OBJECTIVE: To explore the needs, motivations, and limitations related to healthy eating and digital materials, as well as to identify patterns for their design as a strategy aimed at Mexican families. DESIGN: A qualitative observational study of the phenomenon through focus group sessions. LOCATION: A public primary education center in the city of Querétaro, Mexico. PARTICIPANTS: Children aged 9 to 11 years and parents, mothers, or caregivers with children in primary education. METHOD: Twelve sessions were conducted with three groups of students and two sessions with parents, mothers, or caregivers using an interview guide. Various digital materials, developed based on social cognitive theory, were presented during the sessions. The sessions were recorded with the participants' or their guardians' prior consent and transcribed for analysis. Coding was performed for key points of analysis, and information saturation was confirmed. RESULTS: Students expressed motivation towards digital material that promotes play and experimentation, especially within the family context. The main perceived barrier was the caregivers' resistance to change. Parents expressed motivation and a need for explanatory material on diseases, with economic and time-related barriers. CONCLUSIONS: Digital material based on social cognitive theory, designed to improve nutrition, can be an effective strategy in nutritional education if it considers the circumstances of the target population. It is advisable to include affective and behavioral elements to achieve meaningful learning within households.

Introducción. Durante la infancia, los niños pueden experimentar algún grado de dificultad al comer. Existe una herramienta, desarrollada en Estados Unidos, de evaluación de la alimentación pediátrica (PediEAT), que permite identificar síntomas problemáticos. Objetivo. Realizar una adaptación transcultural para una versión argentina, con adecuación cultural y equivalencia semántica respecto a su versión original. Población y métodos. Se utilizó una versión autoadministrada del PediEAT que fue respondida por familias y/o cuidadores de niños de 6 meses a 7 años. Se realizó una primera fase de evaluación de validez del contenido con un grupo de expertos. Luego, una fase de pretest con familias mediante entrevistas cognitivas para comprobar la comprensión de las palabras y frases. Se realizaron las modificaciones necesarias para que quedara adaptada al contexto. Resultados. En la fase de evaluación de validez del contenido con el grupo de 8 expertos, de los 80 ítems se modificaron 36. En el pretest, se realizaron entrevistas cognitivas a 18 cuidadores; se realizaron cambios en 11 ítems para mejorar la comprensión por parte de la población argentina. La versión argentina fue aprobada por los autores originales. Conclusiones. El instrumento PediEAT versión argentina resulta lingüísticamente equivalente a su versión original, lo que permite su uso para la detección de problemáticas alimentarias en niños.


Introduction. During childhood, children may experience some degree of difficulty eating. A tool (PediEAT) has been developed in the United States and is available to assess pediatric eating and to identify problematic symptoms. Objective. To obtain an Argentine version that is transculturally adapted, culturally adequate, and semantically equivalent to the original version. Population and methods. A self-administered version of the PediEAT was used and completed by families and/or caregivers of children aged 6 months to 7 years. In the first phase, content validity was assessed by a group of experts. This was followed by a pre-test phase with families using cognitive interviews to test word and phrase comprehension. The necessary changes were made to obtain a version adapted to the context. Results. The tool's content validity was assessed by a group of 8 experts; as a result, 36 of the 80 items were changed. During the pre-test phase, cognitive interviews were conducted with 18 caregivers; 11 items were changed to improve comprehension by the Argentine population. The Argentine version was approved by the original authors. Conclusions. The Argentine version of the PediEAT tool is linguistically equivalent to the original version, and this allows its use to screen for feeding problems in children.

Introduction: Objective: to evaluate leptin levels and its relation to nutritional status in Crohn's disease (CD). Methods: the study included 154 CD patients and healthy controls. Leptin level was determined before treatment. Nutrition levels were assessed using the Nutrition Risk Screening 2002 (NRS-2002) and Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA). Indicators included body mass index (BMI), mid-arm circumference, the circumference of the upper-arm muscle, triceps skinfold thickness, and circumference of legs. Results: leptin levels differed between CD patients (1,025 ± 874 ng/ml) and controls (18,481,222 ng/ml). Significant differences were seen in NRS-2002, PG-SGA scores, BMI and other nutritional indicators. Negative correlations were observed between leptin and NRS-2002, PG-SGA scores, while positive correlations were observed with other nutritional indicators. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed association between leptin and the diagnosis of CD, suggesting leptin concentration below 803.02 ng/ml as a threshold for CD. Conclusion: dysfunctional leptin regulation may relate to poor nutritional status associated with CD. The leptin level is thus an additional tool for evaluating CD patients, predicting disease activity and clinical response. Leptin may be a potential target for intervention in CD to improve nutritional status.


Introducción: Objetivo: evaluar los niveles de leptina y su relación con el estado nutricional en la enfermedad de Crohn (EC). Métodos: se incluyeron 154 pacientes con EC y controles sanos. El nivel de leptina se determinó antes del tratamiento. La situación nutricional se evaluó mediante el examen de riesgo nutricional 2002 (NRS-2002) y la Valoración Global Subjetiva Generada por el Paciente (VGS-GP). Los indicadores incluyen el índice de masa corporal (IMC), la circunferencia media del brazo, la circunferencia del músculo superior del brazo, el grosor del pliegue cutáneo del tríceps y la circunferencia de las piernas. Resultados: los niveles de leptina difirieron entre los pacientes con EC (1.025 ± 874 ng/ml) y los controles (18.481.222 ng/ml). Se observaron diferencias significativas en NRS-2002, puntajes de VGS-GP, IMC y otros indicadores nutricionales. Se observaron correlaciones negativas entre leptina y NRS-2002, puntuaciones de VGS-GP, mientras que se observaron correlaciones positivas con otros indicadores nutricionales. La curva ROC mostró asociación entre leptina y el diagnóstico de EC, sugiriendo concentraciones de leptina por debajo de 803,02 ng/ml como umbral para EC. Conclusión: puede relacionarse la alteración en la regulación de la leptina con la peor situación nutricional en enfermos con EC.La leptina puede ser un objetivo potencial para la intervención en EC a fin de mejorar el estado nutricional.

