RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Obesity rates have nearly tripled in the past 50 years, and by 2030 more than 1 billion individuals worldwide are projected to be obese. This creates a significant economic strain due to the associated non-communicable diseases. The root cause is an energy expenditure imbalance, owing to an interplay of lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors. Obesity has a polygenic genetic architecture; however, single genetic variants with large effect size are etiological in a minority of cases. These variants allowed the discovery of novel genes and biology relevant to weight regulation and ultimately led to the development of novel specific treatments. METHODS: We used a case-control approach to determine metabolic differences between individuals homozygous for a loss-of-function genetic variant in the small integral membrane protein 1 (SMIM1) and the general population, leveraging data from five cohorts. Metabolic characterization of SMIM1-/- individuals was performed using plasma biochemistry, calorimetric chamber, and DXA scan. FINDINGS: We found that individuals homozygous for a loss-of-function genetic variant in SMIM1 gene, underlying the blood group Vel, display excess body weight, dyslipidemia, altered leptin to adiponectin ratio, increased liver enzymes, and lower thyroid hormone levels. This was accompanied by a reduction in resting energy expenditure. CONCLUSION: This research identified a novel genetic predisposition to being overweight or obese. It highlights the need to investigate the genetic causes of obesity to select the most appropriate treatment given the large cost disparity between them. FUNDING: This work was funded by the National Institute of Health Research, British Heart Foundation, and NHS Blood and Transplant.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The integration of inorganic and organic fertilizers is increasingly being recommended to address the demand for sustainable cotton cultivation and to mitigate the ecological impacts of reliance on inorganic fertilizers. However, the nuanced effects of this combined fertilization approach on soil quality, cotton growth, yield, and their interaction mechanisms, remain unclear. METHOD: To elucidate this, a 2-year field trial (2022-2023) was conducted, incorporating five fertilization treatments: low inorganic fertilizer (BI1), high inorganic fertilizer (BI2), organic fertilizer (BO), combined low inorganic and organic fertilizer (BIO1), and combined high inorganic and organic fertilizer (BIO2). This study aimed to evaluate the influence of these treatments on soil quality, cotton growth, and yield. RESULTS: The results indicate that the BO treatment significantly enhanced plant height growth rate, and BIO1 treatment increased leaf area index and dry matter accumulation growth rate. Critical soil parameters such as alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and available potassium emerged as pivotal determinants of soil quality over the trial period, corresponding to soil quality index (SQI) values of 0.482 and 0.478, and yields of 7506.19 kg ha-1 and 6788.02 kg ha-1, respectively. Water productivity reached optimum levels at SQI values of 0.461 and 0.462, with corresponding efficiencies of 13.31 kg (ha mm)-1 and 12.16 kg (ha mm)-1. Partial least squares path modeling revealed that integrating organic fertilizer with reduced inorganic fertilizer usage significantly boosts cotton yield by enhancing soil quality (path coefficient: 0.842). CONCLUSION: In conclusion, this integrated fertilization strategy not only improves soil health but also increases agricultural productivity. It presents a promising approach for optimizing crop yields while fostering sustainable agricultural practices. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Moslae Herba (MH) can be used for both medicine and food and has a long history of medicine. MH has the effects of sweating and relieving the exterior, removing dampness and harmonizing, and is mainly used for colds caused by damp heat in summer. It is called "Xiayue Zhi Mahuang" in China. So far, 123 chemical compounds have been isolated and identified from MH, including flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic acids, phenylpropanoids, and other chemical compounds. Its chemical components have a wide range of pharmacological activities, including antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic sedation, antipyretic, immune regulation, insecticidal, and other effects. In addition, because of its aromatic odor and health care function, MH also has development and utilization value in food, chemical, and other fields. This paper reviewed the research progress of MH in botany, traditional uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacology and provided a possible direction for further research.

