RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) has emerged as a major public health concern. However, little is known about the burden attributable to specific risk factors. The present study aimed to estimate the temporal trends and geographical variation of CRC burden attributable to a diet low in milk in China. METHODS: Following the general analytic strategy used in the 2017 Global Burden of Disease study, we assessed the age-, sex-, and province-specific mortality and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) of CRC caused by a diet low in milk in China from 1990 to 2017. RESULTS: In 2017, a diet low in milk contributed 32 032 [95% uncertainty interval (UI) = 11 350-53 806] deaths and 726 710 (95% UI = 256 651-1 218 153) DALYs for CRC with a population attributable fraction of 17.1%. The age-standardised mortality and DALY rates per 100 000 were 1.7 (95% UI = 0.6-2.9) and 36.8 (95% UI = 13.0-61.7), respectively. An upward trend with age in rates of mortality and DALYs was observed. Males had higher age-standardised rates than females. The number of deaths and DALYs increased significantly from 1990 to 2017, whereas the corresponding age-standardised rates showed relatively stable trends. In 2017, Hunan and Liaoning were ranked as the top two provinces in terms of disease burden. Socio-demographic index had a weak correlation with the age-standardised mortality (r = 0.348, P = 0.047). CONCLUSIONS: The present study shows a substantial increase in the CRC burden attributable to a diet low in milk over the past three decades. Greater priority in CRC prevention should be given to males and the elderly population throughout China, particularly in less-developed provinces.

RESUMO

A recombinant fowlpox virus vaccine expressing key protective Mycoplasma gallisepticum antigens could facilitate in the prevention both of fowlpox virus and M. gallisepticum infections. Vectormune FP-MG vaccine, a recombinant fowlpox virus expressing both M. gallisepticum 40k and mgc genes, was assessed for its safety in 8-wk-old specific-pathogen-free White Leghorn chickens. The vaccine virus was serially passaged 5 times by wing-web inoculation. Based on the postinoculation clinical observation, gross pathological examination of air sacs and peritoneum, genetic stability evaluation, virus shedding and tissue distribution detection, horizontal transmission ability determination, and protection against fowlpox virus challenge, the Vectormune FP-MG vaccine possesses a high level of safety.

RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate the effects of sleep deprivation on postural control, subjective fatigue assessment and psychomotor performance, and to assess the efficiency of an objective posturographic test as an indicator of mental fatigue. Postural sway using static posturography (Romberg's test), subjective fatigue assessment (Stanford Sleepiness Scale) and psychomotor performance (Sternberg dual-task test) were assessed in 12 subjects before and after 24 h of sustained wakefulness. After sustained wakefulness, the Romberg test parameters of circumference area and rectangle area with the eyes-closed, and standard deviation in the anterior-posterior direction with the eyes-open were significantly higher compared with baseline values (before sustained wakefulness). Subjective fatigue assessment scores were also significantly increased, while psychomotor performance was unchanged. Sleep deprivation can arouse a feeling of fatigue and can affect postural stability, hence an objective posturographic test score may be useful as an indicator of mental fatigue.

RESUMO

Purchase of medical apparatus and instruments is a strict work of taking the patient as a consuming objection. To analyze the trust level in medical apparatus and instruments sales systems and to set up the method of trust level assessment before the purchase, is an important link of ensuring the reality of medical products and consumerism. According to the principle mentioned about, the present article analyses the basic content of assessing factors and their inter-relationship, summarizes their expressions, studies and sets up the mathematical modal and it method. All these are of some value to medical organization in choosing factory owners and their products while the purchasing.

RESUMO

We recently developed an in vivo model which can be used to rapidly assess the local skeletal effects of anabolic agents. In this model, 160 g Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used. A stainless steel cannula was inserted into the marrow cavity of the proximal tibia through the anterior-medial cortex 6 mm distal to the knee joint. The outer opening of the cannula was covered by skin. Agents with known anabolic skeletal effects or vehicle were injected daily for 10 days into the marrow region by a small needle passing through the cannula. Rats were also injected subcutaneously with a fluorescent bone marker to label the newly formed bone. Injection sites were fixed, embedded, and sectioned for histomorphometric analysis of trabecular bone. PTH and PGE2 stimulated a large amount of new trabecular bone formation in regions proximal and distal to the injection site as measured by histomorphometry. Control groups showed minimal bone formation, limited to formation of a thin layer of bony shell immediately surrounding the cannula. The profound anabolic skeletal effects of PTH and PGE2 seen in this Local Injection Model are similar to those seen in systemic injection (i.e. subcutaneous injection in intact or castrated male and female rats) previously reported. This Local Injection Model combines numerous advantages of in vivo models (systemic injection) and in vitro models when assessing agents with anabolic skeletal activities. Compared to conventional in vivo systemic injection models, this model enables detection of anabolic skeletal effects using very small quantities (in microgram) of test agents in a short treatment period (< 10 days).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
