RESUMO

Tripropyl phosphate (TnPP) is a commonly used organic phosphate flame retardant in the textiles, plastics, and coating industries. Residues are commonly detected in samples from the environment and food. The availability of certified reference materials (CRMs) is essential to ensure the accuracy and traceability of detection results. In this study, a comprehensive characterization of a CRM for TnPP was carried out, and its purity was evaluated using two distinct methodologies: mass balance (MB) and quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (qNMR). In the MB method, the levels of structurally related organic impurities are 1.37 mg/g. The water content was determined to be 3.16 mg/g, while inorganic impurities were found to be 0.87 mg/g, and no residual organic solvents were detected. Benzoic acid and monocrotophos were chosen as internal standards for 1H-qNMR and 31P-qNMR, respectively. The purity of the TnPP CRM was assessed as 994.6 mg/g, 994.1 mg/g, and 993.5 mg/g using MB, 1H-qNMR, and 31P-qNMR techniques, respectively. The verified purity of the TnPP CRM was ultimately determined to be 994.1 mg/g, with an expanded uncertainty of 3.4 mg/g (k = 2), ensuring traceability to the International System of Units (SI). This CRM can be effectively utilized for preparing calibration solutions suitable for the routine monitoring of TnPP residues in plastics and food samples.

RESUMO

The deep integration of the digital economy and high-quality energy development is a vital breakthrough in promoting the digital transformation and upgrading of energy, and it is also a critical path to achieving green and low-carbon development. However, the degree of integration of the two has yet to be discovered. This article measures the coupling coordination degree of the digital economy and high-quality energy development using panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2020, explores the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the coupling coordination degree, and further analyzes the driving factors of the coupling coordination degree. The results show that:(1) The coupling coordination degree shows an upward trend, but there are apparent gradient differences and spatial non-equilibrium features in the coupling coordination degree among provinces. (2) The coupling coordination degree shows a "parabolic" spatial trend of "high east and low west" in the east-west direction and an "inverted U-shaped" spatial trend in the north-south direction. (3) The center of gravity of the coupling coordination degree moves to the southwest, clustering in the northeast-southwest direction and showing a spreading trend in the southeast-northwest direction. (4) The coupling coordination degree has a significant positive spatial correlation, and the cold-hot spot gradually develops into a distribution pattern with the Yangtze River Delta in China as the agglomeration center. (5) Economic development, industrial structure, government behavior, environmental regulation, urbanization, technological innovation, and external openness significantly impact the coupling coordination degree. In addition, economic development and human capital have a positive spatial spillover effect on the coupling coordination degree. Urbanization level and technological innovation have a negative spatial spillover effect on the coupling coordination degree. Accordingly, to promote the coupling and interaction between the digital economy and high-quality energy development, the government should take effective measures in optimizing the industrial structure, scientifically promoting the urbanization process, and enhancing the scientific and technological innovation capacity.

RESUMO

We examined whether shared leisure offers protection against negative associations between financial distress and relationship quality (satisfaction and commitment) for lower- and higher-income couples. We expected husbands' and wives' reports of shared leisure would be protective of the effects of financial distress (Time 2) on relationship satisfaction (Time 3) and commitment (Time 4) for higher-income couples (but not lower-income couples). Participants were drawn from a nationally representative, longitudinal study of US newly married couples. The analytic sample included both members of 1382 different-gender couples with data across the three sampled waves of data collection. Shared leisure was largely protective of the effects of financial distress on husbands' commitment for higher-income couples. For lower-income couples, higher shared leisure exacerbated this effect. These effects were only found at extreme levels of household income and shared leisure. When considering if couples who play together stay together, our findings suggest that it can, but it is critical to understand the financial situation of the couple and the resources they may have to support shared leisure activities. Professionals working with couples should consider their financial situation when making recommendation to engage in shared leisure, such as going out for recreation.