RESUMO

Actinidia arguta, the most widely distributed Actinidia species and the second cultivated species in the genus, can be distinguished from the currently cultivated Actinidia chinensis on the basis of its small and smooth fruit, rapid softening, and excellent cold tolerance. Adaptive evolution of tetraploid Actinidia species and the genetic basis of their important agronomic traits are still unclear. Here, we generated a chromosome-scale genome assembly of an autotetraploid male A. arguta accession. The genome assembly was 2.77 Gb in length with a contig N50 of 9.97 Mb and was anchored onto 116 pseudo-chromosomes. Resequencing and clustering of 101 geographically representative accessions showed that they could be divided into two geographic groups, Southern and Northern, which first diverged 12.9 million years ago. A. arguta underwent two prominent expansions and one demographic bottleneck from the mid-Pleistocene climate transition to the late Pleistocene. Population genomics studies using paleoclimate data enabled us to discern the evolution of the species' adaptation to different historical environments. Three genes (AaCEL1, AaPME1, and AaDOF1) related to flesh softening were identified by multi-omics analysis, and their ability to accelerate flesh softening was verified through transient expression assays. A set of genes that characteristically regulate sexual dimorphism located on the sex chromosome (Chr3) or autosomal chromosomes showed biased expression during stamen or carpel development. This chromosome-level assembly of the autotetraploid A. arguta genome and the genes related to important agronomic traits will facilitate future functional genomics research and improvement of A. arguta.

RESUMO

In order to investigate the durability of two kinds of fiber-reinforced composite materials, and obtain the degradation mechanism and failure model in a hygrothermal environment, E-glass- fiber-reinforced composite materials, glass fiber-reinforced epoxy vinyl ester and glass fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester (named GF/VE and GF/UP, respectively) were chosen to suffer rigorous hygrothermal aging. Their mechanical performance was monitored during the aging process to evaluate their durability. The cause of deterioration of the composite was comprehensively analyzed. Based on the analysis results of attenuated total-reflectance-Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), the change mechanism of chain structure of the resin molecule was proposed. SEM (scanning electron microscopy), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the microstructure and degradation mechanism of the fiber and the interface between fiber and matrix. The degradation mechanism of the composite system, including the resin, the fiber and the interface, was obtained, and it was found that the deterioration of the matrix resin caused by the hygrothermal environment was the main factor leading to the decline in composites performance.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Effective treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) involves a multidisciplinary treatment plan to promote wound healing and prevent complications. Given the lack of consensus data on the factors affecting patient adherence, a systematic review was performed to identify and classify factors according to the WHO Dimensions of Adherence to Long-Term Therapies. METHODS: Six hundred and forty-three articles from PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were reviewed. The inclusion criteria included qualitative and quantitative studies which discussed factors affecting patient adherence to DFU treatment, had study populations that comprised patients with either prior history of or existing DFU, and had either prior history of DFU treatment or were currently receiving treatment. Factors, and associated measures of adherence, were extracted and organized according to the WHO Dimensions of Adherence to Long-Term Therapies. RESULTS: Seven quantitative and eight qualitative studies were included. Eleven patient-related factors, seven condition-related factors, three therapy-related factors, five socioeconomic factors, and five health system-related factors were investigated by the included studies. The largest proportion of factors studied was patient-related, such as patient insight on DFU treatment, patient motivation, and patient perception of DFU treatment. There was notable overlap in the range of discussed factors across various domains, in the socioeconomic (including social support, income, social and cultural acceptability of DFU therapy, cost) and therapy-related domains (including duration of treatment, offloading footwear, and reminder devices). Different studies found that specific factors, such as gender and patients having a low internal locus of control, had differing effects on adherence on different cohorts. CONCLUSION: Current literature presents heterogeneous findings regarding factors affecting patient adherence. It would be useful for future studies to categorize factors as such to provide more comprehensive understanding and personalized care to patients. Further research can be done to explore how significant factors can be addressed universally across different cohort populations in different cultural and socioeconomic contexts.

RESUMO

A carbon tax is effective at curbing carbon emissions, but it is met with low public support due to its high personal cost. Investigations have been conducted to reform carbon tax design to ease the burden on individuals by providing economic compensation, but the cost for governments is high. We propose a new cost-efficient solution by introducing people to a pre-existing reward-based climate policy to create a sense of economic compensation. Across three experiments, we show that the presence of a pre-existing reward-based climate policy increases participants' support for a carbon tax, especially when the innate connection between the two policies is made salient and people regard the reward as compensation for the tax. In contrast, if people are distracted from sensing this interrelationship, support for the tax does not differ from when it is introduced alone. Applicability of this approach was tested under different conditions where the pressure to reduce carbon emission is either high or low.

