RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hemorrhage, which is not a rare complication in patients with gastric cancer (GC)/gastroesophageal junction cancer (GEJC), can lead to a poor prognosis. However, no study has examined the effectiveness and safety of chemotherapy as an initial therapy for GC/GEJC patients with overt bleeding (OB). AIM: To investigate the impact of OB on the survival and treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) of GC/GEJC patients. METHODS: Patients with advanced or metastatic GC/GEJC who received systematic treatment at Peking University Third Hospital were enrolled in this study. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed. RESULTS: After 1:2 PSM analysis, 93 patients were assessed, including 32 patients with OB before treatment (OBBT) and 61 patients without OBBT. The disease control rate was 90.6% in the group with OBBT and 88.5% in the group without OBBT, and this difference was not statistically significant. There was no difference in the incidence of TRAEs between the group with OBBT and the group without OBBT. The median overall survival (mOS) was 15.2 months for patients with OBBT and 23.7 months for those without OBBT [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.101, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.672-1.804, log rank P = 0.701]. The mOS was worse for patients with OB after treatment (OBAT) than for those without OBAT (11.4 months vs 23.7 months, HR = 1.787, 95%CI: 1.006-3.175, log rank P = 0.044). CONCLUSION: The mOS for GC/GEJC patients with OBBT was similar to that for those without OBBT, but the mOS for patients with OBAT was worse than that for those without OBAT.

RESUMO

Background: Bacterial lysates are known for having immunomodulatory properties and have been used mainly for the prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections (RTIs). However, rigorous studies are needed to confirm the clinical efficacy of bacterial lysates with various bacterial antigen components, preparation methods, administration routes and course of treatment. OM-85, an oral standardized lysate prepared by alkaline lysis of 21 strains from 8 species of common respiratory tract pathogens, is indicated as immunotherapy for prevention of recurrent RTIs and acute infectious exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. OM-85 acts on multiple innate and adaptive immune targets and can restore type 1 helper T (Th1)/Th2 balance. Sporadic studies have shown advances in pharmacology and therapeutics of OM-85, and thus an update review is necessary. Methods: Literature was retrieved by searching PubMed, Web of science, Embase, CNKI, and Full Text Database of Chinese Medical Journals. Results: New roles of OM-85 were discovered in prevention and treatment of lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, SARS-CoV-2 infection, allergic rhinitis, pulmonary fibrosis, atopic dermatitis, and nephrotic syndrome. Pharmacoeconomic values of OM-85 were demonstrated in prophylaxis and treatment of RTIs, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, chronic bronchitis, rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis. Two consecutive courses of OM-85 (6 or 12 months apart) could prevent recurrent RTIs in children. Maternal OM-85 treatment could offer benefits for offspring. Product-specific response was observed. The efficacy of OM-85 may be associated with patient's characteristics (eg, severity of the disease, age, immune response pattern, malignancy risk stratification). Conclusion: OM-85 can improve effectiveness of standard care for some primary diseases, and carry significant pharmacoeconomic implications. The benefits shown by OM-85 in vitro and in vivo, when extrapolated to humans, are exciting but also require caution. Individualized treatment may need to be considered. It is necessary to compare the efficacy and safety of various bacterial lysate preparations.

