ABSTRACT

The recent discovery of the interfacial superconductivity (SC) of the Bi2Te3/Fe1+yTe heterostructure has attracted extensive studies due to its potential as a novel platform for trapping and controlling Majorana fermions. Here we present studies of another topological insulator (TI)/Fe1+yTe heterostructure, Sb2Te3/Fe1+yTe, which also has an interfacial 2-dimensional SC. The results of transport measurements support that reduction of the excess Fe concentration of the Fe1+yTe layer not only increases the fluctuation of its antiferromagnetic (AFM) order but also enhances the quality of the SC of this heterostructure system. On the other hand, the interfacial SC of this heterostructure was found to have a wider-ranging TI-layer thickness dependence than that of the Bi2Te3/Fe1+yTe heterostructure, which is believed to be attributed to the much higher bulk conductivity of Sb2Te3 that enhances indirect coupling between its top and bottom topological surface states (TSSs). Our results provide evidence of the interplay among the AFM order, itinerant carries from the TSSs, and the induced interfacial SC of the TI/Fe1+yTe heterostructure system.

ABSTRACT

We proposed a multi-layered nanorod structure with the same tilt angle and different diameters, which has high visible transmittance and strong 3-5 µm absorption based on the principles of the gradient of the refractive index and the multi-size cavity resonances. The indium tin oxide (ITO) was selected as the target material to fabricate the structure by using a glancing angle deposition method. The experimental results show that when the deposition angle θ is 80°, swing deposition is successively done with the rotation angle φ of ±8°, ± 5°, ± 3°, and 0° on the surface of the substrate, and the quartz crystal microbalance thicknesses of ITO nanorods are 220 nm for each deposition, the average transmittance is 80.5% in the range of 400-800 nm and the integrated absorption is 86% in the 3-5 µm band. Such a simple, low-cost, and easy-to-fabricate device has potential applications in window stealth materials and other related fields.

ABSTRACT

A mid-infrared broadband absorber with high visible light transmittance is proposed in this paper. The absorber is composed of layered ITO nanorod arrays with increasing angles fabricated by oblique angle deposition technique. The experimental results show that the average transmittance of the absorber reaches 80% in the 400-800 nm band and the integrated absorption reaches 82.9% in the 3-5 µm band, when the QCM thickness of the first layer of film is 100 nm and the deposition angle θ is 10°, the QCM heights of the second to fifth layers of nanorods are all 330 nm, and their deposition angles are 55°, 68°, 80°, and 87°, respectively. The high transmittance in the visible band is attributed to the gradient of the refractive index. The broadband absorption in the mid-infrared band results from different resonances in the empty cavities with different sizes. Such a simple and large-area absorber has potential applications in window materials and infrared cloaking.

ABSTRACT

This paper proposed ITO/Si/ITO semi-cone-shell chiral complexes on silicon nanocones with broadband CD in the mid-infrared band. The experimental results show that when the deposition angle θ = 45°, the first ITO deposition of ta = 100 nm, the second Si deposition of tb = 200 nm with the azimuth angle unchanged, and the third ITO deposition of tc = 200 nm after rotating the azimuth angle of 60°, the prepared chiral structure has a broadband CD response in the mid-infrared band of 2.5-4 µm. The broadband CD effect is produced by the internal resonance of the three-dimensional open cavity. The cone structure can be regarded as a plurality of planar open resonant rings with different diameters, and these rings resonate at different wavelengths. The experimental results also show that the proposed chiral ITO structure exhibits a better broadband CD response than that of the structure composed of traditional metal Ag. Such a chiral structure provides a new method for the design of CD devices in the mid-infrared band.

