BACKGROUND: Despite an increase in outpatient total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA), large-scale data are lacking on current practice for antibiotic prophylaxis prescribing. We aimed to describe current oral antibiotic prophylaxis practices nationally for outpatient THA and TKA. METHODS: This nationwide retrospective cohort study included primary outpatient THA or TKA procedures in patients aged 18 to 64 years from 2018 to 2021 using a national claims database. Oral antibiotic prescriptions filled perioperatively (defined as 5 days before to 3 days after surgery) were extracted; these were categorized and assumed to represent postoperative prophylaxis. Multivariable logistic regression measured associations between patient and surgery characteristics and perioperative oral antibiotic prophylaxis. Adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) are reported. RESULTS: Oral antibiotic prescriptions were filled in 16.5% of 73,015 outpatient THA and TKA (18.4% of 24,857 THAs, 15.5% of 48,158 TKAs) procedures. Prescriptions were most often for cephalosporins (74.3%), with cephalexin (52.8%), and cefadroxil (19.1%) being the most common. Non-cephalosporin antibiotics prescribed were mainly clindamycin (6.8%), sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (6.7%), and doxycycline (6.2%). The odds of receiving oral antibiotic prophylaxis were higher for THA compared to TKA (OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.09 to 1.18, P < .001) and in the presence of obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions (OR 1.08 to 1.13, P < .001 to .01). Ambulatory surgery center procedures also had significantly increased odds of prophylaxis compared to hospital-based outpatient surgeries (OR 2.62, 95% CI 2.51 to 2.73, P < .001). Additionally, regional and time-based variations were noted. CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative oral antibiotic prophylaxis prescriptions were filled in only 16.5% of outpatient THA and TKA cases, with variation in the type of antibiotic prescribed. The receipt of any prophylaxis and specific medications was associated with demographic, clinical, and procedure-related characteristics. Follow-up research will evaluate associations with infection risk reduction.

Cisplatin alone or in combination with 5FU and docetaxel is the preferred chemotherapy regimen for advanced-stage OSCC patients. However, its use has been linked to recurrence and metastasis due to the development of drug resistance. Therefore, sensitization of cancer cells to conventional chemotherapeutics can be an effective strategy to overcome drug resistance. Piperlongumine (PL), an alkaloid, have shown anticancer properties and sensitizes numerous neoplasms, but its effect on OSCC has not been explored. However, low aqueous solubility and poor pharmacokinetics limit its clinical application. Therefore, to improve its therapeutic efficacy, we developed piperlongumine-loaded PLGA-based smart nanoparticles (smart PL-NPs) that can rapidly release PL in an acidic environment of cancer cells and provide optimum drug concentrations to overcome chemoresistance. Our results revealed that smart PL-NPs has high cellular uptake in acidic environment, facilitating the intracellular delivery of PL and sensitizing cancer cells to cisplatin, resulting in synergistic anticancer activity in vitro by increasing DNA damage, apoptosis, and inhibiting drug efflux. Further, we have mechanistically explored the Hippo-YAP signaling pathway, which is the critical mediator of chemoresistance, and investigated the chemosensitizing effect of PL in OSCC. We observed that PL alone and in combination with cisplatin significantly inhibits the activation of YAP and its downstream target genes and proteins. In addition, the combination of cisplatin with smart PL-NPs significantly inhibited tumor growth in two preclinical models (patient-derived cell based nude mice and zebrafish xenograft). Taken together, our findings suggest that smart PL-NPs with cisplatin will be a novel formulation to reverse cisplatin resistance in patients with advanced OSCC.

