RESUMO

We present an efficient, effective, and economical approach, named E3technology, for proteomics sample preparation. By immobilizing silica microparticles into the polytetrafluoroethylene matrix, we develop a robust membrane medium, which could serve as a reliable platform to generate proteomics-friendly samples in a rapid and low-cost fashion. We benchmark its performance using different formats and demonstrate them with a variety of sample types of varied complexity, quantity, and volume. Our data suggest that E3technology provides proteome-wide identification and quantitation performance equivalent or superior to many existing methods. We further propose an enhanced single-vessel approach, named E4technology, which performs on-filter in-cell digestion with minimal sample loss and high sensitivity, enabling low-input and low-cell proteomics. Lastly, we utilized the above technologies to investigate RNA-binding proteins and profile the intact bacterial cell proteome.

RESUMO

Galaxolide (HHCB) and tonalide (AHTN) are dominant musks added to personal care products. However, the accumulate and trophic transfer of SMs through the marine food chain are unclear. In this study, organisms were collected from three bays in Bohai Sea to investigate the bioaccumulation, trophic transfer, and health risk of SMs. The HHCB and AHTN concentrations in the muscles range from 2.75 to 365.40 µg/g lw and 1.04-4.94 µg/g lw, respectively. The median HHCB concentrations in muscles were the highest in Bohai Bay, followed by Laizhou Bay and Liaodong Bay, consistent with the HHCB concentrations in sediments. The different fish tissues from Bohai Bay were analyzed, and the HHCB and AHTN concentrations followed the heart > liver > gill > muscles. The trophic magnification factors (TMF) were lower than 1 and the health risk assessment showed no adverse health effects. The results provide insights into the bioaccumulation and trophic transfer behavior of SMs in marine environments.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In the past 40 years, China has experienced tremendous economic development, but the current situation of hematologists has rarely been reported. A landscape survey of human resources is essential for healthcare development and policy formulation in the future. METHODS: The Chinese Society of Hematology initiated a survey of Chinese hematologists in mainland China for evaluating demographic and practice characteristics. Respondents were anonymous, and there were no limitations regarding their age, sex, etc. RESULTS: Totally 2032 hematologists responded, with a median age bracket of 36-45 years. Respondents were well engaged into subspecialties, and 28.1% acquired doctorates of philosophy. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) centers have been established all over China. Higher-GDP regions reported more advantages, including bigger scale of transplant centers (P < 0.001), younger age structure (P = 0.039), better education qualifications (P = 0.001) and less turnover intentions (P = 0.004), despite of increased risk of medical disputes (P = 0.028). Although females accounted for 65.5% of hematologists, males were older (P < 0.001), and had more senior professional titles (P < 0.001), academic positions (P < 0.001), opportunities for continuing education (P < 0.001), and paper publishing in the recent two years (P = 0.001). For turnover intention, the higher GDP regions led to an independently reduced risk (HR = 0.673, 95%CI [0.482-0.940], P = 0.020), whereas medical disputes resulted in an increased the risk (HR = 2.037, 95%CI [1.513-2.743], P < 0.001). Considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, majority of respondents believed that the decline in patient visits and delay in treatment was within 30%. 67.9% of respondents reported a decrease of the use of bone marrow as grafts but 18.8% reported an increase of cord blood units. 35.0% of the respondents switched their daily work to support the anti-epidemic medical activities. CONCLUSIONS: We concluded the discipline of hematology in China has flourished in recent years with a young workforce, while regional economic and gender disparities warrant further continuous optimization. Joint efforts against the impact of COVID-19 are needed in the post-pandemic era.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to evaluate whether virtual calcium subtraction (VNCa) image extracted from dual-layer spectral CT could estimate bone marrow (BM) infiltration with MRI as the reference standard and characterize tumor burden in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Forty-seven patients with newly diagnosed MM were retrospectively enrolled. They had undergone whole-body low-dose dual-layer spectral CT (DLCT) and whole-body MRI within one week. VNCa images with calcium-suppressed (CaSupp) indices ranging from 25 to 95 at an interval of 10 and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps were quantitatively analyzed on vertebral bodies L1-L5 at the central slice of images. The optimal combination was selected by correlation analysis between CT numbers and ADC values. Then, it was used to characterize tumor burden by correlation analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves analysis, including plasma cell infiltration rate (PCIR), high serum-free light chains (SFLC) ratio and the high-risk cytogenetic (HRC) status. RESULTS: The most significant quantitative correlation between CT numbers of VNCa images and ADC values could be found at CaSupp index 85 for averaged L1-L5 (r = 0.612, p < 0.001). It allowed quantitative evaluation of PCIR (r = 0.835, p < 0.001). It could also anticipate high SFLC ratio and the HRC status with area under the curve (AUC) of 0.876 and 0.760, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The VNCa measurements of averaged L1-L5 showed the highest correlation with ADC at CaSupp index 85. It could therefore be used as additional imaging biomarker for non-invasive assessment of tumor burden if ADC is not feasible.

