INTRODUCTION: Appendicitis is a common cause of acute abdomen. Rarely, it may form adhesions to nearby structures, complicating surgeries, especially when involving vascular structures such as the internal iliac artery, potentially causing severe intraoperative hemorrhage. CASE PRESENTATION: A 65-year-old Middle Eastern male presented with abdominal pain and anorexia for 5 days. Examination and imaging confirmed acute appendicitis with complications. Additionally, a large pelvic mass was noted. During surgery, severe bleeding was encountered due to an adhesion between the appendix and the right internal iliac artery, managed by ligating the artery. The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis. CONCLUSION: This case highlights a rare vascular complication of appendectomy due to abnormal adhesions between the appendix and the internal iliac artery, associated with a large pelvic mass. This study emphasizes the need for thorough preoperative evaluation and careful surgical planning in patients with unusual anatomical variations or specific underlying conditions such as neurofibromatosis. Early recognition and strategic management of vascular adhesions are essential to optimize patient outcomes in appendectomies complicated by such rare scenarios.

Infertility affects millions of couples worldwide and can result from various factors, including sexually transmitted infections. Although syphilis is known to contribute to a small number of infertility cases through chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, which ultimately impairs fertility, detailed descriptions of such cases are limited. In this report, we present a case of primary infertility caused by extensive peritoneal granulomatous inflammation, adhesions, and tubal obstruction resulting from syphilis.

Peritoneal adhesions commonly occur following abdominal or pelvic surgery and can cause serious complications. Currently, physical barriers are the primary approach used in clinical practice to prevent adhesion, although their effectiveness is frequently inadequate. In this study, we developed an injectable peptide-loaded hydrogel with multiple functions, including self-fusion, tissue-adhesiveness, anti-inflammation, anti-cell adhesion and anti-angiogenesis. To assess the effectiveness of these hydrogels, which are stabilized by dynamic imine bonds and acetal connections, in preventing postoperative abdominal adhesions, we utilized both a rat abdominal adhesion model and a rat model simulating repeated-injury adhesions. In comparison to the commercially available HA hydrogel, as-prepared hydrogels exhibited significant reductions in inflammation, fibrosis, and angiogenesis, leading to an obvious decrease in peritoneal adhesions. Moreover, this peptide-loaded hydrogel demonstrated an ideal degradation time, maintaining an in vivo viability for about 10 days. We believe this peptide-loaded hydrogel presents a promising solution for the challenging clinical issue of postoperative abdominal adhesions.

Mutated KRAS serves as the oncogenic driver in 30% of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) and is associated with metastatic and therapy-resistant tumors. Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) acts as a mediator in sustaining KRAS-driven lung tumors, and although FAK inhibitors are currently undergoing clinical development, clinical data indicated that their efficacy in producing long-term anti-tumor responses is limited. Here we revealed two FAK interactors, extracellular-signal-regulated kinase 5 (ERK5) and cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5), as key players underlying FAK-mediated maintenance of KRAS mutant NSCLC. Inhibition of ERK5 and CDK5 synergistically suppressed FAK function, decreased proliferation and induced apoptosis owing to exacerbated ROS-induced DNA damage. Accordingly, concomitant pharmacological inhibition of ERK5 and CDK5 in a mouse model of KrasG12D-driven lung adenocarcinoma suppressed tumor progression and promoted cancer cell death. Cancer cells resistant to FAK inhibitors showed enhanced ERK5-FAK signaling dampening DNA damage. Notably, ERK5 inhibition prevented the development of resistance to FAK inhibitors, significantly enhancing the efficacy of anti-tumor responses. Therefore, we propose ERK5 inhibition as a potential co-targeting strategy to counteract FAK inhibitor resistance in NSCLC.

