ABSTRACT

Phase transformation offers an alternative strategy for the synthesis of nanomaterials with unconventional phases, allowing us to further explore their unique properties and promising applications. Herein, we first observed the amorphization of Pt nanoparticles on the RuO2 surface by in situ scanning transmission electron microscopy. Density functional theory calculations demonstrate the low energy barrier and thermodynamic driving force for Pt atoms transferring from the Pt cluster to the RuO2 surface to form amorphous Pt. Remarkably, the as-synthesized amorphous Pt/RuO2 exhibits 14.2 times enhanced mass activity compared to commercial RuO2 catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Water electrolyzer with amorphous Pt/RuO2 achieves 1.0 A cm-2 at 1.70 V and remains stable at 200 mA cm-2 for over 80 h. The amorphous Pt layer not only optimized the *O binding but also enhanced the antioxidation ability of amorphous Pt/RuO2, thereby boosting the activity and stability for the OER.

ABSTRACT

Constructing the pore structures in amorphous metal oxide nanosheets can enhance their electrocatalytic performance by efficiently increasing specific surface areas and facilitating mass transport in electrocatalysis. However, the accurate synthesis for porous amorphous metal oxide nanosheets remains a challenge. Herein, a facile nitrate-assisted oxidation strategy is reported for synthesizing amorphous mesoporous iridium oxide nanomeshes (a-m IrOx NMs) with a pore size of ∼4 nm. X-ray absorption characterizations indicate that a-m IrOx NMs possess stretched Ir─O bonds and weaker Ir-O interaction compared with commercial IrO2. Combining thermogravimetric-fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with differential scanning calorimetry measurements, it is demonstrated that sodium nitrate, acting as an oxidizing agent, is conducive to the formation of amorphous nanosheets, while the NO2 produced by the in situ decomposition of nitrates facilitates the generation of pores within the nanomeshes. As an anode electrocatalyst in proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer, a-m IrOx NMs exhibit superior performance, maintaining a cell voltage of 1.67 V at 1 A cm-2 for 120 h without obvious decay with a low loading (0.4 mgcatalyst cm-2). Furthermore, the nitrate-assisted method is demonstrated to be a general approach to prepare various amorphous metal oxide nanomeshes, including amorphous RhOx, TiOx, ZrOx, AlOx, and HfOx nanomeshes.

ABSTRACT

Therapeutic vaccines containing aluminum adjuvants have been widely used in the treatment of tumors due to their powerful immune-enhancing effects. However, the neurotoxicity of aluminum adjuvants with different physicochemical properties has not been completely elucidated. In this study, a library of engineered aluminum oxyhydroxide (EAO) and aluminum hydroxyphosphate (EAHP) nanoparticles was synthesized to determine their neurotoxicity in vitro. It was demonstrated that the surface charge of EAHPs and size of EAOs did not affect the cytotoxicity in N9, bEnd.3, and HT22 cells; however, soluble aluminum ions trigger the cytotoxicity in three different cell lines. Moreover, soluble aluminum ions induce apoptosis in N9 cells, and further mechanistic studies demonstrated that this apoptosis was mediated by mitochondrial reactive oxygen species generation and mitochondrial membrane potential loss. This study identifies the safety profile of aluminum-containing salts adjuvants in the nervous system during therapeutic vaccine use, and provides novel design strategies for their safer applications. SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: In this study, it was demonstrated that engineered aluminum oxyhydroxide and aluminum hydroxyphosphate nanoparticles did not induce cytotoxicity in N9, bEnd.3, and HT22 cells. In comparation, soluble aluminum ions triggered significant cytotoxicity in three different cell lines, indicating that the form in which aluminum is presenting may play a crucial role in its safety. Moreover, apoptosis induced by soluble aluminum ions was dependent on mitochondrial damage. This study confirms the safety of engineered aluminum adjuvants in vaccine formulations.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Severe deterioration in mental health and disrupted care provision during the COVID-19 increased unmet needs for mental health. This review aimed to identify changes in mental health services for patients in response to the pandemic and understand the impact of the changes on patients and providers. METHODS: Following the Cochrane guidance for rapid reviews, Cochrane CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase and PsycInfo were searched for empirical studies that investigated models of care, services, initiatives or programmes developed/evolved for patients receiving mental health care during COVID-19, published in English and undertaken in high-income countries. Thematic analysis was conducted to describe the changes and an effect direction plot was used to show impact on outcomes. RESULTS: 33 of 6969 records identified were included reporting on patients' experiences (n = 24), care providers' experiences (n = 7) and mixed of both (n = 2). Changes reported included technology-based care delivery, accessibility, flexibility, remote diagnostics and evaluation, privacy, safety and operating hours of service provision. These changes had impacts on: (1) care access; (2) satisfaction with telehealth; (3) comparability of telehealth with face-to-face care; (4) treatment effectiveness; (5) continuity of care; (6) relationships between patients and care providers; (7) remote detection and diagnostics in patients; (8) privacy; (9) treatment length and (10) work-life balance. CONCLUSIONS: A shift to telecommunication technologies had a significant impact on patients and care providers' experiences of mental health care. Improvements to care access, flexibility, remote forms of care delivery and lengths of operating service hours emerged as crucial changes, which supported accessibility to mental health services, increased attendance and reduced dropouts from care. The relationships between patients and care providers were influenced by service changes and were vastly depending on technological literacy and context of patients and availability and care access ranging from regular contact to a loss of in-person contact. The review also identified an increase in care inequality and a feeling of being disconnected among marginalised groups including homeless people, veterans and ethic minority groups. Telehealth in mental care could be a viable alternative to face-to-face service delivery with effective treatment outcomes. Further research is needed to better understand the impact of the changes identified particularly on underserved populations.

