ABSTRACT

Long interspersed element-1 (LINE-1 or L1) comprises 17% of the human genome, continuously generates genetic variations, and causes disease in certain cases. However, the regulation and function of L1 remain poorly understood. Here, we uncover that L1 can enrich RNA polymerase IIs (RNA Pol IIs), express L1 chimeric transcripts, and create contact domain boundaries in human cells. This impact of L1 is restricted by a nuclear matrix protein scaffold attachment factor B (SAFB) that recognizes transcriptionally active L1s by binding L1 transcripts to inhibit RNA Pol II enrichment. Acute inhibition of RNA Pol II transcription abolishes the domain boundaries associated with L1 chimeric transcripts, indicating a transcription-dependent mechanism. Deleting L1 impairs domain boundary formation, and L1 insertions during evolution have introduced species-specific domain boundaries. Our data show that L1 can create RNA Pol II-enriched regions that alter genome organization and that SAFB regulates L1 and RNA Pol II activity to preserve gene regulation.

ABSTRACT

Allergen-crosslinked IgE triggers allergy by interacting with its receptor on basophils and mast cells. The anti-IgE monoclonal antibody omalizumab can alleviate allergy by competing with the receptor for IgE binding. However, along with neutralization, omalizumab also inhibits IgE degradation, which is clinically associated with high dose and total IgE accumulation problems. In this study, we have developed an IgE-eliminating antibody on the basis of omalizumab, which has pH-dependent Fabs and an Fc with high affinity for FcγRIIb. In mice, the antibody rapidly eliminated total serum IgE to baseline levels and caused lower free IgE levels than omalizumab. At low dosages, the antibody also exhibited favorable IgE elimination effects. In addition, the antibody can degrade the corresponding allergen with the removal of IgE, addressing the allergy from its source. Introduction of the M252Y/S254T/T256E (YTE) mutation into this antibody prolongs its serum half-life without reducing potency. Thus, this engineered antibody holds a promising therapeutic option for allergy patients. Mechanistic insights are also included in this study.

ABSTRACT

As one of the most important transcription factors regulating plant anthocyanin biosynthesis, MYB has attracted great attentions. In this study, we identified fifteen candidate anthocyanin biosynthesis related MYB (ABRM) proteins, including twelve R2R3-MYBs and three 1R-MYBs, from highbush blueberry. The subcellular localization prediction results showed that, with the exception of VcRVE8 (localized in chloroplast and nucleus), all of the blueberry ABRMs were nucleus-localized. The gene structure analysis revealed that the exon numbers of the blueberry ABRM genes varied greatly, ranging between one and eight. There are many light-responsive, phytohormone-responsive, abiotic stress-responsive and plant growth and development related cis-acting elements in the promoters of the blueberry ABRM genes. It is noteworthy that almost all of their promoters contain light-, ABA- and MeJA-responsive elements, which is consistent with the well-established results that anthocyanin accumulation and the expression of MYBs are influenced significantly by many factors, such as light, ABA and JA. The gene expression analysis revealed that VcMYB, VcMYB6, VcMYB23, VcMYBL2 and VcPH4 are expressed abundantly in blueberry fruits, and VcMYB is expressed the highest in the red, purple and blue fruits among all blueberry ABRMs. VcMYB shared high similarity with functionally proven ABRMs from many other plant species. The gene cloning results showed that VcMYB had three variable transcripts, but only the transient overexpression of VcMYB-1 promoted anthocyanin accumulation in the green fruits. Our study can provide a basis for future research on the anthocyanin biosynthesis related MYBs in blueberry.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To investigate the benefits of surgery alone and postoperative chemotherapy in elderly and non-elderly patients with appendiceal mixed neuroendocrine non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNENs) and analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of patients with MiNEN of the appendix. METHODS: Based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (SEER) of the National Cancer Institute of the USA, 389 patients with appendiceal MiNENs from 2000 to 2016 were collected. All patients were distributed in the elderly group (≥ 60 years old) and the non-elderly group (< 60 years old) according to their age. The prognosis of the two groups of patients who received simple surgery and postoperative chemotherapy was analyzed and compared. The two treatment methods of the two tranches were matched by propensity score matching method. The effect of different treatment ways on the prognosis of sick persons was compared. The survivorship curves were painted by the Kaplan Meier method, log rank test was used to analyze the subsistence discrepancy of each group, and COX proportional risk model was used to analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of patients with appendiceal MiNENs. RESULTS: No matter the overall survival rate (OS) or cancer-specific mortality (CSM) of the two treatment schemes, the prognosis of patients in the only surgery group was meaningfully higher than that in the postoperative chemotherapy group, with statistically significant difference in component comparison (χ2 = 16.496, χ2 = 16.860, P < 0.001). After propensity score matching of patients in each group, there was no striking discrepancy in the OS of patients in the only surgery group compared with those in the postoperative chemotherapy group, regardless of whether they were elderly patients or non-elderly patients (χ2 = 3.205, χ2 = 1.521, all P > 0.05), the CSM consequences are fitting in with the OS. The consequences of the multivariate COX regression model showed that age (≥ 60 years old), sex (female), high histological grade, and lymph node positive were all the influencing factors for the poor OS of patients with MiNEN; the CSM results are consistent with the OS. CONCLUSION: For patients with appendix MiNEN, whether elderly or non-elderly patients (especially for non-elderly patients), surgical treatment may be a better choice.