Adhesions arising from gynecologic surgeries and cesarean sections pose substantial clinical, social, and economic challenges, leading to issues like pelvic pain, infertility, bowel obstruction, and recurring surgeries. Preventing adhesions is a pressing unmet need, hindered by difficulties in assessing postoperative adhesions and understanding barriers. To bridge adhesion prevention gaps, statements on clinical practices were synthesized to present Asia-Pacific expert perspectives on gynecologic surgery and cesarean section adhesion prevention. An expert panel of eight physicians from various healthcare settings in the Asia-Pacific region was convened and a comprehensive literature search on topics related to adhesion prevention in gynecologic surgeries and cesarean sections was performed. Information from full-text publications was used to develop draft consensus statements, with each statement assigned the highest available evidence level based on a systematic literature review and graded using the Oxford Center for Evidence-based Medicine criteria. A modified Delphi process, involving two rounds of online voting and discussions with an extended group of 109 experts, was employed to reach a consensus on six topics related to adhesion barriers. A set of 15 consensus statements were synthesized. Key topics include adhesion incidence in Asia, cesarean section complications, barrier application status, adhesion formation and prevention, absorbable barriers' effectiveness, recommendations, and future considerations. The statements provide guidance for healthcare professionals, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, to tackle the challenges posed by postoperative adhesions and improve patient outcomes. Further research is needed to enhance understanding and prevention of adhesions in this region.

The maintenance of homeostasis and the retention of ordered epithelial cell self-organization are essential for morphogenesis, wound healing, and the spread of cancer across the epithelium. However, cell-cell interactions in an overcrowded environment introduce a diversity of complications. Such interactions arise from an interplay between the cell compressive and shear stress components that accompany increased cell packing density. They can lead to various kinds of cell rearrangement such as: the epithelial-to-mesenchymal cell state transition; live cell extrusion; and cell jamming. All of these scenarios of cell rearrangement under mechanical stress relate to changes in the strengths of the cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion contacts. The objective of this review study is twofold: first, to provide a comprehensive summary of the biological and physical factors influencing the effects of cell mechanical stress on cell-cell interactions, and the consequences of these interactions for the status of cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion contacts; and secondly, to offer a bio-physical/mathematical analysis of the aforementioned biological aspects. By presenting these two approaches in conjunction, we seek to highlight the intricate nature of biological systems, which manifests in the form of complex bio-physical/mathematical equations. Furthermore, the juxtaposition of these apparently disparate approaches underscores the importance of conducting experiments to determine the multitude of parameters that contribute to the development of these intricate bio-physical/mathematical models.

Post-operative intra-abdominal adhesions, significantly affecting testicular tissue, are a prevalent and serious complication following laparoscopic surgery. This study investigated the efficacy of boric acid, known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties, in preventing post-operative testicular adhesions. Forty rats, were divided into four groups: control, laparoscopy (LA), boric acid (BA), and LA + BA. Following laparoscopic surgery, BA treatment was administered for seven days. While the adhesion score was around 3 in the LA group, it was 1 or below in the LA + BA group. Testicular tissues were examined by histopathological and biochemical methods. In testis tissues, in the LA group, malondialdehyde (MDA) levels increased while superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) levels decreased; these parameters normalized with BA treatment. Additionally, the LA group exhibited reduced levels of IL-10, Bcl-2, Kisspeptin-1, and GnRH, alongside elevated levels of inflammatory markers IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, JNK, BAX, and Caspase 3. BA treatment significantly restored these levels to normal. In conclusion, oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in testicular tissues were associated with post-operative testicular adhesions. BA demonstrated potential as an anti-adhesive agent, reducing testicular adhesions and normalizing biochemical and histological parameters following laparoscopic surgery.

