RESUMO

Hypopituitarism is a relatively rare complication of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. However, almost all available reported cases were total anterior pituitary hypofunction, isolated growth-hormone deficiency, or isolated gonadotropin deficiency. Here, we firstly describe a patient with partial hypopituitarism with ACTH deficiency as the main manifestation as a complication of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Hantavirus infection is the main cause of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), which is common in Asia and Europe. There is a considerable risk of morbidity and mortality from the uncommon Hantavirus complication known as acute pancreatitis (AP). METHODS: Retrospective analysis of the medical records of individuals with HFRS was performed. Relevant variables were assessed by univariate analyses and the variables with a p value <.05 were entered into the multivariable regression analysis. RESULTS: In this study, 114 individuals with HFRS in total were included, and 30 of them (26.32%) had AP. The univariate analyses showed that living in Xuancheng city (Anhui Province); an alcohol consumption history; white blood cell (WBC) count; lymphocyte (lym%) and eosinophil percentages (EO%); neutrophil (neut), eosinophil (EO), and red blood cell (RBC) counts; hemoglobin (Hb); hematocrit (HCT); proteinuria; hematuria; albumin (ALB), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Cr), uric acid (UA), cystatin-C (Cys-C) levels; carbon dioxide-combining power (CO2CP); fibrinogen degradation products (FDPs); and D-dimer level were significantly associated with HFRS complicated with AP (p < .05). In the multivariable regression analysis, an alcohol consumption history, lym%, proteinuria, FDPs and D-dimer level were found to be risk factors for HFRS complicated with AP (p < .05). CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that HFRS patients with a history of consuming alcohol, a high lym%, intense proteinuria, high levels of FDPs, and a low level of D-dimer might be more prone to the development of AP.KEY MESSAGESThis is the first report employing Logistic regression analysis methods for exploring the risk factors for HFRS complicated with AP in China.Many factors (most are laboratory parameters) were significantly associated with HFRS complicated with AP.We found that HFRS patients with a history of consuming alcohol, a high lym%, intense proteinuria, high levels of FDPs, and a low level of D-dimer might be more prone to the development of AP.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the role of glomerular lesions in patients who suffered from acute kidney injury (AKI) during hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). METHODS: The study comprised 66 patients with AKI during HFRS treated at the National Clinical Research Center of Kidney Diseases of China, Jinling Hospital, from January 2014 to December 2018. According to the kidney pathological findings, the 66 patients were divided into two groups: the tubulointerstitial injury group (HFRS-TI group, n = 43) and the tubulointerstitial injury with glomerular lesions group (HFRS-GL group, n = 23). The clinical and pathological characteristics of the 66 patients were analyzed. RESULTS: There were 9 cases of IgA nephropathy, 1 case of membranous nephropathy, 2 cases of diabetic nephropathy, and 11 cases of mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis in the HFRS-GL group. There were more males in the HFRS-GL group than in the HFRS-TI group (92.3% vs. 69.8%, p < .05). A higher proportion of interstitial fibrosis (56.5% vs. 27.9%, p < .05) and more immunoglobulin and complement depositions (p < .001) were observed in the HFRS-GL group than in the HFRS-TI group. Rates of remission of AKI were lower in the HFRS-GL group than in the HFRS-TI group (73.9% vs. 95.3%, p < .05). The presence of glomerular lesions (HR = 5.636, 95% CI = 1.121-28.329, p = .036) and moderate tubulointerstitial injury (HR = 3.598, 95% CI = 1.278-10.125, p = .015) were found to be independent risk factors for kidney prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with AKI during HFRS can have glomerular lesions or glomerulonephritis. Patients with AKI during HFRS who have glomerular lesions or moderate renal tubulointerstitial injury proven by kidney biopsy have a relatively poor kidney prognosis. A kidney biopsy can help determine long-term prognosis in patients with AKI during HFRS.

