RESUMO

NLRC5, the largest member of the nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor (NLR) family, has been reported to participate in the regulation of immune function and is associated with chronic inflammatory diseases. However, the biological function of NLRC5 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been fully demonstrated. The aim of this study is to evaluate NLRC5 expression in the tumor tissues of HCC patients undergoing surgical treatment, assess its prognostic value, and explore its relationship with critical immune-related molecules within the tumor microenvironment. A total of 100 patients with hepatitis B virus-associated HCC receiving surgical treatment were enrolled in the study. Immunohistochemical results were obtained by scoring the intensity of cellular staining and the percentage of positive cells in the tissue sections. The association between NLRC5 expression levels and the main clinicopathological factors was analyzed by Chi-square test method. The prognostic values were analyzed by COX regression model and the Kaplan-Meier survival curve. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to assess the predictive performance of NLRC5 in postoperative patients with HCC. IHC showed that high expression of NLRC5 was observed in 67% of HCC tissue samples. Chi-square test showed that NLRC5 was a risk factor associated with tumor number, satellite nodule, and envelope invasion. Kaplan-Meier survival curves and COX survival analysis showed that high expression of NLRC5 was significantly associated with decreased overall survival (OS) in HCC patients (HR = 1.79, 95% CI 1.03-3.12, p = .041). However, univariate logistic regression analysis revealed that NLRC5 showed positive relationship with GZMB and CD8α suggesting its role in immune escape of HCC. ROC curve analysis showed that the combination of tumor number, envelope invasion, and NLRC5 expression (area under the curve = 0.824, sensitivity = 77.30%, specificity = 82.4%) can more accurately evaluate the prognosis of HCC patients compared to the combination of only tumor number and envelope invasion (area under the curve = 0.690, sensitivity = 43.9%, specificity = 94.1%).NLRC5 plays a crucial role in progression of HCC and can be considered as a potential prognostic and predictive biomarker. Targeting NLRC5 may provide an attractive therapeutic approach for HCC.

AIMS: Diagnostic separation of diandric triploid gestation, i.e. partial mole from digynic triploid gestation, is clinically relevant, as the former may progress to postmolar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. The aim of the study was to investigate if the combination of abnormal histology combined with ploidy analysis-based triploidy is sufficient to accurately diagnose partial mole. METHODS AND RESULTS: A genotype-phenotype correlation study was undertaken to reappraise histological parameters among 20 diandric triploid gestations and 22 digynic triploid gestations of comparable patient age, gestational weeks, and clinical presentations. Two villous populations, irregular villous contours, pseudoinclusions, and syncytiotrophoblast knuckles, were common in both groups. Villous size ≥2.5 mm, cistern formation, trophoblastic hyperplasia, and syncytiotrophoblast lacunae were significantly more common in the partial hydatidiform mole. Cistern formation had the highest positive predictive value (PPV) (93%) and highest specificity (96%) for diandric triploid gestation, although the sensitivity was 70%. Cistern formation combined with villous size ≥2.5 mm or trophoblast hyperplasia or syncytiotrophoblast lacunae had 100% specificity and PPV, but a marginal sensitivity of 60%-65%. A moderate interobserver agreement (Kappa = 0.57, Gwet's AC1 = 0.59) was achieved among four observers who assigned diagnosis of diandric triploid gestation or digynic triploidy solely based on histology. CONCLUSIONS: None of histological parameters are unique to either diandric triploid gestation or digynic triploid gestation. Cistern formation is the most powerful discriminator, with 93% PPV and 70% sensitivity for diandric triploid gestation. While cistern formation combined with either trophoblastic hyperplasia or villous size ≥2.5 mm or syncytiotrophoblast lacunae has 100% PPV and specificity for diandric triploid gestation, the sensitivity is only 60% to 65%. Therefore, in the presence of triploidy, histological assessment is unable to precisely classify 35% to 40% of diandric triploid gestations or partial moles.

