ABSTRACT

Understanding the evolution of antibiotic resistance is important for combating drug-resistant bacteria. In this work, we investigated the adaptive response of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin-susceptible P. aeruginosa ATCC 9027, CIP-E1 (P. aeruginosa ATCC 9027 exposed to ciprofloxacin for 14 days) and CIP-E2 (CIP-E1 cultured in antibiotic-free broth for 10 days) were compared. Phenotypic responses including cell morphology, antibiotic susceptibility, and production of pyoverdine, pyocyanin and rhamnolipid were assessed. Proteomic responses were evaluated using comparative iTRAQ labelling LC-MS/MS to identify differentially expressed proteins (DEPs). Expression of associated genes coding for notable DEPs and their related regulatory genes were checked using quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR. CIP-E1 displayed a heterogeneous morphology, featuring both filamentous cells and cells with reduced length and width. By contrast, although filaments were not present, CIP-E2 still exhibited size reduction. Considering the MIC values, ciprofloxacin-exposed strains developed resistance to fluoroquinolone antibiotics but maintained susceptibility to other antibiotic classes, except for carbapenems. Pyoverdine and pyocyanin production showed insignificant decreases, whereas there was a significant decrease in rhamnolipid production. A total of 1039 proteins were identified, of which approximately 25 % were DEPs. In general, there were more downregulated proteins than upregulated proteins. Noted changes included decreased OprD and PilP, and increased MexEF-OprN, MvaT and Vfr, as well as proteins of ribosome machinery and metabolism clusters. Gene expression analysis confirmed the proteomic data and indicated the downregulation of rpoB and rpoS. In summary, the response to CIP involved approximately a quarter of the proteome, primarily associated with ribosome machinery and metabolic processes. Potential targets for bacterial interference encompassed outer membrane proteins and global regulators, such as MvaT.

ABSTRACT

Coulomb explosion imaging (CEI) with x-ray free electron lasers has recently been shown to be a powerful method for obtaining detailed structural information of gas-phase planar ring molecules [R. Boll et al., X-ray multiphoton-induced Coulomb explosion images complex single molecules, Nat. Phys. 18, 423 (2022).NPAHAX1745-247310.1038/s41567-022-01507-0]. In this Letter, we investigate the potential of CEI driven by a tabletop laser and extend this approach to differentiating three-dimensional structures. We study the static CEI patterns of planar and nonplanar organic molecules that resemble the structures of typical products formed in ring-opening reactions. Our results reveal that each molecule exhibits a well-localized and distinctive pattern in three-dimensional fragment-ion momentum space. We find that these patterns yield direct information about the molecular structures and can be qualitatively reproduced using a classical Coulomb explosion simulation. Our findings suggest that laser-induced CEI can serve as a robust method for differentiating molecular structures of organic ring and chain molecules. As such, it holds great promise as a method for following ultrafast structural changes, e.g., during ring-opening reactions, by tracking the motion of individual atoms in pump-probe experiments.

ABSTRACT

In Vietnam, each primary care community health center (CHC) consists of a multi-professional team with six disciplines, including a physician, assistant physician, nurse, pharmacist, midwife, and Vietnamese traditional physician, who are able to meet the majority of patient's needs at the primary care level. How they collaborate, especially in chronic disease management (CDM), is still limited described in the literature. This study aims to gain insight into the perceptions and the experiences of primary health care providers (PHCPs) toward interprofessional collaboration (IPC) in CDM in CHCs in (Hue) Vietnam. A qualitative study of descriptive phenomenology was performed using two focus groups and 15 semi-structured interviews with PHCPs from six professions relevant to CDM in CHCs. The data were analyzed using NVivo 12.0 with a thematic analysis method by a multiprofessional research team. From the analysis, the data were classified into three main themes: "lack of collaborative practice," "knowledge," and "facilitators and barriers to IPC." This study provided evidence of the awareness that actual collaboration in daily care is fragmentarily organized and that PHCPs try to finish their tasks within their profession. PHCPs work multiprofessionally and lack shared decision-making in patient-centered care. There is a need to develop an interprofessional education program and training to address these deficiencies in the Vietnamese context to improve interprofessional collaboration in health care.