ABSTRACT

Chalcone synthase (CHS) is the first key enzyme-catalyzing plant flavonoid biosynthesis. Until now, however, the blueberry CHS gene family has not been systematically characterized and studied. In this study, we identified 22 CHS genes that could be further classified into four subfamilies from the highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) genome. This classification was well supported by the high nucleotide and protein sequence similarities and similar gene structure and conserved motifs among VcCHS members from the same subfamily. Gene duplication analysis revealed that the expansion of the blueberry CHS gene family was mainly caused by segmental duplications. Promoter analysis revealed that the promoter regions of VcCHSs contained numerous cis-acting elements responsive to light, phytohormone and stress, along with binding sites for 36 different types of transcription factors. Gene expression analysis revealed that Subfamily I VcCHSs highly expressed in fruits at late ripening stages. Through transient overexpression, we found that three VcCHSs (VcCHS13 from subfamily II; VcCHS8 and VcCHS21 from subfamily I) could significantly enhance the anthocyanin accumulation and up-regulate the expression of flavonoid biosynthetic structural genes in blueberry leaves and apple fruits. Notably, the promoting effect of the Subfamily I member VcCHS21 was the best. The promoter of VcCHS21 contains a G-box (CACGTG) and an E-box sequence, as well as a bHLH binding site. A yeast one hybridization (Y1H) assay revealed that three anthocyanin biosynthesis regulatory bHLHs (VcAN1, VcbHLH1-1 and VcbHLH1-2) could specifically bind to the G-box sequence (CACGTG) in the VcCHS21 promoter, indicating that the expression of VcCHS21 was regulated by bHLHs. Our study will be helpful for understanding the characteristics and functions of blueberry CHSs.

BACKGROUND: Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious complication of pregnancy, with a global incidence of about 2%-8%. It is one of the important causes of morbidity and mortality among the pregnant women and perinatal infants. Circular RNA (circRNA) has been confirmed to play an important regulatory role in PE. This study aimed to evaluate the role of hsa_circ_0008726 in the occurrence and development of PE. METHODS: The expression of hsa_circ_0008726 in PE placental tissue and blood was detected by qRT-PCR. CCK-8, wound closure, and Transwell assay were used to measure cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Bioinformatics prediction, Western blotting, and dual-luciferase reporter gene detection were used to explore the mechanism of hsa_circ_0008726 in HTR8/SVneo cells. RESULTS: The expression level of circ_0008726 in the placental tissue and blood samples of PE patients was significantly higher than that of normal controls. The overexpression of circ_0008726 can significantly inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion ability of HTR-8/SVneo cells. While the silence of circ_0008726 showed an opposite effect. Furthermore, hsa_circ_0008726 can modulate the expression of LHX6 by adsorbing miR-1290. CONCLUSION: Hsa_circ_000872 can regulate LHX6 by adsorbing miR-1290 to inhibit PE progression, thus establishing hsa_circ_000872 as a potential target for predicting and treating PE.

