RESUMO

Electroless nickel plating is a suitable technology for the hydrogen industry because electroless nickel can be mass-produced at a low cost. Investigating in a complex environment where hydrogen permeation and friction/wear work simultaneously is necessary to apply it to hydrogen valves for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. In this research, the effects of hydrogen permeation on the mechanical characteristics of electroless nickel-plated free-cutting steel (SUM 24L) were investigated. Due to the inherent characteristics of electroless nickel plating, the damage (cracks and delamination of grain) and micro-particles by hydrogen permeation were clearly observed at the grain boundaries and triple junctions. In particular, the cracks grew from grain boundary toward the intergranualr. This is because the grain boundaries and triple junctions are hydrogen permeation pathways and increasing area of the hydrogen partial pressure. As a result, its surface roughness increased by a maximum of two times, and its hardness and adhesion strength decreased by hydrogen permeation. In particular, hydrogen permeation increased the friction coefficient of the electroless nickel-plated layer, and the damage caused by adhesive wear was significantly greater, increasing the wear depth by up to 5.7 times. This is believed to be due to the decreasing in wear resistance of the electroless nickel plating layer damaged by hydrogen permeation. Nevertheless, the Vickers hardness and the friction coefficient of the electroless nickel plating layer were improved by about 3 and 5.6 times, respectively, compared with those of the free-cutting steel. In particular, the electroless nickel-plated specimens with hydrogen embrittlement exhibited significantly better mechanical characteristics and wear resistance than the free-cutting steel.

RESUMO

The primary objective of the present study was to produce metal complexes of H4DAP ligand (N,N'-((pyridine-2,6-diylbis(azanediyl))bis(carbonothioyl))dibenzamide) derived from 2,6-diaminopyridine and benzoyl isothiocyanate with either ML or M2L stoichiometry. There are three distinct coordination complexes obtained with the formulas [Co(H2DAP)]·H2O, [Ni2(H2DAP)Cl2(H2O)2]·H2O, and [Cu(H4DAP)Cl2]·3H2O. The confirmation of the structures of all derivatives was achieved through the utilization of several analytical techniques, including FT-IR, UV-Vis, NMR, GC-MS, PXRD, SEM, TEM analysis, and QM calculations. Aiming to analyze various noncovalent interactions, topological methods such as QTAIM, NCI, ELF, and LOL were performed. Furthermore, the capacity of metal-ligand binding was examined by fluorescence emission spectroscopy. An in vitro investigation showed that the viability of MDA-MB-231 and HepG-2 cells was lower when exposed to the manufactured Cu2+ complex, in comparison to the normal cis-platin medication. The compounds were further evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity. The Ni2+ complex has shown promising activity against all tested pathogens, comparable to the reference drugs Gentamycin and Ketoconazole. Furthermore, a computational docking investigation was conducted to further examine the orientation, interaction, and conformation of the recently created compounds on the active site of the Bcl-2 protein.

RESUMO

Microbial Ni2+ homeostasis underpins the virulence of several clinical pathogens. Ni2+ is an essential cofactor in urease and [NiFe]-hydrogenases involved in colonization and persistence. Many microbes produce metallophores to sequester metals necessary for their metabolism and starve competing neighboring organisms. The fungal metallophore aspergillomarasmine A (AMA) shows narrow specificity for Zn2+, Ni2+, and Co2+. Here, we show that this specificity allows AMA to block the uptake of Ni2+ and attenuate bacterial Ni-dependent enzymes, offering a potential strategy for reducing virulence. Bacterial exposure to AMA perturbs H2 metabolism, ureolysis, struvite crystallization, and biofilm formation and shows efficacy in a Galleria mellonella animal infection model. The inhibition of Ni-dependent enzymes was aided by Zn2+, which complexes with AMA and competes with the native nickelophore for the uptake of Ni2+. Biochemical analyses demonstrated high-affinity binding of AMA-metal complexes to NikA, the periplasmic substrate-binding protein of the Ni2+ uptake system. Structural examination of NikA in complex with Ni-AMA revealed that the coordination geometry of Ni-AMA mimics the native ligand, Ni-(L-His)2, providing a structural basis for binding AMA-metal complexes. Structure-activity relationship studies of AMA identified regions of the molecule that improve NikA affinity and offer potential routes for further developing this compound as an anti-virulence agent.