ABSTRACT

Adjuvants have been extensively and essentially formulated in subunits and certain inactivated vaccines for enhancing and prolonging protective immunity against infections and diseases. According to the types of infectious diseases and the required immunity, adjuvants with various acting mechanisms have been designed and applied in human vaccines. In this chapter, we introduce the advances in vaccine adjuvants based on nanomaterials and small molecules. By reviewing the immune mechanisms induced by adjuvants with different characteristics, we aim to establish structure-activity relationships between the physicochemical properties of adjuvants and their immunostimulating capability for the development of adjuvants for more effective preventative and therapeutic vaccines.

ABSTRACT

Surface water plays a crucial role in the ecological environment and societal development. Remote sensing detection serves as a significant approach to understand the temporal and spatial change in surface water series (SWS) and to directly construct long-term SWS. Limited by various factors such as cloud, cloud shadow, and problematic satellite sensor monitoring, the existent surface water mapping datasets might be short and incomplete due to losing raw information on certain dates. Improved algorithms are desired to increase the completeness and quality of SWS datasets. The present study proposes an automated framework to detect SWS, based on the Google Earth Engine and Landsat satellite imagery. This framework incorporates implementing a raw image filtering algorithm to increase available images, thereby expanding the completeness. It improves OTSU thresholding by replacing anomaly thresholds with the median value, thus enhancing the accuracy of SWS datasets. Gaps caused by Landsat7 ETM + SLC-off are respired with the random forest algorithm and morphological operations. The results show that this novel framework effectively expands the long-term series of SWS for three surface water bodies with distinct geomorphological patterns. The evaluation of confusion matrices suggests the good performance of extracting surface water, with the overall accuracy ranging from 0.96 to 0.97, and user's accuracy between 0.96 and 0.98, producer's accuracy ranging from 0.83 to 0.89, and Matthews correlation coefficient ranging from 0.87 to 0.9 for several spectral water indices (NDWI, MNDWI, ANNDWI, and AWEI). Compared with the Global Reservoirs Surface Area Dynamics (GRSAD) dataset, our constructed datasets promote greater completeness of SWS datasets by 27.01%-91.89% for the selected water bodies. The proposed framework for detecting SWS shows good potential in enlarging and completing long-term global-scale SWS datasets, capable of supporting assessments of surface-water-related environmental management and disaster prevention.

