Epithelioid glioblastoma (eGBM) is a rare subtype of GBM. Given the update of the definition of GBM, the understanding of the molecular characteristics and prognosis of "true" adult eGBM remains limited. Herein, we retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data of 39 adult eGBM cases. Adult eGBM primarily affected females, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:2.3. The average age of diagnosis was 53 years, and the tumor affected the temporal lobe in 41% of cases (16/39, 41%). Microscopically, the tumors consisted mainly or entirely of epithelioid cells. Perivascular infiltration (10/39, 25.6%) and leptomeningeal dissemination (7/39, 17.9%) were not uncommon. BRAF V600E mutation was detected in 40.9% of cases (n = 9/22). Next-generation sequencing revealed that CDKN2A/B homogeneous deletion was the most frequently mutated gene (8/10, 80%), followed by TERT promoter mutation (7/10, 70%), Cyclin-dependent kinases 4 or 6 (CDK4/6) amplification (5/10, 50%) and BRAF V600E mutation (50%, 5/10). Notably, the incidence of ARID1B mutation in eGBM was 50% (5/10), representing the first report of such a mutation in this subtype of GBM. ARID1B was known to be a subunit of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeler. Chromosome analysis showed a 7+/10- signature in 90% (9/10) cases. Adult eGBM carried a dismal prognosis compared to GBM with IDH and H3 wild-type (typical GBM) (OS: 13.89 vs 24.30 months; P = .003) and even typical GBM without MGMT promoter methylation (OS: 13.89 vs 22.08 months; P = .036). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that adult eGBM harbors a high frequency of the 7+/10- signature and alterations in the MAPK pathway, SWI/SNF complex and cyclin-related genes and portends an extremely poor prognosis.

In brief: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) has an urgent need for reliable prenatal biomarkers. This study profiled the circular RNAs (circRNAs) in PAS placenta and maternal blood and identified two circRNAs can regulate trophoblast cells invasion and serve as noninvasive prenatal biomarkers for PAS prediction. Abstract: PAS is one of the most alarming obstetric diseases with high mortality rates. The regulating mechanism underlying PAS remains to be investigated, and reliable blood biomarkers for PAS have not emerged. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have become important regulators and biomarkers for disparate human diseases. However, the circRNA profiles of PAS were not reported, and the regulatory role and predictive value of circRNAs in PAS were unknown. Here, we comprehensively profiled the circRNAs in the placenta of PAS by transcriptome sequencing and analysis and uncovered 217 abnormally expressed circRNAs. Through competing endogenous RNA network analysis, we found that the target genes of upregulated circRNAs in PAS were enriched in placenta development-related pathways and further uncovered two circRNAs, circPHACTR4 and circZMYM4, that could regulate trophoblast cells invasion and migration in vitro. Finally, we verified that circPHACTR4 and circZMYM4 were also upregulated in the maternal peripheral blood of PAS women before delivery using transcriptome sequencing and RT-qPCR and evaluated their predictive value by ROC curves. We found that circPHACTR4 and circZMYM4 could serve as effective predicting biomarkers for PAS (area under the curve (AUC): 0.86 and 0.85) and propose an improved model for PAS prenatal prediction by combining the conventional ultrasound diagnosis with the new circRNA predictive factors (AUC: 0.91, specificity: 0.89, sensitivity: 0.82).Altogether, this work provides new resources for deciphering the biological roles of circRNAs in PAS, identified two circRNAs that could regulate trophoblast cells invasion during placentation, and revealed two noninvasive diagnostic markers for PAS.

