A rehabilitation center is another form of health care organization that specializes in providing care for particular conditions of patients. Patients admitted in rehab centers range from being accident victims to those suffering with a specific illness. These organizations are becoming extremely valuable in providing patient care services. However, they have not marketed themselves as aggressively as other health care organizations. This article provides an insight regarding rehab centers and examines marketing issues using a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. It further provides some future prospects and challenges for marketers of these organizations.

Comparisons of health care spending between the United States and the rest of the world are frequently made. This article examines macrolevel secondary data comparing health care spending in the United States and other OECD countries, but this comparison does not necessarily present a complete picture. This article puts the US OECD health care spending gap into better context by examining the implications of population differences, quality-of-life spending, obesity trends, and defensive medicine and their contribution to US health care costs.

Physician offices often lack the sense of incorporating appropriate strategies to make their facilities as marketer of their services. The patient experience at a physician's office not only incorporates the care they receive from the physician but also the other non-healthcare related aspects, such as the behavior of non-health professionals as well as the appearance of the facility itself. This paper is based on a primary research conducted to assess what patients assess from a physician office visit.

Herbal product consumption has gained increasing attention by consumers over the past several years. Many assume that herbal products are natural and hence cannot do any harm. However, there is no doubt that the consumption of herbal products has often been influenced by an individual's cultural and racial backgrounds. This article is based on a survey of one such population subgroup--the African-American population. The results from this study will hopefully enlighten the marketers of herbal products and help them in devising appropriate marketing strategies when targeting this particular population subgroup.

Millions of individuals in the United States play some sports or are involved in strenuous physical activities on a regular basis. Unfortunately, many suffer injuries due to these activities. The authors devised this study to determine consumers' perceptions and opinions associated with the injuries that they or someone they know sustained. The results of this study are beneficial to health professionals involved in preventive and rehabilitative medicine as well as sports-related protective-gear marketers.

Web-based distance learning is an up and coming form of education. Web-based education delivered via a Web browser through the Internet has been found to be less expensive, more efficient, and sometimes more effective than classroom training. In the distance learning environment, the traditional "lecture and chalkboard" classroom pedagogy is completely absent. The virtual classroom becomes an "active learning" environment in which students, while utilizing technology, are able to discuss health administration concepts, analyze cases, work exercises, and discuss and share these interactively with both the instructor and fellow classmates. This method of Health Administration Education encourages students to learn from each other and promotes the open exchange of ideas and experiences. It does not require working students to put their careers on hold while they continue their studies. In this paper, we explore the opportunities and challenges of delivering web-based Health Administration courses via the Internet. Included is a discussion of the design, development, and delivery of a distance learning, web-based Health Administration Education system.

The physical layout of a retail pharmacy can play a significant role in the development of the customers' perceptions which can have a positive (or negative) impact on its sales potential. Compared to most general merchandise stores, pharmacies are more concerned about safety and security issues due to the nature of their products. This paper will discuss these aspects as well as the physical and professional environments of retail pharmacies that influence the perceptions of customers and how these vary whether chain, independent, or hospital pharmacies.

The annual global pharmaceutical sales have grown over 466 billion dollars, almost 50% of which comes from North America. Among developing countries, India, with 16% of the world population, accounts for only a small percentage of the global pharmaceutical industry. Until recently, India has had virtually no pharmaceutical industry worth the name producing drugs from basic raw materials and it used to rely mostly on the imports from countries like the USA and England for all its requirements of drugs. On the other hand, India has seen a plethora of multinational pharmaceutical companies come and do business in India. This paper develops a matrix which provides a broad guidance to the mid- to large-size Indian pharmaceutical domestic companies, which should embark on the path to global expansion to establish their might as well.

Dramatic changes in the U.S. health care system have emphasized the need to promote good health. To achieve this, different types of health care professionals have now started working together. These teams often include participants, such as doctors, pharmacists, and nurses. However, there are many health professionals, such as pharmacists, working in noninstitutionalized settings, such as pharmacies, who are not being fully utilized. One of the ways pharmacists can promote good health is by counseling patients. This article provides some insights regarding the various health promotion activities that are or can be performed by pharmacists. Health promotion educators can play a significant role in educating pharmacists to become effective health promoters. Some hypothetical scenarios and examples, as well as models, are also provided to demonstrate active health promotion through pharmacist counseling activities.
