RESUMO

The aim of this research was to study the metabolite composition, antioxidative potential and cytotoxic activities of Solanum melongena fruit extracts. Phytochemical analyses of extracts were performed using LC-MS. Phenolic compounds were the major constituents present in the fruit extracts. Free radical scavenging activities were recorded and the highest activities were reported in methanolic extracts using DPPH (103.70 ± 2.75 EC50 µg/mL), ABTS (81.74 ± 3.64 EC50 µg/mL), and FRAP (22.39 ± 1.52 µmol TE/g) assays. Quantification has suggested the presence of delphinidin derivatives, and caffeic acid conjugates as major constituents of fruit extracts. The potential binding of these derivatives with human cell surface receptors was analysed using in silico analysis and validated for cytotoxic and apoptotic effects using in vitro studies on human cancer cell lines. The methanolic extract has shown the highest cytotoxic activity.

Comprehensive and effective care techniques have become essential due to the global epidemic dimensions of metabolic disorders, including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular ailments. Recent research highlights the potential of dietary supplements, herbal extracts, and phytochemicals in treating metabolic diseases. This abstract conveys the current state of the science in this field by highlighting these findings' underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic applications. Plant-based diets contain naturally occurring bioactive molecules termed phytochemicals, which have shown promise in treating various metabolic illnesses. Examples include curcumin, flavonoids, and polyphenols' insulin-sensitizing, antioxidant, and antiinflammatory properties. Herbal extracts, derived from ancient medicinal herbs, have been used by people for years to treat a wide range of ailments. Recent studies have shown the efficacy of these strategies in improving lipid profiles, glucose metabolism, and overall cardiovascular health. Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals are just a few of the numerous nutritional supplements that are critical to metabolic health. These vitamins improve insulin sensitivity, regulate blood sugar, and decrease inflammation. Probiotics and prebiotics also affect the gut flora, which significantly affects metabolic function. These natural medicines' ability to treat metabolic diseases either by themselves or in combination with conventional medical interventions. However, when using it therapeutically, one must consider the differences in doses, individual responses, and bioavailability. The article concludes that phytochemicals, plant extracts, and food supplements offer a promising avenue for the management of metabolic illnesses. Comprehensive research, including clinical studies, is needed to ascertain their safety and efficacy characteristics. When added to treatment strategies, these natural therapies could be helpful supplements that improve overall health and the quality of life among individuals with metabolic diseases. Naringenin, a citrus flavonoid, can potentially prevent kidney injury in hyperuricemia by reducing uric acid, inflammation, apoptosis, DNA damage, and activating antioxidants. Further research and professional consultation are essential. Factors contributing to metabolic diseases, current approaches to management nutritional approaches for managing obesityassociated metabolic impairments in the liver and small intestine, and nutritional approaches for managing obesity-associated metabolic dysregulation are also explained briefly.

PURPOSE: Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is reportedly an effective prognostic tool across various medical and surgical fields, but its value in spinal surgery is unestablished. We aim to investigate the relationship between elevated baseline/postoperative NLR and patient outcomes in spinal surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a systematic search in PubMed, EMBASE, and SCOPUS databases for studies investigating the prognostic value of NLR in spine patients.Odds ratios (ORs) and hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were analysed on the RevMan 5.4 software. Where meta-analysis was not possible, we vote-counted the direction of the effect of elevated NLR. The GRADE framework for prognostic factor research was utilised to assess the certainty of the evidence for each outcome measure. RESULTS: Five outcome measures (overall survival, mortality, disease-free survival, functional recovery and complications) were assessed across 16 studies involving 5471 patients. Elevated baseline NLR was associated with reduced overall survival (HR: 1.63, 95 % CI: 1.05 - 2.54) (GRADE: low) and worsened functional recovery (OR: 0.93, 95 % CI: 0.87 - 0.98) (GRADE: low). There was no association between baseline NLR and disease-free survival (HR: 2.42, 95 % CI: 0.49 - 11.83) (GRADE: very low) or mortality (OR: 1.39, 95 % CI: 0.41 - 4.75) (GRADE: very low). Elevated NLR levels measured on days 3-4 and days 6-7 postoperatively, but not NLR measured at baseline or on days 1-2 postoperatively, were associated with greater risks of complications (GRADE: low). CONCLUSIONS: NLR is an objective tool with the potential to identify the patients that would benefit from surgery and facilitate shared decision-making.