Nitroreductase (NTR) is to be pivotal in the biodegradation of nitroaromatics. NTR is produced in tumor tissues under hypoxic conditions, which is one of the markers for early tumor diagnosis. In this study, a novel probe FD-NTR was developed for NTR detection. Probe FD-NTR can exhibit a specific reaction with NTR in the presence of NADH. The probe displayed satisfactory selectivity and sensitivity towards NTR with a calculated detection limit of 12 ng/mL. Under the conditions of low cytotoxic hypoxia, the FD-NTR probe has shown successful application in imaging both MCF-7 cells and tumor tissues, which indicated that the FD-NTR probe holds promising application prospects for detecting NTR in tumors.

Introduction. MYC overexpression is a known phenomenon in breast cancer. This study investigates the correlation of MYC gene copy number amplification and MYC protein overexpression with coexisting genetic abnormalities and associated clinicopathologic features in breast cancer patients. Methods. The study analyzed data from 81 patients with localized or metastatic breast cancers using targeted next-generation sequencing and MYC immunohistochemical studies, along with pathological and clinical data. Results. Applying the criteria of MYC/chromosome 8 ratio ≥5, MYC copy number amplified tumors (n = 11, 14%) were associated with invasive ductal carcinoma (91% vs 68%, P = .048), poorly differentiated (grade 3, 64% vs 30%, P = .032), mitotically active (Nottingham mitotic score 3, 71% vs 20%, P = .004), estrogen receptor (ER)-negative (45% vs 12%, P = .008), and triple-negative (56% vs 12%, P = .013) compared to MYC non-amplified tumors. Among MYC-amplified breast cancer patients, those with triple-negative status showed significantly shorter disease-free survival time than non-triple negative MYC-amplified patients (median survival month: 25.5 vs 127.6, P = .049). MYC amplification is significantly associated with TP53 mutation (P = .007). The majority (10 of 11; 91%) of MYC-amplified tumors showed positive c-MYC immunostaining. Conclusion. Breast cancers with MYC copy number amplication display distinct clinicopathologic characteristics indicative of more aggressive behavior.

Targeted anti-HER2 therapy has been recently added to the standard treatment recommendations in endometrial serous carcinoma. Current eligibility requires testing for HER2 overexpression and/or gene amplification by immunohistochemistry and by fluorescence in situ hybridization. However, clinical trials have also demonstrated the efficacy of anti-HER2 drugs against activating ERBB2/HER2 mutations in a variety of solid tumor types, and fam-trastuzumab deruxtecan is now approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for HER2-mutant non-small cell lung cancer. This study aimed at evaluating the detailed clinical, histomorphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular characteristics of gynecologic malignancies with ERBB2/HER2 mutations. We identified 16 tumors with 19 ERBB2/HER2 mutations in our departmental archives: 11 endometrial primaries, 2 endocervical adenocarcinomas, 1 ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma, 1 tubo-ovarian undifferentiated carcinoma, and 1 high-grade endometrioid adenocarcinoma of Mullerian origin. ERBB2/HER2 mutations most often involved the tyrosine kinase domain (52.6%), and the most frequent specific mutation was R678Q (31.6%), involving the juxtamembrane domain. More than half (54.5%) of endometrial carcinomas and half of all tumors were MMR-deficient, resulting from MSH6 loss in all but 2 tumors. None of the tumors (0%) were POLE-mutated, while 18.8% were TP53-mutated. HER2 IHC was negative (score 0 or 1+) in 12 tumors (67%) and equivocal (score 2+) in 4 tumors (33%), whereas none of the tumors were scored as HER2 3+. Score 2+ was associated with R678Q, L755S, I767M mutations, and ERBB2/HER2 rearrangement with a breakpoint in exon 23. Concurrent ERBB2/HER2 amplification was identified in 2 endometrial carcinomas, with HER2/CEP17 ratios of 3.1 and 3.5. We also queried the cBioportal database, which revealed 70 ERBB2/HER2-mutant gynecologic tumors with a total of 77 ERBB2/HER2 mutations, most often involving the active site of the tyrosine kinase domain (n=36; 46.8%), and the most common specific mutation was S310F (n=20; 26%), located in the extracellular domain. Our results provide important details regarding the clinicopathological and molecular associations of potentially actionable ERBB2/HER2 mutations in endometrial carcinoma and other gynecological cancer types and contribute to addressing clinical treatment needs and improving pathology testing recommendations in the future.

