RESUMO

In accordance with contemporary legislation, the article covers materials on specification and approbation of concept model for psychophysiologic examination in medical establishments during medical examination of workers engaged into production with raidation and nuclear danger. The authors defined methodology, examination methods and designed an order of psychophysiologic examination. The psychophysiologic examination and purpose-oriented rehabilitation appeared efficient.

RESUMO

Analysis of the results of clinicopsychological investigation of persons developing ARS (I-III degree of severity) as a result of the Chernobyl accident has shown that 4-6 mos. after the exposure the psychic status and mental working ability of the affected persons showed close correlation with a degree of ARS. In 12-18 mos. profession and adequate employment played a decisive role in the formation of unfavorable psychic conditions and limited working ability. Later on in 2.5-3 years after exposure a decrease in psychic working ability, the development of unfavorable psychic conditions was noted more frequently in patients with ARS of more severe types and in examinees of older age. At all stages of rehabilitation personality traits of the affected persons play an important role in the revival of working abilities.

RESUMO

The paper is devoted to the main stages of development of radiation clinical neurology, paying attention to the contribution of Soviet clinicians in the problem. Neurological disorders in ARS of various degrees of severity at different periods of disease as well as during irradiation at doses, not causing ARS development were described. The importance of clinicophysiological investigations for assessment of CNS function during the development of disease and its aftereffects was shown. The role of psychological investigations and studies on mental abilities of persons, exposed to acute ionizing radiation, was emphasized.

RESUMO

Overall 1,104 persons exposed to industrial radiation were examined for the effect of minor doses of ionizing radiation on the development of the initial forms of cerebrovascular diseases (CVD). Use was made of an original method of five-factorial screening prediction of the development of CVD. As a result of the examination, 603 persons (54.6%) made up a group at greater risk for cerebrovascular insufficiency. Arterial hypertension was found to be the leading risk factor while the age 45-49 years turned out most dangerous from the standpoint of the onset of the diseases under consideration. No relationship was established between the total dose of external radiation and the risk of the development of cerebrovascular disorders. 96 persons at greater risk for CVD were subjected to a thorough clinical and instrumental examination. Of these, 79.2% appeared to have initial manifestations of brain circulatory insufficiency and stage I dyscirculatory encephalopathy.

RESUMO

Cerebral hemodynamics was investigated on the basis of rheoencephalography findings in persons with ARD of various degrees of severity in the latent period and during rehabilitation. The data obtained showed correlation of cerebral hemodynamics and a degree of gravity of ARD and a period of development of disease. A decrease in pulse rate, a tendency to increased peripheral resistance and vein tone and an increased rate of cerebral dystonia were marked at the time of rehabilitation of patients with ARD, II-III degree.

RESUMO

Under neurological investigation were 113 patients with different degrees of severity of acute radiation disease (ARD). The patients were relatively evenly irradiated by beta- and gamma-rays as a result of CPP accident. The onset time and markedness of the signs of primary reaction were related to ARD severity. Early appearance of the signs of disturbances in the central nervous system functional state suggested a stronger affliction, malignant course and fatal outcome of the disease. Ii ARD patients with IV-th and III-rd degree of severity the syndromes observed were these: acute radiation encephalopathy immediately caused by the ionizing irradiation of the CNS, and a secondary radiation-toxic encephalopathy. The hemorrhagic lesioning of CNS and cerebral hemispheres were noted in terminal stages. In rehabilitation phases, neurasthenic and neurovascular syndromes appeared irrespective of the ARD severity.

RESUMO

The analysis of 4 examples of the development of various psychic states in patients having acute radiation sickness of minor degree during the rehabilitation period in 7-9 months following the disaster at the Chernobyl APS showed the correlation of disease outcome with a complex of psychological factors characteristic of the disaster and the disease itself, personality and occupational characteristics of those exposed before the disaster. The findings of the complex psychological study can be used for expert appraisal and forecast of health state, mental and work capacity of the patients, their professional fitness. They can be also used for the development of rehabilitation activities.

RESUMO

It has been shown that the most marked changes of hemodynamics are found in patients with acute radiation disease of severe and moderate forms. They manifest in an increased resilient-viscous state of small arterial vessels. It may result in a reduced intensity of the blood content of cerebral vessels causing changes in the nature of the cerebral bioelectrical activity.
