[Determining the optimal frequency of preventive fluorographic examination of the population]. / Opredelenie optimal'noi periodichnosti profilakticheskikh fliuorograficheskikh obsledovanii naseleniia.

The results relating to a 4-year observation of 62,000 residents of Alma-Ata based on individual cards of fluorographic examinations are presented. It is shown that the intensive indices on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis, lung cancer and x-ray-positive nonspecific diseases of the lungs as well as the proportion of neglected forms of the diseases increased with increasing of the intervals between the fluorographic examinations. The economic losses due to the diseases also increased. It is recommended that under conditions of increased incidence of tuberculosis fluorographic examination of adults and adolescents be performed annually while that of males at the age of 50 years or older be performed twice a year.
