BACKGROUND: Smoking is a leading cause of premature mortality and morbidity globally. The pollutants generated from smoke are not only harmful to smokers, but also to those exposed to secondhand smoke. As a result of increasingly restrictive indoor smoke-free policies in many countries, there is a tendency for tobacco smoking to move outdoors into partially enclosed settings in hospitality venues. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the impact of secondhand smoke on air quality in outdoor hospitality venues. METHODS: Two electronic databases PubMed and Scopus were searched from 1 January 2010 to 30 June 2022 for studies of air quality impacts from tobacco smoking in outdoor hospitality venues. A total of 625 studies were screened and 13 studies were included in this review. RESULTS: The majority (9 studies) of reviewed studies monitored PM2.5 concentration as an indicator of secondhand smoke. PM2.5 was reported from 10.9 µg/m3 to 91.0 µg/m3 in outdoor smoking areas, compared to 4.0 µg/m3 to 20.4 µg/m3 in outdoor control sites unaffected by smoking. Secondhand smoke can also drift into adjacent outdoor areas or infiltrate into indoor environments thus affecting air quality in spaces where smoking is not permitted. CONCLUSIONS: The reviewed studies indicated that air quality within outdoor hospitality venues where smoking is permitted is unlikely to meet current World Health Organization (WHO) ambient air quality guidelines for PM2.5. Customers and staff in outdoor hospitality venues with active smoking, and in adjacent outdoor and indoor non-smoking areas, are potentially exposed to secondhand smoke at levels exceeding WHO guidelines. Stronger smoking control policies are recommended for outdoor hospitality venues to protect the health of customers and staff from harmful secondhand smoke exposure. Background: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are rarely described in the pregnant population, and knowledge of their impact on the mother/fetus is limited. Objective: To describe SJS/TEN in pregnant women and to investigate the risk factors for developing SJS/TEN in pregnancy. Methods: We utilized hospitalization data from the 2009-2020 National Inpatient Sample. Pregnancy hospitalizations and SJS/TEN involvement were identified by ICD-9/10 codes and analyzed by chi-square and logistic regression. Results: We identified 650 pregnancies complicated by SJS/TEN requiring hospitalization. The median age was 28 years, and most were non-Hispanic White (55.2%). There were ≤10 cases associated with mortality. Most SJS/TEN cases (73.9%) occurred during the third trimester. HIV infection (OR = 9.49; P = .030), herpes simplex virus infection (OR = 2.49; P = .021), genitourinary tract infections (OR = 3.80; P < .001), malignant neoplasm (OR = 8.67; P = .031), and lupus erythematosus (OR = 41.94; P < .001) were associated with increased odds of developing SJS/TEN in pregnancy. Rates of preterm births were higher in the SJS/TEN cohort, 16.9% versus 8.2% (P < .001). Rates of pre-eclampsia, stillbirths, and post-term births were similar between the SJS/TEN versus non-SJS/TEN pregnancy cohorts. Limitations: Limited cohort size. Conclusions: SJS/TEN in pregnancy appears to be mild and is associated with favorable maternal-fetal outcomes, except for increased preterm birth.

Introduction: Routine human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in the US is recommended at ages 11 or 12 years and can be given at age 9. Vaccination completion rates among adolescents 13-15 years in the US remain below the 80% goal. This study evaluated the long-term effects of increasing proactive HPV vaccination initiation rates at age 9 years in completion rates of adolescents. Methods: An age-structured vaccination model was developed and parametrized based on the National Immunization Survey-Teen (NIS-Teen) survey data. The model projected vaccination coverage (by vaccination status and age group), for 20 years, for a routine initiation scenario (no increase in initiation rates of 9-year-olds) and different proactive initiation (increased age 9 initiation) scenarios. The time to reach a completion rate of 80% for 13-15-year-olds was estimated. The model also generated projections stratified for subgroups of interest. Results: Results indicated that vaccine completion rates of 80% in 13-15-year-olds may not be achieved by 2040 under current trends of routine initiation at ages 11 or 12 years. However, increasing initiation rates in 9-year-olds by 1% and 3% annually could shorten the time to achieve 80% completion by 4 and 8 years, respectively. Stratification analyses showed that increasing initiation rates in 9-year-olds can also reduce disparities across subgroups in the time to achieve vaccination completion targets. Discussion: Increasing HPV vaccination initiation rates in 9-year-olds by as little as 1%-3% annually may be an effective strategy to improve HPV vaccination completion rates in adolescents by age 15 and reach the Healthy People goal of 80% completion much earlier.

