RESUMO

A highly sensitive micelle-induced sensory has been developed for detection of long-chain aldehydes as potential biomarkers of respiratory cancers. The micelle-like sensor was fabricated through the partial self-assembly of CTAB and S2 surfactants, containing a fluorescent hydrazine-functionalized dye (Naph-NH2). In principle, long-chain aldehydes with amphiphilic character act as the induced-fit surfactants to form well-entrapped micellar particles, as well as react with Naph-NH2 to form hydrazone derivatives resulting in fluorescent enhancement. The limit of detection (LOD) of micellar Naph-NH2/CTAB/S2 platform was calculated to be ∼  64.09-80.98 µM for detection of long-chain aldehydes, which showed fluorescent imaging in lung cancer cells (A549). This micellar sensory probe demonstrated practical applicability for long-chain aldehyde sensing in human blood samples with an accepted percent recovery of ~ 94.02-102.4%. Beyond Naph-NH2/CTAB/S2 sensor, the milcellar hybrid sensor was successfully developed by incorporating a micelle-like platform with supramolecular gel regarding to carboxylate-based gelators (Gel1), which showed a tenfold improvement in sensitivity. Expectedly, the determination of long-chain aldehydes through these sensing platforms holds significant promise for point-of-care cancer diagnosis and therapy.

RESUMO

This study explores the dual applications of a greenly synthesized ZnO@CTAB nanocomposite for the efficient remediation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and lead (Pb). The synthesis method involves a sustainable approach, emphasizing environmentally friendly practices. FT-IR, XRD, FESEM, zeta potential, and particle size analyzer (PSA), BET, and UV-VIS were used to physically characterize the zinc oxide and CTAB nanocomposite (ZnO@CTAB). The size and crystalline index of ZnO@CTAB are 77.941 nm and 63.56% respectively. The Zeta potential of ZnO@CTAB is about - 22.4 mV. The pore diameter of the ZnO@CTAB was 3.216 nm, and its total surface area was 97.42 m2/g. The mechanism of adsorption was investigated through pHZPC measurements. The nanocomposite's adsorption performance was systematically investigated through batch adsorption experiments. At pH 2, adsorbent dose of 0.025 g, and temperature 50 °C, ZnO@CTAB removed the most RhB, while at pH 6, adsorbent dose of 0.11 g, and temperature 60 °C, ZnO@CTAB removed the most Pb. With an adsorption efficiency of 214.59 mg/g and 128.86 mg/g for RhB and Pb, the Langmuir isotherm model outperforms the Freundlich isotherm model in terms of adsorption. The pseudo-2nd-order model with an R2 of 0.99 for both RhB and Pb offers a more convincing explanation of adsorption than the pseudo-1st-order model. The results demonstrated rapid adsorption kinetics and high adsorption capacities for RhB and Pb. Furthermore, there was minimal deterioration and a high reusability of ZnO@CTAB till 4 cycles were observed.

RESUMO

AIM: The antifungal activity was studied on sessile and persister cells (PCs) of Candida tropicalis biofilms of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) stabilized with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB-AuNPs) and those conjugated with cysteine, in combination with Amphotericin B (AmB). MATERIALS/METHODS: The PC model was used and synergistic activity was tested by the checkerboard assay. Biofilms were studied by crystal violet and scanning electron microscopy. RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS: After the combination of both AuNPs and AmB the biofilm biomass was reduced, with significant differences in architecture being observed with a reduced biofilm matrix. In addition, the CTAB-AuNPs-AmB combination significantly reduced PCs. Understanding how these AuNPs aid in the fight against biofilms and the development of new approaches to eradicate PCs has relevance for chronic infection treatment.