The citrus industry has been threatened by Huanglongbing (HLB) for over a century. Here, an HLB-induced Arabidopsis RPM1-interacting protein 4 (RIN4) homologous gene was cloned from Citrus clementina, and its characteristics and function were analyzed to determine its role during citrus-Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) interactions. Quantitative real-time PCR showed that RIN4 was expressed in roots, stems, leaves and flowers, with the greatest expression level in leaves. Its expression was suppressed by gibberellic acid, indole-3-acetic acid, salicylic acid and jasmonic acid treatments, but was induced by abscisic acid and salt treatments, as well as wounding. The transient expression of a RIN4-GFP showed that RIN4 was localized in the cell membrane. RIN4-overexpressing transgenic C. maxima cv. 'Shatianyou' plants were obtained, and some transgenic plants showed greater sensitivity to CLas infection and earlier HLB symptoms appearance than non-transgenic controls. Results obtained in this study indicated that the upregulated expression of RIN4 in HLB diseased citrus may aid CLas infection.

ABSTRACT

Pudendal neuralgia (PN) is a complex disease with various clinical characteristics, and there is no treatment showing definite effectiveness. This study is aimed at evaluating the clinical efficacy of ultrasound-guided high-voltage long-duration pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) for PN. Two cadavers (one male, one female) were dissected to provide evidence for localization of the pudendal nerve. Patients diagnosed as PN who failed or were intolerant in regular medication were screened for diagnostic local anesthesia block of the pudendal nerve before recruitment. Twenty PN patients were enrolled in this study. In the PRF procedure, the needle tip was inserted medially into the internal pudendal artery under ultrasound guidance. The position of the PRF needle tip was then adjusted by the response of the pudendal nerve to the electrical stimulation within the pudendal area (42°C, a series of 2 Hz, and 20 ms width pulses that lasted for 900 s). Alleviation of pain was assessed by the visual analogue scale (VAS) and sitting time pretreatment and on 7 d, 14 d, 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, and 6 m posttreatment in outpatient follow-up or by telephone interview. Two patients were lost due to intervention-irrelevant reasons. Patients showed significantly decreased VAS scores on 7 d after RFP, compared with pretreatment status (7.0 ± 0.9 vs. 3.2 ± 1.7, P < 0.001). The efficacy remained steady till the end of 6 months, with a final remission rate of 88.9%. Sitting time also significantly lengthened following PRF (7 d, 14 d, 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, and 6 m vs. pretreatment, all P < 0.05). Only short-term ipsilateral involuntary convulsion of the lower extremity was reported in one patient, who recovered within 12 h. Six patients were treated with nonsteroidal drugs for a short time. All patients stopped taking medication finally. In conclusion, the ultrasound-guided high-voltage long-duration PRF approach not only reduced the pelvic pain caused by PN but also improved the quality of life by extending sitting time without nerve injury.

Starch is an important component in lotus. ABA is an important plant hormone, which plays a very crucial role in regulating plant starch synthesis. Using 'MRH' as experimental materials, the leaves were sprayed with exogenous ABA before the rhizome expansion. The results showed that stomatal conductance and transpiration rate decreased while net photosynthetic rate increased. The total starch content of the underground rhizome of lotus increased significantly. Meanwhile, qPCR results showed that the relative expression levels of NnSS1, NnSBE1 and NnABI4 were all upregulated after ABA treatment. Then, yeast one-hybrid and dual luciferase assay suggested that NnABI4 protein can promote the expression of NnSS1 by directly binding to its promoter. In addition, subcellular localization results showed that NnABI4 encodes a nuclear protein, and NnSS1 protein was located in the chloroplast. Finally, these results indicate that ABA induced the upregulated expression of NnABI4, and NnABI4 promoted the expression of NnSS1 and thus enhanced starch accumulation in lotus rhizomes. This will provide a theoretical basis for studying the molecular mechanism of ABA regulating starch synthesis in plant.

