OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to assess the validity of energy expenditure measurements taken by the Apple Watch 6 and Polar A370 during resting, light- to vigorous-intensity running on the treadmill and ground, and post-exercise of each speed. DESIGN: Randomized cross-over trial. METHODS: This study included 11 male adults (22.5 ±â€¯1.8 years old). Participants were asked to wear the Apple Watch 6 and the Polar A370 simultaneously to measure energy expenditure under various intensities of physical activities on the treadmill and ground, which were then compared with results from a gas metabolism analysis system. RESULTS: Monitoring energy expenditure for both treadmill and ground, the Apple Watch 6 (range: 13.40-50.34 %) had a higher mean absolute percent error than the Polar A370 (range: 12.74-27.70 %) in resting and running state, while the mean absolute percent error of the Apple Watch 6 (range: 9.71-32.81 %) is smaller than that of the Polar A370 (15.79-43.51 %) in post-exercise. The Apple Watch 6 tends to overestimate energy expenditure, with a mean percent error ranging from -6.61 % to 53.24 %, while the Polar A370 tends to underestimate energy expenditure, with a mean percent error ranging from -3.51 % to 11.33 %. No estimated energy expenditure of both devices fell in the equivalence testing zone. CONCLUSIONS: For young adult males, the Apple Watch 6 and Polar A370 provide similar levels of accuracy in monitoring energy expenditure during treadmill and ground running exercise. However, both devices are still inadequate in this regard.

In recent years, fine particulate matter(PM2.5) and ozone(O3) have become the main air pollutants in cities in China. Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) are one of the important precursors of PM2.5, O3, and secondary organic aerosols. The establishment of VOCs emission inventory is therefore of great significance for controlling the amount of PM2.5 and O3. To date, the coefficient method has been used, which has error transmission of activity level, parameter and model, leading to the uncertainty of emission inventory. Multivariate uncertainty quantitative analysis of VOCs emission inventory provides an accurate alternative which has not been reported in China. The bottom-up method is adopted to collect the activity level of each enterprise. The variables of pollution control measures are obtained from surveys conducted with enterprises. The VOCs emission inventory of Qingdao from industrial source is established using an optimized coefficient method. The uncertainty of the VOCs inventory on the impact of univariate and multivariate variables is simulated by combining the Monte Carlo method(MC) with Latin hypercube sampling method(LHS). The results show that the total VOCs emissions were 44700 tons from industrial sources in 2019(unoptimized coefficient method:31100 tons).The rubber and plastic industries, metal products, and oil/coal/other fuel processing contributed more VOCs, which accounted for 40.26% of the total emissions. The uncertainty of multivariate simulation is higher than that of single variable. The uncertainty from process(-9.72%-230.51%) and solvent using source(-14.14%-122.77%) is significantly higher than uncertainty from combustion source(-15.62%-36.41%). The main sectors affecting the uncertainty of the VOCs inventory include:the chemical, papermaking, and textile industries(emission factors); metal, automobile manufacturing, and chemical industries(removal rate, facility operating rate); industries of petroleum processing and ferrous metal smelting(too few samples). VOCs emissions are mainly distributed in the east of the West Coast New district, north of Dazhu Mountain, south of Jimo district, north of Chengyang district, northeast of Jiaozhou district, built-up area of Pingdu district, and southeast of Laixi district.

Greenway is a kind of corridors in the city that takes natural elements as the main constituent foundation and connects open spaces with functions such as leisure and recreation. The assessment of the built greenway is a review of the past construction experiences, and it is also a supplement and improvement to the future greenway planning concept system, which has important academic and application value. This study will explore how greenway design factors influenced the local cyclists' perception of the landscape using on-site questionnaire and photo rating method. The results indicated that greenways with continuous cycling paths, high security awareness, open landscapes, and rich human activities evoke positive perceptions. Among the visual elements, natural elements such as plants and sky are more favorable than artificial elements. The research results show that the formation of greenway cyclists' landscape imagery is affected by visual perception elements, which suggests that special consideration should be given to the laws of cyclists' mental perception when designing greenways.

