RESUMO

To overcome the severe problems arising from the insufficient light absorption of ultrathin self-assembly active layers and the high cost use of atomic force deposition (ALD)-grown low-leakage-current transport layers, we successfully developed a low-cost, simple and facile strategy of floating-film transfer and multilayer lamination (FFTML) for constructing highly-efficient ALD-free broadband polarization-sensitive organic photodetectors (OPDs) with the two commonly used structures of donor/acceptor planar heterojunction (PHJ) and donor:acceptor multilayer bulk heterojunction (BHJ). It was found that the PHJ-based polarization-sensitive OPD by FFTML possesses a low dark current due to the high carrier injection barrier, indicating it is more suitable to be applied in low polarized light detection scenarios. In contrast, the BHJ-based device by FFTML has a higher spectral responsivity in the whole wavelength due to more photo-excitons transferred to the donor:acceptor interface and dissociated into photoexcited carrirers. Furthermore, the film thickness, which is tuned by increasing lamination number of BHJ layers, has a big effect on the polarization-sensitive photodetection performance. The polarization-sensitive 4-BHJ OPD by FFTML finally achieved a high specific detectivity of 8.33 × 1010Jones, which was much higher than 2.72 × 1010Jones for the 2-BHJ device at 0 V. This work demonstrates that layer-by-layer lamination of self-assembly films can effectively improve the polarized-light detection performance, contributing significantly to the rapid development of the field.

The article presents results of using remote sensing images and machine learning to map and assess land potential based on time-series of potential Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FAPAR) composites. Land potential here refers to the potential vegetation productivity in the hypothetical absence of short-term anthropogenic influence, such as intensive agriculture and urbanization. Knowledge on this ecological land potential could support the assessment of levels of land degradation as well as restoration potentials. Monthly aggregated FAPAR time-series of three percentiles (0.05, 0.50 and 0.95 probability) at 250 m spatial resolution were derived from the 8-day GLASS FAPAR V6 product for 2000-2021 and used to determine long-term trends in FAPAR, as well as to model potential FAPAR in the absence of human pressure. CCa 3 million training points sampled from 12,500 locations across the globe were overlaid with 68 bio-physical variables representing climate, terrain, landform, and vegetation cover, as well as several variables representing human pressure including: population count, cropland intensity, nightlights and a human footprint index. The training points were used in an ensemble machine learning model that stacks three base learners (extremely randomized trees, gradient descended trees and artificial neural network) using a linear regressor as meta-learner. The potential FAPAR was then projected by removing the impact of urbanization and intensive agriculture in the covariate layers. The results of strict cross-validation show that the global distribution of FAPAR can be explained with an R2 of 0.89, with the most important covariates being growing season length, forest cover indicator and annual precipitation. From this model, a global map of potential monthly FAPAR for the recent year (2021) was produced, and used to predict gaps in actual vs. potential FAPAR. The produced global maps of actual vs. potential FAPAR and long-term trends were each spatially matched with stable and transitional land cover classes. The assessment showed large negative FAPAR gaps (actual lower than potential) for classes: urban, needle-leave deciduous trees, and flooded shrub or herbaceous cover, while strong negative FAPAR trends were found for classes: urban, sparse vegetation and rainfed cropland. On the other hand, classes: irrigated or post-flooded cropland, tree cover mixed leaf type, and broad-leave deciduous showed largely positive trends. The framework allows land managers to assess potential land degradation from two aspects: as an actual declining trend in observed FAPAR and as a difference between actual and potential vegetation FAPAR.

