RESUMO

Purpose: This study was based on the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database and aimed to analyze the trend of disease burden for complete edentulism in Chinese adults between 1990 and 2030, and to provide valuable information for the development of more effective management and preventive measures. Methods: Data on Chinese adults with complete edentulism from 1990 to 2019 was analyzed using GHDx data. Descriptive analyses were used to analyze changes in the prevalence and burden of complete edentulism, gender and age distribution between 1990 and 2019. In addition, we used an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model to predict the trend of disease burden for Chinese adults with complete edentulism between 2020 and 2030. Results: The incidence, prevalence, and rate of YLDs in adults with complete edentulism in China showed an increasing trend from 1990 to 2019. In 2019, the incidence was 251.20 per 100,000, the prevalence was 4512.78 per 100,000, and the YLDs were 123.44 per 100,000, marking increases of 20.58, 94.18, and 93.12% from 1990. Males experienced a higher increase than females. However, the standardized rates decreased over the same period. The ARIMA model predicts a subsequent upward and then downward trend for all indicators between 2019 and 2030, except for the standardized incidence rate which remained essentially unchanged. Specifically, the incidence is predicted to decrease from 388.93 to 314.40 per 100,000, prevalence from 4512.78 to 3049.70 per 100,000, and YLDs from 123.44 to 103.44 per 100,000. The standardized prevalence and YLDs rates are also expected to decrease. Conclusion: The burden of complete edentulism in China is projected to show an increasing trend from 2020 to 2022 and a decreasing trend from 2023 to 2030. Despite the decline in the burden of disease associated with complete edentulism in China, many problems remain to be solved.

RESUMO

Organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) have been widely detected in multiple environment media and have many adverse effects with complex toxicity mechanisms. However, the early molecular responses to OPFRs have not been fully elucidated, thereby making it difficult to assess their risks accurately. In this work, we systematically explored the point of departure (POD) of biological pathways at genome-wide level perturbed by 14 OPFRs with three substituents (alkyl, halogen, and aryl) using a dose-dependent functional genomics approach in Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 24 h exposure. Firstly, our results demonstrated that the overall biological potency at gene level (PODDRG20) ranged from 0.013 to 35.079 µM for 14 OPFRs, especially the tributyl phosphate (TnBP) exhibited the strongest biological potency with the least PODDRG20. Secondly, we found that structural characteristics of carbon number and logKow were significantly negatively correlated with POD, and carbon number and logKow also significantly affected lipid metabolism associated processes. Thirdly, these early biological pathways of OPFRs toxification were found to be involved in lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, DNA damage, MAPK signaling pathway, and amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism, among which the lipid metabolism was the most sensitive molecular response perturbed by most OPFRs. More importantly, we identified one resistant mutant strain with knockout of ERG2 (YMR202W) gene participated in steroid biosynthesis pathway, which can serve as a key yeast strain of OPFRs toxification. Overall, our study demonstrated an effective platform for accurately assessing OPFRs risks and provided a basis for further green OPFRs development.

RESUMO

With the rapid advancement of electric vehicles (EVs), the burgeoning increase in used power batteries necessitates the development of efficient battery recycling e-platforms. A key challenge in this field is the mismatch between supply and demand. In response, a dynamic optimization model is proposed to capture the non-equalizing supply-demand relationship and its linkage over continuous periods to enable dynamic simulations and predictions of transaction volume changes. Meanwhile, pricing and commission-setting strategies are optimized based on the objectives of maximizing social welfare and platform revenue. The result shows that due to the lower recycling volumes that result, increasing the recycling price usually increases platform revenues, exacerbates environmental costs, and leads to lower social welfare. Moreover, platform revenues are more sensitive to commission rates than social welfare, which is more vulnerable to recycling prices. Furthermore, prioritizing social welfare leads to a higher recycling volume compared to prioritizing revenue, but it also creates an imbalance between supply and demand, destabilizing the recycling market. With the dynamic pricing and commission strategies, this study enriches the literature in the third-party recycling mode for power batteries, offering a novel perspective that is more aligned with real-world operational conditions. Our findings help platforms clarify the impact of pricing and commission decisions on platform revenue and social welfare and thereby provide support for their decision optimization.

