RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) plays a vital role in tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. However, the prognosis of HER2-positive gastric cancer is poor. Inetetamab, a novel anti-HER2 targeting drug independently developed in China, exhibits more potent antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity than trastuzumab, which is administered as the first-line treatment for HER2-positive gastric cancer in combination with chemotherapy. In this case, the efficacy and safety of inetetamab combined with tegafur was investigated as a second-line treatment for HER2-positive gastric cancer. CASE SUMMARY: A 52-year-old male patient with HER2-positive gastric cancer presented with abdominal distension, poor appetite, and fatigue two years after receiving six cycles of oxaliplatin combined with tegafur as first-line treatment after surgery, followed by tegafur monotherapy for six months. The patient was diagnosed with postoperative recurrence of gastric adenocarcinoma. He received 17 cycles of a combination of inetetamab, an innovative domestically developed anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody, and tegafur chemotherapy as the second-line treatment (inetetamab 200 mg on day 1, every 3 wk combined with tegafur twice daily on days 1-14, every 3 wk). Evaluation of the efficacy of the second-line treatment revealed that the patient achieved a stable condition and progression-free survival of 17 months. He tolerated the treatment well without exhibiting any grade 3-4 adverse events. CONCLUSION: Inetetamab combined with chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic HER2-positive gastric cancer demonstrates significant survival benefits and acceptable safety.

RESUMO

As a common water pollutant, Pb2+ has harmful effects on the nervous, hematopoietic, digestive, renal, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems. Due to the drawbacks of traditional adsorbents such as structural disorder, poor stability, and difficulty in introducing adsorption active sites, the adsorption capacity is low, and it is difficult to accurately study the adsorption mechanism. Herein, vinyl-functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were synthesized at room temperature, and sulfur-containing active groups were introduced by the click reaction. By precisely tuning the chemical structure of the sulfur-containing reactive groups through the click reaction, we found that the adsorption activity of the sulfhydryl group was higher than that of the sulfur atom in the thioether. Moreover, the incorporation of flexible linking groups was observed to enhance the adsorption activity at the active site. The maximum adsorption capacity of the postmodified COF TAVA-S-Et-SH for Pb(II) reached 303.0 mg/g, which is 2.9 times higher than that of the unmodified COF. This work not only demonstrates the remarkable potential of the "thiol-ene" click reaction for the customization of active adsorption sites but also demonstrates the remarkable potential of the "thiol-alkene" click reaction to explore the structure-effect relationship between the active adsorption sites and the metal ion adsorption capacity.

RESUMO

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive scar-forming disease with a high mortality rate that has received widespread attention. Epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an important part of the pulmonary fibrosis process, and changes in the biomechanical properties of lung tissue have an important impact on it. In this paper, we summarize the changes in the biomechanical microenvironment of lung tissue in IPF-EMT in recent years, and provide a systematic review on the effects of alterations in the mechanical microenvironment in pulmonary fibrosis on the process of EMT, the effects of mechanical factors on the behavior of alveolar epithelial cells in EMT and the biomechanical signaling in EMT, in order to provide new references for the research on the prevention and treatment of IPF.