RESUMO

A sensitive electrochemical strategy for carcinoembryonic antigen 15-3 (CA15-3) detection is reported using CTAB-Co-MOFs@AuPt NPs as signal probes. The electrochemical strategy was designed as follows: First, the graphene aerogel@gold nanoparticles (GA@Au NPs) nanocomposites were employed to modify the sensing surface for promoting electron transfer rate and primary antibody (Ab1) immobilization due to GA possesses a large specific surface area, eminent conductivity, and a 3D network structure. Cobalt metal-organic frameworks (CTAB-Co-MOFs) synthesized were then used as a carrier for AuPt NPs and secondary antibody (Ab2) immobilization (notes: labelled-Ab2). With sandwich immunoreaction, the labelled-Ab2 was captured on the surface of the GA@Au NPs nanocomposites. Finally, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was employed to register the electrochemical signal of the immunosensor at the potential of - 0.85 V (vs SCE) in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) containing 2.5 mM H2O2. It was verified that the electrochemical reduction signal from Co3+ to Co2+ was recorded. The AuPt NPs could catalyze the reaction of H2O2 oxidizing Co2+ to Co3+, resulting in the amplification of the electrochemical signal. Under the selected conditions, the immunosensor can detect CA15-3 in the range 10 µU/mL to 250 U/mL with a low detection limit of 1.1 µU/mL. In the designed strategy, the CTAB-Co-MOFs were not only employed as carriers for AuPt NPs, but also acted as signal probes. The CTAB-Co-MOFs were investigated including SEM, TEM, XPS, and XRD. The application ability of the immunosensor was evaluated using serum sample, demonstrating the immunosensor can be applied to clinic serum analysis.

RESUMO

Conformational changes play a seminal role in modulating the activity of proteins. This concept becomes all the more relevant in the context of metalloproteins, owing to the formation of specific conformation(s) induced by internal perturbations (like a change in pH, ligand binding, or receptor binding), which may carry out the binding and release of the metal ion/ions from the metal binding center of the protein. Herein, we investigated the conformational changes of an iron-binding protein, monoferric human serum transferrin (Fe-hTF), using several spectroscopic approaches. We could reversibly tune the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-induced conformation of the protein, exploiting the concept of mixed micelles formed by three sequestrating agents: (3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propanesulfonate) hydrate (CHAPS) and two bile salts, namely, sodium cholate (NaC) and sodium deoxycholate (NaDC). The formation of mixed micelles between CTAB and these reagents (CHAPS/NaC/NaDC) results in the sequestration of CTAB molecules from the protein environment and aids the protein in reattaining its native-like structure. However, the guanidinium hydrochloride-induced denatured Fe-hTF did not acquire its native-like structure using these sequestrating agents, which substantiates the exclusive role of mixed micelles in the present study. Apart from this, we found that the conformation of transferrin (adopted in the presence of CTAB) displays pronounced esterase-like activity toward the para-nitrophenyl acetate (PNPA) substrate as compared to native transferrin. We also outlined the impact of the iron center and amino acids surrounding the iron center on the effective catalytic activity in the CTAB medium. We estimated ∼3 times higher specific catalytic efficiency for the iron-depleted Apo-hTF compared to the fully iron-saturated Fe2-hTF in the presence of CTAB.

