RESUMO

Cadmium contamination inevitably affects the microbially mediated transformation of nitrogen in soils with wheat straw return. The responses of nitrogen functional microorganisms to cadmium in acidic and alkaline soils under wheat straw returned are still unclear. In this study, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and sequencing of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria were performed to investigate the effects of wheat straw application on nitrogen conversion in different Cd-contaminated soils during an incubation experiment. Results showed that the presence of Cd decreased the abundance of hao gene catalyzing nitrification and norB gene catalyzing denitrification process, resulting the accumulation of NH4+-N and reduction of NO3--N in the acidic soils. Additionally, Cd-contamination stimulates the nitrification catalyzed by bacterial amoA gene and thus reduced the NH4+-N content in the alkaline soils. Meanwhile, Cd dominated the decrease of NO3--N content by promoting denitrification process catalyzed by nirS gene. Among all nitrifying and denitrifying microorganisms, Nitrosospira are tolerant to Cd stress under alkaline condition but sensitive to acidic condition, which dominantly harbored hao gene in the acidic soils and bacterial amoA gene in the alkaline soils. This study aimed to provide reasonable information for the rational adoption of wheat straw returning strategies to realize nitrogen regulation in Cd-contaminated farmland soil.

BACKGROUND: Postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and costly complication after non-cardiac surgery. Patients with or without diabetes could develop hyperglycemia before surgery, and preoperative hyperglycemia was closely associated with postoperative poor outcomes, but the association between preoperative fasting blood glucose level and postoperative AKI is still unclear. METHODS: Data from patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery in Chongqing University Cancer Hospital from January 1, 2017, to May 31, 2023, were collected, preoperative glucose value and perioperative variables were extracted, the primary exposure of interest was preoperative glucose value, and the outcome was postoperative AKI. RESULTS: Data from 39,986 patients were included in the final analysis, 741(1.9%) patients developed AKI, 134(5.6%) in the cohort with DM, and 607(1.6%) in the cohort without DM(OR 1.312, 95% CI 1.028-1.675, P = 0.029). A significant non-linear association between preoperative glucose and AKI exists in the cohort without DM after covariable adjustment (P = 0.000), and every 1 mmol/L increment of preoperative glucose level increased OR by 15% (adjusted OR 1.150, 95% CI 1.078-1.227, P = 0.000), the optimal cut-point of preoperative fasting glucose level to predict AKI was 5.39 mmol/L (adjusted OR 1.802, 95%CI 1.513-2.146, P = 0.000). However, in the cohort with DM, the relation between preoperative glucose and postoperative AKI was not significant after adjusting by covariables (P = 0.437). No significance exists between both cohorts in the risk of AKI over the range of preoperative glucose values. CONCLUSION: A preoperative fasting glucose value of 5.39 mmol/L can predict postoperative acute kidney injury after non-cardiac surgery in patients without diagnosed diabetes, but it is not related to AKI in patients with the diagnosis.

Although nanozymes sensor arrays have the potential to recognize multiple target substances simultaneously, they currently rarely identify phenolic acids in food due to limited catalytic performance and complex preparation conditions of nanozymes. Here, inspired by the structure of polyphenol oxidase, we have successfully prepared a novel gallic acid-Cu (GA-Cu) nanozyme with laccase-like activity. Due to the different catalytic efficiency of GA-Cu nanozymes towards six common phenolic acids, a three-channel colorimetric sensor array was constructed using reaction kinetics as the sensing unit to achieve high-throughput detection and identification of six phenolic acids within a concentration range from 1 to 100 µM. This method avoids the creation of numerous sensing units. Notably, the successful discrimination of six phenolic acids in samples of juice, beer, and wine has been achieved by the sensor array. Finally, aided by smartphones, a portable technique has been devised for the detection of phenolic acids.