RESUMO

Proteomics experiments have typically high economic and technical barriers to broad biomedical scientists, which not only result in costly supplies and accessories for sample preparation but also the reluctance to adapt new techniques. In the present study, we present an effective and efficient, yet economical technology, which we call E3technology, for proteomics sample preparation. By immobilizing silica microparticles into a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) matrix, we developed a novel medium, which could be used as a robust and reliable proteomics platform to generate LCMS-friendly samples in a rapid and low-cost fashion. Using different formats of E3technology, including E3tip, E3filter, E3cartridge, and E3plate, we explored a variety of sample types in varied complexity, quantity, volume, and size, including bacterial, fungi, mammalian cells, mouse tissue, and human body fluids. We benchmark their performance against several established approaches. Our data suggest that E3technology outperforms many of the currently available techniques in terms of proteome identification and quantitation. It is widely applicable, highly reproducible, readily scalable and automatable, and is user-friendly and stress-free to non-expert proteomics laboratories. It does not require specialized expertise and equipment, and significantly lowers the technical and economical barrier to proteomics experiments. An enhanced version, E4technology, also opens new avenues to sample preparation for low input and/or low-cell proteomics analysis. The presented technologies by our study represent a breakthrough innovation in biomedical science, and we anticipate widespread adoption by the proteomics community.

RESUMO

Introduction: Although geriatric assessment (GA) has been used for a long time in the field of geriatrics and internal medicine, there are few studies on its application in the field of breast surgery. Therefore, the utility of specific GA domains for the assessment of older patients with breast cancer remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association between specific GA domains and the survival rate of older patients with breast cancer. Methods: We used the database of Peking Union Medical College Hospital to identify older patients who were newly diagnosed with breast cancer between 2012 and 2018 and retrospectively analysed the data of 541 patients aged ≥65 years. Patients with metastatic cancer and those with missing vital status data were excluded. The primary outcomes were overall survival (OS) and breast cancer-specific survival. The GA domains used in this study included functional status, comorbidities, and psychological state. Multivariate regression analysis was used to estimate hazard ratios for these three domains. Results: After a median follow-up of 72 months, we observed a significant relationship between functional impairment and mortality (adjusted HR: 3.06, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.83-5.10, P<0.001). Similarly, patients with severe comorbidities (adjusted HR: 2.35; 95% CI: 1.16-4.75, P=0.017) and an impaired psychological state (adjusted HR: 2.82, 95% CI: 1.45-5.50, P=0.002) showed worse OS rates. Accordingly, addition of the three GA domains to the basic model, which included age, tumour stage, lymph node stage, and intrinsic molecular subtype as baseline variables, yielded higher C-statistics for mortality analysis (from 0.713 to 0.740). Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first study to include specific GA domains in a prognostic model for older patients with breast cancer in China. Three domains, namely functional status, comorbidities, and psychological state, should be considered for survival analyses in this particular population. The full model including these three GA domains may be more accurate in predicting the survival of older patients with breast cancer.