RESUMO

Objective: Ferroptosis is a novel cell death process which displays a promising role in cancer treatment. However, clinically available drugs targeting ferroptosis are rarely used, and yet there are no studies reporting on inducing ferroptosis via Chinese herbal extracts. Here we explored the tumor inhibition effects of Ganoderma lucidum (G. lucidum) on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Specifically, we aimed to clarify the biological mechanism of components in the dietary, aqueous-soluble sporoderm-removed G. lucidum spore powder (A-GSP). Methods: Preliminary transcriptome analysis revealed the significant enrichment of the ferroptosis pathway. Cellular Fe2+, glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxide levels were measured to identify ferroptosis occurrence. Western blotting was used to measure ferroptosis-related proteins. Changes in mitochondria morphology and function were observed with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and ATP detection assays. Ferroptosis inhibitor ferrostatin-1 was then used to verify the anti-tumor effects of A-GSP. Finally, nude mice xenograft models of oral cancer confirmed that A-GSP inhibited tumor growth. Results: A-GSP promoted ferroptosis in oral cancer cells by inducing Fe2+ influx, GSH depletion, as well as lipid peroxide and ROS accumulation. Ferroptosis-related proteins exhibited corresponding changes, particularly Acyl-coA synthetase long chain family member 4 (ACSL4) increase and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) decrease. A-GSP considerably lowered mitochondrial volume and ridge number, while significantly decreasing ATP production. Ferrostatin-1 reversed all of these A-GSP-induced changes. In vivo, A-GSP exerted a ferroptosis-mediated tumor-suppressing effect without observable adverse reactions. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate the therapeutic potential of A-GSP for treating patients with OSCC by targeting ferroptosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: There is a high incidence and mortality rate in children with hematologic tumors (CHT), who are more prone to various infectious diseases. This study aims to clarify the real-world National Immunization Program (NIP) vaccination status of CHT before and after chemotherapy. METHODS: Medical records, NIP vaccination data, and the Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) of CHT who were admitted to the Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, from 1 January 2011 to 1 December 2021 were completely collected. RESULTS: A total of 2,874 CHT were included, and 1975 (68.7%) had vaccination records. Among the enrolled patients, the vaccination rate of all NIP vaccines was lower than 90% before diagnosis. Only 24.29% of CHT (410/1688) resumed vaccination after chemotherapy, and 69.02% (283/410) resumed vaccination more than 12 months after chemotherapy. No uncommon or serious side effects were reported. CONCLUSION: The vaccination rate of CHT after chemotherapy was lower than that before the disease was diagnosed. It is necessary to provide more evidence-based support and formulate specific regimens to perfect the vaccination procedure after chemotherapy so as to improve the quality of life of CHT.

RESUMO

Background: peripheral neuroblastic tumors (pNT) have high incidence and mortality, and infants are prone to various infectious diseases. The purpose of this study is to understand the immunization status of children with pNT in the real-world and the incidence of adverse reactions after vaccination, and to evaluate the feasibility of vaccination and the influencing factors of vaccination. Methods: Children with pNT treated in the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University from January 1, 2011 to December 1, 2021 were included. By referring to medical records, the vaccination history of the national immunization program (NIP) vaccines and the occurrence of adverse events following immunization(AEFI), current status and safety of immunization in children with pNT in the real-world were analyzed. Results: Among 784 children with pNT, 394 were able to obtain the history of vaccination. The overall vaccination rate of NIP vaccines was 71.49% before chemotherapy and 37.67% after chemotherapy, and the recovery time of vaccination after treatment was 16.00 (6.00,24.00) months. Age, time of tumor diagnosis and disease classification were significantly correlated with vaccination. AEFI reported an incidence of 0.23‰. Conclusion: The vaccination rate of children with pNT is generally low, especially the vaccination rate after chemotherapy. The vaccination safety is good, children should be encouraged to immunize.

RESUMO

This study aims to investigate e-cigarette and tea cigarette gifting in China and their influencing factors, as well as to explore whether they were associated with tobacco use and cessation. Using a multistage sampling design, 1512 household heads from Guangdong and Shaanxi provinces were recruited for the study and filled out an online questionnaire about smoking status, social participation, e-cigarette, and tea cigarette gifting. Results showed that more than 30% and nearly 3% of participants had been gifted tea cigarettes and e-cigarettes, respectively. Marital status, province of residence, smoking status, and social participation were associated with gifting behaviors. Logistic regressions showed that receiving e-cigarettes (OR = 3.43, p < 0.05) and tea cigarettes (OR = 1.70, p < 0.01) were related to tobacco use. Smokers who have received e-cigarettes (OR = 9.85, p < 0.01) and tea cigarettes (OR = 1.92, p < 0.05) were also less likely to quit smoking.

