There is an urgent need to fully understand the biology of third generation EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), particularly osimertinib, and to develop mechanism-driven strategies to manage their acquired resistance. Transient receptor potential melastatin-2 (TRPM2) functions as an important regulator of Ca2+ influx, but its role in mediating therapeutic efficacies of EGFR-TKIs and acquired resistance to EGFR-TKIs has been rarely studied. This study has demonstrated a previously undiscovered role of suppression of TRPM2 and subsequent inhibition of Ca2+ influx and induction of ROS and DNA damage in mediating apoptosis induction and the therapeutic efficacy of osimertinib against EGFR mutant NSCLC. The rebound elevation represents a key mechanism accounting for the emergence of acquired resistance to osimertinib and other third generation EGFR-TKIs. Accordingly, targeting TRPM2 is a potentially promising strategy for overcoming and preventing acquired resistance to osimertinib, warranting further study in this direction including the development of cancer therapy-optimized TRPM2 inhibitors.

This study aimed to explore the moderating role of socioeconomic status (SES) in the association between multimorbidity and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among cancer patients in Anhui China. A total of 560 cancer patients were recruited for the cross-section study. Socio-demographic and clinical characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Tobit regression analysis was employed to investigate the relationship between multimorbidity and HRQOL as well as to assess the moderating effect of SES. The research findings indicated that 76.61% of cancer patients experienced multimorbidity, with psychological multimorbidity being the most prevalent (45.54%), followed by physical-psychological multimorbidity (20.89%). Moreover, physical-psychological multimorbidity had the most substantial adverse effect on HRQOL (P < .001). The presence of multimorbidity was correlated with a significant decline in HRQOL, with a 17.5% (P < .001) decrease in HRQOL for each additional multimorbidity. Additionally, SES played a significant role in moderating the impact of multimorbidity on HRQOL in cancer patients. (Marginal effect = -0.022, P < .01). The high SES group exhibited a higher overall HRQOL than the low SES group (Marginal effect = 0.068, P < .001). And with the increase of multimorbidity, HRQOL in the higher SES showed a more pronounced downward trend, compared with the lower SES (ß = -.270 vs ß = -.201, P < .001). Our findings underscore the importance of preventing and managing multimorbidity in cancer patients, particularly those with low SES. Furthermore, it is essential to consider the impact of the rapid decline in HRQOL as the number of multimorbidity increases in individuals with higher SES. It is imperative to explore interdisciplinary and continuous collaborative management models.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the relationship between nocturnal levels of stress-related hormones and different sleep-wake states in chronic insomnia disorder (CID) patients. METHODS: Thirty-three CID patients and 34 good sleepers were enrolled and completed assessment of sleep log, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Insomnia Severity Index. During a-overnight polysomnography monitoring, the patients' vein bleeds were continually collected at different time points (pre-sleep, deep-sleep, 5-min or 30-min waking, and morning waking-up). The control subjects' bleeds were collected only at 22:00 and morning waking-up. The serum hormones were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: Compared with at pre-sleep, the level of cortisol was significantly higher at morning waking-up respectively in two-group subjects (Ps < 0.001), with insignificant inter-group differences in cortisol, corticotropin releasing hormone and copeptin at the two time-points. In the patients, the nocturnal secretion curves of three hormones were similar, with the highest concentration at morning waking-up, followed by 30-min waking, 5-min waking, pre-sleep, and deep-sleep. The patients' cortisol (Z = 79.192, P < 0.001) and copeptin (Z = 12.333, P = 0.015) levels were statistically different at different time-points, with higher cortisol at morning waking-up relative to deep-sleep, pre-sleep and 5-min waking (Ps < 0.05), and at 30-min waking relative to deep-sleep and pre-sleep (Ps < 0.05), and higher copeptin at morning waking-up relative to deep-sleep (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In CID, the nocturnal wakes were instantaneously accompanied by high level, and deep sleep was accompanied by the lowest levels, of stress-related hormones, especially in cortisol, supporting the insomniac hypothesis of increased nocturnal pulse-release of cortisol.

