RESUMO

Neuroinflammation plays a significant role in ischemic injury, which can be promoted by oxidized mitochondrial DNA (Ox-mtDNA). Cytidine/uridine monophosphate kinase 2 (CMPK2) regulates mtDNA replication, but its role in neuroinflammation and ischemic injury remains unknown. Here, we report that CMPK2 expression is upregulated in monocytes/macrophages and microglia post-stroke in humans and mice, respectively. Microglia/macrophage CMPK2 knockdown using the Cre recombination-dependent adeno-associated virus suppresses the inflammatory responses in the brain, reduces infarcts, and improves neurological outcomes in ischemic CX3CR1Cre/ERT2 mice. Mechanistically, CMPK2 knockdown limits newly synthesized mtDNA and Ox-mtDNA formation and subsequently blocks NLRP3 inflammasome activation in microglia/macrophages. Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), as a CMPK2 inhibitor, is discovered to reduce neuroinflammation and ischemic injury in mice and prevent the inflammatory responses in primary human monocytes from ischemic patients. Thus, these findings identify CMPK2 as a promising therapeutic target for ischemic stroke and other brain disorders associated with neuroinflammation.

RESUMO

Background: Circulating eosinophils are associated with tumor development. An eosinophil-related index, the neutrophil to eosinophil ratio (NER), can be used to predict the prognosis of patients with tumors. However, there is still a lack of efficient prognostic biomarkers for HCC. In this study, we aimed to investigate the predictive value of the NER and develop an optimal machine learning model for the recurrence of HCC patients. Patients and methods: A retrospective collection of 562 patients who underwent hepatectomy with a pathologic diagnosis of HCC was performed. The relationship between NER and progression-free survival (PFS) was investigated. We developed a new machine learning framework with 10 machine learning algorithms and their 101 combinations to select the best model for predicting recurrence after hepatectomy. The performance of the model was assessed by the area under the curve (AUC) of characteristics and calibration curves, and clinical utility was evaluated by decision curve analysis (DCA). Results: Kaplan‒Meier curves showed that the PFS in the low NER group was significantly better than that in the high NER group. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that NER was an independent risk factor for recurrence after surgery. The random survival forests (RSF) model was selected as the best model that had good predictive efficacy and outperformed the TNM, BCLC, and CNLC staging systems. Conclusion: The NER has good predictive value for postoperative recurrence in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Machine learning model based on NER can be used for accurate predictions.

RESUMO

Brain metastasis (BM) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, limited treatments are available due to the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Upregulation of lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) in NSCLC has been found to promote BM. Conversely, downregulating LPCAT1 significantly suppresses the proliferation and metastasis of lung cancer cells. In this study, we firstly confirmed significant upregulation of LPCAT1 in BM sites compared to primary lung cancer by analyzing scRNA dataset. We then designed a delivery system based on a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and exosomes derived from HEK293T cells to enhance cell-targeting capabilities and increase permeability. Next, we loaded LPCAT1 siRNA (siLPCAT1) into these engineered exosomes (exoscFv). This novel scFv-mounted exosome successfully crossed the BBB in an animal model and delivered siLPCAT1 to the BM site. Silencing LPCAT1 efficiently arrested tumor growth and inhibited malignant progression of BM in vivo without detectable toxicity. Overall, we provided a potential platform based on exosomes for RNA interference (RNAi) therapy in lung cancer BM.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To compare the short-term and long-term outcomes between robotic gastrectomy (RG) and laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) for gastric cancer. BACKGROUND: The clinical outcomes of RG over LG have not yet been effectively demonstrated. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included 3599 patients with gastric cancer who underwent radical gastrectomy at eight high-volume hospitals in China from January 2015 to June 2019. Propensity score matching was performed between patients who received RG and LG. The primary end point was 3-year disease-free survival (DFS). RESULTS: After 1:1 propensity score matching, 1034 pairs of patients were enrolled in a balanced cohort for further analysis. The 3-year DFS in the RG and LG was 83.7% and 83.1% ( P =0.745), respectively, and the 3-year overall survival was 85.2% and 84.4%, respectively ( P =0.647). During 3 years of follow-up, 154 patients in the RG and LG groups relapsed (cumulative incidence of recurrence: 15.0% vs 15.0%, P =0.988). There was no significant difference in the recurrence sites between the 2 groups (all P >0.05). Sensitivity analysis showed that RG had comparable 3-year DFS (77.4% vs 76.7%, P =0.745) and overall survival (79.7% vs 78.4%, P =0.577) to LG in patients with advanced (pathologic T2-4a) disease, and the recurrence pattern within 3 years was also similar between the 2 groups (all P >0.05). RG had less intraoperative blood loss, lower conversion rate, and shorter hospital stays than LG (all P >0.05). CONCLUSIONS: For resectable gastric cancer, including advanced cases, RG is a safe approach with comparable 3-year oncological outcomes to LG when performed by experienced surgeons.