RESUMO

In this study, a new catalyst for catalytic ozonation was obtained by in-situ growth of Mn-Ni3S2 nanosheets on the surface of nickel foam (NF). The full degradation of p-nitrophenol (PNP) was accomplished under optimal conditions in 40 min. The effects of material dosage, ozone dosage, pH and the presence of inorganic anions on the degradation efficiency of PNP were investigated. ESR analysis showed that singlet oxygen (1O2) and superoxide radical (O2•-) are the main contributors of PNP degradation. This study offers a new combination of supported catalysts with high efficiency and easy recovery, which provides a new idea for wastewater treatment.

RESUMO

A flexible, wearable, non-invasive contact lens sensor utilizing nickel-cobalt metal-organic framework (Ni-Co-MOF) based hydrogel is introduced for urea monitoring in tear samples. The synthesized Ni-Co-MOF hydrogel exhibits a porous structure with interconnected voids, as visualized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Detailed structural and vibrational properties of the material were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. The developed Ni-Co-MOF hydrogel sensor showcases a detection limit of 0.445 mM for urea within a linear range of 0.5-70 mM. Notably, it demonstrates exceptional selectivity, effectively distinguishing against interfering species like UA, AA, glucose, dopamine, Cl-, K+, Na+, Ca2+, and IgG. The enhanced electrocatalytic performance of the Ni-Co-MOF hydrogel electrode is attributed to the presence of Ni and Co, fostering Ni2+ oxidation on the surface and forming a Co2+ complex that acts as a catalyst for urea oxidation. The fabricated sensor exhibits successful detection and retrieval of urea in simulated tear samples, showcasing promising potential for bioanalytical applications. The binder-free, non-toxic nature of the Ni-Co-MOF hydrogel sensor presents exciting avenues for future utilization in non-enzymatic electrochemical sensing, including applications in wearable devices, point-of-care diagnostics, and personalized healthcare monitoring.

RESUMO

A ternary hierarchical hybrid Ni@CoxSy/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-reduced graphene oxide (Ni@CoxSy/PEDOT-rGO) is rationally designed and in situ facilely synthesized as electrocatalyst to construct a binder-free sensing platform for non-enzymatic glucose monitoring through traditional electrodeposition procedure. The as-prepared Ni@CoxSy/PEDOT-rGO presents unique hierarchical structure and multiple valence states as well as strong and robust adhesion between Ni@CoxSy/PEDOT-rGO and GCE. Profiting from the aforementioned merits, the sensing platform constructed under optimal conditions achieved a wide detection range (0.2 µM ~ 2.0 mM) with high sensitivity (1546.32 µA cm-2 mM-1), a rapid response time (5 s), an ultralow detection limit (0.094 µM), superior anti-interference performance, excellent reproducibility and considerable stability. Furthermore, the sensor demonstrates an acceptable accuracy and appreciable recoveries ranging from 90.0 to 102.0% with less than 3.98% RSD in human blood serum samples, indicating the prospect of the sensor for the real samples analysis. It will provide a strategy to rationally design and fabricate ternary hierarchical hybrid as nanozyme for glucose assay.

RESUMO

Metal-coordination bonds, a highly tunable class of dynamic noncovalent interactions, are pivotal to the function of a variety of protein-based natural materials and have emerged as binding motifs to produce strong, tough, and self-healing bioinspired materials. While natural proteins use clusters of metal-coordination bonds, synthetic materials frequently employ individual bonds, resulting in mechanically weak materials. To overcome this current limitation, we rationally designed a series of elastin-like polypeptide templates with the capability of forming an increasing number of intermolecular histidine-Ni2+ metal-coordination bonds. Using single-molecule force spectroscopy and steered molecular dynamics simulations, we show that templates with three histidine residues exhibit heterogeneous rupture pathways, including the simultaneous rupture of at least two bonds with more-than-additive rupture forces. The methodology and insights developed improve our understanding of the molecular interactions that stabilize metal-coordinated proteins and provide a general route for the design of new strong, metal-coordinated materials with a broad spectrum of dissipative time scales.

