To investigate the dampness syndrome score in hypertriglyceridemia and the correlations between hypertriglyceridemia and other chronic diseases and lifestyle factors. Data were retrospectively obtained from individuals who underwent physical examinations at Guangzhou Cadres Health Management Centre from May 2022 to May 2023. t Test, variance analysis, and chi-square test were used to compare the score of dampness syndrome and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia among different subgroups. Pearson, Spearman correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used to explore the correlations between hypertriglyceridemia and dampness syndrome, chronic diseases, and lifestyle factors. The prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia was 26.70%. Clinical test index and dampness syndrome score were significant differences between hypertriglyceridemia group and normal group (P < .05). Subgroup analyses as a function of the degree of triglyceridemia indicated that the dampness syndrome score increased with increasing degree of triglyceridemia (P < .05). Correlation analysis showed that hypertriglyceridemia was correlated with dampness syndrome, overweight/obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic diseases (P < .05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age, sex, marriage, education level, smoking, drinking, fruit consumption, vegetable consumption, milk and dairy product consumption, dessert or snack consumption, the degree of dampness syndrome, and engagement in exercise were associated with hypertriglyceridemia (P < .05). Hypertriglyceridemia is associated with a variety of chronic diseases and lifestyle factors, and is closely related to dampness syndrome. The score of dampness syndrome can reflect hypertriglyceridemia to a certain extent. It provides more clinical reference for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia combined with the analysis of dampness syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMO

Practicing endocrinologists are likely to confront 2 major issues that occur with dyslipidemias during pregnancy. The most dramatic is the development of severe hypertriglyceridemia leading to acute pancreatitis. The second is the approach to treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia, a common genetic disorder. This article reviews the normal physiology and the pathophysiology of lipoproteins that occurs with pregnancy and then discusses the approaches to prevention and/or treatment of dyslipidemia in pregnancy with a focus on lifestyle and acceptable drug therapies.

Central hypothyroidism and dyslipidemia are well-known adverse events (AEs) of bexarotene therapy. Although hypothyroidism is known to cause dyslipidemia, no study has examined the association between hypothyroidism and dyslipidemia in patients undergoing bexarotene therapy. The aim of this study is to examine this association. A retrospective observational study was performed among 294 patients who initiated bexarotene therapy in Japan (nation-wide postmarketing complete surveillance). Jonckheere-Terpstra (one sided) test was performed to evaluate the effect of the bexarotene dose on lipid metabolisms, and regression analyses were performed to evaluate associations of bexarotene dose, free thyroxine (FT4), body mass index (BMI), and lipid metabolisms. Most patients developed hypothyroidism. Two-third of patients showed FT4 values below the lower limit at 1 week. Triglycerides (TG) increased in a bexarotene dose-dependent manner, and grade ≥3 AEs on hypertriglyceridemia was observed in 39% of the patients. Additionally, one-third of grade ≥3 AEs on hypertriglyceridemia occurred within 1 week. The delta_FT4 (difference in FT4 from baseline) negatively correlated with TG increase at 1 week (p = 0.012) but not with low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) increase at any week. Bexarotene-induced hypothyroidism is almost inevitable and occurred quickly. Bexarotene-induced hypertriglyceridemia showed positive bexarotene dose dependency and negative delta_FT4 dependency. Prophylactic and appropriate thyroid hormone compensation therapy and starting bexarotene at low doses with subsequent titration while managing dyslipidemia may have a beneficial effect for the successful continuation of bexarotene therapy without severe endocrine and metabolic AEs.

BACKGROUND: Bexarotene, which has been approved for use in Japan since 2016, is an effective drug for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma; however, careful management is imperative because of its adverse events. We previously demonstrated the severity of bexarotene-associated hypertriglyceridemia and the need for bexarotene dose reduction for patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and high body mass index (BMI); however, high BMI does not affect the efficacy of combined bexarotene and phototherapy treatment. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to verify the effects of BMI on hypertriglyceridemia associated with oral bexarotene therapy. METHODS: We conducted a post hoc analysis of data from a previous randomized, open-label clinical study that compared combined bexarotene-phototherapy treatment with bexarotene monotherapy for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma by dividing patients into two groups based on BMI (<23 kg/m2 and ≥23 kg/m2). RESULTS: No statistically significant association was observed between patients with BMI ≥23 kg/m2 and severe hypertriglyceridemia; however, there was a significant association between BMI ≥23 kg/m2 and severe hypertriglyceridemia for patients who received bexarotene monotherapy, but not for those who received combined bexarotene-phototherapy treatment. The exact reasons for the discrepancies between the results of this thorough analysis and those of our past research are unclear. However, high BMI may be a risk factor for hypertriglyceridemia. Additional unidentified risk factors could also affect treatment outcomes. CONCLUSION: High BMI is the primary reason for hypertriglyceridemia-associated bexarotene dose reduction; however, unexplored risk factors other than high BMI could exist.