Development of effective strategies to manage the inevitable acquired resistance to osimertinib, a third-generation EGFR inhibitor for the treatment of EGFR-mutant (EGFRm) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), is urgently needed. This study reports that DNA topoisomerase II (Topo II) inhibitors, doxorubicin and etoposide, synergistically decreased cell survival, with enhanced induction of DNA damage and apoptosis in osimertinib-resistant cells; suppressed the growth of osimertinib-resistant tumors; and delayed the emergence of osimertinib-acquired resistance. Mechanistically, osimertinib decreased Topo IIα levels in EGFRm NSCLC cells by facilitating FBXW7-mediated proteasomal degradation, resulting in induction of DNA damage; these effects were lost in osimertinib-resistant cell lines that possess elevated levels of Topo IIα. Increased Topo IIα levels were also detected in the majority of tissue samples from patients with NSCLC after relapse from EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment. Enforced expression of an ectopic TOP2A gene in sensitive EGFRm NSCLC cells conferred resistance to osimertinib, whereas knockdown of TOP2A in osimertinib-resistant cell lines restored their susceptibility to osimertinib-induced DNA damage and apoptosis. Together, these results reveal an essential role of Topo IIα inhibition in mediating the therapeutic efficacy of osimertinib against EGFRm NSCLC, providing scientific rationale for targeting Topo II to manage acquired resistance to osimertinib.

Patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) are at high risk of frailty, leading to reduced quality of life and survival. Diet is associated with frailty in the elderly through regulating inflammation. Thus, we hypothesized that dietary inflammatory potential (as assessed by dietary inflammatory index [DII]) might be associated with frailty in patients with CRC through regulating inflammatory biomarkers. A total of 231 patients with CRC were included in this cross-sectional study. Dietary intake was evaluated by 3-day, 24-hour dietary recalls, and frailty status was assessed in accordance with the Fried frailty criteria. Plasma inflammatory cytokines were determined in 126 blood samples. A total of 67 patients (29.0%) were frail, with significantly higher DII scores than nonfrail patients, accompanied with significantly increased interleukin-6 (IL-6) and decreased interleukin-10 (IL-10) concentrations. Each 1-point increase of DII was related to a 25.0% increased risk of frailty. IL-6 was positively correlated with frailty and DII, whereas IL-10 was negatively correlated. After adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, education level, smoking status, and energy, mediation analysis revealed that the association between DII and frailty was significantly mediated by IL-6 (average causal mediation effect [ACME], 0.052; 95% confidence interval, 0.020-0.087; P = .002) and IL-10 (ACME, 0.025; 95% confidence interval, 0.004-0.063; P = .016). The ρ values for the sensitivity measure at which estimated ACMEs were zero were 0.3 and -0.2 for IL-6 and IL-10, respectively. Therefore, a pro-inflammatory diet was associated with frailty in patients with CRC possibly in part by affecting circulating IL-6 and IL-10 concentrations.