RESUMO

There has been increasing attention given to nickel-cobalt tailings (NCT), which pose a risk of heavy metal pollution in the field. In this study, on site tests and sampling analysis were conducted to assess the physical and chemical characteristics, heavy metal toxicity, and microbial diversity of the original NCT, solidified NCT, and the surrounding soil. The research results show that the potential heavy metal pollution species in NCT are mainly Ni, Co, Mn, and Cu. Simultaneous solidification and passivation of heavy metals in NCT were achieved, resulting in a reduction in biological toxicity and a fivefold increase in seed germination rate. The compressive strength of the original tailings was increased by 20 times after solidification. The microbial diversity test showed that the abundance of microbial community in the original NCT was low and the population was monotonous. This study demonstrates, for the first time, that the use of NCT for solidification in ponds can effectively solidification of heavy metals, reduce biological toxicity, and promote microorganism diversity in mining areas (tended to the microbial ecosystem in the surrounding soil). Indeed, this study provides a new perspective for the environmental remediation of metal tailings.

RESUMO

Herein, a facile and highly effective nonenzymatic electrochemical sensing system is designed for the detection of the antibacterial drug nitrofurantoin (NFT). This electrocatalyst is a combination of a trimetallic Prussian blue analogue and conductive polyaniline coated onto a three-dimensional porous nickel foam substrate. A comprehensive set of physicochemical analyses have verified the successful synthesis. The fabricated electrochemical sensor exhibits an impressively low limit of detection (0.096 nM) and quantification (0.338 nM, S/N = 3.3), coupled with a wide linear range spanning from 0.1 nM to 5 mM and a sensitivity of 13.9 µA nM-1 cm-2. This excellent performance is attributed to the collaborative effects of conducting properties of polyaniline (PANI) and the remarkable redox behavior of the Prussian blue analogue (PBA). When both are integrated into the nickel foam, they create a significantly enlarged surface area with numerous catalytic active sites, enhancing the sensor's efficiency. The sensor demonstrates a high degree of specificity for NFT, while effectively minimizing responses to potential interferences such as flutamide, ascorbic acid, glucose, dopamine, uric acid, and nitrophenol, even when present in 2-3-fold higher concentrations. Moreover, to validate its practical utility, the sensor underwent real sample analysis using synthetic urine, achieving outstanding recovery rates of 118 and 101%.

RESUMO

The transformation of toxic arsine (AsH3) gas into valuable elemental arsenic (As0) from industrial exhaust gases is important for achieving sustainable development goals. Although advanced arsenic removal catalysts can improve the removal efficiency of AsH3, toxic arsenic oxides generated during this process have not received adequate attention. In light of this, a novel approach for obtaining stable As0 products was proposed by performing controlled moderate oxidation. We designed a tailored Ni-based catalyst through an acid etching approach to alter interactions between Ni and NaY. As a result, the 1Ni/NaY-H catalyst yielded an unprecedented proportion of As0 as the major product (65%), which is superior to those of other reported catalysts that only produced arsenic oxides. Density functional theory calculations clarified that Ni species changed the electronic structure of oxygen atoms, and the formed [NiIII-OH (µ-O)] active centers facilitated the adsorption of AsH2*, AsH*, and As* reaction intermediates for As-H bond cleavage, thereby decreasing the direct reactivity of oxygen with the arsenic intermediates. This work presents pioneering insights into inhibiting excessive oxidation during AsH3 removal, demonstrating potential environmental applications for recovery of As0 from toxic AsH3.