Proteus mirabilis can transfer transposons, insertion sequences, and gene cassettes to the chromosomes of other hosts through SXT/R391 integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs), significantly increasing the possibility of antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) evolution and expanding the risk of ARGs transmission among bacteria. A total of 103 strains of P. mirabilis were isolated from 25 farms in China from 2018 to 2020. The positive detection rate of SXT/R391 ICEs was 25.2% (26/103). All SXT/R391 ICEs positive P. mirabilis exhibited a high level of overall drug resistance. Conjugation experiments showed that all 26 SXT/R391 ICEs could efficiently transfer to Escherichia coli EC600 with a frequency of 2.0 × 10-7 to 6.0 × 10-5. The acquired ARGs, genetic structures, homology relationships, and conservation sequences of 26 (19 different subtypes) SXT/R391 ICEs were investigated by high-throughput sequencing, whole-genome typing, and phylogenetic tree construction. ICEPmiChnHBRJC2 carries erm (42), which have never been found within an SXT/R391 ICE in P. mirabilis, and ICEPmiChnSC1111 carries 19 ARGs, including clinically important cfr, blaCTX-M-65, and aac(6')-Ib-cr, making it the ICE with the most ARGs reported to date. Through genetic stability, growth curve, and competition experiments, it was found that the transconjugant of ICEPmiChnSCNNC12 did not have a significant fitness cost on the recipient bacterium EC600 and may have a higher risk of transmission and dissemination. Although the transconjugant of ICEPmiChnSCSZC20 had a relatively obvious fitness cost on EC600, long-term resistance selection pressure may improve bacterial fitness through compensatory adaptation, providing scientific evidence for risk assessment of horizontal transfer and dissemination of SXT/R391 ICEs in P. mirabilis.IMPORTANCEThe spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) is a major public health concern. The study investigated the prevalence and genetic diversity of integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs) in Proteus mirabilis, which can transfer ARGs to other hosts. The study found that all of the P. mirabilis strains carrying ICEs exhibited a high level of drug resistance and a higher risk of transmission and dissemination of ARGs. The analysis of novel multidrug-resistant ICEs highlighted the potential for the evolution and spread of novel resistance mechanisms. These findings emphasize the importance of monitoring the spread of ICEs carrying ARGs and the urgent need for effective strategies to combat antibiotic resistance. Understanding the genetic diversity and potential for transmission of ARGs among bacteria is crucial for developing targeted interventions to mitigate the threat of antibiotic resistance.

PURPOSE: This study evaluates serial radiographic changes in the maxillary sinus of patients with oral cancer after an inferior maxillectomy and a soft tissue free flap reconstruction. METHODS: Fifty-six patients were evaluated between Oct 2005 and Mar 2017 from an institutional database. Preoperative and surveillance imaging was reviewed at set time-points. Maxillary sinus scores were allotted based on a modification of the Lund-MacKay staging system. Patients were evaluated for change in sinus score. A univariate (UV) and multivariate (MV) analysis was performed. RESULTS: There were 53.5% T3/T4 category tumors and 68% received adjuvant treatment. Median follow-up was 24.4 months. Preoperative mean sinus score was 0.27 ± 0.44 and postoperative mean sinus score at 24 months was 1.2 ± 1.3 (p = <0.001). On UV analysis advanced T-stage at 12 months (OR 6.7, 95% CI 1.2-50.3, p = 0.01) and 24 months (OR 5.2, 95% CI 1.03-36.8, p = 0.04) was associated with significantly higher sinus score. On MV analysis, advanced T-stage continued to be associated with increased odds for higher sinus score (OR 4.9, 95% CI 1.1-26.8, p = 0.039). CONCLUSION: A mild increase in postoperative sinus score is seen in this cohort of patients. Advanced T-stage is associated with increased odds for higher sinus scores.