BACKGROUND: How physical activity (PA) and different sleep traits and overall sleep pattern interact in the development of Parkinson's disease (PD) remain unknown. OBJECTIVE: To prospectively investigate the joint associations of PA and sleep pattern with risk of PD. METHODS: Included were 339,666 PD-free participants from the UK Biobank. Baseline PA levels were grouped into low (< 600 MET-mins/week), medium (600 to < 3000 MET-mins/week) and high (≥ 3000 MET-mins/week) according to the instructions of the UK Biobank. Healthy sleep traits (chronotype, sleep duration, insomnia, snoring, and daytime sleepiness) were scored from 0 to 5 and were categorized into "ideal sleep pattern" (≥ 3 sleep scores) and "poor sleep pattern" (0-2 sleep scores). Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of PD were estimated by Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS: During a median of 11.8 years of follow-up, 1,966 PD events were identified. The PD risk was lower in participants with high PA (HR = 0.73; 95% CI: 0.64, 0.84), compared to those with low PA; and participants with ideal sleep pattern also had a lower risk of PD (HR = 0.78; 95% CI: 0.69, 0.87), compared to those with poor sleep pattern. When jointly investigating the combined effect, participants with both high PA and ideal sleep pattern had the lowest risk of incident PD (HR = 0.55; 95% CI: 0.44, 0.69), compared to those with low PA and poor sleep pattern; notably, participants with high PA but poor sleep pattern also gained benefit on PD risk reduction (HR = 0.74; 95% CI: 0.55, 0.99). CONCLUSIONS: Both high PA and ideal sleep pattern were independently associated with lower risk of developing PD, and those with both high PA level and ideal sleep pattern had the lowest risk. Our results suggest that improving PA levels and sleep quality may be promising intervention targets for the prevention of PD.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to assess the impact of gamma knife radiosurgery on brainstem cavernous malformations (CMs). METHODS: A total of 85 patients (35 females; median age 41.0 years) who underwent gamma knife radiosurgery for brainstem CMs at our institute between 2006 and 2015 were enrolled in a prospective clinical observation trial. Risk factors for hemorrhagic outcomes were evaluated, and outcomes were compared across different margin doses. RESULTS: The pre-radiosurgery annual hemorrhage rate (AHR) was 32.3% (44 hemorrhages during 136.2 patient-years). The median planning target volume was 1.292 cc. The median margin and maximum doses were 15.0 and 29.2 Gy, respectively, with a median isodose line of 50.0%. The post-radiosurgery AHR was 2.7% (21 hemorrhages during 769.9 patient-years), with a rate of 5.5% within the first 2 years and 2.0% thereafter. The post-radiosurgery AHR for patients with margin doses of ≤13.0 Gy (n = 15), 14.0-15.0 Gy (n = 50), and ≥16.0 Gy (n = 20) was 5.4, 2.7, and 0.6%, respectively. Correspondingly, transient adverse radiation effects were observed in 6.7 (1/15), 10.0 (5/50), and 30.0% (6/20) of cases, respectively. An increased margin dose per 1 Gy (hazard ratio: 0.530, 95% CI: 0.341-0.826, p = 0.005) was identified as an independent protective factor against post-radiosurgery hemorrhage. Margin doses of ≥16.0 Gy were associated with improved hemorrhagic outcomes (hazard ratio: 0.343, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.157-0.749, p = 0.007), but an increased risk of adverse radiation effects (odds ratio: 3.006, 95% CI: 1.041-8.677, p = 0.042). CONCLUSION: The AHR of brainstem CMs decreased following radiosurgery, and our study revealed a significant dose-response relationship. Margin doses of 14-15 Gy were recommended. Further studies are required to validate our findings.

Electrolyte engineering is a fascinating choice to improve the performance of Li-rich layered oxide cathodes (LRLO) for high-energy lithium-ion batteries. However, many existing electrolyte designs and adjustment principles tend to overlook the unique challenges posed by LRLO, particularly the nucleophilic attack. Here, we introduce an electrolyte modification by locally replacing carbonate solvents in traditional electrolytes with a fluoro-ether. By benefit of the decomposition of fluoro-ether under nucleophilic O-related attacks, which delivers an excellent passivation layer with LiF and polymers, possessing rigidity and flexibility on the LRLO surface. More importantly, the fluoro-ether acts as "sutures", ensuring the integrity and stability of both interfacial and bulk structures, which contributed to suppressing severe polarization and enhancing the cycling capacity retention from 39 % to 78 % after 300 cycles for the 4.8 V-class LRLO. This key electrolyte strategy with comprehensive analysis, provides new insights into addressing nucleophilic challenge for high-energy anionic redox related cathode systems.

Chinese olive is a popular fruit with a long history of cultivation and consumption. As a fruit with edible, nutritional, and even medicinal value, the Chinese olive has attracted increased interest from both nutrition researchers and health-conscious consumers. Chinese olive is a rich nutrient source, including essential and non-essential amino acids, various fatty acids, organic acids, vitamins, microelements, and high-quality dietary fibers. It is also an important natural source of phytochemicals such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, and other bioactive compounds. The nutritional and phytochemical compounds obtained from the Chinese olive exhibit unique and potent biological activities, explaining its various benefits to human health, including anti-Helicobacter pylori, anti-influenza, anti-diabetes, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor effects, among others. This review focuses on recent studies on Chinese olives and aims to summarize the major advances in their nutritional value, phytochemical composition, health benefits, and practical applications. It provides a reference for further research on Chinese olives and their properties and the development of novel functional products.

Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) profoundly affects therapeutic responses and clinical outcomes. However, the widespread methods for assessing ITH based on genomic sequencing or pathological slides, which rely on limited tissue samples, may lead to inaccuracies due to potential sampling biases. Using a newly established multicenter breast cancer radio-multiomic dataset (n = 1474) encompassing radiomic features extracted from dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images, we formulated a noninvasive radiomics methodology to effectively investigate ITH. Imaging ITH (IITH) was associated with genomic and pathological ITH, predicting poor prognosis independently in breast cancer. Through multiomic analysis, we identified activated oncogenic pathways and metabolic dysregulation in high-IITH tumors. Integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses highlighted ferroptosis as a vulnerability and potential therapeutic target of high-IITH tumors. Collectively, this work emphasizes the superiority of radiomics in capturing ITH. Furthermore, we provide insights into the biological basis of IITH and propose therapeutic targets for breast cancers with elevated IITH.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of comprehensive nursing intervention on in vitro fertilization (IVF) and pregnancy outcomes in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). METHOD: A total of 130 patients with PCOS admitted to our hospital from April 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were evenly divided according to a random number table method. The control group received routine care for the patients, while the study group received comprehensive care for the patients. The IVF, pregnancy outcomes, negative emotional changes, serum and follicular fluid (FF) amyloid-related protein and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels of the 2 groups of patients were compared. RESULT: The data on IVF rate and pregnancy rate in the study group were significantly better than those in the control group (P < .05). The SAS and SDS scores of the study group patients after intervention were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < .05). After intervention, the levels of serum and FF amyloid associated protein and CRP in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < .05). CONCLUSION: Patients with PCOS who receive comprehensive care can increase their probability of IVF, improve their pregnancy outcomes, and have a positive significance in reducing negative emotions.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the incidence of air embolism (AE) related to CT-guided localization of pulmonary ground-glass nodules (GGNs) prior to video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). METHODS: The data of all patients who received CT-guided localization of GGNs before VATS from May 2020 to October 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 1395 consecutive patients with 1553 GGNs were enrolled. AEs occurred in seven patients (0.5%). In four of the seven patients with AE, the embolism was detected before the patients left the CT table and emergency treatments were carried out. Among them, one patient had chest tightness and unilateral limb dyskinesia, one patient had convulsions and transient loss of consciousness, and two patients had no definite clinical symptoms. After a short-term high-flow oxygen inhalation, the clinical symptoms of two patients with symptomatic AE disappeared and two patients with asymptomatic AE did not show any symptoms. In the remaining three patients with AE, the embolism were detected retrospectively when evaluating the images in the PACS for this study. Fortunately, these three patients never developed clinical symptoms related to AE. All seven patients with AE underwent VATS on the day of localization and all GGNs were successfully removed under the guidance of markers. CONCLUSION: The incidence of AE related to CT-guided localization of GGNs was 0.5%, which was significantly higher than expected. Post-localization whole thoracic CT should be performed and observed carefully so as to avoid missed AE and delayed treatment. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: The incidence of AE related to CT-guided localization of GGNs was 0.5%. In order to timely detect AE, whole thoracic CT scan rather than local CT in the lesion area should be performed after localization. A small amount of AE may be missed if the post- localization CT images are not carefully observed.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of bevacizumab (Bev) in reducing peritumoral brain edema (PTBE) after stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) for lung cancer brain metastases. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 44 patients with lung cancer brain metastases (70 lesions) who were admitted to our oncology and Gamma Knife center from January 2020 to May 2022. All patients received intracranial SRT and had PTBE. Based on treatment with Bev, patients were categorized as SRT + Bev and SRT groups. Follow-up head magnetic resonance imaging was performed to calculate PTBE and tumor volume changes. The edema index (EI) was used to assess the severity of PTBE. Additionally, the extent of tumor reduction and intracranial progression-free survival (PFS) were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The SRT + Bev group showed a statistically significant difference in EI values before and after radiotherapy (p = 0.0115), with lower values observed after treatment, but there was no difference in the SRT group (p = 0.4008). There was a difference in the distribution of EI grades in the SRT + Bev group (p = 0.0186), with an increased proportion of patients at grades 1-2 after radiotherapy, while there was no difference in the SRT group (p > 0.9999). Both groups demonstrated a significant reduction in tumor volume after radiotherapy (p < 0.05), but there was no difference in tumor volume changes between the two groups (p = 0.4089). There was no difference in intracranial PFS between the two groups (p = 0.1541). CONCLUSION: Bevacizumab significantly reduces the severity of PTBE after radiotherapy for lung cancer. However, its impact on tumor volume reduction and intracranial PFS does not reach statistical significance.

