RESUMO

Propiconazole (PRO) has been widely used in the treatment of fungal infection in fruits, vegetables, cereals, and seeds. In this study, a newly established chiral liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was applied to the systemic stereoselectivity evaluation of PRO enantiomers, including toxicokinetics, tissue distributions, cytotoxicity, accumulation, and degradation. Our results showed that both trans (+)-2S,4S-PRO and cis (-)-2S,4R-PRO had lower Cmax and AUC0-∞ and higher CLz/F values in plasma and lower accumulation concentrations in the liver, heart, and brain. In cytotoxic assays, cis (-)-2S,4R-PRO exhibited the lowest cytotoxicity in PC12 neuronal, N9 microglia, SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma, and MRC5 lung fibroblast cell lines. Moreover, the Eisenia fetida incubation experiment revealed that the accumulations of both trans (+)-2S,4S-PRO and cis (-)-2S,4R-PRO were higher than those of their antipodes in E. fetida. In summary, our findings first suggested that the application of cis (-)-2S,4R-PRO for agriculture would hugely reduce the environmental risk.

RESUMO

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Diagnostic challenges remain in this highly time-sensitive condition. Using capillary electrophoresis-laser-induced fluorescence, we analyzed the blood plasma N-glycan profile in a cohort study comprising 103 patients with AMI and 69 controls. Subsequently, the data generated was subjected to classification modeling to identify potential AMI biomarkers. An area under the Receiving Operating Characteristic curve (AUCROC) of 0.81 was obtained when discriminating AMI vs. non-MI patients. We postulate that the glycan profile involves a switch from a pro- to an anti-inflammatory state in the AMI pathophysiology. This was supported by significantly decreased levels in galactosylation, alongside increased levels in sialylation, afucosylation and GlcNAc bisection levels in the blood plasma of AMI patients. By substantiating the glycomics analysis with immunoglobulin G (IgG) protein measurements, robustness of the glycan-based classifiers was demonstrated. Changes in AMI-related IgG activities were also confirmed to be associated with alterations at the glycosylation level. Additionally, a glycan-biomarker panel derived from glycan features and current clinical biomarkers performed remarkably (AUCROC = 0.90, sensitivity = 0.579 at 5% false positive rate) when discriminating between patients with ST-segment elevation MI (n = 84) and non-ST-segment elevation MI (n = 19). Moreover, by applying the model trained using glycomics information, AMI and controls can still be discriminated at 1 and 6 months after baseline. Thus, glycomics biomarkers could potentially serve as a valuable complementary test to current diagnostic biomarkers. Additional research on their utility and associated biomechanisms via a large-scale study is recommended.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the treatment of vesiculitis with hemospermia by transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy. Methods: We treated 64 cases of vesiculitis with hemospermia by transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy. During the operation,we removed the stones and inflammatory substances and collected seminal vesicle fluid to be cultured for bacteria, ureaplasma urealyticum(UU),chlamydia trachomatis(CT),and mycoplasma hominis(MH),followed by infusion of levofloxacin at 0. 3 g/100 ml into the seminal vesicle. Regular follow-up was conducted post-operatively. Results: All the operations were successfully accomplished, the operation time averaging(40 ± 15) min(25- 50 min). The ejaculatory duct opening was observed on the verumontanum surface in the posterior urethra in 2 cases, abnormal passages found in the prostatic utricle in 8 cases, and seminal vesicle fenestration from the prostatic utricle conducted in the other 54 cases(32 by seminal vesiculoscopy and 22 with holmium laser). Stones were seen in the prostatic utricle in 5 cases, in the seminal vesicle in 6 cases, and in both the prostatic utricle and seminal vesicle in 2 cases. Culture of the seminal vesicle fluid showed the acinetobacter to be positive in 1 case and UU, CT, and MH to be negative. At 3 months after surgery, hemospermia was cured in 52 cases, relieved in 8,and unimproved in 4. Conclusion: Seminal vesicle fenestration drainage by transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy for the treatment of vesiculitis with hemospermia has the advantages of short operation time, high effectiveness and no obvious complications and can also be employed for the examination of the seminal vesicle as well as removal of stones and inflammatory substances.

RESUMO

This study investigated the mental health status of medical students in China, and analyzed the influencing factors in order to provide evidence for mental health education for medical students. A stratified cluster sampling method was used to recruit medical students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. The questionnaire survey on general information and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were used for investigation and analysis. The results showed among the 1137 valid questionnaires, 278 (24.45%) participants had SCL-90 score ≥ 160. The top three mental problems of medical students were obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity and depression in terms of the factor score ≥ 2.5 and the number of participants who reflected on the diseases. The third-year medical students had the worst mental health status, and fifth-year medical students had the best mental health status. Students from rural area had more psychological problems than those from urban area; furthermore, students with high professional satisfaction, those who were the single child of the family, non-poor students, and those whose parents had high education level had better mental health status. It was concluded that the mental health of medical students is not optimistic in China. Medical students have some mental health problems of different degrees. Factors that influence the mental health of medical students include academic pressure, professional satisfaction level and family environment.
