Significados da permanência do recém-nascido na UTI após a alta da mãe: estudo fenomenológico heideggeriano / The significance of a newborn stay in the ICU after the mother's discharge: a heideggerian phenomenological study
Upon being discharged, the mothers were frightened as their children remained in hospital. They described their preterm newborns' characteristics and claimed to be scared because their babies were born before the due time and were small; they were not familiar with the unit and were horrified by the equipment. Fearful, they will deal with daily tasks in an impersonal way. Further Considerations Mothers should receive care in this unit so that they understand what is happening, minimizing their fears, and so that they become protagonists of actions targeting their babies, which characterizes a family-centered care.