RESUMO

Guided by an intersectional feminism framework, we used three-wave, dyadic survey data from a nationally representative sample of 1625 U.S. different-gender newlywed couples to test three research questions. First, as balanced power is considered a key concept for relational well-being in feminism, we examined developmental trajectories in husbands' and wives' perception of power (im)balance. Second, considering money as a major influence on power and aggression, we examined how financial behaviors relate to power (im)balance and in turn relational aggression-a type of intimate partner violence that is controlling and manipulative in nature. Third, informed by the intersectionality between gender and socioeconomic status (SES), we examined gender differences and SES disparities in the associations among financial behaviors, developmental trajectories of perception of power (im)balance, and relational aggression. Our findings demonstrate that newlywed different-gender couples are experiencing power struggles, where two partners diminish each other's influence over time. We also found that healthy financial behaviors are associated with balanced power and, in turn, less relational aggression (especially for wives and in lower-SES households). Taken collectively, we continue calling for efforts to facilitate money management skills and promote balanced marital power.

RESUMO

Organophosphate esters (OPEs), as an important class of new pollutants, have been pervasively detected in global aquatic products, arousing widespread public concern due to their potential bioaccumulative behavior and consequent risks. With the continuous improvement of living standards of citizens, there have been constant increment of the proportion of aquatic products in diets of people. The levels of OPEs exposed to residents may also be rising due to the augmented consumption of aquatic products, posing potential hazards on human health, especially for people in coastal areas. The present study integrated the concentrations, profiles, bioaccumulation, and trophic transfer of OPEs in global aquatic products, including Mollusca, Crustacea, and fish, evaluated health risks of OPEs through aquatic products in daily diets by Mont Carol Simulation (MCS), and found Asia has been the most polluted area in terms of the concentration of OPEs in aquatic products, and would have been increasingly polluted. Among all studied OPEs, chlorinated OPEs generally showed accumulation predominance. It is worth noting that some OPEs were found bioaccumulated and/or biomagnified in aquatic ecosystems. Though MCS revealed relative low exposure risks of residents, sensitive and special groups such as children, adolescents, and fishermen may face more serious health risks than the average residents. Finally, knowledge gaps and recommendations for future research are discussed encouraging more long-term and systematic global monitoring, comprehensive studies of novel OPEs and OPEs metabolites, and more toxicological studies to completely evaluate the potential risks of OPEs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To construct a predictive model for intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) resistant Kawasaki disease (KD) based on the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT), so as to early identify children with IVIG resistance and actively take additional treatment to prevent adverse events. METHODS: The case data of KD children hospitalized in the Pediatric Department of Lanzhou University Second Hospital from October 2015 to July 2020 were collected. All KD patients were divided into IVIG responsive group and IVIG resistant group. GBDT was used to explore the influencing factors of IVIG-resistant KD and to construct a prediction model. Then compared with previous models, the optimal model was selected. RESULTS: In the process of GBDT model construction, 80% of the data were used as the test set, and 20% of the data were used as the validation set. Among them, the verification set was used to adjust the hyperparameters in GDBT learning. The model performed best with a hyperparameter tree depth of 5. The area under the curve of the GBDT model constructed based on the best parameters was 0.87 (95% CI: 0.85-0.90), the sensitivity was 72.62%, the specificity was 89.04%, and the accuracy was 61.65%. The contribution degree of each feature value to the model was total bilirubin, albumin, C-reactive protein, fever time, and Na in order. CONCLUSION: The GBDT model is more suitable for the prediction of IVIG-resistant KD in this study area.

RESUMO

Typhoon storm surge (TSS) is a complex marine disaster affected by multi-risk sources. Quantitative risk assessment is an important prerequisite for identifying risk areas and designing risk reduction strategies. This paper aims to propose a rapid, accurate, and comprehensive quantitative risk assessment method for TSS under multi-risk sources, including disaster occurrence probability and severity. First, identify the primary risk sources according to the disaster-causing mechanism of TSS. Then, based on the official public data from 1989 to 2020, the dependence structure among multi-risk sources is constructed using Copulas to calculate the probability of each superposition scenario. Meanwhile, build visual scenario databases employing Geographical Information System (GIS) techniques. Subsequently, the extent and depth of inundation are translated into economic risk and population risk using GIS and depth-damage functions. Finally, taking the "Mangkhut" as a case study, the method's feasibility and accuracy are verified. The results show that the primary risk sources of TSS are storm tide, astronomical tide and coastal waves. The Gumbel Copula is optimal, with OLS (ordinary least squares) and D of 0.0186 and 0.1831, respectively. The probability assessment under different superposition scenarios indicates that the greatest threat of TSS in Guangzhou comes from the storm tide and the astronomical tide. As for the "Mangkhut" case study in Jiangmen City, the assesses occurrence probability is 0.0355%, the accuracy of economic risk assessment (except mariculture) is 95.28%, and the accuracy of population risk assessment is 98.60%. Residences and the disaster-bearing bodies in 0-3 m inundation depth are most severely affected by TSS disasters. Measures such as locating residential and important buildings away from the shoreline (at least 10 km) and ground (above 3 m), formulating disaster emergency plans, and developing the forecast and prevention of storm tides and astronomical tides will help ensure the safety of residents' life and property. This paper provides an efficient and accurate method, which is of great significance for disaster control, sustainable development, and decision-making.

