RESUMEN

Coarse aggregate in concrete is basically free from sulfate corrosion. If the influence of the coarse aggregate in the concrete is not eliminated, the change amount of the concrete ultrasonic pulse velocity value is directly used to evaluate the damage degree of sulfate corrosion in the concrete, and the results are often inaccurate. This paper presents an evaluation method of corrosion damage for the sulfate-attacked concrete by CT, ultrasonic velocity testing and AHP methods. CT was used to extract the coarse aggregate information in the specimen, and the proportion of coarse aggregate on the ultrasonic test line was calculated based on CT image analysis. Then, the correction value of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) of the concrete structure was calculated, and the sulfate corrosion degree of concrete structure was evaluated using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results show that the evaluation method proposed in this paper could more accurately evaluate the corrosion damage in the sulfate-attacked concrete structures, and the evaluation results were more in line with reality.

RESUMEN

The rapid development of highway engineering has made slope stability an important issue in infrastructure construction. To meet the needs of green vegetation growth, ecological recovery, landscape beautification and the economy, long-term monitoring research on high-slope micrometeorology has important practical significance. Because of that, we designed and created a new slope micrometeorological monitoring and predicting system (SMMPS). We innovatively upgraded the cloud platform system, by adding an ARIMA prediction system and data-fitting system. From regularly sensor-monitored slope micrometeorological factors (soil temperature and humidity, slope temperature and humidity, and slope rainfall), a data-fitting system was used to fit atmospheric data with slope micrometeorological data, the trend of which ARIMA predicted. The slope was protected in time to prevent severe weather damage to the slope vegetation on a large scale. The SMMPS, which upgrades its cloud platform, significantly reduces the cost of long-term monitoring, protects slope stability, and improves the safety of rail and road projects.

RESUMEN

In order to study the protection performance of silane coating on in-service concrete structures in a sulfate environment, we collect concrete samples in the field to simulate the concrete erosion process by accelerated erosion with wetting-drying cycles. We place the samples into protected, exposed and control groups corresponding to a corrosive environment with silane protection, corrosive environment without protection and general environment for three different service conditions. A combination of ultrasonic velocimetry, CT (Computed Tomography) scan imaging, NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) pore structure analysis, strength testing and other methods are used to analyze the strength, ultrasonic wave velocity, pore structure and other characteristics of the specimens during sulfate erosion. Based on the test results, the protective effect of silane coating on concrete structures under sulfate attack is quantitatively analyzed, and an index for judging the damage rate of specimens is proposed to quantitatively analyze the protective effect of silane coating. The research results show that the damage of the concrete structure under silane protection in a sulfate-attack environment can be reduced by more than 50%; its integrity damage index and strength damage index are easily affected by the location of local defects, which leads to a decrease in the protection efficiency of the surface silane coating.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: It has been reported that the lncRNA SNHG16 has significantly increased expression in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PC). However, the functions and mechanisms of SNHG16 are not clear. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of SNHG16 on PC. METHODS: qRT-PCR analysis was applied to detect the expression levels of SNHG16, miR-302b-3p and SLC2A4 in PC tissues and cells. CCK8 and EdU assays were used to evaluate the proliferation of PC cells. Transwell assays were used to assess PC cell migration and invasion. Apoptosis was evaluated by flow cytometry, and the expression of apoptosis-related proteins (including Bax, Bcl-2, cleaved caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-9) was tested by western blotting. The interactions between miR-302b-3p and SNHG16 or miR-302b-3p and the 3'UTR of SLC2A4 mRNA were clarified by a dual luciferase reporter assay and RNA immunoprecipitation. RESULTS: SNHG16 expression was significantly elevated in PC tissues and cell lines and was associated with poor prognosis of PC patients. Knockdown of SNHG16 reduced PC cell proliferation, migration and invasion. SNHG16 acted as a sponge to regulate miR-302b-3p expression in PC cells. In addition, miR-302b-3p targeted SLC2A4 directly. CONCLUSIONS: SNHG16 promoted the progression of PC via the miR-302b-3p/SLC2A4 axis and was expected to be a potential target for the early diagnosis and treatment of PC.