Infants who are small for gestational age (SGA) are at increased risk of neonatal and infant death, non-communicable diseases and growth retardation. However, the epidemiological characteristics of SGA remain unclear. We aim to explore the prevalence of SGA and to examine its socioeconomic associations by using data from 21 cities. 10,515,494 single live birth records between 2014 and 2019 from the Guangdong Women and Children Health Information System were included in the study. Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze the prevalence trend of SGA and its distribution. We also analyze the associations between the prevalence of SGA and per-capita GDP. The prevalence of SGA in Guangdong Province from the years 2014-2019 was 13.17%, 12.96%, 11.96%, 12.72%, 11.45%, 11.30% respectively, and the overall prevalence was 12.28%. The prevalence of term SGA infants in Guangdong Province was 12.50%, which was much higher than that of preterm SGA (7.71%). There was a significant negative correlation between the SGA prevalence and per-capita GDP in 21 cities of Guangdong Province. The level of economic development may affect the prevalence of SGA. The prevalence of SGA in full term infants is significantly higher than in premature infants, suggesting that most SGA infants may be born at a later gestational age.

Using the Pearlin stress process model, the present study aimed to test if there was an association between caregiving intensity and caregiver burden, to analyze what type of association existed, and to test if different indicators of social support moderated such association among caregivers of people with dementia. Data from the baseline assessment of the Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregiver Health (REACH II) (N = 637) were used. Caregiver burden (12-item Zarit caregiver burden scale), caregiving intensity (caregiving hours), and social support (Lubben social network, received support, satisfaction with support, and negative interactions) were the main measurements. Separate multivariate regression models were conducted with Stata 16. The results showed that the relationship between caregiving hours and caregiver burden was a nonlinear inversed U shape after controlling all of the socio-demographic variables. Further analyses showed that when caregiving hours reached 14 hours per day, the levels of burden were the highest. In addition, received support, satisfaction with support, and social network significantly buffered the relationship between caregiving hours and caregiver burden when they were examined separately. However, only social network played a significant buffering role when examining the four social support indicators simultaneously. These findings suggest the need for programs and practices that emphasize the importance of identifying, gaining, and strengthening positive aspect of social support, especially in how to broaden a caregiver's social network while caring for a family member with dementia.

Objective: Theacrine, a methylurate class purine alkaloid, triggers diverse pharmacologic responses, including psychostimulatory activity by modulation of adenosinergic and dopaminergic pathways. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, theacrine increased energy, concentration, and mood, while reducing fatigue. Because caffeine, a methylxanthine purine alkaloid, is frequently coadministered with theacrine, we sought to determine if a pharmacokinetic and/or pharmacodynamic interaction existed between theacrine and caffeine. Methods: Eight healthy adults received theacrine, as TeaCrine® (25 or 125 mg), caffeine (150 mg), or a combination of theacrine (125 mg) and caffeine (150 mg) in a randomized, double-blind crossover study. Blood samples were collected over a 24-hour period and analyzed by Liquid chromatrography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for theacrine, caffeine, and paraxanthine. Pharmacodynamic response markers, heart rate and blood pressure, were recorded. Results: Theacrine pharmacokinetics was similar following administration of theacrine alone. Caffeine coadministration increased maximum plasma concentration and area under the curve of theacrine without altering theacrine half-life. Theacrine had no impact on caffeine or paraxanthine pharmacokinetics. There was no difference between treatment groups with regard to heart rate or systolic/diastolic blood pressure. Conclusions: Coadministration of theacrine and caffeine results in a clinically significant pharmacokinetic interaction, viz., increased theacrine exposure. Enhanced oral bioavailability is the most likely mechanism by which caffeine alters theacrine exposure. However, further studies examining the contribution of presystemic elimination mechanisms, for example, efflux transport and/or gut metabolism, to theacrine bioavailability are needed to confirm the exact mechanism(s). Hemodynamic parameters were unaltered despite the pharmacokinetic interaction, suggesting that coadministration of caffeine and theacrine is safe at the doses administered.