BACKGROUND: There is limited concrete evidence connecting serum uric acid levels to female infertility. Therefore, this study aimed to find out if serum uric acid levels are independently related to female infertility. METHODS: From the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013-2020, a total sample of 5872 chosen female participants between the ages of 18 and 49 were identified for this cross-sectional study. The serum uric acid levels (mg/dL) of each participant were tested, and the reproductive health questionnaire was used to evaluate each subject's reproductive status. Both in the analyses of the full sample and each subgroup, logistic regression models were used to evaluate the relationship between the two variables. A stratified multivariate logistic regression model was used to perform the subgroup analysis based on serum uric acid levels. RESULTS: Infertility was found in 649 (11.1%) of the 5,872 female adults in this study, with greater mean serum uric acid levels (4.7 mg/dL vs. 4.5 mg/dL). Serum uric acid levels were associated with infertility in both the initial and adjusted models. According to multivariate logistic regression, the odds of female infertility were found to be significantly higher with rising serum uric acid levels (Q4 [≥ 5.2 mg/dL] vs. Q1 [≤ 3.6 mg/dL]), adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.59, p = 0.002]. The data suggests that there is a dose-response relationship between the two. CONCLUSIONS: The results from this nationally representative sample from the United States confirmed the idea that there is a link between increased serum uric acid levels and female infertility. Future research is necessary to evaluate the relationship between serum uric acid levels and female infertility and explicate the underlying mechanisms of this relationship.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) occurring in children and adolescence is extremely rare and till present there is a lack of understanding on their clinicopathological and prognostic features of this rare entity. For our study, data of 196 cases children and adolescents with NPC from the past 18 years at a high-volume cancer center from South China were retrospectively analyzed. Half of the evaluated NPC patients (83/166, 50.0%) were staged as Stage IVa disease, whereas 1.2% (2/166), 27.7% (46/166), 16.9% (28/166) and 4.2% (7/166) had Stage II, III, IVb and IVc disease, respectively. Serum EBV EA-IgA ≥1:10 and VCA-IgA ≥1:40 were found in 67.7% (113/167) and 76.6% (128/167) of the evaluated patients, respectively, whereas 56.8% (84/148) of the patients had plasma EBV DNA ≥1000 copies/mL. Histologically, all tumors were classified as nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma (NK-SCC). Immunohistochemistrically, the expression of CK (AE1/AE3), P63, CK5/6 and P40 were observed in 100% (88/88), 93.2% (68/73), 84.1% (58/69) and 63.2% (12/19) of the detected cases, respectively. All cases show similar immunophenotype compared to that occurring in adult patients. All evaluated cases (71/71 100%) harbored EBER. Patients with plasma EBV DNA ≥1000 copies/mL and positive serum EBV antibodies had significantly inferior 3-year OS (88% vs 100%, P = .007) compared to other corresponding groups. The combination of EBV serology and plasma EBV DNA are useful to predict the outcome of patients with NPC in children and adolescents.

AIMS: MYC rearrangements are the main cytogenetic alterations in plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL). We aimed to investigate the relationship between MYC rearrangement and the clinicopathological features of PBL. METHODS AND RESULTS: MYC rearrangements assessed in 13 unpublished single-centre PBL cases, and an additional 85 cases from the literature, with reported MYC rearrangement information individualised by patient, were reviewed. In Asia, PBL was much less commonly diagnosed in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients (27% versus 84%, P = 0.000), with older age (median age at diagnosis: 52 years versus 44 years, P = 0.046) and a lower EBV infection rate (56.8% versus 81.8%, P = 0.049), than in non-Asian regions. Overall, MYC rearrangements were identified in 44 of 98 (44.9%) PBL cases, and IGH was the partner in almost all available cases (30/31, 96.8%), as confirmed with a MYC-IGH fusion probe. The MYC rearrangement rate in HIV-positive cases (33/55, 60.0%) was significantly higher than that in HIV-negative cases (11/38, 28.9%, P = 0.003). Patients with MYC rearrangement showed a trend towards an inferior median survival time (9.6 months versus 15.7 months, P = 0.122) and 2-year overall survival (17% versus 32%, P = 0.238). CONCLUSIONS: MYC rearrangement was frequently identified in PBL patients, and IGH was the partner gene in an overwhelming majority of MYC rearrangements. In addition, the MYC rearrangement rate was significantly higher in HIV-positive PBL patients than that in HIV-negative patients. MYC rearrangement may play an important role in the pathogenesis of HIV-positive PBL, but further studies are required to understand the underlying mechanisms.

BACKGROUND: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a common malignant carcinoma of digestive system with high mortality. RAB, member RAS oncogene family like 6 (RABL6), a member of the RAS subfamily, has been reported as an important molecule in several cancers. However, its potential role in ESCC still remains unclear. METHODS: RABL6 mRNA expression was detected in 93 frozen ESCC samples using quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Immunohistochemistry was applied to evaluate the RABL6 expression in tissue microarray containing 171 pairs of ESCC tissues and paired para-cancerous tissues. We evaluated RABL6 expression and its correlation with clinicopathological characteristics and survival. Subsequently, the impact of RABL6 knockdown on the ability of cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of ESCC cells was investigated by MTS, Focus formation, flow cytometry, Transwell assays, qRT-PCR, western blot, inverted microscope observation and phalloidin staining, respectively. RESULTS: Compared to paired para-cancerous tissues, RABL6 was highly expressed in ESCC. The RABL6 high-expression was associated with worse prognosis. We also revealed silencing of RABL6 caused inhibition of cell proliferation, invasion and migration. Further experiments demonstrated that knockdown of RABL6 suppressed the aggressive biological activities of ESCC by suppressing EMT in ESCC cells. CONCLUSIONS: RABL6 functions as a tumor oncogene in ESCC. It would be a potential biomarker predicting prognosis, and a novelty target for ESCC therapy.