Mercury (Hg) has received increasing public attention owing to its high toxicity and global distribution capability via long-range atmospheric transportation. Guanzhong Basin (GB) is vital for the industrial and economic development of Shaanxi Province. To determine the concentration, spatial distribution, seasonal variation, sources, and health risks of particulate-bound mercury (PBM), PM2.5 samples were collected at three sampling sites representing urban, rural, and remote areas during winter and summer in GB. The three sampling sites were in Xi'an (XN), Taibai (TB), and the Qinling Mountains (QL). The mean PBM concentrations in XN, TB, and QL in winter were 130 ± 115 pg m-3, 57.5 ± 47.3 pg m-3, and 53.6 ± 38.5 pg m-3, respectively, higher than in summer (13.7 ± 7.11 pg m-3, 8.01 ± 2.86 pg m-3, and 7.75 ± 2.85 pg m-3, respectively). PBM concentrations are affected by precipitation, meteorological conditions (temperature and mixed boundary layer), emission sources, and atmospheric transport. During the sampling period, the PBM dry deposition in XN, TB, and QL was 1.90 µg m-2 (2 months), 0.835 µg m-2 (2 months), and 0.787 µg m-2 (2 months), respectively, lower than the range reported in national megacities. According to backward trajectory and potential source contribution factor (PSCF) analysis, mercury pollution in XN is mainly affected by local pollution source emissions, whereas the polluted air mass in TB and QL originates from local anthropogenic emissions and long-distance atmospheric transmission. The non-carcinogenic health risk values of PBM in XN, TB, and QL in winter and summer were less than 1, indicating that the risk of atmospheric PBM to the health of the residents was negligible.

Lipstick is one of the most commonly used cosmetics, which is closely associated with female attractiveness and influences people's perception and behavior. This study aimed to investigate the impact of light sources, lipstick colors, as well as gender on the subjective assessment of lipstick color products from the prospective of color preference, purchase intention and sexual attractiveness. The correlation between color preference evaluations when applying lipstick on lips and on forearms was also explored. Sixty participants completed their visual assessment of 15 lipsticks worn by 3 models under 5 light sources, with uniformly sampled correlated color temperature (CCT) values ranging from 2,500 K to 6,500 K. The results indicated that the light source significantly influenced color preference and purchase intention, while lipstick color significantly impacted on sexual attractiveness. The interactions between gender and other factors were also observed and are discussed. Compared to men, women were found to be more sensitive to different light sources and hold different attitudes toward different lipstick colors under different CCTs. Interestingly, no significant correlation was found between lipstick color preference ratings on the lips and forearm, which conflicted with the commonly recognized way of lipstick color selection. These findings should contribute to a deeper understanding of the consumer attitude toward lipstick colors and provide a useful reference for lighting design in situations where cosmetics are specified, manufactured, retailed and generally used, both professionally and in the home.

Background: The vein of Marshall (VOM) ethanol infusion improves rhythm control in atrial fibrillation (AF). The identification and cannulation of the VOM can be technically challenging. This study aimed to assess the angiographic morphology of the VOM and investigate its value in the VOM ethanol infusion. Methods: Patients with AF (n = 162) scheduled for combined catheter ablation and VOM ethanol infusion were enrolled. The VOM morphologic features in the right anterior oblique (RAO), the left anterior oblique (LAO), and the LAO cranial views were analyzed. The impact of morphology on the identification and cannulation of the VOM was investigated. Results: The VOM was identified in 159 (98.1 %) and cannulated in 150 (92.6 %) patients. The VOM identification rate in the RAO and LAO/LAO cranial view was 97.3 % and 89.3 %, respectively. Of 134 patients with VOM identification in the LAO/LAO cranial view, 104 (77.6 %) had a VOM ostium clock location (VOMoClock) of ≤3 and 3-4 o'clock. The VOM cannulation success rate in the ≤3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6 o'clock groups was 100 %, 92.6 %, 88.5 %, and 77.8 %, respectively (p = 0.032). The median (interquartile range) cannulation time in the four groups was 10.5 (6.3), 12.0 (9.0), 13.0 (23.0), and 34.0 (30.0) minutes, respectively (p < 0.001). The diameter of the coronary sinus ostium in the RAO view and the VOMoClock were independent predictors for difficult cannulation. Conclusions: The VOM morphologic features in different angiographic views provide valuable information which could facilitate the identification and cannulation of the VOM.