Myofibrillogenesis regulator-1 (MR-1) is a multifunctional protein involved in the development of various human tumors. The study is the first to report the promoting effect of MR-1 on the development and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). MR-1 is upregulated in NSCLC and positively associated with poor prognosis. The overexpression of MR-1 promotes the metastasis of NSCLC cells by stabilizing the expression of Notch3-ICD (NICD3) in the cytoplasm through enrichment analysis, in vitro and in vivo experimental researches. And Notch3 signaling can upregulate many genes related to metastasis. The stabilizing effect of MR-1 on NICD3 is achieved through the mono-ubiquitin lysosomal pathway and the specific E3 ubiquitin ligase is Itchy homolog (ITCH). There is a certain interaction between MR-1 and NICD3. Elevated MR-1 can affect the level of ITCH phosphorylation, reduce its E3 enzyme activity, and thus lead to reduce the ubiquitination and degradation of NICD3. Interference with the interaction between MR-1 and NICD3 can increase the degradation of NICD3 and impair the metastatic ability of NSCLC cells, which is a previously overlooked treatment option in NSCLC. In summary, interference with the interaction between MR-1 and NICD3 in the progression of lung cancer may be a promising therapeutic target.

Background: Noradrenaline (NA) is commonly used intraoperatively to prevent fluid overload and maintain hemodynamic stability. Clinical studies provided inconsistent results concerning the effect of NA on postoperative outcomes. As aging is accompanied with various diseases and has the high possibility of the risk for postoperative complications, we hypothesized that intraoperative NA infusion in older adult patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgeries might potentially exert adverse outcomes. Methods: In this retrospective propensity score-matched cohort study, older adult patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgeries were selected, 1837 receiving NA infusion during surgery, and 1072 not receiving NA. The propensity score matching was conducted with a 1:1 ratio and 1072 patients were included in each group. The primary outcomes were postoperative in-hospital mortality and complications. Results: Intraoperative NA administration reduced postoperative urinary tract infection (OR:0.124, 95% CI:0.016-0.995), and had no effect on other postoperative complications and mortality, it reduced intraoperative crystalloid infusion (OR:0.999, 95% CI:0.999-0.999), blood loss (OR: 0.998, 95% CI: 0.998-0.999), transfusion (OR:0.327, 95% CI: 0.218-0.490), but increased intraoperative lactate production (OR:1.354, 95% CI:1.051-1.744), and hospital stay (OR:1.019, 95% CI:1.008-1.029). Conclusion: Intraoperative noradrenaline administration reduces postoperative urinary tract infection, and does not increase other postoperative complications and mortality, and can be safely used in older adult patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgeries.

Resveratrol (RSV), a polyphenol, is known to have a wide range of pharmacological properties in vitro. RSV may have therapeutic value for various neurodegenerative diseases via neuroprotective effects. However, it is not yet clear whether RSV can induce intestinal-brain interactions. It is assumed that the intestinal cells may secrete some factors after being stimulated by other substances. These secreted factors may activate nerve cells through gut-brain interaction, such as exosomes. In this study, it was discovered that Caco-2 cells treated with RSV secrete exosomes to activate SH-SY5Y neuronal cells. The results showed that secreted factors from RSV-treated Caco-2 cells activated SH-SY5Y. The exosomes of RSV-treated Caco-2 cells activated SH-SY5Y cells, which was manifested in the lengthening of the nerve filaments of SH-SY5Y cells. The exosomes were characterized using transmission electron microscopy and sequenced using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 sequencer. The results showed that the miRNA expression profile of exosomes after RSV treatment changed, and twenty-six kinds of miRNAs were identified which expressed differentially between the control group and the RSV-treated group. Among them, three miRNAs were selected as candidate genes for inducing SH-SY5Y neural cell activation. Three miRNA mimics could activate SH-SY5Y neurons. These results suggested that the miRNA in intestinal exocrine cells treated with RSV may play an important role in the activation of SH-SY5Y neurons.