In pursuit of enhancing the stability of the highly explosive and shock-sensitive compound XeO3, we performed quantum chemical calculations to investigate its possible complexation with electron-rich crown ethers, including 9-crown-3, 12-crown-4, 15-crown-5, 18-crown-6, and 21-crown-7, as well as their thio analogues. Furthermore, we expanded our study to other noble gas trioxides (NgO3), namely, KrO3 and ArO3. The basis set superposition error (BSSE) corrected interaction energies for these adducts range from -13.0 kcal/mol to -48.2 kcal/mol, which is notably high for σ-hole-mediated noncovalent interactions. The formation of these adducts was observed to be more favorable with the increase in the ring size of the crowns and less favorable while going from XeO3 to ArO3. A comprehensive analysis by various computational tools such as the mapping of the electrostatic potential (ESP), Wiberg bond indices (WBIs), Bader's theory of atoms-in-molecules (AIM), natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, noncovalent interaction (NCI) plots, and energy decomposition analysis (EDA) revealed that the C-H···O interactions, as well as dispersion interactions, play a pivotal role in stabilizing adducts involving larger crowns. A noteworthy outcome of our study is the revelation of a coordination number of 9 for xenon in the complex formed between XeO3 and the thio analogue of 18-crown-6, which is higher than the largest number reported to date.

This paper describes a simple and practical protocol for the direct synthesis of acyclic and cyclic quinone derivatives via an acid-promoted nickel(II)-catalyzed inner rim C-H oxidation of cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) and its analogues. The cyclic quinone derivatives resulted from trimethoxy-cyclotriveratrylene (TCTV) through C-C bond formation via intramolecular ipso substitution followed by subsequent anionic rearrangement containing stereo-vicinal quaternary centers. The DFT calculations strongly support the experimental findings and reveal the role of Brønsted acids in the C-H bond activation of CTV. All the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro anti-cancer activity using colorimetric SRB assay analysis. Among them, compounds 3a, 3d, 3h, 4a, 4b, 4c and 4e exhibited moderate anticancer activity against A549, HCT-116, PC-3, MDA-MB-231, HEK-293 and SW620 human cancer cell lines.

The current situation, which includes changes in eating habits, an increasing population, and the unrestricted use of natural resources, has resulted in a lack of resources that could be used to provide nourishing food to everyone. Natural plant resources are quickly being depleted, so it is necessary to consider new alternatives. In addition to the staple grains of rice and wheat, many other crops are being consumed that need to be utilized to their full potential and have the potential to replace the staple crops. Millets are one of the most important underutilized crops that have the potential to be used as a nutricereal. Millets have a high nutritional value, do not produce acids, do not contain gluten, and can contribute to a healthy diet. Due to a lack of awareness regarding the nutritional value of millets, their consumption is still restricted to the population that adheres to conventional diets and is economically disadvantaged even though millets contain a significant amount of nutrients. Millets are becoming increasingly unpopular due to a lack of processing technologies, food subsidies, and the inconvenience of preparing food with millets. Millets are a Nutricereal rich in carbohydrates, dietary fibers, energy, essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamin B, and minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. These nutrients help to protect against post-translational diseases such as diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and celiac disease, among others. Millets are beneficial for controlling blood pressure, blood sugar level, and thyroid function; however, despite these functional properties, millets consumption has declined. Utilizing millets and other staple food crops to develop alternative food sources has become a new area of focus for businesses in the food industry. In addition, millet consumption can help foster immunity and health, which is essential in strengthening our fight against malnutrition in children and adolescents. In this article, the authors examine the potential of millets in terms of their nutricereal qualities.