ABSTRACT

Basic helix-loop-helix proteins (bHLHs) play very important roles in the anthocyanin biosynthesis of many plant species. However, the reports on blueberry anthocyanin biosynthesis-related bHLHs were very limited. In this study, six anthocyanin biosynthesis-related bHLHs were identified from blueberry genome data through homologous protein sequence alignment. Among these blueberry bHLHs, VcAN1, VcbHLH42-1, VcbHLH42-2 and VcbHLH42-3 were clustered into one group, while VcbHLH1-1 and VcbHLH1-2 were clustered into the other group. All these bHLHs were of the bHLH-MYC_N domain, had DNA binding sites and reported conserved amino acids in the bHLH domain, indicating that they were all G-box binding proteins. Protein subcellular location prediction result revealed that all these bHLHs were nucleus-located. Gene structure analysis showed that VcAN1 gDNA contained eight introns, while all the others contained seven introns. Many light-, phytohormone-, stress- and plant growth and development-related cis-acting elements and transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) were identified in their promoters, but the types and numbers of cis-elements and TFBSs varied greatly between the two bHLH groups. Quantitative real-time PCR results showed that VcAN1 expressed highly in old leaf, stem and blue fruit, and its expression increased as the blueberry fruit ripened. Its expression in purple podetium and old leaf was respectively significantly higher than in green podetium and young leaf, indicating that VcAN1 plays roles in anthocyanin biosynthesis regulation not only in fruit but also in podetium and leaf. VcbHLH1-1 expressed the highest in young leaf and stem, and the lowest in green fruit. The expression of VcbHLH1-1 also increased as the fruit ripened, and its expression in blue fruit was significantly higher than in green fruit. VcbHLH1-2 showed high expression in stem but low expression in fruit, especially in red fruit. Our study indicated that the anthocyanin biosynthesis regulatory functions of these bHLHs showed certain spatiotemporal specificity. Additionally, VcAN1 might be a key gene controlling the anthocyanin biosynthesis in blueberry, whose function is worth exploring further for its potential applications in plant high anthocyanin breeding.

BACKGROUND: Radiation resistance is a major obstacle to the prognosis of cervical cancer (CC) patients. Many studies have confirmed that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the regulation of radiosensitivity of cancers. However, whether small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) regulates the radiosensitivity of CC remains unknown. METHODS: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to measure the expression levels of SNHG12 and microRNA-148a (miR-148a). The radiosensitivity of cells was evaluated by clonogenic assay. Flow cytometry and caspase-3 activity assay were performed to assess the apoptosis ability and cell cycle distribution of cells. Besides, dual-luciferase reporter and RNA immunoprecipitation assay were used to verify the interaction between miR-148a and SNHG12 or cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1). Also, the protein levels of CDK1, CCND1 and γ-H2AX were detected by western blot analysis. Furthermore, in vivo experiments were conducted to verify the effect of SNHG12 on CC tumor growth. Ki-67 and TUNEL staining were employed to evaluate the proliferation and apoptosis rates in vivo. The hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining were employed to evaluate the tumor cell morphology. RESULTS: SNHG12 was upregulated in CC tissues and cells, and its knockdown improved the radiosensitivity by promoting the radiation-induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest of CC cells. Also, miR-148a could be sponged by SNHG12 and could target CDK1. MiR-148a inhibitor or CDK1 overexpression could invert the promotion effect of silenced-SNHG12 on CC radiosensitivity. Meanwhile, SNHG12 interference reduced the tumor growth of CC, increased miR-148a expression, and inhibited CDK1 level in vivo. CONCLUSION: LncRNA SNHG12 promoted CDK1 expression to regulate the sensitivity of CC cells to radiation through sponging miR-148a, indicating that SNHG12 could be used as a potential biomarker to treat the radiotherapy resistance of CC patients.

