RESUMO

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare tumor that affects elderly individuals and presents a poor prognosis. Skin is the most common site of involvement, accounting for 89% of the cases. Extracutaneous organs, especially bone marrow, lymph nodes, and peripheral blood, can be involved at the time of diagnosis. We report a case of BPDCN in a child, presenting with a cutaneous lesion mimicking lymphoma or leukemia cutis. The histologic findings revealed a dense diffuse infiltration by monomorphic agranular medium-sized blast cells with sparing of the grenz zone, whose first immunophenotypic profile raised the possibility of diagnosing B lymphoblastic lymphoma or leukemia. However, the absence of CD10 expression and strongly positive expression for CD4, CD56, CD45RA, and the plasmacytoid dendritic cell-associated antigens, including CD123, supported the definite diagnosis of BPDCN. The patient responded well to a systemic combination chemotherapy regimen, modified from the Associazione Italiana Ematologia Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP) protocol for anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), that differed from the established recommendation using ALL protocol. Owing to the patient's excellent treatment outcome, this regimen could represent an effective alternative regimen for BPDCN in children.

RESUMO

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer with globally increasing incidence. To date, the information regarding BCC in Thailand is limited. Our aim was to evaluate the demographic, clinical, histopathological trends of BCC and other contributing factors. We retrospectively reviewed the demographic, clinical and histological data of all BCC outpatients from January 2009 to December 2018. From 278 BCC patients recruited to this study, most of them (71.6%) were older than 60 years old. The most common histological subtype was nodular BCC (63.3%). A statistically significant association was observed between histological variant and location of the tumor; H and M area were associated with nodular BCC; L area was related to superficial subtype (P<0.001). Misdiagnosis of BCC was observed in 53 cases, mostly as melanocytic nevus (30.2%), and about quarter (26.4%) was made by board-certified dermatologists. Nodular BCC is significantly associated with H and M area, while superficial subtype is related to L location. Quarter of the patients already have large tumors at their first presentation. Misdiagnosis of BCC is not uncommon.

RESUMO

Abstract Peanut shell (PS) which is an excessive waste-product from agricultural processes, it can be recycled to a natural adsorbent for example it uses as removal dyes. Synthetic dye effluent without improperly discharged from industries to the river cause wastewater and damage to living organisms, especially, anionic dyes are difficult removed by conventional treatments such as biological, chemical, oxidation, and physical-filtration. However, an adsorption treatment is widely used for decolorization of dyes and give the best results for removal of various types of dissolved coloring materials. This research was used Eosin Y (EO) for the anionic model of dyeing wastewater and used PS for agrowaste adsorbent. The purpose of this study was investigated the efficiency adsorption of EO removal by PS. This efficiency adsorption was measured by different PS dosages, contact times, adsorbate concentration and equilibrium data. The results can be concluded that the PS had the efficiency adsorption of EO removal due to the equilibrium adsorption capacity (qe) and the highest dose of PS were balanced to adsorption of dye. The highest EO removal percentage was found in 87.7%, the qe was 0.351 mg g-1 and can adsorb from 10 mg L-1 to 1.23 mg L-1 in 25 g L-1 of PS dose at 30 minutes. In addition, the PS structure was found in multi-layer and many porous which is suitable for adsorbent. The morphological examination of PS was shown before and after adsorption that not changed. Therefore, PS might be an alternative choice for removal dye, and be used for the recycle adsorbent agrowaste as a commercial product for adding their values.

RESUMO

Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare hamartoma that usually affects childhood and adolescence. In this report we describe a typical onset and clinical presentation of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma. Histopathological analysis and immunohistochemical staining of the sections were done to confirm the diagnosis.

RESUMO

Congenital self-healing reticulohistiocytosis, also known as Hashimoto-Pritzker disease, is a single system Langerhans cell histiocytosis that typically presents in healthy newborns and spontaneously regresses. In the present report, we described a 2-month-old Thai female newborn with multiple hypopigmented flat-topped papules without any internal organ involvement including normal blood cell count, urinary examination, liver and renal functions, bone scan, chest X-ray, abdominal ultrasound, and bone marrow biopsy. The histopathology revealed typical findings of Langerhans cell histiocytosis, which was confirmed by the immunohistochemical staining CDla and S100. Our patient's lesions had spontaneously regressed within afew months, and no new lesion recurred afterfour months follow-up.