PURPOSE: The case of a 47-year-old female patient who underwent sigmoidectomy for metastatic colorectal cancer is reported. Treatment with capecitabine and 5-fluorouracil induced severe hypertriglyceridemia repeatedly. METHODS: Based on laboratory tests and clinical evaluations, treatment was suggested by specialists. FINDINGS: After treatment with capecitabine, the patient's triglycerides increased from 19.7 mmol/L to 42 mmol/L. It was proposed that the patient had multifactorial chylomicronemia syndrome triggered by secondary factors. Statins, fenofibrate, ezetimib, and metformin were added to the therapy. After metastases appeared, FOLFIRI (leucovorin calcium [folinic acid], 5-fluorouracil, and irinotecan hydrochloride) chemotherapy and biological treatment (cetuximab) followed and triglycerides increased to 55.3 mmol/L. IMPLICATIONS: Monitoring triglyceride levels before and during therapy is suggested.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) is increasing. Although the guideline defines the diagnostic criteria as triglyceride (TG) greater than 11.3 mmol/L, there is actually no specific threshold. Many people with hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) or obvious chyloid blood do not develop acute pancreatitis (AP). AIMS: To explore the role of HTG in the pathogenesis of AP. METHODS: Thirty-six male SD rats were randomly assigned into normal control, AP, HTG, HTG-AP, low-dose fenofibrate and high-dose fenofibrate groups. Serum indices and cytokine levels in serum, and pathological changes in pancreatic tissues were observed. The expression levels of TLR4 and NF-κBp65 in pancreatic tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. RESULTS: In normal rats, HTG alone did not induce AP. However, after establishing the HTG-AP model with Poloxam 407 and L-arginine, serum-free fatty acid and TG levels were positively correlated with the levels of lipase, amylase, IL-1ß, IL-6, pancreatic inflammation scores, and the expressions of TLR4 and NF-κBp65 (all P < 0.001). Expressions of TLR4 and NF-κBp65 were significantly increased in the pancreatic tissues of HTG-AP rats. Fenofibrate effectively decreased TG levels in HTG-AP rats and reduced the expression of TLR4 and NF-κBp65 (all P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: HTG does not directly cause AP, but rather increases the susceptibility to AP or aggravates the inflammatory response. It is more like a sensitizer of inflammation rather than an activator.

OBJECTIVE: To report cross-sectionally serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] in women living in Italy within 12 months from breast cancer (BC) diagnosis. METHODS: Baseline data were obtained from 394 women diagnosed with primary BC, enrolled from 2016 to 2019 in a lifestyle trial conducted in Italy. Subjects' characteristics were compared between two 25(OH)D concentrations (hypovitaminosis D<20 and ≥20 ng/mL) with the Chi-squared test or Fisher's exact test for small-expected counts. Using multiple logistic regression-adjusted models, we estimated odds ratios (ORs) of hypovitaminosis D with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in the total sample and in the unsupplemented subgroup. RESULTS: Hypovitaminosis D was found in 39% of all subjects, 60% in unsupplemented subjects, and 10% in supplemented subjects. Increasing ORs of hypovitaminosis D were found with increasing body mass index, 25-30, >30, and ≥35 versus <25 kg/m2 (ORs: 2.50, 4.64, and 5.81, respectively, in the total cohort and ORs: 2.68, 5.38, and 7.08 in the unsupplemented); living in the most southern Italian region (OR 2.50, 95%CI 1.22-5.13); and with hypertriglyceridemia (OR 2.46; 95%CI 1.16-5.22), chemotherapy history (OR 1.86, 95%CI 1.03-3.38), and inversely with anti-estrogenic therapy (OR 0.43, 95%CI 0.24-0.75) in the total sample. CONCLUSIONS: Hypovitaminosis D in women recently diagnosed with BC and participating in a lifestyle trial in Italy was widespread and highest with obesity, hypertriglyceridemia, and chemotherapy use. Considering that hypovitaminosis D is a risk factor for lower efficacy of bone density treatments and possibly BC mortality, our results suggest the need to promptly address and treat vitamin D deficiency.

