Pesticides play a crucial role in securing global food production to meet the increasing demands. However, because of their pervasive use, they are now ubiquitous environmental pollutants that have adverse effects on both ecosystems and human health. In this study, the environmental occurrence and fate of 16 current-use pesticides (CUPs) were investigated in 93 forest soil samples obtained from 11 distinct mountains in China. The concentrations of the target pesticides ranged from 0.36 to 55 ng/g dry weight. Cypermethrin, dicofol, chlorpyrifos, chlorothalonil, and trifluralin were the most frequently detected CUPs. The CUP concentrations were generally higher in the O-horizon than the A-horizon. Chlorpyrifos, chlorothalonil, and dicofol were detected in most deep layers in soil profiles from three mountains selected to represent distinct climate zones. No clear altitudinal trend in organic carbon-normalized concentrations of CUPs was observed in the O- or A-horizons within individual mountains. A negative correlation was noted between the CUP concentrations and the altitudes across all sampling sites. This indicated that proximity to emission sources was a key factor affecting the spatial distribution of CUPs in mountain forest soil on a national scale. The ecological risk assessment showed that dicofol and cypermethrin pose potential risks to earthworms. This study emphasizes the importance of source control when setting management strategies for CUPs.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the value of ADC histogram based on whole lesion volume in distinguishing stage IA endometrial carcinoma from the endometrial polyp. METHODS: MR images of 108 patients with endometrial lesions confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed, including 65 cases of stage IA endometrial carcinoma and 43 cases of endometrial polyp. The volumetric ADC histogram metrics and general imaging features were evaluated and measured simultaneously. All the features were compared between the two groups. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was utilized to evaluate the diagnostic performance. RESULTS: The mean, max, min, and percentiles (10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 95th) ADC values of endometrial carcinoma were significantly lower than that of polyp (all P<0.05). The skewness and kurtosis of ADC values in the endometrial carcinoma group were significantly higher than those in the endometrial polyp group, and the variance of ADC values in the endometrial carcinoma group was lower than those in the endometrial polyp group (all P<0.05). Endometrial carcinoma demonstrated more obvious myometrial invasion combined with intra-lesion hemorrhage than polyp (all P<0.05). The 25th percentile of ADC values achieved the largest AUC (0.861) among all the ADC histogram metrics and general imaging features, and the sensitivity and specificity were 83.08% and 76.74%, with the cut-off value of 1.01 × 10-3mm2/s. CONCLUSIONS: The volumetric ADC histogram analysis was an effective method in differentiating endometrial carcinoma from an endometrial polyp. The 25th percentile of ADC values has satisfactory performance for detecting malignancy in the endometrium. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: The ADC histogram metric based on whole lesion is a promising imaging-maker in differentiating endometrial benign and malignant lesions.

Recent years have seen rising mortality rates linked to cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), despite advances in immunotherapy. Understanding RNA N6-methyladenosine (M6A) significance in SKCM is crucial for prognosis, tumor microenvironment (TME), immune cell presence, and immunotherapy efficacy. We analyzed 23 M6A regulators using SKCM samples from TCGA and GEO databases, identifying three M6A modification patterns linked to TME cell infiltration. Principal component analysis (PCA) yielded an M6A score for individual tumors, utilizing patient gene expression profiles and CNV data from TCGA. M6A modification patterns play a crucial role in SKCM development and progression, influencing tumor attributes such as inflammatory stage, subtype, TME interstitial activity, and genetic mutations. The M6A score independently predicts patient outcomes and correlates with improved response to immunotherapy, validated across anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 therapy cohorts. M6A modifications significantly impact the TME landscape, with the M6A score serving as a predictive marker for immunotherapy response. Integrating M6A-related information into clinical practice could revolutionize SKCM management and treatment strategies.