La Canasta Alimentaria Normativa (CAN) es un instrumento estratégico de planificación y seguimiento, que impacta el ámbito económico (fijación del salario mínimo SM y del umbral de la pobreza relativa), la seguridad alimentaria y la salud pública. El objetivo fue describir la evolución histórica de la CAN en Venezuela, contrastando su valoración económica respecto al SM durante el período 1990 ­ 2023. Tipo de estudio: Descriptivo. Se empleó la CAN del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas/Instituto Nacional de Nutrición (INE/INN) y su comparación con la canasta del Centro de Documentación y Análisis Social de la Federación Venezolana de Maestros(CENDAS ­ FVM). Los valores mensuales de la CAN y del SM se recalcularon a dólares USA, de acuerdo a la tasa de cambio oficial. No se incluyó evaluación de la estructura interna, ni sus expresiones en términos de aporte de energía y nutrientes. Resultados: Desde 1990 hasta el año 2015, se requirieron entre1,0 y 1,8 SM y entre 0,6 y 1,7 Ingresos Mínimos Legales (IML)para acceder a la CAN. Para el año 2023 se requirieron hasta 78,3SM y 51,6 IML. El valor promedio de la canasta del CENDAS-FVM fue superior al valor de la CAN INE/INN, en una proporción de 1,7: 1. Conclusiones: la CAN resultó sensible en identificar los cambios y tendencias de su estimación económica, en el ambiente inflacionario venezolano. El uso de sus resultados está sujeta a cierto grado de discrecionalidad política. El costo de la CAN, expresa una contracción del poder de compra de los hogares venezolanos con potenciales impactos sobre la nutrición y la salud física y mental a corto y largo plazo.


The Normative Food Basket (NFB) represents astrategic planning and monitoring instrument, which impactsthe economic sphere (setting of the minimum wage (MW) andthe relative poverty threshold), food security and public health.The objective was to describe the historical evolution of the NFB in Venezuela, contrasting its economic valuation with respect to the MW during the period 1990 ­ 2023. Type of study: Descriptive. The NFB of the National Institute of Statistics/National Institute of Nutrition (NIS/NIN) was used and itscomparison with the basket of the Center for Documentationand Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (CENDAS ­ FVM). The monthly values of the NFB and theMW were recalculated into dollars (US$), according to theofficial exchange rate. No evaluation of the internal structurewas included, nor its expressions in terms of energy and nutrientcontribution. Results: From 1990 to 2015, between 1.0 and1.8 MW and between 0.6 and 1.7 Minimum Legal Income(MLI) were required to access the NFB. By 2023, up to 78.3MW and 51.6 MLI were required. The average value of the CENDAS-FVM basket was higher than the value of the NFBNIS/NIN, in a proportion of 1.7: 1. Conclusions: As a statistical operation, the NFB was sensitive in identifying changes andtrends in its estimate economic, in the Venezuelan inflationaryenvironment. The use of its results is subject to a certain degree ofpolitical discretion. The cost of CAN expresses a contraction inthe purchasing power of Venezuelan households with potentialimpacts on nutrition and physical/mental health in the shortand long term.

La lactancia materna y una alimentación complementaria adecuada en los primeros dos años del niño son fundamentales para lograr un mejor crecimiento y desarrollo, estando dichas prácticas moldeadas por las representaciones sociales de cada familia. El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer las representaciones sociales sobre lactancia materna, la alimentación complementaria y sobre el sistema de salud en relación a las prácticas de alimentación de familias que realizaron el control de salud de sus niños en un hospital público de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Metodología: Se utilizó un diseño cualitativo, a través de dos grupos focales con familiares responsables de la alimentación de niños que realizaban sus controles en los consultorios pediátricos del Observatorio de salud del IDIP durante los meses noviembre 2022 a marzo 2023. A partir del análisis se llegó a la construcción de distintas subcategorías de representaciones sociales: valores, creencias, aprendizajes, normas y mitos. El proyecto fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética Institucional. Resultados: Se encontró una valoración de la lactancia materna como práctica que refuerza el vínculo con el lactante y como el mejor alimento para el niño. Los factores socioeconómicos y el tiempo se identificaron como limitantes para lograr una alimentación complementaria saludable. El sistema de salud se presentó como un constante generador de información sobre las formas de inicio y mantenimiento de estas prácticas de alimentación. Conclusiones: Es fundamental conocer las representaciones sociales que moldean las prácticas de lactancia materna y alimentación complementaria de cada comunidad para diseñar acciones desde el sistema de salud enfocadas en la prevención de la malnutrición infantil, y en consecuencia, las enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles, promoviendo una nutrición sana y un óptimo desarrollo físico y mental


Breastfeeding and adequate complementary feeding in the first two years of the child are essential to achieve better growth and development, these practices being shaped by the social representations of each family. We sought to know the social representations about breastfeeding and complementary feeding in families that carried out the health control of their children in a public hospital in the Province of Buenos Aires. Methodology: A qualitative design was used, through two focus groups with relatives responsible for feeding children who carried out their controls in the pediatric clinics of the IDIP Health Observatory during the months of November 2022 to March 2023. From the analysis, the construction of different subcategories of social representations was reached: values, beliefs, learning, norms and myths. The project was approved by the institutional ethics committee. Results: An assessment of breastfeeding was found as a practice that reinforces the bond with the infant and as the best food for the child. Socioeconomic factors and time were identified as limiting to achieve a healthy complementary diet. The health system was presented as a constant generator of information on the ways to start and maintain these feeding practices. Conclusions: It is essential to know the social representations that shape the practices of breastfeeding and complementary feeding in each community, to design actions from the health system focused on the prevention of child malnutrition, and consequently, chronic non-communicable diseases, promoting a healthy nutrition and optimal physical and mental development

Objetivos: Describir la prevalencia del riesgo de deficiencia o exceso en la ingesta de nutrientes y el patrón de consumo de alimentos de acuerdo con las recomendaciones establecidas por el Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social y el Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio transversal descriptivo en mujeres sanas que fueron atendidas en dos hospitales del oriente antioqueño, con seguridad alimentaria y nutricional (SAN) según la Escala Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Seguridad Alimentaria (ELCSA), en el primer trimestre de lactancia, evaluadas entre los años 2021 y 2022. La fuente de información fue la historia clínica. Se midieron las características sociodemográficas, clínicas, antropométricas y la ingesta dietética y de micronutrientes. Se empleó estadística descriptiva. Se presenta la prevalencia de déficit o exceso de ingesta calórica y el índice de relación de consumo (IRC). Se utilizaron los software EVINDI v5, PC-SIDE v1.0, Stata 16.1 y Jasp 0.16.4. Resultados: Se incluyeron 30 mujeres lactantes. La prevalencia de riesgo de deficiencia en la ingesta usual de energía fue 43 % y exceso 16 %; el riesgo de deficiencia proteica fue 98 %. El consumo superior al valor de referencia para grasa saturada fue 86 % y carbohidratos simples 72 %. El patrón de consumo se caracterizó por superar las recomendaciones para azúcares (IRC = 1,29), leche y derivados (IRC = 1,09), cereales, raíces, plátanos y tubérculos (IRC = 1,04). No cumplieron las recomendaciones en la ingesta de grasas (IRC = 0,70), carnes, huevos, leguminosas, frutos secos y semillas (IRC = 0,49), frutas y verduras (IRC = 0,41). Conclusiones: El patrón alimentario identificado dista de las guías nacionales, lo que limita el consumo de macro y micronutrientes, y contribuye al círculo intergeneracional de la malnutrición. Es fundamental realizar nuevas investigaciones en el país para identificar otros patrones de consumo e impulsar acciones de política al respecto.