ABSTRACT

AIMS: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness, safety and pharmacokinetics of adamgammadex in surgical patients. METHODS: Forty-eight patients aged 18-64 years old were randomized to receive adamgammadex (2, 4, 6, and 8 mg.kg-1 ) or placebo at a ratio of 10:2 for reversal of 0.6 mg.kg-1 rocuronium-induced neuromuscular block. Neuromuscular function was monitored by TOF-Watch® SX. When the T2 of train-of-four (TOF) reappeared at the end of surgery, patients received an intravenous administration of adamgammadex or placebo. RESULTS: The recovery time of the TOF ratio to 0.9 decreased significantly from 39.3 [29.5, 50.2] minutes in the group that received placebo to 3.0 [2.3, 3.9] minutes, P < .0001; 2.1 [1.5, 3.0] minutes, P < .0001; 2.1 [1.8, 3.3] minutes, P < .0001; and 1.8 [1.5, 2.2] minutes, P < .0001 in the 2, 4, 6 and 8 mg.kg-1 adamgammadex groups, respectively. Then, adamgammadex also showed a shortened recovery time for the TOF ratio recovered to 0.8 and 0.7. Adamgammadex was well tolerated, and no cases of anaphylactic reactions, post-operative bleeding, recurarization, abnormal basic vital signs and prolonged QT intervals were observed. The pharmacokinetics of adamgammadex in plasma increased in dose-dependent manner. The 24-hour cumulative fraction of adamgammadex in urine was 65-83%, and that of rocuronium was increased after using adamgammadex from 15% to about 25-30%. CONCLUSION: Adamgammadex was found to be effective for reversal of rocuronium-induced neuromuscular block, and it was safe and well tolerated in patients.

ABSTRACT

Ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy is widely applied in real-time environmental monitoring, especially in diesel vehicle nitrogen monoxide (NO) emissions. However, in field experiments, UV absorption spectrum may exist for different degrees of drifts. Spectral jitters may exist for various reasons such as optical power variation, electrical signal drift, and the refractive index jitters of the optical path for an extended period of time, which causes the detection system to be calibrated. And the pulse xenon lamps as the UV source are characterized by specific emission lines that interfere in spectral analysis directly. For these problems, we proposed the spectral structure matching method based on principal component analysis (PCA), which was compared with the conventional polynomial fitting method to observe feasibility and variability. Further, the UV derivative spectrum was applied to the system appropriately, due to the variation of the absorption peak, and was only related to the target gas by using the above method. We validated our method experimentally by performing the NO UV detection system with the calibration and the comparison test. The results suggested that the calibration relative error was less than 9% and the measurement relative error was less than 6% for this wide range by the proposed processes, which optimized the interference of spectral structures and fluctuation to the system and therefore provided better monitoring. This study may provide an alternative spectral analysis method that is unaffected on the specific emission lines of lamps and is not limited to the spectral region and the target gas.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND & AIMS: p53 mutations occur frequently in human HCC. Activation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway is also associated with HCC. However, it is still unknown whether these changes together initiate HCC and can be targeted as a potential therapeutic strategy. METHODS: We generated mouse models in which mTOR was hyperactivated by loss of tuberous sclerosis complex 1 (Tsc1) with or without p53 haplodeficiency. Primary cells were isolated from mouse livers. Oncogenic signalling was assessed in vitro and in vivo, with or without targeted inhibition of a single molecule or multiple molecules. Transcriptional profiling was used to identify biomarkers predictive of HCC. Human HCC materials were used to corroborate the findings from mouse models. RESULTS: p53 haploinsufficiency facilitates mTOR signalling via the PTEN/PI3K/Akt axis, promoting HCC tumorigenesis and lung metastasis. Inhibition of PI3K/Akt reduced mTOR activity, which effectively enhanced the anticancer effort of an mTOR inhibitor. ATP-binding cassette subfamily C member 4 (Abcc4) was found to be responsible for p53 haploinsufficiency- and Tsc1 loss-driven HCC tumorigenesis. Moreover, in clinical HCC samples, Abcc4 was specifically identified an aggressive subtype. The mTOR inhibitor rapamycin significantly reduced hepatocarcinogenesis triggered by Tsc1 loss and p53 haploinsufficiency in vivo, as well as the biomarker Abcc4. CONCLUSIONS: Our data advance the current understanding of the activation of the PTEN/PI3K/Akt/mTOR axis and its downstream target Abcc4 in hepatocarcinogenesis driven by p53 reduction and Tsc1 loss. Targeting mTOR, an unexpected vulnerability in p53 (haplo)deficiency HCC, can be exploited therapeutically to treat Abcc4-positive patients with HCC. LAY SUMMARY: Tsc1 loss facilitates the p53 (haplo)insufficiency-mediated activation of the PTEN/Akt/mTOR axis, leading to the elevated expression of Abcc4 to drive HCC tumorigenesis and metastasis in mice. Inhibition of mTOR protects against p53 haploinsufficiency and Tsc1 loss-triggered tumour-promoting activity, providing a new approach for treating an aggressive subtype of HCC exhibiting high Abcc4 expression.

