INTRODUCTION/AIMS: People with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) frequently report problems with balance, which lead to an increased risk of falls. Evidence is emerging of training interventions to improve balance for people with CMT, but to date all have relied on clinic-based treatment and equipment. This proof-of-concept study explored whether a multi-modal program of proprioceptive rehabilitation and strength training can be delivered at home, to improve balance performance in people with CMT Type 1A. METHODS: Fourteen participants with CMT Type 1A were recruited into this randomized, two-arm study. Baseline assessments included measures of disease severity, posturography, physical function, and patient-reported outcome measurements. All participants received one falls education session. Participants were randomized to either 12 weeks of balance training or 12 weeks of usual activities. The intervention comprised a home-based, multi-sensory balance training and proximal strengthening program, supported by three home visits from a physiotherapist. RESULTS: Thirteen participants completed the study. The intervention was successfully implemented and well tolerated, with high participation levels. Functional measures of balance and walking showed strong effect sizes in favor of the training group. Posturography testing demonstrated moderate improvements in postural stability favoring the intervention group. Inconsistent changes were seen in lower limb strength measures. DISCUSSION: The intervention was feasible to implement and safe, with some evidence of improvement in balance performance. This supports future studies to expand this intervention to larger trials of pragmatic, home-delivered programs through current community rehabilitation services and supported self-management pathways.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Identifying vestibular causes of dizziness and unsteadiness in multi-sensory neurological disease can be challenging, with problems typically attributed to central or peripheral nerve involvement. Acknowledging vestibular dysfunction as part of the presentation provides an opportunity to access targeted vestibular rehabilitation, for which extensive evidence exists. A diagnostic framework was developed and validated to detect vestibular dysfunction, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or vestibular migraine. The specificity and sensitivity of the diagnostic framework was tested in patients with primary mitochondrial disease. METHODS: Adults with a confirmed diagnosis of primary mitochondrial disease were consented, between September 2020 and February 2022. Participants with and without dizziness or unsteadiness underwent remote physiotherapy assessment and had in-person detailed neuro-otological assessment. The six framework question responses were compared against objective neuro-otological assessment or medical notes. The output was binary, with sensitivity and specificity calculated. RESULTS: Seventy-four adults completed the study: age range 20-81 years (mean 48 years, ±SD 15.05 years); ratio 2:1 female to male. The framework identified a vestibular diagnosis in 35 participants, with seven having two diagnoses. The framework was able to identify vestibular diagnoses in adults with primary mitochondrial disease, with a moderate (40-59) to very high (90-100) sensitivity and positive predictive value, and moderate to high (60-74) to very high (90-100) specificity and negative predictive value. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the clinical framework identified common vestibular diagnoses with a moderate to very high specificity and sensitivity. This presents an opportunity for patients to access effective treatment in a timely manner, to reduce falls and improve quality of life.

People with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease often undergo foot and ankle surgery, as foot deformities are common and cause a degree of functional limitations impairing quality of life. Surgical approaches are variable and there are no evidence-based guidelines. A multidisciplinary approach involving neurology, physical therapy and orthopaedic surgery is ideal to provide guidance on when to refer for surgical opinion and when to intervene. This review outlines the range of foot deformities associated with CMT, their clinical assessment, and their conservative and surgical and postoperative management.