RESUMO

Transition metal pollution in rivers in South Asia is more serious than in other regions because of the lack of adequate freshwater management measures. Water quality criteria (WQC) for South Asia is urgently needed to protect regional aquatic environments because of the occurrence of transboundary rivers. The present study established non-parametric kernel density estimation species sensitivity distribution (NPKDE-SSD) models and then derived the acceptable hazardous concentration for protection of 95% of all aquatic species (HC5) and WQC of six typical transition metals in South Asia. The results showed that the order of acute and chronic WQC was Mn > Fe > Cd > Zn > Cu > Hg and Cu > Fe > Cd, respectively. A risk assessment of these metals in the Indus River, the Ganges River, the Brahmaputra River, the Meghna River, and the Bagmati River was also carried out. Based on the results, these major rivers in South Asia were highly polluted with transition metals, with significant ecological risks for a large number of aquatic species. This study can contribute to a better understanding of ecological risks in South Asia and provide a scientific basis for the updating of water quality standards and the increase in overall water quality.

RESUMO

Emerging adult newlywed couples often experience many demands on their time, and three common problems may surface as couples try to balance these demands-problems related to finances, sleep, and sex. We used two waves of dyadic data from 1,001 emerging adult newlywed couples to identify four dyadic latent profiles from husbands' and wives' financial management behaviors, sexual satisfaction, and sleep quality: Flounderers, Financially Challenged Lovers, Drowsy Budgeters, and Flourishers. We then examined how husbands' and wives' marital satisfaction, in relation to profile membership, varied at a later wave. We found that Financially Challenged Lovers and Flourishers had significantly higher marital satisfaction than Drowsy Budgeters and Flounderers (mostly medium effect sizes). Whereas, Financially Challenged Lovers and Flourishers did not differ in terms of marital satisfaction, Drowsy Budgeters seemed to have slightly higher marital satisfaction than Flounderers for wives only (small effect size). However, we did not find evidence that these connections meaningfully differed by sex. Implications for the efforts of clinicians and educators are discussed.

RESUMO

The per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are substantially produced and applied in industrial and domestic products, which have recently aroused great public concern for their potential toxicity to humans. In the present study, raw milk (n = 107) and cow feed samples (n = 70) were collected across nine Chinese provinces, in order to investigate the occurrence of PFASs in milk and feed, and the human exposure risk to milk. The concentrations of PFASs are in the range of < method detection limit -9.82 ng/g dw (average: 1.03 ng/g dw) for milk and 0.99-144 ng/g dw (7.68 ng/g dw) for feed. Perfluorobutanoic acid (34.0%) dominates in feed, while perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (67.5%) dominates in milk. No significant positive correlations of PFASs are observed between paired feed and milk (p > 0.05). However, feeds collected around fluorination production area show relatively higher PFAS levels than those from other areas, which also increase PFAS levels in milk. Risk assessment of PFASs through milk consumption is carried out according to evolving reference doses (RfDs). The hazard quotient is more than one for both adults and children when the strictest RfDs are applied. The Monte Carlo Simulation shows that children face higher PFAS exposure risk than adults.

RESUMO

According to economists, rapid economic growth depends on the active energy system of any country. Through financial development, the latest trend of globalization applies pressure on energy consumption, which eventually validates growth in the economy. Therefore, the role of financial development and renewable energy consumption on economic growth is still being questioned. This paper contributes to this issue by raising concerns about the possible asymmetric links among financial development, renewable energy, and economic growth along with capital and labor. Applying a nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag model, our paper demonstrates that neglecting the involvement of nonlinearities leads to confusing conclusions. Results show that variables of interest have asymmetric impacts in short- and long-runs. Our analysis shows that short- and long-run impacts of renewable energy consumption and financial development on growth vary significantly. Notably, this study finds that renewable energy consumption has a positive and significant impact on economic growth in the short- and long-runs, and financial development has a strong, asymmetric, and positive effect on economic growth in the short and negative effects in long-run. The findings also have important implications for policymakers as well as investors in Pakistan's energy sector.