The scarcity of natural fossil fuels presents a promising opportunity for the development of renewable microalgae-based biofuels. However, the current microalgae cultivation is unable to effectively address the high costs of the production of biofuels. To tackle this challenge, this study focused on recruiting engineered Phaeodactylum tricornutum (FabG-OE) to enhance biomass accumulation and lipid production by employing food waste hydrolysate under temperature variations. The biomass and lipid accumulations of FabG-OE were improved effectively in mixed culture medium and food waste hydrolysate at a volume ratio (v/v) of 80:20 at 30 °C. It was found that oxidative stress might contribute to the overexpression of lipogenic genes, thereby leading to lipogenesis at 30 °C. Upscaling cultivation of FabG-OE at 30 °C using a semi-continuous strategy and batch strategy was conducted to achieve 0.73 and 0.77 g/L/d of biomass containing 0.35 and 0.38 g/L/d of lipid, respectively. In summary, these findings provide valuable insights for advancing microalgae-based biofuel production.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Flammulina velutipes (FV), also known as the golden needle mushroom, is an edible and medicinal fungus that contains bioactive substances regulating various physiological functions. While the fruiting bodies of FV are commonly consumed, their stipes are often discarded despite containing polysaccharides. In this study, the biological functions of FV stipes (FV-S) were investigated to reduce waste and pollution while increasing their value. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The antioxidant activity of FV was evaluated using three methods: the DPPH radical-scavenging capacity assay, ferrous ion chelating assay, and reducing power analysis. The anti-cancer potential was assessed through MTT viability and immunoblotting analyses. RESULTS: Results showed that FV-S had higher polysaccharide and total phenolic contents and greater antioxidant abilities, particularly in ethanolic extracts. FV-S also exhibited significant anticancer properties, specifically in hot water extracts with high polysaccharide contents, and suppressed prostate cancer cell viability by inhibiting androgen receptor and PCa-specific antigen mRNA expression while inducing caspase-3/7 activation. CONCLUSION: FV-S is rich in bioactive components, possesses higher antioxidant and anticancer abilities, and has potential as an anticancer agent, which could enhance the value of FV.

Background: Medication therapy management (MTM) services is a method that can effectively improve patients' conditions, but the efficacy of economic and humanistic outcomes remain unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to use economic, clinical and humanistic outcomes to evaluate the multi-benefits of MTM services. Method: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted by retrieving PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library and ClinicalTrial.gov from the inception to April 2022. There were two reviewers screening the records, extracting the data, and assessing the quality of studies independently. Results: A total of 81 studies with 60,753 participants were included. MTM services were more effective in clinical outcomes with decreasing the rate of readmission (OR: 0.78; 95% CI: 0.73 to 0.83; I2 = 56%), emergency department visit (OR: 0.88; 95% CI: 0.81 to 0.96; I2 = 32%), adverse drug events (All-cause: OR: 0.68; 95% CI: 0.56 to 0.84; I2 = 61%; SAE: OR: 0.51; 95% CI: 0.33 to 0.79; I2 = 35%) and drug-related problems (MD: -1.37; 95% CI: -2.24 to -0.5; I2 = 95%), reducing the length of stay in hospital (MD: -0.74; 95% CI: -1.37 to -0.13; I2 = 70%), while the economic and humanistic outcomes were less effective. Conclusion: Our systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated that MTM services had great ability to improve patients' clinical conditions while the efficacy of economic and humanistic outcomes, with some of the outcomes showing high degree of heterogeneity and possible publication bias, required more future studies to provide stronger evidence. In recent decades, China's rapid economic growth has substantially improved average living standards; however, this has not been accompanied by greater happiness among the Chinese population. This phenomenon is known as the Easterlin Paradox (i.e., there is no link between a society's economic development and its average level of happiness) in Western countries. This study examined the effects of subjective social class on subjective well-being and mental health in China. Consequently, we found that individuals in a relatively low social class had lower levels of subjective well-being and mental health; self-class discrepancy partially explains the relationship between subjective social class and subjective well-being and fully explains the relationship between subjective social class and mental health; and subjective social mobility moderates the path from self-class discrepancy to subjective well-being and mental health. These findings suggest that enhancing social mobility is an important method for reducing class differences in subjective well-being and mental health. These results have important implications, indicating that enhancing social mobility is an important method for reducing class differences in subjective well-being and mental health in China.