RESUMO

Background and Aim: A technique of endoscopic tightening of the cardia mucosa for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was developed and its clinical efficacy was observed. Methods: 120 patients with GERD who underwent endoscopic tightening surgery from December 2017 to December 2019 were included in this study. GERD-Q score and constitution type of patients were evaluated preoperatively and at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery. In addition, effectiveness and side effects of the procedure were graded based on gastroesophageal flap valve (GEFV) function. Results: GERD-Q score of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery were significantly decreased (P<0.01) compared with preoperative score. There were no significant differences between GERD-Q score of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery. The surgery proves to be effective in all GEFV grades, especially in Hill-III. Conclusion: Endoscopic tightening is an effective method for the treatment of patients with GERD, especially of Hill-III patients. Attention should be paid to cardia width, ligation ring depth, and ring number during operation. Relevance for Patients: ETCM is a safe endoscopic procedure with minimal trauma, which has been proved effective for patients who are diagnosed with GERD.

RESUMO

Objectives: The aim of the study is to demonstrate the characteristic of motor development and MRI changes of related brain regions in preterm infants with different iron statuses and to determine whether the daily iron supplementation can promote motor development for preterm in early infancy. Methods: The 63 preterm infants were grouped into non-anemia with higher serum ferritin (NA-HF) group and anemia with lower serum ferritin (A-LF) group according to their lowest serum Hb level in the neonatal period as well as the sFer at 3 months old. Forty-nine participants underwent MRI scans and Infant Neurological International Battery (INFANIB) at their 3 months. At 6 months of corrected age, these infants received the assessment of Peabody Developmental Motor Scales (PDMS) after 2 mg/kg/day iron supplementation. Results: In total, 19 preterm infants were assigned to the NA-HF group while 44 preterm infants to the A-LF groups. The serum ferritin (sFer) level of the infants in A-LF group was lower than that in NA-HF group (44.0 ± 2.8 mg/L vs. 65.1 ± 2.8 mg/L, p < 0.05) and was with poorer scores of INFANIB (66.8 ± 0.9 vs. 64.4 ± 0.6, p < 0.05) at 3 months old. The structural connectivity between cerebellum and ipsilateral thalamus in the NA-HF group was significantly stronger than that in the A-LF group (n = 17, 109.76 ± 23.8 vs. n = 32, 70.4 ± 6.6, p < 0.05). The decreased brain structural connectivity was positively associated with the scores of PDMS (r = 0.347, p < 0.05). After 6 months of routine iron supplementation, no difference in Hb, MCV, MCHC, RDW, and sFer was detected between A-LF and NA-HF groups as well as the motor scores of PDMS-2 assessments. Conclusion: Iron status at early postnatal period of preterm infant is related to motor development and the enrichment of brain structural connectivity. The decrease in brain structural connectivity is related to the motor delay. After supplying 2 mg/kg of iron per day for 6 months, the differences in the iron status and motor ability between the A-LF and NA-HF groups were eliminated.