Postoperative adhesions commonly form in various tissues, resulting in serious implications and an increased risk of secondary surgery. The application of anti-adhesion films as physical barriers has proven effective in reducing adhesion incidence and severity. However, existing anti-adhesion films require manual deployment during minimally invasive surgery, posing inconvenience and possibility of further injury. To address these limitations, we have developed an intelligent anti-adhesion film based on shape memory polyurethane. In this work, a linear shape memory polyurethane (ISO2-PU), incorporating hexamethylene isocyanate and isosorbitol as hard segments and poly(D, L-lactic acid) macrodiol as soft segments, was fabricated into an anti-adhesion film. The favorable shape memory effect of the ISO2-PU film ensures its convenient delivery and automatic unfolding, as revealed by a simulation experiment for endoscopic surgical implantation. Furthermore, the glass transition temperature (Tg) close to body temperature endows the ISO2-PU film with good mechanical compliance, thus ensuring a reliable fit with the wounded tissue to avoid undesired folding. Finally, in vivo experiments using a rat cecal abdominal wall injury model demonstrated that the combination of reliable fit, appropriate degradation rate, and good cytocompatibility promises the ISO2-PU film with high anti-adhesion efficacy. This work validates the concept of shape memory anti-adhesion barrier and expands future directions for advanced anti-adhesion biomaterials. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Postoperative adhesions are a common complication that occurs widely after various surgeries. This work developed an intelligent anti-adhesion film based on a linear shape memory polyurethane (ISO2-PU). This film is featured with remarkable shape memory effect and mechanical compliance at body temperature, appropriate degradability, and good cytocompatibility. These merits ensure convenient delivery and smart unfolding of ISO2-PU film during minimally invasive surgery and favorable postoperative anti-adhesion efficacy. The results validate the concept of shape memory anti-adhesion barrier and paves a way for designing next-generation anti-adhesion biomaterials.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has become an established treatment modality for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in recent years, though catheter dysfunction remains a common issue, often due to adhesions or migration. Laparoscopic surgery is an effective method for addressing these problems with precision and minimal trauma. A rare cause of catheter dysfunction is fimbriae adhesions, where the fimbriae of the fallopian tubes obstruct the catheter. We present a case of a 23-year-old woman with ESKD who transitioned to PD, complicated by catheter blockage within days. Radiographs suggested adhesions and diagnostic laparoscopy revealed fimbriae entangling the catheter. Laparoscopic adhesiolysis and catheter replacement were performed, with the fallopian tubes secured to the ipsilateral ovary to prevent recurrence. Post-surgery, catheter function was restored, and an 18-month follow-up showed no complications. This case highlights the importance of considering fertility preservation in cases of fimbrial adhesions and underscores the value of laparoscopic intervention.

INTRODUCTION: Liraglutide has shown promising results in the field of bariatric surgery, preparing patients for surgery. However, chronic therapy is often correlated with gastrointestinal disorders, such as subclinical pancreatitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of intraoperative adhesions and post-operative complications in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) with or without prior therapy with liraglutide. METHODS: Clinical records of patients affected by obesity who underwent LSG between March 2017 and October 2022 were retrospectively reviewed using a prospectively maintained database. Patients were separated into two groups: those managed with preoperative liraglutide for 24 weeks prior to LSG, and those without prior medical therapy. Demographic data, operative time, intraoperative adhesions, and postoperative complications were reported and compared between two groups. RESULTS: Ninety-three patients underwent LSG without prior medical therapy, while 87 were treated with liraglutide before surgery. There were no significant differences in terms of gender, age, and comorbidities. After treatment with liraglutide, weight (117 vs 109 kg) and BMI (45 vs 42.2 kg/m2) were statistically lower than the group with no prior treatment to surgery. Thirty-two (37%) patients of the group treated with liraglutide had intraoperative adhesion vs nine (10%) patients of the control group (p < 0.005). There were no differences recorded between the two groups concerning post-operative complications. CONCLUSION: Liraglutide has introduced a new way to treat obesity, improving weight loss and comorbidities. Gastrointestinal disorders, such as subclinical pancreatitis, associated with GLP-1 analogue could explain the elevated incidence of intraoperative adhesions during bariatric surgery.