Orally targeted delivery systems have attracted ample interest in colorectal cancer management. In this investigation, we developed Inositol hexaphosphate (IHP) loaded Tripolyphosphate (Tr) crosslinked Pectin (Pe) Chitosan (Ch) nanoparticles (IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs) and modified them with l-Carnitine (CE) (CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs) to improve uptake in colon cells. The formulated CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs displayed a monodisperse distribution with 219.3 ± 5.5 nm diameter and 30.17 mV surface charge. Cell-line studies revealed that CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs exhibited excellent biocompatibility in J774.2 and decreased cell viability in DLD-1, HT-29, and MCF7 cell lines. More cell internalization was seen in HT-29 and MCF7 due to overexpression of the OCTN2 and ATB0,+ transporter (CE transporters) compared to DLD-1. The cell cycle profile, reactive oxygen species, apoptosis, and mitochondrial membrane potential assays were performed to explore the chemo-preventive mechanism of CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs. Moreover, the in-silico docking studies revealed enhanced interactive behavior of CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs, thereby proving their targeting ability. All the findings suggested that CE-IHP@Tr*Pe-Ch-NPs could be a promising drug delivery approach for colon cancer targeting.

Breast Cancer (BC) is the most prevalent type of cancer in the world. Current treatments include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy but often are associated with high toxicity to normal tissues, chemoresistance, and relapse. Thus, developing novel therapies which could combat these limitations is essential for effective treatment. In this context, phytochemicals are increasingly getting popular due to their safety profile, ability to efficiently target tumors, and circumvent limitations of existing treatments. Essential Oils (EOs) are mixtures of various phytochemicals which have shown potential anticancer activity in preclinical BC models. However, their clinical translation is limited by factors such as high volatility, low stability, and poor solubility. Nanotechnology has facilitated their encapsulation in a variety of nanostructures and proven to overcome these limitations. In this review, we have efficiently summarized the current knowledge on the anticancer effect of EOs and constituents in both in in vitro and in in vivo BC models. Further, we also provide a descriptive account on the potential of nanotechnology in enhancing the anti-BC activity of EOs and their constituents. The papers discussed in this review were selected using the keywords "antiproliferative Essential Oils in breast cancer," "anticancer activity of Essential Oil in breast cancer," and "cytotoxicity of Essential Oils in breast cancer" performed in PubMed and ScienceDirect databases.

BACKGROUND: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer and exhibits high rate of chemoresistance, metastasis, and relapse. This can be attributed to the failure of conventional therapeutics to target a sub-population of slow cycling or quiescent cells called as cancer stem cells (CSCs). Therefore, elimination of CSCs is essential for effective TNBC treatment. PURPOSE: Research suggests that breast CSCs exhibit elevated glycolytic metabolism which directly contributes in maintenance of stemness, self-renewability and chemoresistance as well as in tumor progression. Therefore, this study aimed to target rewired metabolism which can serve as Achilles heel for CSCs population and have far reaching effect in TNBC treatment. METHODS: We used two preclinical models, zebrafish and nude mice to evaluate the fate of nanoparticles as well as the therapeutic efficacy of both piperlongumine (PL) and its nanomedicine (PL-NPs). RESULTS: In this context, we explored a phytochemical piperlongumine (PL) which has potent anti-cancer properties but poor pharmacokinetics impedes its clinical translation. So, we developed PLGA based nanomedicine for PL (PL-NPs), and demonstrated that it overcomes the pharmacokinetic limitations of PL, along with imparting advantages of selective tumor targeting through Enhanced Permeability and Retention (EPR) effect in zebrafish xenograft model. Further, we demonstrated that PL-NPs efficiently inhibit glycolysis in CSCs through inhibition of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) by modulating glutathione S-transferase pi 1 (GSTP1) and upregulation of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1 (FBP1), a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis. We also illustrated that inhibition of glycolysis results in overall tumor regression in two preclinical models. CONCLUSION: This study discusses novel mechanism of action by which PL acts on CSCSs. Taken together our study provides insight into development of PL based nanomedicine which could be exploited in clinics to achieve complete eradication of TNBC by targeting CSCs.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: First metatarsophalangeal joint sprains or turf toe (TT) injuries occur secondary to forceful hyperextension of the great toe. TT injuries are common among athletes, especially those participating in football, soccer, basketball, dancing, and wrestling. This review summarizes the current treatment modalities, rehabilitation protocols, and return-to-play criteria, as well as performance outcomes of patients who have sustained TT injuries. RECENT FINDINGS: Less than 2% of TT injuries require surgery, but those that do are typically grade III injuries with damage to the MTP joint, evidence of bony injury, or severe instability. Rehabilitation protocols following non-operative management consist of 3 phases lasting up to 10 weeks, whereas protocols following operative management consist of 4 phases lasting up 20 weeks. Athletes with low-grade injuries typically achieve their prior level of performance. However, among athletes with higher grade injuries, treated both non-operatively and operatively, about 70% are expected to maintain their level of performance. The treatment protocol, return-to-play criteria, and overall performance outcomes for TT injuries depend on the severity and classification of the initial sprain. For grade I injuries, players may return to play once they experience minimal to no pain with normal weightbearing, traditionally after 3-5 days. For grade II injuries, or partial tears, players typically lose 2-4 weeks of play and may need additional support with taping when returning to play. For grade III injuries, or complete disruption of the plantar plate, athletes lose 4-6 weeks or more depending upon treatment strategy.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) harbors a high percentage of breast cancer stem-like cells (BCSCs) that significantly contribute to poor prognosis, metastasis, and relapse of the disease. Thus, targeting BCSCs could be a promising approach to combat TNBC. In this context, we investigated nimbolide (Nim), a limonoid triterpenoid that has potent anticancer properties, but poor pharmacokinetics and low bioavailability limit its therapeutic application. So, to enhance the therapeutic potential of Nim, Nim-encapsulated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (Nim NPs) were formulated and the anticancer stem cell (CSC) effects evaluated in vitro and in vivo. In vitro studies suggested that Nim NPs significantly inhibited several inherent characteristics of BCSCs, such as stemness, self-renewability, chemoresistance, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and migration in comparison to native Nim. Next, the mechanism behind the anti-CSC effect of Nim was explored. Mechanistically, we found that Nim epigenetically restores tumor suppressor gene secreted frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) expression by downregulating DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), leading to Wnt/ß-catenin signaling inhibition. Further, in vivo results demonstrated that Nim NPs showed enhanced anti-tumor and anti-metastatic effects compared to native Nim in two preclinical models without any systemic toxicity. Overall, these findings provide proof of concept that Nim-based phytonanomedicine can inhibit BCSCs by epigenetic reprogramming of the DNMTs-SFRP1-Wnt/ß-catenin signaling axis.