RESUMO

The aim of this survey was to evaluate the residue levels, distribution and exposure risk of the 38 most commonly used pesticides in rapeseed samples collected from the main production areas in China over a two-year period. The sampling area covered 12 provinces, including Guizhou, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu provinces. The pesticide residues were determined using a QuEChERS (Quick Easy Cheap Effective Rugged and Safe) method coupled with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. 8.4% of the rapeseed samples contained pesticides with a residue level ranging from 0.001 to 0.634 mg/kg. The detected analytes were imidacloprid, quizalofop-P-ethyl, thiamethoxam, paclobutrazol, prochloraz, tebuconazole, difenoconazole, s-metolachlor, carbofuran, and carbendazim. The concentrations of four analytes, including thiamethoxam, difenoconazole, carbendazim and prochloraz, exceeded the maximum residue level set by the Chinese government for rapeseed, with exceedance rates of 0.1%, 0.1%, 0.1%, and 1.1%, respectively. Based on the index of quality for residues (IqR) values, 91.6% of the total rapeseed samples had an IqR category of Excellent (IqR = 0). Only 1.5% of the tested samples were of inadequate quality. Furthermore, the assessment of chronic and acute exposure, as well as health risks associated with pesticide residues in rapeseed, was conducted for different age groups within the Chinese population, including adults (6-14 years), children (15-49 years), and the elderly (50-74 years). The results of this assessment indicated that pesticide residues in rapeseed cultivated in China are not expected to be of short- or long-term risks to the Chinese customers.

RESUMO

This was an initial effort to treat hemophiliac hematoma by ultrasound-guided intratumoral drainage and lavage with urokinase after adequate supplementation of coagulation factors. Two patients with severe hemophilia underwent ultrasound-guided percutaneous drainage in combination with lavage using urokinase. After 5-day and 3-day treatments, respectively, intramuscular hematomas in both patients disappeared, compression symptom was relieved, and no obvious adverse reactions or serious complications were observed during the treatment or follow-up. These findings suggest that ultrasound-guided drainage combined with lavage using urokinase is an immediate, safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment for intramuscular hematomas in hemophiliacs, avoiding potential complications by surgical resection with relatively low treatment cost.