BACKGROUND: Transcervical resection of adhesions (TCRA) is the standard treatment for intrauterine adhesion (IUA). Previous studies have shown that postoperative oral estrogen or an intrauterine physical barrier could reduce the recurrence of IUA by promoting the proliferation of the endometrium or inhibiting the reformation of adhesions. Our team designed an intrauterine stent that can release estrogen within the uterine cavity slowly. In this study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of the estrogen-releasing intrauterine system in preventing the recurrence of moderate to severe IUA. METHODS: This was a multicenter prospective randomized controlled 2-arm parallel trial that included patients who were diagnosed with moderate to severe IUA and who received TCRA. A total of 250 patients were randomly assigned, at a 1:1 ratio, to receive the intrauterine estrogen-releasing system or a Foley catheter balloon combined with oral estrogen therapy after surgery. The primary outcome was the rate of adhesion reduction in the two groups. The secondary outcomes included endometrial thickness at the ovulation period, menstrual improvement rates, and other reported adverse events during follow-up. RESULTS: The average daily drug release amount for all the tested stents was 0.21 mg/day. At 60 days postoperatively, the rate of adhesion reduction was significantly greater in the experimental group than in the control group (93.33% vs. 58.56%, p < 0.001). The endometrium of the experimental group was thicker than that of the control group (p < 0.001). Consistently, the rate of improvement in menstruation was greater in the experimental group than in the control group (p = 0.010). No grade 3-4 adverse events were found in the two groups during the 1-year follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: In the cohort of patients with moderate to severe IUA, the intrauterine estrogen-releasing system was more effective at reducing adhesion than traditional oral estrogen combined with an intrauterine Foley catheter after TCRA. This novel intrauterine system provides a new option for the management of IUA after surgery. TRIAL REGISTRATION: The registration number is NCT04972032. Date of registration: August 15, 2021.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the reproductive outcomes after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis in patients experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) combined with intrauterine adhesions (IUA). DESIGN: Single-center retrospective cohort study. SETTING: International referral hospital for women with IUA and RPL. PATIENTS: Between January 2018 and June 2022, a cohort of 64 women diagnosed with RPL and IUA were studied, with a follow-up period of at least one year after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. INTERVENTIONS: All patients had a diagnosis of IUA from the diagnostic hysteroscopy and were treated with hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, utilizing intraoperative ultrasound monitoring as required. MAIN MEASUREMENTS: Live birth rate and menstrual pattern change (subjective assessment) after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. RESULTS: In our cohort, 59.38% (38/64) achieved pregnancy following hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, with 92.11% (35/38) conceiving within two years of the procedure. The miscarriage rate was recorded at 17.19% (11/64), and the live birth rate stood at 42.19% (27/64). Throughout the extended follow-up period, 64.06% (41/64) of the patients reported increased menstrual blood volume and improvements in menstrual patterns post-hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. Univariate analysis indicated that being aged ≥35 years (P=.026), having a history of infertility (P=.003), the presence of moderate or severe IUA (P=.023), and experiencing menstrual improvements post-surgery (P=.001) were independent predictors of live birth. Multivariate analysis further identified that women with a history of infertility had a reduced chance of live birth following hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (P=.008), while those who reported menstrual pattern improvements postoperatively had an increased probability of achieving a live birth (P=.031). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that RPL and IUA patients without prior infertility and showing menstrual pattern improvement after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, are more likely to achieve live births. Standardized hysteroscopic treatment, postoperative anti-adhesion care, and early pregnancy planning are key to improving fertility outcomes in these patients.