AIM: Several studies have examined the links between maternal obesity and the risk of cerebral palsy (CP) in children, with inconsistent results. The aim of our study was to investigate whether maternal obesity is associated with increased risk of CP in offspring by using meta-analysis. METHOD: PubMed and Web of Science were searched until August 2017. Observational studies relevant to the maternal obesity and risk of CP in children were extracted and compiled. Meta-analyses were performed for different obesity levels and pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were reported. RESULTS: A total of five cohort studies involving 12 324 cases and 7 919 288 participants were included in our meta-analysis. The pooled crude and adjusted ORs (95% CIs) were 1.65 (1.38-1.98) and 1.51 (1.24-1.84) respectively. Additionally, the pooled OR (95% CI) for CP in offspring in relation to maternal obesity class I (body mass index [BMI] 30.0-34.9), class II (BMI 35.0-39.9), and class III (BMI≥40.0) compared with normal weight during prepregnancy or pregnancy was 1.31 (1.15-1.50), 1.65 (1.34-2.02), and 2.37 (1.91-2.94) respectively. INTERPRETATION: This meta-analysis demonstrated that increasing grades of maternal obesity are associated with a higher risk of CP in offspring. WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS: Meta-analysis demonstrates a significant positive association between maternal obesity and the risk of cerebral palsy (CP) in children. Subgroup analysis indicates that higher grades of maternal obesity are associated with increasing risk of CP.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prognosis of fetuses with ventriculomegaly (VM). METHODS: Clinical data were collected from 234 cases of fetal VM diagnosed by ultrasound between March 2010 and July 2016. VM progression was monitored, and karyotyping and infection screening performed. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed where increasing ventricular diameter was noted. Neonatal behavioral neurological assessment (NBNA) was carried out after birth, and Bayley Scales of Infant Development assessment at 6 months. RESULTS: The in utero outcomes of Group A were better than Group B in 173 pregnancies. Isolated VM (IVM) was associated with better prognosis than nonisolated VM (NIVM); the regression rates were 74.6% (59/79) and 52.1% (49/94), respectively (χ2 = 10.222, .006). The NBNA scores were significantly higher in Group A than Group B (χ2 = 4.231, .004), but not significantly different between IVM and NIVM. The composition ratios of both the psychomotor and mental developmental index (PDI and MDI) scores were not significantly different between Groups A and B (Z = 1.869, .062 and Z = 0.826, .409, respectively). Significant differences in in utero outcomes were observed between IVM and NIVM cases in Groups A and B. CONCLUSIONS: Fetal VM prognosis is affected by the width of ventricle, chromosome abnormalities, coexisted abnormalities, and in utero progression.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Published data on the prognostic role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in ovarian cancer are controversial. We conducted this meta-analysis to obtain a more accurate assessment of prognostic significance of NLR in ovarian cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a systematic literature search using the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase up to May 2016. Hazard ratio (HR) and odd ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated. Subgroup analyses were carried out to explore the source of heterogeneity. Statistical analysis was performed using Stata 10.0. RESULTS: A total of 12 studies, consisting of 3,854 patients, which met our criterion were selected in this meta-analysis. Our pooled results showed that high pre-treatment NLR level was significantly associated with poorer overall survival (OS) (HR: 1.69, 95% CI 1.29-2.22) and shorter progression free survival (PFS) (HR 1.63, 95% CI 1.27-2.09). Additionally, increased NLR was also significantly correlated with advanced FIGO stage (OR 2.32, 95% CI1.79-3.00), higher serum level of CA-125 (OR 3.33, 95% CI 2.43-4.58), more extensive ascites (OR 3.54, 95% CI 2.31-5.42) as well as less chemotheraputic response (OR 0.53, 95% CI 0.40-0.70). The findings from most of subgroup meta-analyses were consistent with those from the overall meta-analyses. CONCLUSIONS: Elevated pre-treatment NLR could served as a predicative factor of poor prognosis for ovarian cancer patients.