RESUMO

Before entrepreneurial behavior occurs, individual personality traits have a very important impact on the formation of entrepreneurial willingness. The purpose of this research is to explore the entrepreneurial intention, practice, and management path of college graduates in a green development environment. In this study, three dimensions of green entrepreneurial traits (risk propensity, ecological values, and social responsibility) and three dimensions of green entrepreneurial motivation (fame and fortune motive, spiritual motive and responsibility motive, and green entrepreneurial intention) are determined, and a questionnaire is compiled. Then, the questionnaire survey data of college graduates is collected, and a structural equation model is constructed. The influence of risk tendency, ecological values, and social responsibility on green entrepreneurship motivation is studied in turn, and the influence of fame and fortune motive, spiritual motive, and responsibility motive on green entrepreneurship willingness is explored. Finally, the mediating role of the three dimensions of green entrepreneurial motivation in the influence of green entrepreneurial traits on green entrepreneurial willingness is tested. The study finds that the average score of families with entrepreneurial experience was 4.0526. The average score of families without entrepreneurial experience was 3.6463, and the significance index was at the level of 0.001. The same results as previous scholars have appeared, that is, students with entrepreneurial family background have stronger (green) entrepreneurial willingness. Green entrepreneurship creates green value through green products or services, drives green consumption, leads green values, and contributes to the sustainable development of society and ecology.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This cohort study aimed to compare the performance of the 2015 diagnostic criteria for malnutrition of the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS 2002), Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), and Short-Form of Mini-Nutritional Assessment (MNA-SF) in detecting malnutrition risk and predicting postoperative complications and the failure of early oral feeding (EOF) programs in esophageal cancer patients. METHODS: The 4 tools were used to conduct malnutrition assessments before surgery. The patients were divided into the groups of severe malnutrition and mild/moderate malnutrition and the incidences of the endpoints were observed. Multivariable logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses were conducted. RESULTS: Two hundred and nineteen consecutive esophageal cancer patients were included in the study. The prevalence rates of severe malnutrition as determined by the ESPEN 2015 criteria, MUST, NRS 2002, and MNA-SF were 24.7%, 29.7%, 23.7%, and 16.0%, respectively. The moderate/severe malnutrition risk screened by the MUST had a high sensitivity (100.0%) with malnutrition identified by the ESPEN 2015 criteria. In total, 42 (19.2%) patients experienced major complications, and the incidence rate of EOF failure was 7.3%. The severe malnutrition identified by the ESPEN 2015 criteria, MUST, and NRS 2002 were comparable in predicting the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications, anastomotic leakage, readmission to intensive care units (ICUs), and EOF failure, but the ESPEN 2015 criteria was better in predicting postoperative overall complications, major complications, and delayed hospital discharge. CONCLUSIONS: The ESPEN 2015 criteria specializes in identifying severe malnutrition and is better in predicting adverse surgical outcomes; however, the MUST and NRS 2002 are better superior in detecting early malnutrition and are also valuable in the perioperative management in esophageal surgery. It is recommended that the MUST be used as the malnutrition screening tool before the ESPEN 2015 criteria is applied.

RESUMO

The promotion of information flow reinforces the interactive cooperation and evolutionary process among cities. In the information age, public online search is a typical behavior of Internet society, which is the key to information flow generation and agglomeration. In this study, we attempt to explore the evolutionary characteristics of intercity networks driven by public online social behavior in the information age and construct an information flow network (IFN) from the perspective of public search attention. We also explore the evolution of the IFN in terms of the whole network, node hierarchy, and subgroup aggregation. Meanwhile, we also discuss the impact of the sustainable driving factors on the IFN. Finally, an empirical study was conducted in Guanzhong Plain Urban Agglomeration (GPUA). Our results show that: (1) the information flow in GPUA fluctuating upward in the early study period and gradually decreasing in the later study period. However, the agglomeration degree of information flow in the urban agglomeration continues to increase. (2) The hierarchical structure of urban nodes in GPUA presents a trend of "high in the middle and low on both sides", and the formation of subgroups is closely related to geographic location. (3) The driving factors all impacting the IFN include public ecology, resource investment, information infrastructure, and economic foundation. This study provides theoretical and practical support for exploring the intercity network and promotes the sustainable urban development.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) has been proved to have value and efficacy in the treatment of advanced metastatic cancer, including in the adjuvant setting. However, there is increasing concern about T-DM1-induced thrombocytopenia (TCP), which shows racial differences in incidence. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate differences in the incidence of T-DM1-related TCP between Asian and non-Asian patients by combining accessible information from all single-agent T-DM1 clinical trials published to date. METHODS: We conducted systematic searches of the PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases to identify relevant clinical studies of T-DM1 that reported on safety, including the incidence of TCP, which were published between January 1980 and March 2020. Two reviewers were responsible for the screening and extraction of data. The pooled-effect estimate calculated with a fixed-effects or random-effects model was represented as incidence with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS: A total of 29 studies involving 6,188 patients were included. The incidence of all-grade TCP in Asian patients and non-Asian patients was 0.39 (95% CI: 0.11-0.67) and 0.29 (95% CI: 0.23-0.35), respectively. The incidence of TCP of grade 3 or higher in Asians was 0.20 (95% CI: 0.10-0.29), compared with 0.02 (95% CI: 0.01-0.03) in non-Asians. Gastrointestinal cancer type and a T-DM1 treatment dose of 2.4 mg/kg Q3W were related to grade 3 or higher TCP events. DISCUSSION: Asian patients have a higher risk of developing TCP after receiving T-DM1 than non-Asian patients. Clinicians should be aware of the importance of careful observation of platelet count in patients receiving T-DM1 therapy.