RESUMO

The direct incorporation of low viscosity organic liquids (OL) such as dodecane and tributylphosphate (TBP) into fresh geopolymers (GP) is difficult and generally leads to variable amounts of un-incorporated OL remaining outside the hardened geopolymer. Experimentally, it is observed that a regular torque increase during OL incorporation corresponds to a suitable dispersion of the OL in the form of fine micrometric droplets. This can be obtained for TBP and dodecane by adding a small quantity of quaternary ammoniums salts (QAs) such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). Shorter alkyl chains QAs, such as hexamethyltrimethylammonium (HMTA) can also be used but with a reduced efficiency. The positive impact of CTAB is then confirmed by the Washburn capillary rise method, showing that the interactions between TBP and CTAB-modified metakaolin are weaker compared to untreated powder. Finally, it is observed that the incorporation of TBP into geopolymer slurries is much easier than the incorporation of dodecane. The low interfacial tension measured between TBP and the activating solution (around 8 mN·m -1 ), contrasting with dodecane (29 mN·m -1 ), explains that the dispersion of TBP droplets in fresh metakaolin suspensions is more efficient.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cancer-testis antigens (CTAs) are tumor antigens that are normally expressed in the testes but are aberrantly expressed in several cancers. CTA overexpression drives the metastasis and progression of lung cancer, and is associated with poor prognosis. To improve lung cancer diagnosis, prognostic prediction, and drug discovery, robust CTA identification and quantitation is needed. In this study, we examined and quantified the co-expression of CTAs in lung cancer to derive cancer testis antigen burden (CTAB), a novel biomarker of immunotherapy response. METHODS: Formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tumor samples in discovery cohort (n = 5250) and immunotherapy and combination therapy treated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) retrospective (n = 250) cohorts were tested by comprehensive genomic and immune profiling (CGIP), including tumor mutational burden (TMB) and the mRNA expression of 17 CTAs. PD-L1 expression was evaluated by IHC. CTA expression was summed to derive the CTAB score. The median CTAB score for the discovery cohort of 170 was applied to the retrospective cohort as cutoff for CTAB "high" and "low". Biomarker and gene expression correlation was measured by Spearman correlation. Kaplan-Meier survival analyses were used to detect overall survival (OS) differences, and objective response rate (ORR) based on RECIST criteria was compared using Fisher's exact test. RESULTS: The CTAs were highly co-expressed (p < 0.05) in the discovery cohort. There was no correlation between CTAB and PD-L1 expression (R = 0.011, p = 0.45) but some correlation with TMB (R = 0.11, p = 9.2 × 10-14). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis of the immunotherapy-treated NSCLC cohort revealed better OS for the pembrolizumab monotherapy treated patients with high CTAB (p = 0.027). The combination group demonstrated improved OS compared to pembrolizumab monotherapy group (p = 0.04). The pembrolizumab monotherapy patients with high CTAB had a greater ORR than the combination therapy group (p = 0.02). CONCLUSIONS: CTA co-expression can be reliably measured using CGIP in solid tumors. As a biomarker, CTAB appears to be independent from PD-L1 expression, suggesting that CTAB represents aspects of tumor immunogenicity not measured by current standard of care testing. Improved OS and ORR for high CTAB NSCLC patients treated with pembrolizumab monotherapy suggests a unique underlying aspect of immune response to these tumor antigens that needs further investigation.

RESUMO

Aflatoxin B1 is a highly carcinogenic and teratogenic substance mainly produced by toxin-producing strains such as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasitic. The efficient decomposition of aflatoxin is an important means to reduce its harm to humans and livestock. In this study, Trametes versicolor aflatoxin B1-degrading enzyme (TV-AFB1D) was recombinantly expressed in Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) 168. MMT-CTAB-AFB1D complex was prepared by the immobilization of TV-AFB1D and montmorillonite (MMT) by cross-linking glutaraldehyde. The results indicated that TV-AFB1D could recombinantly express in engineered B. subtilis 168 with a size of approximately 77 kDa. The immobilization efficiency of MMT-CTAB-AFB1D reached 98.63% when the concentration of glutaraldehyde was 5% (v/v). The relative activity of TV-AFB1D decreased to 72.36% after reusing for 10 times. The content of AFB1 in MMT-CTAB-AFB1D-AFB1 decreased to 1.1 µg/g from the initial 5.6 µg/g after incubation at 50 °C for 6 h. The amount of 80.4% AFB1 in the MMT-CTAB-AFB1D-AFB1 complex was degraded by in situ catalytic degradation. Thus, the strategy of combining adsorption and in situ degradation could effectively reduce the content of AFB1 residue in the MMT-CTAB-AFB1D complex.