BACKGROUND: Puumala hantavirus (PUUV) causes most cases of haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Europe. PUUV infection is characterised by acute kidney injury, thrombocytopenia and increased capillary leakage. Typical symptoms are fever, headache, nausea, abdominal and back pain. This study aimed to evaluate the amount and distribution of intraperitoneal, retroperitoneal and pleural fluid and the association of fluid collections to the symptoms and clinical findings in patients with acute PUUV infection. METHODS: Abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed on 27 hospitalised patients with acute PUUV infection. The clinical and laboratory findings and patients' symptoms were analysed in relation to the imaging findings. The thickness of the fluid collections was measured in millimetres (mm) from axial images. RESULTS: Fluid collections were found in all patients. The amount of intraperitoneal fluid correlated positively with plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) level (r = 0.586, p = .001), while it had an inverse correlation with serum creatinine concentration (r = -0.418, p = .030). Retroperitoneal fluid also correlated inversely with serum creatinine and cystatin C concentrations (r = -0.501, p = .008 and r = -0.383, p = .048, respectively). The amount of fluid was not greater in patients with abdominal or back pain. Patients with back pain had higher serum creatinine compared with patients without back pain, 452 µmol/L (range 88-1071) vs. 83 µmol/L (range 60-679), p = .004. CONCLUSIONS: Fluid collections were found in all patients. A greater amount of intraperitoneal fluid associates with higher CRP concentrations but not with higher serum creatinine levels. Back pain associates with higher creatinine level but not with the presence of fluids.

Hantaviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses. They are transmitted to humans by rodents and insectivore hosts. Some Hantavirus subtypes are the causative agents of haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), which is characterized by fever, thrombocytopenia, and acute kidney injury. Hantavirus infection is difficult to diagnose due to its non-specific clinical symptoms. Causes of acalculous cholecystitis are severe trauma or burn, surgery, long-term starvation and some viral infections. It is very rare for Hantavirus to cause acute acalculous cholecystitis. The treatment of acute acalculous cholecystitis is usually directed towards its symptoms. A 22-year-old male forest worker was admitted to our emergency outpatient clinic with the complaints of fatigue, oliguria, fever, abdominal pain and vomiting. After the clinical and laboratory examinations, HFRS and acute cholecystitis secondary to Hantavirus infection were diagnosed. The patient's condition and clinical findings improved after supportive treatment. Hantavirus infection should be considered in patients with acute kidney injury, cholecystitis and thrombocytopenia (Fig. 2, Ref. 10). OBJECTIVES: To investigate the risk of haematologic and solid organ malignancies in patients with haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) compared with the general population. METHODS: This propensity-score-matched cohort study was conducted using data collected from the Korean national health insurance service (NHIS) between January 2003 and December 2017. The HFRS cohort included 5888 newly diagnosed cases of HFRS, and 412,804 general participants from the NHIS database were included as the control cohort. The incidence rate of malignancies was assessed and compared between the HFRS and control cohorts. RESULTS: There were 64 cases of haematologic malignancy in 236,286 person-years of observation, and 1245 cases of solid organ cancer in 209,333 person-years. The risks of haematologic malignancy and solid organ cancer were significantly higher in the HFRS cohort [adjusted hazards ratio (aHR) 4.10, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.36-7.14] than the control cohort [aHR 2.97, 95% CI 2.60-3.38). In subgroup analysis, the HFRS cohort was associated with high hazard ratios for leukaemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The HFRS cohort also had increased aHRs for all types of solid organ cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with HFRS are at increased risk of both haematologic and solid organ malignancies compared with the general population, and this increased proportionally over time. Careful monitoring for malignancy after the onset of HFRS may be necessary.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a rare complication of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), and is difficult to diagnose. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics of 7 cases of HFRS complicated with AP and 105 cases of acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP).Medical records of 83 hospitalized patients with HFRS and 105 hospitalized patients with ABP in the affiliated Yijishan Hospital of Wannan Medical College were reviewed. The comparative analysis of patients between the 2 groups was conducted in terms of sex, age, duration of hospital stay, fever, hemorrhage, proteinuria, oliguria, laboratory results, radiologic examinations, and prognosis.A total of 83 patients were diagnosed with HFRS during study period. Only 8.43% (7/83) of the total HFRS patients were diagnosed with AP. The differences in the gender, age, and duration of hospital stay between the 2 investigated groups of patients were not statistically significant. The major symptoms for all 7 patients with HFRS complicated with AP and 105 patients with ABP were fever and upper abdominal pain. During the disease course of HFRS complicated with AP, 6 patients experienced hemorrhaging, and 7 patients underwent an oliguric stage, but none of the ABP patients experienced hemorrhaging and oliguria. Among the laboratory results of all patients, the differences in alanine aminotransferase and glycemia were not statistically significant. The other laboratory results (leucocyte count, platelet count, amylase, lipase, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, and serum calcium level) were significantly different during hospitalization. All 7 patients with HFRS complicated with AP received conservative medical treatment and hemodialysis. In the patients with ABP, 21 patients were discharged from the hospital after conservative treatment, 53 patients were treated by endoscopic invasive treatment after stabilization, and 31 patients were treated by surgery after stabilization.AP is not a frequent complication in patients with HFRS. There are differences in clinical manifestations and laboratory findings between the HFRS complicated with AP group and the ABP group; these differences may help in the differential diagnosis and treatment of these 2 types of pancreatitis.