ABSTRACT

When ultraviolet (UV) absorption spectroscopy technology is used for nitric oxide (NO) detection, the background noise will directly affect the accuracy of concentration inversion, especially in low concentrations. Traditional processing methods attempt to eliminate background noise, which damages the absorption spectrum characteristics. However, stochastic resonance (SR) can utilize the noise to extract a weak characteristic signal. This paper reports a monostable stochastic resonance (MSR) model for processing an UV NO absorption spectrum. By analyzing the characteristics of UV absorption spectrum of NO, the evaluation indexes were constructed, thereby an adaptive MSR method was designed for parameter optimization. The numerical simulation confirmed the absorbance peak can be amplified and spectral signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be in the stable range of the proposed method, when noise intensity increased. Finally, this experiment obtained a NO detection limit (3σ) of 1.456 ppm and the maximum relative deviation of concentration is 6.32% by this proposed method, which is satisfactory for processing of the UV NO absorption spectrum.

ABSTRACT

During the atmospheric detection process in open space, the excessive phase noise is introduced into the signal, due to the atmospheric turbulence, which causes the intensity and phase fluctuation. In the previous study, a spectral data processing method based on the co-frequency and dual-wave has been used to reduce the influence of the scintillation noise from the atmospheric turbulence in open space, while the influence of the phase noise remains to be solved. So the wavelength modulated signal is theoretically analyzed at first. On studying the relationship between the dual-waves in one cycle to eliminate the phase fluctuation and reduce the phase fluctuation caused by the atmospheric turbulence, a new method of the spectral phase correction for the open space atmospheric detection has been proposed. An atmospheric detection experiment on the phase correction in the open space based on co-frequency and dual-wave has been carried out. The results show that the maximum fluctuation of the spectral signal processed with this method is 1.06%, while the power spectral density fluctuation is suppressed below 50Hz, and the Allan analysis result is 8.8 × 10-8(1s). Compared with the traditional concentration inversion method using 2f-wavelength modulation and the classical light intensity elimination, the proposed phase correction method can effectively reduce the fluctuation of random noise caused by the short-term atmospheric turbulence and the laser flashing to improve the stability of the concentration measurement, which has practical engineering value.

BACKGROUND: The integrative analysis of microRNA and mRNA expression profiles can elucidate microRNA-targeted gene function. We used this technique to elucidate insights into the immunological pathology of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). METHODS: We analyzed differentially expressed microRNA and mRNA expression profiles of CD4+ T lymphocytes from the liver and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs) of mice with NAFLD using microarrays and RNA sequencing. Normal mice were used as controls. The target genes of microRNAs were predicted by TargetScan. Integrative analysis showed that the mRNAs were overlapped with microRNAs. Furthermore, the Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed to predict the key genes and pathways. Then, 16 microRNAs and 10 mRNAs were validated by qRT-PCR. RESULTS: Microarray analysis suggested that 170 microRNAs were significantly de-regulated in CD4+ T lymphocytes from the liver between the two groups. Eighty mRNAs corresponded with microRNA targeted genes. KEGG analysis indicated that the MAPK pathway was consistently augmented in the liver of NAFLD mice. miR-23b, let-7e, miR-128 and miR-130b possibly played significant parts in the MAPK pathways. Furthermore, between the two groups, 237 microRNAs were significantly de-regulated in CD4+ T lymphocytes from MLNs. 38 mRNAs coincided with microRNA target genes. The metabolic pathway was consistently enriched in the MLNs of NAFLD mice. miR-206-3p, miR-181a-5p, miR-29c-3p and miR-30d-5p likely play important roles in the regulation of metabolic pathways. CONCLUSION: The results of this study presented a new perspective on the application of integrative analysis to identify complex regulation means involved in the immunological pathogenesis of NAFLD.