BACKGROUND: The addition of qualitative methodology to randomised controlled trials evaluating complex interventions allows better understanding of contextualised factors and their potential influence on trial delivery and outcomes, as well as opportunities for feedback on trial participation to improve future trial protocols. This study explored the experiences of participation in cancer rehabilitation research during active cancer treatment. Participants were people living with haematological cancer myeloma, undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) recruited to the PERCEPT myeloma pilot trial. METHODS: A qualitative semi-structured interview study, embedded within a pilot randomised controlled trial of a physiotherapist-led exercise intervention delivered before, during and after ASCT among people living with myeloma. Transcripts were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. RESULTS: Interviews from 16 trial participants (n = 8 intervention group; n = 8 control group; mean age 61 years, 56% male) were analysed. Four main themes were identified: (1) "It's not just beneficial for me, it's for people after me as well"; (2) Disparities in experience of recovery - expectations, feeling prepared and support; (3) "What I wanted to do was build myself back up and prepare"; (4) Active ingredients - participants' experience of the trial intervention. Participants reported both altruistic and perceived personal gain as motivators for enrolling in the trial. Disappointment caused by allocation to control arm may have led to participants seeking exercise elsewhere, indicating possible contamination of control condition. Disparities in experience of recovery from transplant were evident with intervention participants reporting greater trajectory of recovery. CONCLUSIONS: The findings from this embedded qualitative study highlight numerous considerations required when designing pilot and efficacy trials of complex interventions. The addition of qualitative investigation offers greater understanding of motivations for participation, intervention mechanisms at play as well as effects of participation that may impact interpretation of quantitative outcomes. OBJECTIVES: Sporadic inclusion body myositis (IBM) is a debilitating idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) which affects hand function, ambulation, and swallowing. There is no approved pharmacological therapy for IBM, and there is a lack of suitable outcome measure to assess the effect of an intervention. The IBM scientific interest group under IMACS reviewed the previously used outcome measures in IBM clinical studies to lay the path for developing a core set of outcome measures in IBM. METHODS: In this systematised review, we have extracted all outcome measures reported in IBM clinical studies to determine what measures were being used and to assess the need for optimising outcome measures in IBM. RESULTS: We found 13 observational studies, 17 open-label clinical trials, and 15 randomised control trials (RCTs) in IBM. Six-minute walk distance, IBM-functional rating scale (IBM-FRS), quantitative muscle testing, manual muscle testing, maximal voluntary isometric contraction testing, and thigh muscle volume measured by MRI were used as primary outcome measures. Twelve different outcome measures of motor function were used in IBM clinical trials. IBM-FRS was the most used measure of functionality. Swallowing function was reported as a secondary outcome measure in only 3 RCTs. CONCLUSIONS: There are inconsistencies in using outcome measures in clinical studies in IBM. The core set measures developed by the IMACS group for other IIMs are not directly applicable to IBM. As a result, there is an unmet need for an IBM-specific core set of measures to facilitate the evaluation of new potential therapeutics for IBM.

BACKGROUND: Autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) is first line treatment for newly diagnosed patients with myeloma but often results in functional deficits and reduced quality of life (QOL). Physically active myeloma patients have better QOL, less fatigue and reduced morbidity. This trial aimed to investigate the feasibility of a physiotherapist-led exercise intervention delivered across the continuum of the myeloma ASCT pathway at a UK centre. Initially designed and delivered as a face-to-face trial, the study protocol was adapted to virtual delivery in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A pilot randomised controlled trial of a partly supervised exercise intervention with incorporated behaviour change techniques delivered before, during and for 3 months following ASCT compared to usual care. Face-to-face delivery of the pre-ASCT supervised intervention was adapted to virtually-supervised group classes via video conferencing. Primary outcomes related to feasibility; recruitment rate, attrition and adherence. Secondary outcomes included patient reported measures of QOL (EORTC C30, FACT-BMT, EQ5D), and fatigue (FACIT-F), measures of functional capacity (six-minute walk test (6MWT), timed sit-to-stand (TSTS), hand grip strength, self-reported and objective physical activity (PA). RESULTS: Over 11 months 50 participants were enrolled and randomised. Overall, uptake to the study was 46%. The attrition rate was 34%, mainly related to failure to undergo ASCT. Loss of follow-up for other reasons was low. Secondary outcomes demonstrate potential for the benefit of exercise prior to, during and after ASCT with improvements in QOL, fatigue, functional capacity and PA evident on admission for ASCT and 3 months post-ASCT. DISCUSSION: Results indicate acceptability and feasibility of delivering exercise prehabilitation, in person and virtually within the ASCT pathway in myeloma. The effects of prehabilitation and rehabilitation provision as a component of the ASCT pathway warrants further investigation.

Patient-reported outcome measures engage patients in disease severity measurement and the metrics reported can be meaningful to their lives. The Polyneuropathy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, Monoclonal protein and Skin changes syndrome (POEMS) is a complex multisystem disorder with disabling neuropathy which is distinct from other acquired inflammatory neuropathies. No current POEMS-specific validated disability scales exist. To address this, we have produced a Rasch-built overall disability scale (RODS) specific to POEMS. A 146-item preliminary questionnaire containing relevant activity and participation items for neuropathic disability was applied to 49 clinically stable patients with POEMS from the UK national POEMS cohort. A total of 123 items not fulfilling Rasch model expectations were sequentially removed. The final 23-item POEMS-RODS fulfilled Rasch model expectations and showed acceptable test-retest reliability. The 23-item POEMS-RODS is a disease-specific patient-reported outcome measure able to detect activity limitations within the range of ability demonstrated by the UK POEMS cohort. Larger international studies are needed to confirm the broader applicability and responsiveness of this scale in other countries.