Objectives: To describe the prevalence of the risk of under or overnutrition and the food intake pattern vis á vis the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Colombian Family Welfare Institute. Material and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study carried out in healthy women receiving care in two hospitals of eastern Antioquia, with food and nutrition security in accordance with the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale (ELCSA), in the first trimester of breastfeeding, assessed between 2021 and 2022. The clinical record was used as the source of information. The sociodemographic, clinical, anthropometric characteristics, as well as dietary and micronutrient intake, were measured. Descriptive statistics were used. The prevalence of deficient or excessive energy intake and the food consumption score (FCS) are presented. The EVINDI v5, PC-SIDE v1.0, Stata 16.1 and Jasp 0.16.4 software packages were used. Results: Overall, 30 breastfeeding women were included. The prevalence of the risk of deficient energy intake was 43 %, while the risk of excessive intake was 16 % and the risk of protein deficiency was 98 %. Intake exceeding the reference value for saturated fats was 86 %, and 72 % for simple carbohydrates. The consumption pattern was characterized by exceeding the recommendations for sugars (FCS = 1.29), milk and dairy products (FCS = 1.09), grains, roots, plantains and tubers (FCS = 1.04). Recommendations for the intake of fats (FCS = 0.70), meats, eggs, legumes, nuts, seeds (FCS = 0.49), fruits and vegetables (FCS = 0.41) were not met. Conclusions: The food intake pattern identified is far from meeting the national guidelines, limiting macro and micronutrient intake and contributing to the intergenerational malnutrition cycle. Additional research in the country is essential in order to identify other intake patterns and drive political action.

A alimentação tem efeitos diretos na saúde do binômio mãe-filho, bem como nos desfechos da gravidez, o que torna necessária a análise do consumo alimentar durante a gestação, principalmente considerando as mudanças nos hábitos alimentares ocorridas nas últimas décadas. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o consumo alimentar de gestantes atendidas pela Estratégia Saúde da Família, segundo o grau de processamento e a adequação de macro e micronutrientes. Trata-se de um estudo de corte transversal realizado com 239 gestantes atendidas pela Estratégia Saúde da Família durante o pré-natal. A análise do consumo alimentar foi feita utilizando o questionário de frequência alimentar reduzido, considerando a classificação NOVA. Foram calculados média e desvio padrão, com intervalo de confiança de 95%, porcentagem de contribuição de energia, macro e micronutrientes e adequação aos níveis de consumo recomendados. A maior contribuição energética e de nutrientes derivou de alimentos processados (59%), a maioria das gestantes apresentou elevado consumo de sódio (76,15%), e a contribuição de energia proveniente de alimentos in natura ou minimamente processados (20,3%) e ultraprocessados (20,1%) alcançou valores aproximados. O consumo de proteínas (86,19%), carboidratos (91,63%), fibras (71,55%), sódio (76,15%), zinco (58,16%), magnésio (64,44%), vitaminas A (80,75%), D (52,3%), B12 (69,87%), B9 (51,46%) e C (95,82%) foi acima do recomendado. Houve maior prevalência de consumo de alimentos processados, embora a ingestão de alimentos in natura ou minimamente processados e ultraprocessados tenha atingido níveis aproximados. O consumo de macronutrientes foi inadequado, assim como da maioria dos micronutrientes, segundo as recomendações para gestantes.


Eating has direct effects on the health of the mother-child binomial, as well as on pregnancy outcomes, which makes it necessary to analyze food intake during pregnancy, especially considering the changes in eating habits that have occurred in recent decades. This study aimed to analyze the food intake of pregnant women assisted by the Family Health Strategy according to the degree of processing and the adequacy of macronutrients and micronutrients. This is a cross-sectional study conducted with 239 pregnant women assisted by the Family Health Strategy during prenatal care. The food consumption analysis was done using the reduced food frequency questionnaire, considering the NOVA classification. Mean and standard deviation, with 95% confidence interval, percentage of energy, macronutrients and micronutrients contribution, and adequacy to the recommended consumption levels were calculated. The highest energy and nutrient contribution was derived from processed foods (59%), most pregnant women presented high sodium intake (76.15%), and the energy contribution from in natura or minimally processed (20.3%) and ultra-processed (20.1%) foods reached approximate values. The consumption of proteins (86.19%), carbohydrates (91.63%), fibers (71.55%), sodium (76.15%), zinc (58.16%), magnesium (64.44%), vitamins A (80.75%), D (52.3%), B12 (69.87%), B9 (51.46%), and C (95.82%) was above the recommendations. Higher prevalence of consumption of processed foods was observed, despite the ingestion of in natura or minimally processed and ultraprocessed foods reaching approximate levels. The consumption of macronutrients was inadequate, as well as most micronutrients, according to the recommendations for pregnant women.


La alimentación tiene efectos directos sobre la salud del binomio madre-hijo, así como sobre los resultados del embarazo, lo que hace necesario analizar el consumo de alimentos durante el embarazo, principalmente por los cambios en los hábitos alimentarios ocurridos en las últimas décadas. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el consumo de alimentos por las mujeres embarazadas atendidas en la Estrategia Salud Familiar según el grado de elaboración y adecuación de macronutrientes y de micronutrientes. Este es un estudio transversal, realizado con 239 mujeres embarazadas atendidas por la Estrategia Salud Familiar durante el prenatal. El análisis del consumo de alimentos se realizó mediante un cuestionario de frecuencia alimentaria reducida, considerando la clasificación NOVA. Se calcularon la media y la desviación estándar con un intervalo de confianza del 95%, el aporte porcentual de energía, macronutrientes y micronutrientes y la adecuación a los niveles de ingesta recomendados. El mayor aporte de energía y de nutrientes se derivó de los alimentos procesados (59%), la mayoría de las embarazadas presentaron alto consumo de sodio (76,15), y el aporte de energía de los alimentos in natura o mínimamente procesados (20,3%) y ultraprocesados (20,1%) alcanzó valores aproximados. El consumo de proteínas (86,19%), carbohidratos (91,63%), fibras (71,55%), sodio (76,15%), zinc (58,16%), magnesio (64,44%), vitaminas A (80,75%), D (52,3%), B12 (69,87%), B9 (51,46%) y C (95,82%) estuvo por encima de las recomendaciones. Hubo una mayor prevalencia de consumo de alimentos procesados, aunque la ingesta de alimentos in natura o mínimamente procesados y ultraprocesados alcanzaron niveles aproximados. El consumo de macronutrientes resultó ser inadecuado, así como la mayoría de los micronutrientes recomendados para embarazadas.