RESUMO

The coconut shell-based activated charcoal was decorated by three different electronegativities of surfactants (CTAB, SDS, and Triton X-100) through the impregnation method, and the decorated activated charcoal adsorbents were used for the removal of PAHs from peanut oil, respectively. The influence of surfactant decoration on the adsorption and detoxification effect of coconut shell-based activated charcoal was discussed. The thermodynamic and kinetic behaviors of PAHs adsorption on the surfactant-modified activated charcoal were investigated, and the adsorption mechanism was analyzed in-depth. Notably, the prepared modified coconut shell activated charcoal could not only remove more than 90% of PAHs from the peanut oil but also keep the cytotoxicity of the treated peanut oil low. Meanwhile, the detoxification procedure has little effect on the nutritional quality and flavor of the peanut oil. The results of this fundamental study demonstrate that the low-cost surfactant-modified coconut shell-based activated charcoal was effective and feasible.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The biocompatible amphiphilic silk fibroin, extracted from domesticated silkworms, can adsorb at the oil-water interface and form elastic interfacial layers. In this study, three surfactants (cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, the nonionic polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate, and the anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate) were selected to investigate, through interfacial shear rheology, the influences of surfactants on the interfacial viscoelasticity and stability of silk fibroin at the interfaces between water and two different oils. RESULTS: The presence of surfactant prolongs the equilibration time and enhances the interfacial elastic modulus and toughness of the interfacial silk fibroin layers, especially at the nonpolar dodecane-water interface. However, when the surfactant exceeds a critical concentration, the shear modulus and stability of interfacial silk fibroin layers begin to decrease due to the competitive adsorption of surfactant molecules and the weakening of the protein network. Owing to electrostatic interactions, the ionic surfactants cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and sodium dodecyl sulfate can form more hydrophobic complexes with silk fibroin, which results in higher shear moduli than for silk fibroin and silk fibroin-polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate mixture. CONCLUSION: Both the surfactant type and oil polarity play important roles in the adsorption, shear viscoelasticity, and stability of silk fibroin at the oil-water interface. Enhanced interactions between a silk fibroin-surfactant mixture and the oil phase delay the equilibration of the adsorption layers but strengthen the stability of interfacial layers. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Pigeonpea (Cajanuscajan L.) is a legume crop that contains high levels of polyphenolic compounds and polysaccharides that become a hindrance in extracting good-quality and enough amount of RNA from its tissues. With the existing methods of RNA isolation, the phenolic compounds may co-precipitate or bind to the RNA giving false results. Therefore, in the present study, we have modified conventional CTAB and Trizol-based methods which resulted in good quality with the absorbance A260/A280 ratios in the range of 1.83 to 1.98 and A260/230 ratios in the range of 2.0-2.23, revealed RNA to be of high purity and free of contaminants. Both of the proposed protocols yielded a good quantity of RNA ranging from 289 to 422µg per gram of tissue. Distinctly visible bands of 28S and 18S rRNA were observed without degradation or smear, which indicated the presence of intact RNA. RT-PCR analysis showed that isolated RNA was quantitatively sufficient and compliant for the subsequent gene expression analysis.

RESUMO

The extraction of high-quality RNA from kenaf is essential for genetic and molecular biology research. However, the presence of high levels of polysaccharide and polyphenol compounds in kenaf poses challenges for RNA isolation. We proposed a simplified, time-saving and cost-effective method for isolating high quantities of RNA from various kenaf tissues. This method exhibited superior efficiency in RNA isolation compared with the conventional cetyltrimethylammonium bromide method and demonstrated greater adaptability to different samples than commercial kits. Furthermore, the high-quality RNA obtained from this method was successfully utilized for RT-PCR, real-time RT-PCR and northern blot analysis. Moreover, this proposed protocol also enables the acquisition of both high-quality and -quantity gDNA through RNase A treatment. In addition, the effectiveness of this approach in isolating high-quality RNA from other plant species has been experimentally confirmed.

RESUMO

Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide complexed alginate-Ca2+ microgels (C/AMGs) were developed as emulsifiers, which shown remarkably improved emulsifying performance than non-complexed alginate-Ca2+ microgels (AMGs) in previous study. This work focus on the impact of deformability on the emulsifying performance of C/AMGs. By regulating alginate concentration (1.0-4.0 wt%), microgels with different deformability were prepared. Deformability was proved to have great influence on the emulsifying performance of C/AMGs, which was evaluated by Langmuir trough measurements, emulsion appearance, centrifugation stability, digestive behavior, and oxidative stability. Particle size and SEM images indicated microgels prepared with lower alginate concentration are more deformable. C/AMGs (2.0 wt%) exhibits the best emulsifying performance, which could be ascribed to the appreciated deformability and mechanical strength. Digestive behavior and oxidative stability of alginate-Ca2+ microgel (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions were further investigated. Compared with alginate-Ca2+ microgel (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions, C/AMGs (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions shown delayed lipid digestion and lower POV. Results of this work supporting that Mickering mechanism have potential in fabricating functional emulsions based on natural polysaccharides.

