RESUMO

Isla Arena is located in the coordinate 20° 70´ N - 90° 45´ W, from Campeche, Mexico. In these estuaries, the ocean mixes with fresh water, and ecosystems are concentrated where petenes and pink flamingos proliferate. Crustaceans and mollusks abound in the sea. Despite its enormous marine wealth, there are no studies carried out on which halophilic microorganisms are present in these waters. In this work, the diversity and structure of the microbial community was investigated through a metagenomics approach and corroborated for sequencing of 16S rRNA genes. It was found that the phylum Fimicutes predominates with more than 50%, in almost the same proportion of the class Bacilli and with almost 41% of relative abundance of the order Bacillales. The sequencing results showed that one of the samples presented a high percentage of similarity (99.75%) using the Nucleotide BLAST program with a peculiar microorganism: Bacillus subtilis. This microorganism is one of the best characterized bacteria among the gram-positive ones. Our results demonstrate that B. subtilis can be an efficient source of proteases, lipases and cellulases, from halophilic microbial communities located in poorly explored areas.

RESUMO

A Gram-positive, aerobic, flagellated, endospore-forming, rod-shaped strain, designated as G13T, was isolated from soil. The results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis led to the conclusion that strain G13T was phylogenetically related to Cohnella boryungensis BR29T (97.5 %) and Cohnella phaseoli CECT 7287T (96.9 %) with digital DNA-DNA hybridization values of 21.0 and 21.4 %, and distantly related to Cohnella thermotolerans CCUG 47242T (94.8 %), type species of the genus Cohnella, at 19.0 %. The genome size of strain G13T was 5 387 258 bp, with 51.3 mol% G+C content. The predominant fatty acids were summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1 ω9c and/or C16 : 0 10-methyl), anteiso-C17 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and iso-C15 : 0. The predominant quinone was menaquinone-7 and the major polar lipids were diphosphatidyglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, lysylphosphatidylglycerol, three aminophospholipids, two phosphoglycolipids, three aminolipids and two unidentified lipids. Based on the data from phenotypic tests and the genotypic differences between strain G13T and its close phylogenetic relatives, strain G13T represents a new species belonging to the genus Cohnella, for which the name Cohnella terricola sp. nov. (=KACC 19905T=NBRC 113748T) is proposed.

RESUMO

The presence of biosurfactants produced by a Bacillus strain in corn steep liquor (CSL), a wastewater stream of the corn milling process, has been recently discovered. However, the species responsible for their production has not been identified at the moment. Therefore, in this work, the Bacillus strain isolated from CSL, with capacity to produce biosurfactants, was subjected to amplification and sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA, being identified as Aneurinibacillus aneurinilyticus. This strain has been proved to be endospore forming and thermophile, what would explain its presence in the commercial CSL. It was observed that the strain under evaluation has the ability to produce both cell-bound and extracellular biosurfactant extracts, which were characterized in this work. The electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI) analysis of the biosurfactant extracts revealed that the extracellular biosurfactant produced by Aneurinibacillus aneurinilyticus is composed by a mixture of lipopeptides, containing C16 and C18 fatty acids and amino acids, including valine, phenylalanine, proline, cysteine, histidine, aspartic acid/asparagine, alanine, glycine, leucine/isoleucine, with biomarkers between 1025-458 m/z. Conversely, the cell-bound biosurfactant extract produced by Aneurinibacillus aneurinilyticus was composed by the cyclic decapeptide gramicidin S, with a characteristic peak at 571 m/z, and lipopeptides with characteristic peaks between 1034-705 m/z, containing alanine, glycine, cysteine, serine, proline, aspartic acid/asparagine, similarly to the amino acid sequence of the extracellular biosurfactant extract.

RESUMO

A novel, Gram-stain-positive bacterium, designated KC615T, was isolated from desert soil which was collected from the Karakum Desert, Turkmenistan. Phylogenetic analysis based on an almost-complete 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that isolate KC615T formed a monophyletic clade with Shimazuella kribbensis KCTC 9933T, sharing 98.2% similarity and polyphasic taxonomic studies confirmed the affiliation of the strain to the genus Shimazuella. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. Whole-cell hydrolysates contained ribose and glucose. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and hydroxy-phosphatidylethanolamine. The predominant menaquinones (> 10%) were MK-9(H4) and MK-10(H4). Major fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0, C20:0 and C18:0. The genomic DNA G + C content observed for strain KC615T was 38.5 mol%. Based on 16S rRNA gene similarity, DNA-DNA hybridization value, chemotaxonomic characteristics and differential physiological properties, strain KC615T is considered to represent a novel species within the genus Shimazuella, for which the name Shimazuella alba sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KC615T (= JCM 33532T = CGMCC 4.7616T).