OBJECTIVES: Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of ovarian cyst fluid remains useful for certain clinical circumstances despite low sensitivity and potential safety concerns. The current study aimed to reevaluate the performance of ovarian cystic fluid cytology following American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidelines using a single-institution cohort. METHODS: A total of 507 ovarian cyst FNA cases from 2013 to 2023 were reviewed. Patients' demographics and clinical and radiologic information were collected through the electronic database. The performance was calculated using corresponding surgical pathology diagnosis as the gold standard. RESULTS: Overall, cytologic diagnoses were nondiagnostic (ND), negative for malignancy (NFM), atypical (ATY), suspicious for malignancy (SFM), and malignant (M) in 5 (1.0%), 478 (94.3%), 14 (2.7%), 2 (0.4%), and 8 (1.6%) cases, respectively. Among 349 specimens (68.8%) that had a corresponding surgical pathology, the rate of malignancy (including borderline tumors) was 1.2% (4 of 325) in NFM, 72.7% in ATY (8 of 11), and 100% in both SFM (2 of 2) and M (8 of 8) specimens. Considering NFM and ATY as negative results and SFM and M as positive results, overall, the sensitivity of ovarian cystic fluid cytology was 45.4% and the specificity was 100%. CONCLUSIONS: As an uncommon test, ovarian cystic fluid cytology has moderate sensitivity and high specificity. Despite limitations, ovarian cystic FNA cytology remains a valuable diagnostic tool in certain aspects.

Microplastics (MPs) have been found in remote high-altitude areas, but the main source and migration process remained unclear. This work explored the characteristics and potential sources of MPs in the Yarlung Tsangpo River Basin. The average abundances of MPs in water, sediment, and soil samples were 728.26 ± 100.53 items/m3, 43.16 ± 5.82 items/kg, and 61.92 ± 4.29 items/kg, respectively, with polypropylene and polyethylene as the main polymers. The conditional fragmentation model revealed that the major source of MPs lower than 4000 m was human activities, while that of higher than 4500 m was atmospheric deposition. Community analysis was further conducted to explore the migration process and key points of MPs among different compartments in the basin. It was found that Lhasa (3600 m) and Shigatse (4100 m) were vital sources of MPs inputs in the midstream and downstream, respectively. This work would provide new insights into the fate of MPs in high-altitude areas.

Polypeptide N-Acetylgalactosaminyl transferase 14 (GALNT14) plays important roles in cancer progression and chemotherapy response. Here, we show that GALNT14 is highly expressed in pancreatic ß cells and regulates ß cell function and growth. We found that the expression level of Ganlt14 was significantly decreased in the primary islets from three rodent type-2 diabetic models. Single-Cell sequencing defined that Galnt14 was mainly expressed in ß cells of mouse islets. Galnt14 knockout (G14KO) INS-1 cell line, constructed by using CRISPR/Cas9 technology were growth normal, but showed blunt shape, and increased basal insulin secretion. Combined proteomics and glycoproteomics demonstrated that G14KO altered cell-to-cell junctions, communication, and adhesion. Insulin receptor (IR) and IGF1-1R were indirectly confirmed for GALNT14 substrates, contributed to diminished IGF1-induced p-AKT levels and cell growth in G14KO cells. Overall, this study uncovers that GALNT14 is a novel modulator in regulating ß cells biology, providing a missing link of ß cells O-glycosylation to diabetes development.

Breast cancer is among the cancer types with the highest numbers of new cases. The study of this disease from a microscopic perspective has been a prominent research topic. Previous studies have shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) are closely linked to chromosomal instability (CIN). Correctly predicting CIN status from miRNAs can help to improve the survival of breast cancer patients. In this study, a joint global and local interpretation method called GL_XGBoost is proposed for predicting CIN status in breast cancer. GL_XGBoost integrates the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) methods. XGBoost is used to predict CIN status from miRNA data, whereas SHAP is used to select miRNA features that have strong relationships with CIN. Furthermore, SHAP's rich visualization strategies enhance the interpretability of the entire model at the global and local levels. The performance of GL_XGBoost is validated on the TCGA-BRCA dataset, and it is shown to have an accuracy of 78.57% and an area under the curve value of 0.87. Rich visual analysis is used to explain the relationships between miRNAs and CIN status from different perspectives. Our study demonstrates an intuitive way of exploring the relationship between CIN and cancer from a microscopic perspective.

