rising health care costs in developing countries. Associated disease-related complications and drug resistance further compound this problem. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an uncommon complication of enteric fever with high morbidity and mortality. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes in enteric fever-associated HLH syndrome. We searched major electronic databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus) to identify the cases of enteric fever associated with HLH from inception until June 2023. Prespecified data regarding clinical presentation, outcomes, and HLH therapy were collected. A total of 53 cases of enteric fever with HLH were included in the final analysis. The mean age of patients was 20 years, and the proportions of female and pediatric patients were 52.8% and 45.3%, respectively. The mean duration of illness was 10.4 days. A total of 39.6% of patients had enteric fever-associated complications; coagulopathy and encephalopathy were the most common (23.1% and 13.5%). The overall mortality rate was 9.4% in HLH. A total of 51% of patients received HLH-specific therapy (corticosteroids in 41.5% and intravenous immunoglobulin in 20.8% of patients). On multivariate analysis, high ferritin levels (≥5,000 ng/mL) were significantly associated with mortality (hazard ratio, 3.01; 95% CI = 0.62-14.12, P = 0.041). Enteric fever with secondary HLH is associated with high mortality. This review reveals the potential role of ferritin in disease prognosis. In cases with significantly elevated ferritin levels, the role of immunosuppressants or combination antibiotics should be explored.

Introduction: Sexual function following local treatment for prostate cancer is an important quality of life concern. Relugolix is a novel oral GnRH receptor antagonist used in combination with radiation therapy in the treatment of unfavorable prostate cancer. It has been shown to achieve rapid and profound testosterone suppression. As a result, these very low testosterone levels may impact both sexual functioning and perceptions. This prospective study sought to assess neoadjuvant relugolix-induced sexual dysfunction prior to stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Methods: Between March 2021 and September 2023, 87 patients with localized prostate cancer were treated with neoadjuvant relugolix followed by SBRT per an institutional protocol. Sexual function and bother were assessed via the sexual domain of the validated Expanded Prostate Index Composite (EPIC-26) survey. Responses were collected for each patient at pre-treatment baseline and after several months of relugolix. A Utilization of Sexual Medications/Devices questionnaire was administered at the same time points to assess erectile aid usage. Results: The median age was 72 years and 43% of patients were non-white. The median baseline Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM) score was 13 and 41.7% of patients utilized sexual aids prior to relugolix. Patients initiated relugolix at a median of 4.5 months (2-14 months) prior to SBRT. 95% and 87% of patients achieved effective castration (≤ 50 ng/dL) and profound castration (< 20 ng/dl) at SBRT initiation, respectively. Ability to have an erection, ability to reach orgasm, quality of erections, frequency of erections, and overall sexual function significantly declined following relugolix. There was a non- significant increase in sexual bother. Discussion: In concordance with known side effects of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), neoadjuvant relugolix was associated with a significant decline in self-reported sexual function. However, patients indicated only a minimal and non-significant increase in bother. Future investigations should compare outcomes while on relugolix directly to GnRH agonist-induced sexual dysfunction.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has surpassed the hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus as the leading cause of chronic liver disease in most parts of the Western world. MASLD (formerly known as NAFLD) encompasses both simple steatosis and more aggressive metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), which is accompanied by inflammation, fibrosis, and cirrhosis, and ultimately can lead to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). There are currently very few approved therapies for MASH. Weight loss strategies such as caloric restriction can ameliorate the harmful metabolic effect of MASH and inhibit HCC; however, it is difficult to implement and maintain in daily life, especially in individuals diagnosed with HCC. In this study, we tested a time-restricted feeding (TRF) nutritional intervention in mouse models of MASH and HCC. We show that TRF abrogated metabolic dysregulation induced by a Western diet without any calorie restriction or weight loss. TRF improved insulin sensitivity and reduced hyperinsulinemia, liver steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis. Importantly, TRF inhibited liver tumors in two mouse models of obesity-driven HCC. Our data suggest that TRF is likely to be effective in abrogating MASH and HCC and warrant further studies of time-restricted eating in humans with MASH who are at higher risk of developing HCC.