OBJECTIVE: The thickness of the nasal soft tissue envelope (STE) plays a crucial role in the final rhinoplasty results. The Asian nasal contour is typically characterized by a thicker STE and broader nasal tip, but objective data are lacking. The purpose of this study was to objectively measure nasal dermal thickness and overall STE thickness and to determine any demographic differences. METHODS: From July to September 2023, 110 patients presenting for consultation underwent ultrasound evaluation of their nasal STE. STE thickness was measured at predetermined subsites and compared with published data on white patients. RESULTS: The thickness of the STE in Asian patients was greater than that in white patients. The STE was thickest at the supratip (mean [SD]), (4.88 [0.74] mm) rather than at the nasion and thinnest at the rhinion (2.25 [0.51] mm). The nasal tip (4.07 [0.72] mm) showed comparable STE thickness with the nasion (4.13 [0.72] mm) but had a significantly thicker dermis than the nasion (2.35 ± 0.49 mm vs. 1.35 ± 0.35 mm, P < 0.05). Male sex and higher BMI tended to be correlated with a thicker nasal STE, but age did not show any relationship. A thicker nasal tip STE showed significantly greater nasal tip width and nasal alar thickness. CONCLUSION: STE thickness at different nasal subsites varies and affects external nasal contour and rhinoplasty outcomes. SUMMARY: Single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) is a powerful technique for decoding the complex cellular compositions in the tumor microenvironment (TME). As previous studies have defined many meaningful cell subtypes in several tumor types, there is a great need to computationally transfer these labels to new datasets. Also, different studies used different approaches or criteria to define the cell subtypes for the same major cell lineages. The relationships between the cell subtypes defined in different studies should be carefully evaluated. In this updated package scCancer2, designed for integrative tumor scRNA-seq data analysis, we developed a supervised machine learning framework to annotate TME cells with annotated cell subtypes from 15 scRNA-seq datasets with 594 samples in total. Based on the trained classifiers, we quantitatively constructed the similarity maps between the cell subtypes defined in different references by testing on all the 15 datasets. Secondly, to improve the identification of malignant cells, we designed a classifier by integrating large-scale pan-cancer TCGA bulk gene expression datasets and scRNA-seq datasets (10 cancer types, 175 samples, 663 857 cells). This classifier shows robust performances when no internal confidential reference cells are available. Thirdly, scCancer2 integrated a module to process the spatial transcriptomic data and analyze the spatial features of TME. Profiling spatial variations of cellular composition and transcriptomic characteristics is important for understanding the physiology and pathology of tissues. Spatial transcriptomics (ST) data depict spatial gene expression but the currently dominating high-throughput technology is yet not at single-cell resolution. Single-cell RNA-sequencing (SC) data provide high-throughput transcriptomic information at the single-cell level but lack spatial information. Integrating these two types of data would be ideal for revealing transcriptomic landscapes at single-cell resolution. We develop the method STEM (SpaTially aware EMbedding) for this purpose. It uses deep transfer learning to encode both ST and SC data into a unified spatially aware embedding space, and then uses the embeddings to infer SC-ST mapping and predict pseudo-spatial adjacency between cells in SC data. Semi-simulation and real data experiments verify that the embeddings preserved spatial information and eliminated technical biases between SC and ST data. We apply STEM to human squamous cell carcinoma and hepatic lobule datasets to uncover the localization of rare cell types and reveal cell-type-specific gene expression variation along a spatial axis. STEM is powerful for mapping SC and ST data to build single-cell level spatial transcriptomic landscapes, and can provide mechanistic insights into the spatial heterogeneity and microenvironments of tissues.

BACKGROUND: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a relatively common gynecologic endocrine disorder, which is hypogonadism associated with amenorrhea, increased levels of gonadotropins, and hypoestrogenism. POI resulting from ovarian autoimmunity is a poorly understood clinical condition lacking effective treatments. This study is aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on autoimmune premature ovarian insufficiency. METHODS: In this study, in vivo and in vitro experiments were conducted to clarify the therapeutic effects and possible mechanisms of human bone marrow-derived MSCs (hBMSCs) on autoimmune POI, and to provide an experimental evidence for the treatment of autoimmune POI by hBMSCs. Noteworthy, in this study, we used interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) to induce autoimmune inflammation in human granulosa cell line KGN, simulating the pathophysiological changes of granulosa cells in autoimmune POI, and therefore sought to establish an in vitro cell model of autoimmune POI, which is still lacking in experimental methodology. RESULTS: And we found that, in vitro, co-culture of hBMSCs could promote granulosa cell proliferation, inhibit apoptosis, improve hormone synthesis capacity, and reduce the occurrence of pyroptosis; and in vivo, hBMSCs resulted in improved estrous cycle disorders in autoimmune POI mice, increased serum estradiol, decreased follicle-stimulating hormone, improved ovarian morphology, increased number of primordial and primary follicles, decreased number of atretic follicles, and decreased ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis. CONCLUSIONS: hBMSCs have therapeutic effects on autoimmune POI both in vitro and in vivo.