Bleeding within the pleural space may result in persistent clot formation called retained hemothorax (RH). RH is prone to organization, which compromises effective drainage, leading to lung restriction and dyspnea. Intrapleural fibrinolytic therapy is used to clear the persistent organizing clot in lieu of surgery, but fibrinolysin selection, delivery strategies, and dosing have yet to be identified. We used a recently established rabbit model of RH to test whether intrapleural delivery of single-chain urokinase (scuPA) can most effectively clear RH. scuPA, or single-chain tissue plasminogen activator (sctPA), was delivered via thoracostomy tube on day 7 as either one or two doses 8 h apart. Pleural clot dissolution was assessed using transthoracic ultrasonography, chest computed tomography, two-dimensional and clot displacement measurements, and gross analysis. Two doses of scuPA (1 mg/kg) were more effective than a bolus dose of 2 mg/kg in resolving RH and facilitating drainage of pleural fluids (PF). Red blood cell counts in the PF of scuPA, or sctPA-treated rabbits were comparable, and no gross intrapleural hemorrhage was observed. Both fibrinolysins were equally effective in clearing clots and promoting pleural drainage. Biomarkers of inflammation and organization were likewise comparable in PF from both groups. The findings suggest that single-agent therapy may be effective in clearing RH; however, the clinical advantage of intrapleural scuPA remains to be established by future clinical trials.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the role of acellular amniotic membrane (AAM) loaded with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) for the treatment of intrauterine adhesion. Methods: One hundred twenty female Spargue-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham operation group (the uterus was picked out and incised without treatment), intrauterine adhesion group, the experimental group treated with AAM, and experimental group treated with AAM loaded with ADSCs. Histological and immunohistochemical analysis were performed on 3, 7, and 14 days after surgery to evaluate the degree of uterine fibrosis and regeneration of injured endometrium. RNA sequencing and real-time PCR were used to explore the potential mechanism by which ADSCs modulated immune response and promoted endometrial regeneration. Results: On 14 days after surgery, the endometrial thickness, number of glands, and degree of fibrosis reduction in the ADSCs/AAM group was higher than those in the AAM group, and similar to the sham operation group. RNA sequencing analysis showed that ADSCs can modulate local immune responses and promote the formation of functional endometrium. Meanwhile, we found that ADSCs significantly decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-1ß) and increased the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines (bFGF and IL-6). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that AAM loaded with ADSCs can result in the regeneration of injured endometrium and fibrosis reduction. Meanwhile, ADSCs also regulated the immune microenvironment, which was beneficial to functional endometrial recovery.

Despite significant advancements in flexor tendon repair techniques and rehabilitation strategies, achieving complete restoration of digital motion remains a formidable challenge. The most prevalent complications associated with tendon repair are the development of tendon adhesions and joint contractures. Left unaddressed, these complications can further lead to secondary pathomechanical changes, resulting in fixed deformities significantly affecting hand function. This review of zone-specific considerations in flexor tendon rehabilitation provides an in-depth analysis of the dynamics of tendon motion after repair and strategies to minimize common secondary complications.

