RESUMO

Background: It is essential for nurses who care for individuals diagnosed with mental illness to establish a therapeutic relationship. There is no measurement tool available in Türkiye to assess the therapeutic relationship between patient and nurse. Aim: The objective of this study is to perform a validity and reliability study of the Turkish version of a scale that enables the evaluation of the quality of the therapeutic relationship established between nurses and patients. Methods: 140 nurses were included in this study. The data were analysed using the exploratory and confirmatory analyses. Results: The scale consists of 25 items and four sub-dimensions. In confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), all factor loads were >0.30. As a result of CFA, all fit indices were >0.85 and the root mean square approximation was <0.080. Cronbach alpha was 0.93 for the whole scale. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the TRAS-Nurse scale and its original version were compatible with each other and gave similar results. This scale can be used to determine the therapeutic relationship of nurses who care for psychiatric patients in Türkiye and can be a useful measurement tool when evaluating the factors that may be effective in improving the therapeutic relationship.

RESUMO

The present study was aimed at determining the factors affecting women's decisions of early marriage. The study sample comprised 651 women who were in the 30 and under age group, and had gotten married during their childhood. The study data were collected using the questionnaire developed by the researchers through a literature review. In the present study, those who had Romani ethnic origin, who were primary school graduates, who had parents with lower education and/or whom had low income got married at a younger age. Most of the women who had early marriages were unemployed and vulnerable to spousal violence. It was determined that the women who had love marriages at an early age regretted getting married more compared to those who had arranged marriages and the vast majority of the former ones stated that they would have continued their education if they had not gotten married at an early age. Given the causes of early marriages, it is recommended that women in the at-risk group should be educated about the negative aspects of early marriages that women who have gotten married at an early age and seek support should be helped and that child marriages should be discouraged by preparing stricter legal sanctions.

A self-generated questionnaire was used to gather sociodemographic data and women's exposure to domestic violence. SPSS 16 was used to analyse data. RESULTS: Of the 586 subjects, 321(55%) were aged up to 40 years, while 265(45%) were aged 41 years or more. Domestic violence was reported by 156(26.6%) women. Beating ranked first among physical violence behavior reported by 83(14.2%) subjects. Name-calling and yelling ranked first among verbal violence behaviour reported by 118(20.1%). Keeping women at a certain distance rankedfirst among emotional violence behaviour, reported by 95(16.2%). Not purchasing the fundamental needs of the home ranked first among the economic violence behaviour, reported by 38(6.5%). Finally, 14(2.4%) reported being physically forced to engage in a sexual act, which ranked first among sexual violence behaviour. From among the women abused, 114(66.7%) women said violence occurred because of the instant anger of their partners, and 69(44.2%)said they did not apply to any officialinstitution for help. CONCLUSIONS: Women preferred to remain silent about domestic violence. There is a need to introduce urgent prevention programmes to end domestic violence.