BACKGROUND: Preterm birth (PTB) has been recognized as a crucial long term risk factor for multiple non-communicable diseases. However, studies between the relationship of PTB and the risk of acute childhood leukemia have yielded inconclusive results. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to systematically review the current literature to investigate whether PTB is associated with increased risk of acute childhood leukemia. METHODS: Three electronic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE) were searched up to December 1st, 2015. Relevant studies reporting the association between PTB and subsequent risk of acute childhood leukemia were included for further evaluation. Statistical analysis was performed using Revmen 5.3 and Stata 10.0. RESULTS: A total of 12 studies for acute childhood leukemia, eight studies for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and seven studies for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) were included in the current meta-analyses. We calculated pooled odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) to evaluate the relationship between PTB and acute childhood leukemia as well as its two subtypes: ALL and AML. Our results suggested that PTB was significantly associated with increased risk of acute childhood leukemia (OR = 1.09, 95% CI = 1.02-1.17, P = 0.01) and AML (OR = 1.42, 95% CI = 1.21-1.67, P < 0.01). However, PTB was not significantly associated with an increased risk of ALL (OR = 1.04, 95% CI = 0.96-1.13, P = 0.29). CONCLUSION: Our data showed that PTB increased the risk of AML. Further studies are required to explore causality and dissect the biological mechanisms involved.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Preeclampsia is a complex multi-system obstetric syndrome and remains one of the leading causes contributing to maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. Previous epidemiological studies regarding the association between chronic hepatitis B virus (CHB) infection and the risk of preeclampsia have reported inconsistent results. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between CHB infection and preeclampsia. METHODS: The electronic database was searched until January 1st, 2016. Relevant studies reporting the association between CHB infection and the risk of preeclampsia were included and for further evaluation. Statistical analysis was performed using Stata 10.0 (Stata Corp). RESULTS: Three observational cohort studies and eight case-control studies, including 11566 preeclampsia patients, were identified. A significant negative association between CHB infection and preeclampsia was observed (odds ratio = 0.77, 95% confidence interval, 0.65- 0.90, P=0.002, fixed-effect model). CONCLUSIONS: Findings from our meta-analysis indicate that CHB infection may decrease the risk of preeclampsia in Asian population. Future prospective cohorts in different countries with larger sample sizes are warranted to ascertain the causality and pathophysiological studies are required to explore the possible biological mechanisms involved.

Uterine tissues contain the efflux transporter P-glycoprotein (P-gp, encoded by Abcb1a/1b gene), but little is known about how it changes through gestation. Our aim was to investigate the expression profile and cellular localization of P-gp in the pregnant, laboring and post-partum (PP) rat uterus. We propose that during pregnancy the mechanical and hormonal stimuli play a role in regulating myometrial Abcb1a/1b/P-gp. Samples from bilaterally and unilaterally pregnant rats were collected throughout gestation, during labor, and PP (n=4-6/gestational day). RNA and protein were isolated and subjected to quantitative PCR and immunoblotting; P-gp transcript and protein were localized by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry. Expression of Abcb1a/1b gene and membrane P-gp protein in uterine tissue (1) increased throughout gestation, peaked at term (GD19-21) and dropped during labor (GD23L); and (2) was upregulated only in gravid but not in empty horn of unilaterally pregnant rats. (3) The drop of Abcb1a/1b mRNA on GD23 was prevented by artificial maintenance of elevated progesterone (P4) levels in late gestation; (4) injection of the P4 receptor antagonist RU486 on GD19 caused a significant decrease in Abcb1 mRNA levels. (5) In situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry indicated that Abcb1/P-gp is absent from myometrium throughout gestation; (6) was expressed exclusively by uterine microvascular endothelium (at early gestation) and luminal epithelium (at mid and late gestation), but was undetectable during labor. In conclusion, ABC transporter protein P-gp in pregnant uterus is hormonally and mechanically regulated. However, its substrate(s) and precise function in these tissues during pregnancy remains to be determined.