RESUMO

The present study used a cross-sectional survey design to explore the role of ego-depletion in the relationship between self-control and health-promoting behaviors in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This study recruited 277 patients with CHD to measure the levels of ego-depletion, self-control and health-promotion (HP) behavior using Self-Regulatory Fatigue Scale (SRF-s), Dual-Mode of Self-Control Scale (DMSD-s) and Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II) to examine the relationship between the three. Study found that self-control improved the patients' HP behaviors to some extent. Self-control in patients with CHD uses ego-depletion as the mediating variable to indirectly and positively predict the level of HP behavior, and the mediating effects account for 47.76% (impulsive system) and 15.6% (control system) of the total effects, respectively.

RESUMO

The total concentrations of Cd in bulk sediments and those of the BCR sequential extraction fractions of sediments from inlets of the Four Rivers that feed Dongting Lake were determined using ICP-MS techniques. The results suggested that Cd was heterogeneously distributed in the inlet sediments of the rivers, with the highest degree of enrichment in sediments from the Xiangjiang River. The Cd anomaly was defined as Cd enrichment in sediments with an EF (enrichment factor) > 10.0, and it was identified in the inlet sediments of the Xiangjiang River. Cd in the sediments was dominated by acid-soluble Cd at a proportion of 23.9-69.8 (%) compared to its total concentrations in the sediments. The inlet sediments of the Four Rivers were contaminated with Cd, with the highest degree of contamination in the inlet sediments of the Xiangjiang River. The Cd contamination as well as the Cd anomaly in the sediments were closely related to the industrial activities (e.g. smelting and refining for ore minerals) in the areas, and Cd contamination at high levels may represent an ecological risk for the lake watershed. Cd contamination of the inlet sediments may also impact the lake basin sediments and is harmful to the lake ecological system, particularly for sediments of the Xiangjiang River. Therefore, it is essential to control and treat Cd contamination in the inlet sediments for ecological environmental protection of lake watersheds.

RESUMO

Following from an adapted family stress model (FSM), we used two-wave, secondary data from the Building Strong Families project, focusing on 4,424 primarily lower-income, unmarried couples expecting their first child together. We used cross-lagged analyses to test the directionality of the associations among financial difficulties, depressive symptoms, destructive interparental conflict, and coparenting alliance for both fathers and mothers when children were 15 and 36 months old. Two of the three hypotheses provided support for the FSM. First, destructive conflict predicted coparenting alliance (but not the reverse). Specifically, higher destructive conflict at 15 months for both fathers and mothers predicted lower coparenting alliance at 36 months for both fathers and mothers. Second, depressive symptoms predicted destructive conflict (but not the reverse). Specifically, fathers' (but not mothers') higher depressive symptoms at 15 months predicted both their own and mothers' higher destructive conflict at 36 months. Contrary to predictions, financial difficulties did not predict depressive symptoms; instead, we found support for the reverse: For mothers only, higher depressive symptoms at 15 months predicted higher financial difficulties at 36 months. Collectively, the results support the use of the FSM to understand the directionality of associations among key risk factors, especially depressive symptoms and destructive conflict, for primarily lower-income, unmarried couples expecting their first child together. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Emerging adulthood is a life stage with elevated risk for both mental disorders and financial distress. Although a positive link between financial stress and depressive symptoms has been identified, there is a lack of delineation on the temporal dynamics of this link spanning the entire stage of emerging adulthood (roughly ages 18 to 29). METHODS: Using a statistical approach that partitions between-person from within-person variation and based on four waves of data from a college cohort (N = 2,098) throughout emerging adulthood, this study addresses this gap. RESULTS: Latent growth curve model analyses indicate that the trajectory of financial stress throughout emerging adulthood followed an inverted "U" shape, whereas that of depressive symptoms displayed a linear, decreasing trend. The positive correlations of both intercepts and slopes between financial stress and depressive symptoms indicated a co-development pattern. Classical, cross-lagged panel model analyses (i.e., a model aggregating between-person and within-person variation) demonstrated a reciprocal positive association between financial stress and depressive symptoms across waves. Random intercept, cross-lagged panel model analyses (i.e., a model disaggregating between-person and within-person effects) indicated a unidirectional positive within-person effect from depressive symptoms to financial stress across waves, controlling for between-person effects. LIMITATIONS: Shared-method and shared-informant variance may inflate the identified associations, and the correlational data precludes casual inferences. CONCLUSION: Improving young adults' mental well-being, specifically intervening depressive symptoms, could be an avenue for reducing their financial stress. Future research is pressing to examine mechanisms via which depression symptoms manifest as financial stress during transition to adulthood.