Perilla frutescens is one of 60 kinds of food and medicine plants in the initial directory announced by health ministry of China. With the development of Perilla domain in recent , the breeding and application of good varieties has become the main bottleneck of its development. This study reported that applied to the system selection, add to marker-assisted method to breed perilla varieties. Through the whole genome sequencing and consistency matching, annotated the mutation locus according to genome data, and comparison analysis with Perilla common variants database, finally selected 30 non-synonymous mutation SNPs used as characteristic markers of Zhongyan Feishu No.1. those SNP marker were used as chosen standard of Perilla varieties. Finally breeding new perilla variety Zhongyan Feishu No.1, which possess to characters of the leaf and seed dual-used, high yield, high resistance, and could used to green fertilizer. The Zhongyan Feishu No.1 acquired the plant new varieties identification of Beijing city , the identification numbers is 2016054. Marker assisted identification guide new varieties breeding in plants, which can provide a new reference for breeding of medicinal plants.

Chinese medicine prescriptions are a type of medical documents written by doctors after they understand the patients' conditions for syndrome differentiation. Chinese medicine prescriptions are also the basis for pharmacy personnel to dispense medicines and guide patients to use drugs. It has the legal, technical and economic significances. Chinese medicine prescriptions contain such information of names, quantity and usage. Whether the names of drugs in Chinese medicine prescriptions are standardized or not is directly related to the safety and efficacy of the drugs. At present, nonstandard clinical prescriptions are frequently seen. With "Chinese medicine prescription", "names of drug in Chinese medicine prescription" and "standards of Chinese medicine prescription" as key words, the author searched CNKI, Wanfang and other databases, and consulted nearly 100 literatures, so as to summarize current names of drugs in traditional Chinese medicine prescription, analyze the reasons, and give suggestions, in the expectation of standardizing the names of drugs used in traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions.

ABSTRACT

It needs on-line monitoring of ammonia concentration on dairy feedlot to disclose ammonia emissions characteristics accurately for reducing ammonia emissions and improving the ecological environment. The on-line monitoring system for ammonia concentration has been designed based on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology combining with long open-path technology, then the study has been carried out with inverse dispersion technique and the system. The ammonia concentration in-situ has been detected and ammonia emission rules have been analyzed on a dairy feedlot in Baoding in autumn and winter of 2013. The monitoring indicated that the peak of ammonia concentration was 6.11 x 10(-6) in autumn, and that was 6.56 x 10(-6) in winter. The concentration results show that the variation of ammonia concentration had an obvious diurnal periodicity, and the general characteristic of diurnal variation was that the concentration was low in the daytime and was high at night. The ammonia emissions characteristic was obtained with inverse dispersion model that the peak of ammonia emissions velocity appeared at noon. The emission velocity was from 1.48 kg/head/hr to 130.6 kg/head/hr in autumn, and it was from 0.004 5 kg/head/hr to 43.32 kg/head/hr in winter which was lower than that in autumn. The results demonstrated ammonia emissions had certain seasonal differences in dairy feedlot scale. In conclusion, the ammonia concentration was detected with optical technology, and the ammonia emissions results were acquired by inverse dispersion model analysis with large range, high sensitivity, quick response without gas sampling. Thus, it's an effective method for ammonia emissions monitoring in dairy feedlot that provides technical support for scientific breeding.