PURPOSE: To describe the longitudinal response in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and who underwent liver transplant (LT) using gadoxetate-enhanced MRI. METHODS: Five men (median age 61y, range 57-64y) with 6 HCCs treated with SBRT (median dose 50 Gy) who subsequently underwent LT were included in this retrospective study. Patients underwent gadoxetate-enhanced MRI before and after SBRT over a period of 3-18 months. Response was assessed using RECIST1.1, mRECIST, LI-RADS and image subtraction, by 2 observers in consensus. Percentage of pathologic tumor necrosis was evaluated. RESULTS: LT was performed 278 days (IQR, 148-418d) after completion of SBRT and 48d after the last MRI. Histopathology demonstrated tumor necrosis of 48 ± 42% (range, 10-100%). Mean tumor size at baseline and last post-treatment MRIs pre-LT were 2.6 ± 0.8 cm and 2.4 ± 0.9 cm. Enhancing tumor component size at baseline MRI and last post-treatment MRI pre-LT were 1.6 ± 0.8 cm and 0.9 ± 1.0 cm. Responses assessed at the last LRI pre-LT were: partial response (PR, n = 3), stable disease (SD, n = 3) using RECIST1.1; complete response (CR, n = 2), partial response (PR, n = 2), stable disease (SD, n = 2) using mRECIST; and LR-TR viable (n = 4), LR-TR non-viable (n = 2) using LI-RADS. At the last MRI pre-LT, per-lesion features of arterial phase hyperenhancement (APHE, 4/6), portal venous washout (3/6) and capsule (3/6) were observed. 5/6 lesions displayed a hypointense perilesional halo on hepatobiliary phase with a mean delay of 3.1 months post-SBRT. CONCLUSIONS: This case-series showed decreased size, persistent APHE, and incomplete pathologic necrosis in most HCCs treated with SBRT undergoing transplant.

PURPOSE: Primary brain neoplasms are the most common solid tumors in pediatric patients and seizures are a common presenting symptom. Surgical intervention improves oncologic outcomes and seizure burden. A better understanding of factors that influence seizure outcomes in the surgical management of primary brain tumors of childhood can guide treatment approach thereby improving patient quality of life. METHODS: We performed a systematic analysis using articles queried from PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane published from January 1990 to August 2022 to determine predictors of seizure outcomes in pediatric patients undergoing resection of primary brain tumors. RESULTS: We identified 24 retrospective cohort studies, one prospective cohort study, and one mixed retrospective and prospective study for the systematic analysis. A total of 831 pediatric patients were available for analysis. 668 (80.4%) patients achieved seizure freedom after surgery. Complete tumor resection increased the likelihood of a seizure-free (Engel I) outcome compared to subtotal resection (OR 7.1, 95% CI 2.3-21.9). Rates of Engel I seizure outcomes did not significantly differ based on factors such as age at seizure onset, duration of epilepsy, gender, tumor laterality, or age at surgery, but trended towards significance for improved outcomes in temporal lobe tumors. CONCLUSION: Primary brain tumors in the pediatric population are commonly associated with seizures. Resection of these lesions reduces seizure burden and is associated with high rates of seizure freedom. Complete resection, compared to subtotal resection, significantly increases the likelihood of seizure-free outcomes.

Obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are just a few chronic diseases for which proper nutrition has been demonstrated to be a crucial factor in prevention. Flavonoids, found in many fruits and vegetables, are a type of dietary polyphenol with potent antioxidant activity and anti-carcinogenic characteristics. Flavonoids and foods rich in flavonoids have been shown in recent years to have profound effects on cognitive function, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. Foods high in flavonoids, such as green tea, chocolate, blueberries, and other fruits and vegetables, have ameliorated symptoms of cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia in several animal models. As a result of their ability to prevent neuronal death generated by neurotoxic chemicals such as free radicals and ß-amyloid proteins. Furthermore, flavonoids are also effective in slowing the evolution of clinical signs of neurodegenerative illnesses. In addition, flavonoids can improve lipid profiles by preventing the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins, and these antioxidant capabilities are responsible for their therapeutic impacts. Finally, the potential of flavonoids to induce vasodilation and control apoptotic processes in the endothelium is another way in which they benefit the cardiovascular system. This review aims to offer up-to-date information on categorizing these compounds, their primary methods of action in the human body, and their positive impacts on the management of neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and other life-threatening diseases.