RESUMO

Fourier transform infrared photoacoustic spectroscopy (FTIR-PAS), versus attenuated total reflectance spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRIFT), was firstly applied in quick assessment of rice quality in response to rising CO2/temperature instead of conventional time-consuming chemical methods. The influences of elevated CO2 and higher temperature were identified using FTIR-PAS spectra by principal component analysis (PCA). Variations in the rice functional groups are crucial indicators for rice identification, and the ratio of the intensities of two selected spectral bands was used for correlation analysis with starch, protein, and lipid content, and the ratios all showed a positive linear correlation (R 2 = 0.9103, R 2 = 0.9580, and R 2 = 0.9246, respectively). Subsequently, changes in nutritional components under future environmental conditions that encompass higher CO2 and temperature were evaluated, which demonstrated the potential of FTIR-PAS to detect the responses of rice to climate change, providing a valuable technique for agricultural production and food security.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness of atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel for advanced triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has been demonstrated. We aimed to evaluate its cost-effectiveness on advanced TNBC from the US payer perspective. METHODS: A Markov model was adopted to project the disease course of newly diagnosed advanced TNBC. The clinical data were gathered from the IMpassion130 trial. Cost and health preference data were derived from the literature. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) was measured, and one-way sensitivity analysis and probabilistic sensitivity analysis were performed for exploring the model uncertainties. RESULTS: Our results demonstrated that atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel augmented versus nab-paclitaxel therapy cost $104,278 and $149,465 and yielded an additional 0.371 and 0.762 of quality-adjusted life year (QALY) in in all patients with unknown PD-L1 status and subpopulation with PD-L1-positive, respectively, which led to an ICER of $281,448 and $196,073 per QALY gained. In all patients with unknown PD-L1 status, atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel treatment guiding by PD-L1 expression testing resulted in an ICER of $183,508 per QALY gained. Atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel could maintain a trend of positive incremental net health benefits and >50% probabilities of cost-effectiveness at the threshold of $200,000/QALY in more than half of subgroups with PD-L1-positive. One-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses revealed the results were most sensitive to the hazard ratios (HRs) of overall survival (OS) of atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel versus nab-paclitaxel treatment. CONCLUSION: The atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel treatment is likely to be a cost-effective option compared with chemotherapy based on nab-paclitaxel for the patients with PD-L1-positive advanced TNBC.

RESUMO

Accurate prediction of a patient's length-of-stay (LOS) in the hospital enables an efficient and effective management of hospital beds. This paper studies LOS prediction for pediatric patients with respiratory diseases using three decision tree methods: Bagging, Adaboost, and Random forest. A data set of 11,206 records retrieved from the hospital information system is used for analysis after preprocessing and transformation through a computation and an expansion method. Two tests, namely bisection test and periodic test, are designed to assess the performance of the prediction methods. Bagging shows the best result on the bisection test (0.296 RMSE, 0.831 R2, and 0.723 Acc ± 1) for the testing set of the whole data test. The performances of the three methods are similar on the periodic test, whereas Adaboost performs slightly better than the other two methods. Results indicate that the three methods are all effective for the LOS prediction. This study also investigates the importance of different data fields to the LOS prediction, and finds that hospital treatment-related data fields contribute more to the LOS prediction than other categories of fields.