BACKGROUNDS/AIMS: Preeclampsia was characterized by excessive thrombin generation in placentas and previous researches showed that thrombin could enhance soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) expression in first trimester trophoblasts. However, the detailed mechanism for the sFlt-1 over-production induced by thrombin was largely unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore the possible signaling pathway of thrombin-induced sFlt-1 production in extravillous trophoblasts (EVT). METHODS: An EVT cell line (HRT-8/SVneo) was treated with various concentrations of thrombin. The mRNA expression and protein secretion of sFlt-1 in EVT were detected with real-time polymerase chain reaction and ELISA, respectively. The levels of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were determined by DCFH-DA. RESULTS: Exposure of EVT to thrombin induced increased intracellular ROS generation and overexpression of sFlt-1 at both mRNA and protein levels in a dose dependent manner. Short interfering RNA (siRNA) directed against PAR-1 or apocynin (an inhibitor of NADPH oxidase) could decrease the intracellular ROS generation and subsequently suppressed the production of sFlt-1 at mRNA and protein levels. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested that thrombin increased sFlt-1 production in EVT via the PAR-1 /NADPH oxidase /ROS signaling pathway. This also highlights the PAR-1 / NADPH oxidase / ROS pathway might be a potential therapeutic target for the prevention of preeclampsia in the future.

The vaginal microbiome is an emerging concern in prenatal health. Because the sampling process of vaginal microbiota may pose potential risks for pregnant women, the choice of sampling site should be carefully considered. However, whether the microbial diversity is different across various sampling sites has been controversial. In the present study, three repeated swabs were collected at the cervix (C), posterior fornix (P), and vaginal canal (V) from 34 Chinese women during different pregnancy stages, and vaginal species were determined using the Illumina sequencing of 16S rRNA tag sequences. The identified microbiomes were classified into four community state types (CSTs): CST I (dominated by L. crispatus), CST II (dominated by L. gasseri), CST III (dominated by L. iners), and CST IV-A (characterized by a low abundance of Lactobacillus, but with proportions of various species previously shown to be associated with bacterial vaginosis). All individuals had consistent CST at the three sampling sites regardless of pregnancy stage and CST group. In addition, there was little heterogeneity across community structures within each individual, as determined by LEfSe, indicating high vaginal microbiome homogeneity at the three sampling sites. The present study also revealed different beta diversity during pregnancy stages. The vaginal microbiome variation among women during trimester T1 (9 ± 2.6 weeks) is larger than that of non-pregnant women and women from other trimesters, as demonstrated by the UniFrac distance (P < 0.05). In particular, the present study is the first one that demonstrates the notably difference of vaginal microbiome of postpartum women compare to women in gestation. These results will be useful for future studies of the vaginal microbiota during pregnancy.

Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a novel adipocyte-derived cytokine playing an important role in the regulation of energy metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Although the association between RBP4 and metabolic dysfunction is well established, studies on the relationship between circulating RBP4 levels and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have yielded inconclusive results. We performed a meta-analysis to investigate whether women with GDM had higher circulating RBP4 levels than the normglycemic pregnant women. PubMed, Web of Science and EMBASE were searched up to 1 August 2014. A total of 14 studies comprised of 884 women with GDM and 1251 normglycemic pregnant women were included. The overall results suggested that maternal circulating RBP4 levels were significantly higher in GDM than their normal controls (SMD: 0.49 µg/ml, 95% CI: 0.23-0.75 µg/ml, p < 0.001, random effect model). However, stratified results indicated that this significant difference only existed in the second/third trimester and was limited to Asian populations. Furthermore, subgroup analysis according to matched maternal age and BMI still demonstrated that GDM had higher circulating RBP4 levels than the normal controls. Our findings suggested that Asian women with GDM had increased circulating RBP4 levels in their second/third trimester.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant astrocytoma with microvascular proliferation, necrosis, CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion, or any combination of these features corresponds to World Health Organization grade 4 according to current criteria. However, the prognostic significance of CDKN2A hemizygous deletion in IDH-mutant astrocytoma is not well established. We undertook a comprehensive study that included assessments of histological and genetic approaches to prognosis for these tumors. Samples from a cohort of 114 patients with extended observation were subjected to histological review and molecular analysis. CDKN2A (9p21) deletion was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization. Overall survival (OS) was calculated via Kaplan-Meier estimation using the log-rank test. Histological grade, Ki-67 index, and the extent of surgical resection correlated with the OS of IDH-mutant astrocytoma patients. Both CDKN2A homozygous deletion and hemizygous deletion were detectable. Patients with CDKN2A homozygous-deletion tumors had the poorest OS; those with CDKN2A hemizygous-deletion tumors had an intermediate OS (p < .001). We then established a novel grading system that combined CDKN2A homozygous and hemizygous deletions with histological grade; the combined grading system was an independent prognostic factor for IDH-mutant astrocytomas. We conclude that CDKN2A homozygous and hemizygous deletion should be combined in a grading system for IDH-mutant astrocytomas.