RESUMO

Antibiotics are emerging pollutants largely considered to have a lower risk based on persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic (PBT) risk assessments. However, an increasing number of studies have illustrated that antibiotics are responsible for the global increase in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which suggests that the risk of antibiotics has been largely underestimated by using PBT risk assessment. Here, we designed an integrated innovation risk assessment framework of persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic, and resistance (PBTR) that accounts for antibiotic resistance to better represent the antibiotic environmental risk. This novel antibiotic risk assessment framework was further verified via application to 39 target antibiotics in the 23 drinking water sources of the lower Yangtze River (LYR), China, during the normal and flood seasons. In contrast with the PBT assessment, single toxicity assessment and single resistance assessment, in the PBTR assessment, 7 of 39 target antibiotics with bacterial insensitivity were observed to represent a more prominent risk, as were the sites sampled during the flood season with low concentrations but high pollution loads, which confirmed that the sensitivity of PBTR risk assessment was instructive. The PBTR risk assessment for the screened priority antibiotics contributes not only representative data but also an innovative approach for identifying resistance risks. Using the positive matrix factorization (PMF) model, the sources of priority antibiotics can be predicted and thus supported the corresponding policy. Overall, this study first constructed a PBTR risk assessment framework, then applied it to facilitate the accurate management of antibiotic pollution at the basin level.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Since Augmented Reality (AR) and 3D visualization have proven to be of great significance to the safety and effectiveness of surgical outcomes, will autostereoscopic 3D AR without glasses bring new opportunities for surgical navigation of laparoscopic surgery? METHODS: We used the CPD-based deformation registration algorithm and the proposed virtual view generation algorithm, realizing a deformable autostereoscopic 3D AR navigation framework for laparoscopic surgery. The depth perception and user experience of the 3D AR navigation were evaluated compared with the 2D AR display using an in-vitro porcine heart and offline clinical partial nephrectomy laparoscopic images. RESULTS: The autostereoscopic 3D AR allowed participants to have a more consistent spatial perception as well as a shorter measuring time than 2D AR with significant difference of p < 0.05. It can also improve relative depth perception for smaller distance separation of objects < = 3.28 mm. However, the autostereoscopic 3D AR perceived a worse experience compared to 2D AR in the user experience. CONCLUSION: Autostereoscopic 3D AR shows a more efficient and robust sense of spatial scale than 2D AR with better potential to shorten the operating time and improve surgical outcomes than 2D AR, but image blur and distortion are issues that must be solved to improve the perception effect. High precise registration and high fluency visualization requirements could make autostereoscopic 3D AR navigation for soft tissue more challenging. SIGNIFICANCE: Our work lays a theoretical foundation for the further development of laparoscopic surgical navigation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients with refractory or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have poor survival, necessitating the exploration of optimized therapeutic strategy. Here, we aimed to investigate clinical outcomes and health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) after total therapy, which included allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), and prophylactic donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) in the early phase after transplantation, followed by multiple measurable residual disease (MRD) and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD)-guided DLIs. METHODS: Consecutive patients who had refractory or relapsed AML and had received non-T-cell-depleted allo-HSCT at Peking University Institute of Hematology were included in the study. If the patients achieved complete remission at 30 days after transplantation and had no evidence of relapse, severe infection, organ failure, and active GvHD at the time of planned DLI, prophylactic DLI was administered at 30 days after transplantation for human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched related HSCT or at 45-60 days after transplantation for haploidentical or unrelated HSCT. Subsequently, multiple DLIs were administered based on MRD results and whether they developed GvHD after transplantation. RESULTS: A total of 105 patients were eligible. Eighty-seven patients received prophylactic DLI (group B), while 18 did not receive prophylactic DLI (group A). Among 105 patients, the cumulative incidence of grade 2-4 acute GvHD and chronic GvHD was 40.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 30.6%-50.6%) and 73.3% (95% CI = 67.4%-79.2%), respectively. The cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR), transplant-related mortality (TRM), and leukemia-free survival (LFS) at 5 years after transplantation were 31.5% (95% CI = 21.9%-41.1%), 22.1% (95% CI = 11.3%-32.9%), and 46.4% (95% CI = 36.8%-56.0%), respectively. In group B, the CIR, TRM, and LFS at 5 years after transplantation were 27.6% (95% CI = 17.6%-37.6%), 21.6% (95% CI = 11.2%-32.0%), and 50.8% (95% CI = 40.0%-61.6%), respectively. At the end of follow-up, 48 patients survived, and more than 90% of survivors had satisfactory recoveries of HR-QoL. CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicated that total therapy is not only associated with decreased CIR, comparable TRM, and better long-term LFS, but also with satisfactory HR-QoL for refractory or relapsed AML, compared with those of standard of care therapy reported previously. Therefore, total therapy may be an optimized therapeutic strategy for refractory or relapsed AML.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring through Wilms tumor 1 (WT1) gene expression and multicolor flow cytometry (FCM) in patients with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). METHODS: For this purpose, WT1 gene expression and the CMML-related abnormal immunophenotype were examined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and FCM, respectively. RESULTS: In total, 59 patients with CMML who underwent allo-HSCT were enrolled in this study. Thirteen cases (22.0%) developed hematological relapse, and 15 patients (25.4%) expired during the follow-up period. Thirty-four patients (37.6%) were positive for WT1 (WT1+), and 44 patients (74.6%) were positive for FCM prior to allo-HSCT. After allo-HSCT, there were 21 WT1+ patients (35.6%) and 10 patients (16.9%) who were positive in FCM (FCM+). Post-transplant WT1+ (post-WT1 0.6+; 50.7% vs. 7.6%, p < .001) and post-transplant FCM+ (post-FCM+; 90.0% vs. 8.8%, p < .001) indicated a higher 3-year cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) compared with the WT1- or FCM-patients. Multivariate analysis of event-free survival (EFS), overall survival (OS), and CIR showed that the FCM status after transplantation was an independent prognostic factor for relapse (p < .05). CONCLUSION: Both FCM and WT1 after HSCT were identified as important predictors of recurrence of CMML following transplantation and may be useful in guiding interventions against disease relapse.

