Safety and security of older persons in Tehran, Iran: a sociological appraisal of elder abuse.

The article explores and evaluates the quality of life, safety, and security of elderly people in Tehran City in Iran. In that, different dimensions of material and social well-being, and abuse of people of the age 65 and above, are assessed. Besides the human rights, the dignity, and the gradual decline of the elderly's social security are reflected. The research also aims to study the elder age-groups in order to find out how these people gradually lose their physical and mental reliance, and as a result, how their dependence on others and various services enhances. The method of research mainly being empirical, it is preceded by theoretical and literature review. Five hundred elderly people were randomly selected for the study. Findings suggest that the aging pyramid shrinks and narrows at the age of 65 or even before in the present study. Research reached the conclusion that the young elderly with new needs and expectations are highly different from those of their pervious generations.

It Is given detailed feature to activity each of structures, forming this service (stationary institutions of the social service, social care centres, branches home service, day-time branches for the aged, branches acute care and others), as on country as a whole, so and in cut separate regions and federal areas. The reflected main successes and trends of the development social-gerontological service, as well as problems, which permit depends on relations state to senior generation.

A combination of extended life expectancy and the graying of America is resulting in a rapidly growing industry known as assisted living. Based on a Scandinavian model for senior housing, assisted living first emerged in America during the mid 1980s. The concept is still so new that states that license these facilities do not agree on a precise definition. It is generally considered a residential alternative between independent retirement living and total institutionalized skilled care.