INTRODUCTION: Although most patients with NAFLD are obese or overweight, some are lean with normal BMI. Our aim was to assess differences in clinicopathological profile and liver disease severity among lean and non-lean NAFLD. METHODS: Data of 1040 NAFLD patients over last 10 years was analysed. BMI < 23 kg/m2 categorised lean patients. Non-invasive assessment of steatosis was done by ultrasound and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) while fibrosis was assessed with FIB-4 and liver stiffness measurement (LSM). FibroScan-AST (FAST) score was used for non-invasive prediction of NASH with significant fibrosis. Histology was reported using NASH-CRN system. RESULTS: 149 (14.3%) patients were lean while 891 (85.7%) patients were non-lean. Diabetes mellitus [25 (16.7%) vs 152 (17.05%), p > 0.99], elevated triglycerides [81 (54.3%) vs 525 (58.9%), p = 0.33] and low HDL [71(47.6%) vs 479(53.7%), p = 0.18] were observed in a similar proportion. Lean patients were less likely to have central obesity [72 (48.3%) vs 788 (88.4%), p < 0.001], hypertension [16 (10.7%) vs 239(26.8%), p < 0.001] and metabolic syndrome [21 (14.09%) vs 290 (32.5%), p < 0.001]. No difference in steatosis assessment was noted using ultrasound (p = 0.55) or CAP (0.11). FAST [0.38 (0.18-0.66) vs 0.39 (0.27-0.73), p = 0.53], FIB-4 [1.08 (0.65-1.91) vs 1.09 (0.66-1.94), p = 0.94] and LSM [6.1 (4.8-7.9) vs 6.2 (4.7-8.6), p = 0.19) were similar. Liver biopsy was available in 149 patients [lean: 19 (12.7%), non-lean: 130 (87.3%)]. There was no difference in the number of patients with NASH [4 (21.05%) vs 20 (15.3%), p = 0.51], significant fibrosis [2 (10.5%) vs 32 (24.6%), p = 0.25] or advanced fibrosis [1 (5.26%) vs 18 (13.84%), p = 0.47]. CONCLUSION: Although metabolic co-morbidities are less common, there is no difference in liver disease severity among both groups.