INTRODUCTION: Multipathological patients are a vulnerable population with high comorbidity, functional impairment, and nutritional risk. Almost 50% of these hospitalized patients have dysphagia. There is no consensus on whether placement of a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube provides greater clinical benefit. The purpose of this study was to know and compare 2 groups of multipathological patients with dysphagia according to the mode of feeding: PEG vs. oral. METHOD: Retrospective descriptive study with hospitalized patients (2016-19), pluripathological, with dysphagia, nutritional risk, over 50 years with diagnoses of: dementia, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), neurological disease, or oropharyngeal neoplasia. Terminally ill patients with jejunostomy tube or parenteral nutrition were excluded. Sociodemographic variables, clinical situation, and comorbidities were evaluated. Bivariate analysis was performed to compare both groups according to their diet, establishing a significance level of p < .05. RESULTS: 1928 multipathological patients. The PEG group consisted of 84 patients (n122). A total of 84 were randomly selected to form the non-PEG group (n434). This group had less history of bronchoaspiration/pneumonia (p = .008), its main diagnosis was stroke versus dementia in the PEG group (p < .001). Both groups had more than a 45% risk of comorbidity (p = .77). CONCLUSIONS: multipathological patients with dysphagia with PEG usually have dementia as their main diagnosis, however, stroke is the most relevant pathology in those fed orally. Both groups have associated risk factors, high comorbidity, and dependence. This causes their vital prognosis to be limited regardless of the mode of feeding.

Introduction: Hospital pharmacists have been, since 1970's active members in nutritional support commissions [parenteral nutrition (NP) and enteral nutrition (EN)], in our hospitals, mainly in the context of sterile preparation of NP components. This presentation tries to explain their role in this 42-year journey. Without any doubt, in quality leap, in pharmaceutical quality in PN was the step from the preparation in individual vials to the "all-in-one" admixtures", thereby reducing catheter infections due to less handling. Three events occurred in the 1990´s., First, due to increase of NP preparations, the pharmaceutical industry designed three-chamber bags. Second, studies on hospital malnutrition, were launched after verifying that malnutrition increased surgical and medical complications. Finally, the Order of June 2, 1987 regulated Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN). In the first decade of the new century, the growth of patients who were candidates for PN continued. In the last 10 years, we have intensified our work into patients with short bowel with Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN), but above all in the control of ileostomies, after suture failure. and we placed order in the drugs that are stable in NP and in "Y" with it. We also started pharmacokinetics studies in the administration of drugs in different surgical situations: bariatric surgery, total gastrectomy... In the future we will continue to ask questions about how we can improve the nutritional support of our patients.


Introducción: Los farmacéuticos de hospitales fueron, desde los inicios en el decenio de los setenta del siglo pasado, miembros activos en las comisiones de soporte nutricional [nutrición parenteral (NP) y nutrición enteral (NE)], en nuestros hospitales, en el contexto principalmente de la preparación estéril de los componentes de NP. Sin duda, un salto de calidad farmacéutica en la NP, fue el paso de la preparación en frascos individuales al "todo en uno", ya que con ello se disminuían infecciones por catéter a causa de la menor manipulación. Ocurren 3 acontecimientos en la década de los noventa del siglo pasado, el primero, frente al alud de preparaciones de NP la industria farmacéutica irrumpe con una preparación de bolsas tricamerales. El segundo, los inicios de estudios de desnutrición hospitalaria, después de comprobar, que la malnutrición incrementaba las complicaciones quirúrgicas y médicas, y por último la Orden de 2 de junio de 1987 para regular la Nutrición Enteral Domiciliaria. En el primer decenio del nuevo siglo continúa el crecimiento de enfermos candidatos a NP. Los últimos 10 años, hemos profundizado en los enfermos con intestino corto con Nutrición Parenteral Domiciliaria, pero sobre todo en el control de las ileostomías, tras fallo de sutura, y pusimos orden en los fármacos que son estables en la NP y en "Y" con la misma. También iniciamos estudios farmacocinéticos en la administración de fármacos en diferentes situaciones quirúrgicas: cirugía bariátrica, gastrectomía total… El futuro será continuando haciéndose preguntas sobre cómo podemos mejorar el soporte nutricional de nuestros pacientes.

Objetivo: sintetizar as evidências científicas sobre a ocorrência de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT) e seus fatores de risco (FR) na população beneficiária do Programa Bolsa Família (PBF). Métodos: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, cuja busca por publicações de 2004 a 2020 foi feita nas seguintes bases de dados: Literatura Latino-americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Indice Bibliográico Español en Ciencias de la Salud (IBECS), via Biblioteca Virtual da Saúde (BVS); Medline, via Pubmed, SCOPUS (via Portal CAPES); e Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO. Resultados: foram selecionados 23 artigos, os quais foram agrupados em três categorias: 1) Prevalência dos fatores de risco para DCNT em mulheres beneficiárias do PBF: as mulheres beneficiárias apresentaram piores desfechos no consumo de tabaco, menor prática de atividade física, maior prevalência de diabetes, hipertensão e obesidade; 2) Estado nutricional e insegurança alimentar em crianças, adolescentes e famílias beneficiárias do PBF: os estudos apontaram para uma elevada prevalência de obesidade e coexistência de déficit estatural em crianças beneficiárias; e 3) Consumo alimentar de beneficiários do PBF: foi identificado um padrão não saudável de alimentação. Conclusão: usuários do PBF apresentam elevadas prevalências de fatores de risco para doenças crônicas não transmissíveis e pior padrão alimentar. Esses dados reforçam a importância de o PBF estar sendo direcionado às populações mais vulneráveis, visando mitigar as imensas desigualdades sociais. No entanto, é necessário avançar em outras políticas públicas de proteção social que impactem os determinantes sociais e melhorem a qualidade de vida de extensa camada da população brasileira.(AU)

Methods: this is an integrative literature review whose search for publications from 2004 to 2020 was carried out in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Indice Bibliográico Español en Ciencias de la Salud (IBECS), via the Virtual Health Library (VHL); Medline, via Pubmed, Scopus (via Portal CAPES); and Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO. Results: 23 articles were selected and grouped into three categories: 1) Prevalence of risk factors for NCDs in BFP beneficiary women: beneficiary women had worse outcomes in tobacco consumption, lower physical activity, higher prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity; 2) Nutritional status and food insecurity in BFP beneficiary children, adolescents and families: the studies pointed to a high prevalence of obesity and coexistence of height deficit in beneficiary children; and 3) Food consumption of BFP beneficiaries: an unhealthy eating pattern was identified. Conclusion: BFP users have a high prevalence of risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases and worse dietary patterns. These data reinforce the importance of the BFP being directed to the most vulnerable populations, aiming to mitigate the immense social inequalities. However, it is necessary to advance other public policies of social protection that impact the social determinants and improve the life quality of a large part of the Brazilian population.(AU)