ABSTRACT

Accurate and rapid detection of pathogens in foods of animal origin has been a critical part of the One Health Action Plan of the European Union (EU). Biosensors have the potential in bringing required technologies to accomplish this on the field, wherein loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and lab-on-a-chip have proven to be ideal. We have developed a LAMP-based point-of-care (POC) device, the VETPOD, as a solution to the contemporary challenges in the rapid detection of Salmonella spp. The core technology in the VETPOD is a ready-to-use cartridge that included an injection-molded polymer chip with pyramid-shaped optical structures embedded within the chip. These pyramid-shaped optical structures direct the incident light, due to total internal reflection (TIR), through the reaction chambers to the phototransistor. The VETPOD was validated against the ISO 6579-1 reference method. A total of 310 samples were tested that included 180 Salmonella spiked samples in 6 different meat categories and 130 strains to determine the specificity. The overall results were satisfactory, wherein the VETPOD had an acceptable sensitivity (96.51%) compared to the reference (98.81%) and near perfect agreement with ISO 6579-1 with an overall Cohen's kappa of 0.94. The relative level of detection (RLOD) for the VETPOD was 1.38 CFU/25 g that was found to be 1.17 times higher than the reference. The VETPOD showed 98% precision for inclusivity and 100% precision for the exclusivity samples. The VETPOD proved as a useful alternative to detect Salmonella spp. that can be adaptable to a broader spectrum of pathogens in future.

ABSTRACT

Here we present the 3-year results of ZUMA-4, a phase I/II multicenter study evaluating the safety and efficacy of KTEX19, an autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, in pediatric/adolescent patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Phase I explored two dose levels and formulations. The primary endpoint was the incidence of dose-limiting toxicities. Thirty-one patients were enrolled; KTE-X19 was administered to 24 patients (median age 13.5 years, range 3-20; median follow-up 36.1 months). No dose-limiting toxicities were observed. All treated patients had grade ≥3 adverse events, commonly hypotension (50%) and anemia (42%). Grade 3 cytokine release syndrome rates were 33% in all treated patients, 75% in patients given the dose of 2×106 CAR T cells/kg, 27% in patients given the dose of 1×106 cells/kg in the 68 mL formulation, and 22% in patients given the dose of 1×106 cells/kg in the 40 mL formulation; the percentages of patients experiencing grade ≥3 neurologic events were 21%, 25%, 27%, and 11% respectively. Overall complete remission rates (including complete remission with incomplete hematologic recovery) were 67% in all treated patients, 75% in patients given 2×106 CAR T cells/kg, 64% in patients given 1×106 cells/kg in the 68 mL formulation, and 67% in patients given 1×106 cells/kg in the 40 mL formulation. Overall minimal residual diseasenegativity rates were 100% among responders; 88% of responders underwent subsequent allogeneic stem-cell transplantation. In the 1×106 (40 mL) group (recommended phase II dose), the median duration of remission censored at allogeneic stem-cell transplantation and median overall survival were not reached. Pediatric/adolescent patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia achieved high minimal residual disease-negative remission rates with a manageable safety profile after a single dose of KTE-X19. Phase II of the study is ongoing at the dose of 1×106 CAR T cells/kg in the 40 mL formulation. ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT02625480.