PURPOSE: We aimed to investigate the association between serum lipid level and tinnitus risk in Korean older adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study used data from the 2016-2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Overall, 6021 subjects aged ≥60 years were included. Hypertriglyceridemia was defined as a serum triglyceride level of ≥200 mg/dL. The high-risk threshold of the total cholesterol (TC)/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio was defined as above 5.0. The presence of tinnitus was assessed via health interviews. Tinnitus severity was classified as "not annoying," "irritating," and "severely annoying and causing sleep problems." Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the association between serum lipid level and tinnitus risk. RESULTS: The odds ratio (OR) of tinnitus was 1.27-times higher in the group with hypertriglyceridemia than in the group without hypertriglyceridemia after adjusting for age, sex, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, anemia, current smoking, obesity, noise exposure, stress cognition, and depressive mood or anxiety [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.04-1.56, p=0.022]. The OR of tinnitus was 1.21-times higher in the group with a high TC/HDL-C ratio than in the group without a high TC/HDL-C ratio after adjusting for the same variables as above (95% CI 1.02-1.44, p=0.025). CONCLUSION: This study revealed that hypertriglyceridemia and high TC/HDL-C ratio were significantly associated with an increased OR of tinnitus in Korean older adults.

PURPOSE: Although several studies have investigated the prevalence of dyslipidemia in adults undergoing bariatric surgery, the experience is limited in adolescents. This study aimed to evaluate the serum lipid profile and prevalence of dyslipidemia in Iranian adolescents with severe obesity undergoing bariatric surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 92 adolescents, aged < 20 years, with severe obesity (body mass index (BMI) ≥ 99th percentile), who were candidates for bariatric surgery were enrolled during 2016-2018. The fasting serum levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were measured in this study. Dyslipidemia was defined as TC, LDL-C, and TG ≥ 95th percentile or HDL-C < 10th percentile for age and sex. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants was 17.32 ± 1.88 years (age range, 11-19 years). Overall, 60.9% of the participants were female. Based on the results, 68.48% of the adolescents had dyslipidemia. The most frequent lipid disorder was hypertriglyceridemia (48.9%), followed by low HDL-C (39.6%), hypercholesterolemia (18.5%), and high LDL-C (16.5%). The serum concentrations of lipid components were not significantly different according to sex and age. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of dyslipidemia was found to be high among Iranian adolescents with severe obesity. Hypertriglyceridemia and low HDL-C were the most common types of dyslipidemia in this population. Therefore, screening for dyslipidemia may be clinically useful in adolescents with severe obesity; timely diagnosis and treatment may prevent the occurrence of coronary events in the future.

BACKGROUND: In Sub-Saharan Africa, the prevalence of dyslipidemia is on the rise, with studies showing dyslipidemia as a contributing factor to the progression of premalignant lesions to cervical cancer. In Uganda, cervical cancer and dyslipidemia are common health concerns, considering the increasing trends of dyslipidemia in the general population and inadequate information regarding dyslipidemia and cervical lesions. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of dyslipidemia and its association with precancerous and cancerous lesions of the cervix among women attending a cervical cancer clinic at the Uganda Cancer Institute. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted from February to April 2022 among women with premalignant and malignant lesions of the cervix. Data on social demographics and health-seeking behaviours were collected using a pretested structured questionnaire after written informed consent had been obtained. Pap smear collection preceded visual inspection with acetic acid; cervical biopsies were collected appropriately from eligible participants; and cervical lesions were classified using the Bethesda system 2014. Serum lipids, total cholesterol (T.C.), high-density lipoprotein (HDLc), low-density lipoprotein (LDLc), and triglycerides (T.G.s) were analysed using the COBAS™ 6000 Clinical Chemistry Analyser. The associations were assessed using the chi-square test, and P ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of dyslipidemia among women with cervical lesions was 118/159 (74%), and low HDLc was the most prevalent at 64.6% (95% CI 39.0-54.3). High T.C. (P = 0.05), high T.G.s (P = 0.011), and low HDL-c (P = 0.05) showed a significant association with precancerous lesions. High LDL-c (P = 0.019), high T.G.s (P = 0.02), and high T.G.s (P < 0.001) showed a statistically significant association with cancerous lesions. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of dyslipidemia was high, with high TC, T.G.s, and low HDL-c significantly associated with precancerous lesions. Also, elevated T.G.s and high LDLc were significantly associated with cancerous lesions. Women may benefit from dyslipidemia screening along with cervical cancer screening. WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS: The present study builds upon previous findings suggesting a link between dyslipidemia and cervical lesions by investigating the relationship between these two factors, specifically in women of this geographical location, where we need adequate information on these associations.