RESUMO

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant clonal proliferative plasma cell tumor. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are used for antibacterial and antitumor applications in the biomedical field. This study investigated the autophagy-induced effects of ZnO NPs on the MM cell line RPMI8226 and the underlying mechanism. After RPMI8226 cells were exposed to various concentrations of ZnO NPs, the cell survival rate, morphological changes, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, cell cycle arrest, and autophagic vacuoles were monitored. Moreover, we investigated the expression of Beclin 1 (Becn1), autophagy-related gene 5 (Atg5), and Atg12 at the mRNA and protein levels, as well as the level of light chain 3 (LC3). The results showed that ZnO NPs could effectively inhibit the proliferation and promote the death of RPMI8226 cells in vitro in a dose- and time-dependent manner. ZnO NPs increased LDH levels, enhanced monodansylcadaverine (MDC) fluorescence intensity, and induced cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phases in RPMI8226 cells. Moreover, ZnO NPs significantly increased the expression of Becn1, Atg5, and Atg12 at the mRNA and protein levels and stimulated the production of LC3. We further validated the results using the autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3MA). Overall, we observed that ZnO NPs can trigger autophagy signaling in RPMI8226 cells, which may be a potential therapeutic approach for MM.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gallbladder adenoma represents a precancerous lesion of gallbladder cancer. However, distinguishing it from cholesteryl polyps of the gallbladder before surgery is challenging. Thus, we aimed to comprehensively explore various risk factors contributing to the formation of gallbladder adenoma to facilitate an informed diagnosis and treatment by clinicians. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients who had undergone cholecystectomy at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University between January 2015 and December 2022. Following postoperative pathological examination, patients were categorized into cholesterol polyp and adenoma groups. We analyzed their baseline characteristics, ultrasound imaging variables, and biochemical data using logistic, lasso, and stepwise regression. Subsequently, we constructed a preoperative prediction model based on the independent risk factors. RESULTS: Regression analysis of 520 gallbladder polyps and 288 gallbladder adenomas in the model group revealed that age, gallbladder wall thickness, polyp size, echogenicity, pedunculation, and adenosine deaminase (ADA) levels were independent predictors of gallbladder adenoma, all with P < 0.05. Using these indicators, we established a regression equation: Logistic (P) = -5.615 + 0.018 ∗ age - 4.64 ∗ gallbladder wall thickness + 1.811 ∗ polyp size + 2.855 ∗ polyp echo + 0.97∗ pedunculation + 0.092 ∗ ADA. The resulting area under the curve (AUC) value was 0.894 (95 % CI: 0.872-0.917, P < 0.01), with a sensitivity of 89.20 %, specificity of 79.40 %, and overall accuracy of 84.41 % for adenoma detection. CONCLUSION: Age, polyp size, gallbladder wall thickness, polyp echogenicity, pedunculation, and ADA levels emerge as independent risk factors for gallbladder adenoma.