RESUMO

Herein, we demonstrate the prospects of tackling several environmental problems by transforming a local rice husk residue into an effective adsorbent, which was then applied for the treatment of real landfill leachate (LL). The study focused on establishing (i) the effect of simple washing on morphological aspects, (ii) evaluating target adsorption capacity for total iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni), (iii) determining regeneration and reuse potential of the adsorbent and (iv) complying to the requirements of worldwide legislations for reuse of treated LL wastewater. The adsorbent was prepared by employing a simple yet effective purification process that can be performed in situ. The LL was collected post-membrane treatment, and the characterizations revealed high concentrations of Fe, Ni, and organic matter content. The simple washing affected the crystallinity, resulting in structural alterations of the adsorbents, also increasing the porosity and specific surface. The adsorption process for Ni occurred naturally at pH 6, but adjusting the pH to 3 significantly improved removal efficiency and adsorption capacity for total Fe. The kinetics were accurately described by the pseudo-second-order model, while the Langmuir model provided a better fit for the isotherms. The adsorbent was stable for 5 reuses, and the metals adsorbed were recovered through basic leaching. The removal capacities achieved underscore the remarkable effectiveness of the process, ensuring the treated LL wastewater meets rigorous global environmental legislations for safe use in irrigation. Thus, by employing the compelling methods herein optimized it is possible to refer to the of solving three environmental problems at once.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Breast cancer ranks second in terms of the highest number of cancer deaths for women worldwide and is one of the leading causes of death from cancer in women. The drug that is often used for chemotherapy is cisplatin. However, cisplatin drugs have a number of problems, including lack of selectivity, unwanted side effects, resistance, and toxicity in the body. In this work, we investigated Ni(II) cysteine-tyrosine dithiocarbamate complex against breast cancer. METHODS: Research on the new complex compound Ni(II) cysteine-tyrosine dithiocarbamate have several stages including synthesis, characterization, in-silico and in-vitro testing of MCF-7 cells for anticancer drugs. The synthesis involved reacting cysteine, CS2, KOH and tyrosine with Mn metal. The new complex compound Ni(II) cysteine-tyrosine dithiocarbamate has been synthesized, characterized, and tested in vitro MCF-7 cells for anticancer drugs. Characterization tests such as melting point, conductivity, SEM-EDS, UV Vis, XRD, and FT-IR spectroscopy have been carried out. RESULT: The synthesis yielded a 60,16%, conversion with a melting point of 216-218 oC and a conductivity value of 0.4 mS/cm. In vitro test results showed morphological changes (apoptosis) in MCF-7 cancer cells starting at a sample concentration of 250 µg/mL and an IC50 value of 618.40 µg/mL. Molecular docking study of Ni(II) cysteine-tyrosine dithiocarbamate complex identified with 4,4',4''-[(2R)-butane-1,1,2-triyl]triphenol - Estrogen α showing active site with acidic residue amino E323, M388, L387, G390 and I389. Hydrophobic and hydrophobic bonds are seen in Ni(II) cysteine-tyrosine dithiocarbamate - Estrogen α has a binding energy of -80.9429 kJ /mol. CONCLUSION: there were 5 residues responsible for maintaining the ligand binding stable. The compound had significant Hbond contact intensity, however, it was not strong enough to make a significant anticancer effect. Though the synthesized compound shows low bioactivity, this research is expected to give valuable insight into the effect of molecular structure on anticancer activity.

RESUMO

In this work, we propose a comprehensive experimental study of the diffusion of nickel ions in combination with different cyclodextrins as carrier molecules for enhanced solubility and facilitated transport. For this, ternary mutual diffusion coefficients measured by Taylor dispersion method are reported for aqueous solutions containing nickel salts and different cyclodextrins (that is, α-CD, ß-CD, and γ-CD) at 298.15 K. A combination of Taylor dispersion and other methods, such as UV-vis spectroscopy, will be used to obtain complementary information on these systems. The determination of the physicochemical properties of these salts with CDs in aqueous solution provides information that allows us to understand solute-solvent interactions, and gives a significant contribution to understanding the mechanisms underlying diffusional transport in aqueous solutions, and, consequently, to mitigating the potential toxicity associated with these metal ions. For example, using mutual diffusion data, it is possible to estimate the number of moles of each ion transported per mole of the cyclodextrin driven by its own concentration gradient.