RESUMO

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To develop a radiomics model with enhanced diagnostic performance, reduced unnecessary fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) rate, and improved clinical net benefit for thyroid nodules. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of 217 thyroid nodules. Lesions were divided into training (n = 152) and verification (n = 65) cohorts. Three radiomics scores were derived from B-mode ultrasound (B-US) and strain elastography (SE) images, alone and in combination. A radiomics nomogram was constructed by combining high-frequency ultrasonic features and the best-performing radiomics score. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), unnecessary FNA rate, and decision curve analysis (DCA) results for the nomogram were compared to those obtained with the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging, Reporting and Data System (ACR TI-RADS) score and the combined TI-RADS+SE+ contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) advanced clinical score. RESULTS: The three radiomics scores (B-US, SE, B-US+SE) achieved training AUCs of 0.753 (0.668-0.825), 0.761 (0.674-0.838), and 0.795 (0.715-0.871), and validation AUCs of 0.732 (0.579-0.867), 0.753 (0.609-0.892), and 0.752 (0.592-0.899) respectively. The AUC of the nomogram for the entire patient cohort was 0.909 (0.864-0.954), which was higher than that of the ACR TI-RADS score (P < 0.001) and equivalent to the TI-RADS+SE+CEUS score (P = 0.753). Similarly, the unnecessary FNA rate of the radiomics nomogram was significantly lower than that of the ACR TI-RADS score (P = 0.007) and equivalent to the TI-RADS+SE+CEUS score (P = 0.457). DCA also showed that the radiomics nomogram brought more net clinical benefit than the ACR TI-RADS score but was similar to that of the TI-RADS+SE+CEUS score. CONCLUSION: The radiomics nomogram developed in this study can be used as an objective, accurate, cost-effective, and noninvasive method for the characterization of thyroid nodules.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In large multiregional cohort studies, survival data is often collected at small geographical levels (such as counties) and aggregated at larger levels, leading to correlated patterns that are associated with location. Traditional studies typically analyze such data globally or locally by region, often neglecting the spatial information inherent in the data, which can introduce bias in effect estimates and potentially reduce statistical power. METHOD: We propose a Geographically Weighted Accelerated Failure Time Model for spatial survival data to investigate spatial heterogeneity. We establish a weighting scheme and bandwidth selection based on quasi-likelihood information criteria. Theoretical properties of the proposed estimators are thoroughly examined. To demonstrate the efficacy of the model in various scenarios, we conduct a simulation study with different sample sizes and adherence to the proportional hazards assumption or not. Additionally, we apply the proposed method to analyze ovarian cancer survival data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results cancer registry in the state of New Jersey. RESULTS: Our simulation results indicate that the proposed model exhibits superior performance in terms of four measurements compared to existing methods, including the geographically weighted Cox model, when the proportional hazards assumption is violated. Furthermore, in scenarios where the sample size per location is 20-25, the simulation data failed to fit the local model, while our proposed model still demonstrates satisfactory performance. In the empirical study, we identify clear spatial variations in the effects of all three covariates. CONCLUSION: Our proposed model offers a novel approach to exploring spatial heterogeneity of survival data compared to global and local models, providing an alternative to geographically weighted Cox regression when the proportional hazards assumption is not met. It addresses the issue of certain counties' survival data being unable to fit the model due to limited samples, particularly in the context of rare diseases.

RESUMO

Background: Investigating oncogenes and the mechanisms driving oncogenic processes in human tumors is imperative for the development of efficient therapies. Peroxidasin (PXDN) has been reported to play a critical role in tissue development and homeostasis. However, the role of PXDN in the occurrence and development of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) remains unknown. Methods: Data from multiple databases, including GEO and TCGA, were used to analyze the expression levels of PXDN. Taking nasopharyngeal carcinoma as an example, in vitro experiments were conducted to explore the biological functions of PXDN. Overexpression of stable cell lines was achieved through lentiviral infection, cell proliferation was examined using CCK8 and BrdU incorporation assays, and clone formation experiments were performed to assess cell growth. Transwell and wound healing assays were employed to evaluate cell invasion and migration abilities. Additionally, immunofluorescence staining with multiple targets was used to analyze the immune microenvironment of the tumor tissues. Co-culture experiments, followed by clone formation and CFSE incorporation assays, were conducted to observe the impact of NPC stable cell lines on T cells. Flow cytometry was performed to detect surface markers and cytokines in T cells after co-culture to assess T cell function. Results: PXDN was highly expressed in multiple tumors, and its high expression and mutation profile were correlated with poor survival. Functionally, PXDN plays a crucial role in promoting oncogenic processes by enhancing NPC cell proliferation and metastasis. Mechanistically, PXDN activates extracellular matrix (ECM) signaling pathways while simultaneously inhibiting T-cell infiltration and activation, thereby facilitating cancer progression. Conclusion: We characterized PXDN as a valuable biomarker for pan-cancer diagnosis and prognosis. We also uncovered new oncogenic roles for PXDN in promoting cancer progression and regulating T-cell immunosuppressive function in NPC.