RESUMO

Background: Enterocutaneous fistula is one of the most challenging problems facing surgeons. In severe cases, a large amount of fluid loss can lead to problems such as water and electrolyte acid-base imbalance, malnutrition, infection, and organ dysfunction. Here we reported a case of platelet-rich plasma combined with lyophilizing thrombin powder for the treatment of complicated enterocutaneous fistula. Case presentation: A 48-year-old male, more than 2 years after the operation of abdominal trauma, the leakage of the fistula in the right upper abdominal wall was accompanied by fever for 3 days. The Contrast Fistulography and upper abdomen CT accurately depicted the entry of the meglumine diatrizoate into the small intestine through the small fistula. The patient had a large abdominal wall defect and severe intestinal adhesions. Reoperation may lead to more serious ECF. Therefore, we decided to seal the fistulas with PRP combined with lyophilizing thrombin powder. Conclusions: The findings in this case report suggest that the combination of PRP and lyophilized thrombin powder holds promise as a viable approach for managing ECF in patients with chronic abdominal wall fistulas, as it appears to facilitate fistula closure, reduce healing time, and improve patient outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: HIV-infected individuals are known to be at higher risk for thrombotic cardiovascular disease (CVD), which may also be differentially affected by components of anti-HIV drugs. To identify the effects of a series of FDA-approved anti-HIV drugs on platelet aggregation in humans, focusing on the novel pharmacological effects of rilpivirine (RPV), a reverse transcriptase inhibitor, on platelet function both in vitro and in vivo and the mechanisms involved. METHODS AND RESULTS: In vitro studies showed that RPV was the only anti-HIV reagent that consistently and efficiently inhibited aggregation elicited by different agonists, exocytosis, morphological extension on fibrinogen, and clot retraction. Treatment of mice with RPV significantly prevented thrombus formation in FeCl3-injured mesenteric vessels, postcava with stenosis surgery, and ADP -induced pulmonary embolism models without defects in platelet viability, tail bleeding, and coagulation activities. RPV also improved cardiac performance in mice with post-ischemic reperfusion. A mechanistic study revealed that RPV preferentially attenuated fibrinogen-stimulated Tyr773 phosphorylation of ß3-integrin by inhibiting Tyr419 autophosphorylation of c-Src. Molecular docking and surface plasmon resonance analyses showed that RPV can bind directly to c-Src. Further mutational analysis showed that the Phe427 residue of c-Src is critical for RPV interaction, suggesting a novel interaction site for targeting c-Src to block ß3-integrin outside-in signaling. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrated that RPV was able to prevent the progression of thrombotic CVDs by interrupting ß3-integrin-mediated outside-in signaling via inhibiting c-Src activation without hemorrhagic side effects, highlighting RPV as a promising reagent for the prevention and therapy of thrombotic CVDs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The deficiency of serine/threonine protein kinase 11 (STK11), one of the most common tumor suppressor genes in non-small-cell lung cancer, is a crucial player in tumor immune microenvironment regulation. This study attempted to unveil how mutated STK11 impact the differentiation of macrophages in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). METHODS: STK11 and CD1E expression levels in different cell models were assessed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Western blot was utilized to detect the protein expression levels of STK11, CD1E, apoptosis markers, and AMPK signaling pathway markers after transfection treatment. Cell viability and macrophage differentiation were detected by CCK-8 and flow cytometry. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence were employed to detect the expression of related genes and macrophage markers, respectively. RESULTS: This study found that STK11 mutations promoted the proliferation of LUAD cells and inhibited the differentiation of M1 macrophages, apoptosis, and the AMPK signaling pathway. Mutated STK11 led to CD1E downregulation, which curbed the differentiation of M1 macrophages and hence promoted LUAD progression. It was further validated by the in vivo experimental results that STK11 mutation significantly decreased the immune infiltration of M1 macrophages and promoted LUAD progression. CONCLUSION: It was revealed that STK11 mutation affected CD1E expression to regulate macrophage differentiation in LUAD and then promote tumor progression. In this way, CD1E could be a potential biological target for the therapeutic interventions of STK11-mutant LUAD patients. These findings also threw new light on a new therapeutic strategy for STK11-mutant tumor patients that assisted the macrophage polarization pathway.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Mass tuberculosis (TB) screening has been recommended in certain high-risk populations. However, population-based screening interventions have rarely been implemented. Whether mass screening improves health equity is unknown. METHODS: We implemented a mass TB screening intervention among elderly persons (>60 years old) in Lanxi County, China. Standardized questionnaires, physical examinations, and chest radiographs (CXRs) were administered to all participants. Systematic testing with computed tomography, smear, culture, or Xpert was performed among persons with an abnormal CXR. We assessed TB prevalence per 100 000 persons and constructed multivariable regression models among subgroups that were and were not screened. Medical insurance was categorized as participation in either a basic program with limited coverage or a more comprehensive coverage program. RESULTS: In total, 49 339 individuals (32% of the elderly population in Lanxi) participated in the screening. One hundred fifteen screened persons were diagnosed with TB (233 cases per 100 000 persons), significantly higher than persons not screened (168 cases among 103 979 person-years; prevalence-to-case notification ratio, 1.44 [95% confidence interval {CI}, 1.14-1.83]). This increase was largely driven by diagnosis of asymptomatic disease during mass screening (n = 57 [50% of participants with TB]). Participants with basic medical insurance were much more likely to be diagnosed through mass screening than by passive detection (adjusted odds ratio, 4.52 [95% CI, 1.35-21.28]). CONCLUSIONS: In a population-based, mass TB screening intervention encompassing >30% of the elderly population in a county in rural China, case finding was 44% higher than background detection, driven by diagnosis of TB without recognized symptoms. Importantly, mass screening identified TB in people with limited healthcare options who were less likely to be found through background case detection.