BACKGROUND: The intestine is a barrier resisting various stress responses. Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) can cause damage to the intestinal barrier via destroying the balance of intestinal epithelial cells' proliferation and apoptosis. Bacillus subtilis has been reported to regulate intestinal epithelial cells' proliferation and apoptosis. Thus, the purpose of this study was to determine if B. subtilis could regulate intestinal epithelial cells' proliferation and apoptosis in intrauterine growth restriction suckling piglets. RESULTS: Compared with the normal birth weight group, the IUGR group showed greater mean optical density values of Ki-67-positive cells in the ileal crypt (P < 0.05). IUGR resulted in higher ability of proliferation and apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells, by upregulation of the messenger RNA (mRNA) or proteins expression of leucine rich repeat containing G protein coupled receptor 5, Caspase-3, Caspase-7, ß-catenin, cyclinD1, B-cell lymphoma-2 associated agonist of cell death, and BCL2 associated X (P < 0.05), and downregulation of the mRNA or protein expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 and B-cell lymphoma-2-like 1 (P < 0.05). However, B. subtilis supplementation decreased the mRNA or proteins expression of leucine rich repeat containing G protein coupled receptor 5, SPARC related modular calcium binding 2, tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 19, cyclinD1, Caspase-7, ß-catenin, B-cell lymphoma-2 associated agonist of cell death, and Caspase-3 (P < 0.05), and increased the mRNA expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: IUGR led to excessive apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells, which induced compensatory proliferation. However, B. subtilis treatment prevented intestinal epithelial cells of IUGR suckling piglets from excessive apoptosis. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

ABSTRACT

Few-atom metal clusters (FAMCs) exhibit superior performance in catalyzing complex molecular transformations due to their special spatial environments and electronic states, compared to single-atom catalysts (SACs). However, achieving the efficient and accurate synthesis of FAMCs while avoiding the formation of other species, such as nanoparticles and SACs, still remains challenges. Herein, we report a two-step strategy for synthesis of few-atom platinum (Pt) clusters by predeposition of zinc single-atom-glue (Zn1) on MgO nanosheets (Ptn-Zn1/MgO), where FAMCs can be obtained over a wide range of Pt contents (0.09 to 1.45 wt %). Zn atoms can act as Lewis acidic sites to allow electron transfer between Zn and Pt through bridging O atoms, which play a crucial role in the formation and stabilization of few-atom Pt clusters. Ptn-Zn1/MgO exhibited a high selectivity of 93 % for anti-Markovnikov alkene hydrosilylation. Moreover, an excellent activity with a turnover frequency of up to 1.6×104 h-1 can be achieved, exceeding most of the reported Pt SACs. Further theoretical studies revealed that the Pt atoms in Ptn-Zn1/MgO possess moderate steric hindrance, which enables high selectivity and activity for hydrosilylation. This work presents some guidelines for utilizing atomic-scale species to increase the synthesis efficiency and precision of FAMCs.

ABSTRACT

Systemic immune activation and excessive inflammatory response, induced by intestinal barrier damage, are the major characteristics of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Excessive apoptotic cell accumulation leads to the production of a large number of inflammatory factors, further aggravating IBD development. Gene set enrichment analysis data showed that the homodimeric erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) was highly expressed in the whole blood of patients with IBD. EPOR is specifically expressed in intestinal macrophages. However, the role of EPOR in IBD development is unclear. In this study, we found that EPOR activation significantly alleviated colitis in mice. Furthermore, in vitro, EPOR activation in bone marrow-derived macrophage (BMDMs) promoted microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B) activation and mediated the clearance of apoptotic cells. Moreover, our data showed that EPOR activation facilitated the expression of phagocytosis- and tissue-repair-related factors. Our findings suggest that EPOR activation in macrophages promotes apoptotic cell clearance, probably via LC3B-associated phagocytosis (LAP), providing a new mechanism for understanding pathological progression and a novel potential therapeutic target for colitis.

INTRODUCTION: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has shown significant health inequalities for people with low socioeconomic status associated with more risk factors. This review was to synthesize interventions that targeted CVD risks and outcomes among socioeconomically disadvantaged populations and to understand the impact associated with these interventions. SOURCES OF DATA: Cochrane CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO and CINAHL were searched for records published in the last decade using a systematic search strategy, complemented by screening the reference lists and citation indexes. Nineteen studies were included and a narrative synthesis with the effect direction plot was undertaken in which studies, interventions, participants and outcomes were examined according to the intervention type focusing on behaviours, lifestyle, education, medication and monitoring. AREAS OF AGREEMENT: No universal definition of disadvantaged socioeconomic status was used with common factors relating to racial/ethnic minorities, low income and low or no health insurance. Mixed effects of interventions were reported on clinical outcomes including weight, body mass index, blood pressure, glycated haemoglobin and cholesterol. AREAS OF CONTROVERSY: Inconsistent effect was reported due to a large variety of settings, participants and intervention components although they are considered necessary to address the complex health needs of socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. GROWING POINTS: There is inadequate evidence to determine whether any of the intervention types are effective in optimising lipids management for socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. AREAS TIMELY FOR DEVELOPING RESEARCH: Research is needed with mixed evidence using real world evaluation and lived experience combined with health economic evaluation, on both mental and physical health outcomes.