Introducción. Una alimentación complementaria adecuada en cantidad y calidad resulta esencial durante los primeros dos años de vida. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la ingesta de nutrientes y prácticas alimentarias en niños de 6 a 23 meses de una localidad del noreste argentino. Población y métodos. Estudio descriptivo transversal (segundo semestre del 2019). Se evaluaron las ingestas de 24 horas mediante recordatorios a los cuidadores de niños de 6 a 23 meses. Los datos se compararon con las ingestas dietéticas de referencia. Las prácticas alimentarias se evaluaron según los indicadores establecidos por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Resultados. Se evaluaron 138 niños de 6 a 23 meses de edad. La energía y las vitaminas A, D y E presentaron porcentajes medios de adecuación inferiores al 100 % en todas las edades, mientras que las proteínas alcanzaron una adecuación promedio del 142,8 % y el 168,1 % para los niños de 7-12 meses y de 13-23 meses, respectivamente. Los nutrientes que presentaron una proporción considerable de casos con ingestas por debajo del requerimiento promedio estimado en todos los grupos fueron la energía y la vitamina A. En cuanto a los indicadores de prácticas alimentarias, 50,8 % de los lactantes recibió una dieta mínima aceptable. Conclusiones. Existe una alta prevalencia de inadecuación energética y de nutrientes críticos durante la alimentación complementaria en los niños de 6 a 23 meses incluidos en el estudio. Intervenciones nutricionales que promuevan prácticas alimentarias que mejoren la ingesta de micronutrientes serían de suma importancia para su salud actual y futura.


Introduction. An adequate quantity and quality of complementary feeding is essential during the first 2 years of life. The objective of this study was to assess dietary intakes and feeding practices in children aged 6­23 months in a town in the Northeast region of Argentina. Population and methods. Descriptive, cross-sectional study (second semester of 2019). Intakes from 24-hour dietary recall interviews conducted among caregivers of children aged 6­23 months were assessed. Data were compared to dietary reference intakes. Feeding practices were assessed as per the World Health Organization's indicators. Results. A total of 138 children aged 6­23 months were assessed. The mean adequacy ratio of energy and vitamins A, D, and E was below 100% for all ages, whereas the protein adequacy for children aged 7-12 and 13-23 months was 142.8% and 168.1%, respectively. A remarkable number of cases had energy and vitamin A intakes below the estimated average requirement. In relation to feeding practice indicators, 50.8% of infants received a minimum acceptable diet. Conclusions. There is a high prevalence of an inadequate level of energy and critical nutrient intake during complementary feeding of the children aged 6­23 months included in the study. Nutritional interventions that promote feeding practices to improve micronutrient intake would be highly important for children's current and future health.

Objetivo: identificar o consumo e hábitos alimentares de crianças de 2 a 6 anos de uma escola comunitária em um município no Nordeste do estado de Santa Catarina em tempos de COVID- 19, no ano de 2020. Material e método: estudo transversal, descritivo, quantitativo. Participaram 30 responsáveis legais de crianças de 2 a 6 anos de idade. A coleta de dados foi realizada entre os meses de julho e agosto de 2020. Foi utilizado um formulário eletrônico e os dados obtidos foram analisados, inicialmente, de forma descritiva. Para verificar associação entre IMC, sexo e escolaridade foi utilizado teste Qui-quadrado e Exato de Fischer. Principais resultados: a média de idade das crianças foi de 4,33 anos ±1,30 anos. A amostra consistiu predominantemente do sexo feminino (70,0%), estudantes do período matutino (53,3%) e realizavam as refeições a mesa com a família (56,6%), quanto ao estado nutricional 30,0% apresentavam risco de sobrepeso/obesidade. Ao investigar-se a ingestão de alimentos ultraprocessados, houve associação significativa entre o sexo da criança (p=0,030) e escolaridade dos pais/responsáveis (p=0,030). Conclusão: torna-se necessário o desenvolvimento de medidas para o monitoramento contínuo do perfil nutricional de crianças e o desenvolvimento de ações interdisciplinares educativas, voltadas à promoção de hábitos saudáveis e à prevenção do excesso de peso, em especial, em momentos de crise, isolamento social e pandemia.


Introduction: In times of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing it is paramount to pay attention to infancy food habits in order to maintain good health, immunity, and to prevent immediate and future diseases. Objective: To identify the consumption and eating habits of children aged 2 to 6 years old at a community school in a municipality in the Northeast of the state of Santa Catarina in times of COVID-19, in 2020. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study. 30 legal guardians of children aged from 2 to 6 years old participated in this research. Data collection was performed between July and August of 2020. An electronic questionnaire was used and the data obtained was initially analyzed in a descriptive manner. The Chi- Square test and Fisher's exact test were applied to verify the association between BMI, sex, and education. Results: The children's mean age was 4.33 ±1,30 years. The sample was predominantly of female sex (70.0%), morning students (53.3%), and children who ate meals at the table with their families (56.6%). As for their nutritional status, 30.0% of the children presented risk for overweight/obesity. When the consumption of ultra-processed foods was investigated, a significant association between children's sex (p=0.030) and parents/legal guardians' education (p=0.030) was observed. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop strategies to continuously monitor the nutritional status of children and to create educational interdisciplinary actions towards the promotion of healthy habits and the prevention of excess body weight, especially during times of crisis, social distancing and pandemic.

Conclusión: se hace necesario el desarrollo de medidas de seguimiento continuo del perfil nutricional de los niños y el desarrollo de acciones educativas interdisciplinares, dirigidas a la promoción de hábitos saludables y a la prevención del sobrepeso, especialmente en épocas de crisis, aislamiento social y pandemia.

Introduction: Introduction: subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a rare and life-threatening cerebrovascular disease. Mitigating the factors that compromise patient recovery during neurocritical care due to SAH is of clinical benefit. Objectives: to evaluate the nutritional risk of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage using "The Modified Nutrition Risk in the Critically Ill" (mNUTRIC) score, and examine its association with outcomes such as mortality, time of mechanical ventilation, and functional status among survivors. Methods: we designed a cross-sectional study. Patients with SAH admitted to the neurointensive critical care unit (neuroICU) in a tertiary care public hospital were eligible. The inclusion criteria were a minimum stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) of 24 hrs for subarachnoid hemorrhage from a nontraumatic, spontaneously ruptured cerebral aneurysm, and hospital admission within 24 hrs after the onset of symptoms. Results: high nutritional risk as stratified by the mNUTRIC score was associated with discharge type (OR = 0.346; 95 % CI = 0.182-0.650; p = 0.001), acute hypertensive hydrocephalus (OR = 4.371; 95 % CI = 2.283-8.549; p < 0.001), and functional outcome (OR = 0.106; 95 % CI = 0.025-0.0388; p < 0.001). The mNUTRIC score was significantly different among median age (p < 0.001), length of stay in the neuroICU (p = 0.005), SOFA score (p < 0.001), and APACHE II score (p < 0.001) categories. Conclusions: this study demonstrated an association between nutritional risk assessment and outcomes such as length of stay in the neuroICU, type of discharge, functional status, and mortality prediction accuracy.