RESUMO

Background and Purpose: The availability of oncology biosimilars is deemed as a fundamental strategy to achieve sustainable health care. However, there is scarce systematic evidence on economic effectiveness of cancer biosimilars. We aimed to synthesize evidence from pharmacoeconomic evaluation of oncology biosimilars globally, provide essential data and methodological reference for involved stakeholders. Materials and Methods: This systematic review was conducted in PubMed, embase, the Cochrane library, CRD, ISPOR and NICE utill December 31, 2019. Information on basic characteristics, evaluation methodology and results were extracted. Quality of included studies was assessed using the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards Checklist. Results: For 17 studies identified (13 from Europe and four from United States), the overall quality was generally acceptable. A total of seven biological molecules involved with filgrastim, EPOETIN α, and trastuzumab leading the three. The mostly common evaluation perspective was payer, but the time horizon varied greatly. There were ten studies which adopted cost minimization analysis to evaluate efficiency while seven studies adopted budget impact analysis to address affordability, with cost ratio and cost saving being its corresponding primary endpoint. Although the comparability of included studies was limited and specific results were largely affected by uptake and price discount rates of the oncology biosimilar, the comprehensive results consistently favored its promotion. Conclusion: Globally, the economic evaluation of cancer biosimilars is in its initial phase. However, limited evidence from developed countries consistently supported both cost-effectiveness of efficiency and affordability of oncology biosimilars, while they were largely affected by uptake and price discount rate.

RESUMO

The association effect between provincial transportation carbon emissions has become an important issue in regional carbon emission management. This study explored the relationship and development trends associated with regional transportation carbon emissions. A social network method was used to analyze the structural characteristics of the spatial association of transportation carbon emissions. Indicators for each of the structural characteristics were selected from three dimensions: The integral network, node network, and spatial clustering. Then, this study established an association network for transportation carbon emissions (ANTCE) using a gravity model with China's provincial data during the period of 2007 to 2016. Further, a block model (a method of partitioning provinces based on the information of transportation carbon emission) was used to group the ANTCE network of inter-provincial transportation carbon emissions to examine the overall association structure. There were three key findings. First, the tightness of China's ANTCE network is growing, and its complexity and robustness are gradually increasing. Second, China's ANTCE network shows a structural characteristic of "dense east and thin west." That is, the transportation carbon emissions of eastern provinces in China are highly correlated, while those of central and western provinces are less correlated. Third, the eastern provinces belong to the two-way spillover or net benefit block, the central regions belong to the broker block, and the western provinces belong to the net spillover block. This indicates that the transportation carbon emissions in the western regions are flowing to the eastern and central regions. Finally, a regression analysis using a quadratic assignment procedure (QAP) was used to explore the spatial association between provinces. We found that per capita gross domestic product (GDP) and fixed transportation investments significantly influence the association and spillover effects of the ANTCE network. The research findings provide a theoretical foundation for the development of policies that may better coordinate carbon emission mitigation in regional transportation.

RESUMO

Previous studies evaluating the association between X-ray repair cross-complementing group 3 (XRCC3) rs861539 polymorphism and cutaneous melanoma susceptibility reported conflicting findings. To draw a more precise association between XRCC3 rs861539 polymorphism and cutaneous melanoma susceptibility, we searched PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science for case-control studies. A total of eight case-control studies including 3463 cases of melanoma and 4216 controls were included in the meta-analysis. Overall, no significant associations were found between XRCC3 rs861539 polymorphism and cutaneous melanoma susceptibility under all four genetic models (TT vs CC: OR 0.99, 95 % CI 0.86-1.14; TC vs CC: OR 0.92, 95 % CI 0.83-1.01; dominant model: OR 0.94, 95 % CI 0.85-1.03; recessive model: OR 1.05, 95 % CI 0.92-1.19). In the subgroup by source of control, no significant associations were found in hospital-based and population-based subgroup. This meta-analysis suggested that the XRCC3 rs861539 polymorphism was not a risk factor for cutaneous melanoma susceptibility.