RESUMO

Background: In this study, we aimed to develop a method for the simultaneous quantification of methotrexate (MTX) samples extracted from human plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), using two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC). Furthermore, we intended to verify whether intravenous mannitol could increase MTX concentration in the CSF of patients. Methods: The mobile phase of PUMP1 consisted of 10.0 mmol/L ammonium acetate and acetonitrile. PUMP2 solution consisted of an aqueous solution of 10.0 mmol/L ammonium acetate. The mobile phase of PUMP3 comprised 50.0 mmol/L ammonium acetate and acetonitrile, with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Results: The developed method was successfully employed to simultaneously determine drug levels in plasma and CSF from the patients treated with MTX. CSF samples were obtained by lumbar puncture 0.5 - 2 h after starting the high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) infusion (over 4 h) and immediately before the intrathecal (IT) administration of MTX. Venous blood samples were drawn 4 h after the start of infusion. The calibration curve was linear, with a range of 0.07 - 2.38 µmol/L for CSF samples and a range of 0.11 - 5.51 µmol/L for plasma samples. Precision (> 95%) and accuracy (> 97%) were within the acceptance criteria for each quality control (QC) level. Inter- and intra-day accuracy and precision values met the acceptance criteria for each QC level. The correlation between MTX concentrations in the plasma and CSF was moderate (r = 0.502). No significant difference was observed in MTX concentration in CSF between patients using intravenous mannitol and those not using intravenous mannitol (P = 0.682). Conclusion: The developed method was useful for therapeutic drug monitoring of MTX and suitable for assessing the risks and benefits of chemotherapy in patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma. Intravenous mannitol did not increase MTX concentration in the CSF of patients.

RESUMO

The EGFR-TK pathway is pivotal in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment, drugs targeting both EGFR wild-type and mutant tumor cells are still urgently needed. The focus of our study is on ATP-competitive inhibitors crucial for NSCLC therapy, specifically targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). A series of derivatives of Erlotinib and Icotinib were developed by incorporating a macrocyclic polyamine into a quinazoline scaffold to enhance their inhibitory activity against drug-resistant cells. The compounds exhibit modest activity against EGFR triple mutants (EGFRdel19/T790M/C797S). Compound b demonstrated slightly improved inhibition activity against PC-9del19/T790M/C797S (IC50 = 496.3 nM). This could provide some insights for optimizing EGFR inhibitors, particularly in the context of EGFR triple mutants.

RESUMO

Diabetic wounds tend to develop into nonhealing wounds associated with the complex inflammatory microenvironment of uncontrollable bacterial infection, reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, and chronic hypoxia. Damaged blood vessels hinder metabolic circulation, aggravating hypoxia, and ROS accumulation and further exacerbating the diabetic wound microenvironment. However, existing treatments with a single functionality have difficulty healing complicated diabetic wounds. Therefore, developing an integrative strategy to improve the hostility of the diabetic wound microenvironment is urgently needed. Herein, multifunctional genipin (GP)-crosslinked chitosan (CS)-based hydrogels decorated with the biomimetic metal-organic framework (MOF)-nanozymes and the natural antibacterial agent chlorogenic acid (CGA), which is named MOF/CGA@GP-CS (MCGC), are prepared. With catalase (CAT)-like activity, these dual-metal MOF-nanozymes are promising bioreactors for simultaneously alleviating ROS accumulation and hypoxia by converting elevated endogenous H2O2 into dissolved oxygen in diabetic wounds. In addition, the other component of natural polyphenolic CGA acts as a mild antibacterial agent, efficiently inhibiting wound infection and avoiding antibiotic resistance. Impressively, the MCGC hydrogels accelerate infected diabetic wound healing by eliminating oxidative stress, increasing oxygenation, and reversing bacterial infection in vivo. In this work, an effective strategy based on multifunctional hydrogel wound dressings is successfully developed and applied in diabetic wound management.