RESUMO

Although immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC) is one of the most effective methods for purifying his-tagged proteins, it has limitations such as expensive commercial resins and non-specific binding of unwanted proteins to the nickel immobilized on the resin. In this study, biocompatible chitosan and porous chitosan membranes as alternative resins were synthesized for protein immobilization and purification, but finally porous chitosan membrane was selected due to its higher porosity and consequently higher nickel adsorption. Once the membrane was functionalized with nickel ions and its metal adsorption confirmed by EDS and ICP methods, it was used to immobilize and purify recombinant ß-NGF as a protein model with his-tag tail in batch-fashion. Protein binding and purification were also approved by FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and SDS-PAGE technique. Our results indicated that the protein of interest could bind to the nickel-functionalized porous chitosan membrane with high efficiency at pH=7. Furthermore, for protein purification, the pH value of 6 and an imidazole concentration of 750 mM were suggested for the final elution buffer. In conclusion, nickel-functionalized porous chitosan membrane could be a suitable alternative to IMAC for low cost and specific protein immobilization and purification.

RESUMO

Six terpyridinenickel complexes 1-6 were formed by the coordination of 4'-(4-R-phenyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (R = hydroxyl (L1), methoxyl (L2), methylsulfonyl (L3), fluoro (L4), bromo (L5), iodo (L6)) derivatives to nickel nitrate. The compositions and structures of these complexes were analyzed by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), elemental analyses, electrospray ionization mass spectra (ESI-MS), solid-state ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction (1, 2 and 4) studies. In vitro anticancer cell proliferation experiments against SiHa (human cervical squamous cancer cell line) cells, Bel-7402 (human hepatoma cancer cell line), Eca-109 (human esophageal cancer cell line) and HL-7702 (human normal hepatocyte cell line) indicate that they have more excellent anti-proliferation effects than the cis-platin against Siha cells, Bel-7402 cells and Eca-109 cells. Especially, complex 5 showed a rather outstanding inhibitory effect against the SiHa cell line and was less toxic than the other compounds to the HL-7702 cell line, implying an obvious specific inhibitory effect. Therefore, complex 5 has the potential value to be developed as an anticancer cell-specific drug against human cervical squamous carcinoma. Molecular docking simulation, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and circular dichroism experiments show that they prefer to bind to DNA part in an embedded binding manner.

RESUMO

As an important prognostic indicator in breast cancer, human epithelial growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) is of importance for assessing prognosis of breast cancer patients, whose accurate and facile analysis are imperative in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Herein, photoactive Z-scheme UiO-66/CdIn2S4 heterojunction was constructed by a hydrothermal method, whose optical property and photoactivity were critically investigated by a range of techniques, combined by elucidating the interfacial charge transfer mechanism. Meanwhile, PtPdCu nanoflowers (NFs) were fabricated by a simple aqueous wet-chemical method, whose peroxidase (POD)-mimicking catalytic activity was scrutinized by representative tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation in H2O2 system. Taken together, the UiO-66/CdIn2S4 based photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor was established for quantitative analysis of HER-2, where the detection signals were further magnified through catalytic precipitation reaction towards 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4-CN) oxidation (assisted by the PtPdCu NFs nanozyme). The PEC aptasensor presented a broader linear range within 0.1 pg mL-1-0.1 µg mL-1 and a lower limit of detection of 0.07 pg mL-1. This work developed a new PEC aptasensor for ultrasensitive determination of HER-2, holding substantial promise for clinical diagnostics.

RESUMO

Conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have received increasing attention in recent years and present high application potential as sensing elements in electronic sensors. In this study, flexible field-effect transistor (FET) sensors based on conductive MOF, i.e., Ni3(HHTP)2, have been constructed. This Ni3(HHTP)2 sensor has high sensitivity (detection limit of 56 ppb) as well as superior selectivity for NO2 detection at room temperature, which is demonstrated by accurate gas detection in a mixed gas atmosphere. Moreover, by employing six flexible substrates, i.e., polyimide (PI), tape (PET), facemask, paper cup, tablecloth, and take-out bag (textile), we successfully demonstrate the universality of the flexible sensor construction with conductive MOF as sensing film on various substrates. This study of conductive MOF-based flexible electronic sensors offers a new opportunity for a wide range of sensing applications with wearable and portable electronic devices.