Morbidity and mortality rates in patients with autosomal recessive, congenital generalized lipodystrophy type 4 (CGL4), an ultra-rare disorder, remain unclear. We report on 30 females and 16 males from 10 countries with biallelic null variants in CAVIN1 gene (mean age, 12 years; range, 2 months to 41 years). Hypertriglyceridemia was seen in 79% (34/43), hepatic steatosis in 82% (27/33) but diabetes mellitus in only 21% (8/44). Myopathy with elevated serum creatine kinase levels (346-3325 IU/L) affected all of them (38/38). 39% had scoliosis (10/26) and 57% had atlantoaxial instability (8/14). Cardiac arrhythmias were detected in 57% (20/35) and 46% had ventricular tachycardia (16/35). Congenital pyloric stenosis was diagnosed in 39% (18/46), 9 had esophageal dysmotility and 19 had intestinal dysmotility. Four patients suffered from intestinal perforations. Seven patients died at mean age of 17 years (range: 2 months to 39 years). The cause of death in four patients was cardiac arrhythmia and sudden death, while others died of prematurity, gastrointestinal perforation, and infected foot ulcers leading to sepsis. Our study highlights high prevalence of myopathy, metabolic abnormalities, cardiac, and gastrointestinal problems in patients with CGL4. CGL4 patients are at high risk of early death mainly caused by cardiac arrhythmias.

Hypertriglyceridemia is a type of dyslipidemia characterized by high triglyceride levels in the blood and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Conventional management includes antilipidemic medications such as statins, lowering LDL and triglyceride levels as well as raising HDL levels. However, the treatment may be stratified using omega-3 fatty acid supplements such as eicosatetraenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), aka fish oil derivatives. Studies have shown that fish oil supplements reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases; however, the underlying mechanism and the extent of reduction in CVD need more clarification. Our paper aims to review the clinical trials and observational studies in the current literature, investigating the use of fish oil and its benefits on the cardiovascular system as well as the proposed underlying mechanism.

PURPOSE: The incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EoCRC) is increasing worldwide. The association between hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) and EoCRC risk remains unclear. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a nationwide cohort study of 3,340,635 individuals aged 20-49 years who underwent health checkups between 2009 and 2011 under the Korean National Health Insurance Service. HTG was defined as serum triglyceride (TG) level ≥ 150 mg/dL. According to the change in TG status, participants were categorized into persistent normotriglyceridemia (NTG; group 1), NTG to HTG (group 2), HTG to NTG (group 3), and persistent HTG (group 4) groups. The EoCRC incidence was followed up until 2019. RESULTS: In total, 7,492 EoCRC cases developed after a mean of 6.05 years of follow-up. Group 4 had the highest risk of EoCRC (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 1.097; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.025 to 1.174). While the risk of rectal cancer was significantly increased in groups 3 and 4 (aHR [95% CI], 1.236 [1.076 to 1.419] and 1.175 [1.042-1.325], respectively), no significant risk differences were observed in right colon cancer. In group 4, male sex and diabetes were associated with a further increased risk of EoCRC (aHR [95% CI], 1.149 [1.082 to 1.221] and 1.409 [1.169 to 1.699], respectively). In addition, there was a dose-response relationship between serum TG levels and the risk of EoCRC (p for trends < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: Persistent HTG increased the risk of EoCRC, which was significantly higher only for rectal cancer and marginally higher for other colonic subsites.