RESUMO

Introduction: Transformation to SCLC is a resistance mechanism to tyrosine kinase inhibitor in EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Nevertheless, the clinical and molecular features of SCLC transformation in LUAD with leptomeningeal metastases (LM) are scarce. Methods: We retrospectively collected 237 patients with NSCLC who underwent lumbar puncture owing to suggestion of LM. All SCLC transformation in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was confirmed by two experienced pathologists using cytologic evaluation. CSF circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) was tested by next-generation sequencing. Results: Tumor cells in CSF samples were found in 111 patients (111 of 237, 46.8%), and eight cases (eight of 111, 7.2%) were identified as having SCLC cells in CSF. Seven patients carried the EGFR mutation, including four patients with EGFR exon 19 deletion and three patients with EGFR exon 21 L858R mutation. Another patient harbored ERBB2 insertion. Seven of these patients were resistant to targeted therapy. CSF ctDNA analysis reported that TP53 and RB1 mutations were common. The median time from the diagnosis of advanced NSCLC to SCLC transformation found in CSF was 9.7 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.0-17.5 mo). The median overall survival since the initial diagnosis of metastatic NSCLC was 15.3 months (95% CI: 1.2-29.4 mo). The median overall survival after SCLC transformation detected in CSF was 5.0 months (95% CI: 4.0-5.9 mo). Conclusions: SCLC transformation may be revealed in CSF by both cytologic evaluation and ctDNA, not just in tissue that underwent rebiopsy. SCLC transformation of CSF is informative for resistance mechanism in patients with LUAD with LM on tyrosine kinase inhibitor progression, which was associated with poor survival.

RESUMO

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are web-like structures composed of cytoplasmic contents, DNA chromatin and various granular proteins released by neutrophils in response to viruses, bacteria, immune complexes and cytokines. Studies have shown that NETs can promote the occurrence, development and metastasis of tumors. In this paper, the mechanism underlying the formation and degradation of NETs and the malignant biological behaviors of NETs, such as the promotion of tumor cell proliferation, epithelial mesenchymal transition, extracellular matrix remodeling, angiogenesis, immune evasion and tumor-related thrombosis, are described in detail. NETs are being increasingly studied as therapeutic targets for tumors. We have summarized strategies for targeting NETs or interfering with NET-cancer cell interactions and explored the potential application value of NETs as biomarkers in cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as the relationship between NETs and therapeutic resistance.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the clinical and radiographic features of PNLH and the relationship with pathologic features. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 11 patients in whom PNLH was confirmed in our department were retrospectively studied. The clinical and radiographic features were extracted and analyzed, and we also discussed the relationship between radiologic and pathologic features. RESULTS: Of the 11 patients with PNLH, 5 were discovered incidentally, while 4 presented with chest symptoms. Laboratory tests showed no specificity and the lesions were located under the pleura with an adjacent pleural indentation. Most lesions were solid, with some showing signs of spiculation or spiculate protuberance. In some cases, hypodense areas and vocules were visible. The enhanced scan showed marked enhancement, but most had no lymph node enlargement, and there was no pleural effusion. CONCLUSIONS: The clinical manifestations of PNLH are nonspecific and the imaging features overlap with those of malignant lung tumors, and the diagnosis depends on pathologic examination.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Postoperative cognitive impairment are common neural complications in older surgical patients and exacerbate the burden of medical care on families and society. METHODS: A total of 140 older patients who were scheduled for elective orthopaedic surgery or pancreatic surgery with general anaesthesia were randomly assigned to Group S or Group I with a 1:1 allocation. Patients in Group S and Group I received intranasal administration of 400 µL of normal saline or 40 IU/400 µL of insulin, respectively, once daily from 5 minutes before anaesthesia induction until 3 days postoperatively. Perioperative cognitive function was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Basic (MoCA-B) at 1 day before and 3 days after surgery and postoperative delirium (POD) incidence was assessed using the 3-minute Diagnostic Interview for CAM (3D-CAM) on postoperative days 1-3. Serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α), S100-ß and C-reactive protein (CRP) were measured on the first day after surgery. RESULTS: Insulin treatment significantly increased postoperative MMSE and MoCA-B scores in group I than in group S (P < 0.001, P = 0.001, respectively), decreased the incidence of POD within the 3-day postoperative period in Group I than in Group S (10.9% vs 26.6%, P = 0.024), and inhibited postoperative IL-6 and S100-ß levels in Group I compared to Group S (P = 0.034, P = 0.044, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Intranasal insulin administration is thus suggested as a potential therapy to improve postoperative cognition in older patients undergoing surgery. However, a more standardized multi-centre, large-sample study is needed to further validate these results.