COVID-19 has caused a critical health concern and severe economic crisis worldwide. With multiple variants, the epidemic has triggered waves of mass transmission for nearly 3 years. In order to coordinate epidemic control and economic development, it is important to support decision-making on precautions or prevention measures based on the risk analysis for different countries. This study proposes a national risk analysis model (NRAM) combining Bayesian network (BN) with other methods. The model is built and applied through three steps. (1) The key factors affecting the epidemic spreading are identified to form the nodes of BN. Then, each node can be assigned state values after data collection and analysis. (2) The model (NRAM) will be built through the determination of the structure and parameters of the network based on some integrated methods. (3) The model will be applied to scenario deduction and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making in the context of COVID-19. Through the comparison with other models, NRAM shows better performance in the assessment of spreading risk at different countries. Moreover, the model reveals that the higher education level and stricter government measures can achieve better epidemic prevention and control effects. This study provides a new insight into the prevention and control of COVID-19 at the national level.

OBJECTIVE: In 2017, China launched a new round of medical reform (NMR) to address the inaccessibility of high-priced drugs for patients with serious diseases. This study explored the impact of the NMR on the accessibility and affordability of high-priced monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and the effective promotion policies after the NMR. METHODS: We used a standard method developed by the World Health Organization to conduct two surveys on the availability of mAbs and their prices before and after the NMR in the public hospitals in Hubei province, China. By interviewing hospital pharmacy experts, we identified the potential value of the current NMR in improving the access to therapeutic mAbs. RESULTS: The average availability of 13 mAbs increased by 8.1% in the surveyed hospitals of Hubei province after the NMR. The median unit price of 10 mAbs dropped by 34.3%. The average affordability of a treatment cycle of 10 mAbs dropped from 680 days to 298 days of the disposable daily income for a middle-income resident (56.2% reduction). The drug price negotiation of medical insurance inclusion and the promotion of consistent evaluation of generic and original drugs could effectively promote the accessibility of mAbs. However, the zero markup of drug pricing and the limit on the proportion of drug revenues in public hospitals showed certain negative effects on the availability of mAbs. CONCLUSION: Not all current NMR policies play a positive role in promoting the accessibility of mAbs. To further improve the accessibility of mAbs in the future in China, it is therefore critical to increase the investment in independent research and development of high-quality mAbs, establish localized guidelines for the rational use of mAbs in clinical practice, and have a cost-sharing mechanism for high-priced drugs with multiple stakeholders.