BACKGROUND: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life-threatening disease characterized by an excessive systemic inflammatory response, which can be classified as primary HLH (pHLH) and secondary HLH (sHLH). Viruses are the primary pathogens causing sHLH. Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a rodent-borne disease caused by hantaviruses. Its main characteristics include fever, circulatory collapse with hypotension, hemorrhage, and acute kidney injury. The case of HFRS presented with sHLH is very rare in clinic. We reported the HFRS inducing by Hantaan virus (HTNV) presented with sHLH as the first case in Shaanxi province of west China. CASE PRESENTATION: A case of HFRS in 69-year-old Chinese woman, which had persistent fever, cytopenia, coagulopathy, ferritin significantly increased, hepatosplenomegaly and superficial lymphadenopathy. The hemophagocytosis was found in bone marrow, which was consistent with the characteristics of the HLH. The patient recovered completely after timely comprehensive treatments. CONCLUSIONS: HTNV should be considered as one of the underlying viruses resulting in hemophagocytosis, and if occurs, the early diagnosis and rapid therapeutic intervention are very important to the prognosis of sHLH.

Background: Puumala virus infection or nephropathia epidemica (NE) is common in northern Sweden. NE causes haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. Most patients make a full recovery, but a convalescent phase with fatigue has been reported. Although post-infectious fatigue has been demonstrated for other viral infections, it is not well studied in relation to NE. This study assessed recovery time and levels of fatigue in former NE patients, as compared to the general population. Methods: NE patients diagnosed in northern Sweden between 2007 and 2011, together with a comparison sample from the general population, answered a questionnaire on demographic and health-related factors, including the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), and characteristics of NE infection. Self-reported recovery time was assessed, and fatigue levels were compared across the two groups by multiple linear regression, stratified by gender. Results: In total, 1132 NE patients and 915 comparison group subjects participated. Time to complete recovery was reported to exceed 3 months for 47% and 6 months for 32% of the NE patients. Recovery time differed by gender and age. NE patients had significantly higher FSS scores than the comparison group. Differences were greater among women than men, and adjustments for current illness, body mass index, smoking and current residence only slightly modified the estimates. Conclusions: Individuals with previous NE infection show higher fatigue scores than non-infected individuals, even 5 years following the infection. Full recovery takes half a year or longer for a substantial proportion of former NE patients.