ABSTRACT

The mixed samples of nylon film enrichment of Cr, Pb and Cd three elements and glass fiber membrane filter were as the research object. With the method of superposition of membrane filter, the XRF spectra were measured under different thin film samples thicknesses. According the changes of characteristic XRF of Cr, Pb and Cd elements in the mixed sample and Ca, As and Sr elements in glass fiber membranes, the effects of sample thickness on thin film method XRF spectrum measurement were studied. The study results showed that the effects of thin film sample thickness on the fluorescent properties of elements with characteristic spectral lines in different energy ranges were different. The energy of characteristic spectral lines was greater, the loss of element characteristic X-ray fluorescence when it passed through membrane and reached detector was less. But matrix effect caused by thin film sample thickness increase was stronger with the energy of characteristic spectral lines greater. The background fluorescent intensity in corresponding characteristic spectral line location was greater. So the impact of matrix effect caused by sample thickness increase on thin film method XRF spectrum measurement sensitivity was greater. For elements with low energy characteristic spectral lines (energy≤7 keV), the way of increasing thin film sample thickness in order to increase the mass-thickness concentration of component measured, can not effectively improve the sensitivity of thin film method XRF spectrum measurement. And thin film samples thickness within 0.96 mm is conductive to the measurement and analysis of XRF spectrum. For element with higher energy characteristic spectra lines(energy>7 keV), the sensitivity of XRF spectrum measurement can be appropriately increased by the way of increase thin film sample thickness in order to increase the mass-thickness concentration of component measured. And thin film samples thickness within 0.96~2.24 mm is more conductive to the measurement and analysis of XRF spectrum. The study provides an important theoretical basis for thin sample preparation and enrichment technology of thin film method X-ray fluorescence spectrum analysis the atmosphere and water heavy metal.

Extensive use of pesticides has a significant impact on the environment. Carbaryl, whose residues stay in the surface water, is one of the most widely used broad spectrum insecticides in agriculture. It is important to understand carbaryl spectral characteristics and detection methods. The characteristic of excitation-emission three-dimensional spectra of carbaryl is studied. By changing the concentration of methanol in methanol-water binary solvent, the impact of methanol-water mixture on three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of carbaryl is discussed. The results show that the characteristic excitation-emission spectra of carbaryl is single peak, the range of the excitation wavelength and emission wavelength are: 244~304 and 300~350 nm respectively, the maximum excitation/emission peak located at 280 and 335 nm. With increasing the content of methanol in methanol-water binary solvent mixture, there is no obviously spectra shift of three dimensional fluorescence spectra of carbaryl. However, the intensity of fluorescence is nonlinear dependent on the content of methanol, mainly due to the specific properties of binary mixed solvent.

ABSTRACT

The qualitative and quantitative analysis are often interfered by the outliers in time series three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy. In this work, an efficient outlier detection method is proposed by taking advantage of the characteristics in time dimension and the spectral dimension. Firstly, the wavelength points that are mostly the outliers are extracted by the variance in time dimension. Secondly, by the analysis of the existence styles of outliers and similarity score of any two samples, the cumulative similarity is introduced in spectral dimension. At last, fluorescence intensity at each wavelength of all samples is modified by the correction matrix in time dimension and the outlier detection is completed according the to cumulative similarity scores. The application of the correction matrix in time dimension not only improves the validity of the method but also reduces the computation by the choice of characteristics region in correction matrix. Numerical experiments show that the outliers can still be detected by the 50 percent of all points in spectral dimension.

The fast chlorophyll fluorescence induction curve contains rich information of photosynthesis. It can reflect various information of vegetation, such as, the survival status, the pathological condition and the physiology trends under the stress state. Through the acquisition of algae fluorescence and induced optical signal, the fast phase of chlorophyll fluorescence kinetics curve was fitted. Based on least square fitting method, we introduced adaptive minimum error approaching method for fast multivariate nonlinear regression fitting toward chlorophyll fluorescence kinetics curve. We realized Fo (fixedfluorescent), Fm (maximum fluorescence yield), σPSII (PSII functional absorption cross section) details parameters inversion and the photosynthetic parameters inversion of Chlorella pyrenoidosa. And we also studied physiological variation of Chlorella pyrenoidosa under the stress of Cu(2+).