To explore the groundwater recharge rate and soybean growth dynamics under different groundwater depths, we conducted a field experiment with four groundwater depth treatments (1 m, D1; 2 m, D2; 3 m, D3; 4 m, D4) through the groundwater simulation system in 2021 and 2022 and explored the relationships between groundwater depth and groundwater recharge, irrigation, growth dynamics of soybean plants, and yield. We used the Logistic regression model to simulate the dynamics of soybean growth indices, including plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation. The results showed that compared with D1 treatment, the amount of groundwater recharge under D2, D3, and D4 treatments decreased by 81.1%, 96.8%, 97.5% and 80.7%, 96.7%, 97.3% in the two years, respectively. The groundwater in D1 treatment could meet water needs of soybean throughout the whole growth period, except that irrigation was needed in the sowing stage. The amount of irrigation under D1 treatment was decreased by 91.7%, 93.0%, 94.2%, and 90.9%, 92.9%, 94.0% in the two years, respectively, compared with D2, D3, D4 treatments. Among the four treatments, D1 treatment took the shortest time for entering the rapid growth stage and reach the maximum growth rate, which had the highest maximum growth rate. At the mature stage of soybean, the dry matter distribution ratio of stem in D1 treatment was the highest. D1 treatment promoted the translocation of post-flowering assimilates in soybean, and its post-flowering assimilate contribution to seeds increased by 15.5%, 16.2%, 32.6% and 45.5%, 48.7%, 63.3% in the two years, respectively, compared with D2, D3, D4 treatments. D1 treatment had the highest plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation, follo-wed by D4 treatment, while D3 treatment had the lowest. Soybean yield, number of pods per plant, number of grains per plant, and 100-grain weight all decreased and then increased with increasing groundwater depth, following an order of D1>D4>D2>D3. Soybean yield was significantly positively correlated with groundwater recharge, which was positively correlated with plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation. Our results indicated that the D1 treatment with adequate groundwater recharge increased plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation, coordinated the distribution and translocation of dry matter among all plant parts in the late soybean growth period, and ultimately achieved the highest yield. When groundwater depth was deep (D4), groundwater recharge was small. In such case, the growth and development status and yield of soybean could also reach a high level if there was sufficient water supply.

This study aimed to investigate the active ingredients and therapeutic mechanisms of Jingu Tongxiao Pill (JGTXP), a commonly used Chinese patent medicine, in treating osteoarthritis (OA) via network pharmacology analysis combined with experimental validation. First, we administered JGTXP to rat plasma and identified the candidate active compounds. Next, target prediction, protein-protein interaction, compound-target network construction, gene ontology (GO), and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analyses were conducted for JGTXP. Lastly, the network-derived key targets and pathways were validated in vitro and in vivo. Finally, we identified 106 compounds in JGTXP and 24 absorbed compounds in the rat plasma. Network analysis revealed that JGTXP interferes with OA mainly via regulating the inflammatory response, collagen catabolic process, and osteoclast differentiation, and the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway plays a pivotal role in these processes. Experimentally, JGTXP exerted potential protective effects on articular cartilage and inhibited expression of inflammatory mediators and collagen catabolism-related proteins, including interleukin 1 beta (IL-1ß), interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 3 and MMP13, in a papain-induced OA rat model. Consistently, mRNA expression levels of these factors and nitric oxide release were suppressed by JGTXP in an LPS-induced RAW 264.7 inflammation model. The reporter gene assay showed that JGTXP could reduce the transcriptional activity of NF-κB. Consecutive western blot analysis demonstrated that nuclear NF-κB p65, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) expression were inhibited while cytoplasmic NF-κB p65 was upregulated by JGTXP. Using a combination of chemical profiling, network pharmacology analysis, and experimental validation, we preliminarily clarified the active ingredients of JGTXP intervention for OA and demonstrated that JGTXP ameliorates OA, at least partially, by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Although the clinical efficacies of third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) such as osimertinib in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR-activating mutations are promising, drug-acquired resistance inevitably occurs whether they are used as first-line or second-line treatment. Therefore, managing the acquired resistance to third-generation EGFR-TKIs is crucial in the clinic for improving patient survival. Great efforts have been made to develop potentially effective strategies or regimens for the treatment of EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients after relapse following these TKIs therapies with the hope that patients will continue to benefit from treatment through overcoming acquired resistance. Although this approach, which aims to overcome drug-acquired resistance, is necessary and important, it is a passive practice. Taking preventive action early before disease progression to manage the unavoidable development of acquired resistance offers an equally important and efficient approach. We strongly believe that early preventive interventions using effective and tolerable combination regimens that interfere with the process of developing acquired resistance may substantially improve the outcomes of EGFR-mutant NSCLC treatment with third-generation EGFR-TKIs. Thus, this review focuses on discussing the scientific rationale and mechanism-driven strategies for delaying and even preventing the emergence of acquired resistance to third-generation EGFR-TKIs, particularly osimertinib.