RESUMO

The pandemic of coronavirus has dramatically disrupted the retail industry, as many stores are forced to close and people across the world are shelter-in-place with online shopping as the inevitable choice. To meet the rapidly increasing demand for e-commerce, more data centers are expected to provide new or significantly improve existing cloud services that can better support hybrid workloads (e.g. online purchase jobs and batch jobs that support ranking or recommendation systems). Successful cloud systems need to efficiently handle and quickly respond to huge volume of traffic with such hybrid workloads. Meanwhile, it is critical to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for profitability. Improving system utilization is one of the effective techniques to achieve the twin goals of high performance and low TCO. This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis on the 2017 and 2018 cluster traces released by Alibaba, which provides a case study about Alibaba's best practices in improving the performance and cost efficiency of its large-scale cloud systems by consolidating time-sensitive online service jobs with time-insensitive batch jobs. Our investigation indicates that the over-subscription (causing resource waste and low utilization) and under-subscription (causing performance degradation) problems co-exist in the current Alibaba system. We develop a simulator that allows us to evaluate possible solutions to address this problem and their impact on the performance, energy consumption, and TCO. Our experiments show that the estimated TCO can be reduced by $600,000 for the 2018 trace running on over 4,000 machines without compromising performance. The TCO can decrease by nearly $68 million if similar strategy is extrapolated to Alibaba's 432,000 web facing servers.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To identify the clinical correlations between plasma growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15), skeletal muscle function, and acute muscle wasting in ICU patients with mechanical ventilation. In addition, to investigate its diagnostic value for ICU-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) and its predictive value for 90-day survival in mechanically ventilated patients. METHODS: 95 patients with acute respiratory failure, who required mechanical ventilation therapy, were randomly selected among hospitalized patients from June 2017 to January 2019. The plasma GDF-15 level was detected by ELISA, the rectus femoris cross-sectional area (RFcsa) was measured by ultrasound, and the patient's muscle strength was assessed using the British Medical Research Council (MRC) muscle strength score on day 1, day 4, and day 7. Patients were divided into an ICU-AW group and a non-ICU-AW group according to their MRC-score on the 7th day. The differences in plasma GDF-15 level, MRC-score, and RFcsa between the two groups were compared on the 1st, 4th, and 7th day after being admitted to the ICU. Then, the correlations between plasma GDF-15 level, RFcsa loss, and MRC-score on day 7 were investigated. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was used to analyze the plasma GDF-15 level, RFcsa loss, and % decrease in RFcsa on the 7th day to the diagnosis of ICU-AW in mechanically ventilated patients. Moreover, the predictive value of GDF-15 on the 90-day survival status of patients was assessed using patient survival curves. RESULTS: Based on whether the 7th day MRC-score was <48, 50 cases were included in the ICU-AW group and 45 cases in the non-ICU-AW group. The length of mechanical ventilation, ICU length of stay, and hospital length of stay were significantly longer in the ICU-AW group than in the non-ICU-AW group (all P < 0.05), while the other baseline indicators were not statistically significant between the two groups. As the treatment time increased, the plasma GDF-15 level was significantly increased, the ICU-AW group demonstrated a significant decreasing trend in the MRC-score and RFcsa, while no significant changes were found in the non-ICU-AW group. In the ICU-AW group, the plasma GDF-15 level was significantly higher than that in the non-ICU-AW group, while the RFcsa and the MRC-score were significantly lower than those in the non-ICU-AW group (GDF-15 (pg/ml): 2542.44 ± 629.38 vs. 1542.86 ± 502.86; RFcsa (cm2): 2.04 ± 0.64 vs. 2.34 ± 0.61; MRC-score: 41.22 ± 3.42 vs. 51.42 ± 2.72, all P < 0.05), while the other baseline indicators were not statistically significant between the two groups. 51.42 ± 2.72, all r = -0.60), while it was significantly positively correlated with the RFcsa loss (r = -0.60), while it was significantly positively correlated with the RFcsa loss (r = -0.60), while it was significantly positively correlated with the RFcsa loss (r = -0.60), while it was significantly positively correlated with the RFcsa loss (P < 0.05), while the other baseline indicators were not statistically significant between the two groups. CONCLUSION: The plasma GDF-15 concentration level was significantly associated with skeletal muscle function and muscle wasting on day 7 in ICU patients with mechanical ventilation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the plasma GDF-15 level on the 7th day has a high diagnostic yield for ICU-acquired muscle weakness, and it can predict the 90-day survival status of ICU mechanically ventilated patients.