Polysaccharide-based nanoparticles (NPs) such as pectin/ chitosan (PN/CN) had always been of greatest interest because of their excellent solubility, biocompatibility, and higher suitability for oral drug delivery. This study employed blending-crosslinking of polymers (PN&CN) followed by emulsification-solvent evaporation to prepare and compare two sets of PEGylated NPs to deliver phytic acid (IP6) to colon orally as it has potential to manage colon cancer but fails to reach colon when ingested in pure form. The first set was crosslinked with Glutaraldehyde (GE) (GE*PN-CN-NPs) while the second set was crosslinked with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) (TPP*PN-CN-NPs). IP6-loaded-GE/TPP*PN-CN-NPs were optimized using a central composite design. Developed TPP*PN-CN-NPs had a smaller size (210.6 ± 7.93 nm) than GE*PN-CN-NPs (557.2 ± 5.027 nm). Prepared NPs showed <12% IP6 release at pH 1.2 whereas >80% release was observed at pH 7.4. Further, NPs were explored for cytocompatibility in J774.2 cell lines, cytotoxicity, and cellular uptake in HT-29 and DLD-1 cell lines. While exhibiting substantial cytotoxicity and cellular uptake in HT-29 and DLD-1, the NPs were deemedsafe in J774.2. The PEGylated-TPP*PN-CN-NPs showed time-dependent uptake in J774.2 cell lines. Conclusively, the employed NP development method successfully delivered IP6 to colon and may also open avenues for the oral delivery of other drugs to colon.

KEY MESSAGE: RbIDL1 and RbIDL4 are up-regulated in an ethylene-responsive manner during rose petal abscission and restored the Arabidopsis ida-2 mutant abscission defect suggesting functional conservation of the IDA pathway in rose. Abscission is an ethylene-regulated developmental process wherein plants shed unwanted organs in a controlled manner. The INFLORESCENCE DEFICIENT IN ABSCISSION family has been identified as a key regulator of abscission in Arabidopsis, encoding peptides that interact with receptor-like kinases to activate abscission. Loss of function ida mutants show abscission deficiency in Arabidopsis. Functional conservation of the IDA pathway in other plant abscission processes is a matter of interest given the discovery of these genes in several plants. We have identified four members of the INFLORESCENCE DEFICIENT IN ABSCISSION-LIKE family from the ethylene-sensitive, early-abscising fragrant rose, Rosa bourboniana. All four are conserved in sequence and possess well-defined PIP, mIDa and EPIP motifs. Three of these, RbIDL1, RbIDL2 and RbIDL4 show a three-fourfold increase in transcript levels in petal abscission zones (AZ) during ethylene-induced petal abscission as well as natural abscission. The genes are also expressed in other floral tissues but respond differently to ethylene in these tissues. RbIDL1 and RbIDL4, the more prominently expressed IDL genes in rose, can complement the abscission defect of the Arabidopsis ida-2 mutant; while, promoters of both genes can drive AZ-specific expression in an ethylene-responsive manner even in Arabidopsis silique AZs indicating recognition of AZ-specific and ethylene-responsive cis elements in their promoters by the abscission machinery of rose as well as Arabidopsis.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the status of brain tumor programs in Asia and Africa and propose comprehensive evidence-based short- and long-term measures for improving the existing systems. METHODS: A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in June 2022 by the Asia-Africa Neurosurgery Collaborative. A 27-item questionnaire was designed and distributed to gain insight into the status and future directions of brain tumor programs in Asia and Africa. Six components of brain tumor programs were identified-surgery, oncology, neuropathology, research, training, and finances-and assigned scores of 0-14. The total scores allowed subclassification of each country into levels of brain tumor program from I to VI. RESULTS: A total of 110 responses from 92 countries were received. These were subdivided into 3 groups: group 1, countries with response from neurosurgeons (73 countries); group 2, countries with no neurosurgeons (19 countries); and group 3, countries without a neurosurgeon response (16 countries). The components associated with the highest level of brain tumor program were surgery, neuropathology, and oncology. Most countries in both continents had level III brain tumor programs with a mean surgical score of 2.24. The major lag between each group was with respect to the advances in neuropathology and financial support. CONCLUSIONS: There is an urgent need to improve and develop existing and nonexistent neuro-oncology infrastructure, personnel, and logistics in countries across the continents, especially for the countries with no neurosurgeons.