Introducción: Introducción: la hemorragia subaracnoidea es una forma rara de enfermedad cerebrovascular que pone en peligro la vida del paciente. Reducir los factores que comprometen la recuperación de los pacientes durante los cuidados neurocríticos tiene benefício clínico. Objetivo: evaluar el riesgo nutricional de los pacientes con hemorragia subaracnoidea por aneurisma utilizando la puntuación "The Modified Nutrition Risk in the Critically Ill" (mNUTRIC) y su asociación con resultados como la mortalidad, el tiempo de ventilación mecánica y el estado funcional entre los supervivientes. Método: diseñamos un estudio transversal. Fueron elegibles los pacientes con hemorragia subaracnoidea ingresados en la unidad de cuidados críticos neurointensivos (neuroUCI) de un hospital público de atención terciaria. Los criterios de inclusión fueron una permanencia mínima de 24 horas en la UCI, hemorragia subaracnoidea por rotura espontánea no traumática de aneurisma cerebral, e ingreso hospitalario en las 24 horas siguientes al inicio de los síntomas. Resultados: el alto riesgo nutricional estratificado por la puntuación mNUTRIC se asoció con el tipo de alta (OR = 0,346; IC 95 % = 0,182-0,650; p = 0,001), la hidrocefalia hipertensiva aguda (OR = 4,371; IC 95 % = 2,283-8,549; p < 0,001) y el resultado funcional (OR = 0,106; IC 95 % = 0,025-0,0388; p < 0,001). La puntuación mNUTRIC presentó diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las medianas de edad (p < 0,001), duración de la permanencia en la neuroUCI (p = 0,005), puntuación SOFA (p < 0,001) y puntuación APACHE II (p < 0,001). Conclusión: este estudio demuestra una asociación de la evaluación del riesgo nutricional con resultados como la necesidad de ventilación mecánica, la duración de la permanencia en la neuroUCI, el tipo de alta, el estado funcional y la precisión en la predicción de la mortalidad.

A demanda da população mundial por produtos aquáticos esta se incrementando, enquanto que a produção da pesca extrativa reduzindo, alcançando em muitos casos, seu máximo potencial produtivo. Como consequência, não será possível em curto prazo, sustentar o fornecimento de produtos aquáticos, direcionado a uma população que constantemente cresce e demanda pescados. O setor produtivo segue a tendência atual de outros sistemas de produção animal, os quais vêm buscando o aumento da produtividade, de maneira sustentável, do ponto de vista econômico e ambiental, requerendo, principalmente, o aporte da nutrição para contribuir com essa tendência. Os estudos com os aditivos adicionados a dieta dos animais de cativeiro é uma estratégia que tem demonstrado alto potencial para sua inclusão na aquicultura, havendo a possibilidade de um aumento nos índices produtivos e/ou melhora na qualidade do produto para o consumidor. A ractopamina é um aditivo classificado como um agonista beta-adrenérgico e seu mecanismo de ação esta associado com efeitos sobre o metabolismo dos peixes que diminuem o acúmulo de gorduras, por meio da inibição da lipogêneses e estimulo da lipólise, e por mecanismos que favorecem a síntese de proteínas muscular. Os estudos realizados até o momento comprovam que existem alterações metabólicas nos peixes, embora, não se tem encontrado, em todos os estudos, diferenças significativas nos índices zootécnicos, para assim, estabelecer seu uso na indústria. A realização de mais pesquisas é necessária para o melhor entendimento da ractopamina na alimentação dos peixes, sobretudo, no entendimento dos receptores e mecanismos de ação dos peixes.(AU)


The demand of the global population for aquatic products is increasing while the production of extractive fisheries is reducing, and, in many cases, even reaching its maximum productive potential. As a consequence, it will not be possible in the short term to sustain the supply of aquatic products aimed at a population in constant growth and in demand for fish. The productive sector follows the current trend of other animal production systems, which have been seeking to sustainably increase productivity from an economic and environmental point of view, mainly requiring the contribution of nutrition to this trend. Studies with additives to the diet of captive animals is a strategy that has shown high potential for inclusion in aquaculture, with the possibility of an increase in production rates and/or improvement in the quality of the product for the consumer. Ractopamine is an additive classified as a beta-adrenergic agonist and its mechanism of action is associated with effects on fish metabolism that reduce the accumulation of fats through the inhibition of lipogenesis and stimulation of lipolysis, and by mechanisms that favor the synthesis of muscle protein. The studies carried out so far prove that there are metabolic changes in fish, although no significant differences have been found in zootechnical indexes in order to establish its use in the industry. Further research is required for a better understanding of ractopamine in fish nutrition, especially in understanding the receptors and mechanisms of action in fish.(AU)


La demanda de la población mundial por productos acuáticos va en aumento, mientras que la producción de la pesca extractiva se reduce, alcanzando, en muchos casos, su máximo potencial productivo. Como consecuencia, no será posible en corto plazo sostener el suministro de productos acuáticos, dirigidos a una población que crece constantemente y demanda pescado. El sector productivo sigue la tendencia actual de otros sistemas de producción animal, que han venido buscando incrementar la productividad, de manera sostenible, desde el punto de vista económico y ambiental, requiriendo, principalmente, del aporte de la nutrición para contribuir a esa tendencia. Los estudios con aditivos agregados a la dieta de animales en cautiverio es una estrategia que ha mostrado un alto potencial para su inclusión en la acuicultura, con posibilidad de incremento en los índices de producción y/o mejora en la calidad del producto para el consumidor. La ractopamina es un aditivo clasificado como agonista beta-adrenérgico y su mecanismo de acción está asociado con efectos sobre el metabolismo de los peces que reducen la acumulación de grasas, a través de la inhibición de la lipogénesis y estimulación del lipólisis, y por mecanismos que favorecen la síntesis de proteínas musculares. Los estudios realizados hasta el momento prueban que existen cambios metabólicos en los peces, aunque en todos los estudios no se han encontrado diferencias significativas en los índices zootécnicos, con el fin de establecer su uso en la industria. Se necesita más investigación para comprender mejor la ractopamina en la nutrición de los peces, especialmente para comprender los receptores y los mecanismos de acción en los peces.(AU)