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, motile with peritrichous flagella, rod-shaped bacterium, designated CC-MHH1044T, was isolated from a preserved vegetable sample. A polyphasic taxonomic approach was applied to the isolates in order to clarify its taxonomic position. Growth of the strain CC-MHH1044T occurred at 15-50 °C (optimum, 30 °C), pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and with 0-2.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1 %, w/v). The genome of strain CC-MHH1044T consisted of 8.5 Mb and the genomic DNA G+C content was 58.5 mol%. Comparison of the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that CC-MHH1044T belonged to the genus Cohnella and showed a close relationship with the type strains of Cohnella damuensis (96.2 %) and Cohnella panacarvi (95.9 %), and lower sequence similarity to other species. Average nucleotide identity values calculated from whole-genome sequencing data proved that CC-MHH1044T represents a distinct Cohnella species. The dominant cellular fatty acids (>5 %) included iso-C14 : 0(7.4 %), iso-C15 : 0 (6.4 %), anteiso-C15 : 0(40.3 %), C16 : 0 (6.6 %) and iso-C16 : 0 (27.0 %). The polar lipid profile consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, four unidentified aminophospholipids, one unidentified phospholipid and glycolipid. The major polyamine was spermidine. The predominant isoprenoid quinone was menaqinone 7 (MK-7). Based on its distinct phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic traits, together with results of comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence, average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization analyses, we conclude that strain CC-MHH1044T represents a novel member of the genus Cohnella, for which the name Cohnella fermenti sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CC-MHH1044T (=BCRC 81147T=JCM 32834T).

RESUMO

Strain ATSA2T was isolated from surface-sterilized kimchi cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. pekinensis) seeds and represents a novel bacterium based on the polyphasic taxonomic approach. A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain ATSA2T formed a lineage within genus Saccharibacillus and was most closely to Saccharibacillus deserti WLG055T (98.1%) and Saccharibacillus qing-shengii H6T (97.9%). The whole-genome of ATSA2T comprised a 5,619,468 bp of circular chromosome with 58.4% G + C content. The DNA-DNA relatedness values between strain ATSA2T and its closely related type strains S. deserti WLJ055 and S. qingshengii H6T were 26.0% and 24.0%, respectively. Multiple gene clusters associated with plant growth promotion activities (stress response, nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism, and auxin biosynthesis) were annotated in the genome. Strain ATSA2T was Gram-positive, endospore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, and rod-shaped It grew at 15-37°C (optimum 25°C), pH 6.0-10.0 (optimum pH 8.0), and in the presence of 0-5% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1%). The major cellular fatty acids (> 10%) of strain ATSA2T were anteiso-C15:0 and C16:0. MK-7 was the major isoprenoid quinone. The major polar lipids present were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and three unknown glycolipids. Based on its phylogenetic, genomic, phenotypic, and chemotaxo-nomic features, strain ATSA2T is proposed to represent a novel species of genus Saccharibacillus, for which the name is Saccharibacillus brassicae sp. nov. The type strain is ATSA2T (KCTC 43072T = CCTCC AB 2019223T).

RESUMO

Moutai-flavour Daqu is an important starter to support growth of microorganisms in the fermented process of Moutai-flavour liquor. A novel thermophilic microorganism, designated strain FBKL4.011T, was isolated from Moutai-flavour Daqu samples collected from Guotai distillery in Renhuai, Guizhou province, south-west China. The strain could grow at 45-65 °C (optimum 45 °C). Based on polyphasic analysis, strain FBKL4.011T was affiliated to the genus Thermoflavimicrobium. It formed abundant pale-yellow aerial and substrate mycelium, bearing single endospores (7.0-10.0 µm diameter) on branched long sporophores (5.0 µm diameter). The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid; ribose, glucose and mannose were the primary whole-cell sugars. The major fatty acids were iso-C14 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. The predominant menaquinone were MK-8 and MK-9. The polar phospholipids contained diphosphatidyl glycerol, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified lipid. The G+C content of the genome was 43.1 mol%. According to the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain FBKL4.011T was closely related to Thermoflavimicrobium dichotomicum JCM 9688T (95.3 % sequence similarity), and other members within the family Thermoactinomycetaceae (less than 93.0 % sequence similarity). The DNA-DNA hybridisation data showed low relatedness between strain FBKL4.011T and T. dichotomicum JCM 9688T, Laceyella sacchari KCTC 9790T, Laceyella tengchongensis YIM 10002T, Laceyella sediminis RHA1T(36.7±1.1 %, 30.0±1.2 %, 21.3±2.1 % % and 37.6±0.9 %, respectively). Based on data from the polyphasic analysis, strain FBKL4.011T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Thermoflavimicrobium, for which the name Thermoflavimicrobium daqui sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is FBKL4.011T(=KCTC 43036T=CICC 24504T).