RESUMO

The construction of assays is capable of accurately detecting cytokeratin-19 (CYFRA 21-1), which is critical for the rapid diagnosis of nonsmall cell lung cancer. In this work, a novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor based on the co-reaction promotion of luminol@Au@Ni-Co nanocages (NCs) as ECL probe by Ti3C2Tx MXene@TiO2-MoS2 hybrids as co-reaction accelerator was proposed to detect CYFRA 21-1. Ni-Co NCs, as a derivative of Prussian blue analogs, can be loaded with large quantities of Au NPs, luminol, and CYFRA 21-1 secondary antibodies due to their high specific surface area. To further improve the sensitivity of the developed ECL immunosensor, Ti3C2Tx MXene@TiO2-MoS2 hybrids were prepared by in situ growth of TiO2 nanosheets on highly conductive Ti3C2Tx MXene, and MoS2 was homogeneously grown on Ti3C2Tx MXene@TiO2 surfaces by the hydrothermal method. Ti3C2Tx MXene@TiO2-MoS2 hybrids possess excellent catalytic performance on the electro-redox of H2O2 generating more O2·- and obtaining optimal ECL intensity of the luminol/H2O2 system. Under the appropriate experimental conditions, the quantitative detection range of CYFRA 21-1 was from 0.1 pg mL-1 to 100 ng mL-1, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.046 pg mL-1. The present sensor has a lower LOD with a wider linear range, which provides a new analytical assay for the early diagnosis of small-cell-type lung cancer labels.

RESUMO

Nickel (Ni) is an essential element, but it can be phytotoxic in high concentration, which may be caused by high availability in soil solution. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of sources and doses of Ni applied to a dystrophic Red Latosol cultivated with sorghum on i) the availability of the metal in the soil; ii) the impact on biological and biochemical properties of the soil; iii) the absorption and distribution in sorghum plants; and iv) crop productivity. The experiment was carried out within a completely randomized design with two nickel sources [nickel(II) nitrate, Ni(NO3)2 and nickel(III) oxide, Ni2O3], three doses (35, 70, and 140 mg Ni kg-1 soil), plus controls without Ni, with 3 replications. The concentrations of Ni in the soil, soil microbial biomass (SMB), basal soil respiration (BSR), metabolic quotient (qCO2), fluorescein diacetate (FDA) hydrolysis, and urease activity were determined. The concentrations of Ni in the leaf diagnostic and in the plant (shoot, root, and grains) were also measured. In the soil, the concentrations of available Ni remained between 0.21 and 54.01 mg Ni kg-1. Ni2O3 contributed very little to the increase in available Ni. SMB and the FDA hydrolysis were not affected by the Ni source or Ni dose, but BSR and qCO2 had significant increase with Ni application rates, suggesting the soil microorganisms faced stress. Soil urease activity was affected by Ni dose but not by Ni source. The dose of Ni as Ni(NO3)2 decreased the metal concentration in the plant, while that of Ni2O3 increased it. Nickel source did not affect dry mass production of the plants, but grain yield was affected in a dose-dependent manner when Ni2O3 was the source of Ni.

RESUMO

Nitrate pollution in surface water and ground water has drawn wide attention, which has brought challenges to human health and natural ecology. Electroreduction of nitrate to NH3 in waste water was a way to turn waste into wealth, which has attracted interest of many researchers. Using Nickel foam as substrate, we prepared Pd/In bimetallic electrode (NF-Pd/In) according to a two-step electrodeposition method. There are many irregularly shaped particles in the size range of 10 nm-100 nm accumulated on the surface of prepared NF-Pd/In electrode, which could supply high specific area and more active sites for nitrate electroreduction. FESEM-EDS, XRD and XPS analysis confirmed the uniform distribution of Pd and In on the surface of prepared NF-Pd/In electrode, with a mass ratio of 4.5/1. Above 96% of 100 mg/L NO3--N was removed and 95% of NH3 selectivity was reached after 5 h of reaction under -1.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl sat. KCl when using 0.05 mol/L of Na2SO4 as electrolyte. High concentration of NaCl (0.05 mol/L) in the test solution dramatically decreased the NH3 selectivity because the produced NH3 could be further oxidized to N2 by the formed HClO from Cl-. EIS tests indicated that the prepared NF-Pd/In electrode showed much lower electrode resistance than NF due to the adsorptive property and electrocatalytic ability for nitrate removal. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the presence of In could promote the conversion of NO3- to *NO3 during the process of nitrate electroreduction to NH3. Circulating tests demonstrated the stability of prepared NF-Pd/In electrode.