In order to investigate the structural characteristics and immunomodulatory effects of Poria cocos polysaccharides, a water-soluble homogeneous polysaccharide (PCP-2) was isolated by water extraction and alcohol precipitation and further purified by Cellulose DEAE-52 and Sephacryl S-100HR column chromatography. PCP-2 is a heteropolysaccharide composed of glucose, galactose, mannose, and fucose in a molar ratio of 42.0: 35.0: 13.9: 9.1. It exhibits a narrow molecular weight distribution at 2.35 kDa with a branching degree of 37.1 %. The main chain types of PCP-2 include 1,3-ß-D-Glc and 1,6-ß-D-Glc as the backbone glucans and 1,6-α-D-Gal as the backbone heterogalactan. In vitro experiments demonstrate that PCP-2 directly stimulate RAW264.7 cell proliferation and secretion of inflammatory factors such as NO and TNF-α. In cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced mice, it promotes the development of thymus and spleen immune organs, elevates the blood levels of IgG, IgA, IgM and CD3+CD4+ T cells, increases the intestinal villus height/ crypt depth ratio and improves gut barrier dysfunctions. These findings suggest that PCP-2 is a natural fungal polysaccharide with broad spectrum of immunoenhancing effects, which can significantly ameliorate the immunocompromised state.

Although the research on nanozymes has attracted widespread attention in recent years, the development of highly active and multifunctional nanozymes remains a challenge. Here, a bifunctional AMP-Cu nanozyme with laccase- and catecholase-like activities was successfully prepared at room temperature with Cu2+ as the metal ion and adenosine-5'-monophosphate (AMP) as the ligand molecule. Based on the excellent catalytic performance of AMP-Cu, a three-channel colorimetric sensor array was constructed using reaction kinetics as the sensing unit to achieve high-throughput detection and identification of six common phenolic compounds at low concentrations. This strategy simplifies the construction of sensor array and demonstrates the capacity to obtain multidimensional data from a single material. Finally, with the assistance of smartphones and homemade dark boxes, a portable on-site detection method for phenolic compounds was developed. This work would contribute to the development of portable sensors and the highly efficient identification of phenolic compounds in complex samples.

Background: The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of Gastrokine-1 (GKN1) is associated with lung cancer but its association with prognosis is not clear. Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from the blood samples of 888 patients with lung cancer. The association between GKN1 polymorphism rs4254535 and prognostic was analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier (KM) method, Log-rank test, and Cox proportional hazards model. Results: In females and patients diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer, the CC genotype (CC vs TT, adjusted odds ratio [HR] = 0.57, 95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 0.33-0.99, P = 0.045; HR = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.48-0.92, P = 0.014) and recessive CC genotype (CC vs TT + TC, HR = 0.55, 95% CI: 0.32-0.94, P = 0.028; HR = 0.64, 95% CI: 0.47-0.89, P = 0.006) of rs4254535 conferred a better prognosis, compared with the TT and TT + TC genotype. Rs4254535 dominate TC + CC genotype, recessive CC genotype, and C allele who were adenocarcinoma patients had a significantly better prognosis. The recessive CC genotype of non-smoking patients has a better prognosis, compared to the TT + TC genotype. Additionally, in the dominant TT + TC genotype and C allele, no family history patients had a significantly better prognosis, compared to the TT genotype. Conclusion: For lung cancer patients, GKN1 polymorphism rs4254535 may be a protective genetic marker and predicts the prognosis of lung cancer patients.

Urate transporter 1 (URAT1) is a clinically validated target for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. Due to the absence of protein structures, the molecular design of new URAT1 inhibitors generally resorts to ligand-based approaches. Two series of biphenyl carboxylic acids were designed based on the structures of URAT1 inhibitors Epaminurad and Telmisartan via a strategy of pharmacophore fusion. Fifty-one novel compounds were synthesized and most of them showed obvious inhibition against human URAT1. A1 and B21 were identified as the most potent URAT1 inhibitors in series A and B, respectively. They exhibited IC50 values of 0.93 µM and 0.17 µM, which were comparable or superior to the clinical uricosuric drug benzbromarone. The results confirmed the effectiveness of ligand-based approaches in identifying novel and potent URAT1 inhibitors.

The immunoproteasome has emerged as a potential therapeutic target for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We report herein our efforts to discover novel non-peptidic immunoproteasome inhibitors as potential treatment for IPF. A structure-based virtual screening was initially performed and the hit compound VS-7 with an IC50 of 9.437 µM against ß5i was identified. Hit evolution based on the interaction mode of VS-7 proceeded, and a potent ß5i inhibitor 54 (IC50 = 8.463 nM) with favorable subunit-selective profiles was obtained. Compound 54 also imposed significant effects on the release of TNF-α and IL-6, the transcriptional activity of NF-κB, as well as TGF-ß1 induced fibroblast proliferation, activation and collagen synthesis. Notably, when administered at 30 mg/kg in a bleomycin-induced IPF mouse model, compound 54 showed anti-fibrotic effects comparable to the clinical drug nintedanib. The results suggest that selective inhibition of immunoproteasome could be an effective approach to treat IPF.