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, endospore-forming bacterium, designated strain M2MS4P-1T, was isolated from surface-sterilized bark of Sonneratiaapetala sampled in Guangxi, China. The bacterium was characterized by a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons revealed that strain M2MS4P-1T belonged to the genus Cohnella and was most closely to Cohnella luojiensis HY-22RT (98.4 % similarity). The average nucleotide identity value and estimated DDH value between strain M2MS4P-1T and the type strain of C. luojiensis HY-22RT were 79.2 and 20.1 %, respectively. Neither substrate nor aerial mycelia were formed, and no diffusible pigments were observed on the media tested. Strain M2MS4P-1T grew in the pH range 6.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0-8.0), at temperatures between 10-37 °C (30 °C) and in 0-1 % (w/v) NaCl (0 %). The predominant isoprenoid quinone in strain M2MS4P-1T was menaquinone-7. The major fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, lysyl-phosphatidylglycerol, four unidentified aminophospholipids and two unidentified phospholipids. The DNA G+C content was 51.5 mol%. According to the phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic evidence, strain M2MS4P-1T was clearly distinguishable from other species with validly published names in the genus Cohnella and should therefore be classified as a novel species, for which we suggest the name Cohnellaendophytica sp. nov. The type strain is M2MS4P-1T (=KCTC 43011T=CGMCC 1.13745T).

RESUMO

A novel bacterium, designated SCSIO 07575T, was isolated from a deep-sea hydrothermal sediment sample collected from the western Pacific Ocean. Growth at 65 °C was observed, but not at 70 °C or below 37 °C. The optimum conditions for growth were at 55-65 °C, pH 7.0 and in the presence of 2 % (w/v) NaCl. Strain SCSIO 07575T showed filamentous growth. Unstable formation of white aerial mycelia was observed, which disappeared after several times' subculture. Abundant substrate mycelia were observed with grape-like spores. No soluble pigment was observed. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that SCSIO 07575T belonged to the family Thermoactinomycetaceae and formed a distinct clade in the phylogenetic tree. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. Whole-cell hydrolysates contained ribose, xylose, glucose and galactose. The polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminophospholipid and two unidentified phospholipids. The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. Major fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. Based on the whole genome sequence analysis, the genome size was 2 751 094 bp with a DNA G+C value of 57.2 mol%, including one circular chromosome and one plasmid. On the basis of polyphasic data, strain SCSIO 07575T represented a novel species of a new genus within the family Thermoactinomycetaceae, for which the name Staphylospora gen. nov. is proposed with the type species Staphylospora marina sp. nov. and the type strain SCSIO 07575T (=DSM 106793T=CGMCC 1.15879T).

RESUMO

A Gram-stain positive, endospore-forming, circular, convex, cream colored, designated strain 18JY8-7T, was isolated from soil collected in Jeju Island, South Korea. Phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain 18JY8-7T formed a distinct lineage within the family Paenibacillaceae (order Bacillales, class Bacilli), and is closely related to Cohnella rhizosphaerae (96.1%, sequence similarity) and Cohnella xylanilytica (96.0%). Optimal growth occurred at 30 °C, pH 6.5 and in the absence of NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0 and iso-C16:0. The major respiratory quinone was MK-7. The polar lipids profile comprised of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and phosphatidylethanolamine. The DNA G + C content was 57.0 mol %. The genotypic and phenotypic analyses revealed the differentiation of strain 18JY8-7T from all recognized Cohenella species. The strain 18JY8-7T, therefore represents a novel bacterial species within the family Paenibacillaceae, for which the name Cohnella candidum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 18JY8-7T (= KCTC 33969T = JCM 33199T).