Background: Gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC) is a deadly tumor. Postoperative complications, including infections, worsen its prognosis and may affect overall survival. Little is known about perioperative complications as well as modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Early detection and treatment of these risk factors may affect overall survival and mortality. Methods: We extracted GAC patient's data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and analyzed using Pearson's Chi-square, Cox regression, Kaplan-Meier, and binary regression methods in SPSS. Results: At the time of analysis, 59,580 GAC patients were identified, of which 854 died of infection. Overall, mean survival in months was better for younger patients, age < 50 years vs. ≥ 50 years (60.45 vs. 56.75), and in females vs. males (65.23 vs. 53.24). The multivariate analysis showed that the risk of infectious mortality was higher in patients with age ≥ 50 years (hazard ratio (HR): 3.137; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.178 - 4.517), not treated with chemotherapy (HR: 1.669; 95% CI: 1.356 - 2.056), or surgery (HR: 1.412; 95% CI:1.132 - 1.761) and unstaged patients (HR: 1.699; 95% CI: 1.278 - 2.258). In contrast, the mortality risk was lower in females (HR: 0.658; 95% CI: 0.561 - 0.773) and married patients (HR: 0.627; 95% CI: 0.506 - 0.778). The probability of infection was higher in older patients (odds ratio (OR) of 2.094 in ≥ 50 years), other races in comparison to Whites and Blacks (OR: 1.226), lesser curvature, not other specified (NOS) as a primary site (OR: 1.325), and patients not receiving chemotherapy (OR: 1.258). Conclusion: Older, unmarried males with GAC who are not treated with chemotherapy or surgery are at a higher risk for infection-caused mortality and should be given special attention while receiving treatment.

Gastric cancer exerts a significant healthcare burden worldwide and is highly geographically heterogeneous. This study investigates the burden of gastric cancer in China from 1990 to 2019 and compares it with Japan, South Korea, and the United States. The results indicated a declining trend in ASIR and ASDR in four countries. However, the incidence and death rates in China remain disproportionately high. Significant gender disparities exist in the incidence and death rates, with males experiencing significantly higher rates than females. Incidence and death rates were found to increase with age in all studied countries. In China, a transient upward trend was observed in the period effect, whereas the cohort effect has been declining. In contrast, the remaining countries showed decreasing patterns in both period and cohort effects. The burden of disease remains high in China, therefore, broaden the scope of gastroscopy screening and concentrate on high-risk groups is vital.

Objective: To establish a universally applicable logistic risk prediction model for diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) in the middle-aged and elderly populations based on the results of a Meta-analysis, and to validate and confirm the efficacy of the model using the follow-up data of medical check-ups of National Basic Public Health Service. Methods: Cohort studies evaluating T2DM risks were identified in Chinese and English databases. The logistic model utilized Meta-combined effect values such as the odds ratio (OR) to derive ß, the partial regression coefficient, of the logistic model. The Meta-combined incidence rate of T2DM was used to obtain the parameter α of the logistic model. Validation of the predictive performance of the model was conducted with the follow-up data of medical checkups of National Basic Public Health Service. The follow-up data came from a community health center in Chengdu and were collected between 2017 and 2022 from 7602 individuals who did not have T2DM at their baseline medical checkups done at the community health center. This community health center was located in an urban-rural fringe area with a large population of middle-aged and elderly people. Results: A total of 40 cohort studies were included and 10 items covered in the medical checkups of National Basic Public Health Service were identified in the Meta-analysis as statistically significant risk factors for T2DM, including age, central obesity, smoking, physical inactivity, impaired fasting glucose, a reduced level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), hypertension, body mass index (BMI), triglyceride glucose (TYG) index, and a family history of diabetes, with the OR values and 95% confidence interval (CI) being 1.04 (1.03, 1.05), 1.55 (1.29, 1.88), 1.36 (1.11, 1.66), 1.26 (1.07, 1.49), 3.93 (2.94, 5.24), 1.14 (1.06, 1.23), 1.47 (1.34, 1.61), 1.11 (1.05, 1.18), 2.15 (1.75, 2.62), and 1.66 (1.55, 1.78), respectively, and the combined ß values being 0.039, 0.438, 0.307, 0.231, 1.369, 0.131, 0.385, 0.104, 0.765, and 0.507, respectively. A total of 37 studies reported the incidence rate, with the combined incidence being 0.08 (0.07, 0.09) and the parameter α being -2.442 for the logistic model. The logistic risk prediction model constructed based on Meta-analysis was externally validated with the data of 7602 individuals who had medical checkups and were followed up for at least once. External validation results showed that the predictive model had an area under curve (AUC) of 0.794 (0.771, 0.816), accuracy of 74.5%, sensitivity of 71.0%, and specificity of 74.7% in the 7602 individuals. Conclusion: The T2DM risk prediction model based on Meta-analysis has good predictive performance and can be used as a practical tool for T2DM risk prediction in middle-aged and elderly populations.