ABSTRACT

Sensitive and rapid detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been a vital goal in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We present in this comprehensive work, for the first time, detailed fabrication and clinical validation of a point of care (PoC) device for rapid, onsite detection of SARS-CoV-2 using a real-time reverse-transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) reaction on a polymer cartridge. The PoC system, namely PATHPOD, consisting of a standalone device (weight less than 1.2 kg) and a cartridge, can perform the detection of 10 different samples and two controls in less than 50 min, which is much more rapid than the golden standard real-time reverse-transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), typically taking 16-48 h. The novel total internal reflection (TIR) scheme and the reactions inside the cartridge in the PoC device allow monitoring of the diagnostic results in real-time and onsite. The analytical sensitivity and specificity of the PoC test are comparable with the current RT-PCR, with a limit of detection (LOD) down to 30-50 viral genome copies. The robustness of the PATHPOD PoC system has been confirmed by analyzing 398 clinical samples initially examined in two hospitals in Denmark. The clinical sensitivity and specificity of these tests are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Prevalence of health workers with occupational health issues ranked fourth among all careers resulting in a reduction in quality of life. However, tools to measure professional quality of life (ProQoL) are unavailable in Vietnamese. This study aims to develop a Vietnamese version of the ProQoL, and examine ProQoL and its associated factors among doctors and nurses. METHODS: The ProQoL is comprised of 30 items measures compassion satisfaction (CS), burnout (BO), and secondary traumatic stress (STS). The tool was translated into Vietnamese following the Guideline by Guillemin et. al (1993), reviewed by expert panels, and validated for internal consistency and test-retest reliability among 38 health workers working at hospitals in HCMC. The validated tool was then used in a cross-sectional study to measure the ProQoL of full-time doctors and nurses working in clinical departments at the University Medical Center, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In addition to the ProQoL, self-reported data about demographic and occupational characteristics were collected. RESULTS: The Vietnamese version of ProQoL achieved high internal consistency (alphas between 0.85 and 0.91) and Intra-class Correlation Coefficients (ICCs between 0.71 and 0.89) for all subscales. Among 316 health workers, mean scores of CS, BO, STS were 36.4 (SD = 5.4), 24.9 (SD = 5.1), 25.9 (SD = 5.3), respectively, indicating moderate levels of CS, BO and STS. Participants who were older (b = 0.17, 95%CI = 0.08, 0.26), had sufficient perceived income (b = 2.59, 95%CI = 0.93, 4.24), and > 10 years of working experience (b = 2.15, 95%CI = 0.68, 3.62), had higher CS scores. Those who were older (b=-0.15, 95%CI=-0.23, -0.07), had sufficient perceived income (b=-2.64, 95%CI=-4.18, -1.09), > 10 years of experience (b=-1.38, 95%CI=-2.76, -0.01), worked in surgical department (b=-1.46, 95%CI=-2.54, -0.38) and 8 hours/day (b=-1.52, 95%CI=-2.61, -0.44), had lower BO scores. Moreover, those in a relationship (b=-2.27, 95%CI=-3.53, -1.01) and had sufficient perceived income (b=-1.98, 95%CI=-3.64, -0.32) had lower STS scores. CONCLUSIONS: The Vietnamese version of ProQoL is valid and reliable for use among Vietnamese health workers. Age, marital status, perceived income status, years of working experience, daily working hours, and specialty was associated with at least one component of ProQoL but gender, religion, education level, and monthly income were not.

ABSTRACT

This paper studies an advanced machine learning method, specifically few-shot classification with meta-learning, applied to distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) data. The study contributes two key aspects: (i) an investigation of different pre-processing methods for DAS data and (ii) the implementation of a neural network model based on meta-learning to learn a representation of the processed data. In the context of urban infrastructure monitoring, we develop a few-shot classification framework that classifies query samples with only a limited number of support samples. The model consists of an embedding network trained on a meta dataset for feature extraction and is followed by a classifier for performing few-shot classification. This research thoroughly explores three types of data pre-processing, that is, decomposed phase, power spectral density, and frequency energy band, as inputs to the neural network. Experimental results show the efficient learning capabilities of the embedding model when working with various pre-processed data, offering a range of pre-processing options. Furthermore, the results demonstrate outstanding few-shot classification performance across a large number of event classes, highlighting the framework's potential for urban infrastructure monitoring applications.