RESUMO

Outlier detection is crucial in building a highly predictive model. In this study, we proposed an enhanced Monte Carlo outlier detection method by establishing cross-prediction models based on determinate normal samples and analyzing the distribution of prediction errors individually for dubious samples. One simulated and three real datasets were used to illustrate and validate the performance of our method, and the results indicated that this method outperformed Monte Carlo outlier detection in outlier diagnosis. After these outliers were removed, the value of validation by Kovats retention indices and the root mean square error of prediction decreased from 3.195 to 1.655, and the average cross-validation prediction error decreased from 2.0341 to 1.2780. This method helps establish a good model by eliminating outliers. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pyropia haitanensis and P. yezoensis are two economically important marine crops that are also considered to be research models to study the physiological ecology of intertidal seaweed communities, evolutionary biology of plastids, and the origins of sexual reproduction. This plastid genome information will facilitate study of breeding, population genetics and phylogenetics. PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: We have fully sequenced using next-generation sequencing the circular plastid genomes of P. hatanensis (195,597 bp) and P. yezoensis (191,975 bp), the largest of all the plastid genomes of the red lineage sequenced to date. Organization and gene contents of the two plastids were similar, with 211-213 protein-coding genes (including 29-31 unknown-function ORFs), 37 tRNA genes, and 6 ribosomal RNA genes, suggesting a largest coding capacity in the red lineage. In each genome, 14 protein genes overlapped and no interrupted genes were found, indicating a high degree of genomic condensation. Pyropia maintain an ancient gene content and conserved gene clusters in their plastid genomes, containing nearly complete repertoires of the plastid genes known in photosynthetic eukaryotes. Similarity analysis based on the whole plastid genome sequences showed the distance between P. haitanensis and P. yezoensis (0.146) was much smaller than that of Porphyra purpurea and P. haitanensis (0.250), and P. yezoensis (0.251); this supports re-grouping the two species in a resurrected genus Pyropia while maintaining P. purpurea in genus Porphyra. Phylogenetic analysis supports a sister relationship between Bangiophyceae and Florideophyceae, though precise phylogenetic relationships between multicellular red alage and chromists were not fully resolved. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that Pyropia have compact plastid genomes. Large coding capacity and long intergenic regions contribute to the size of the largest plastid genomes reported for the red lineage. Possessing the largest coding capacity and ancient gene content yet found reveal that Pyropia are more primitive multicellular red algae.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the concordance and correlation between fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assessment for HER-2 status in breast cancer patients and analyze their relationship to clinical characteristics. METHODS: A total of 128 samples of breast cancer tissue were analyzed retrospectively. FISH was employed to detect the HER-2 gene amplification. And the FISH findings were compared with IHC test results by analyzing the concordance and correlation between two results. And their relationships to the clinical characteristics were analyzed. RESULTS: The overall coincidence rate of IHC and FISH was 90.6% (kappa = 0.405, P = 0.000). And the discordance was mainly found in the IHC (++) group. A positive correlation was found between the two results (r = 0.655, P = 0.000). The ER (estrogen receptor) expression was negatively correlated with HER-2 gene amplification and the expression of Her-2 protein (r = -0.300, P = 0.001; r = -0.223, P = 0.011). There was a negative correlation between ER/PR status and HER-2 gene amplification (r = -0.213, P = 0.016). The similar results were found in subgroup analysis. Tumor grade was negatively correlated with the expression of Her-2 protein (r = -0.293, P = 0.008), but not with HER-2 gene amplification (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: IHC is a preferred method to detect the Her-2 status in breast cancer. The strong positive expression (+++) of HER-2 protein tested by IHC is strongly consistent with HER-2 gene amplification by FISH. But HER-2 gene amplification should be further detected by FISH in patients with HER-2 positive expression (+-++) in order to guide the clinical diagnosis and treatment. ER, ER/PR (progesterone receptor) status and tumor grade are correlated with HER-2 gene amplification and/or the expression of Her-2 protein. This study helps improve the accuracy of judging HER-2 gene amplification according to the clinical and pathological features such as ER status and the results of IHC.