INTRODUCTION: Resection of brain lesions associated with refractory epilepsy to achieve seizure control is well accepted. However, concurrent behavioral effects of these lesions such as changes in mood, personality, and cognition and the effects of surgery on behavior have not been well characterized. We describe 5 such children with epileptogenic lesions and significant behavioral abnormalities which improved after surgery. CASE DESCRIPTIONS: Five children (ages 3-14 years) with major behavioral abnormalities and lesional epilepsy were identified and treated at our center. Behavioral problems included academic impairment, impulsivity, self-injurious behavior, and decreased social interaction with diagnoses of ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and autism. Pre-operative neuropsychiatric testing was performed in 4/5 patients and revealed low-average cognitive and intellectual abilities for their age, attentional difficulties, and poor memory. Lesions were located in the temporal (2 gangliogliomas, 1 JPA, 1 cavernoma) and parietal (1 DNET) lobes. Gross total resection was achieved in all cases. At mean 1-year follow-up, seizure freedom (Engel 1a in 3 patients, Engel 1c in 2 patients) and significant behavioral improvements (academic performance, attention, socialization, and aggression) were achieved in all. Two patients manifested violence pre-operatively; one had extreme behavior with violence toward teachers and peers despite low seizure burden. Since surgery, his behavior has normalized. CONCLUSION: We identified 5 patients with severe behavioral disorders in the setting of lesional epilepsy, all of whom demonstrated improvement after surgery. The degree of behavioral abnormality was disproportionate to epilepsy severity, suggesting a more complicated mechanism by which lesional epilepsy impacts behavior. We propose a novel paradigm in which lesionectomy may offer behavioral benefit even when seizures are not refractory. Thus, behavioral improvement may be an important novel goal for neurosurgical resection in children with epileptic brain lesions.

BACKGROUND: Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a neuromodulatory procedure most extensively studied as an adjunct to medically refractory epilepsy. Despite widespread adoption and decades of clinical experience, clinical predictors of response to VNS remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate a retrospective cohort of pediatric patients undergoing VNS at our institution to better understand who may benefit from VNS and identify factors which may predict response to VNS. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study examining pediatric patients undergoing VNS over nearly a 20-year span at a single institution. Presurgical evaluation, including demographics, clinical history, and diagnostic electroencephalogram, and imaging findings were examined. Primary outcomes included VNS response. RESULTS: Two hundred ninety-seven subjects were studied. The mean age at surgery was 10.1 (SD = 4.9, range = 0.8-25.3) years; length of follow-up was a mean of 4.6 years (SD = 3.5, median = 3.9 years, range 1 day-16.1 years). There was no association between demographic factors, epilepsy etiology, or genetic basis and VNS outcomes. There was an association between reduction in main seizure type with positive MRI finding. Of all MRI findings analyzed, brain atrophy was significantly associated with worse VNS outcomes, whereas dysplastic hippocampus and chronic periventricular leukomalacia findings were found to be associated with improved outcomes. Increased seizure semiology variability and seizure type were also associated with improved seizure outcomes. CONCLUSION: Predicting response to VNS remains difficult, leading to incompletely realized benefits and suboptimal resource utilization. Specific MRI findings and increased seizure semiology variability and type can help guide clinical decision making and patient counseling.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled a global shift in healthcare service delivery towards virtualisation, including in Neurosurgery. Our study aims to elucidate the patient and neurosurgeon perceptions of virtual neurosurgery consultations (VNCs) and formulate a guidance algorithm based on our experience. METHODS: Between June 2020 and December 2020, we prospectively surveyed patients and neurosurgeons following their VNCs using a 10-item survey (four qualitative and six five-point Likert scale questions). Non-parametric hypothesis testing and grounded coding with inter-coder agreement was used to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, respectively. RESULTS: 106 patients and 10 neurosurgeons completed the survey. Wilcoxon rank-sum test revealed a statistically significant difference between the neurosurgeon and patient responses (p < 0.001). Patients perceived VNCs benefits to be enhanced efficiency (n = 142) and communication (28); and VNCs drawbacks as safety (46), technological (32), and administration (15) issues. Neurosurgeons perceived VNCs benefits to be enhanced efficiency (13), reduced COVID-19 exposure (2); and VNCs drawbacks as examination practicality (14), technological (6), and concerns for patients (6). Neurosurgeons perceived the relative indications for VNCs as postoperative follow-up clinics, and scan result discussions; and relative contraindications as neuro-oncology, new patients, and patients with worsening neurological symptoms. CONCLUSIONS: Our mirror-survey study provides preliminary evidence that VNCs render increased efficiency, communication, and safety in the current COVID-19 era. Going forward, we believe that further improvements in technology and administration are necessary, greater neurosurgeon appreciation of the patient-perceived benefits of VNCs is required, and neurosurgeons are to exercise clinical discernment on when to use VNCs.Key PointsWhat are the perceptions of patient and consultant neurosurgeons towards virtual neurosurgery consultations (VNCs)?Patient-perceived benefits of VNCs: enhanced efficiency/communication; VNC drawbacks: safety, technological, and administration issues. The transmetalation reaction of picolyl-supported tridentate nacnac germylene monochloride [2,6-iPr2-C6H3NC(Me)CHC(Me)NH(CH2py)]GeCl (1) (py = pyridine) with SnCl2 results in an analogous stannylene chloride (2). The three-coordinated stannylenium cation [{2,6-iPr2-C6H3NC(Me)CHC(Me)NH(CH2py)}Sn]+ with SnCl3- as a counteranion (3) has been generated through the abstraction of chloride ligand from 2 using an additional equivalent of SnCl2. Instead of forming a donor-acceptor complex, 2 undergoes a facile redox transmetalation reaction with Ni(COD)2 (COD = cyclooctadiene) and CuCl to afford analogous nickel and copper complexes [2,6-iPr2-C6H3NC(Me)CHC(Me)NH(CH2py)]MCl [M = Ni (4) and Cu (5)]. The reactions of 4 with potassium tri-sec-butylborohydride (commonly known as K-selectride) and AgSbF6 provide access to monomeric Ni(II) hydride, [2,6-iPr2-C6H3NC(Me)CHC(Me)NH(CH2py)]NiH (6) and a Ni(II) cation, [{2,6-iPr2-C6H3NC(Me)CHC(Me)NH(CH2py)}Ni][SbF6] (7), respectively. 6 was found to be an effective catalyst for the hydroboration of amides.