The prevalence of periodontitis and dyslipidemia continues to increase, and several studies have reported an association between the 2. Therefore, we assessed the relationship between periodontitis and hypertriglyceridemia using propensity score matching to efficiently address confounding factors, as well as complex sample analysis with data from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey VII (2016-2018). To match the 1:1 ratio between the groups with and without periodontitis, the propensity scores of covariates, such as age, sex, education, income, smoking, drinking, obesity, and diabetes mellitus, were calculated using logistic regression. Both results of logistic regression analysis using complex sample design for whole and matched sample after propensity score matching demonstrated a significant association between hypertriglyceridemia and periodontitis, of which the adjusted odds ratio was 1.28 (95% confidence interval = 1.10-1.50) and 1.29 (95% confidence interval = 1.09-1.52), respectively. Our findings suggest that dental healthcare workers can help raise awareness among patients with periodontitis regarding the association between periodontitis and hypertriglyceridemia, which may help them manage the condition and receive treatment.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of dyslipidemia and the level of blood lipids among Tajik people in Pamir Plateau, Xinjiang, and explore the related factors of dyslipidemia. Methods: It is a retrospective cross-sectional study. A multi-stage cluster random sampling survey was conducted among 5 635 Tajiks over 18 years old in Tashkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang Province from May to October 2021. Data were collected through questionnaire survey (general information, medical history, and personal history), physical examination (height, weight, waist, and blood pressure) and blood test (total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density cholesterol (HDL-C)) to analyze the dyslipidemia and its risk factors among Tajiks. Results: The age of Tajik participants was (41.9±15.0) years, including 2 726 males (48.4%). The prevalence of borderline high TC, high LDL-C and high TG levels were 17.2%, 14.7% and 8.9%, respectively. The prevalence of high TC, high LDL-C, high TG and low HDL-C were 4.1%, 4.9%, 9.4% and 32.4%, respectively, and the prevalence of dyslipidemia was 37.0%. There is a positive correlation between male,higher education level, higher body mass index (BMI) value,waist circumference, living in town, smoking and dyslipidemia. Conclusions: The low prevalence of high TC, high LDL-C, high TG and high prevalence of low HDL-C was a major characteristic of Tajik people in Pamir Plateau of Xinjiang. The lower rates of overweight and obesity may be one of the reasons for the lower prevalence of dyslipidemia among Tajik.

Chemotherapy-induced hypertriglyceridaemia (HTG) is a potential serious adverse event. Severe HTG with triglycerides (TG) >11.3 mmol/L (1000 mg/dL) can cause acute pancreatitis in addition to cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease. While the association of capecitabine (5-fluorouracil (5-FU) prodrug) with clinically relevant HTG is a well-known adverse reaction, 5-FU is not typically associated with HTG. We here report the case of a patient who developed 5-FU-associated grade 4 HTG with TG level raising up to 37.1 mmol/L (3286 mg/dL) occurring after the ninth cycle of adjuvant FOLFOX (Fluorouracil and Oxaliplatin) chemotherapy. Fenofibrate treatment and diet were started. Chemotherapy was postponed and then resumed for two additional cycles. However, severe HTG recurred shortly after. Chemotherapy was therefore permanently stopped. Approximately 8 weeks after chemotherapy discontinuation, TG fell back to range at 2.1 mmol/L (189 mg/dL) allowing interruption of fenofibrate without HTG recurrence at 3 months.

La hipertrigliceridemia severa es una de las principales causas etiológicas de la pancreatitis aguda, donde la literatura internacional la posiciona como la tercera causa. Sus causas gatillantes, comorbilidades, severidad y evolución son importantes de conocer para evitar futuros episodios. En Chile, a nuestro entender, no tenemos literatura sobre esta asociación, por lo que presentamos datos de un hospital terciario, destacando 15 casos de pancreatitis aguda en 5 años de estudio, casi la mitad de ellos con antecedentes previos de hipertrigliceridemia, un porcentaje importante de los casos con cuadros graves y con complicaciones intrahospitalarias y que la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 fue la principal condición asociada a la hipertrigliceridemia severa.


Severe hypertriglyceridaemia is one of the main aetiological causes of acute pancreatitis, with international literature ranking it as the third leading cause. Its triggering causes, comorbidities, severity and evolution are important to know in order to avoid future episodes. In Chile, to our knowledge, we have no literature on this association, so we present data from a tertiary hospital, highlighting 15 cases of acute pancreatitis in 5 years of study, almost half of them with a previous history of hypertriglyceridaemia, a significant percentage of cases with severe symptoms and in-hospital complications, and that type 2 diabetes mellitus was the main condition associated with severe hypertriglyceridaemia.

