The latest Census Bureau figures on the number of uninsured Americans gave more fuel to those behind the new healthcare law. The statistics show 50.7 million had no health insurance in 2009. As the pieces of reform are falling into place, providers are worried about the effect a new board will have on payments. While hospitals are exempt from Independent Payment Advisory Board recommendations until 2019, they're worried how changes to payment to other sectors will affect the system as the era of accountable care organizations dawns.