RESUMO

Two strains of Gram-stain-positive, endospore-forming, motile by means of peritrichous flagella, aerobic or facultative anaerobic, and rod-shaped bacteria that were designated ON8T and ON6T were isolated from soil collected from a mountain wetland in Gwang-ju, Republic of Korea. The isolates were catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. Cells of ON8T and ON6T grew at 15-35 °C (optimal 30 °C) and 15-40 °C (optimal 30 °C), respectively. The major menaquinone was MK-7 and the major cellular fatty acids (>10 % of the total) were anteiso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, C14 : 0 and C16 : 0. The predominant polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, aminophospholipid and phospholipid. Meso-diaminopimelic acid was the diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan. The DNA G+C contents of strains ON8T and ON6T were 50.6 and 53.5 mol%, respectively, and the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbour of both strains was Gorillibacterium massiliense G5T (93.9 %), followed by the members of the genus Paenibacillus in the family Paenibacillaceae. The DNA-DNA hybridization relatedness value between ON8T and ON6T was 44.1 %, which indicated that they represented distinct species. Based on polyphasic characteristics, a novel genus is proposed with the name Paludirhabdus gen. nov., which consists of two species, Paludirhabdus telluriireducens sp. nov. (the type species; type strain ON8T=KACC 19267T=JCM 31958T) and Paludirhabdus pumila sp. nov. (type strain ON6T=KACC 19266T=JCM 31957T).

RESUMO

A thermophilic poly(L-lactide)-degrading Gram-stain-positive filamentous bacterial strain that develops single spores on the aerial mycelium was isolated from forest soil at Srinagarind Dam, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. The results of a polyphasic taxonomic study showed that our isolate had characteristics typical of members of the genus Polycladomyces. The isolate grew aerobically at an optimum temperature of 50-55 °C and optimal pH 6-7. Meso-diaminopimelic acid was present as the diagnostic diamino acid in the peptidoglycan but no characteristic sugars are detected. The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. The diagnostic phospholipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylserine. The predominant cellular fatty acid was iso-C15 : 0. The DNA G+C content of strain KSR 13T was 53.4 mol%. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis also indicated that strain KSR 13T belonged to the genus Polycladomyces, being most closely related to Polycladomyces abyssicola JIR-001T (99.2 %). The DNA-DNA relatedness values that distinguished KSR 13T from P. abyssicola JIR-001T were 17.8-32.1 %, which were significantly below the 70 % cutoff value recommended for species delineation. Following an evaluation of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic studies, the new isolate is proposed as a novel species and named Polycladomyces subterraneus sp. nov. The type strain is KSR 13T (=BCC 50740T=NBRC 109332T).

RESUMO

Abstract Aneurinibacillus aneurinilyticus strain CKMV1 was isolated from rhizosphere of Valeriana jatamansi and possessed multiple plant growth promoting traits like production of phosphate solubilization (260 mg/L), nitrogen fixation (202.91 nmol ethylene mL-1 h-1), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) (8.1 µg/mL), siderophores (61.60%), HCN (hydrogen cyanide) production and antifungal activity. We investigated the ability of isolate CKMV1 to solubilize insoluble P via mechanism of organic acid production. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) study showed that isolate CKMV1 produced mainly gluconic (1.34%) and oxalic acids. However, genetic evidences for nitrogen fixation and phosphate solubilization by organic acid production have been reported first time for A. aneurinilyticus strain CKMV1. A unique combination of glucose dehydrogenase (gdh) gene and pyrroloquinoline quinone synthase (pqq) gene, a cofactor of gdh involved in phosphate solubilization has been elucidated. Nitrogenase (nif H) gene for nitrogen fixation was reported from A. aneurinilyticus. It was notable that isolate CKMV1 exhibited highest antifungal against Sclerotium rolfsii (93.58%) followed by Fusarium oxysporum (64.3%), Dematophora necatrix (52.71%), Rhizoctonia solani (91.58%), Alternaria sp. (71.08%) and Phytophthora sp. (71.37%). Remarkable increase was observed in seed germination (27.07%), shoot length (42.33%), root length (52.6%), shoot dry weight (62.01%) and root dry weight (45.7%) along with NPK (0.74, 0.36, 1.82%) content of tomato under net house condition. Isolate CKMV1 possessed traits related to plant growth promotion, therefore, could be a potential candidate for the development of biofertiliser or biocontrol agent and this is the first study to include the Aneurinibacillus as PGPR.

