RESUMEN

Conventional approaches employing nanopowder particles or deposition photocatalytic nanofilm materials encounter challenges such as performance instability, susceptibility to detachment, and recycling complications in practical photocatalytic scenarios. In this study, a novel fabrication strategy is proposed that uses femtosecond laser direct writing of self-sourced metal to prepare a self-supporting microstructure substrate and combines the hydrothermal method to construct a three-dimensional spatially distributed metal oxide micro/nanostructure. The obtained wurtzite ZnO micro/nanostructure has excellent wetting properties while obtaining a larger specific surface area and can achieve effective adsorption of methyl orange molecules. Moreover, the tight integration of ZnO with the surface interface of the self-sourced metal microstructure substrate will facilitate efficient charge transfer. Simultaneously, it improves the efficiency of light utilization (absorption) and the number of active sites in the photocatalytic process, ultimately leading to excellent photodegradation stability. This result provides an innovative technology solution for achieving efficient semiconductor surface-interface photocatalytic performance and stability.

RESUMEN

Photochemical vapor generation (PVG) is emerging as an alternative sample introduction method in the field of atomic spectrometry. The addition of transition metals can largely improve the PVG yields of elements with the enhancement of 1.4 to 30 000-fold, based on previous reports. In this work, the use of vanadium species as novel "sensitizers" in PVG was first reported, tellurium (Te) was selected as the target. The efficient photochemical reduction of Te was observed in the presence of 9% (v/v) formic acid (FA), 20%(v/v) acetic acid (AA), and 40 mg L-1 of V(V) (existing as VO3-) with the conversion efficiency of 87 ± 3%. Under the selected conditions, there was no significant difference in analytical sensitivity between Te(IV) and Te(VI), making the direct detection of total Te possible. The limit of detection (LOD, 3σ) was 2.9 ng L-1 for Te with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP MS) measurement. Good precisions of 2.3% and 2.2% (relative standard deviations, RSD) for seven times replicate measurement of 0.5 µg L-1 Te(IV) and Te(VI) standard solutions were obtained. The sensitivity was enhanced about 55-fold compared to that using traditional direct solution nebulization. The method was applied for the determination of trace Te in three water samples and two certified reference materials of sediment with satisfactory results. The possible mechanism was investigated. The generation of volatile vanadium along with (CH3)2Te was found in PVG for the first time. The new findings in this work will be helpful for exploration of efficient "sensitizers" in PVG and further expanding the scope of elements amenable to PVG as well.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Early brain injury (EBI) is closely associated with poor prognosis in patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH), with autophagy playing a pivotal role in EBI. However, research has shown that the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway impacts autophagic flux. While the regulatory impact of neuritin on EBI and autophagic flux has been established previously, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the role of the cGAS-STING pathway in neuritin-mediated regulation of autophagic flux following SAH. METHODS: A SAH model was established in male Sprague-Dawley rats via intravascular perforation. Neuritin overexpressions using adeno-associated virus, the STING antagonist "C-176," and the activator, "CMA," were determined to investigate the cGAS-STING pathway's influence on autophagic flux and brain injury post-SAH, along with the neuritin's regulatory effect on STING. In this study, SAH grade, neurological score, haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, brain water content (BWC), sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, Evans blue staining, immunofluorescence staining, western blot analysis, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were examined. RESULTS: Neuritin overexpression significantly ameliorated neurobehavioural scores, blood-brain barrier injury, brain oedema, and impaired autophagic flux in SAH-induced rats. STING expression remarkably increased post-SAH. C-176 and CMA mitigated and aggravated autophagic flux injury and brain injury, respectively, while inhibiting and enhancing STING, respectively. Particularly, CMA treatment nullified the protective effects of neuritin against autophagic flux and mitigated brain injury. CONCLUSION: Neuritin alleviated EBI by restoring impaired autophagic flux after SAH through the regulation of the cGAS-STING pathway.