RESUMO

Introduction: Nicotine degradation is a new strategy to block nicotine-induced pathology. The potential of human microbiota to degrade nicotine has not been explored. Aims: This study aimed to uncover the genomic potentials of human microbiota to degrade nicotine. Methods: To address this issue, we performed a systematic annotation of Nicotine-Degrading Enzymes (NDEs) from genomes and metagenomes of human microbiota. A total of 26,295 genomes and 1,596 metagenomes for human microbiota were downloaded from public databases and five types of NDEs were annotated with a custom pipeline. We found 959 NdhB, 785 NdhL, 987 NicX, three NicA1, and three NicA2 homologs. Results: Genomic classification revealed that six phylum-level taxa, including Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Firmicutes_A, Bacteroidota, Actinobacteriota, and Chloroflexota, can produce NDEs, with Proteobacteria encoding all five types of NDEs studied. Analysis of NicX prevalence revealed differences among body sites. NicX homologs were found in gut and oral samples with a high prevalence but not found in lung samples. NicX was found in samples from both smokers and non-smokers, though the prevalence might be different. Conclusion: This study represents the first systematic investigation of NDEs from the human microbiota, providing new insights into the physiology and ecological functions of human microbiota and shedding new light on the development of nicotine-degrading probiotics for the treatment of smoking-related diseases.

RESUMO

The environmental concern posed by toxic heavy metal pollution in soil and water has grown. Ca-based layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have shown exceptional efficacy in eliminating heavy metal cations through the formation of super-stable mineralization structures (SSMS). Nevertheless, it is still unclear how the intricate coordination environment of Ca2+ in Ca-based LDH materials affects the mineralization performance, which hinders the development and application of Ca-based LDH materials as efficient mineralizers. Herein, we discover that, in comparison to a standard LDH, the mineralization efficiency for Cd2+ ions may be significantly enhanced in the pentacoordinated structure of defect-containing Ca-5-LDH utilizing both density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations. Furthermore, the calcination-reconstruction technique can be utilized to successfully produce pentacoordinated Ca-5-LDH. Subsequent investigations verified that Ca-5-LDH exhibited double the mineralization performance (421.5 mg g-1) in comparison to the corresponding pristine seven coordinated Ca-7OH/H2O-LDH (191.2 mg g-1). The coordination-relative mineralization mechanism of Ca-based LDH was confirmed by both theoretical calculations and experimental results. The understanding of LDH materials and their possible use in environmental remediation are advanced by this research.

RESUMO

Regulating macrophage phenotypes to reconcile the conflict between bacterial suppression and tissue regeneration is ideal for treating infectious skin wounds. Here, an injectable immunoregulatory hydrogel (SrmE20) that sequentially drives macrophage phenotypic polarization (M0 to M1, then to M2) was constructed by integrating anti-inflammatory components and proinflammatory solvents. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the proinflammatory solvent ethanol stabilized the hydrogel structure, maintained the phenolic hydroxyl group activity, and achieved macrophages' proinflammatory transition (M0 to M1) to enhance antibacterial effects. With ethanol depletion, the hydrogel's cations and phenolic hydroxyl groups synergistically regulated macrophages' anti-inflammatory transition (M1 to M2) to initiate regeneration. In the anti-contraction full-thickness wound model with infection, this hydrogel effectively eliminated bacteria and even achieved anti-inflammatory M2 macrophage accumulation at three days post-surgery, accelerated angiogenesis and collagen deposition. By sequentially driving macrophage phenotypic polarization, this injectable immunoregulatory hydrogel will bring new guidance for the care and treatment of infected wounds.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Lindqvist-type polyoxometalates (POMs) exhibit potential antitumor activities. This study aimed to examine the effects of Lindqvist-type POMs against breast cancer and the underlying mechanism. METHODS: Using different cancer cell lines, the present study evaluated the antitumor activities of POM analogues that were modified at the body skeleton based on molybdenum-vanadium-centered negative oxygen ion polycondensations with different side strains. Cell colony formation assay, autophagy detection, mitochondrial observation, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and animal model were used to evaluate the antitumor activities of POMs against breast cancer cells and the related mechanism. RESULTS: MO-4, a Lindqvist-type POM linking a proline at its side strain, was selected for subsequent experiments due to its low half maximal inhibitory concentration in the inhibition of proliferation of breast cancer cells. It was found that MO-4 induced the apoptosis of multiple types of breast cancer cells. Mechanistically, MO-4 activated intracellular mitophagy by elevating mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and resulting in apoptosis. In vivo, breast tumor growth and distant metastasis were significantly reduced following MO-4 treatment. CONCLUSION: Collectively, the results of the present study demonstrated that the novel Lindqvist-type POM MO-4 may exhibit potential in the treatment of breast cancer.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The study investigated the effect of capsular tension ring (CTR) implantation on postoperative refractive stability and accuracy of intraocular lens (IOL) formulas for axial length (AL) ≥ 27.0 mm patients. METHODS: Prospective case series. The eyes of patients underwent phacoemulsification extraction combined with IOL implantation were classified as CTR implantation (A-CTR) and without CTR implantation (B-CON) groups. Refractive outcome and anterior chamber depth (ACD) were recorded at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months post-operation. Prediction refractive error (PE) and absolute refractive error (AE) of each formula were calculated. RESULTS: A total of 89 eyes (63 patients) were included and randomized into the CTR (A-CTR) and control groups (B-CON). Comparison of refraction at different postoperative times of the CTR group showed no statistical difference (all P > 0.05). The ACD in the A-CTR group gradually deepened, and that in the B-CON group gradually shallowed (all P > 0.05). The formulas' AE showed statistically significant differences in CTR and CON groups (P < 0.001). The PE of Hill-RBF 2.0 and EVO formulas in the A-CTR group were more hyperopic than that in the B-CON group (all P > 0.05), the other five formulas were more myopic in A-CTR group than that in the B-CON group (all P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Patients with 13 mm diameter CTR implantation tended to have stable refraction at 1 week post-surgery and 1 month for those without it. CTR of the 13 mm diameter had no effect on the selection of formulas. Additionally, it is found that Kane and EVO formulas were more accurate for patients with AL ≥ 27.0 mm.