RESUMO

A better understanding of the biological and environmental variables that contribute to exceptional longevity has the potential to inform the treatment of geriatric diseases and help achieve healthy aging. Here, we compared the gut microbiome and blood metabolome of extremely long-lived individuals (94-105 years old) to that of their children (50-79 years old) in 116 Han Chinese families. We found extensive metagenomic and metabolomic remodeling in advanced age and observed a generational divergence in the correlations with socioeconomic factors. An analysis of quantitative trait loci revealed that genetic associations with metagenomic and metabolomic features were largely generation-specific, but we also found 131 plasma metabolic quantitative trait loci associations that were cross-generational with the genetic variants concentrated in six loci. These included associations between FADS1/2 and arachidonate, PTPA and succinylcarnitine and FLVCR1 and choline. Our characterization of the extensive metagenomic and metabolomic remodeling that occurs in people reaching extreme ages may offer new targets for aging-related interventions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To provide the quantitative volumetric data of the total lung and lobes in inspiration and expiration from healthy adults, and to explore the value of paired inspiratory-expiratory chest CT scan in pulmonary ventilatory function and further explore the influence of each lobe on ventilation. METHODS: A total of 65 adults (29 males and 36 females) with normal clinical pulmonary function test (PFT) and paired inspiratory-expiratory chest CT scan were retrospectively enrolled. The inspiratory and expiratory volumetric indexes of the total lung (TL) and 5 lobes (left upper lobe [LUL], left lower lobe [LLL], right upper lobe [RUL], right middle lobe [RML], and right lower lobe [RLL]) were obtained by Philips IntelliSpace Portal image postprocessing workstation, including inspiratory lung volume (LVin), expiratory lung volume (LVex), volume change (∆LV), and well-aerated lung volume (WAL, lung tissue with CT threshold between -950 and -750 HU in inspiratory scan). Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between CT quantitative indexes of the total lung and ventilatory function indexes (including total lung capacity [TLC], residual volume [RV], and force vital capacity [FVC]). Multiple stepwise regression analysis was used to explore the influence of each lobe on ventilation. RESULTS: At end-inspiratory phase, the LVin-TL was 4664.6 (4282.7, 5916.2) mL, the WALTL was 4173 (3639.6, 5250.9) mL; both showed excellent correlation with TLC (LVin-TL: r = 0.890, p < 0.001; WALTL: r = 0.879, p < 0.001). From multiple linear regression analysis with lobar CT indexes as variables, the LVin and WAL of these two lobes, LLL and RUL, showed a significant relationship with TLC. At end-expiratory phase, the LVex-TL was 2325.2 (1969.7, 2722.5) mL with good correlation with RV (r = 0.811, p < 0.001), of which the LVex of RUL and RML had a significant relationship with RV. For the volumetric change within breathing, the ∆LVTL was 2485.6 (2169.8, 3078.1) mL with good correlation with FVC (r = 0.719, p < 0.001), moreover, WALTL showed a better correlation with FVC (r = 0.817, p < 0.001) than that of ∆LVTL. Likewise, there was also a strong association between ∆LV, WAL of these two lobes (LLL and RUL), and FVC. CONCLUSIONS: The quantitative indexes derived from paired inspiratory-expiratory chest CT could reflect the clinical pulmonary ventilatory function, LLL, and RUL give greater impact on ventilation. Thus, the pulmonary functional evaluation needs to be more precise and not limited to the total lung level.