Previous studies have investigated the prognostic value of the advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI) in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers; however, the results are controversial. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prognostic and clinicopathological role of ALI in patients with GI cancers. A systematic search of electronic databases was conducted to evaluate the prognostic and clinicopathological value of ALI in GI cancers. Nine studies comprising 3,750 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that a low ALI was significantly associated with worse overall survival (OS, hazard ratio [HR] = 1.95, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.53-2.47, P < 0.001, I2 = 63.9%) and disease-free survival/relapse-free survival (DFS/RFS, HR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.28-1.73, P < 0.001, I2 = 0%) in patients with GI cancers. In addition, decreased ALI correlated with the depth of tumor invasion and presence of distant metastasis and tended to be associated with male sex, high carcinoembryonic antigen levels, lymph node metastasis, and right-sided colon cancer. Low ALI was associated with adverse OS and DFS/RFS in patients with GI cancer. In addition, decreased ALI also correlated with clinicopathological factors, indicating higher stage of the malignancy.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Organ failure (OF) largely governs the outcomes and mortality in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP), but there is a lack of optimal prognostic biomarker for OF. This study is designed to investigate whether the serum apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I) level can predict OF in patients with AP. METHODS: A total of 424 patients with AP were reviewed in the study, and we finally got 228 patients eligible for analysis. Patients were divided into two groups based on serum Apo A-I level. Demographic information and clinical materials were retrospectively collected. The primary outcome was the occurrence of OF. Univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression were conducted to analyze the relationship between Apo A-I and OF. Additionally, we used receiver operating characteristic analysis to clarify the predictive value of serum Apo A-I level for OF and mortality. RESULTS: Ninety-two patients and 136 patients were included in Apo A-I low and non-low groups, respectively. The occurrence of OF was significantly different in the two groups (35.9 vs. 9.6%, p < 0.001). Moreover, serum Apo A-I level markedly decreased across disease severity based on the 2012 Revised Atlanta Classification of AP. The decrease of serum apolipoprotein A-I was an independent risk factor for organ failure (OR: 6.216, 95% CI: 2.610, 14.806, p < 0.001). The area under the curve of serum Apo A-I was 0.828 and 0.889 for OF and mortality of AP, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Serum Apo A-I level in the early stage of the disease has a high predictive value for OF of AP.

BACKGROUND: China has a high mortality from nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The NPC mortality trends in China from 2006 to 2020 were described and analyzed to understand its epidemiological characteristics by region and sex and to explore age, period, and cohort effects. METHODS: This study utilized NPC mortality data from the China Health Statistical Yearbook. A joinpoint regression model was used to fit the standardized NPC mortality and age-specific mortality. The age-period-cohort model was applied to investigate age, period, and cohort effects on NPC mortality risk. RESULTS: The results showed that the NPC mortality rate in China has been declining steadily. From 2006 to 2020, the standardized NPC mortality rate in most age groups showed a significant downward trend. The annual percentage change was smaller in rural areas than in urban areas. The mortality risks of rural males and rural females from 2016 to 2020 were 1.139 times and 1.080 times those from 2011 to 2015, respectively. Both urban males born in 1984-1988 and rural males born in 1979-1983 exhibited an increasing trend in NPC mortality risk. CONCLUSIONS: Our study confirmed the effectiveness of NPC prevention and treatment strategies in China from 2006 to 2020. However, it underscored the urgent need for targeted interventions in rural areas to further reduce NPC mortality rates.