RESUMO

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with localized surface plasmon resonance effect have been widely used for colorimetric detection based on the interparticle plasmon coupling during AuNPs aggregation. However, it is still challenging to develop portable and quantitative methods with good sensitivity and excellent selectivity. In this study, a smartphone-based colorimetric assay is developed on the principle of surfactant-mediated AuNPs aggregation assisted with rolling circle amplification (RCA) on magnetic beads (MBs). The detection of adenosine is demonstrated as an example. The cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) causes the negatively charged AuNPs to aggregate, which results in the color change from red to blue. When adenosine is in solution, the RCA process is triggered on the MBs because of specific adenosine-aptamer recognition, resulting in prolongation of single-stranded nucleic acid (ssDNA). The solution color remains red due to the electrostatic interaction between CTAB and ssDNA. Using this method, the limit of detection (LOD) for adenosine can be as low as 16 pM. Besides, it also works well in human serum. In addition, a portable device integrated with in-situ RGB analysis software is developed for the detection with a smartphone. This study offers a new strategy to improve the sensitivity and selectivity for the AuNPs-based colorimetric assay, taking advantages of specific aptamer recognition, in-situ RCA on MBs, magnetic separation, and smartphone-based portable device.

RESUMO

An efficient deep eutectic solvent (DES) was synthesized by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and ethylene glycol (EG) and employed to treat rape straw (RS) for advancing enzymatic saccharification in this work. By optimizing the pretreatment parameters, the results displayed that the novel DES was strongly selective towards removing lignin and xylan while preserving cellulose. Under optimum conditions with 1:6 of CTAB: EG in DES, 180 °C and 80 min, the enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency of RS was enhanced by 46.0% due to the 62.2% of delignification and 53.2% of xylan removal during CTAB: EG pretreatment. In terms of the recalcitrant structure of RS, DES pretreatment caused the increment of cellulosic accessibility, reduction of hydrophobicity and surface area of lignin, and migration of cellulosic crystalline structure, which was associated with its enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency. Overall, this study presented an emerging method for the effective fractionation and valorization of lignocellulosic biomass within biorefinery technology.

RESUMO

The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficacy of diclofenac sodium solutions, with or without cetrimide (CTR) added, against polymicrobial root canal biofilms grown in dentin specimens. The study groups were: (1) 5% diclofenac sodium (DCS); (2) 2.5% DCS; (3) 2.5% DCS + 0. 2% CTR; (4) 2.5% DCS + 0.4% CTR and (5) 0.9% saline solution (SS) as the control. After 5 min of solution contact with the biofilms, the antimicrobial activity was evaluated by means of the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) assay as well as confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Microbial quantification was indicated as the percentage reduction of relative light units (RLUs) for the ATP assay, the Log10 total biovolume and the viability percentage (green cells) for CLSM. Solutions of 2.5% DCS + 0.4% CTR and 5% DCS showed the highest antimicrobial efficacy. Cetrimide increased the antibiofilm activity of diclofenac sodium against endodontic biofilms.

RESUMO

Objective: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most leading causes of death worldwide. Previous studies reported that gallium alone and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) have antineoplastic activities; therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the activity of copper-cetyl tri-methyl ammonium bromide with gallium oxide nanoparticles (Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs) against HCC by using in vitro and in vivo studies. Methods: In vitro study was performed to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs and GaO-NPs on HepG-2 cell line using crystal violet dye assay. In vivo study was done on diethyl nitrosamine (DEN) induced HCC Wister rats. Rats were randomly divided into eight groups; control, Cu-CTAB, GaO-NPs, Cu-CTAB+GaONPs, DEN, DEN+Cu-CTAB, DEN+GaO-NPs and DEN+Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs. Histopathological examination of liver and biochemical parameters such as liver function markers, oxidative stress-antioxidants markers, tumor makers, apoptosis makers were studied. Results: Results obtained from in vitro study revealed that Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs and GaO-NPs affect the cell viability of HepG-2 cancer cell with IC50 0.2 µg/ml and 360 µg/ml, respectively. Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs exerted an antiproliferative effect in experimental rat models of HCC, as demonstrated both histologically, since it facilitated the tissue recovery of the damaged liver, and biochemically as showed by the reduction of liver function markers (ALT & AST), oxidative stress markers (MDA) and tumor makers (AFP,TGF-ß1,α-L-Fucosidase); while antioxidants markers (SOD), apoptosis markers (caspase-3 mRNA) and araginase activity were elevated in DEN+Cu-CTAB, DEN+GaO-NPs and DEN+Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs groups when compared to DEN group. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that both Cu-CTAB alone and/or combined with GaO-NPs exerted cytotoxic effects against DEN-induced HCC, which would in turn, speculate a possible therapeutic role of the novel Cu-CTAB+GaO-NPs compound.