RESUMO

The adsorption of five small gas molecules (CO, CO2, NO, NO2, and NH3) on transition metal (TM)-modified ZrSe2 monolayers (Au-ZrSe2 and Pt-ZrSe2) are studied based on first principles. The adsorption structure, adsorption energy (Eads), electron transfer (Qt), and density of states (DOS) with intrinsic ZrSe2, Au-ZrSe2, and Pt-ZrSe2 monolayers are discussed, and their sensing performance is evaluated. The results show that the electrical conductivity of ZrSe2 is obviously increased after Au and Pt atom modification. The intrinsic ZrSe2 adsorbs the five kinds of gas molecules weakly, while ZrSe2 modified by the Au or Pt atom improves the adsorption of the gas molecules in different degrees. Au-ZrSe2 has the best adsorption effect on NO2 gas molecules, while Pt-ZrSe2 shows strong sensitivity to CO gas molecules. Moreover, Au-ZrSe2 and Pt-ZrSe2 are of great significance for the adsorption sensing mechanism and also offer prospective materials for the advancement of gas-sensitive sensors.

RESUMO

The major characteristics of obesity are abnormal lipid metabolism, chronic inflammation, and imbalanced gut microbiota. It has been reported that lactic acid bacteria (LAB) possess potential for alleviating obesity, considering which the strain-specific functions and diverse mechanisms and the roles and mechanisms of various LAB are worthy of investigation. This study aimed to validate and investigate the alleviating effects and underlying mechanisms of three LAB strains, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum NCUH001046 (LP), Limosilactobacillus reuteri NCUH064003, and Limosilactobacillus fermentum NCUH003068 (LF), in high-fat-diet-induced obese mice. The findings demonstrated that the three strains, particularly LP, suppressed body weight gain and fat deposition; ameliorated lipid disorders, liver and adipocyte morphology, and chronic low-grade inflammation; and reduced lipid synthesis via activating the adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway. In addition, LP and LF decreased the enrichment of bacteria positively correlated with obesity, like Mucispirillum, Olsenella, and Streptococcus, but facilitated the growth of beneficial bacteria negatively correlated with obesity, like Roseburia, Coprococcus, and Bacteroides, along with increasing the short-chain fatty acid levels. It is deduced that the underlying alleviating mechanism of LP was to modulate the hepatic AMPK signaling pathway and gut microbiota by the microbiome-fat-liver axis to alleviate obesity development. In conclusion, as a diet supplement, LP has promising potential in obesity prevention and treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Lumbar ligamentum flavum cyst is a rare spinal condition that can cause significant morbidity and neurological deficits. Traditional surgical treatment involves open surgery, which can be associated with prolonged recovery time and significant morbidity. In recent years, endoscopic treatment of lumbar ligamentum flavum cyst has emerged as a minimally invasive and effective alternative to open surgery, but only a few cases have been reported in the literature. This paper describes our experience with endoscopic resection of an L4/5 ligamentum flavum cyst through an interlaminar approach and reviews the literature on the treatment of lumbar ligamentum flavum cyst. METHODS: An 87-year-old man presented with lameness in the left leg, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed nerve compression by a ligamentum flavum cyst at the L4/5 intervertebral plane. The patient underwent endoscopic resection of the ligamentum flavum cyst through a left interlaminar approach with the facet joint preserved. The present study was approved by the Ethics Committee of our hospital. The datasets used and/or analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. Text regarding patient consent is not applicable for this case. RESULTS: Postoperative clinical results improved significantly, and postoperative MRI showed complete cyst resection. CONCLUSION: Total endoscopic resection via an interlaminar approach provides a new minimally invasive approach for the surgical treatment of lumbar ligamentum flavum cyst, which can be used as a reference by clinicians.