Background: Various therapeutic strategies are available for the first-line treatment of patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (aHCC). But which approach is the most cost-effective remains uncertain. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of first-line strategies in aHCC patients from the perspective of Chinese and US payers. Design: A network meta-analysis (NMA) and cost-effectiveness study. Data sources and methods: A NMA was conducted to collect all first-line strategies with aHCC from 1 October 1 2018 until 1 January 2022. The relevant randomized controlled trial literature in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for the last 3 years were searched. The abstracts of meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society of Medical Oncology, and American Association for Cancer Research were also reviewed. A Markov model that included three states was developed. One-way sensitivity and probabilistic sensitivity analysis were performed to investigate the uncertainty of the economic evaluation. Scenario analysis was conducted to explore the economic benefits of treatment strategies in low-income populations. Results: Base-case analysis in China included 1712 patients showed that atezolizumab combined with bevacizumab, sintilimab combined with bevacizumab, lenvatinib (LEVA), and sorafenib (SORA) added 0.46, 1.25, 0.77, and -1.08 quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs), respectively, compared with donafenib, resulting in an incremental cost-effective ratio of $85607.88, $12109.27, and $1651.47 per QALY at a willingness-to-pay (WTP) of $11101.70/QALY. In the United States, only the incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) of SORA was higher that were lower than the WTP threshold ($69375/QALY), and LEVA was the most cost-effective strategy with the ICERs were 25022.13/QALY. Conclusion: The NMA and cost-effectiveness analysis revealed that LEVA is the favorite choice in the first-line treatment of Chinese aHCC patients and US payers' perspective when the WTP was $11101.70/QALY in China and $69375.0/QALY in the United States. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, vaccination against the virus has been implemented and has progressed among various groups across all ethnicities, genders, and almost all ages in the United States. This study examines the impacts of socioeconomic status and political preference on COVID-19 vaccination in over 443 counties in the southwestern United States. Regression analysis was used to examine the association between a county's vaccination rate and one's personal income, employment status, education, race and ethnicity, age, occupation, residential area, and political preference. The results were as follows: First, counties with higher average personal income tend to have a higher vaccination rate (p < 0.001). Second, county-level vaccination is significantly associated with the percentage of Democrat votes (ß = 0.242, p < 0.001). Third, race and ethnicity are vaccine-influencing factors. Counties with more Black residents have lower vaccine acceptance (ß = −0.419, p < 0.001), while those where more Hispanics or Native Americans reside are more likely to accept vaccines for health protection (ß = 0.202, p < 0.001; ß = 0.057, p = 0.008, respectively). Lastly, pertaining to the age difference, seniors aged 65 and older show substantial support for vaccination, followed by the median age group (all p < 0.001).

Psychophysical experiment is the most straightforward and reliable way to investigate the impact of lighting on visual colour perception. In this study, a series of experiments were conducted in order to investigate the impact of experimental setting and protocol on the obtained conclusions in visual tests regarding human preference on object colour in applied lighting research. Four light sources of 5,500 K, with Duv values of -0.01, 0, 0.015, and 0.02, were used to illuminate different kinds of objects including blue jeans, fruit and vegetables, bread, artware, fresh pork, and skin tones. The use of those experimental light sources and objects was to provide control study for our former research by deliberately changing certain experimental setup and protocol and testify the robustness of our former conclusions. The results show that some of our former findings, like the dominant impact of lighting on colour preference, the visual cognition process of light booth experiments as well as the correlation between the whiteness of lighting and colour preference, were found to be valid in typical light booth experiment. The impact of experimental object turned out to be much stronger under the newly designed protocol and the significance of sex difference on colour preference judgment was found to vary with experimental setup. These new findings highlight the influence of experimental setting and protocol on the validity of research findings, which we believe, could provide deeper understanding for the psychophysical results of current colour preference studies.

BACKGROUND: Medication therapy management (MTM) service is an effective method to reduce medication-related problems and improve patients' multiple kinds of outcomes. However, the lack of comprehensive review for MTM services has hindered its development. As a result, we are aiming to evaluate the current benefits of MTM services with multiple outcomes. METHOD: An electronic search will be performed for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or non-randomized control trials (NRCTs) that reported MTM services or pharmaceutical services as interventions from PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Embase, and ClinicalTrial. gov. The odds ratios, mean differences, and standard mean differences and their 95% confidence intervals (95% confidence intervals) will be calculated with fixed or random effect models. RESULTS: This study will evaluate the multiple benefits of MTM services in clinical endpoints, quality of life, economy, and drug-related problems. CONCLUSION: The results will review eligible studies released in the past twenty years and provide more comprehensive evidence of the efficacy of MTM services. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval is not applicable for this study.