RESUMO

Hemostasis is a complex process for the cessation of bleeding from an injured blood vessel, involving the interplay of 12 coagulation factors in the coagulation cascade with activated blood platelets and the vessel wall. Hence, the coagulation factors are important to control hemorrhage. However, the low abundance of many coagulation factors in human plasma proteins limited their production in therapeutic drugs and their clinical applications. With the development of modern biotechnology, commercially manufactured recombinant coagulation factors became available as hemostatic therapeutics, emerging a huge potential in pharmaceutical manufacturing market. Unlike antibodies, whose standard operation unit or platform purification processes in the industrial-scale downstream processing has been well-established, the complexity in post-translational modification and differences in structures of the coagulation factors posed specific challenges with respect to the downstream processing, which have long been limiting their industrial-scale production. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the technological development of commercially manufactured recombinant coagulation factors, with emphasis on their advances and challenges in the separation and purification processes. Firstly, the licensed products of the plasma derived and recombinant coagulation factors are summarized. Then, typical recombinant coagulation factors, i.e. factors VII, VIII and IX, are introduced with detailed discussion on their preparative separation procedures for both the licensed products of industrial-scale and the experimental cases of laboratory-scale. Finally, perspectives and challenges in the future development of the purification technology of recombinant coagulation factors are highlighted to provide new insight into the design of cost-effective purification processes of recombinant coagulation factors.

RESUMO

The consequences of relying on solid fuels are disproportionately borne by minorities, the marginalized, and rural communities. However, the social disparities in transitioning from polluting energy to clean energy are not well understood. We track changes in the main energy source used for cooking among Chinese households between 2010 and 2018. We find that the proportion of households who rely on clean energy increased from 53.7% in 2010 to 80.1% in 2018. We detect substantial disparities in clean energy use between rural and urban areas, across regions, and between ethnic minorities and the Han majority. Urban status, regional variations, and household characteristics entirely accounted for the observed ethnic differences in clean energy use. Over time, disparities across rural-urban, regional, and ethnic boundaries declined, and household characteristics became irrelevant to the ethnic differences. Therefore, China's efforts to mitigate the imbalance in socioeconomic development also reduced ethnic inequalities in clean energy use.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: In December 2018, China launched national volume-based procurement (NVBP) to negotiate drug prices with manufacturers. Gefitinib was one of the 25 pilot drugs, which is used for treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Lung cancer is the most common type of cancer in China and targeted drugs like gefitinib have been proven to provide clinical benefits to patients. This study aims to explore the impact of NVBP policy on the usage and expenditure of anticancer drugs. METHODS: Gefitinib and alternative drugs (icotinib and erlotinib) were used as objects of study. Quarterly data from the China Hospital Pharmaceutical Audit database in 9454 hospitals in China were used for analysis. Descriptive analysis was conducted using purchase volume and expenditure as variables. Interrupted time-series (ITS) analysis was applied to further analyse the effect of NVBP policy on the medicines under study. RESULTS: During the 12-month period before (2018Q2-2019Q1) and after (2019Q2-2020Q1) the NVBP policy, the total purchase volume of medicines rose from 4.48 million defined daily dose (DDD) to 7.02 million DDD, with an increase of 56.66%. Purchase volume of gefitinib and alternative drugs increased 100.61% and 14.88%, respectively. After the implementation of NVBP policy, procurement volume of alternative drugs decreased by 72 051 DDD (p value=0.044) and trend change decreased by 56 738 DDD (p value<0.01). The overall expenditure reduction was 14.7%, with the expenditure of gefitinib reducing by 38.47% and alternative drugs increasing by 10.70%. ITS analysis indicated statistically significant differences in level and trend changes for expenditure of total drugs and gefitinib. CONCLUSIONS: The evidence provided in this study indicated that the implementation of NVBP policy was related to the expenditure reduction of the first generation of anti-EGFR lung cancer drugs. The policy effectively controlled the increase in expenditures for corresponding drugs while ensuring the use of drugs.