BACKGROUND: Osteoporosis (OP) is considered as one of the major comorbidities of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and is responsible for fragility fracture. However, there is currently no effective treatment for RA complicated with OP. Tubson-2 decoction (TBD), a Mongolian medicine also known as Erwei Duzhong Decoction, has been shown to exert a preventive effect on post-menopausal osteoporosis (PMOP). The preventive effects of TBD on RA-induced OP, as well as the bioactive compound responsible and the underlying mechanisms, remain to be elucidated. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of TBD on RA-induced OP in vivo, and to elucidate the mechanism of isochlorogenic acid A (ICA), the effective component of TBD, in vitro. METHODS: To evaluate the anti-arthritic and anti-osteoporotic effects of TBD, we conducted H&E straining and safranine O/fast green, TEM, immunohistochemistry (IHC), bone histomorphometry, micro-CT imaging, and biomechanical testing in collagen induced arthritis (CIA) rats. The active ingredient in TBD was identified using network pharmacology and molecular docking. The identification was supported by in vivo IHC assay, and further confirmed using qRT-PCR, Western blot, and SEM analysis in TNF-α-treated MH7A cells and/or in LPS-exposed RAW264.7 cells. RESULTS: Oral administration of TBD attenuated the severity of arthritis and osteopenia as well as poor bone quality, in CIA rats. Additionally, TBD and the positive control, tripterygium glycosides (TG), exhibited similar effects in reducing inflammation in both the synovium and ankle joint. They also were both effective in improving bone loss, microarchitecture, and overall bone quality. TBD reduced the expression of MMP13, IL-17, and p-JNK protein in the synovium of CIA rats. ICA, which was screened, suppressed TNF-α or LPS-triggered inflammatory responses via down-regulating IL-17 signaling, involving in MMP13, IL-1ß, IL-23, and IL-17, and the MAPK pathway including p-ERK, p-JNK, and p-P38, both in MH7A cells and in RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, ICA prevented osteoclasts from differentiating and bone resoprtion in a dose-dependent manner in vitro. CONCLUSION: This study provides the first evidence that TBD exerts intervening effects on RA-induced OP, possibly through the downregulation of the IL-17/MAPK signaling pathway by ICA. The findings of our study provides valuable insights for further research in this area.

Resveratrol has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-aging pharmacological activities. There is currently a gap in academic research regarding the uptake, transport, and reduction of H2O2-induced oxidative damage of resveratrol in the Caco-2 cell model. This study investigated the role of resveratrol in the uptake, transport, and alleviation of H2O2-induced oxidative damage in Caco-2 cells. In the Caco-2 cell transport model, it was observed that the uptake and transport of resveratrol (10, 20, 40, and 80 µM) were time dependent and concentration dependent. Different temperatures (37 °C vs. 4 °C) could significantly affect the uptake and transportation of resveratrol. The apical to basolateral transport of resveratrol was markedly reduced by STF-31, a GLUT1 inhibitor, and siRNA intervention. Furthermore, resveratrol pretreatment (80 µM) improves the viability of Caco-2 cells induced by H2O2. In a cellular metabolite analysis combined with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, 21 metabolites were identified as differentials. These differential metabolites belong to the urea cycle, arginine and proline metabolism, glycine and serine metabolism, ammonia recycling, aspartate metabolism, glutathione metabolism, and other metabolic pathways. The transport, uptake, and metabolism of resveratrol suggest that oral resveratrol could prevent intestinal diseases caused by oxidative stress.