There are more than 207 types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV), most of which do not cause symptoms, lesions, or warts, and cause more than 600,000 cases of cancer annually. Purpose:This study was planned to elucidate the relationship between individuals' HPV knowledge, attitudes towards the HPV vaccine, and vaccine hesitancy. The research was conducted with 1011 people using a descriptive and correlational research design. Data collection tools included socio-demographic information survey, HPV Knowledge Scale, Carolina HPV Vaccination Attitudes Scale, and Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 package program. The average score was 11.68±7.23 on the HPV Knowledge Scale, 30.76±7.31 on the HPV Vaccine Attitude Scale, and 27.90±11.10 on the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. While there was a very weak negative relationship between the participants HPV knowledge and HPV Vaccine Attitude scores, a weak positive relationship was found with vaccine hesitancy. A weak positive relationship was also detected between vaccine attitude and vaccine hesitancy (p<0.05). According to the regression model created in the study, HPV vaccination attitude was explained by the HPV Knowledge Scale and vaccine hesitancy at a rate of 22.5%. In line with the results, healthcare professionals need to raise awareness in the society and increase vaccination rates.


Il existe plus de 207 types de papillomavirus humain (HPV), dont la plupart ne causent pas de symptômes, de lésions ou de verrues, mais entraînent plus de 600 000 cas de cancer chaque année. Objectif : Cette étude a été planifiée pour élucider la relation entre les connaissances des individus sur le HPV, leurs attitudes envers le vaccin contre le HPV et l'hésitation vaccinale. La recherche a été menée auprès de 1011 personnes en utilisant un plan de recherche descriptif et corrélationnel. Les outils de collecte de données comprenaient un sondage d'informations sociodémographiques, l'Échelle de Connaissances sur le HPV, l'Échelle des Attitudes envers la Vaccination contre le HPV de la Caroline et l'Échelle d'Hésitation Vaccinale. Les données ont été analysées à l'aide du programme SPSS 26.0. Le score moyen était de 11,68 ± 7,23 à l'Échelle de Connaissances sur le HPV, de 30,76 ± 7,31 à l'Échelle des Attitudes envers la Vaccination contre le HPV, et de 27,90 ± 11,10 à l'Échelle d'Hésitation Vaccinale. Bien qu'il y ait eu une très faible relation négative entre les connaissances des participants sur le HPV et les scores d'attitude envers le vaccin contre le HPV, une faible relation positive a été trouvée avec l'hésitation vaccinale. Une faible relation positive a également été détectée entre l'attitude envers la vaccination et l'hésitation vaccinale (p<0,05). Selon le modèle de régression créé dans l'étude, l'attitude envers la vaccination contre le HPV était expliquée par l'Échelle de Connaissances sur le HPV et l'hésitation vaccinale à un taux de 22,5 %. Conformément aux résultats, les professionnels de la santé doivent sensibiliser la société et augmenter les taux de vaccination.

This commentary delves into the evolving landscape of cancer incidence and mortality in Costa Rica, presenting a comprehensive analysis of the data. Key findings reveal a concerning upward trajectory in cancer incidence rates, placing Costa Rica at the forefront within Central America. While prostate cancer and breast cancer dominate, disparities emerge when scrutinizing gender-specific trends. Notably, stomach and cervical cancers show declines, potentially attributed to targeted interventions. However, colorectal and liver cancers witness mortality increases, necessitating strategic responses. Geographical disparities persist across provinces, highlighting the need for equitable healthcare access. In conclusion, this commentary underscores the urgency of addressing the burgeoning cancer burden in Costa Rica, calling for evidence-based interventions and collaborative efforts on a global scale.