The inadequate information about the in vivo pathological, physiological, and neurological impairments, as well as the absence of in vivo tools for assessing brain penetrance and the efficiency of newly designed drugs, has hampered the development of new techniques for the treatment for variety of new central nervous system (CNS) diseases. The searching sites such as Science Direct and PubMed were used to find out the numerous distinct tracers across 16 CNS targets including tau, synaptic vesicle glycoprotein, the adenosine 2A receptor, the phosphodiesterase enzyme PDE10A, and the purinoceptor, among others. Among the most encouraging are [18 F]FIMX for mGluR imaging, [11 C]Martinostat for Histone deacetylase, [18 F]MNI-444 for adenosine 2A imaging, [11 C]ER176 for translocator protein, and [18 F]MK-6240 for tau imaging. We also reviewed the findings for each tracer's features and potential for application in CNS pathophysiology and therapeutic evaluation investigations, including target specificity, binding efficacy, and pharmacokinetic factors. This review aims to present a current evaluation of modern positron emission tomography tracers for CNS targets, with a focus on recent advances for targets that have newly emerged for imaging in humans.

Diversifying the future cancer research workforce requires that students engage in cancer research, persist in paths toward science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) fields, and choose cancer research careers. The Summer Clinical Oncology Research Experience (SCORE) Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering, designed in 2010 to engage undergraduate (U) and post-baccalaureate (PB) students from diverse backgrounds in cancer research, is an 8-week summer program pairing an U or PB student with a faculty mentor to conduct cancer research. We report demographics and career paths for 2010-2019 SCORE students. Of 116 students, 112 (97%) attended public universities, and 75 (64%) were in their first 2 years of college. Race/ethnicity was Black/African American, 20 (17%); Hispanic/Latinx, 15 (13%); multiracial, five (4%); Asian, 40 (34%); White/Caucasian, 36 (31%). A total of 112 (97%) identified as female; 47 (41%) were first-generation college students, and 85 (73%) were from immigrant families. As of 2021, 114 (98%) persisted in paths toward STEMM careers: 44 (38%) medical school (MS) students, 14 (12%) residents, two (2%) practicing physicians, 12 (10%) pursuing non-MD STEMM advanced degrees, 21 (18%) working in non-MD STEMM fields, 17 (15%) applying to MS, and 4 (3%) U science majors. Cancer research participation significantly increased from 5% pre- to 84% post-SCORE. A total of 63/116 (54%) students subsequently co-authored 152 peer-reviewed publications, including 105 (69%) in oncology. SCORE engaged underrepresented U and PB students in cancer research, and 98% of these students persisted in paths toward STEMM careers. Long-term follow-up is needed to assess the enduring engagement of these underrepresented students in cancer research.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a joint ailment with multi-factorial immune-mediated degenerative pathogenesis, including genetic and environmental defects. Resistance to disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) happens due to excessive drug efflux over time, rendering the concentration insufficient to elicit a response. Thymoquinone (TQ) is a quinone-based phenolic compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities that downregulate numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, its pharmaceutical importance and therapeutic utility are underexplored due to intrinsic physicochemical characteristics such as inadequate biological stability, short half-life, low hydrophilicity, and less systemic availability. Tamanu oil-stabilised nanostructured lipid carriers (TQ-NLCs) were prepared and optimised using Box-Behnken design (BBD) with the size of 153.9 ± 0.52 nm and surface charge of -30.71 mV. The % entrapment efficiency and drug content were found to be 84.6 ± 0.50% and 14.75 ± 0.52%, respectively. Furthermore, the TQ-loaded NLCs (TQ-NLCs) assayed for skin permeation for transdermal delivery which significantly (p < 0.05) increased skin enhancement ratio 14.6 times compared to the aqueous solution of TQ. Tamanu oil displayed the synergistic anti-inflammatory potential with TQ in comparison to pure TQ, as evidenced against carrageenan (CRG)-induced paw oedema model and Freund's adjuvant-induced arthritic model. The arthritic and X-ray scores significantly (p < 0.05) reduced in TQ-NLCs and standard formulation-treated groups. Moreover, serum pro-inflammatory marker TNF-α and IL-6 levels were also significantly (p < 0.05) reduced in TQ-NLCs gel-treated group compared to the arthritic control group.