We develop a new type of heterostructure nanocomposite made of reduced graphene oxide-boron carbon nitride nanosheets (rGO-BCN) by B-C covalent bonds. The rGO-BCN nanocomposite delivers a large specific surface and excellent electrochemical properties, and is then constructed into flexible fabric-based high-performance supercapacitor electrodes based on the microfluidic electrospinning technology.

The efficient and ecofriendly removal of pharmaceutical antibiotics and heavy metal Cr(VI) from water sources is a crucial challenge in current environmental management. Photocatalysis presents a viable environmentally friendly solution for eliminating organic contaminants and heavy-metal ions. In this study, a novel S-scheme CuInS2/ZnIn2S4 (CIS/ZIS) heterojunction was developed using a one-pot solvothermal method. The optimized CIS/ZIS heterojunction exhibited considerably improved photocatalytic activity for the removal of antibiotics and Cr(VI), achieving over 90% removal for both tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) (20 mg/L) and Cr(VI) (20 mg/L) under visible light irradiation. The study also delved into the effect of coexisting inorganic anions and assessed the cyclic stability of the composite photocatalysts. This enhancement mechanism can be delineated into three key elements. First, the incorporation of the narrow-gap semiconductor CuInS2 effectively augmented the photoabsorption capacity. Second, the inclusion of ZnIn2S4 caused an increase in surface active sites. Most importantly, the internal electric field at the interface between CuInS2 and ZnIn2S4 expedited the separation of photogenerated carriers. Furthermore, the results revealed that superoxide radical and photogenerated holes are the primary active substance responsible for TC removal, while photogenerated electrons play a central role in the photoreduction of Cr(VI). To gain insights into the transport pathways of photogenerated carriers, we conducted experiments with nitrotetrazolium blue chloride (NBT) and photodeposited gold. This study offers an innovative approach to enhancing the photocatalytic performance of ternary In-based materials by constructing S-scheme heterojunctions.

LncRNA plays a crucial role in cancer progression and targeting, but it has been difficult to identify the critical lncRNAs involved in colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. We identified FAM83H-AS1 as a tumor-promoting associated lncRNA using 21 pairs of stage IV CRC tissues and adjacent normal tissues. In vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that knockdown of FAM83H-AS1 in CRC cells inhibited tumor proliferation and metastasis, and vice versa. m6A modification is critical for FAM83H-AS1 RNA stability through the writer METTL3 and the readers IGF2BP2/IGFBP3. PTBP1-an RNA binding protein-is responsible for the FAM83H-AS1 function in CRC. T4 (1770-2440nt) and T5 (2440-2743nt) on exon 4 of FAM83H-AS1 provide a platform for PTBP1 RRM2 interactions. Our results demonstrated that m6A modification dysregulated the FAM83H-AS1 oncogenic role by phosphorylated PTBP1 on its RNA splicing effect. In patient-derived xenograft models, ASO-FAM83H-AS1 significantly suppressed the growth of gastrointestinal (GI) tumors, not only CRC but also GC and ESCC. The combination of ASO-FAM83H-AS1 and oxaliplatin/cisplatin significantly suppressed tumor growth compared with treatment with either agent alone. Notably, there was pathological complete response in all these three GI cancers. Our findings suggest that FAM83H-AS1 targeted therapy would benefit patients primarily receiving platinum-based therapy in GI cancers.

The role of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in lymphoma cells of nodular sclerosis classic Hodgkin lymphoma (NScHL) is controversial. Our aim was to explore this and establish a clinically feasible model for risk stratification. We interrogated data from 542 consecutive subjects with NScHL receiving ABVD therapy and demonstrated EBV-infection in their lymphoma cells with EBV-encoded small RNAs (EBERs) in situ hybridization. Subjects were divided into training and validation datasets. As data from the training dataset suggested EBERs-positivity was the only independent prognostic factor for both progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), we developed corresponding prognostic models based on it. Our models showed excellent performance in both training and validation cohort. These data indicate the close association of EBV infection and the outcomes of persons with NScHL receiving ABVD. Additionally, our newly developed models should help physicians estimate prognosis and select individualized therapy.