RESUMO

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of unified iron supplementation and identify the factors related to the iron homeostasis among preterm infants. Method: A total of 250 preterm infants were divided into neonatal anemic (NA, n = 154) and non-neonatal anemic group (NNA, n = 96). Iron supplements at a dose of 2 mg/kg per day were given from 40 weeks' gestational age to 6 months. Iron status parameters were measured at 3 and 6 months, respectively. Prevalence of iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA), and the correlated factors were analyzed. Growth and side-effects were monitored. Results: There were no significant differences for the prevalence of ID or IDA between the two groups. Multivariate regression analyses showed that higher Hb at birth and early treatment of blood transfusion reduced the risk of ID/IDA at 3 months (all p < 0.05); while higher level of Hb at 3 months (p = 0.004) and formula feeding reduced the occurrence of ID/IDA at 6 months (p < 0.05); males had a 3.35 times higher risk to develop ID/IDA than girls (p = 0.021). No differences in growth and side effects were found. Conclusion: A daily dose of 2 mg/kg iron supplement is beneficial to maintain iron homeostasis in majority preterm infants within 6 months regardless of their neonatal anemia history. Under the routine iron supplementation, Hb level at birth and at 3 months, early treatment of blood transfusion, gender and feeding patterns are the major factors affecting the prevalence of ID/IDA among preterm infants in infancy.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Endoscopic papillectomy (EP) has been accepted as a viable alternative therapy to surgery in benign duodenal papillary lesions. However, postoperative complications limit its widespread clinical application. This study aimed to evaluate the overall safety of the EP procedure and identify significant risk factors of post-EP complications. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively collected 76 patients who had undergone EP in Chinese PLA General Hospital from 2016 to 2019 and graded their postoperative complications. We assessed twelve patient-, disease- or procedure-related variables to identify risk factors related to the occurrence of post-EP complications using both univariate and multivariate analyses. RESULTS: Among the 76 patients included in this study, the incidence of entire post-EP complications was 36.8%, most of which were in a mild form. In both univariate and multivariate analyses, the pathologic tumor types, especially high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HIN), and the placement of stents were significantly associated with the occurrence of post-EP complications. Patients with HIN tumors were more likely to have post-EP pancreatitis, bleeding, and overall complications (odds ratio (OR) 11.66, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.91-62.5, P = 0.001; OR 6.52, 95% CI 1.45-46.77, P = 0.027; OR 9.81, 95% CI 2.75-44.04, P = 0.001, respectively). Pancreatic stent placement may contribute to the occurrence of post-EP pancreatitis (OR 7.61, 95% CI 1.37-64.53, P = 0.033). While biliary stent placement was found negatively related to the occurrence of post-EP bleeding and overall complications (OR 0.02, 95% CI 0-0.37, P = 0.016; OR 0.11, 95% CI 0.01-0.99, P = 0.05, respectively). CONCLUSION: EP is a safe procedure for papillary lesion treatment with a low rate and generally mild postoperative complications. Two factors are significantly associated with the occurrence of complications. The selection of eligible patients and suitable procedures is important to reduce the complication rate and severity.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The hybrid system combining a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner with a linear accelerator (Linac) has become increasingly desirable for tumor treatment because of excellent soft tissue contrast and nonionizing radiation. However, image distortions caused by gradient nonlinearity (GNL) can have detrimental impacts on real-time radiotherapy using MRI-Linac systems, where accurate geometric information of tumors is essential. METHODS: In this work, we proposed a deep convolutional neural network-based method to efficiently recover undistorted images (ReUINet) for real-time image guidance. The ReUINet, based on the encoder-decoder structure, was created to learn the relationship between the undistorted images and distorted images. The ReUINet was pretrained and tested on a publically available brain MR image dataset acquired from 23 volunteers. Then, transfer learning was adopted to implement the pretrained model (i.e., network with optimal weights) on the experimental three-dimensional (3D) grid phantom and in-vivo pelvis image datasets acquired from the 1.0 T Australian MRI-Linac system. RESULTS: Evaluations on the phantom (768 slices) and pelvis data (88 slices) showed that the ReUINet achieved improvement over 15 times and 45 times on computational efficiency in comparison with standard interpolation and GNL-encoding methods, respectively. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative results demonstrated that the ReUINet provided better correction results than the standard interpolation method, and comparable performance compared to the GNL-encoding approach. CONCLUSIONS: Validated by simulation and experimental results, the proposed ReUINet showed promise in obtaining accurate MR images for the implementation of real-time MRI-guided radiotherapy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Ganoderma lucidum spore (GLS) is gaining recognition as a medicinal part of G. lucidum and has been reported to possess various pharmacological properties, such as antitumor activity. In this work, wall-broken GLS powder (BGLSP) and wall-removed GLS powder (RGLSP), two kinds of GLS powder with different manufacturing techniques, were compared in terms of contents of active constituents and in vivo and in vitro antitumor effects. METHODS: The ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry method was used to