BACKGROUND: Skeletal muscle atrophy in chronic kidney disease (CKD) leads to a decline in quality of life and increased risk of morbidity and mortality. We have obtained evidence that oxidative stress is essential in the progression of CKD-related muscle atrophy. Whether Saikosaponin A and D, two emerging antioxidants extracted from Bupleurum chinense DC, alleviate muscle atrophy remains to be further studied. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and mechanisms of these two components on CKD complicated with muscle atrophy. METHODS: In this research, muscle dystrophy model was established using 5/6 nephrectomized mice in vivo and in vitro with Dexamethasone (Dex)-managed C2C12 myotubes. RESULTS: The results of RNA-sequencing showed that exposure to Dex affected the antioxidant activity, catalytic activity and enzyme regulator activity of C2C12 cells. According to KEGG analysis, the largest numbers of differentially expressed genes detected were enriched in the PI3K/AKT pathway. In vivo, Saikosaponin A and D remain renal function, cross-section size, fiber-type composition and anti-inflammatory ability. These two components suppressed the expression of MuRF-1 and enhanced the expression of MyoD and Dystrophin. In addition, Saikosaponin A and D maintained redox balance by increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes while inhibiting the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species. Furthermore, Saikosaponin A and D stimulated PI3K/AKT and its downstream Nrf2 pathway in CKD mice. The effects of Saikosaponin A and D on increasing the inner diameter of C2C12 myotube, reducing oxidative stress and enhancing expression of p-AKT, p-mTOR, p70S6K, Nrf2 and HO-1 proteins were observed in vitro. Importantly, we verified that these protective effects could be significantly reversed by inhibiting PI3K and knocking out Nrf2. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, Saikosaponin A and D improve CKD-induced muscle atrophy by reducing oxidative stress through the PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 pathway.

Lymphoblastic lymphoma (LBL) is a rare tumor that accounts for approximately 2-4% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas, and less than 20% of LBLs are derived from B cells. B- Lymphoblastic lymphoma (B-LBL) often presents as bone marrow and peripheral blood lesions, and is very rare to present as a seller mass. We report a case of sellar B lymphoblastic lymphoma mimicking pituitary apoplexy, and review its diagnosis and treatment process, combined with the literature to deepen the understanding of sellar tumors.

Aim: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease whose patients suffered from cognitive impairments. In our study, a novel 1,2,4-Oxadiazole derivative wyc-7-20 was synthesized, which showed low cytotoxicity and potent neuroprotective effect at the cellular level. Improved cognitive impairments, ß-amyloid (Aß) clearance, and tau pathological phenotypes were detected in transgenic animal models after wyc-7-20 treatment. Reversed expressions in AD-related genes were also detected. The results demonstrated wyc-7-20 was potent in AD therapy. Purpose: The pathological complexity of AD increased difficulties in medical research. To explore a new potential medical treatment for AD, a novel 1,2,4-Oxadiazole derivative (wyc-7-20) was designed, synthesized to explore the application in this study. Materials and Methods: Human neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y) cells and human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells were used to detect median lethal dose (LD50). H2O2 and Aß1-42 oligomers (AßOs) were respectively, added into SH-SY5Y cells to detect anti-ROS (reactive oxygen species) and anti-AßOs effects of wyc-7-20. 3×Tg mice were administered with wyc-7-20, and then Y maze test and Morris water maze (MWM) test were applied to detect cognitive improvements. Brain tissue samples were subsequently collected and analyzed using different techniques. Results: wyc-7-20 showed low cytotoxicity and potent neuroprotective effect at the cellular level. Improved cognitive impairments, Aß clearance, and tau pathological phenotypes were detected in transgenic animal models after wyc-7-20 treatment. OBJECTIVES: To develop and validate a nomogram for predicting postoperative pulmonary infection (PPI) in patients undergoing lung surgery. DESIGN: Single-center retrospective cohort analysis. SETTING: A university-affiliated cancer hospital PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1,501 adult patients who underwent lung surgery from January 2018 to December 2020. INTERVENTIONS: Observation for PPI within 7 days after lung surgery. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: A complete set of demographics, preoperative variables, and postoperative follow-up data was recorded. The primary outcome was PPI; a total of 125 (8.3%) out of 1,501 patients developed PPI. The variables with p < 0.1 in univariate logistic regression were included in the multivariate regression, and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that surgical procedure, surgical duration, the inspired fraction of oxygen in one-lung ventilation, and postoperative pain were independent risk factors for PPI. A nomogram based on these factors was constructed in the development cohort (area under the curve: 0.794, 95% CI 0.744-0.845) and validated in the validation cohort (area under the curve: 0.849, 95% CI 0.786-0.912). The calibration slope was 1 in the development and validation cohorts. Decision curve analysis indicated that when the threshold probability was within a range of 0.02-to-0.58 and 0.02-to-0.42 for the development and validation cohorts, respectively, the nomogram model could provide a clinical net benefit. CONCLUSIONS: The authors developed and validated a nomogram for predicting PPI in patients undergoing lung surgery. The prediction model can predict the development of PPI and identify high-risk groups.