ABSTRACT

Survival outcomes for relapsed/refractory pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML) remain dismal. Epigenetic changes can result in gene expression alterations which are thought to contribute to both leukemogenesis and chemotherapy resistance. We report results from a phase I trial with a dose expansion cohort investigating decitabine and vorinostat in combination with fludarabine, cytarabine, and G-CSF (FLAG) in pediatric patients with R/R AML [NCT02412475]. Thirty-seven patients enrolled with a median age at enrollment of 8.4 (range, 1-20) years. There were no dose limiting toxicities among the enrolled patients, including two patients with Down syndrome. The recommended phase 2 dose of decitabine in combination with vorinostat and FLAG was 10 mg/m2 . The expanded cohort design allowed for an efficacy evaluation and the overall response rate among 35 evaluable patients was 54% (16 complete response (CR) and 3 complete response with incomplete hematologic recovery (CRi)). Ninety percent of responders achieved minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity (<0.1%) by centralized flow cytometry and 84% (n = 16) successfully proceeded to hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Two-year overall survival was 75.6% [95%CI: 47.3%, 90.1%] for MRD-negative patients vs. 17.9% [95%CI: 4.4%, 38.8%] for those with residual disease (p < .001). Twelve subjects (34%) had known epigenetic alterations with 8 (67%) achieving a CR, 7 (88%) of whom were MRD negative. Correlative pharmacodynamics demonstrated the biologic activity of decitabine and vorinostat and identified specific gene enrichment signatures in nonresponding patients. Overall, this therapy was well-tolerated, biologically active, and effective in pediatric patients with R/R AML, particularly those with epigenetic alterations.

ABSTRACT

Children with relapse of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) or lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) have a dismal prognosis, largely due to difficulty attaining second remission. We hypothesized that adding etoposide and cyclophosphamide to the nucleoside analog nelarabine could improve response rates over single-agent nelarabine for relapsed T-ALL and T-LBL. This phase I dose-escalation trial's primary objective was to evaluate the dose and safety of nelarabine given in combination with etoposide at 100 mg/m2 /day and cyclophosphamide at 330-400 mg/m2 /day, each for 5 consecutive days in children with either T-ALL (13 patients) or T-LBL (10 patients). Twenty-three patients were treated at three dose levels; 21 were evaluable for dose-limiting toxicities (DLT) and response. The recommended phase II doses (RP2D) for this regimen, when given daily ×5 every 3 weeks, were nelarabine 650 mg/m2 /day, etoposide 100 mg/m2 /day, and cyclophosphamide 400 mg/m2 /day. DLTs included peripheral motor and sensory neuropathies. An expansion cohort to evaluate responses at the RP2D was terminated early due to slow accrual. The overall best response rate was 38% (8/21), with 33% (4/12) responses in the T-ALL cohort and 44% (4/9) responses in the T-LBL cohort. These response rates are comparable to those seen with single-agent nelarabine in this setting. These data suggest that the addition of cyclophosphamide and etoposide to nelarabine does not increase the incidence of neurologic toxicities or the response rate beyond that obtained with single-agent nelarabine in children with first relapse of T-ALL and T-LBL.

BACKGROUND: Street food plays a valuable role in several Asian countries including Vietnam. Improving the safety of street food is an important responsibility for many local food authorities. This study aims to characterize the business profile of fixed and mobile street food vendors, and to compare their compliance with the food safety criteria. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire and observational checklist to assess the ten Vietnamese food safety criteria prescribed under Decision No. 3199/2000/QD-BYT for street food vendors in Can Tho city. A total of 400 street food vendors, composed of fixed and mobile vendors, in urban areas of the city were randomly selected for the survey. RESULTS: The study showed significant differences between the two types of street food vendors in educational level (p = 0.017); business profile, including types of foods vended, area in use, number of employees, training in food safety, and business registration paperwork; and the status of compliance with the ten-food hygiene and safety criteria (p < 0.01). Poisson regression analysis found that education attainment (IRR = 1.228, p = 0.015), food safety training (IRR = 4.855, p < 0.01), total business capital (IRR = 1.004, p = 0.031) and total area in use (IRR = 1.007, p = 0.001) appeared to be significantly positively associated with food safety and hygiene compliance. In contrast, mobile vending type was negatively associated with the likelihood of adhering to the ten criteria (IRR = 0.547, p = 0.005). CONCLUSIONS: These findings emphasize the need for training and education programs to improve food safety knowledge and practice among street food vendors. Basic infrastructure and services, especially clean water, proper sanitation, and waste disposal facilities, should be provided to help street food vendors better practice food safety and hygiene regulations.