BACKGROUND: Dual-task training has been a popular intervention for individuals with balance impairments. However, the effects of dual-task training on chronic ankle instability (CAI) have not been comprehensively analyzed and reliable clinical evidence is scarce. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the effectiveness of dual-task training on postural stability and functional ability in individuals with CAI. METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, Cochrane Library, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were researched from inception to November 2022. This study was conducted by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Two reviewers assessed the studies for inclusion and extracted data. The Cochrane Risk of Bias list was used to assess the risk of bias in included studies. Mean differences (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated with the RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS: A total of 7 randomized controlled trials with 192 CAI met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis results showed that compared with the control group, dual-task training significantly improved the Y-balance test (MD = 1.60, 95% CI: -0.00 to 3.21, P = 0.050) and reduced COP-area (MD = - 0.94, 95% CI: -1.62 to - 0.26, P = 0.007) in individuals with CAI. However, there is no significant difference between dual-task training and the control group on COP-velocity (MD = - 0.26, 95% CI: -0.70 to 0.17, P = 0.240), hop test (MD = - 0.20, 95% CI: -0.66 to 0.26, P = 0.386) and BESS (MD = - 1.24, 95% CI: -2.95 to 0.48, P = 0.157) in individuals with CAI. CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis showed that dual-task training may be effective in improving static and dynamic postural stability. However, more high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to verify the short and long-term effectiveness of dual-task training on CAI.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Frozen shoulder (FS) is characterized by pain and significant loss of active and passive shoulder motion. Strengthening exercises are among the standard exercises used for FS. Neuromuscular exercise (NME) effectively improved pain and the range of motion in shoulder. However, no prior research has looked into the effects of NME compared to strengthening exercises in FS rehabilitation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of NME compared to strengthening exercises on pain and active range of motion (AROM) in individuals with idiopathic frozen shoulder. METHODS: Forty individuals with idiopathic frozen shoulder were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (NME with regular physical therapy, n = 20) or the control group (strengthening exercises with regular physical therapy, n = 20). In both groups, the interventions were performed once a day, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. Pain scores on the visual analogue scale (VAS) and AROM of the shoulder were assessed at baseline and after the 8-week treatment. The primary analysis was the group × time interaction. RESULTS: Two-by-two mixed analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed a significant group × time interaction for VAS (F = 29.67; p < 0.01); AROM in flexion (F = 12.05; p < 0.01), internal rotation (F = 6.62; p < 0.05) and external rotation (F = 16.93; p < 0.01) in favor of the experimental group. The two-by-two mixed ANOVA revealed a significant main effect of time for VAS (F = 1648.47; p < 0.01); AROM in flexion (F = 591.70; p < 0.01), extension (F = 114.57; p < 0.01), abduction (F = 1602.04; p < 0.01), internal rotation (F = 664.14; p < 0.01) and external rotation (F = 1096.92; p < 0.01). No other significant differences were found. CONCLUSIONS: NME is superior to strengthening exercises in terms of pain and AROM of shoulder flexion, internal rotation and external rotation in individuals with idiopathic FS. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: About 15-60% of individuals with ankle sprains may develop functional ankle instability (FAI), which is characterised by ankle pain, decreased muscle strength, limited range of motion, and impaired balance, causing a decline in social activity and quality of life. However, the relationship between those characters is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether a relationship existed between ankle pain, active range of motion (AROM), strength and balance and if ankle pain, AROM and strength can predict balance in individuals with FAI. METHODS: Seventy-seven subjects (46 males; 31 females) with unilateral FAI participated in this study. Ankle pain was measured by the visual analogue scale (VAS), ankle AROM was measured using a universal goniometer, ankle strength was measured using a handheld dynamometer, the static balance was measured by the Time in Balance Test (TBT) and the dynamic balance was measured by the modified Star Excursion Balance Test (mSEBT). Pearson product-moment correlations were used to determine the correlations between ankle pain, AROM, strength and balance. Multiple linear regressions were used to investigate if ankle pain, AROM and strength can predict balance in individuals with FAI. RESULTS: VAS and AROM-plantarflexion predicted 25.6% of the TBT (f2 = 0.344, P < 0.001). AROM-dorsiflexion predicted 24.6% of the mSEBT-anterior reach (f2 = 0.326, P < 0.001). VAS, AROM-plantarflexion and strength-plantarflexion predicted 33.5% of the mSEBT-posteromedial reach (f2 = 0.504, P < 0.001). AROM-plantarflexion and strength-plantarflexion predicted 28.2% of the mSEBT-posterolateral reach (f2 = 0.393, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: This study shows that ankle plantarflexion strength, AROM of dorsiflexion and plantarflexion and pain are predictors of balance in individuals with FAI. These factors could be considered in the rehabilitation of FAI. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Trial registration number: ChiCTR2200063532.