The catalysis reaction mechanism at nano/atomic scale attracted intense attention in the past decades. However, most in situ characterization technologies can only reflect the average information of catalysts, which leads to the inability to characterize the dynamic changes of single nanostructures or active sites under operando conditions, and many micro-nanoscale reaction mechanisms are still unknown. The combination of in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) holder system with MEMS chips provides a solution for it, where the design and fabrication of MEMS chips are the key factors. Here, with the aid of finite element simulation, an ultra-stable heating chip was developed, which has an ultra-low thermal drift during temperature heating. Under ambient conditions within TEM, atomic resolution imaging was achieved during the heating process or at high temperature up to 1300 °C. Combined with the developed polymer membrane seal technique and nanofluidic control system, it can realize an adjustable pressure from 0.1 bar to 4 bar gas environment around the sample. By using the developed ultra-low drift gas reaction cells, the nanoparticle's structure evolution at atomic scale was identified during reaction.

SUMMARY: At present, the anatomical relationship the mid-portion of popliteus tendon complex (PTC) and the surrounding tissues is still unclear, especially its relationship to the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). It affected the anatomical reconstruction of the posterolateral complex (PLC) injury. A total of 30 cases of the adult human knee joint fixed with formalin were used. Sagittal sections were made in 14 knee joints by the P45 plastination technique and dissection of 16 cases of knee joints. The P45 section revealed that the popliteus muscle fascia ran superiorly over the posterior edge of the tibial intercondylar eminence, and turned forward to be integrated into the PCL. Laterally, near the posterior edge of the lateral tibial plateau, the popliteus tendon penetrates through the articular capsule (AC), where two dense fibrous bundles were given off upwards by the popliteus tendon: one was the ventral fiber bundle, which ran superiorly over the posterior edge of the tibial plateau and then moved forwards to connect with the lateral meniscus; the dorsal fibers bundle ascended directly and participated in the AC. Meanwhile, the popliteus muscle dissection showed that at the posterior edge of the platform of the lateral condyle of the tibia, at the tendon-muscle transition, the PTC and AC were anchored to PCL.


En la actualidad, la relación anatómica entre la porción media del complejo tendinoso poplíteo (CTP) y los tejidos circundantes aún no está clara, especialmente su relación con el ligamento cruzado posterior (LCP). Esto afecta la reconstrucción anatómica de la lesión del complejo posterolateral (LCP). Se utilizaron un total de 30 casos de articulaciones de rodillas humanas de individuos adultos fijadas con formalina. Se realizaron cortes sagitales en 14 articulaciones de rodilla mediante la técnica de plastinación P45 y disección de 16 casos de articulaciones de rodilla. La sección P45 reveló que la fascia del músculo poplíteo discurría superiormente sobre el margen posterior de la eminencia intercondílea tibial y giraba hacia delante para integrarse en el LCP. Lateralmente, cerca del margen posterior de la platillo tibial lateral, el tendón poplíteo penetra a través de la cápsula articular (CA), donde el tendón poplíteo desprendió hacia arriba dos haces fibrosos densos: uno era el haz de fibras ventral, que corría superiormente sobre el margen posterior de la meseta tibial y luego se movió hacia adelante para conectar con el menisco lateral; el haz de fibras dorsales ascendía directamente y participaba en la CA. Por su parte, la disección del músculo poplíteo mostró que en el margen posterior del platillo del cóndilo lateral de la tibia, en la transición tendón-músculo, el CTP y el AC estaban anclados al LCP.