Several case reports have described hypopituitarism following orthohantavirus infection, mostly following Puumala virus. The pathogenesis of this seemingly rare complication of orthohantavirus infection remains unknown. This review explores the possible pathophysiological mechanisms of pituitary damage due to orthohantavirus infection. In only three out of the 28 reported cases, hypopituitarism was detected during active infection. In the remaining cases, detection of pituitary damage was delayed, varying from two months up to thirteen months post-infection. In these cases, hypopituitarism remained undetected during the acute phase of infection or only occurred weeks to months post infection. Both ischemic and hemorrhagic damage of the pituitary gland have been detected in radiographic imaging and post-mortem studies in the studied case reports series. Ischemic damage could be caused by hypotension and/or vasospasms during the acute phase of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) while hemorrhage could be caused by thrombocytopenia, thrombopathy, and other known causes of coagulation disorders during orthohantavirus infection. Also, hypophysitis due to the presence of auto-antibodies have been suggested in the literature. In conclusion, a significant number of case reports and series describe hypopituitarism after orthohantavirus infection. In most cases hypopituitarism was diagnosed with a delay and therefore could very well be underreported. Clinicians should be aware of this potential endocrine complication, with substantial morbidity, and if unrecognized, significant mortality.

Objective: This study analyzed the significance of procalcitonin (PCT) in patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) caused by Hantaan virus. Methods: The demographics and clinical and laboratory data including PCT at hospital admission in 146 adults with HFRS were retrospectively analyzed. Results: PCT level was significantly higher in severe patients (n = 72) than in mild patients (n = 74, p < 0.001) and independently associated with disease severity (OR 2.544, 95% CI 1.330-4.868, p = 0.005). PCT had an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) value of 0.738 (95% CI 0.657-0.820, p < 0.001) for predicting severity. PCT level was significantly increased in patients with bacterial infection (n = 87) compared with those without (n = 59, p = 0.037) and associated with bacterial infection (OR 1.685, 95% CI 1.026-2.768, p = 0.039). The AUC value of PCT for predicting bacterial infection was 0.618 (95% CI 0.524-0.711, p = 0.016). PCT level was significantly elevated in non-survivors (n = 13) compared with survivors (n = 133, p < 0.001) and independently associated with mortality (OR 1.075, 95% CI 1.003-1.152, p = 0.041). The AUC value of PCT for predicting mortality was 0.819 (95% CI 0.724-0.914, p < 0.001). Conclusion: PCT concentrations at admission would be predictive of disease severity, secondary bacterial infection and mortality in patients with HFRS caused by Hantaan virus.

We evaluated the mechanisms of thrombocytopenia and procoagulant changes in relation with clinical variables in a cohort of patients with acute hantavirus disease.Blood samples of 33 prospectively recruited, consecutive, hospitalized patients with acute Puumala virus-induced hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) were collected acutely and at the recovery visit (control). Serum thrombopoietin (TPO) and activity of plasma microparticles (MPs) from various cell sources were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay-based methods. The results were related to data on platelet indices and functions, coagulation variables, and clinical disease.Serum TPO was nearly 4-fold higher acutely compared with the control (median 207 pg/mL, range 56-1258 pg/mL vs. median 58 pg/mL, range 11-241 pg/mL, P < 0.001) and coincided with high mean platelet volume (MPV) and immature platelet fraction (IPF%). Prothrombin fragments and D-dimer were high acutely compared with the control (F1 + 2 median 704 pmol/L, range 284-1875 pmol/L vs. median 249 pmol/L, range 118-556 pmol/L, P < 0.001; D-dimer median 2.8 mg/L, range 0.6-34.0 mg/L vs. median 0.4 mg/L, range 0.2-1.1 mg/L, P < 0.001), and associated with low platelet count and severe acute kidney injury (AKI). MPs' procoagulant activity was high acutely only among patients with mild AKI (plasma creatinine below the median at the time of the measurement).Upregulated TPO together with high MPV and IPF% confirm active thrombopoiesis, but do not predict severity of HFRS. Simultaneously, elevated prothrombin fragments and D-dimer suggest increased consumption of platelets in patients with severe AKI. Activity of platelet-derived MPs in HFRS should be studied with flow cytometry in a larger cohort of patients.