In this paper, the time-resolved broadband sum frequency generation (BB-SFG) spectra from a bare Au surface with a distorted infrared (introduced with a 10 µm polyethylene film in the IR light path) and principal component generalized projection (PCGP) algorithm were used to investigate the bulk distortion on the measured BB-SFG spectra. Besides the SFG intensity reduction from the bulk absorption, the frequency dependent refraction of the bulk layer led to misleading SFG features at the positive delay times beyond the Au dephasing time. These results suggest that SFG spectroscopy is not entirely 'bulk-free' for the buried interfaces because of the bulk absorption and refraction of the incident pulses.

Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB), the most destructive citrus disease, can be transmitted by psyllids and diseased budwoods. Although the final symptoms of the two main HLB transmission ways were similar and hard to distinguish, the host responses might be different. In this study, the global gene changes in leaves of ponkan (Citrus reticulata) mandarin trees following psyllid-transmission of HLB were analyzed at the early symptomatic stage (13 weeks post inoculation, wpi) and late symptomatic stage (26 wpi) using digital gene expression (DGE) profiling. At 13 wpi, 2452 genes were downregulated while only 604 genes were upregulated in HLB infected ponkan leaves but no pathway enrichment was identified. Gene function analysis showed impairment in defense at the early stage of infection. At late stage of 26 wpi, however, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) involved in carbohydrate metabolism, plant defense, hormone signaling, secondary metabolism, transcription regulation were overwhelmingly upregulated, indicating that the defense reactions were eventually activated. The results indicated that HLB bacterial infection significantly influenced ponkan gene expression, and a delayed response of the host to the fast growing bacteria might be responsible for its failure in fighting against the bacteria.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effects of perioperative transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on postoperative pain management in patients undergoing thoracic surgery. Methods: In the prospective, randomized, controlled study, a total of 84 patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) were randomly allocated to the TEAS group (Group T) or control group (Group C). Patients in the Group T received TEAS at Neiguan (PC6) and Hegu (LI4) acupoints for 30 min before anesthesia induction and 30 min after thoracoscopic surgery. Patients in the Group C received the same placement of electrodes but without electrical stimulation. The numeric rating scale (NRS) pain score, remifentanil consumption, demand for rescue analgesics and incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), patient satisfaction, and the levels of plasma ß-endorphin (EP) and IL-6 were recorded. Results: Patients in the Group T had significantly lower NRS pain scores at 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, and 48 h after surgery than those in the Group C. Compared with Group C, patients in Group T had lower remifentanil consumption during operation, lower demand for rescue analgesics and lower rate of PONV within 24 h after surgery. Patients in Group T also had lower IL-6 content, higher ß-EP content and higher satisfaction degree than those in the Group C. Conclusions: Perioperative TEAS significantly decreased postoperative pain and rescued analgesia requirements and the incidence of PONV in patients undergoing thoracoscopic surgery, with a higher patient satisfaction. Cytospora/Valsa spp. are the dominant causal agent of this disease, but many studies have revealed that fungi from some other genus can also cause typical apple canker symptoms. In this study, we performed fungal pathogen isolation from cankered 'Fuji' apple barks. Six representative morphologically different fungi (Strain 1-6) were further subjected to ITS sequencing and evolutionary analysis. Molecular identification results revealed that Strains 1-6 are Cytospora mali, Fusarium cf. solani, Alternaria alternata, C. mali, Diplodia seriata and F. proliferatum, respectively. All these fungi have been reported to be causal agents of apple diseases. By inoculating fungal plugs onto trunks of 'Fuji' apple trees, the pathogenicity of the six fungi were accessed. Only the inoculations of the two C. mali strains (Strain 1 and Strain 4) and the A. alternata strain (Strain 3) resulted in typical apple canker symptoms in trunks. It is worth noting that Strain 1 caused much more severe canker symptoms and higher pathogenicity incidence than the other two fungi. A. alternata has been identified as a pathogen causing diseases on apple fruits and leaves. By further assessing its pathogenicity on apple fruits and leaves, we verified that it can also cause typical fruit rot and leaf spot symptoms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on apple canker disease caused by A. alternata in China. Our present study can provide a theoretical foundation for the prevention and control of apple canker disease.