Aspirin eugenol ester (AEE) was a novel drug compound with aspirin and eugenol esterified. AEE had various pharmacological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-oxidative stress and so on. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of AEE on the acute lung injury (ALI) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rats. In vitro experiments evaluated the protective effect of AEE on the LPS-induced A549 cells. The tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) were measured in the cell supernatant. The Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups (n = 8): control group, model group (LPS group), LPS + AEE group (AEE, 54 mg·kg-1), LPS + AEE group (AEE, 108 mg·kg-1), LPS + AEE group (AEE, 216 mg·kg-1). The lung wet-to-dry weight (W/D) ratio and immune organ index were calculated. WBCs were counted in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and total protein concentration was measured. Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining of lung tissue was performed. Glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase (CAT), antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), C-reactive protein (CRP), myeloperoxidase (MPO), malondialdehyde (MDA), macrophage mobility inhibitory factor (MIF), TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß activity were measured. The metabolomic analysis of rat serum was performed by UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS. From the results, compared with LPS group, AEE improved histopathological changes, reduced MDA, CRP, MPO, MDA, and MIF production, decreased WBC count and total protein content in BALF, pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, immune organ index and lung wet-dry weight (W/D), increased antioxidant enzyme activity, in a dose-dependent manner. The results of serum metabolomic analysis showed that the LPS-induced ALI caused metabolic disorders and oxidative stress in rats, while AEE could ameliorate it to some extent. Therefore, AEE could alleviate LPS-induced ALI in rats by regulating abnormal inflammatory responses, slowing down oxidative stress, and modulating energy metabolism.

Most ocular diseases observed with cataract, chlamydia trachomatis, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis, have their associations with environmental exposures, lifestyle, and habits, making their distribution has certain temporal and spatial features based essentially on epidemiology. Spatial epidemiology focuses on the use of geographic information systems (GIS), global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), and spatial analysis to map spatial distribution as well as change the tendency of diseases and investigate the health services status of populations. Recently, the spatial epidemic approach has been applied in the field of ophthalmology, which provides many valuable key messages on ocular disease prevention and control. This work briefly reviewed the context of spatial epidemiology and summarized its progress in the analysis of spatiotemporal distribution, non-monitoring area data estimation, influencing factors of ocular diseases, and allocation and utilization of eye health resources, to provide references for its application in the prevention and control of ocular diseases in the future.

This study investigated the structure of fungal and bacterial communities in different types of Cd-contaminated soils. The results showed that obvious variations in microbial structure between contaminated alkaline soils and acidic soils. Proteobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Bacteroidetes and Basidiomycota dominated the studied communities in the alkaline soils, whereas Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Firmicutes, Acidobacteria, Saccharibacteria and Ascomycota were more abundant in the acidic soils. Additionally, Cd tolerant (Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Ascomycota) and sensitive (Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, Basidiomycota) in alkaline soils and JL-soils, Cd tolerant (Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, Basidiomycota) and sensitive (Saccharibacteria, Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Ascomycota, Mucoromycota) in the acidic soils were identified. Redundancy analysis and correlation analysis demonstrated that it was significantly affected by different environment parameters in alkaline soils and acidic soils. Varied bacterial community structures in all soils were dominantly influenced by pH and SOM. The similarities among different groups indicated the effect of soil type on microbial community structure was greater than that of Cd level. The above conclusions may provide a new perspective for the bio-remediation of Cd in different types of soils.