BACKGROUND: The Unified Huntington's Disease Rating Scale (UHDRS) is a universal scale assessing disease severity of Huntington's disease (HD). However, the English version cannot be widely used in China, and the reliability and validity of the Chinese UHDRS have not yet been confirmed. OBJECTIVE: To test the reliability and validity of Chinse UHDRS in patients with HD. METHODS: Between August 2013 and August 2021, 159 HD patients, 40 premanifest HD, and 64 healthy controls were consecutively recruited from two medical centers in China and assessed by Chinese UHDRS. Internal consistency and interrater reliability of the scale were examined. Intercorrelation was performed to analyze the convergent and divergent validity of the scale. A receiver operating characteristic analysis was conducted to explore the optimal cutoff point of each cognitive test. RESULTS: High internal consistency was found in Chinese UHDRS, and its Cronbach's alpha values of the motor, cognitive, behavioral and functional subscales were 0.954, 0.826, 0.804, and 0.954, respectively. The interrater reliability of the total motor score was 0.960. The convergent and divergent validity revealed that motor, cognitive and functional subscales strongly related to each other except for Problem Behavior Assessment. Furthermore, we not only provided the normal level of each cognitive test in controls, but also gave the optimal cutoff points of cognitive tests between controls and HD patients. CONCLUSION: We demonstrate for the first time that the translated version of UHDRS is reliable for assessing HD patients in China. This can promote the universal use of UHDRS in clinical practice.

Gamithromycin is a long-acting azalide antibiotic that has been developed recently for the treatment of swine respiratory diseases. In this study, the pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) targets, PK/PD cutoff, and optimum dosing regimen of gamithromycin were evaluated in piglets against Streptococcus suis in China, including a subset with capsular serotype 2. Short post-antibiotic effects (PAEs) (0.5-2.6 h) and PA-SMEs (2.4-7.7 h) were observed for gamithromycin against S. suis. The serum matrix dramatically facilitated the intracellular uptake of gamithromycin by S. suis strains, thus contributing to the potentiation effect of serum on their susceptibilities, with a Mueller-Hinton broth (MHB)/serum minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) ratio of 28.86 for S. suis. Dose-response relationship demonstrated the area under the concentration (AUC)/MIC ratio to be the predictive PK/PD index closely linked to activity (R 2 > 0.93). For S. suis infections, the net stasis, 1-log10, and 2-log10 kill effects were achieved at serum AUC24h/MIC targets of 17.9, 49.1, and 166 h, respectively. At the current clinical dose of 6.0 mg/kg, gamithromycin PK/PD cutoff value was determined to be 8 mg/L. A PK/PD-based dose assessment demonstrated that the optimum dose regimen of gamithromycin to achieve effective treatments for the observed wild-type MIC distribution of S. suis in China with a probability of target attainment (PTA) ≥ 90% was 2.53 mg/kg in this study. These results will aid in the development of clinical dose-optimization studies and the establishment of clinical breakpoints for gamithromycin in the treatment of swine respiratory infections due to S. suis.

Under the background of the global "carbon neutrality" goal, it is of great significance to study the environmental effect of FDI in rapid economic development. This paper proposes an original framework to determine the relative influence of five factors on the Belt and Road countries with a strong FDI-CO2 association. Based on the panel smooth transition regression (PSTR) model, we establish country-specific and time-specific FDI-CO2 coefficients for 59 Belt and Road countries during 2003-2018. These coefficients are assumed to change smoothly as a function of five threshold variables, considered the most important in the literature devoted to the FDI-CO2 correlations. The results show that the degree of GDP per capita, industrialization, openness, and total factor productivity significantly influences the FDI-CO2 relationship. However, they showed obvious heterogeneity. The coefficient of elasticity of the environmental effects of FDI smoothly transitions between the different intervals, the relationship between GDP per capita and FDI-CO2 coefficient shows a bell-shaped change, the relationship between degree of trade openness and FDI-CO2 coefficient also shows a bell-shaped change, the relationship between industrialization level and FDI-CO2 coefficient shows an inverted N-shaped change, the change of a country's technological level shows a bell-shaped relationship with the FDI-CO2 coefficient. The results indicate that PSTR model can be used to study the threshold effect on FDI's influence on carbon dioxide emissions and the individual and time differences in coefficients of elasticity, to provide a new research perspective and new conclusions on the environmental effect of FDI in rapid economic development.