Introduction and importance: Aging exerts various effects on and causes changes to the oral tissues. It is often difficult to distinguish between what is caused by the physiological process of aging itself and what is caused by the individual's lifestyle or diseases. The elderly face peculiar health challenges and require special dental care. It is therefore vital that greater attention be given to the oral health needs of this rapidly population. In this article, the authors present the case of an elderly female patient with a rare case of calculus on the attached gingiva. Case presentation: A 90-year-old retired teacher with a history of hypertension, presented with a small, painless, grayish-brown growth on her attached gingiva, noticed by her daughter-in-law. Examination revealed signs of gingivitis and significant dental issues including missing teeth, fractures, and calculus buildup. Diagnosis of chronic generalized marginal gingivitis and calculus deposition was made, and scaling and polishing were performed. Perforation of the attached gingiva was observed during scaling thus exposing the root, which facilitated the calculus accumulation. Post-procedure care included medication and oral hygiene instructions. Follow-up after 1 week showed satisfactory healing, but subsequent assessment at 3 months revealed plaque accumulation, with the patient declining further treatment. Clinical discussion: The patient shows relative neglect in oral healthcare given the subpar oral health features she exhibited and decline of further treatment options presented to her. This is common in the population as some abnormal oral presentations and features are perceived as normal in the population, which can be attributed to poor knowledge of oral health practices, which affects the illness seeking behaviour of individual. Conclusion: Calculus deposition in the oral cavity requires a hard surface for formation, and proper oral hygiene practices are essential to mitigate its adverse effects, particularly among the elderly who may require additional attention due to their unique physiological changes.

(1) Background: The rising prevalence of e-cigarette use among university students necessitates a comprehensive understanding of dependence levels and associated factors. This study investigates e-cigarette dependence among Jazan University students in Saudi Arabia. (2) Methods: With the use of a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 1187 students through an online survey from January to April 2024. Dependence levels were assessed using the Penn State Electronic Cigarette Dependence Index (PS-ECDI), and the Arabic version of the questionnaire was validated through pilot testing. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to identify factors associated with e-cigarette dependence. (3) Results: The results indicated that among current e-cigarette users, 37.4% had low dependence, 34.4% had medium dependence, and 13.8% had high dependence. A significant proportion of current and ever users regarded e-cigarettes to be less harmful (50.6% and 44.4%, respectively) and less addictive (37.9% and 32.3%, respectively) than cigarettes. Significant factors influencing dependence included gender, with males showing higher odds of medium (AOR = 12.8, 95% CI: 3.4-47.6) and low dependence (AOR = 9.7, 95% CI: 2.5-37.3) compared to females. Longer duration of e-cigarette use (>2 years) was strongly associated with high dependence (AOR = 50, 95% CI: 7.7-324). Daily use and multiple quit attempts were also significant predictors of higher dependence levels. (4) Conclusions: These findings highlight the substantial e-cigarette dependence among university students and underscore the need for targeted interventions to address this growing public health concern.

Trihalomethanes (THMs) and nitrate are widespread chemicals in drinking water. Chronic exposure has been associated with increased cancer risk despite inconclusive evidence, partly due to the challenges in long-term exposure assessment and potential exposure misclassification. We estimated concentrations of nitrate and THMs in drinking water using a public regulatory monitoring database (SISE-Eaux) for CONSTANCES, a French population-based prospective cohort. We obtained 26,322,366 measurements of drinking water parameters from 2000 to 2020. We excluded missing, implausible and duplicated measurements; we corrected or imputed missing geocodes of sampling locations; we calculated the annual median concentration of nitrate and THMs by surveillance area. To predict missing annual median concentrations, linear mixed models with random intercept using surveillance area as a clustering variable were developed for each region for nitrate and the four THM components (chloroform, chlorodibromomethane, bromodichloromethane and bromoform) separately. Concentrations in the nearest surveillance area from the household were merged per year among 75,462 participants with residential history geocoded for 2000-2020. Estimated concentrations resulting from this approach were compared with measured concentrations in 100 samples collected in Paris, Rennes and Saint-Brieuc in 2021. Median annual concentrations of total THMs and nitrate at study participants' homes for 2000-2020 were, respectively, 15.7 µg/l (IQR: 15.2) and 15.2 mg/l (IQR: 20.8). Among these, 35% were based on measurements for nitrate (16% for THMs), 44% (46%) were predicted using on linear mixed models, and 21% (38%) were based on distribution unit median values. Conditional R2 predictive models ranged from 0.71 to 0.91 (median: 0.85) for nitrate, and from 0.48 to 0.80 for THMs (median: 0.68). These concentrations will allow future association analyses with risk of breast and colorectal cancer. Our cleaning process introduced here could be adapted to other large drinking water monitoring data.