INTRODUCTION/AIMS: Aerobic deconditioning, due to lower levels of physical activity, could impact independence for people with neuromuscular conditions. We report the maximal cardiopulmonary response in a cohort of people with Charcot Marie Tooth disease type 1A (CMT 1A) and inclusion body myositis (IBM). We also explored potential predictors of aerobic capacity with measures of physical impairment and functional performance. METHODS: Participants underwent maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) using a semi-recumbent cycle ergometer. Data were analyzed to determine the peak O2 consumption (VO2 peak), anaerobic threshold (AT), maximum heart rate (MHR), ventilatory equivalent for CO2 slope (VE /VCO2 ), and respiratory exchange ratio (RER). Impairment, functional and patient reported measures were also recorded. Predicted CPET variables were calculated based on published normative data for age, gender, and weight. RESULTS: Twenty-two people with CMT and 17 people with IBM were recruited. Both groups showed significantly lower VO2 peak, MHR, AT, and VE /VCO2 . The CMT group overall performed better than the IBM group, with significantly higher VO2 peak, MHR, and AT, but lower VE /VCO2. Linear regression analysis demonstrated that VO2 peak was related to body fat percentage and 6-min walk distance for both groups, and steps per day for the IBM group. DISCUSSION: Lower than predicted CPET variables were observed that were not explained by cardiopulmonary limitations or reduced effort, implicating peripheral factors in limiting the cycling task. Regression analysis implied prediction of VO2 peak by body fat percentage and 6-min walk distance. Six-minute walk distance could be a potential proxy measure of cardiopulmonary fitness.

Foot deformities are frequently observed in patients with Charcot Marie tooth disease (CMT) and orthopaedic surgery is often required. Currently there is no evidence-based guideline on surgical management and only a few studies which have evaluated long-term outcomes of surgical procedures. The aim of the study was to evaluate longitudinally the effect of foot surgery in a cohort of CMT patients. Twenty-five CMT adult patients were assessed using a comprehensive group of validated scales and questionnaires before and after surgery. A wide range of surgical procedures was performed by one team of dedicated foot ankle orthopaedic surgeons. Foot alignment as measured by the foot posture index, pain, quality of life and callosities significantly improved after one year and the improvement was maintained up to 4 years after surgery. There was a trend towards a reduction in the number of falls post-operatively. Surgery had no effect on fatigue, balance and CMT examination score. Our findings showed significant improvement of pain, foot alignment, callosities and quality of life after surgery and suggested that foot deformity correction in adults with CMT performed in a specialised foot and ankle unit is beneficial.