SonixGPS is a novel real-time ultrasonography navigation technology, which has been demonstrated to promote accuracy of puncture in surgical operations. The aim of this study is to evaluate its application in guiding the puncture during percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). We retrospectively reviewed our experience in treating a total of 74 patients with complex kidney stones with PCNL, in which puncture in 37 cases were guided by SonixGPS system, while the other 37 by conventional ultrasound. The effectiveness of operation was evaluated in terms of stone clearance rate, operation time, time to successful puncture, number of attempts for successful puncture and hospital stay. The safety of operation was examined by evaluating postoperative complications. Our retrospective review showed that although there were no significant differences in stone clearance rates between the groups, SonixGPS guidance resulted in more puncture accuracy with shorter puncture time and higher successful puncture rate. Under the help of SonixGPS, most patients (92 %) had no or just mild complications, compared to that (73 %) in conventional ultrasound group. Post-operative decrease of hemoglobin in SonixGPS group was 13.79 (7-33) mg/dl, significantly lower than that 20.97 (8-41) mg/dl in conventional ultrasound group. Our experience demonstrates that SonixGPS is superior to conventional ultrasound in guiding the puncture in PCNL for the treatment of complex kidney stone.

Public opinion emergencies have important effect on social activities. Recognition of special communities like opinion leaders can contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the development trend of public opinion. In this paper, a network opinion leader recognition method based on relational data was put forward, and an opinion leader recognition system integrating public opinion data acquisition module, data characteristic selection, and fusion module as well as opinion leader discovery module based on Markov Logic Networks was designed. The designed opinion leader recognition system not only can overcome the incomplete data acquisition and isolated task of traditional methods, but also can recognize opinion leaders comprehensively with considerations to multiple problems by using the relational model. Experimental results demonstrated that, compared with the traditional methods, the proposed method can provide a more accurate opinion leader recognition and has good noise immunity.

OBJECTIVE: To understand the human resources of the grassroots institutions of schistosomiasis control and prevention, so as to provide the evidence for formulating the standards of institutional capacity-building. METHODS: By using the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the hierarchy of schistosomiasis control institution workers, structural features of workers, and benefits of workers were investigated and the results were analyzed statistically after the 2004 reform. RESULTS: The constituent ratios of personnel ≤ 30 years old, 30 to 45 years old, and ≥ 45 years old were 6.8%, 64.0% and 29.2% respectively, with an average age of 43.1 years. For education levels, 61.35% of the personnel had secondary or high school levels. At the city level, the structural proportion of the senior professional; medium professional and primary professional titles was 1.4 : 5.6 : 3.0, and at the county level, the proportion was 0.5 : 6.1 : 3.4. There was 14 200 yuan per capita at the township schistosomiasis control institutions. CONCLUSION: The technology of the personnel in schistosomiasis institutions of Hubei Province is weak, the average age of personnel is old, and the salary is low.

To investigate the expressions of PIM-1 and hK2 mRNA in normal prostate, benign prostatic glandular hyperplasia (BPH), and prostate cancer (PCa), and to explore the association of PIM-1 and hK2 expressions with PCa progression. The samples were harvested from 37 patients with BPH, 23 patients with PCa, and three with normal prostate tissues. Total RNA was extracted from their prostate tissues and analyzed for PIM-1 and hK2 mRNA levels using SYBR green I-based quantitative real-time RT-PCR (QRT-PCR) assays and Southern blot analysis. The differences of gene expressions were calculated based on standard curve. Quantitative expressions of PIM-1 and hK2 mRNA in normal prostate, BPH, and PCa were 1.05 +/- 0.04, 2.57 +/- 0.74, 4.45 +/- 0.63, and 1.02 +/- 0.03, 2.264 +/- 0.46, 5.905 +/- 0.78, respectively. PIM-1 and hK2 were expressed higher in PCa than those in BPH and normal prostate tissues, the differences among which had statistic significance (P < 0.05). Our results support the hypothesis that PIM-1 and hK2 play a significant role in the growth of PCa and the detection of PIM-1 and hK2 mRNA expressions by QRT-PCR provided more reliable and helpful information on diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of PCa.