Background: Analysis of health inequalities by ethnicity is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. In Ecuador, similar to other Latin American countries, indigenous and afro-descendant populations have long been subject to racism, discrimination, and inequitable treatment. Although in recent years, Ecuador has made progress in health indicators, particularly those related to the coverage of Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (RMNCH) interventions, little is known as to whether inequalities by ethnicity persist. Methods: Analysis was based on two nationally representative health surveys (2004 and 2012). Ethnicity was self-reported and classified into three categories (Indigenous/Afro-Ecuadorian/Mixed ancestry). Coverage data for six RMNCH health interventions were stratified for each ethnic group by level of education, area of residence and wealth quintiles. Absolute inequality measures were computed and multivariate analysis using Poisson regression was undertaken. Findings: In 2012, 74.4% of women self-identifying as indigenous did not achieve the secondary level of education and 50.7% were in the poorest quintile (Q1); this profile was relatively unchanged since 2004. From 2004 to 2012, the coverage of RMNCH interventions increased for all ethnic groups, and absolute inequality decreased. However, in 2012, regardless of education level, area of residence and wealth quintiles, ethnic inequalities remained for almost all RMNCH interventions. Indigenous women had 24% lower prevalence of modern contraceptive use (Prevalence ratio [PR] = 0.76; 95% IC: 0.7-0.8); 28% lower prevalence of antenatal care (PR = 0.72; 95% IC: 0.6-0.8); and 35% lower prevalence of skilled birth attendance and institutional delivery (PR = 0.65; 95% IC: 0.6-0.7 and PR = 0.65; 95% IC: 0.6-0.7 respectively), compared with the majority ethnic group in the country. Interpretation: While the gaps have narrowed, indigenous people in Ecuador continue in a situation of structural racism and are left behind in terms of access to RMNCH interventions. Strategies to reduce ethnic inequalities in the coverage services need to be collaboratively redesigned/co-designed. Se trata de la recopilación de información sobre estudios que reflejan la situación nutricional en Ecuador, y las comparaciones entre los percentiles ecuatorianos y los que sugiere la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). Estudios refieren que este tipo de comparación difiere de las realidades de un país pues presenta diferente ubicación geográfica y por sus rasgos culturales, que difieren ancestralmente se presentan divergencias entre la alimentación, estilos de vida, bases socioeconómicas, rasgos antropométricos y otras variables que influyen y que han obligado a crear sus propios estándares de comparaciones. Objetivo: Describir la situación nutricional entre los percentiles ecuatorianos y la OMS en adolescentes de 12 años. Materiales y método: Es del tipo cualitativa, descriptiva, donde se recopila información relevante vinculada al descriptor en estudio, por eso la modalidad es tipo documental y descriptiva, transversal y observacional porque se le y observa información relevante de momento y se describe y señalan procedimientos como modelos para otras investigaciones. Resultados: Ecuador como país latinoamericano refleja una situación alimentaria y nutricional de amplio potencial productivo, de grandes oportunidades y capacidades socioeconómicas, necesarios para dar respuestas a las exigencias nutricionales de su población. Sin embargo, la información sobre el estado nutricional de la población infantil refleja el desarrollo del país, con una reducción significativa de la prevalencia de retardo de crecimiento, que prevalecen mucho más en grupos indígenas, por problemas sociales: mortalidad infantil, pobreza, indigencia y analfabetismo. Conclusiones: Estimar valores de desnutrición y sobrepeso a través de comparaciones por los percentiles internacionales (WHO) y los de Estados Unidos no reflejan la realidad de una población que difiere en todo con la de esos estándares comparativos. Por ello el esfuerzo de estudios por crear sus propios estándares nacionales es loable y muestra las realidades de una población(AU)


This is the collection of information on studies that reflect the nutritional situation in Ecuador, and comparisons between Ecuadorian percentiles and those suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO). Studies report that this type of comparison differs from the realities of a country because it has different geographical location and its cultural features, which differ ancestrally, there are divergences between food, lifestyles, socioeconomic bases, anthropometric traits and other variables that influence and that have forced to create their own standards of comparisons. Objective: To describe the nutritional situation between the Ecuadorian and WHO percentiles in 12-year-old adolescents Materials and methods: It is of the qualitative, descriptive type, where relevant information linked to the descriptor in study is collected, so the modality is documentary and descriptive, transversal and observational because relevant information is observed at the moment and procedures are described and indicated as models for another research. Results: Ecuador as a Latin American country reflects a food and nutritional situation with ample productive potential, great opportunities and socioeconomic capacities, necessary to respond to the nutritional demands of its population. However, information on the nutritional status of the child population reflects the development of the country, with a significant reduction in the prevalence of growth retardation, which is much more prevalent in indigenous groups, due to social problems: infant mortality, poverty, indigence and illiteracy. Conclusions: Estimating values of malnutrition and overweight through comparisons by the international percentiles (WHO) and those of the United States do not reflect the reality of a population that differs in everything with that of these comparative standards. That is why the effort of studies to create their own national standards is laudable and shows the realities of a population(AU)

Introduction: Appropriate nutritional assessment and interventions are associated with improved prognosis for hospitalized patients and reduced healthcare expenditure. After discharge, good communication between endocrinology specialists and primary care physicians is necessary to ensure continuity of care. Regarding the primary care provider and the specialist in clinical nutrition, this article summarizes traditional and novel tools for the morphofunctional assessment of nutritional status, with an emphasis on those that can be used in primary care. We also give some key points to improve relationships and communication between specialists in nutrition and primary care physicians.


Introducción: Una evaluación e intervención nutricional adecuada se asocia a un mejor pronóstico y a una disminución de los costes en el paciente hospitalizado.Tras el alta, es necesaria una buena comunicación entre el médico especialista en endocrinología y nutrición y el médico especialista de Atención Primaria (AP) para asegurar la continuidad asistencial. Teniendo en cuenta el punto del médico de AP y del especialista en nutrición clínica, en este artículo se resumen las herramientas de valoración morfofuncional del estado nutricional, tanto clásicas como emergentes, destacando aquellas que se pueden utilizar en AP. Además, se dan algunas claves para mejorar la relación bidireccional y la comunicación entre los especialistas en nutrición y los médicos de AP.