Objectives: The safety of cesarean myomectomy has been proven by previous studies. Our study aimed to reveal the long-term perinatal, obstetric, and surgical outcomes of cesarean myomectomy (CM) by comparing different CM techniques. Material and methods: This retrospective multicentric case-control study involved 7 hospitals and included 226 singleton pregnancies that underwent repeated cesarean section (CS) between 2015 and 2020. Among these pregnancies, 113 of 226 cases had CM (Group A), and 113 had only CS (Group B). Of the 113 cases in which CM was performed, 58 underwent endometrial myomectomy (EM) (Subgroup A1) and 55 underwent serosal myomectomy (SM) (Subgroup A2). The groups were compared in terms of obstetric, perinatal, and surgical outcomes, and fibroid recurrence, myomectomy scar healing rate, and adhesion formation were noted. Results: There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of maternal age, body mass index, gravidity, parity, and fibroid diameter in previous CS (p > 0.05). In the perinatal and obstetric evaluation of the groups, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of neonatal weight, Apgar score, fetal growth restriction, preterm premature rupture of membranes, preterm delivery, hypertension in pregnancy, and diabetes mellitus (p > 0.05). The fibroid recurrence rate was 28.3%, and the myomectomy scar good healing rate was 99.1%. There was no difference between the groups in terms of CS duration, preoperative and postoperative hemoglobin levels, perioperative blood transfusion rates, febrile morbidity, and prolonged hospitalization (p > 0.05). In terms of adhesion formation, although the adhesion rate of the SM group was higher than that of the EM group, no statistically significant difference was detected between the groups. Conclusion: This study showed that in pregnancies following CM, obstetrical, perinatal, and surgical outcomes were unaffected. Obstetricians can safely use CM, either the trans-endometrial or serosal technique, as it is a safe and effective method with long-term results.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) resulting from irreversible fibrotic repair of endometrium is the main cause of secondary infertility in women, and current therapeutic approaches to IUA are limited. Increasing evidence has suggested the important role of competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) in IUA pathologies. This study aimed to investigate the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1)-associated ceRNA in IUA development. We harvested endometrial tissues from patients with or without IUA and extracted endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) from normal endometrial tissues. Transforming growth factor ß1 (TGF-ß1) was used to induce fibrosis in ESCs. The expression of transforming growth factor ß receptor 1 (TGFßR1), α-smooth muscle actin, phosphorylated suppressor of mother against decapentaplegic (p-Smad)2/3, collagen type I alpha 1, MALAT1, and microRNA (miR)-22-3p in endometrial tissues and ESCs was measured by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) or western blotting. Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted to assess the correlation between miR-22-3p expression or TGFßR1 and MALAT1 expression in endometrial tissues. The expression of TGFßR1 in ESCs was also evaluated by immunofluorescence staining. The location of MALAT1 was examined by fluorescence in situ hybridization. Luciferase reporter assays were performed to verify the binding relationship between MALAT1 or TGFßR1 and miR-22-3p. Cell viability was assessed via cell counting kit-8 assays. Our findings revealed that lncRNA MALAT1 and TGFßR1 were upregulated while miR-22-3p was downregulated in IUA endometrial tissues or TGF-ß1-stimulated ESCs, and lncRNA MALAT1 expression was negatively correlated with miR-22-3p expression while being positively correlated with TGFßR1 expression in IUA endometrial tissues. Additionally, lncRNA MALAT1 was mainly located in the cytoplasm of ESCs and directly targeted miR-22-3p to regulate TGFßR1 expression. Moreover, knockdown of lncRNA MALAT1 exerted anti-fibrotic effects on ESCs by targeting miR-22-3p, and miR-22-3p overexpression inhibited the fibrosis of ESCs by binding to TGFßR1 3'untranslated region. Collectively, lncRNA MALAT1 promotes endometrial fibrosis by sponging miR-22-3p to regulate TGFßR1 and Smad2/3, and inhibition of MALAT1 may represent a promising therapeutic option for suppressing endometrial fibrosis.

We present a female in her sixties with a recurrent paraesophageal hernia status post open Nissen fundoplication and multiple esophageal dilations who underwent a robotic paraesophageal hernia repair, with extensive lysis of adhesions. The stomach and esophagus were dissected off the crura and the previous wrap was undone. Once the entirety of the stomach and esophagus were freed from their surrounding structures, the hernia sac was able to be excised. The crural defect was closed and gastropexy was performed. The patient had an uneventful postoperative course and was discharged home. This case is presented to provide evidence that robotic repair presents a viable option in the reoperation of patients following an open Nissen fundoplication as well as provide an overview of the types of hiatal hernias and the indications and options for surgical intervention.

Pelvic adhesions are nonanatomic connections between organs and normal peritoneal surfaces that develop secondary to a maladaptive inflammatory response to tissue insults. Comprised of fibrous tissue, adhesions can result in the distortion of operative dissection planes, which can complicate the establishment of abdominal access in patients undergoing surgery, prolong the length of surgery, and increase the risk of injury to bowel and other structures if involved by extensive adhesive disease. This can adversely impact patient outcomes by increasing the risk of surgical complications including bleeding, infection, and prolonging postoperative length of stay. Literature on the characterization of adhesions with imaging is limited and a systematic framework for evaluating adhesive disease on cross-sectional imaging of the pelvis does not currently exist. In this review, we discuss the MR imaging features of pelvic adhesions, highlighting unique teaching cases in which surgical exploration was significantly complicated by the presence of adhesive disease. We will also review the correlation between MR imaging and intraoperative findings in these cases. A proposed standardized framework for the detection and characterization of adhesions on pelvic MRI will be reviewed with multiple imaging examples. Identification and characterization of pelvic adhesive disease on preoperative imaging provides radiologists with an opportunity to inform the referring clinician of their presence, potentially improving outcomes and the quality of patient care.