BACKGROUND: Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology have unique advantages of rapid, simple, and highly sensitive in the detection of serum, it can be used for the detection of liver cancer. However, some protein biomarkers in body fluids are often present at ultra-low concentrations and severely interfered with by the high-abundance proteins (HAPs), which will affect the detection of specificity and accuracy in cancer screening based on the SERS immunoassay. Clearly, there is a need for an unlabeled SERS method based on low abundance proteins, which is rapid, noninvasive, and capable of high precision detection and screening of liver cancer. RESULTS: Serum samples were collected from 60 patients with liver cancer (27 patients with stage T1 and T2 liver cancer, 33 patients with stage T3 and T4 liver cancer) and 40 healthy volunteers. Herein, immunoglobulin and albumin were separated by immune sorption and Cohn ethanol fractionation. Then, the low abundance protein (LAPs) was enriched, and high-quality SERS spectral signals were detected and obtained. Finally, combined with the principal component analysis-linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA) algorithm, the SERS spectrum of early liver cancer (T1-T2) and advanced liver cancer (T3-T4) could be well distinguished from normal people, and the accuracy rate was 98.5% and 100%, respectively. Moreover, SERS technology based on serum LAPs extraction combined with the partial least square-support vector machine (PLS-SVM) successfully realized the classification and prediction of normal volunteers and liver cancer patients with different tumor (T) stages, and the diagnostic accuracy of PLS-SVM reached 87.5% in the unknown testing set. SIGNIFICANCE: The experimental results show that the serum LAPs SERS detection combined with multivariate statistical algorithms can be used for effectively distinguishing liver cancer patients from healthy volunteers, and even achieved the screening of early liver cancer with high accuracy (T1 and T2 stage). These results showed that serum LAPs SERS detection combined with a multivariate statistical diagnostic algorithm has certain application potential in early cancer screening.

Objectives: The study aims to explore the ocular biometry of a myopic population in Northern China, focusing specifically on anterior and posterior segment lengths. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. The medical records of 3458 myopic patients who underwent refractive surgery were evaluated. Axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT) and other biometric parameters were measured using the IOL Master 700. The study determined the anterior segment length (ASL = ACD + LT), the posterior segment length (PSL = AL - ASL) and the ratio of ASL to PSL (ASL/PSL). Results: This study included 3458 eyes from 3458 myopic patients (1171 men and 2287 women). The mean age was 27.38 ± 6.88, ranging from 16 to 48 years old. The mean ASL was 7.35 ± 0.27 mm, and the mean PSL was 18.39 ± 1.18 mm. The ASL and PSL trends demonstrate an age-related increase for both genders, with notable gender-specific variations. Across most age groups, males typically exhibited higher ASLs and PSLs than females, with the exception of the 35-40 and 40-45 age groups. The ASL and PSL consistently increased with a rising AL. The AL strongly correlates with the PSL and negatively correlates with the ASL/PSL ratio. The ACD and LT moderately correlate with the ASL, but an increased LT does not imply a longer posterior segment. The CCT and SE show little correlation with axial eye parameters. Conclusions: Among Chinese myopic patients, a longer ASL and PSL were correlated with older age and the male gender. The AL strongly correlates positively with the PSL and negatively correlates with the ASL/PSL ratio. An elongation of the posterior segment may primarily account for an eyeball's lengthening.

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) instruments are increasingly recognized as valuable tools for detecting trace metal elements due to their simplicity, rapid detection, and ability to perform simultaneous multi-element analysis. Traditional LIBS modeling often relies on empirical or machine learning-based feature band selection to establish quantitative models. In this study, we introduce a novel approach-simultaneous multi-element quantitative analysis based on the entire spectrum, which enhances model establishment efficiency and leverages the advantages of LIBS. By logarithmically processing the spectra and quantifying the cognitive uncertainty of the model, we achieved remarkable predictive performance (R2) for trace elements Mn, Mo, Cr, and Cu (0.9876, 0.9879, 0.9891, and 0.9841, respectively) in stainless steel. Our multi-element model shares features and parameters during the learning process, effectively mitigating the impact of matrix effects and self-absorption. Additionally, we introduce a cognitive error term to quantify the cognitive uncertainty of the model. The results suggest that our approach has significant potential in the quantitative analysis of trace elements, providing a reliable data processing method for efficient and accurate multi-task analysis in LIBS. This methodology holds promising applications in the field of LIBS quantitative analysis.