Some breast cancers are caused by hormonal imbalances, such as estrogen and progesterone. These hormones play a function in directing the growth of cancer cells. The hormone receptors in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer lead breast cells to proliferate out of control. Cancer therapy such as hormonal, targeted, radiation is still unsatisfactory because of these challenges namely multiple drug resistance (MDR), off-targeting, severe adverse effects. A novel aromatase inhibitor exemestane (Exe) exhibits promising therapy in breast cancer. This study aims to develop and optimize Exe-loaded lipid nanocapsules (LNCs) by using DSPC, PF68 and olive oil as lipid, surfactant and oil phase, respectively and to characterize the same. The prepared nanocapsules were investigated via in vitro cell culture and in vivo animal models. The LNCs exhibited cytotoxicity in MCF-7 cell lines and enhanced anti-cancer activity and reduced cardiotoxicity in DMBA-induced animal model when compared to the drug. Additionally, in vivo pharmacokinetics revealed a 4.2-fold increased oral bioavailability when compared with Exe suspension. This study demonstrated that oral administration of Exe-loaded LNCs holds promise for the antiestrogenic activity of exemestane in breast cancer.

Meckel's diverticulum is a true diverticulum of the alimentary tract occurring resulting from the persistence of remnants of the vitello-intestinal duct. They are often asymptomatic and incidentally diagnosed during surgery. Complications such as intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, intestinal haemorrhage and perforation may occur with Meckel's diverticulum, which renders them symptomatic. The clinical and imaging diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum is very challenging. As a result of the rare occurrence of complicated Meckel's diverticulum and the difficult preoperative diagnosis, knowledge of its imaging features is limited. The presented case series describes a spectrum of complications caused by Meckel's diverticulum and its CT imaging features. It highlights the importance of a high clinical suspicion by carefully searching for a Meckel's diverticulum on CT in its characteristic location to avoid missing it preoperatively.

This study was designed to create surface-functionalized bosutinib liposomes that could be used for the management of estrogen-positive cancers. The novelty of this work was the anti-cancer activity of bosutinib-loaded liposomes (Bos-LPs) in estrogen-positive cancer via estrogen response elements, responsible for the malignancy of cancer cells. Biotin effectively delivers active moiety to tumor tissues because it interacts with the biotin receptor and operates through the Sodium-dependent multivitamin transporters (SMVT) transporter. The prepared liposomes had a 257.73 ± 4.50 nm particle size, - 28.07 ± 5.81 mV zeta potential, 87.78 ± 1.16 % encapsulation efficiency and 85.56 ± 0.95 % drug release for 48 h. The surface architecture of biotin-modified bosutinib-loaded liposomes (b-Bos-LPs) was confirmed using scanning electron and transmission electron microscopies. In-vitro experiments revealed that b-Bos-LPs outperformed Bos and Bos-LPs in terms of significantly reduced cell viability in MCF-7 cells. According to biodistribution and pharmacokinetic studies, b-Bos-LPs have a higher Bos concentration in tumor tissues as compared to the other organs and also possess better pharmacokinetic activity, indicating that they can be used to treat carcinogen-induced estrogen-positive cancers. This is the first study to show that b-Bos-LPs can display activity against estrogen-positive cancer via biotin targeting. As evidenced by various parameters, b-Bos-LPs showed improved anticancer targeting, therapeutic safety and efficacy in carcinogen-induced estrogen-positive cancer. The receptor protein estrogen, which is primarily responsible for this cancer was downregulated by b-Bos-LPs in an immunoblotting assay. The results showed that biotinylated distearoylphosphatidylcholine (DSPC) augmented LPs loaded with Bosutinib can cause apoptosis in estrogen-positive breast cancer and be an effective way to treat estrogen-positive cancer.