This paper presents a robust model-based technique to detect multiple faults in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), namely inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) and encoder faults. The proposed model is based on a structural analysis, which uses the dynamic mathematical model of a PMSM in an abc frame to evaluate the system's structural model in matrix form. The just-determined and over-determined parts of the system are separated by a Dulmage-Mendelsohn decomposition tool. Subsequently, the analytical redundant relations obtained using the over-determined part of the system are used to form smaller redundant testable sub-models based on the number of defined fault terms. Furthermore, four structured residuals are designed based on the acquired redundant sub-models to detect measurement faults in the encoder and ITSC faults, which are applied in different levels of each phase winding. The effectiveness of the proposed detection method is validated by an in-house test setup of an inverter-fed PMSM, where ITSC and encoder faults are applied to the system in different time intervals using controllable relays. Finally, a statistical detector, namely a generalized likelihood ratio test algorithm, is implemented in the decision-making diagnostic system resulting in the ability to detect ITSC faults as small as one single short-circuited turn out of 102, i.e., when less than 1% of the PMSM phase winding is short-circuited.

Elevated blood pressure (BP) is a growing burden worldwide, leading to over 10 million deaths each year. May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global initiative to raise awareness of high BP and act as a temporary solution to the lack of screening programmes worldwide. We aimed to screen for hypertension and cardiovascular risk factors in people aged ≥18 years in the community, thereby defining the proportion of subjects with elevated BP and assess the awareness and the effectiveness of its treatment. An opportunistic cross-sectional survey of volunteers aged ≥18 years was carried out in May 2019. Blood pressure measurement, the definition of hypertension and statistical analysis followed the standard MMM protocol. From May 2019 to June 2019, through 10 cities/provinces in Vietnam, 25 887 individuals with mean age 48.7 (SD ±17.7) years were screened. After multiple imputations, 8758 (33.8%) had hypertension. Of individuals not receiving antihypertensive medication, 3025 (15.0%) were hypertensive. Of individuals receiving antihypertensive medication, 2800 (48.8%) had uncontrolled BP. Raised BP [systolic BP (SBP) ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic BP (DBP) ≥90 mmHg] was also associated with additional risk factors including smoking, alcohol intake, previous hypertension in pregnancy, and obesity. May Measurement Month 2019 was the most extensive BP screening campaign ever undertaken in Vietnam. Undiagnosed and uncontrolled hypertension in Vietnam remains a substantial health problem. Local campaigns applying standardized methods such as MMM 2019 will be beneficial to screen for the significant number of individuals with raised BP and increase the awareness of hypertension.

ABSTRACT

Ponatinib has proven to be effective in adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive leukaemias, but data in paediatrics are scarce. Among paediatric patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (n = 9) or acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (n = 12) treated with varying doses of ponatinib in 13 centres, 71% showed a decrease in disease burden after a median of three months. Ponatinib was well tolerated, with grade 3 toxicities occurring in 29% of patients. Toxicities were similar to those reported in adults, with the exception of arterial thrombotic events, which were not observed. Ponatinib has a favourable safety profile in this paediatric cohort, but dose-finding studies are needed.

ABSTRACT

SIGNIFICANCE: The Catquest-9 Short Form (SF) has good psychometric properties but was not available in Vietnamese. This study provides the Vietnamese Catquest-9SF and evidence supporting for its use in hospital settings along with clinical assessment to evaluate visual function. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Vietnamese Catquest-9SF. METHODS: Literate patients with unilateral/bilateral cataract, without severe systemic and ocular comorbidities, aged 50+ years, and scheduled for first-eye surgery were screened and recruited at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City and Trung Vuong Hospital. Age, sex, and education were self-reported. The Catquest-9SF and the 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire were used to assess vision-related quality of life (VRQOL). Best-corrected unilateral and bilateral log of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) visual acuity was measured, as was best-corrected Pelli-Robson contrast sensitivity. Rasch analysis was performed on the Vietnamese version of the Catquest-9SF. Criterion validity and convergent validity were also evaluated. RESULTS: Andrich thresholds and response categories on each Catquest-9SF item were ordered, indicating that patients were able to discriminate VRQOL levels. Person separation index and reliability were 2.51 and 0.86, respectively, indicating that the Catquest-9SF was able to distinguish between patients with low- and high-vision difficulties. The tool was unidimensional, with all items fitting well within the construct. There was no evidence of differential item functioning by sex, age group, or cataract status. The tool also showed criterion validity, correlating significantly with visual acuity in the better eye (r = -0.46), the worse eye (r = -0.39), and both eyes (r = -0.44), and with contrast sensitivity for the better eye (r = 0.41), the worse eye (r = 0.32), and both eyes (r = 0.39). A strong correlation between the Catquest-9SF and the 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (r = 0.87) indicated convergent validity. CONCLUSIONS: The Vietnamese Catquest-9SF is valid and psychometrically robust for assessing VRQOL among cataract patients.