RESUMO

Importance: Primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) relies on risk stratification. Genome-wide polygenic risk scores (PRSs) are proposed to improve ASCVD risk estimation. Objective: To determine whether genome-wide PRSs for coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute ischemic stroke improve ASCVD risk estimation with traditional clinical risk factors in an ancestrally diverse midlife population. Design, Setting, and Participants: This was a prognostic analysis of incident events in a retrospectively defined longitudinal cohort conducted from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2018. Included in the study were adults free of ASCVD and statin naive at baseline from the Million Veteran Program (MVP), a mega biobank with genetic, survey, and electronic health record data from a large US health care system. Data were analyzed from March 15, 2021, to January 5, 2023. Exposures: PRSs for CAD and ischemic stroke derived from cohorts of largely European descent and risk factors, including age, sex, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, smoking, and diabetes status. Main Outcomes and Measures: Incident nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), ischemic stroke, ASCVD death, and composite ASCVD events. Results: A total of 79 151 participants (mean [SD] age, 57.8 [13.7] years; 68 503 male [86.5%]) were included in the study. The cohort included participants from the following harmonized genetic ancestry and race and ethnicity categories: 18 505 non-Hispanic Black (23.4%), 6785 Hispanic (8.6%), and 53 861 non-Hispanic White (68.0%) with a median (5th-95th percentile) follow-up of 4.3 (0.7-6.9) years. From 2011 to 2018, 3186 MIs (4.0%), 1933 ischemic strokes (2.4%), 867 ASCVD deaths (1.1%), and 5485 composite ASCVD events (6.9%) were observed. CAD PRS was associated with incident MI in non-Hispanic Black (hazard ratio [HR], 1.10; 95% CI, 1.02-1.19), Hispanic (HR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.09-1.46), and non-Hispanic White (HR, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.18-1.29) participants. Stroke PRS was associated with incident stroke in non-Hispanic White participants (HR, 1.15; 95% CI, 1.08-1.21). A combined CAD plus stroke PRS was associated with ASCVD deaths among non-Hispanic Black (HR, 1.19; 95% CI, 1.03-1.17) and non-Hispanic (HR, 1.11; 95% CI, 1.03-1.21) participants. The combined PRS was also associated with composite ASCVD across all ancestry groups but greater among non-Hispanic White (HR, 1.20; 95% CI, 1.16-1.24) than non-Hispanic Black (HR, 1.11; 95% CI, 1.05-1.17) and Hispanic (HR, 1.12; 95% CI, 1.00-1.25) participants. Net reclassification improvement from adding PRS to a traditional risk model was modest for the intermediate risk group for composite CVD among men (5-year risk >3.75%, 0.38%; 95% CI, 0.07%-0.68%), among women, (6.79%; 95% CI, 3.01%-10.58%), for age older than 55 years (0.25%; 95% CI, 0.03%-0.47%), and for ages 40 to 55 years (1.61%; 95% CI, -0.07% to 3.30%). Conclusions and Relevance: Study results suggest that PRSs derived predominantly in European samples were statistically significantly associated with ASCVD in the multiancestry midlife and older-age MVP cohort. Overall, modest improvement in discrimination metrics were observed with addition of PRSs to traditional risk factors with greater magnitude in women and younger age groups.

RESUMO

Objective: To curb the unreasonable growth of pharmaceutical expenditures, Beijing implemented the zero markup drug policy (ZMDP) in public hospitals in 2017, which focused on separating drug sales from hospital revenue. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impacts of ZMDP on healthcare expenditures and utilization for inpatients. Methods: The Beijing claims data of inpatients diagnosed with ischemic heart disease (IHD), chronic renal failure (CRF), and lung cancer (LC) was extracted from the China Health Insurance Research Association (CHIRA) database. The study employed an interrupted time series to evaluate the impacts of ZMDP on healthcare expenditures and utilization. Results: The changes in total hospitalization expenses, health insurance expenses, and out-of-pocket expenses were not statistically significant neither in level change nor in trend change for inpatients diagnosed with IHD, CRF, or LC after implementing ZMDP (all P > 0.05). The Western medicine expenses for the treatment of inpatients diagnosed with IHD significantly decreased by 1,923.38 CNY after the reform (P < 0.05). The Chinese medicine expenses of inpatients diagnosed with CRF instantaneously increased by 1,344.89 CNY (P < 0.05). The service expenses of inpatients diagnosed with IHD and LC instantaneously increased by 756.52 CNY (p > 0.05) and 2,629.19 CNY (p < 0.05), respectively. However, there were no significant changes (P > 0.05) in out-of-pocket expenses, medical consumables, imaging, and laboratory test expenses of inpatients diagnosed with IHD, CRF, or LC. The initiation of the intervention immediately increased the number of inpatient admissions with LC by 2.293 per month (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The ZMDP was effective in reducing drug costs, and the effects on healthcare utilization varied across diseases type. However, the increase in medical service and Chinese medicine expenses diminished the effect of containing healthcare expenses and relieving the financial burdens of patients. Policymakers are advised to take multiple and long-lasting measures, such as provider payment methods reform, volume-based drug procurement, and drug price negotiation to improve the affordability of patients thoroughly.