ABSTRACT

A new abietane diterpenoid, 1ß, 11-epoxyabieta-12-hydroxy-8, 11, 13-triene-7-one (1), along with three known compounds (2-4), was isolated from Lycopodium complanatum. Their structures were confirmed by the analysis of 1D, 2D NMR and HRESIMS data, and comparison with previous spectral data. All compounds were tested for inhibitory activities against A549, HepG2 and MCF-7 tumor cell lines. [Figure: see text].

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) with Medigus Ultrasonic Surgical Endostapler (MUSE) for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). METHODS: A total of 16 patients with proton pump inhibitor-dependent gastroesophageal reflux disease had undergone TIF by MUSE in Shanghai General Hospital (Shanghai, China)from March 2017 to December 2018. Patients were followed up at 6 months, and the GERD-health-related quality of life (GERD-HRQL) questionnaire score, the GERD questionnaire (GERD-Q) score, high-resolution esophageal manometry (HREM) and 24 h esophageal pH parameters, the Hill grade of the gastroesophageal flap valve (GEFV) and daily Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) consumption before and after procedure were compared. Patients also were followed up at 3 years and 5 years using a structured questionnaire via phone which evaluated symptoms of reflux, dose of PPI medication and side effects. RESULTS: Follow-up data were collected from 13 patients, ranging from 38 to 63 months, 53 months on average. 10/13 patients reported symptomatic improvement and daily PPI consumption was stopped or halved in 11/13. After procedure, the mean scores of GERD-HRQL and GERD-Q were significantly increased. The mean DeMeester score, the mean acid exposure time percentage and the mean number of acid reflux episodes were significantly lower. The mean rest pressure at lower esophageal sphincter (LES) had no significant difference. CONCLUSION: TIF by MUSE has significant efficacy in the treatment of PPI-dependent GERD, which can improve symptoms and life quality of patients, and reduce the acid exposure time for long-term. ABSTRACT

Water electrolysis for H2 production is restricted by the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Using the thermodynamically more favorable hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) to replace OER has attracted ever-growing attention. Herein, we report a twisted NiCoP nanowire array immobilized with Ru single atoms (Ru1 -NiCoP) as superior bifunctional electrocatalyst toward both HzOR and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), realizing an ultralow working potential of -60 mV and overpotential of 32 mV for a current density of 10 mA cm-2 , respectively. Inspiringly, two-electrode electrolyzer based on overall hydrazine splitting (OHzS) demonstrates outstanding activity with a record-high current density of 522 mA cm-2 at cell voltage of 0.3 V. DFT calculations elucidate the cooperative Ni(Co)-Ru-P sites in Ru1 -NiCoP optimize H* adsorption, and enhance adsorption of *N2 H2 to significantly lower the energy barrier for hydrazine dehydrogenation. Moreover, a self-powered H2 production system utilizing OHzS device driven by direct hydrazine fuel cell (DHzFC) achieve a satisfactory rate of 24.0 mol h-1 m-2 .

Recently, increasing numbers of non-coding RNA have been uncovered in research. As a new class of non-coding RNA, circular RNA has been identified to be involved in various diseases including many cancers. The circular RNA ciRS-7 is reported to play critical roles in tumorigenesis. However, the role of ciRS-7 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the expression and function of ciRS-7 in HCC cells and cancer tissues. CCK8 was applied to detect the influence of ciRS-7 on proliferation. Wound heal assay and invasion assay were used to identify the effects on migration and invasion. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), Western blot, RNA pull-down, and luciferase reporter assay were used to investigate the downstream targets of ciRS-7. The results showed that ciRS-7 was highly expressed in both hepatocellular carcinoma cells and tissues. Overexpression of ciRS-7 could promote the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC. Further study showed that ciRS-7 regulated the miR-944 level through acting as a microRNA sponge. q-RT-PCR, Western blot, RNA pull-down and dual luciferase activity assays showed that miR-944 targeted and regulated the expression of NOX4. Furthermore, the tumor-promoting effect of ciRS-7 could be blocked by inhibition of miR-944/NOX4. Our study demonstrated that ciRS-7 enhanced the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC through miR-944/NOX4 pathway. ciRS-7 could be a promising therapeutic target for HCC.