BACKGROUND: Incivility has been identified as a common occurrence in health care settings. While anecdotal evidence exists that these behaviors negatively impact patient care, more robust evidence is lacking. PURPOSE: This randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of exposure to incivility on clinical performance, teamwork, and emotions. METHODS: Teams of nurses were randomly assigned to a control or experimental group. The experimental group was exposed to incivility. Both groups were then prompted to perform basic life support on a high-fidelity manikin. Teams were scored on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performance and teamwork. Individuals completed measures of affect and a cognitive test. RESULTS: There were no differences in CPR, cognitive or teamwork scores, or emotional state. However, 66% of the experimental group had a major error in their CPR performance. None of the control groups made the same error. CONCLUSIONS: These findings support anecdotal evidence that exposure to incivility may contribute to errors in clinical performance.

ABSTRACT

This study investigated correlates of quality of life (QOL) among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) at An Hoa Clinic, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Inclusive criteria were PLWH ≥18 years old, under antiretroviral therapy (ART) for ≥3 months, and consent to participate. PLWH who were illiterate, too ill, or at the final stage of AIDS were excluded. QOL was assessed using WHOQOL-BREF-HIV. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. For every point increased in depression score, QOL decreased 0.13 points in Physical (p < .001), 0.12 points in Psychological and Social Relationships (p < .001), 0.07 points in Level of Independence (p < .001), 0.09 points in Environment (p < .001), and 0.15 points in Personal Beliefs domain (p < .001). PLWH from an economically disadvantaged household had lower QOL scores for all QOL domains but Personal Beliefs with differences ranging from 0.81 points for Social Relationships to 1.77 points for Environment domain. PLWH with a co-morbidity had lower scores whereas those living with a spouse and adhering to ART medication had higher scores in at least one QOL domain. In conclusion, depressive symptoms, household economy, living with a spouse, having a co-morbidity and ART medication adherence were important factors associated with PLWH's QOL.

ABSTRACT

Thanks to the benefits of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in wireless communications, we evaluate a wireless sensor network deploying NOMA (WSN-NOMA), where the destination can receive two data symbols in a whole transmission process with two time slots. In this work, two relaying protocols, so-called time-switching-based relaying WSN-NOMA (TSR WSN-NOMA) and power-splitting-based relaying WSN-NOMA (PSR WSN-NOMA) are deployed to study energy-harvesting (EH). Regarding the system performance analysis, we obtain the closed-form expressions for the exact and approximate outage probability (OP) in both protocols, and the delay-limited throughput is also evaluated. We then compare the two protocols theoretically, and two optimization problems are formulated to reduce the impact of OP and optimize the data rate. Our numerical and simulation results are provided to prove the theoretical and analytical analysis. Thanks to these results, a great performance gain can be achieved for both TSR WSN-NOMA and PSR WSN-NOMA if optimal values of TS and PS ratios are found. In addition, the optimized TSR WSN-NOMA outperforms that of PSR WSN-NOMA in terms of OP.

ABSTRACT

A map without equilibrium has been proposed and studied in this paper. The proposed map has no fixed point and exhibits chaos. We have investigated its dynamics and shown its chaotic behavior using tools such as return map, bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponents' diagram. Entropy of this new map has been calculated. Using an open micro-controller platform, the map is implemented, and experimental observation is presented. In addition, two control schemes have been proposed to stabilize and synchronize the chaotic map.