Osteoporotic bone defects cannot withstand surgery with more significant trauma due to bone fragility, while systemic drug therapy has formidable adverse effects. Consequently, the present study introduces an innovatively devised injectable double-crosslinked hydrogel, as a potential therapeutic avenue for addressing varied shapes of osteoporotic bone defects via a minimally invasive approach. The injectable hydrogel is formed by the formation of Schiff base bonds between oxidized sodium alginate (OSA) and carboxymethyl chitosan, and the polymerization of gelatin methacrylate by UV light crosslinking. Additionally, alendronate sodium (ALN) is loaded into the hydrogel through Schiff base formation with OSA, and nanohydroxyapatite (nHA) is incorporated into the hydrogel via blending. The hydrogel demonstrates excellent injectability, and the nHA improves the mechanical properties of hydrogel and can promote bone formation. In addition, the hydrogel can sustain the release of ALN, which has the effect of inhibiting osteoclasts. Cell studies indicate that the hydrogel can promote the differentiation of osteoblasts and inhibit the activity of osteoclast, so as to obtain better osteogenic effect. Therefore, the injectable hydrogel can be used to repair osteoporotic bone defects through a minimally invasive, simple treatment modality.

OBJECTIVE: Cytologic evaluation of the upper urinary tract (UUT) can be challenging due to instrumentation artefacts. This study retrospectively reviewed UUT specimens using The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytopathology, second edition (TPS 2.0), compared it with the original reporting system (ORS) and correlated it with histopathologic follow-up. METHODS: An institutional database was reviewed for the UUT biopsy/resection histopathologic specimens, and we included 52 UUT cytology specimens pertinent to these cases in the study. These specimens were blindly reviewed and reclassified using TPS 2.0. The correlation between TPS 2.0, ORS and histopathologic follow-up was assessed. RESULTS: The UUT cytology specimens corresponded to 21 (40.4%) high-grade urothelial carcinoma (HGUC), 27 (51.9%) low-grade urothelial carcinoma (LGUC) and 4 (7.7%) benign cases on follow-up. For HGGC cases, the associated TPS categories included unsatisfactory (n = 1, 4.8%), negative for HGUC (NHGUC; n = 3, 14.3%), atypical urothelial cells (AUC; n = 6, 28.6%), suspicious for HGUC (SHGUC; n = 3, 14.3%) and HGUC (n = 8, 38.1%), while ORS categorised the specimens as unsatisfactory (n = 1, 4.8%), negative for malignant cells (NFMC; n = 3, 14.3%), AUC (n = 5, 23.8%), low-grade urothelial carcinoma (LGUC; n = 0, 0%), SHGUC (n = 5, 23.8%) and HGUC (n = 7, 33.3%). The risks of high-grade malignancy among cytologic categories were similar between ORS and TPS (p > 0.05). The majority of LGUC were classified as AUC similarly by ORS and TPS (55.6% vs. 59.3%). CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated comparable performance between TPS 2.0 and ORS for UUT cytology specimens. Cytological diagnosis of UUT specimens remains challenging, especially for LGUC.

The incidence of breast cancer is increasing rapidly around the world. Accurate classification of the breast cancer subtype from hematoxylin and eosin images is the key to improve the precision of treatment. However, the high consistency of disease subtypes and uneven distribution of cancer cells seriously affect the performance of multi-classification methods. Furthermore, it is difficult to apply existing classification methods to multiple datasets. In this article, we propose a collaborative transfer network (CTransNet) for multi-classification of breast cancer histopathological images. CTransNet consists of a transfer learning backbone branch, a residual collaborative branch, and a feature fusion module. The transfer learning branch adopts the pre-trained DenseNet structure to extract image features from ImageNet. The residual branch extracts target features from pathological images in a collaborative manner. The feature fusion strategy of optimizing these two branches is used to train and fine-tune CTransNet. Experiments show that CTransNet achieves 98.29% classification accuracy on the public BreaKHis breast cancer dataset, exceeding the performance of state-of-the-art methods. Visual analysis is carried out under the guidance of oncologists. Based on the training parameters of the BreaKHis dataset, CTransNet achieves superior performance on other two public breast cancer datasets (breast-cancer-grade-ICT and ICIAR2018_BACH_Challenge), indicating that CTransNet has good generalization performance.