RESUMO

As the fourth pillar of sustainable development, culture is widely recognized as contributing to human wellbeing. The distinctive culture of cities is an important driving force for attracting visitors to destinations for tourism consumption. Since historical cities have important cultural and historical values, the design of their tourist maps needs not only geographic positioning and artistic aesthetics, but also a systematic design method to present the connotation of regional cultures, so as to enhance the local cultural identity of hosts and the cultural cognition of visitors, and to drive the local tourism economy, improve the regional environment, promote cultural transmission and inheritance with the help of tourist map design in terms of cultural sustainability, which ultimately achieves sustainable development of human wellbeing. Taking Foshan, a national historical city, as an example, combined with the cultural gene and the cultural hierarchy theory, this study analyzes and summarizes the regional culture of Foshan from three aspects: material cultural gene, intangible cultural gene and spiritual cultural gene. This study also comprehensively presents the geographical information and historical or humanistic characteristics of the city through direct translation, narrative translation, and metaphor translation, which provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the integration of regional cultures into tourist map design.

RESUMO

Ultrahigh Ni-rich quaternary layered oxides LiNi1-x-y-zCoxMnyAlzO2 (1 - x - y - z ≥ 0.9) are regarded as some of the most promising cathode candidates for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of their high energy density and low cost. However, poor rate capacity and cycling performance severely limit their further commercial applications. Herein, an in situ coating strategy is developed to construct a uniform LiAlO2 layer. The NH4HCO3 solution is added to a NaAlO2 solution to form a weak alkaline condition, which can reduce the hydrolysis rate of NaAlO2, thus enabling uniform deposition of Al(OH)3 on the surface of a Ni0.9Co0.07Mn0.01Al0.02(OH)2 (NCMA) precursor. The LiAlO2-coated samples show enhanced cycling stability and rate capacity. The capacity retention of NCMA increases from 70.7% to 88.3% after 100 cycles at 1 C with an optimized LiAlO2 coating amount of 3 wt %. Moreover, the 3 wt % LiAlO2-coated sample also delivers a better rate capacity of 162 mAh g-1 at 5 C, while that of an uncoated sample is only 144 mAh g-1. Such a large improvement of the electrochemical performance should be attributed to the fact that a uniform LiAlO2 coating relieves harmful interfacial parasitic reactions and stabilizes the interface structure. Therefore, this in situ coating approach is a viable idea for the design of higher-energy-density cathode materials.

RESUMO

Routine assessment of sperm DNA integrity involves the time-consuming and complex process of staining sperm chromatin. Here, we report a Raman spectroscopy method combined with extended multiplicative signal correction (EMSC) for the extraction of characteristic fingerprints of DNA-intact and DNA-damaged sperm cells directly on glass slides. Raman results of sperm cell DNA integrity on glass substrates were validated one-to-one with clinical sperm cell staining. Although the overall Raman spectral pattern showed considerable similarity between DNA-damaged and DNA-intact sperm cells, differences in specific Raman spectral responses were observed. We then employed and compared multivariate statistical analysis based on principal component analysis-linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA) and partial least-squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), and the classifications were validated by leave-one-out-cross-validation (LOOCV) and k-fold cross-validation methods. In comparison, the PLS-DA model showed relatively better results in terms of diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and the classification rate between the sperm DNA damaged group and the DNA intact group. Our results demonstrate the potential of Raman based label-free DNA assessment of sperm cell on glass substrates as a simple method toward clinical applications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The appropriate screening inclusion criteria of low-dose computed tomography screening for lung cancer in Chinese population remains unclear and the effect of combining screening with nurse-led smoking cessation intervention is poorly understood as well. OBJECTIVE: We compared the benefits and costs of lung cancer screening with and without nurse-led smoking cessation intervention in different inclusion criteria to help select optimal screening strategies. METHODS: Different screening strategies were set based on diverse starting ages, smoking pack-year and whether nurse-led smoking cessation intervention was applied. We use nationally representative data published by the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey, based on a microsimulation model, to predict incremental cost-effectiveness ratio and net health benefits under different strategies. RESULTS: The incremental cost-effectiveness ratios for all lung cancer screening strategies were less than three times GDP per capita, and screening combined with smoking cessation intervention had lower incremental cost-effectiveness ratios. The largest net health benefits and probability of cost-effectiveness were both obtained in the strategy which conducted screening and nurse-led smoking cessation intervention for people over 45 years with at least 20 pack-year smoking history. In strategies screening alone, it was obtained in screening for people over 50 years and with at 20 pack-year smoking history. CONCLUSIONS: Nurse-led smoking cessation intervention is recommended provided in conjunction with lung cancer screening. The optimal strategy is conducted screening with cessation intervention for current smokers or smoking quitters in the past 15 years who are over 45 years with at least 20 pack-year smoking history. For strategies screening alone, the target population should be over 50 years old with at least 20 pack year smoking history, when willingness to pay less than three times GPD per capita.