El síndrome de quilomicronemia familiar (SQF) es unaenfermedad autosómica recesiva rara, con una prevalencia1:200 000 - 1:1 000 000, y se caracteriza por quilomicronemiaen ayunas y niveles muy elevados de triglicéridos (> 880 mg/dl). LPL es el gen más frecuentemente afectado, luego APOC2,GPIHBP1, APOA5 y LMF1; todos ellos comprometen la función de la lipoproteinlipasa endotelial. El SQF suele presentarseen la infancia con dolor abdominal recurrente, xantomaseruptivos, retraso del crecimiento, pancreatitis y, en ocasiones,asintomático. El tratamiento convencional es la restriccióndietética de grasas. Se muestra el resultado clínico de 20 pacientes pediátricoscon SQF reclutados de 4 hospitales en Argentina.


Familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS) is a rare autosomalrecessive disease, prevalence 1:200,000 - 1:1,000,000, andis characterized by fasting chylomicrons and very hightriglycerides > 880 mg/dl. LPL is the most frequentlyaffected gene, then APOC2, GPIHBP1, APOA5, LMF1, all ofthem compromising the function of lipoproteinlipase. FCScommonly presents in childhood with recurrent abdominalpain, eruptive xanthomas, failure to thrive, pancreatitis, andsometimes asymptomatic. The conventional treatment isdietetic fat restriction. The clinical outcome of 20 pediatric patients with FCS recruited from 4 hospitals in Argentina is reported.

RESUMO Objetivo: estimar a prevalência de dislipidemias e os fatores associados em adultos de Rio Branco, Acre. Métodos: estudo de delineamento seccional, populacional, que avaliou adultos (18 a 59 anos) residentes nas zonas urbana e rural de Rio Branco em 2014. As dislipidemias foram definidas conforme os critérios da Atualização da Diretriz Brasileira de Dislipidemias e Prevenção da Ateroscle rose. Empregou-se regressão logística para estimar as odds ratio (OR) e intervalos de confiança de 95% (IC95%). Resultados: a prevalência de dislipidemia, HDL-c baixo, hipertrigliceridemia isolada, hipercolesterolemia isolada e hiperlipidemia mista foi de 56,1%, 37,4%, 23,6%, 9,8% e 3,5%, respectivamente. No modelo final multivariado, apenas a obesidade (OR = 1,86; IC95%: 1,12;3,10) manteve associação estatisticamente significativa com a dislipidemia. Entre os subtipos de dislipidemias, associaram-se à hipertrigliceridemia isolada as variáveis: faixa etária de 40 a 49 anos (OR = 2,17; IC95%: 1,53;4,80); hipercolesterolemia isolada (OR = 2,52; IC95%: 1,23;5,15); HDL-c baixo (OR = 2,53; IC95%: 1,65;3,86); obesidade (OR = 2,10; IC95%: 1,25;3,53); e diabetes mellitus (OR = 5,41; IC95%: 1,46;20,4). Conclusão: a prevalência de alterações lipídicas foi elevada entre adultos. Estratégias de intervenções para diagnóstico, tratamento e intensificação de medidas preventivas e orientações de estilo de vida saudáveis são importantes nessa população.

ABSTRACT Objective: to estimate the prevalence of dyslipidemia and associated factors in adults in Rio Branco, Acre. Methods: a cross-sectional, population-based study that assessed adults (age 18 to 59 years) living in urban and rural areas of Rio Branco in 2014. Dyslipidemias were defined according to the criteria of the Brazilian Guidelines Update on Dyslipidemias and Prevention of Atherosclerosis. Logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI95%). Results: the prevalence of dyslipidemia, low HDL-c, isolated hypertriglyceridemia, isolated hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia was 56.1%, 37.4%, 23.6%, 9.8% and 3.5%, respectively. In the final multivariate model, only obesity (OR = 1.86; CI95%: 1.12; 3.10) maintained a statistically significant association with dyslipidemia. Among the dyslipidemia subtypes, the following variables were associated with isolated hypertriglyceridemia: age group 40 to 49 years (OR = 2.17; CI95%: 1.53; 4.80); isolated hypercholesterolemia (OR = 2.52; CI95%: 1.23; 5.15); low HDL-c (OR = 2.53; CI95%: 1.65; 3.86); obesity (OR = 2.10; CI95%: 1.25;3.53); and diabetes mellitus (OR = 5.41; CI95%: 1.46; 20.4). Conclusion: the prevalence of lipid alterations was high among adults. Intervention strategies for diagnosis, treatment and intensification of preventive measures and healthy lifestyle guidelines are important in this population.