ABSTRACT

(1) In this paper type 316 stainless steel metal plate as the research object, the selection of sample detecting position was studied when thin film method X-ray fluorescence measurement was conducted. The study showed that the optimal location for the sample detection was sample distance X-ray tube and detector baseline 1cm with the baseline into a 16°angle. (2) Heavy metal pollutants of Pb, Cd and Cr in industrial ambient air as the main analysis object, when thin film method X-ray fluorescence conducted with lead plate protection, X-rays will penetrate the membrane and continuely stimulate the protective lead plate. Therefore there is lead spectral line interference in the filter membrane background spectrum, which will affect the detection of lead element in real samples. Studies show that when a layer of isolating material was applied between the thin sample and the protective lead plate, the interference of lead line can effectively be avoided. (3) Several rigid insulating material of type 316 stainless steel, brass, aluminum, red copper and PTEE as lead inner material were selected and studied. The study results showed that compared with X-ray fluorescence spectra of other lead inner materials, the X-ray fluorescence spectrum of red copper contained the least element spectral lines. There were not Cr, Cd and Pb spectrum peaks in the X-ray fluorescence spectrum of red copper. And the target timber scattering spectrum intensity in the high energy part was weaker compared to other X-ray fluorescence spectrum. The above analysis shows that red copper has the minimal disturbance to the actual measurement of heavy metals Cr, Cd and Pb. At the same time, red copper as lead inner materials can effectively avoid the interference of lead spectrum line in lead plate. So red copper is the best lead plate inner materials in thin film method X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy measurement. This study provides an important theoretical basis for the assembling and setting'up air and water weight metal X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.

ABSTRACT

Our previous experiment confirmed that high-mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 (HMGB1) was involved in the pathogenesis of Lupus nephritis (LN) by upregulating the proliferation of the mouse mesangial cell line (MMC) through the cyclin D1/CDK4/p16 system, but the precise mechanism is still unknown. Therefore, in the present study, we demonstrated that HMGB1 induced the proliferation of MMC cells in a time- and concentration-dependent manner, downregulated phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) expression, increased the level of Akt serine 473 phosphorylation, and induced p65 subunit nuclear translocation. The overexpression of PTEN prevented the upregulation of HMGB1-induced proliferation by blocking the activation of Akt. The knockdown of Akt by siRNA technology and blocking the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) pathway using pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) and SN50, inhibitors of NF-κB, both attenuated the HMGB1-induced proliferation by counteracting the activation of the cyclin D1. In addition, while sh-Akt partly blocked the nuclear translocation of the p65 subunit, PDTC did not affect the activation of the Akt induced by HMGB1 in MMC cells. These findings indicate that HMGB1 induced the proliferation of MMC cells by activating the PTEN/phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Chitin is a major component of fungal cell wall and is synthesized by chitin synthases (Chs). Plant pathogenic fungi normally have multiple chitin synthase genes. To determine their roles in development and pathogenesis, we functionally characterized all seven CHS genes in Magnaporthe oryzae. Three of them, CHS1, CHS6, and CHS7, were found to be important for plant infection. While the chs6 mutant was non-pathogenic, the chs1 and chs7 mutants were significantly reduced in virulence. CHS1 plays a specific role in conidiogenesis, an essential step for natural infection cycle. Most of chs1 conidia had no septum and spore tip mucilage. The chs6 mutant was reduced in hyphal growth and conidiation. It failed to penetrate and grow invasively in plant cells. The two MMD-containing chitin synthase genes, CHS5 and CHS6, have a similar expression pattern. Although deletion of CHS5 had no detectable phenotype, the chs5 chs6 double mutant had more severe defects than the chs6 mutant, indicating that they may have overlapping functions in maintaining polarized growth in vegetative and invasive hyphae. Unlike the other CHS genes, CHS7 has a unique function in appressorium formation. Although it was blocked in appressorium formation by germ tubes on artificial hydrophobic surfaces, the chs7 mutant still produced melanized appressoria by hyphal tips or on plant surfaces, indicating that chitin synthase genes have distinct impacts on appressorium formation by hyphal tip and germ tube. The chs7 mutant also was defective in appressorium penetration and invasive growth. Overall, our results indicate that individual CHS genes play diverse roles in hyphal growth, conidiogenesis, appressorium development, and pathogenesis in M. oryzae, and provided potential new leads in the control of this devastating pathogen by targeting specific chitin synthases.