RESUMO

Modulating the photogenerated electrons of CeO2 to activate O2 and efficiently photocatalytic degradation of chlorophenols is a highly desired goal. Herein, we have successfully fabricated an FePc/CeO2 heterojunction through H-bond induced assembly. The photocatalytic degradation of 2,4-DCP by the amount-optimized FePc/CeO2 nanocomposite was improved by 3 times compared with that by pure CeO2. By means of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and single wavelength photocurrent spectroscopy, it is confirmed that the excellent photocatalytic performance is mainly attributed to the formation of the Z-scheme heterojunction, which promotes charge separation and transfer, and the introduction of FePc broadens the visible light absorption range of the heterojunction. Moreover, O2 temperature-programmed-desorbed curves and electrochemical O2 reduction measurement results demonstrate that the single Fe-N4(II) site in FePc is more conducive to promoting O2 activation than that of other metal phthalocyanines. Based on in situ FT-IR and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), a possible reaction pathway of 2,4-DCP degradation was proposed. This study provides a novel strategy for preparing CeO2 based Z-scheme heterojunctions with abundant monoatomic sites for pollutant degradation.

RESUMO

We prepared the ß-lactoglobulin (BLG)-ferulic acid (FA)-glucose (Glu) conjugates by alkaline method and Maillard reaction to assess the allergenicity. FA and Glu can form a ternary covalent conjugate with BLG, as evidenced by the shortening of SEC retention time, upward migration of SDS-PAGE protein bands, considerable decrease in free amino and sulfhydryl content, and changes in multistructure. BLG-Glu-FA conjugates weakly bound to immunoglobulin E in allergic sera was weak, reduced interleukin 4 and tumor necrosis factor α levels in RBL-2H3 cells and histamin and interleukin 6 secretion levels in KU812 cells, and inhibited the nuclear factor-κB signaling pathway. In vivo experiments showed that the conjugates regulated T-cell homeostasis in mouse splenic and mesenteric lymphocytes and attenuated splenic and duodenal immune injury. Therefore, the conjugates of BLG with FA combined with Glu altered the epitope structure and exhibited low allergenicity.

RESUMO

Following the publication of this paper, it was drawn to the Editor's attention by a concerned reader that the certain of the cell proliferation assay data shown in Fig. 4C on p. 1444 were strikingly similar to data appearing in different form in another article written by different authors at different research institutes, which had already been submitted for publication [Shi N, Shan B, Song Y, Chu H and Qian L: Circular RNA circPRKCI functions as a competitive endogenous RNA to regulate AKT3 expression by sponging miR36803p in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. J Cell Biochem 120: 1002110030, 2019]. Owing to the fact that the contentious data in the above article were already under consideration for publication prior to its submission to Molecular Medicine Reports, the Editor has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal. The authors were asked for an explanation to account for these concerns, but the Editorial Office did not receive a reply. The Editor apologizes to the readership for any inconvenience caused.