BACKGROUND: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that people of all ages take regular and adequate physical activity. If unable to meet the recommendations due to health conditions, international guidance advises being as physically active as possible. Evidence from community interventions of physical activity indicate that people living with medical conditions are sometimes excluded from participation in studies. In this review, we considered the effects of activity-promoting interventions on physical activity and well-being in studies, as well as any adverse events experienced by participants living with inherited or acquired neuromuscular diseases (NMDs).  OBJECTIVES: To assess the effects of interventions designed to promote physical activity in people with NMD compared with no intervention or alternative interventions. SEARCH METHODS: On 30 April 2020, we searched Cochrane Neuromuscular Specialised Register, CENTRAL, Embase, MEDLINE, and ClinicalTrials.Gov. WHO ICTRP was not accessible at the time. SELECTION CRITERIA: We considered randomised or quasi-randomised trials, including cross-over trials, of interventions designed to promote physical activity in people with NMD compared to no intervention or alternative interventions. We specifically included studies that reported physical activity as an outcome measure. Our main focus was studies in which promoting physical activity was a stated aim but we also included studies in which physical activity was assessed as a secondary or exploratory outcome. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS: We used standard Cochrane procedures. MAIN RESULTS: The review included 13 studies (795 randomised participants from 12 studies; number of participants unclear in one study) of different interventions to promote physical activity. Most studies randomised a minority of invited participants. No study involved children or adolescents and nine studies reported minimal entry criteria for walking. Participants had one of nine inherited or acquired NMDs. Types of intervention included structured physical activity support, exercise support (as a specific form of physical activity), and behaviour change support that included physical activity or exercise. Only one included study clearly reported that the aim of intervention was to increase physical activity. Other studies reported or planned to analyse the effects of intervention on physical activity as a secondary or exploratory outcome measure. Six studies did not report results for physical activity outcomes, or the data were not usable. We judged 10 of the 13 included studies at high or unclear risk of bias from incomplete physical activity outcome reporting. We did not perform a meta-analysis for any comparison because of differences in interventions and in usual care. We also found considerable variation in how studies reported physical activity as an outcome measure. The studies that reported physical activity measurement did not always clearly report intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis or whether final assessments occurred during or after intervention. Based on prespecified measures, we included three comparisons in our summary of findings. A physical activity programme (weight-bearing) compared to no physical activity programme One study involved adults with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and reported weekly duration of walking during and at the end of a one-year intervention using a StepWatch ankle accelerometer. Based on the point estimate and low-certainty evidence, intervention may have led to an important increase in physical activity per week; however, the 95% confidence interval (CI) included the possibility of no difference or an effect in either direction at three months (mean difference (MD) 34 minutes per week, 95% CI -92.19 to 160.19; 69 participants), six months (MD 68 minutes per week, 95% CI -55.35 to 191.35; 74 participants), and 12 months (MD 49 minutes per week, 95% CI -75.73 to 173.73; 70 participants). Study-reported effect estimates for foot lesions and full-thickness ulcers also included the possibility of no difference, a higher, or lower risk with intervention. A sensor-based, interactive exercise programme compared to no sensor-based, interactive exercise programme One study involved adults with DPN and reported duration of walking over 48 hours at the end of four weeks' intervention using a t-shirt embedded PAMSys sensor. It was not possible to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the intervention from the very low-certainty evidence (MD -0.64 hours per 48 hours, 95% CI -2.42 to 1.13; 25 participants). We were also unable to draw conclusions about impact on the Physical Component Score (PCS) for quality of life (MD 0.24 points, 95% CI -5.98 to 6.46; 35 participants; very low-certainty evidence), although intervention may have made little or no difference to the Mental Component Score (MCS) for quality of life (MD 5.10 points, 95% CI -0.58 to 10.78; 35 participants; low-certainty evidence). A functional exercise programme compared to a stretching exercise programme One study involved adults with spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy and reported a daily physical activity count at the end of 12 weeks' intervention using an Actical accelerometer. It was not possible to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of either intervention (requiring compliance) due to low-certainty evidence and unconfirmed measurement units (MD -8701, 95% CI -38,293.30 to 20,891.30; 43 participants). Functional exercise may have made little or no difference to quality of life compared to stretching (PCS: MD -1.10 points, 95% CI -5.22 to 3.02; MCS: MD -1.10 points, 95% CI -6.79 to 4.59; 49 participants; low-certainty evidence). Although studies reported adverse events incompletely, we found no evidence of supported activity increasing the risk of serious adverse events. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS: We found a lack of evidence relating to children, adolescents, and non-ambulant people of any age. Many people living with NMD did not meet randomised controlled trial eligibility criteria. There was variation in the components of supported activity intervention and usual care, such as physical therapy provision. We identified variation among studies in how physical activity was monitored, analysed, and reported. We remain uncertain of the effectiveness of promotional intervention for physical activity and its impact on quality of life and adverse events. More information is needed on the ITT population, as well as more complete reporting of outcomes. While there may be no single objective measure of physical activity, the study of qualitative and dichotomous change in self-reported overall physical activity might offer a pragmatic approach to capturing important change at an individual and population level.

Twitter is a free, open access social media platform that is widely used in medicine by physicians, scientists, and patients. It provides an opportunity for advocacy, education, and collaboration. However, it is likely not utilized to its full advantage by many disciplines in medicine, and pitfalls exist in its use. In particular, there has not been a review of Twitter use and its applications in the field of neurology. This review seeks to provide an understanding of the current use of Twitter in the field of neurology to assist neurologists in engaging with this potentially powerful application to support their work.