Single-cell multi-omics technologies have revolutionized cancer research by allowing us to examine individual cells at a molecular level. Unlike traditional bulk omics approaches, which analyze populations of cells together, single-cell multi-omics enables us to uncover the heterogeneity within tumors and understand the unique molecular characteristics of different cell populations. By doing so, we can identify rare subpopulations of cells that are influential in tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to therapy. Moreover, single-cell multi-omics analysis provides valuable insights into the immune response triggered by various therapeutic interventions, such as immune checkpoint blockade, chemotherapy, and cell therapy. It also helps us better understand the intricate tumor microenvironment and its impact on patient prognosis and response to treatment. This comprehensive review focuses on the recent advancements in single-cell multi-omics methodologies, with an emphasis on single-cell multi-omics technologies. It highlights the important role of these techniques in uncovering the complexity of tumorigenesis and its multiple applications in cancer research, as well as their equally great contributions in other areas such as immunology. Through single-cell multi-omics, we gain a deeper understanding of cancer biology and pave the way for more precise and effective therapeutic strategies. Apart from those above, this paper also aims to introduce the advancements in live cell imaging technology, the latest developments in protein detection techniques, and explore their seamless integration with single-cell multi-omics technology.

BACKGROUND: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) form symbiotic relationships with various terrestrial plants and have attracted considerable interest as biofertilizers for improving the quality and yield of medicinal plants. Despite the widespread distribution of AMFs in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge's roots, research on the impact of multiple AMFs on biomass and active ingredient accumulations has not been conducted. In this study, the effects of five native AMFs (Glomus formosanum, Septoglomus constrictum, Rhizophagus manihotis, Acaulospora laevis, and Ambispora gerdemannii) and twenty-six communities on the root biomass and active ingredient concentrations of S. miltiorrhiza were assessed using the total factor design method. RESULTS: Thirty-one treatment groups formed symbiotic relationships with S. miltiorrhiza based on the pot culture results, and the colonization rate ranged from 54.83% to 89.97%. AMF communities had higher colonization rates and total phenolic acid concentration than single AMF, and communities also appeared to have higher root fresh weight, dry weight, and total phenolic acid concentration than single inoculations. As AMF richness increased, there was a rising trend in root biomass and total tanshinone accumulations (ATTS), while total phenolic acid accumulations (ATP) showed a decreasing trend. This suggests that plant productivity was influenced by the AMF richness, with higher inoculation benefits observed when the communities contained three or four AMFs. Additionally, the affinities of AMF members were also connected to plant productivity. The inoculation effect of closely related AMFs within the same family, such as G. formosanum, S. constrictum, and R. manihotis, consistently yielded lower than that of mono-inoculation when any combinations were applied. The co-inoculation of S. miltiorrhiza with nearby or distant AMFs from two families, such as G. formosanum, R. manihotis, and Ac. laevis or Am. gerdemannii resulted in an increase of ATP and ATTS by more than 50%. AMF communities appear to be more beneficial to the yield of bioactive constituents than the single AMF, but overall community inoculation effects are related to the composition of AMFs and the relationship between members. CONCLUSION: This study reveals that the AMF community has great potential to improve the productivity and the accumulation of bioactive constituents in S. miltiorrhiza, indicating that it is an effective way to achieve sustainable agricultural development through using the AMF community.

The pathogenesis of autoimmune demyelinating neuropathies is poorly understood compared to inherited demyelinating forms. We performed whole transcriptome (RNA-Seq) using nerve biopsy tissues of patients with different autoimmune and inherited demyelinating neuropathies (CIDP n = 10, POEMS n = 18, DADS n = 3, CMT1 n = 3) versus healthy controls (n = 6). A limited number of differentially expressed genes compared to healthy controls were identified (POEMS = 125, DADS = 15, CMT = 14, CIDP = 5). Divergent pathogenic pathways including inflammatory, demyelinating and neurite regeneration such as with the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM1) part of the immunoglobulin superfamily and RhoGD1 are found. Shared and discordant pathogenic injury are discovered between autoimmune and inherited forms.