RESUMO

Few studies have attempted to elucidate the occurrence of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) in animal feeds and how they play a role in human ingestion. Fishmeal was the most important animal-derived feed in global husbandry and may have been subjected to PFAA contamination considering the PFAAs' ubiquitous distribution in aquatic ecosystems. We collected ninety-two commercial fishmeal from the most important fishmeal-producing countries and found that Σ16PFAAs ranged from 0.65 to 85.5 ng/g (average: 18.2 ng/g, 12% moisture). PFOS still predominated, with unexpected high detection of PFUnDA. The wide occurrence of short-chain PFAAs (e.g., PFBA, PFBS) in fishmeal were found for the first time. From a geographical view, PFAA levels in fishmeal that originated from the Northern Hemisphere were significantly higher than those from the Southern Hemisphere (p < 0.01). Higher levels of under-studied long-chain PFAAs (PFNA, PFDA, PFUnDA, PFDoDA and PFTrDA) weighted more in industrialized areas than less industrialized areas, whereas the legacy PFAAs (PFOS, PFOA and PFHxS) were comparable among all regions. The estimated daily intake was calculated from animal feed to humans (via cultured fish) from 20 Chinese provinces by the Monte Carlo Simulation. A proportion of 29.8% of residents from the Fujian Province exceeded the EFSA's suggestion for PFOS ingestion.

RESUMO

China's middle-aged and older women suffer from poorer health than men. Using national baseline data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a survey conducted from 2011 to 2012, this article applies logistic models to investigate the association between female fertility history (parity, early childbearing, late childbearing) and middle-aged and late-life health. We find that parity is related to the mid-late-life health of women. Women with four children or more are more likely to suffer from activities of daily living (ADL) impairment and poorer self-rated health than those with one to three children. Early childbearing is associated with ADL impairment; however, the correlation is mediated by socioeconomic status. Early childbearing is related to self-rated health in later life by an indirect-only mediation effect via educational attainment and personal income.

RESUMO

The samples in the surroundings of three representative petrochemical industries in Northwest China were collected by summa canister/adsorption using activated carbon/glass fiber filter, and then they were analyzed for 13 hazardous air pollutants by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry/gas chromatograph/high performance liquid chromatography. The pollution characteristics and human health risk of hazardous air pollutants were discussed. The results showed that 8 hazardous air pollutants existed in the surroundings of all petrochemical industries. The detection frequency for 8 hazardous air pollutants exceeded 80%. The ranges of the average concentrations of benzene series(BTEX), 1,3-butadiene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, benzo[a]pyrene were 48.01-182.75 µg·m-3, 6.28-7.95 µg·m-3, 5.53-12.62 µg·m-3 and 7.03-36.08 ng·m-3. Daily average concentration of benzo[a]pyrene was 1.8-13.4 times higher than the limit of national standard level-Ⅱ, and those of benzene, toluene and xylene were also over their limits of standard to different degrees. The non-carcinogenic risks of benzo[a]pyrene and 1,3-butadiene were beyond acceptable levels around the three petrochemical industries in Northwest China. Meanwhile, the non-carcinogenic health impact of benzene was appreciable on the exposed population of Lanzhou petrochemical industrial area. The carcinogenic risks of benzene, ethylbenzene, styrene, 1,3-butadiene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene and benzo[a]pyrene were beyond acceptable levels. At the same time, the carcinogenic risks of benzene, 1,3-butadiene and 1,4-dichlorobenzene were significantly higher than their acceptable ranges recommended by US EPA.