Background: Liponeurocytomas are rare neurocytic neoplasms that most often arise in the posterior fossa and affect individuals in the third and fifth decades of life. Most reported cases of this unique tumor in the literature have described a favorable clinical prognosis without recurrence. However, increasing reports of recurrent cases prompted the World Health Organization, in 2016, to recategorize the tumor from Grade I to the less favorable Grade II classification. We conducted a systematic review to identify recurrent cases of this unique tumor and to summarize differences between the primary and recurrent cases of liponeurocytoma. Methods: A systematic review exploring recurrent liponeurocytoma cases was conducted by searching the PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases for articles in English. Abstracts from articles were read and selected for full-text review according to a priori criteria. Relevant full-text articles were analyzed for symptoms, imaging, location, histological, pathological, treatment, and recurrence-free time between the primary and recurrent cases. Results: Of 4392 articles, 15 articles accounting for 18 patients were included (level of evidence: IV) in the study. Recurrence-free time decreased from an average of 82 months between the primary tumor resection to first recurrence to 31.3 months between the first and second recurrence. Recurrent tumors demonstrated increased pleomorphic neural cells, necrosis, vascular proliferation, and MIB-1 index when compared to the primary tumor. Several cases also demonstrated decreased lipidizing components when compared to the primary tumor, further indicating increased dedifferentiation. The primary treatment for this tumor was surgical resection with occasional adjunctive radiotherapy. Conclusion: Recurrent cases of liponeurocytoma have features of increased malignant proliferation compared to the primary cases. The standard treatment for these primary and recurrent tumors is gross total resection. The role of adjunctive radiotherapy remains a matter of debate.