BACKGROUND: The fat repositioning technique has been widely used for the treatment of tear trough deformity, and there is a strong belief that excess fat herniation is a prerequisite for the procedure. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate its effect in patients with minimal or no excess fat herniation. METHODS: A total of 232 patients underwent the procedure and met the inclusion criteria. Of them, 198 were primary cases, and 34 had a history of fat removal for blepharoplasty. The amount of infraorbital fat was evaluated preoperatively by palpation. Release of the tear trough ligament and fat redistribution were sequentially performed as previously described. Surgical outcome was assessed based on Hirmand's grading system and the FACE-Q scales. RESULTS: Tear trough deformities were eliminated in more than 85% of cases. Aesthetic results were comparable between the primary and secondary surgery groups. The percentage of patients who complained of extremely or moderately severe tear trough deformities decreased from 86.3% preoperatively to 34.0% postoperatively. The scores of the lower eyelid FACE-Q decreased significantly (P<0.05). Patients were satisfied with their decision to undergo blepharoplasty (78.2±18.7). Undercorrection of the tear trough occurred in 30 patients. Other complications included 12 cases of transient conjunctiva bleeding, 2 cases of eyelid numbness, and 6 cases of dry eye. These resolved spontaneously. CONCLUSION: Fat repositioning is a feasible and effective technique for the treatment of tear trough deformities in patients with minimal or no excess orbital fat herniation provided that a fat pad is palpable. RESUMO

Single-cell transcriptomics enables the identification of rare cell types and the inference of state transitions, whereas spatially resolved transcriptomics allows the quantification of cells and genes in the context of tissues. The recent progress in these new technologies is improving our understanding of the cell landscape and its roles in diseases. Here, we review key biological insights into liver homeostasis, development, regeneration, chronic liver disease, and cancer obtained from single-cell and spatially resolved transcriptomics. We highlight recent progress in the liver cell atlas that characterizes the comprehensive cellular composition; diversity and function; the spatial architecture such as liver zonation, cell communication, and proximity; the cell identity conversion and cell-specific alterations that are associated with liver pathology; and new therapeutic targets. We further discuss outstanding challenges, advanced experimental technologies, and computational methods that help to address these challenges.

We developed a post-processing optical imaging model based on two-dimensional axisymmetric radiation hydrodynamics. Simulation and program benchmarks were performed using laser-produced Al plasma optical images obtained via transient imaging. The emission profiles of a laser-produced Al plasma plume in air at atmospheric pressure were reproduced, and the influence of plasma state parameters on radiation characteristics were clarified. In this model, the radiation transport equation is solved on the real optical path, which is mainly used to study the radiation of luminescent particles during plasma expansion. The model outputs consist of the electron temperature, particle density, charge distribution, absorption coefficient, and corresponding spatio-temporal evolution of the optical radiation profile. The model helps with understanding element detection and quantitative analysis of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an intractable autoimmune disease with unmet medical needs. Conventional immunosuppressive therapies have modest efficacy and obvious side effects. Targeted therapies with small molecules and antibodies remain under investigation in small pilot studies. The major breakthrough was the development of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) to treat refractory SSc with rapidly progressive internal organ involvement. However, AHSCT is contraindicated in patients with advanced visceral involvement. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) which are characterized by immunosuppressive, antifibrotic and proangiogenic capabilities may be a promising alternative option for the treatment of SSc. Multiple preclinical and clinical studies on the use of MSCs to treat SSc are underway. However, there are several unresolved limitations and safety concerns of MSC transplantation, such as immune rejections and risks of tumour formation, respectively. Since the major therapeutic potential of MSCs has been ascribed to their paracrine signalling, the use of MSC-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs)/secretomes/exosomes as a "cell-free" therapy might be an alternative option to circumvent the limitations of MSC-based therapies. In the present review, we overview the current knowledge regarding the therapeutic efficacy of MSCs in SSc, focusing on progresses reported in preclinical and clinical studies using MSCs, as well as challenges and future directions of MSC transplantation as a treatment option for patients with SSc.

