RESUMO

Growing Wistar rats received intragastrically nanoparticles (NPs) of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) daily during 28 days at doses of 1 or 100 mg per kg body mass. There were studied body mass of animals, relative mass of internals, rate of protein macromolecules absorption in the gut, oxidative damage of DNA, pool of tissue thiols, activity of hepatic enzymes of xenobiotic detoxication system, biochemical and hematological blood indices, stability of lysosome membranes, condition of antioxidant defense system, apoptosis of hepatocytes. Conducted experiments didn't reveal any marked toxic action of Al2O3 NPs on rats after 28 days of administration both in high and low dose. Among effects probably related to NPs influence on animals there were lowering of relative liver and lung masses, decrease of hepatic thiol pool, activity of CYP1A1 isoform in liver and glutathione reductase in erythrocytes, increase of diene conjugates of fatty acids in blood plasma. Said shifts were small in magnitude, didn't come out of margins of physiological norm and didn't show any distinct relation to NPs dose. However considering great importance of this nanomaterial as probable environmental contaminant the studies of it's toxicity must be continued in conditions of low doses (less than 1 mg per kg body mass) for long period of time.

RESUMO

Analysis of dietary intake for the month before admission using the food frequency method in patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) showed high level consumption of vitamin C, excessive consumption of phosphorus and deficiency in consumption of vitamins A, B1, B2. 82% of patients had low calcium excretion per 1 kg of body mass, 16% of people had high level of bone resorption. In the group of patients with low calcium consumption, content of all the vitamins in daily ration was significantly lower, than that in the group with adequate calcium consumption. High spread of osteopenia among patients with CVD was expected because of deficiency in calcium consumption and their lowe supply with vitamin D, that appears risk factors of osteoporosis. But, actually, only 10% of patients had osteopenia and only 2 from 132 osteoporosis. Knowing that 95% of patients were overweighted, we suppose that low spread of osteopenia may be caused by estrogen-producing ability of fatty tissue.

RESUMO

It was investigated the influence of dietary therapy containing sunflower oil with phospholipids (PL) on the lipid profile of plasma and composition of fatty acids of red blood cells in patients with hypertension and obesity. The results show that after the period of three weeks for each diet the unrefined sunflower oil supplemented with PL (30 gr oil containing 10, 8 gr PL) in diet had more influence on lowering of blood pressure (specially on diastolic BP). This diet reduced serum total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), apolipoprotein A 1, apoB and fibrinogen more than the refined sunflower oil diet. This oil presents useful source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and essential PL for diets aimed at prevention of heart disease.

RESUMO

It was investigated the influence of a diet supplemented with amaranth oil on dynamic of antioxidant and immune status in 125 patients with ischemic heart disease and hyper-lipoproteidemia. The efficacy of diets with different contents of squalene (100, 200, 400, 600 mg per day) was compared. It was shown that antiatherosclerotic diet with inclusion 600 mg squalene has promoted the most positive changes of immune status. The consumption of 200-400 mg of squalene per day produced the more significant antioxidant effect.

RESUMO

Alimentary induced oxidative stress and its corrections in children and adults with homocysteine metabolism disorder are urgent problems for arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular disease prophylactics. For determination antioxidant status GSH-Px, SOD, GSH-reductase, catalase activities were detected. Effectiveness of Se-contained antioxidant complex "Selenec" was determined in experimental model with pubertal male Wistar rats. Including high value of methionine to semipurified diet with pyridoxine and folate deficiency induced oxidative stress. Lipid peroxidation substances were increased in blood, liver, intestine mucous tunic, aortal endothelium and myocardium. GSH-Px, SOD, GSH-reductase, catalase activities decreased significant compared to control. "Selenec" supplementation caused a decrease of thiobarbituric-reactive substances level, increasing SOD and catalase activity and decreasing GSH-Px and GSH-reductase activity in blood, liver, intestine mucous tunic, aorta and myocardium.

RESUMO

It was investigated the influence of a diet supplemented with polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) omega-3 on dynamic of basal glycaemia, lipid profile and composition of fatty acids of erythrocytes in type 2 diabetic patients. Traditional 9 diet was supplemented with fish ("Eiconol", 8 grams per day) or vegetable (linseed oil, 17.5 grams per day) PUFA omega-3. The results investigations indicated that a omega-3 PUFA-enriched diet has a beneficial effects on lipid metabolism. But dietary administration of PUFA omega-3 may be used differently for correction of dislipoproteinemia in diabetic patients.

RESUMO

It was investigated the influence of a diet supplemented with PUFA omega-3 (linseed oil) on dynamic of basal and postprandial glycemia, blood pressure, lipid levels, parameters of lipid peroxidation in 60 patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Linseed oil was used as a dietary supplement of PUFA omega-3. The results indicated that a diet supplemented with linseed oil (17.5 g/day) did not increase the effect of dietary therapy in correction of glycemia, hypertension and atherogenic lipid levels. It was not the activation of lipid peroxidation.

RESUMO

The antioxidant index (AOI) of erythrocytes in the form of the polynomial including, on the one hand, positive value of antioxidant enzymes activities (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase) and, on the other hand, fixed concentrations of lipid peroxidation products (malonic dialdehyde and diene conjugates). Informative significance of this index together with variance data are shown for different groups of patients. In monitoring of the condition of patients of the course diet therapy AOI may play an essential role.

RESUMO

It was found that low nutritional status for vitamin C, B2, beta-carotene, selenium and calcium are most prominent nutritional problem for population of Sverdlovskaja region of Russia. Level of calcium in serum was low in 50% of examined population. The results suggest the necessity of dietary intake and food contamination assessments for this population.

RESUMO

Relationship between the levels of calcium, potassium, and iron in rations and the indexes of antioxidant system of rats exposed to prolonged 137Cs loading was studied. Calcium deficiency was found to weaken the antioxidant system. Increased intake of potassium and iron provide high level of adaptation of the antioxidant system.

RESUMO

A state of the anti-oxidation system in blood and the rate of lipid peroxidation were studied in patients with hypertension. High sensitivity of the anti-oxidation system enzymes to alterations in the diet fat composition was detected in the patients, nutrition of whom was evaluated in detail. Excessive doses of alpha-tocopherol, added to the diet enriched with omega 3-polyunsaturated fatty acids normalized lipid peroxidation and stabilized the enzyme activity involved in the anti-oxidation system. The integral parameter, proposed for evaluation of the anti-oxidation protection state and designated as "anti-oxidation index" involved estimation of catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione reductase and peroxidase activities as well as of content of malonic dialdehyde and diene conjugates in erythrocytes.