Novel Yttrium-metal-organic framework (Y-MOF) was synthesized under optimal conditions of microwave with a power of 20 W, the temperature of 30 degrees of centigrade, and time duration of 10 min. The products were characterized by SEM (morphology and size distribution), TGA (thermal stability), BET technique (surface area), and FTIR (characterization of the related group). The Yttrium-metal-organic framework (Y-MOF) synthesized in this study, after identifying and confirming the structure, was used as an efficient and recyclable catalyst in the synthesis of new pyrazolopyranopyrimidine derivatives. Following the study of the properties and applications of Y-MOF, its anticancer properties on breast cancer cells based on the MTT method were evaluated, and significant results were observed. In addition, the anticancer properties of the pyrazolopyranopyrimidine derivatives were investigated.

Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has replaced axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) for axillary staging in early node-negative breast cancer (BC) patients in developed countries. However, in resource-constrained developing countries, adoption of SLNB is slow due to logistic issues and lack of outcome data from non-screened BC cohort. Therefore, we aim to report diagnostic performance, surgical morbidity and survival outcome of SLNB in BC patients from a tertiary care cancer centre in India. Methodology: 1,521 consecutive early node-negative T1-3N0 BC patients having SLNB from 2011 to 2020 were included in the study. Data were retrieved from the institutional Redcap database and electronic medical records. Analysis was done using Stata14. Results: SLNB was done by dual dye (methylene blue (MB) + radioisotope (RI)/indo cyanine green (ICG)) in 57.7%, MB only in 39.3%, and RI alone in 3% of patients. The identification rate (IR) and SLNB positivity rate were 96% and 27.7%, respectively. IR was highest (98%) with MB + ICG and lowest (94%) with MB alone SLNB. UltraSonoGraphy guided fine needle aspiration cytology of radiological suspicious nodes has significantly reduced the SLNB positivity rate from 34.6% to 26.4% (p < 0.01). One patient had skin necrosis, and 16 had persistent blue staining of the skin in the MB injection site. All were managed conservatively. The lymphedema rate was significantly higher (5.2%) in the ALND versus 0.5% in the SLNB alone patients (p < 0.05). In a median follow up of 27 months, the axillary recurrence rate was 0.04% (4/1,023), and false-negative rate was 0.9% in SLNB negative patients. There were 35 recurrences and 25 deaths in SLNB negative patients, with 10 years predicted disease-free survival of 81% (95% CI 66% to 89%) and overall survival of 79% (95% CI 59% to 90%). Conclusions: SLNB should be offered as an axillary staging procedure to all eligible BC patients from developing countries to avoid the morbidity associated with ALND. Fluorescent dye can be used as an alternative for RI in a resource-constrained setup.

Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is an autosomal dominant familial hamartomatous polyposis syndrome characterized by multiple gastrointestinal hamartomatous polyps and mucocutaneous melanin pigmentation. We report two cases, with no family history, presenting as emergency, one with perforation peritonitis due to spontaneous bowel disruption and another with bowel gangrene due to severe bowel congestion secondary to intussusception. Histological examination showed features of hamartomatous polyposis; other clinical features in these patients were suggestive of the diagnosis of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome. Given the multitude of carcinoma that these patients are susceptible to, aggressive screening protocols are recommended. Close monitoring and follow-up are essential in PJS patients for the prevention of potential complications, early detection of related malignancies due their increased risk for both intestinal and extraintestinal malignancies.

BACKGROUND: Whole-genome sequencing information which is of abundant significance for genetic evolution, and breeding of crops. Wheat (Triticum spp) is most widely grown and consumed crops globally. Micronutrients are very essential for healthy development of human being and their sufficient consumption in diet is essential for various metabolic functions. Biofortification of wheat grains with iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) has proved the most reliable and effective way to combat micronutrient associated deficiency. Genetic variability for grain micronutrient could provide insight to dissect the traits. METHODS AND RESULTS: In the current study, 1300 wheat lines were screened for grain Fe and Zn content, out of which only five important Indian wheat genotypes were selected on the basis of Fe and Zn contents. These lines were multiplied during at the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) and re-sequenced to identify genomic variants in candidate genes for Fe and Zn between the genotypes. Whole genome sequencing generated Ì´ 12 Gb clean data. Comparative genome analysis identified 254 genomic variants in the candidate genes associated with deleterious effect on protein function. CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated the fundamental in understanding the genomic variations for Fe and Zn enrichment to generate healthier wheat grains.