The protective effects of antibiotics against infection in cancer patients treated with chemotherapy remains unclear and related studies have been performed in healthy or pathogen-infected animal models. Here, we aimed to study the effects of antibiotic use on intestinal infection in tumor-bearing mice treated with chemotherapy and to determine the underlying mechanisms. Subcutaneous CT26 tumor-bearing mice were assigned to four groups: the control (Ctrl) group without any treatment, the antibiotic (ATB) group treated with a mixture of ampicillin, streptomycin, and colistin, the 5-fluorouracil (FU) group treated with four cycles of intraperitoneal injections of FU, and the ATB + FU group treated with the combination of ATB and FU. Gut microbial composition was determined and mesenteric lymph nodes (mLNs) were isolated for bacterial culturing. Intestinal permeability and integrity were assessed and the expression of cytokines was analyzed by quantitative PCR, ELISA, or flow cytometry (FCM). Monocytes in the colonic lamina propria (LP) were measured by FCM. Compared with the Ctrl and FU groups, the numbers of positive bacterial culturing results for mLNs were higher, and gut bacterial compositions were altered in the ATB and ATB + FU groups, with significantly decreased alpha diversity in the ATB + FU group. Intestinal integrity regarding the expression of tight junction proteins and intestinal permeability were not impaired significantly after treatments, but the colons were shorter in the ATB + FU group. The expression levels of intestinal IL-17A and IL-22, as well as the percentages of IL-17A+ cells in the colonic LP of the ATB + FU group, were lower than those in the FU group. The percentages of Ly6Chi monocytes in the colonic LP were lower, but those in the spleen were higher in the ATB + FU group than in the FU group. The mRNA levels of colonic CCL8 were reduced in the ATB + FU group. Antibiotic use is associated with an increased incidence of intestinal infections in tumor-bearing mice treated with chemotherapy, which might in turn be associated with a dysregulated gut microbiota that inhibits colonic monocyte recruitment and IL-17A and IL-22 production.

RESUMO

Soft fibroma is a common benign skin tumour. The size varies from 1 to 10 mm, and giant soft fibromas were rare. Mostly, the appearances of soft fibromas were pedicled, filiform and papular. We reported a female adolescent with a giant penis-like soft fibroma in her vulva, meanwhile with an external genital malformation. We recalled our treatment process, including diagnosis and surgery, and aimed to broaden the understanding of soft fibroma through our case report.

Background: To quantify the surgical outcomes of transconjunctival fat repositioning technique, we study the lower periorbital area with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and three-dimensional (3D) surface imaging. Methods: The preoperative and postoperative images were analyzed. The T1-weighted MR images in the quasi-sagittal plane parallel to the long axis of the orbit and passing through the globe center were used to measure the transposed fat, and 3D comparison was performed to calculate the tear trough depth. Changes throughout the surgery and their relationships with clinical characteristics were statistically analyzed. Results: A total of 11 patients who underwent surgery were included. The mean follow-up period was 10.1 months. MRI measurements showed that the fat area beneath the tear trough increased from 0 to 22.7 ± 6.7 mm2 after fat repositioning, whereas the fat area of the eyelid bag decreased from 46.3 ± 11.0 mm2 to 25.5 ± 14.0 mm2. The 3D results revealed an increase in thickness by 1.2 ± 0.4 mm in the tear tough areas. Conclusion: Both MRI and 3D imaging provide options to objectively assess the fat-repositioning technique.

Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and life-threatening complication in hospitalized and critically ill patients and has unacceptable morbidity and mortality rates. However, effective approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of septic AKI are still lacking. Here, we demonstrated significant increases in the miR-26a-5p levels in renal tubular cells of LPS-induced septic AKI models both in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, we provided evidence of the involvement of NF-κB in miR-26a-5p induction. LPS treatment of renal tubular cells led to the activation of NF-κB, and inhibition of NF-κB by TPCA-1 prevented the induction of miR-26a-5p. These results indicated that NF-κB was a key upstream factor for the induction of miR-26a-5p in septic AKI. Anti-miR-26a-5p enhanced the expression of IL-6 at both the protein and mRNA levels following LPS treatment. Furthermore, our luciferase microRNA target reporter assay verified that IL-6 is a direct target of miR-26a-5p. Blocking miR-26a-5p promoted renal inflammation and worsened kidney injury. Thus, our study indicated that the miR-26a-5p/IL-6 axis can alleviate sepsis-induced acute kidney injury by inhibiting renal inflammation. This mechanism may represent a therapeutic target for septic AKI.