RESUMEN

As a component of the innate immune system, there is emerging evidence to suggest that neutrophils may play a critical role in the initiation and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are web-like chromatin structures that protrude from the membranes during neutrophil activation. Recent research has shown that NETs, which are at the forefront of the renewed interest in neutrophil studies, are increasingly intertwined with HCC. By exploring the mechanisms of NETs in HCC, we aim to improve our understanding of the role of NETs and gain deeper insights into neutrophil biology. Therefore, this article provides a summary of key findings and discusses the emerging field of NETs in HCC.

RESUMEN

Introduction: The involvement of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in cancer biology is increasingly recognized, yet its role in pancreatic cancer (PC) remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the impact of ER stress on prognosis and biological characteristics in PC patients. Methods: A bioinformatic analysis was conducted using RNA-seq data and clinicopathological information from PC patients in the TCGA and ICGC databases. The ER stress-associated gene sets were extracted from MSigDB. ER stress-associated genes closely linked with overall survival (OS) of PC patients were identified via log-rank test and univariate Cox analysis, and further narrowed by LASSO method. A risk signature associated with ER stress was formulated using multivariate Cox regression and assessed through Kaplan-Meier curves, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses, and Harrell's concordance index. External validation was performed with the ICGC cohort. The single-sample gene-set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm appraised the immune cell infiltration landscape. Results: Worse OS in PC patients with high-risk signature score was observed. Multivariate analysis underscored our ER stress-associated signature as a valuable and independent predictor of prognosis. Importantly, these results based on TCGA were further validated in ICGC dataset. In addition, our risk signature was closely associated with homeostasis, protein secretion, and immune regulation in PC patients. In particular, PC microenvironment in the high-risk cluster exhibited a more immunosuppressive status. At last, we established a nomogram model by incorporating the risk signature and clinicopathological parameters, which behaves better in predicting prognosis of PC patients. Discussion: This comprehensive molecular analysis presents a new predictive model for the prognosis of PC patients, highlighting ER stress as a potential therapeutic target. Besides, the findings indicate that ER stress can have effect modulating PC immune responses.

RESUMEN

Sulfate erosion is a major cause of concrete durability deteriorations, especially for the service tunnels that suffer sulfate erosion for a long time. Accurately predicting the concrete damage failure under sulfate erosion has been a challenging problem in the evaluation and maintenance of concrete structures. Here we design the dry-wet cycle test of service tunnel concrete under sulfate erosion and analyze the Elastic relative dynamic modulus (Erd) and mass under 35 times cycle periods. Then we develop an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) prediction model linking damage failure to Erd and mass. The results show that the deterioration of concrete first increased and then decreased with an extension of the dry-wet cycle period. Moreover, based on a finite set of training data, the proposed prediction approach shows high accuracy for the changes of concrete damage failure parameters in or out of the training dataset. The ARIMA method is proven to be feasible and efficient for predicting the concrete damage failure of service tunnels under sulfate erosion for a long time.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Intrathecal analgesia is more effective than conservative delivery methods such as drugs administered orally or intravenously. Programmable devices such as Medtronic's SynchroMed systems have often been applied for long-term intrathecal analgesia. However, the totally implanted systems are very expensive in China. Considering cost-effectiveness, a reliable transmission protocol for a ZigBee-Based wireless analgesia pump system was used for long-term intrathecal analgesia in the home care of patients. METHODS: We retrospectively investigated the efficacy, side effects, and complications of long-term intrathecal analgesia in the home care of patients via the wireless analgesia pump system. Follow-up visits occurred monthly for the initial 3 months after implantation and then every 3 months until patient death, withdrawal from the study, or removal of the device by a designated staff. At each follow-up visit, daily average pain score, pain frequency, satisfaction level, Spitzer Quality of Life Index, and side effects for every patient were recorded. RESULTS: Pain intensity and frequency were significantly decreased by intrathecal analgesia via a wireless analgesia pump system. There were no significant differences in the satisfaction levels between hospitalization and each follow-up visit. The Spitzer Quality of Life Indexes were improved compared with patients who were hospitalized. No serious side effects were observed in this study. CONCLUSION: Intrathecal analgesia is an effective and safe method for control of refractory cancer pain, and wireless analgesia pump systems can be safely and effectively used for long-term intrathecal analgesia management in the home care of patients with advanced cancer.