RESUMO

Aneurinibacillus: sp. YR247 was newly isolated from the deep-sea sediment inside the Calyptogena community at a depth of 1171 m in Sagami Bay. The strain exhibited antifungal activity against the filamentous fungus Aspergillus brasiliensis NBRC9455. A crude extract prepared from the YR247 cells by ethanol extraction exhibited broad antimicrobial activities. The antifungal compound is stable at 4-70 °C and pH 2.0-12.0. After treatment with proteinase K, the antifungal activity was not detected, indicating that the antifungal compound of strain YR247 is a peptidic compound. Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of the purified antifungal compound indicated that the peptidic compound has an average molecular weight of 1167.9. The molecular weight of the antifungal compound from strain YR247 is different from those of antimicrobial peptides produced by the related Aneurinibacillus and Bacillus bacteria. The antifungal peptidic compound from the deep-sea bacterium Aneurinibacillus sp. YR247 may be useful as a biocontrol agent.

RESUMO

A Gram-positive-staining, facultatively aerobic, endospore-forming bacterial strain, isolated from the stem tissue of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) was subjected to a detailed taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity comparisons, strain JM-1350T grouped into the genus Saccharibacillus, and was most closely related to the type strain of Saccharibacillus sacchari (96.5 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), followed by the type strains of Saccharibacillus kuerlensis (96.3 %) and Saccharibacillus deserti (95.1 %). The diagnostic diamino acid of the peptidoglycan was meso-diaminopimelic acid. The quinone system contained exclusively menaquinone MK-7. The polar lipid (L1) profile consisted of the major lipids diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol and moderate amounts of three glycolipids and an aminophospholipid and a polar lipid (L1). The major fatty acids were iso- and anteiso-branched fatty acids. The genomic G+C content was 55.2 mol%. In addition, the results of physiological and biochemical tests allowed phenotypic differentiation of strain JM-1350T from all closely related species. Thus, strain JM-1350T represents a novel species of the genus Saccharibacillus, for which the name Saccharibacillus endophyticus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is JM-1350T (=LMG 29710T=CCM 8702T).

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain-positive, strictly aerobic, endospore-forming, rod-shaped bacterial strain 7578-24T was isolated from ripened Pu'er tea. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain 7578-24T clustered with species of the genus Pullulanibacillus in the family Sporolactobacillaceae with 97.8-95.2 % sequence similarities, and was most closely related to Pullulanibacillus pueri YN3T with 97.8 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. The DNA-DNA relatedness value between strain 7578-24T and P. pueri YN3T was 35 %. Strain 7578-24T had a cell-wall type A1γ peptidoglycan with meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid. The major menaquinone was menaquinone 7 (MK-7). C18 : 1ω7c (45.4 %), anteiso-C17 : 0 (30.6 %) and anteiso-C15 : 0 (10.1 %) were the predominant fatty acids, and diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, five unknown phospholipids and one unknown aminolipid were the major polar lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain 7578-24T was 45.2 mol%. Strain 7578-24T could be differentiated from other related species of the genus Pullulanibacillus based on phenotypic characteristics, chemotaxonomic differences, phylogenetic analysis and DNA-DNA hybridization data. On the basis of polyphasic evidence from this study, a novel species of the genus Pullulanibacillus named Pullulanibacillus camelliae sp. nov. is proposed, with strain 7578-24T (=CGMCC 1.15371T=JCM 31236T) as the type strain.

RESUMO

A polyphasic approach was used to characterize an endospore-forming bacterium, designated strain CC-RT-ET, isolated from resin fragments. Strain CC-RT-ET was Gram-stain-variable and facultatively anaerobic, able to grow at 20-37 °C (optimal 30 °C) and pH6.0-9.0 (optimal pH 7.0). Ellipsoidal and terminal endospores were observed. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of strain CC-RT-ET showed highest sequence similarity to Ammoniphilus oxalivorans RAOx-FST (97.8 %) and Ammoniphilus oxalaticus RAOx-1T (97.7 %). According to the DNA-DNA hybridization, the relatedness values of strain CC-RT-ET with Ammoniphilus oxalivorans RAOx-FST and Ammoniphilus oxalaticus RAOx-1T were 21 % and 29 %, respectively. The DNA G+C content was 39.2 mol% and the predominant quinone system was menaquinone-7 (MK-7). The major polar lipid profile consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylmethylethanolamine. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. The polyamine pattern showed predominance of sym-homospermidine and putrescine. The major fatty acids found in strain CC-RT-ET were C14 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0 and C16 : 1ω7c/C16 : 1ω6c. Based on the distinct phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic traits together with results of comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain CC-RT-ET is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Ammoniphilus, for which the name Ammoniphilus resinaesp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CC-RT-ET (=BCRC 80314T=DSM 24738T).