Plant uptake can reduce soil cadmium (Cd) pollution, while how to exactly predict plant Cd uptake in industrial or mining areas during vegetation restoration remains unexplored. Taking Heteropogon contortus as the object plant, we predicted plant Cd uptake in the Majiatian tailings reservoir during 48-year vegetation restoration by the methods of soil total Cd, DGT (diffusive gradients in thin films technique) and acetic acid (HAc) extraction. Meanwhile, we explored the effects of soil properties on the accuracy of the prediction. Total Cd concentrations in the soils exhibited a better prediction of plant Cd uptake relative to the methods of HAc extraction and DGT. However, the DGT method effectively predicted plant Cd uptake at low Cd supply (lower than 0.42 µg/L), probably because of the dominant diffusion limitation by plants. The prediction of plant Cd uptake by HAc extraction was improved when combined with soil pH. Our results indicate that with increasing external Cd inputs during the vegetation restoration, soil total Cd and traditional extraction method in combination with soil properties are effective ways to predict plant Cd uptake, especially when the Cd fractions cannot be measured by DGT. However, the DGT method works once plant Cd uptake dominated by diffusion limitation despite the interference in soil properties.

BACKGROUND: Despite improvements in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis, breast cancer is still a leading cause of cancer death for women. Compelling evidence suggests that targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) have a crucial impact on overcoming the current shortcomings of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In the present study, we aimed to study the effects of T cells and a critical anti-tumor cytokine, interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), on breast cancer stem cells. METHODS: BALB/c mice and BALB/c nude mice were subcutaneously injected with 4T1 tumor cells. Tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis were assessed. ALDEFLOUR™ assays were performed to identify aldehyde dehydrogenasebright (ALDHbr) tumor cells. ALDHbr cells as well as T cells from tumor-bearing BALB/c mice were analyzed using flow cytometry. The effects of CD8+ T cells on ALDHbr tumor cells were assessed in vitro and in vivo. The expression profiles of ALDHbr and ALDHdim 4T1 tumor cells were determined. The levels of plasma IFN-γ were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and their associations with the percentages of ALDHbr tumor cells were evaluated. The effects of IFN-γ on ALDH expression and the malignancy of 4T1 tumor cells were analyzed in vitro. RESULTS: There were fewer metastatic nodules in tumor-bearing BALB/c mice than those in tumor-bearing BALB/c nude mice (25.40 vs. 54.67, P < 0.050). CD8+ T cells decreased the percentages of ALDHbr 4T1 tumor cells in vitro (control vs. effector to target ratio of 1:1, 10.15% vs. 5.76%, P < 0.050) and in vivo (control vs. CD8+ T cell depletion, 10.15% vs. 21.75%, P < 0.001). The functions of upregulated genes in ALDHbr 4T1 tumor cells were enriched in the pathway of response to IFN-γ. The levels of plasma IFN-γ decreased gradually in tumor-bearing BALB/c mice, while the percentages of ALDHbr tumor cells in primary tumors increased. IFN-γ at a concentration of 26.68 ng/mL decreased the percentages of ALDHbr 4T1 tumor cells (22.88% vs. 9.88%, P < 0.050) and the protein levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A1 in 4T1 tumor cells (0.86 vs. 0.49, P < 0.050) and inhibited the abilities of sphere formation (sphere diameter <200 µm, 159.50 vs. 72.0; ≥200 µm, 127.0 vs. 59.0; both P < 0.050) and invasion (89.67 vs. 67.67, P < 0.001) of 4T1 tumor cells. CONCLUSION: CD8+ T cells and IFN-γ decreased CSC numbers in a 4T1 mouse model of breast cancer. The application of IFN-γ may be a potential strategy for reducing CSCs in breast cancer.