Rice is a major dietary element for about two billion people worldwide and it faces numerous biotic and abiotic stress for its cultivation. Rice blast disease caused by Magnaporthe oryzae reduce up to 30 % rice yield. Overuse of synthetic chemicals raises concerns about health and environment; so, there is an urgent need to explore innovative sustainable strategies for crop productivity. The main aim of this study is to explore the impact of bacterial volatiles (BVCs) on seedling growth and defense mechanisms of rice under in-vitro condition. On the basis of plant growth promoting properties, six bacterial strains were selected out of ninety-one isolated strains for this study; Pantoea dispersa BHUJPVR01, Enterobacter cloacae BHUJPVR02, Enterobacter sp. BHUJPVR12, Priestia aryabhattai BHUJPVR13, Pseudomonas sp. BHUJPVWRO5 and Staphylococcus sp. BHUJPVWLE7. Through the emission of bacterial volatiles compounds (BVCs), Enterobacter sp., P. dispersa and P. aryabhattai significantly reduces the growth of rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae by 69.20 %, 66.15 % and 62.31 % respectively. Treatment of rice seedlings with BVCs exhibited significant enhancement in defence enzyme levels, including guaiacol peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, total polyphenols, and total flavonoids by a maximum of up to 24 %, 48 %, 116 % and 80 %, respectively. Furthermore, BVCs effectively promote shoot height, root height, and root counts of rice. All BVCs treated plant showed a significant increase in shoot height. P. dispersa treated plants showed the highest increase of 60 % shoot and 110 % root length, respectively. Root counts increased up to 30% in plants treated with E. cloacae and Staphylococcus sp. The BVCs can be used as a sustainable approach for enhancing plant growth attributes, productivity and defence mechanism of rice plant under biotic and abiotic stresses.

Cigarette butts (CBs) have become the most ubiquitous form of anthropogenic litter globally. CBs contain various hazardous chemicals that persist in the environment for longer period. These substances are susceptible to leaching into the environment through waterways. The recent study was aimed to evaluate the effects of disposed CBs on the growth and development of Azolla pinnata, an aquatic plant. It was found that after a span of 6 days, the root length, surface area, number of fronds, and photosynthetic efficacy of plant were considerably diminished on the exposure of CBs (concentrations 0 to 40). The exposure of CBs led to a decrease in the FM, FV/F0, and φP0, in contrast, the φD0 increased in response to CBs concentration. Moreover, ABS/CSm, TR0/CSm, and ET0/CSm displayed a negative correlation with CB-induced chemical stress. The performance indices were also decreased (p-value ≤ 0.05) at the highest concentration of CBs. LD50 and LD90 represent the lethal dose, obtained value for LD50 is 20.30 CBs and LD90 is 35.26 CBs through probit analysis. Our results demonstrate that the CBs cause irreversible damage of photosynthetic machinery in plants and also reflect the efficacy of chlorophyll a fluorescence analysis and JIP test for assessing the toxicity of CBs in plants.

BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease is a neurological dysfunction of the brain caused by neurodegeneration and oxidative stress. Some viruses, such as herpes viruses, HSV-1, and HSV-2, are causative agents of Alzheimer's disease and result in ß-amyloid peptide and tau protein accumulation in the brain. Some antiviral drugs, such as valacyclovir, acyclovir, and foscarnet, reduce amyloid-beta and P-tau. Pavetta indica leaves are also reported for their antiviral properties. The current study aimed to find out the significance of using Pavetta indica methanolic extract and acyclovir against Alzheimer's disease induced by streptozotocin. METHODS: Wistar rats received acyclovir and Pavetta indica methanolic extract orally at different dose ranges (50, 150, 450 mg/kg) and (125, 250, 500 mg/kg), respectively. The standard therapy, Rivastigmine (2 mg/kg), was given orally. RESULTS: Intracerebroventricular-streptozotocin produced significant alternations in behavioral assessments, including locomotor activity test, Morris water maze test, and elevated plus maze test. Moreover, intracerebroventricular-streptozotocin ameliorated the antioxidant defense activity by decreasing levels of catalase, superoxide dismutase, and reduced glutathione while enhancing the oxidative stress markers, including malondialdehyde, and total nitrite levels. Finally, the main findings showed that intracerebroventricular-streptozotocin significantly increased the inflammatory marker, tumor necrosis factor-α, and disturbed neurotransmitter mediators, including levels of acetylcholinesterase, glutamate, and γ-amino butyric acid. CONCLUSION: In a dose-dependent manner, acyclovir and Pavetta indica methanolic extract treatments abrogated the streptozotocin-induced behavioral and neurological abnormalities in rats. The potential therapeutic effects of PIME and acyclovir administration in intracerebroventricular-streptozotocin-treated rats may be attributed to its potential antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. The current study suggests that Pavetta indica methanolic extract and acyclovir are promising therapeutic targets against Alzheimer's disease.