RESUMO

Background: STK11 mutation in LUAD affects immune cell infiltration in tumor tissue, and is associated with tumor prognosis. Objective: This study aimed to construct a STK11 mutation and immune-related LUAD prognostic model. Materials and Methods: The mutation frequency of STK11 in LUAD was queried via cBioPortal in TCGA and PanCancer Atlas databases. The degree of immune infiltration was analyzed by CIBERSORT analysis. DEGs in STK11mut and STK11wt samples were analyzed. Metascape, GO and KEGG methods were adopted for functional and signaling pathway enrichment analysis of DEGs. Genes related to immune were overlapped with DEGs to acquire immune-related DEGs, whose Cox regression and LASSO analyses were employed to construct prognostic model. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses verified the independence of riskscore and clinical features. A nomogram was established to predict the OS of patients. Additionally, TIMER was introduced to analyze relationship between infiltration abundance of 6 immune cells and expression of feature genes in LUAD. Results: The mutation frequency of STK11 in LUAD was 16%, and the degrees of immune cell infiltration were different between the wild-type and mutant STK11. DEGs of STK11 mutated and unmutated LUAD samples were mainly enriched in immune-related biological functions and signaling pathways. Finally, 6 feature genes were obtained, and a prognostic model was established. Riskscore was an independent immuno-related prognostic factor for LUAD. The nomogram diagram was reliable. Conclusion: Collectively, genes related to STK11 mutation and immunity were mined from the public database, and a 6-gene prognostic prediction signature was generated.

RESUMO

Progesterone is essential in females to maintain a regular menstrual cycle and pregnancy. The luteinizing hormone (LH) surge induces the luteinization of granulosa cells and thecal cells to form the corpus luteum, which is responsible for progesterone synthesis. However, the specific mechanism of how hCG, the analog of LH, regulates progesterone synthesis has yet to be fully discovered. In this study, we found that progesterone level was increased in adult wild-type pregnant mice 2 and 7 days post-coitum, along with a decrease in let-7 expression compared with the estrus stage. Besides, the let-7 expression was negatively correlated with progesterone level in post-delivery day 23 wild-type female mice after being injected with PMSG and hCG. Then, using let-7 transgenic mice and a human granulosa cell line, we found that overexpression of let-7 antagonized progesterone level via targeting p27Kip1 and p21Cip1 and steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) expression, which is a rate-limiting enzyme in progesterone synthesis. Furthermore, hCG suppressed let-7 expression by stimulating the MAPK pathway. This study elucidated the role of microRNA let-7 in regulating hCG-induced progesterone production and provided new insights into its role in clinical application.

RESUMO

Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is one of the most lethal cancers of the haematopoietic system with a poorly understood aetiology. Recent studies have shown that aberrant alternative splicing (AS) and a (RBP) regulators are highly associated with the pathogenesis of AML. This study presents an overview of the abnormal AS and differential expression of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) in AML and further highlights their close relation to the remodelling of the immune microenvironment in AML patients. An in-depth understanding of the regulatory mechanism underlying AML will contribute to the future development of strategies for the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of AML and thus improve the overall survival of patients with AML.

RESUMO

Chemotherapy is extensively used to treat cancers and is often associated with ovarian damage and leads to premature ovarian insufficiency and infertility, while the role of mitochondria during ovarian damage with chemotherapy remains unknown. This study used a mouse model with oocyte-specific deletion of mitochondrial stress response gene Caseinolytic peptidase P (Clpp) to investigate mitochondrial homeostasis in oocytes from mice receiving a chemotherapeutic drug cyclophosphamide (CTX). We found that oocyte-specific deletion of Clpp reduced fecundity of the mice at advanced age. The deletion led to meiotic defects with elevated abnormal spindle rate and aneuploidy rate with impaired mitochondrial function in the MII oocytes from 8-week-old mice. Upon CTX treatment at 8-week-old, the oocyte competence and folliculogenesis from the oocyte-specific Clpp knockout mice was further deteriorated with dramatic impairment of mitochondrial distribution and function including elevated ROS level, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, respiratory chain activity and ATP production. Taken together, the results indicate that that ClpP was required for oocyte competence during maturation and early folliculogenesis, and its deficiency deteriorate cyclophosphamide-induced ovarian damage.