Introducción: En la investigación desarrollada en el servicio de neonatología del hospital Docente Ginecobstétrico "Eusebio Hernández", se pudo constatar que para el personal de enfermería el cuidado del recién nacido que se encuentra en recuperación nutricional es un elemento importante para el progreso de la atención del neonato en las salas de cuidados intensivos neonatales. Objetivo: Identificar las competencias específicas de enfermería para el cuidado del recién nacido en recuperación nutricional. Métodos: Investigación de desarrollo tecnológico en el Hospital Ginecobstétrico Eusebio Hernández en La Habana durante 2020. El universo lo constituyeron 50 profesionales de enfermería que laboran en el servicio de neonatología. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se utilizó el método DACUM (desarrollo del currículum laboral), se confeccionó las funciones y tareas, con la participación de expertos, se construyó el mapa DACUM. Resultados: Se identificaron 6 competencias específicas en relación con 6 funciones y sus tareas en lo que la totalidad de los expertos estuvieron de acuerdo por tener un alto nivel científico. Conclusiones: Se identificaron las competencias específicas de enfermería para el cuidado de neo-natos en recuperación nutricional, lo que permitió mejorar la calidad de la atención a estos recién nacidos y el perfeccionamiento de los profesionales.


Introduction: In the research carried out in the neonatology service of the Eusebio Hernández Gyneco-Obstetric Teaching Hospital, it was found that for the nursing staff the care of the newborn who is in nutritional recovery is an important element for the progress of care of the neonate in neonatal intensive care wards. Objective: To identify the specific nursing competencies for the care of the newborn in nutritional recovery. Methods: Technological development research at the Eusebio Hernández Gyneco-Obstetric Hospital in Havana during 2020. The universe was made up of 50 nursing professionals working in the neonatology service. For the development of the research, the DACUM method (development of the work curriculum) was used, the functions and tasks were prepared, with the participation of experts, the DACUM map was constructed. Results: 6 specific competences were identified in relation to 6 functions and their tasks, in which all the experts agreed due to having a high scientific level. Conclusions: Specific nursing competencies for the care of neonates in nutritional recovery were identified, which allowed improving the quality of care for these newborns and the improvement of professionals.


Introdução: Na pesquisa realizada no serviço de neonatologia do Hospital Universitário Gineco-Obstétrico "Eusebio Hernández", constatou-se que para a equipe de enfermagem o cuidado ao recém-nascido em recuperação nutricional é um elemento importante para o andamento da assistência do recém-nascido em enfermarias de terapia intensiva neonatal. Objetivo: Identificar as competências específicas de enfermagem para o cuidado ao recém-nascido em recuperação nutricional. Métodos: Pesquisa de desenvolvimento tecnológico no Hospital "Eusebio Hernández" Gyneco-Obstétrico de Havana em 2020. O universo era formado por 50 profissionais de enfermagem que atuavam no serviço de neonatologia. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, foi utilizado o método DACUM (elaboração do currículo do trabalho), foram elaboradas as funções e tarefas, com a participação de especialistas, foi construído o mapa DACUM. Resultados: identificaram-se 6 competências específicas em relação a 6 funções e respetivas tarefas, em que todos os peritos concordaram por possuírem um elevado nível científico. Conclusões: Foram identificadas competências específicas de enfermagem para o cuidado ao recém-nascido em recuperação nutricional, o que permitiu melhorar a qualidade da assistência a esses recém-nascidos e o aprimoramento dos profissionais.

La carrera de Nutrición y Dietética hoy en día cuenta con un auge e importancia transcendental que radica fundamentalmente en la prevención, educación y atención de los problemas relacionados con la salud y la nutrición. Su objetivo es formar académicamente a los profesionales con un perfil que responda a las necesidades alimentarias y nutricionales de las personas desde una perspectiva integral. Se presenta una revisión de la historia, logros y producción académica de la Escuela de Nutrición y Dietética de la Universidad de Los Andes (ULA), desde su fundación en 1971 hasta el presente. La metodología utilizada fue la revisión de los archivos históricos de la Facultad de Medicina y entrevistas a los docentes. La transformación académica y administrativa ha permitido egresar 1600 profesionales y estudios de 4t0 nivel en la Especialización Nutrición Clínica. Su prestigiosa planta profesoral ha cristalizado, productos y proyectos tangibles, merecedores de distinciones y reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales. La Escuela de Nutrición y Dietética de la ULA es reconocida como una Institución Académica, de alta calidad con gran proyección al servicio de la humanidad y crecimiento profesional de la nutrición en el país(AU)


The Nutrition and Dietetics career today has a boom and transcendental importance that lies fundamentally in the prevention, education and care of problems related to health and nutrition. Its objective is to academically train professionals with a profile that responds to the food and nutritional needs of people from a comprehensive perspective. A review of the history, achievements and academic production of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) is presented, from its foundation in 1971 to the present. The methodology used was the review of the historical archives of the Faculty of Medicine and several interviews with the professors. The academic and administrative transformation has allowed 1,600 professionals to graduate. The School of Nutrition and Dietetics offers 4th level studies in Clinical Nutrition Specialization and counts with a prestigious teaching staff that has crystallized tangible products and projects, deserving of national and international distinctions and recognitions. The School of Nutrition and Dietetics of the ULA is recognized as a high-quality Academic Institution with great projection at the service of humanity and professional growth of nutrition in the country(AU)

Resumen: Objetivo: Investigar el cumplimiento de las recomendaciones de aislamiento ante síntomas de Covid-19 o contacto con un caso. Material y métodos: Estudio transversal basado en la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2020 sobre Covid-19. Se describió la prevalencia de aislamiento y su asociación con factores del nivel individual, hogar y contexto utilizando modelos de regresión log-binomial. Resultados: El 48.1% de la población >10 años reportó quedarse en casa ante síntomas o contacto con un caso. La prevalencia de aislamiento fue menor entre población ocupada vs. no-ocupada (RP 0.81; IC95% 0.73-0.89), mayor entre personas con alto nivel socioeconómico vs. bajo (RP 1.22; IC95% 1.08-1.38) y menor entre personas viviendo en estados sin un mensaje específico sobre aislamiento vs. estados con mensaje específico (RP 0.76; IC95% 0.63-0.91). Conclusiones: El cumplimiento de las recomendaciones de aislamiento durante la pandemia de Covid-19 estuvo asociado con factores socioeconómicos individuales y con la calidad de los mensajes de salud pública de los estados.


Abstract: Objective: To examine compliance to isolation and quarantine recommendations during the early phase of the Covid-19 epidemic in Mexico. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional population-based study (National Health and Nutrition Survey 2020 Covid-19). We estimated the prevalence of compliance with recommendations and assessed its association with individual, household and context level variables using log-binomial models. Results: 48.1% of the population over 10 years old reported staying at home when faced with symptoms or a potential contact with a case. The prevalence was lower in employed vs unemployed population (PR 0.81; 95%IC 0.73-0.89), higher among higher socioeconomic position groups vs lower (RP 1.22; 95%IC 1.08-1.38), and lower among people living in states with an unspecific public health message regarding isolation and quarantine (RP 0.76; 95%IC 0.63-0.91). Conclusions: Compliance to isolation and quarantine recommendations was associated with socioeconomic factors and the quality of public health messages during the Covid-19 pandemic in Mexico.