determine the contents of polysaccharides and total triterpenoids in BGLSP and RGLSP. Seventeen individual triterpenoids were further quantified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker. The antitumor effects of BGLSP and RGLSP were evaluated using in vitro cell viability assay against human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901, lung carcinoma A549 and lymphoma Ramos and further validated by in vivo zebrafish xenograft models with transplanted SGC-7901, A549 and Ramos. RESULTS: The results showed that the contents of polysaccharides, total triterpenoids and individual triterpenoids of RGLSP were significantly higher than those of BGLSP. Although both BGLSP and RGLSP inhibited the three tumor cell lines in vitro in a dose-dependent manner, the inhibitory effects of RGLSP were much better than those of BGLSP. In the in vivo zebrafish assay, RGLSP exhibited more potent inhibitory activities against tumors transplanted into the zebrafish compared with BGLSP, and the inhibition rates of RGLSP reached approximately 78%, 31% and 83% on SGC-7901, A549 and Ramos, respectively. CONCLUSION: The results indicated that the antitumor effects of GLS were positively correlated with the contents of the polysaccharides and triterpenoids and demonstrated that the wall-removing manufacturing technique could significantly improve the levels of active constituents, and thereby enhance the antitumor activity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to act as the important regulators in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). CircRNA ZNF609 (circ-ANF609) and miR-188 have been, respectively, reported to play a pro-cancer and anti-cancer role in NPC. The purpose of this study is to reveal the functional relation of circ-ZNF609 and miR-188 in NPC development. METHODS: The transcription level and protein level of genes were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot assay, respectively. Cell proliferation was analyzed using 3-(4, 5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2, 5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Furthermore, flow cytometry analysis was used to assess cell cycle transition and cell apoptosis rate. Besides, the interaction between miR-188 and circ-ZNF609 or E74-like factor 2 (ELF2) was predicted by starbase or microT-CDS, and then confirmed by the dual luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay. RESULTS: Circ-ZNF609 and ELF2 levels were increased and miR-188 level was decreased in NPC. Circ-ZNF609 knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation and cell cycle transition, as well as accelerated apoptosis in NPC cells. Interestingly, circ-ZNF609 directly bound to miR-188. Circ-ZNF609 regulated NPC cell growth through modulating miR-188 expression. In addition, miR-188 suppressed NPC cell growth via directly targeting ELF2. Finally, we confirmed that circ-ZNF609 mediated miR-188 level to modulate ELF2 expression. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrated that circ-ZNF609 depletion-repressed proliferation and cell cycle transition, and induced apoptosis of NPC cells via modulation of miR-188/ELF2 axis, providing potential targets for the therapy of NPC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The role of macrophages (Mφs) in tendon injury healing is controversy. The aims of this study were to determine whether there is a shift in Mφs polarisation after an acute and chronic tendon injury â€‹and to assess whether the Mφs polarisation between the partial and complete rupture is different. METHODS: This systematic review of the scientific literature was based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and Cochrane guidelines. PubMed database and Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE) were used for specific search criteria. Only studies measuring Mφs using specific cell markers in Achilles tendon tissue and rotator cuff tendon tissue were included, respectively. RESULTS: Five Achilles tendon injury studies and four rotator cuff injury studies were included. Expression of the pan Mϕs marker Cluster of Differentiation (CD) 68 was significantly upregulated in acute Achilles tendon ruptures compared to intact tendons, while no significant changes were found in Mφs polarisation markers CD80 (M1 Mφs) and CD206 (M2 Mφs). High levels of CD86 (M1 Mφs) and CD206 were observed in acute partial rupture. Expression of CD68 and CD206 were significantly upregulated in chronic rotator cuff tendinopathy and downregulated as structural failure increases. A low level of CD206 was observed in complete tendon rupture regardless of acute or chronic injury. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In spite of the limited number of articles included, findings from this study suggested that the process of inflammation plays an important role in acute Achilles tendon injuries, indicated by the increased expression of CD68+ Mφs. Low levels of CD206+ Mφs were constantly observed in complete Achilles tendon rupture, while high levels of CD80+ Mφs and CD206+ Mφs were observed in partial Achilles tendon rupture, which suggested the potential correlation between M2 Mφs and tendon structure. For chronic rotator cuff injury, CD68+ Mφs and CD206+ Mφs were higher in tendinopathic tissues in comparison to the intact control tissues. Both CD68+ Mφs and CD206+ Mφs has an inverse relation to the structural failure in the torn rotator cuff tendon. After tendon rupture, the time point of biopsy specimen collection is an important factor, which could occur in the acute phase or chronic phase. Collectively, the understanding of the roles in Mφs after tendon injury is inadequate, and more research efforts should be devoted to this direction. THE TRANSLATIONAL POTENTIAL OF THIS ARTICLE: This article provided a potential implication on how pan Mφs or M2 Mφs might be associated with ruptured or torn tendon structure. Managing Mφs numbers and phenotypes may lead to possible novel therapeutic approaches to the management of early tendinopathy, early acute tendon rupture, hence, promote healing after restoration surgery.