The juice exudation of aquatic products oozes out during storage can influence storage quality. Herein, a novel basil essential oil liposome unidirectional water-conducting sustained-release preservation pads (BEOL/UCSP) were prepared with nylon mesh as water-conducting layer, basil essential oil liposome (BEOL) as sustained-release preservation layer, and diatomite and absorbent-cotton as water-absorbing layer. EL/UCSP, ß-CL/UCSP, and BEO/UCSP were prepared after BEOL was replaced by eugenol liposome, ß-caryophyllene liposome, and BEO. BEOL are microspheres with bilayer structure, had good storage stability, centrifugal stability, thermal stability, embedding capacity, sustained-release, and oxidation resistance, and the main components of preservatives had a synergistic effect on antibacterial properties. The pads without preservative can initially slow down quality deterioration. BEOL/UCSP can directionally absorb exudate and realize long-term sustained-release of preservative, has excellent antibacterial and antioxidant effect, and extended shelf life of Lateolabrax japonicus fillets from 6.0 days to 12.8 days. The BEOL/UCSP can provide technical theoretical support for preservation materials.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are vital in the tumor microenvironment, contributing to immunosuppression and therapy tolerance. Despite their importance, the precise re-education of TAMs in vivo continues to present a formidable challenge. Moreover, the lack of real-time and efficient methods to comprehend the spatiotemporal kinetics of TAMs repolarization remains a significant hurdle, severely hampering the accurate assessment of treatment efficacy and prognosis. Herein, we designed a metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based Caspase-1 nanoreporter (MCNR) that can deliver a TLR7/8 agonist to the TAMs and track time-sensitive Caspase-1 activity as a direct method to monitor the initiation of immune reprogramming. This nanosystem exhibits excellent TAMs targeting ability, enhanced tumor accumulation, and stimuli-responsive behavior. By inducing the reprogramming of TAMs, they were able to enhance T-cell infiltration in tumor tissue, resulting in inhibited tumor growth and improved survival in mice model. Moreover, MCNR also serves as an activatable photoacoustic and fluorescent dual-mode imaging agent through Caspase-1-mediated specific enzyme digestion. This feature enables non-invasive and real-time antitumor immune activation monitoring. Overall, our findings indicate that MCNR has the potential to be a valuable tool for tumor immune microenvironment remodeling and noninvasive quantitative detection and real-time monitoring of TAMs repolarization to immunotherapy in the early stage.

The resection of malignant osteosarcoma often results in large segmental bone defects, and the residual cells can facilitate recurrence. Consequently, the treatment of osteosarcoma is a major challenge in clinical practice. The ideal goal of treatment for osteosarcoma is to eliminate it thoroughly, and repair the resultant bone defects as well as avoid bacterial infections. Herein, we fabricated a selenium/strontium/zinc-doped hydroxyapatite (Se/Sr/Zn-HA) powder by hydrothermal method, and then employed it with polycaprolactone (PCL) as ink to construct composite scaffolds through 3D printing, and finally introduced them in bone defect repair induced by malignant osteosarcoma. The resultant composite scaffolds integrated multiple functions involving anti-tumor, osteogenic, and antibacterial potentials, mainly attributed to the anti-tumor effects of SeO32-, osteogenic effects of Sr2+ and Zn2+, and antibacterial effects of SeO32- and Zn2+. In vitro studies confirmed that Se/Sr/Zn-HA leaching solution could induce apoptosis of osteosarcoma cells, differentiation of MSCs, and proliferation of MC3T3-E1 while showing excellent antibacterial properties. In vivo tests demonstrated that Se/Sr/Zn-HA could significantly suppress tumors after 8 days of injection, and the Se/Sr/Zn-HA-PCLs scaffold repaired femoral defects effectively after 3 months of implantation. Summarily, the Se/Sr/Zn-HA-PCLs composite scaffolds developed in this study were effective for tumor treatment, bone defect repair, and post-operative anti-infection, which provided a great potential to be a facile therapeutic material for osteosarcoma resection.