If Europe's health systems make a conscious decision to increase their utilization of technology and techniques that can enhance prevention and expedite early-stage diagnosis, they can effectively address the growing challenges of disease. By embracing these advancements, these health systems can significantly improve their response to emerging health issues.However, at present the effective integration and exploitation of these opportunities remains hesitant and suboptimal, and health and health services underperform accordingly, with patients suffering from the continuing variations in diagnosis and access to innovation. This paper presents a comprehensive study that examines the current state of various influential disciplines and factors in European countries. It specifically focuses on the adoption of Next Generation Screening technologies and the development stage of Public Health Genomics. The assessment of these areas is presented in the context of a rapidly changing policy environment, which provides an opportunity for a fundamental reconsideration of how and where new tools can be integrated into healthcare systems and routine practices. OBJECTIVES: The Seveso accident (1976) caused the contamination with 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin (TCDD) in an area north of Milan, Italy. We report the results of the update of mortality and cancer incidence in the exposed population through 2013. METHODS: The study cohort includes subjects living in three contaminated zones with decreasing TCDD soil concentrations (zone A, B and R) and in a surrounding uncontaminated territory (reference). Poisson models stratified/adjusted for gender, age and period were fitted to calculate rate ratios (RRs) and 95% CIs. RESULTS: In zone A in males, we found elevated mortality from circulatory diseases in the first decade after the accident (17 deaths, RR 2.00, 95% CI 1.24 to 3.23). In females, mortality from diabetes mellitus was increased, with a positive trend across zones. Incidence of soft tissue sarcoma was increased in males in zone R in the first decade (6 cases, RR 2.62, 95% CI 1.01 to 6.83). In females in zone B, there was an excess of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma after 30 years (6 cases, RR 2.87, 95% CI 1.14 to 7.23). Multiple myeloma was increased in the second decade in females in zone B (4 cases, RR 5.09, 95% CI 1.82 to 14.2) and in males in zone R (11 cases, RR 2.15, 95% CI 1.08 to 4.26). In males in zone R, there was a leukaemia excess after 30 years (23 cases, RR 2.02, 95% CI 1.04 to 3.93). CONCLUSIONS: Although with different patterns across gender, zone and time, we confirmed previous results of increased cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, soft tissue sarcoma, and lymphatic and haematopoietic cancers.

This study aimed to assess preferences and acceptability of receiving advice after USC referral related to: 1) managing ongoing symptoms, 2) responding to early symptoms of other cancers, 3) cancer screening, 4) reducing risks of future cancer. Methods: 2,541 patients from two English NHS Trusts were mailed a survey 1-3 months after having no cancer found following urgent suspected gastrointestinal or head and neck cancer referral. Participants were asked about: willingness to receive advice; prospective acceptability; preferences related to mode, timing and who should provide advice; and previous advice receipt. Results: 406 patients responded (16.0%) with 397 in the final analyses. Few participants had previously received advice, yet most were willing to. Willingness varied by type of advice: fewer were willing to receive advice about early symptoms of other cancers (88.9%) than advice related to ongoing symptoms (94.3%). Acceptability was relatively high for all advice types. Reducing the risk of future cancer advice was more acceptable. Acceptability was lower in those from ethnic minority groups, and with lower levels of education. Most participants preferred to receive advice from a doctor; with results or soon after; either face to face or via the telephone. Conclusions: There is a potential unmet need for advice after USC referral when no cancer is found. Equitable intervention design should focus on increasing acceptability for people from ethnic minority groups and those with lower levels of education.