RESUMO

Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is a common cardiovascular disease with high mortality. In this study, an injectable thermosensitive hydrogel of chitosan (CS)/dextran (DEX)/ß-glycerophosphate (ß-GP) loaded with umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) was prepared for MI treatment. The good biocompatibility of hydrogels was confirmed by 3T3 cells and HUVECs culture study in vitro. HUVECs encapsulated in the hydrogels showed a cell delivery ability. Furthermore, the results indicated that hydrogel could encapsulate most of UCMSCs and the cells exhibited good viability in CS/ 1.0DEX/ß-GP hydrogels. The expression of cardiac markers of cTnI and Cx43 and signaling pathways of p-Akt and p-ERK1/2 were studied, and it showed that UCMSCs differentiate towards myocardium and has a great potential for therapeutic use of cardiac repair. In conclusion, the thermosensitive hydrogel of CS/1.0 DEX/ß-GP loaded UCMSCs was a promising candidate as cell delivery vehicle for cardiac repair to reconstitute damaged myocardium.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-Linac system combines a MRI scanner and a linear accelerator (Linac) to realize real-time localization and adaptive radiotherapy for tumors. Given that the Australian MRI-Linac system has a 30-cm diameter of spherical volume (DSV) with a shimmed homogeneity of ±4.05 parts per million (ppm), a gradient nonlinearity (GNL) of <5% can only be assured within 15 cm from the system's isocenter. GNL increases from the isocenter and escalates close to and outside of the edge of the DSV. Gradient nonlinearity can cause large geometric distortions, which may provide inaccurate tumor localization and potentially degrade the radiotherapy treatment. In this study, we aimed to characterize and correct the geometric distortions both inside and outside of the DSV. METHODS: On the basis of phantom measurements, an inverse electromagnetic (EM) method was developed to reconstitute the virtual current density distribution that could generate gradient fields. The obtained virtual EM source was capable of characterizing the GNL field both inside and outside of the DSV. With the use of this GNL field information, our recently developed "GNL-encoding" reconstruction method was applied to correct the distortions implemented in the k-space domain. RESULTS: Both phantom and in vivo human images were used to validate the proposed method. The results showed that the maximal displacements within an imaging volume of 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm after using the fifth-order spherical harmonic (SH) method and the proposed method were 6.1 ± 0.6 mm and 1.8 ± 0.6 mm, respectively. Compared with the fifth-order SH-based method, the new solution decreased the percentage of markers (within an imaging volume of 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm) with ≥1.5-mm distortions from 6.3% to 1.3%, indicating substantially improved geometric accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: The experimental results indicated that the proposed method could provide substantially improved geometric accuracy for the region outside of the DSV, when comparing with the fifth-order SH-based method.

RESUMO

Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite was successfully fabricated by a facile method and used as adsorbent to remove direct blue 80 (DB80, azo dye) from water. Characterizations of Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite were performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and magnetic property analysis. As an adsorbent, the factors (such as adsorbent dose, pH, initial concentration, contact time, and temperature) affecting the adsorption performance of adsorbent were investigated. The optimal adsorption condition is 5 mg of Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite in 8 ml of DB80 solution (70 mg/L) for 60 min at 318 K, and the pH value has little effect on the adsorption performance. The adsorption isotherm, kinetics, and thermodynamics of DB80 adsorbed on the Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite were also studied. The experimental results revealed that the experimental data followed the Langmuir model and the adsorption behavior could be well explained by pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process. Furthermore, the mechanism of DB80 adsorbed on the Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite was proposed. The occurrence of adsorption might be caused by the π-π stacking interaction between Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite and DB80. PRACTITIONER POINTS: Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite was successfully fabricated via a facile method. Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite was used to the adsorptive removal of direct blue 80 (azo dye). The kinetic characteristics and thermodynamic parameters were analyzed. The adsorption behavior might be ascribed to the π-π stacking interaction between Fe3 O4 /ZIF-67 composite and DB80.