RESUMO

The demand for improving health status of Chinese residents is growing with the rapid economic development. Happiness, which could be improved by some brief, self-administered, and cost-effective interventions, is reported to be associated with mortality, longevity, and self-rated health. Therefore, it is essential to assess the effect of happiness on health in China. Using data from the Chinese General Social Survey 2017, the present study explored the effect of happiness on health among Chinese residents after controlling for demographic variables, socioeconomic factors, social relationships, locations, and insurance plan. The happiness effect across subsamples by age and resident type and the mediator role of happiness were also evaluated. Based on an ordered probit regression model, we found that the effect of happiness on health was significantly positive in full sample and all subsamples. Using a structural equation model, we demonstrated that happiness could partially mediate the relationship between socioeconomic factors, social relationships factors, and health. Our data supplement the existing literature on the relationship between happiness and health and provide evidence for policymakers and stakeholders focusing on happiness as a health strategy to improve overall societal wellbeing.

RESUMO

Influenza viruses and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) have contributed to severe respiratory infections, causing huge economic and healthcare burdens. To achieve rapid and precise detection of influenza viruses and RSV, we proposed a catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) combined with the lateral flow immunoassay (CHA-LFIA) detection method. The presence of the target RNA triggers the initiation of CHA circuits. H1/H2 complexes, the amplified signal products, which were labeled with digoxin and biotin, were detected with a highly sensitive lateral flow immunoassay system. The sensitivity of the CHA-LFIA system to influenza A and B viruses and RSV reached up to 1, 1, and 5 pM, respectively. In addition, this method exhibited excellent capability for differentiating between target RNA and base-mismatched RNA. The results demonstrated that an enzyme-free, rapid, highly sensitive, and specific method had been developed to detect influenza A and B viruses and RSV.

RESUMO

Injury prediction is one of the most challenging issues in sports and is a key component of injury prevention, since successful injury prediction forms the basis for effective preventive measures. In this study, an analysis was made on the risk of physical injuries to college students to guarantee the physical safety of students in sports and improve the quality of physical education. Then, a study was carried out on the occurrences of physical injury risks through visual sensing techniques, and an investigation was conducted into the characteristics of physical injury risks in colleges. Next, the student's body shape and physical characteristics are computed using visual sensing techniques, and the risk of sports injuries is evaluated. The results show that the proposed image recognition and computation methods can accurately identify the sports injuries of college students. Furthermore, it can effectively analyze the factors affecting the risk of sports injuries, and the error of the proposed technique remains between -3 and 2. In addition, it can accurately locate the occurrence of sports injury risks and reduce the impact of those risks in time. This work provides technical support for the reduction of sports injury risks and contributes to the improvement of physical education teaching quality in colleges.

RESUMO

As the new year of 2020 approaches, an acute respiratory disease quietly caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), also known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was reported in Wuhan, China. Subsequently, COVID-19 broke out on a global scale and formed a global public health emergency. To date, the destruction that has lasted for more than two years has not stopped and has caused the virus to continuously evolve new mutant strains. SARS-CoV-2 infection has been shown to cause multiple complications and lead to severe disability and death, which has dealt a heavy blow to global development, not only in the medical field but also in social security, economic development, global cooperation and communication. To date, studies on the epidemiology, pathogenic mechanism and pathological characteristics of SARS-CoV-2-induced COVID-19, as well as target confirmation, drug screening, and clinical intervention have achieved remarkable effects. With the continuous efforts of the WHO, governments of various countries, and scientific research and medical personnel, the public's awareness of COVID-19 is gradually deepening, a variety of prevention methods and detection methods have been implemented, and multiple vaccines and drugs have been developed and urgently marketed. However, these do not appear to have completely stopped the pandemic and ravages of this virus. Meanwhile, research on SARS-CoV-2-induced COVID-19 has also seen some twists and controversies, such as potential drugs and the role of vaccines. In view of the fact that research on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 has been extensive and in depth, this review will systematically update the current understanding of the epidemiology, transmission mechanism, pathological features, potential targets, promising drugs and ongoing clinical trials, which will provide important references and new directions for SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 research.