Comprehending the complexities of breast cancer, including its risk factors, methods for early detection, and treatment alternatives, is vital for effectively combating the illness and enhancing both survival rates and the quality of life for patients. The current study, which is observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional in nature, was designed to assess the risk factors and perceptions related to breast cancer within a specific population. This research was carried out among third-year medical students at NOVA Medical School. The survey collected data on sociodemographic aspects and potential risk factors for developing breast cancer. Results indicate that the sample consisted mainly of young females with a relatively low occurrence of known risk factors such as genetic predisposition and exposure to ionizing radiation. Analysis of the participants' answers revealed a comprehensive understanding of recognized risk factors. Nonetheless, there was a divergence in views concerning the impact of body mass index before menopause. This study underscores the importance of ongoing education regarding breast cancer and the factors that increase the risk of developing this disease.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality in India. This review explores the epidemiological trends and the landscape of systemic therapy for HCC in the Indian context, acknowledging the recent shift in etiology from viral hepatitis to lifestyle-associated factors. A comprehensive review of the literature was conducted, including data from the Global Cancer Observatory and the Indian Council of Medical Research, along with a critical analysis of various clinical trials. The article investigates systemic therapies in-depth, discussing their mechanisms, efficacy, and adaptation to Indian healthcare framework. Progression-free survival with a hazard ratio of ≤0.6 compared to sorafenib, overall survival of ∼16-19 months, and objective response rate of 20-30% are the defining thresholds for systemic therapy clinical trials. Systemic therapy for advanced HCC in India primarily involves the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as sorafenib, lenvatinib, regorafenib, and cabozantinib, with sorafenib being the most commonly used drug for a long time. Monoclonal antibodies such as ramucirumab and bevacizumab and immune-checkpoint inhibitors, such as atezolizumab, nivolumab, and pembrolizumab, are expanding treatment horizons. Lenvatinib has emerged as a cost-effective alternative, and the combination of atezolizumab and bevacizumab has demonstrated superior outcomes in terms of overall survival and progression-free survival. Despite these advances, late-stage diagnosis and limited healthcare accessibility pose significant challenges, often relegating patients to palliative care. Addressing HCC in India demands an integrative approach that not only encompasses advancements in systemic therapy but also targets early detection and comprehensive care models. Future strategies should focus on enhancing awareness, screening for high-risk populations, and overcoming infrastructural disparities. Ensuring the judicious use of systemic therapies within the constraints of the Indian healthcare economy is crucial. Ultimately, a nuanced understanding of systemic therapeutic options and their optimal utilization will be pivotal in elevating the standard of HCC care in India.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the risk factors associated with diabetes mellitus (DM) among Brazilian adults. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. METHODS: Data of 75,860 Brazilian adults (≥18 years) were collected using the Surveillance System for Risk and Protective Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (Vigitel) (2020-2023). Variables assessed included self-reported medical diagnosis of DM, sociodemographic factors (sex, age, schooling, marital status) and DM risk factors (regular consumption of sweetened beverages (≥5 times/week), infrequent consumption of fruits and vegetables, and beans (<5 times/week), insufficient physical activity, prolonged screen time on cell phones, computers, tablets (CCT), and television (TV), smoking, heavy episodic drinking, excess weight, and obesity). Logistic regression models estimated crude and adjusted odds ratio (aOR) (adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics) for the association between the risk factors and the presence of DM. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of self-reported DM in the population was 9.2%. There was a lower chance of regular consumption of sweetened beverages (aOR 0.79; 95% CI: 0.65-0.97) and heavy episodic drinking (aOR 0.77; 95% CI: 0.65-0.93) and a greater chance of insufficient physical activity (aOR 1.40; 95% CI: 1.25-1.55), prolonged TV screen time (aOR 1.22; 95% CI: 1.09-1.36), excess weight (aOR 1.62; 95% CI: 1.44-1.82) and obesity (aOR 1.87; 95% CI: 1.67-2.10) among individuals with DM. CONCLUSION: There was a lower chance of regular consumption of sweetened beverages and heavy episodic drinking among individuals with DM and a greater chance of insufficient physical activity, prolonged TV screen time, excess weight, and obesity, among that.