BACKGROUND: The rodent borne Puumala hantavirus (PUUV) causes haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in central and northern Europe. The number of cases has increased and northern Sweden has experienced large outbreaks in 1998 and 2006-2007 which raised questions regarding the level of immunity in the human population. METHODS: A randomly selected population aged between 25 and 74 years from northern Sweden were invited during 2009 to participate in a WHO project for monitoring of trends and determinants in cardiovascular disease. Health and risk factors were evaluated and sera from 1,600 participants were available for analysis for specific PUUV IgG antibodies using a recombinant PUUV nucleocapsid protein ELISA. RESULTS: The overall seroprevalence in the investigated population was 13.4 %, which is a 50 % increase compared to a similar study only two decades previously. The prevalence of PUUV IgG increased with age, and among 65-75 years it was 22 %. More men (15.3 %) than women (11.4 %) were seropositive (p < 0.05). The identified risk factors were smoking (OR = 1.67), living in rural areas (OR = 1.92), and owning farmland or forest (OR = 2.44). No associations were found between previous PUUV exposure and chronic lung disease, diabetes, hypertension, renal dysfunction, stroke or myocardial infarction. CONCLUSIONS: PUUV is a common infection in northern Sweden and there is a high life time risk to acquire PUUV infection in endemic areas. Certain risk factors as living in rural areas and smoking were identified. Groups with increased risk should be targeted for future vaccination when available, and should also be informed about appropriate protection from rodent secreta.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Hantaviruses are zoonotic pathogens causing emerging diseases worldwide. Patients typically present with fever, acute kidney injury (AKI) and thrombocytopenia. Puumala virus (PUUV) that causes nephropathia epidemica (NE) is common in Germany. Recently, a study from Finland revealed an association between nicotine consumption and the severity of AKI in NE. Differences between individuals in Finland and Germany might modulate the effect; therefore, the aim of our study was to prove that smoking is a risk factor for a severe course of NE in Germany. METHODS: A cross-sectional prospective survey of 485 patients with hantavirus infections was performed. Clinical and laboratory data during the acute course of the disease were obtained from medical reports and files, while follow-up (including smoking status) data were collected prospectively. RESULTS: Smoking information was available for 298 out of 485 patients (61%). Male was the predominant gender (67%), median age at the time of diagnosis was 50 (interquartile range, IQR 41-60) years and 34% of patients were current smokers during the phase of acute NE. Patients in the smoking group were significantly younger than in the non-smoking group (p < 0.0001). Peak serum creatinine levels were significantly higher in the smoking group than in the non-smoking patients (median 301 (IQR 186-469 µmol/l) vs. median 240 (IQR 137-469 µmol/l), p < 0.05). In addition, severe AKI (stages 2 and 3 using KDIGO criteria) was more common in current smokers (80%) than in the non-smokers (68%, p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Current smoking is a risk factor for severity of AKI in patients with acute PUUV infection in Germany. Therefore, information about smoking habits needs to be an integral part of the documentation in patients with suspected acute PUUV infection, and increased monitoring of kidney function should be done in NE patients who are current smokers.