RESUMO

A multi-medium system, involving tailing area (tailings, surrounding soils and water) and downstream agricultural area (river water, sediments and farmland soils), was conceived to evaluate the pollution status of potential toxic elements (PTEs, including Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Sn, Pb, Cr and Cd) and environmental risks in a tin-polymetallic mine area southwest China. The results indicated that tailings exhibited representative enrichment and combination characteristics of Sn, Cu, Ni, Fe, As, Pb and Cr compared to surrounding soils. Acid mine drainage (AMD) from tailings and other mining-related sources greatly affected river water and farmland soils, resulting in soil acidification and accumulation of Sn, As, Cu and Pb in paddy soils. Overall, potential ecological risks posed by tailings and river sediments, and pollution risks from Cu, As and Pb in farmland should be concerned. Therefore, effective measures should be urgently taken to prevent PTEs and AMD into surrounding environmental media.

RESUMO

Chromatographic fingerprinting has been perceived as an essential tool for assessing quality and chemical equivalence of traditional Chinese medicine. However, this pattern-oriented approach still has some weak points in terms of chemical coverage and robustness. In this work, we proposed a multiple reaction monitoring (MRM)-based fingerprinting method in which approximately 100 constituents were simultaneously detected for quality assessment. The derivative MRM approach was employed to rapidly design MRM transitions independent of chemical standards, based on which the large-scale fingerprinting method was efficiently established. This approach was exemplified on QiShenYiQi Pill (QSYQ), a traditional Chinese medicine-derived drug product, and its robustness was systematically evaluated by four indices: clustering analysis by principal component analysis, similarity analysis by the congruence coefficient, the number of separated peaks, and the peak area proportion of separated peaks. Compared with conventional ultraviolet-based fingerprints, the MRM fingerprints provided not only better discriminatory capacity for the tested normal/abnormal QSYQ samples, but also higher robustness under different chromatographic conditions (i.e., flow rate, apparent pH, column temperature, and column). The result also showed for such large-scale fingerprints including a large number of peaks, the angle cosine measure after min-max normalization was more suitable for setting a decision criterion than the unnormalized algorithm. This proof-of-concept application gives evidence that combining MRM technique with proper similarity analysis metrices can provide a highly sensitive, robust and comprehensive analytical approach for quality assessment of traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMO

Although SQUAMOSA promoter-binding-like (SPL) transcription factors are important regulators of development in rice (Oryza sativa), prior assessments of the SPL family have been limited to single genes. A functional comparison across the full gene family in standardized genetic backgrounds has not been reported previously. Here, we demonstrate that the SPL gene family in rice is enriched due to the most recent whole genome duplication (WGD). Notably, 10 of 19 rice SPL genes (52%) cluster in four units that have persisted for at least 50 million years. We show that SPL gene grouping and retention following WGD is widespread in angiosperms, suggesting the conservatism and importance of this gene arrangement. We used Cas9 editing to generate transformation lines for all 19 SPL genes in a common set of backgrounds, and found that knockouts of 14 SPL genes exhibited defects in plant height, 10 exhibited defects in panicle size, and nine had altered grain lengths. We observed subfunctionalization of genes in the paleoduplicated pairs, but little evidence of neofunctionalization. Expression of OsSPL3 was negatively correlated with that of its closest neighbor in its synteny group, OsSPL4, and its sister paired gene, OsSPL12, in the opposing group. Nucleotide diversity was lower in eight of the nine singleton genes in domesticated rice, relative to wild rice, whereas the reverse was true for the paired genes. Together, these results provide functional information on eight previously unexamined OsSPL family members and suggest that paleoduplicate pair redundancy benefits plant survival and innovation.

RESUMO

Appropriate producing areas can guarantee the quality of Tibetan medicine, but research on the suitable ecological factors and suitable producing areas of Tibetan medicinal plants is scarce. This paper used the Geographic Information System for Global Medicinal Plants(GMPGIS) to analyze the ecological suitability of Tibetan medicinal plants nationwide. For the first time, the range of ecological factors and main soil types of Tibetan medicinal plants were extracted, such as the average annual temperature-19.4-24.2 ℃, annual average precipitation 17-4 088 mm, annual average sunshine 124.2-171.6 W·m~(-2). The main soil types were black calcareous soil, thin layer soil, chestnut soil and so on. Based on 337 sampling points, the largest ecological similarity area of Tibetan medicine across the country was obtained through ecological similarity analysis. In addition to Tibet and Qinghai provinces and Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures in Sichuan, Gansu, and Yunnan provinces, Jiuquan city and Linxia county in Gansu province, Panzhihua and Ya'an in Sichuan province, and Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Shanxi provinces also had larger suitable cultivation areas. In addition, by analyzing the current situation of Tibetan medicine industry, the research pointed out that there were some problems such as unreasonable development and utilization of resources, lack of standards and norms, weak basic research and imperfect industrial system, and made corresponding countermeasures for sustainable development of resources, formulation of standards and specifications, promotion of medicine through science and technology, expansion of domestic and foreign markets, etc. This study provided the basis for guiding the rational layout of production bases, introduction and breeding of plant Tibetan medicine nationwide, laying the foundation for the scientific and standardized production of high-quality Tibetan medicine, clarifying the development direction of Tibetan medicine industry, and providing ideas for the development strategy of Tibetan medicine and other national medicine industry.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The surface-based registration approach to laparoscopic augmented reality (AR) has clear advantages. Nonrigid point-set registration paves the way for surface-based registration. Among current non-rigid point set registration methods, the coherent point drift (CPD) algorithm is rarely used because of two challenges: (1) volumetric deformation is difficult to predict, and (2) registration from intraoperative visible tissue surface to whole anatomical preoperative model is a "part-to-whole" registration that CPD cannot be applied directly to. We preliminarily applied CPD on surgical navigation for laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN). However, it introduces normalization errors and lacks navigation robustness. This paper presents important advances for more effectively applying CPD to LPN surgical navigation while attempting to quantitatively evaluate the accuracy of CPD-based surgical navigation. METHODS: First, an optimized volumetric deformation (Op-VD) algorithm is proposed to achieve accurate prediction of volume deformation. Then, a projection-based partial selection method is presented to conveniently and robustly apply the CPD to LPN surgical navigation. Finally, kidneys with different deformations in vitro, phantom and in vivo experiments are performed to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of our approach. RESULTS: The average root-mean-square error of volume deformation was refined to 0.84 mm. The mean target registration error (TRE) of the surface and inside markers in the in vitro experiments decreased to 1.51 mm and 1.29 mm, respectively. The robustness and precision of CPD-based navigation were validated in phantom and in vivo experiments, and the mean navigation TRE of the phantom experiments was found to be [Formula: see text] mm. CONCLUSION: Accurate volumetric deformation and robust navigation results can be achieved in AR navigation of LPN by using surface-based registration with CPD. Evaluation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed methods while showing the clinical application potential of CPD. This work has important guiding significance for the application of the CPD in laparoscopic AR.