RESUMO

The comprehensive utilization of iron ore tailings (IOTs) not only resolved environmental problems but also brought huge economic benefits. In this study, the synthetic route presented herein provides a novel method for the synthesis of ZSM-5 microspheres from IOTs. The effects of Si/Al molar ratios and the pH of the precursor solution on the formation of zeolite was evaluated by various analytical methods. The catalytic performance of the catalyst prepared by the solid-phase conversion method (denoted as MP-ZSM-5) was evaluated by methanol-to-propylene (MTP) reaction. Compared with the zeolite catalyst that synthesized via the conventional hydrothermal method (denoted as HM-ZSM-5), MP-ZSM-5 not only prolongs catalytic lifetime from 18.7 to 36.0 h but also has higher selectivity for propylene by MP-ZSM-5 (43.7%) than that for HM-ZSM-5 (38.6%). In addition, Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) model is applied to the TG result to study the template removal process kinetics. The average activation energy values required for the removal of CTAB and TPABr are 201.11 ± 13.42 and 326.88 ± 16.91 kJ∙mol-1, respectively. Furthermore, this result is well coupled with the model-free kinetic algorithms to determine the conversion and isoconversion of the TPABr and CTAB decomposition in ZSM-5, which serves as important guidelines for the industrial production process.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Protoporphyrin-IX (PpIX), a photosensitizer used in photodynamic therapy, has limitations due to its hydrophobicity, rapid photobleaching, and low absorption peak in the red region. These limitations make the use of PpIX less effective for photodynamic therapy treatments. In this study, we harnessed the power of microfluidic technology to manipulate the properties of PpIX and quickly synthesize albumin-based hybrid nanoshells with high reproducibility. METHODS AND MATERIAL: To begin with, we designed a microfluidic chip with SolidWorksⓇ software; then the chip was fabricated in Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) material using micromilling and thermal bonding. We synthesized PpIX-loaded CTAB micelles and subsequently transformed the PpIX structure into photo-protoporphyrin (PPP,) by opto-microfluidic chip (Integrating a microfluidic chip with a light source). Simultaneously with CTAB-PPP synthesis complex, we trapped it in binding sites of bovine serum albumin (BSA). Afterward, we used the same method (without irradiating) to generate a hybrid nanostructure consisting of hollow gold nanoshells (HGN) and BSACTAB-PPP. Then, after physical characterization of nanostructures, the photodynamic effects of the agents (HGNs, CTAB-PpIX, BSA-CTABPpIX, HGN-BSA-CTAB-PpIX, CTAB-PPP, BSA-CTAB-PPP, and HGNs-BSA-CTAB-PPP) were evaluated on MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells and the cytotoxic properties of the therapeutic agents after treatment for 24, 48, and 72 hours were investigated using MTT assay. Finally, we analyzed the findings using GraphPad Prism 9.0 software. RESULTS: Results revealed that the opto-microfluidic assisted synthesis of HGN-BSA-CTAB-PPP is highly efficient and reproducible, with a size of 120 nm, a zeta potential of -16 mV, and a PDI index of 0.357. Furthermore, the cell survival analysis demonstrated that the HGNBSA-CTAB-PPP hybrid nanostructure can significantly reduce the survival of MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cancer cells at low radiation doses (< 10 J/cm2) when exposed to an incoherent light source due to its strong absorption peak at a wavelength of 670 nm. CONCLUSION: This research indicates that developing albumin-based multidrug hybrid nanostructures using microfluidic technology could be a promising approach to design more efficient photodynamic therapy studies.