RESUMO

Background: HLA-DR+ T cell, accounting for 1.2%-5.8% of peripheral lymphocyte, is a type of activated T lymphocyte. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of HLA-DR+ T cell for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after curative surgery. Patients and Methods. Clinicopathological data of 192 patients who underwent curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma in the affiliated hospital of Qingdao University between January 2013 and December 2021 were collected and analyzed. Statistical tests used in this study were the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The prognostic value of the HLA-DR+ T cell ratio was analyzed using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. The Kaplan-Meier curves were drawn by the R programming language. Results: HCC patients were divided into high (≥5.8%) and low (<5.8%) HLADR+ T cell ratio groups. Cox regression analysis indicated that a high HLA-DR+ T cell ratio was positively related to the PFS in HCC patients (P=0.003) and AFP-positive (≥20 ng/ml) HCC patients (P=0.020). HCC patients and AFP-positive HCC patients in the high HLA-DR+ T cell ratio group were prone to have a higher T cell ratio, a higher CD8+T cell ratio, and a lower B cell ratio than the low HLA-DR+ T cell ratio group. However, the HLA-DR+ T cell ratio was not a statistically significant predictor for OS in HCC patients (P=0.57) as well as PFS (P=0.088) and OS (P=0.63) in AFP-negative HCC patients. Conclusions: This study confirmed that the HLA-DR+ T cell ratio was a significant predictor of PFS in HCC patients and AFP-positive HCC patients after curative surgery. This association may have guiding significance for the follow-up work of HCC patients after surgery.

RESUMO

Objective: We conducted a scientometric and visual analysis of meningioma studies in the past ten years and discussed the current status and trends of meningioma research to provide a reference basis for conducting relevant clinical practice or research. Method: A search of the topic of meningioma in the Web of Science Core Collection database was conducted for January 2012-December 2021. The scientometric tools CiteSpace (version 5.8.R3), VOS viewer (version 1.6.17), and the Bibliometrix package of R software (version 4.2.1) were used to visualize and analyze the country of publication, institution, author, keywords, and cited literature of meningioma. Results: A total of 10,397 documents related to meningioma were collected, of which 6,714 articles were analyzed. The annual analysis shows an increase in published articles, with an annual growth rate of 8.9%. 26,696 authors from 111 countries or regions were involved in publishing relevant studies. The country with the highest number of publications was the United States (1671), and the institution with the highest number of publications was the University of California, San Francisco (242). The keyword clustering of current studies can be grouped into five groups: meningioma characteristics and basic research, surgical treatment, radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and management of complications. Keyword trend analysis shows that meningioma classification and molecular characteristics are emerging hotspots for meningioma research in recent years. Conclusion: The scientometric and visual analysis demonstrated the research status and trends of meningioma. Over the past decade, meningioma research has focused on managing meningiomas with a predominance of surgical treatment and radiation therapy. At the same time, meningioma classification and molecular characteristics are emerging as current and possible research hotspots in the coming period.

RESUMO

Diagnosis and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is critical to tuberculosis (TB) control. Identifying the risk factors associated with LTBI can contribute to developing an optimized strategy for LTBI management. We conducted a survey of adults aged 65 years and older living in rural areas in Zhejiang Province during July 2021, followed by a one-year follow-up period to determine TB incidence. Participants underwent a physical examination and 5-6 mL of blood was drawn to test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection A total of 1856 individuals participated in the study, of whom 50.5% were men and 80.1% were married. Most participants (96.8%) often opened windows for ventilation at home. One-third (33.4%) of participants had abnormal chest radiographs and 34.9% had LTBI. Nine participants (0.5%) developed active TB patients during the one-year follow-up period. People who frequented closed entertainment places such as chess and card rooms had a relatively high percentage of LTBI (39.5%). Factors associated with a higher risk of LTBI in multivariable logistic regression analysis included being male (odds ratio [OR]:1.32; 95% confidence interval [CI] =:1.01-1.72), smoking (OR: 1.43; 95% CI:1.04-1.97), not opening windows for ventilation at home frequently (OR: 1.88; 95% CI: 1.10-3.22), and abnormal chest radiographs (OR; 1.48; 95% CI; 1.20-1.81). LTBI was prevalent among the elder adults living in high-epidemic rural areas of TB in Zhejiang province. Men, people who smoke, and people without the habit of ventilating at home should be targeted for LTBI screening to accelerate the decline of the TB epidemic in Zhejiang Province.