ABSTRACT

In this study, we proposed a novel method utilizing polyethyleneimine (PEI)-modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs)-based hybrid silica monolithic spin tip to analyze hydrophilic ß-lactam antibiotics and ß-lactamases inhibitors in whole blood samples for the first time. HNTs were incorporated directly into the hybrid silica monolith via a sol-gel method, which improved the hydrophilicity of the matrix. The as-prepared monolith was further modified with PEI by glutaraldehyde coupling reaction. It was found that the PEI-modified HNTs-based hybrid silica monolith enabled a large adsorption capacity of cefoperazone at 35.7 mg g-1. The monolithic spin tip-based purification method greatly reduced the matrix effect of whole blood samples and had a detection limit as low as 0.1 - 0.2 ng mL-1. In addition, the spiked recoveries of sulbactam, cefuroxime, and cefoperazone in blank whole blood were in the range of 89.3-105.4 % for intra-day and 90.6-103.5 % for inter-day, with low relative standard deviations of 1.3-7.2 % and 4.9-10.5 %, respectively. This study introduces a new strategy for preparing nanoparticles incorporated in a hybrid silica monolith with a high adsorption capacity. Moreover, it offers a valuable tool to monitor sulbactam, cefoperazone, and cefuroxime in whole blood from pregnant women with the final aim of guiding their administration.

ABSTRACT

Long interspersed nuclear element-1 (LINE-1 or L1) is a retrotransposon group that constitutes 17% of the human genome and shows variable expression across cell types. However, the control of L1 expression and its function in gene regulation are incompletely understood. Here we show that L1 transcription activates long-range gene expression. Genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screening using a reporter driven by the L1 5' UTR in human cells identifies functionally diverse genes affecting L1 expression. Unexpectedly, altering L1 expression by knockout of regulatory genes impacts distant gene expression. L1s can physically contact their distal target genes, with these interactions becoming stronger upon L1 activation and weaker when L1 is silenced. Remarkably, L1s contact and activate genes essential for zygotic genome activation (ZGA), and L1 knockdown impairs ZGA, leading to developmental arrest in mouse embryos. These results characterize the regulation and function of L1 in long-range gene activation and reveal its importance in mammalian ZGA.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation and dexamethasone can reduce postoperative nausea and/or vomiting. In this noninferiority study, we compared the effects of Neiguan acupoint (PC6) transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation with dexamethasone to prevent postoperative nausea and/or vomiting in female patients undergoing breast surgery. METHODS: In total, 280 patients were randomized into the following 2 groups: transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (n = 140) and dexamethasone (n = 140). Transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation was performed 0.5 hours before anesthesia induction, immediately after entering the post-anesthesia care unit, and every 3 hours after leaving the post-anesthesia care unit. In the postoperative ward, the anesthetist instructed the patient's family members to assist the patient with PC6 patient-controlled transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation. Patients in the dexamethasone group were given 8 mg dexamethasone (intravenously) at 0.5 hours before induction of anesthesia. The incidence of nausea, vomiting, need for rescue antiemetics, patient satisfaction score, and the feasibility results of PC6 patient-controlled transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation were recorded 24 hours after surgery. RESULT: Within 0 to 24 hours after surgery, the incidence of postoperative nausea and/or vomiting in the transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation group was not inferior to the dexamethasone group (31.1% vs 27.9%, per protocol risk difference 3.2; 95% confidence interval -7.7 to 14.0). The results of the intention-to-treat analysis (30.7% vs 27.1%, risk difference 3.6; 95% confidence interval -7.0 to 14.2) agreed with the per protocol analysis. Patient satisfaction score in the transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation group was higher than that in the dexamethasone group (3.9 ± 0.1 vs 3.6 ± 0.1, P = .003). The scheme of preventing postoperative nausea and/or vomiting by PC6 patient-controlled transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation was feasible. CONCLUSION: Transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation was noninferior to dexamethasone in preventing postoperative nausea and/or vomiting within 24 hours after breast surgery. Neiguan acupoint patient-controlled transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation was feasible to prevent postoperative nausea and/or vomiting.