OBJECTIVE: Nephropathia epidemica (NE) is a haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) caused by Puumala hantavirus (PUUV). Pituitary haemorrhage and hypopituitarism may complicate recovery from acute NE. DESIGN: Forty-seven of our recent cohort of 58 NE patients volunteered to be re-examined in order to estimate the burden of hormonal deficiency 4 to 8 years after the acute illness. Two patients had suffered from pituitary haemorrhage, but many others exhibited pituitary oedema during their acute infection. In this study, we searched for symptoms of hormonal deficiency, performed hormonal laboratory screening, and most patients underwent pituitary MRI examination. RESULTS: The pituitary size had diminished in all patients in whom MRI was performed (P < 0·001). One patient with acute phase haemorrhage had made a complete recovery while the other continued to require hormonal substitution. In addition, hormonal laboratory abnormalities were observed in nine other patients; these being attributable to several reasons, for example independent peripheral hormonal diseases, side effects of medication or other secondary causes such as obesity. None of them had signs of late-onset pituitary insufficiency caused by their previous NE. Health-related quality of life (mean and median 15D score) of patients was comparable to that of age-standardized general population. CONCLUSIONS: None of our patients had developed obvious late-onset hypopituitarism despite of the fact that pituitary gland can be affected during acute NE. We recommend requesting a history of hantavirus infection whenever the possibility of pituitary dysfunction is suspected at least in patients originating from regions with high NE infection rate.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies indicate that smoking affects the outcome of some infections and is a risk factor for Puumala virus (PUUV) infection. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of smoking on the clinical severity of PUUV infection and the prevalence of smoking in patients with PUUV infection. METHODS: A questionnaire on smoking habits was sent to 494 patients in 2012, who had been treated in Tampere University Hospital, Finland, for serologically confirmed PUUV infection during years 1982-2012. RESULTS: Of all patients, 357 (72%) participated. Maximum plasma creatinine level measured during acute illness was significantly higher in current smokers than in non-smokers (median: 273 versus 184 µmol/L, P < 0.001). Current smokers had a higher maximum blood leucocyte count than non-smokers (median: 10.8 versus 8.9 × 10(9)/L, P < 0.001) and they were younger than non-smokers (38 versus 45 years, P < 0.001). There were no differences between current smokers and non-smokers in the other variables reflecting the severity of PUUV infection. Altogether 51% were current smokers at the time of onset of the illness, 57% of males and 36% of females. During these years in Finland, smoking among males in the same aged population has decreased from 33 to 22% and among females, smoking has varied between 14 and 20%. CONCLUSIONS: Smoking is common in patients with PUUV infection. Current smokers suffer from more severe acute kidney injury (AKI) and they have higher leucocyte count than non-smokers in PUUV infection. Smoking cessation decreases the risk of severe AKI to the same level as observed in never-smokers.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is an acute viral infectious disease characterized by fever, hemorrhage and renal failure. HFRS has become a serious public health problem in China. Unfortunately, the pathogenesis of HFRS has not been completely clarified. The aim of this study is to investigate the changes of decoy receptor 3 (DcR3) and to further explore its potential roles in HFRS. The levels of serum DcR3 were measured by sandwich ELISA. We found serum DcR3 levels increased significantly, which reached peak value during the oliguric phase and in the critical group. Moreover, serum DcR3 levels were closely related to the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and parameters reflecting kidney injury including BUN, creatinine (Cr) and proteinuria. This study indicates that high levels of serum DcR3 have associations with the disease stages, severity and degree of kidney damage. Meanwhile, our results suggest that DcR3 may play a dual role in HFRS pathogenesis. First, DcR3 is involved in the inflammatory cascade response resulting in capillary permeability and kidney injury in the early stage. Secondly, HTNV infection induced DcR3 expression at the convalescent phase may act as a feed-back mechanism in anti-inflammatory response. Thus, a study of DcR3 is essential for a better understanding of HFRS pathogenesis.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is due to an infection by the virus of the Hantavirus genus. Rodent hosts of Hantavirus are present in restricted areas in France; consequently, there are ecological niches and microepidemics of human Hantavirus infections. A HFRS case was diagnosed in the Paris region. The 11-year-old child had an acute debut fever-persistent despite antipyretic medication-asthenia, headache, abdominal pain, myalgia, thrombocytopenia, as well as renal failure with proteinuria. The diagnosis was made with a relevant clinical history and the specific serology of Puumala hantavirus. Therefore, a kidney biopsy was not necessary. What was interesting was the diagnostic approach because of the difference between the place and time of contamination and where the child became ill and developed the symptoms. The child was infected by Puumala hantavirus in Les Ardennes, a high-risk area, but became ill in the Paris region, an area with no prevalence. We review Hantavirus infections in France and its differential diagnosis.

RESUMO

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a severe acute disease. Although long-term consequences to public health have been reported, no association with cancer is known. We examined the risk of cancer development after HFRS in the Swedish population between 1997 and 2011 (n = 6582) and report a 73% increased risk for lymphoma.