INTRODUCTION: The Inclusion Body Myositis Functional Rating Scale (IBMRFS) is a 10-item clinician-rated ordinal scale developed for people with inclusion body myositis. METHODS: Single observations of the IBMFRS were collected from 132 patients. After Rasch analysis, modifications were made to the scale to optimize fit to the Rasch model while maintaining clinical validity and utility. RESULTS: The original IBMFRS did not fit the assumptions of the Rasch model because of multidimensionality of the scale. Items assessed local dependence, disordered step thresholds, and differential item functioning. Deconstructing the scale into upper limb (IBMFRS-UL) and lower limb (IBMFRS-LL) scales improved fit to the Rasch model. A 9-item scale with the swallowing item removed (IBMFRS-9) remained multidimensional but demonstrated the ability to discriminate patients along the severity continuum. IBMFRS-UL, IBMFRS-LL, and IBMFRS-9 scores were transformed to a 0-100 scale for comparability. DISCUSSION: This analysis has led to the development of 3 optimized versions of the IBMFRS. However, there are no prospective, randomized studies on surgical management, and there is variation in the approaches among centers both within and between countries. METHODS: In this study we assessed the frequency of foot deformities and surgery among patients recruited into the Inherited Neuropathies Consortium (INC). We also designed a survey addressed to orthopedic surgeons at INC centers to determine whether surgical approaches to orthopedic complications in CMT are variable. RESULTS: Foot deformities were reported in 71% of CMT patients; 30% of the patients had surgery. Survey questions were answered by 16 surgeons working in different specialized centers. Most of the respondents were foot and ankle surgeons. There was marked variation in surgical management. DISCUSSION: Our findings confirm that the approaches to orthopedic management of CMT are varied. We identify areas that require further research. Muscle Nerve 57: 255-259, 2018.

RESUMEN

Sporadic inclusion body myositis (IBM) is an acquired muscle disorder associated with ageing, for which there is no effective treatment. Ongoing developments include: genetic studies that may provide insights regarding the pathogenesis of IBM, improved histopathological markers, the description of a new IBM autoantibody, scrutiny of the diagnostic utility of clinical features and biomarkers, the refinement of diagnostic criteria, the emerging use of MRI as a diagnostic and monitoring tool, and new pathogenic insights that have led to novel therapeutic approaches being trialled for IBM, including treatments with the objective of restoring protein homeostasis and myostatin blockers. The effect of exercise in IBM continues to be investigated. However, despite these ongoing developments, the aetiopathogenesis of IBM remains uncertain. A translational and multidisciplinary collaborative approach is critical to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with IBM.

Gait analysis of people with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease revealed proximal adaptive gait strategies to compensate for foot drop. We previously demonstrated that hip flexor muscle fatigue can limit walking endurance. This pilot study used a single-blinded cross over design to investigate the effect of a 16-week home-based programme of resistance training on hip flexor muscle strength. Measures of walking endurance, gait speed, exertion, fatigue, and general activity were also recorded. The exercise protocol was based on American College of Sports Medicine recommendations. A mixed effects model was used for analysis. Twenty-six people finished the study, with average reported exercise participation of 93%. No negative effects of exercise were observed. Significant increase in hip flexor muscle strength was observed on the left, but not the right. No changes were observed in walking speed and endurance measures. This pilot study of home-based resistance training showed a modest improvement in hip strength but only on one side. The lack of a more significant improvement and no improvement in walking measures suggests that this training protocol may not be optimal for people with CMT and that patients may need to stratified differently for training studies in CMT.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the challenges of doing physical examinations and exercises by video, and the communication strategies used by physiotherapists and patients to overcome them. DESIGN: A qualitative study of talk and social actions, examining the verbal and non-verbal communication practices used by patients and physiotherapists. Video consultations between physiotherapists and patients were video recorded using MS Teams, transcribed and analysed in detail using Conversation Analysis. SETTING: Video consultations were recorded in three specialist settings (long-term pain, orthopaedics, and neuromuscular rehabilitation) across two NHS hospitals. PARTICIPANTS: 15 adult patients (10 female, 5 male; aged 20-77) with a scheduled video consultation. RESULTS: Examinations and exercises retain-->were successfully accomplished in all 15 consultations. Two key challenges were identified for physiotherapists and patients when doing video assessments: (1) managing safety and clinical risk, and (2) making exercises and movements visible. Challenges were addressed by through communication practices that were patient-centred and tailored to the video context (e.g., explaining how to frame the body to the camera or adjust the camera to make the body visible). CONCLUSIONS: Video is being used by physiotherapists to consult with their patients. This can work well, but tailored communication strategies are critical to help participants overcome the challenges of remote physical examinations and exercises. CONTRIBUTION OF THE PAPER: This paper is a first to use video-based analysis to determine the challenges of video consulting for doing remote assessments and exercises in physiotherapy settings. It demonstrates how patients and physiotherapists use communication strategies to raise concerns around safety and visibility and how they overcome these concerns.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A), caused by a duplication of PMP22, is the most common hereditary peripheral neuropathy. For participants with CMT1A, few clinical trials have been performed; however, multiple therapies have reached an advanced stage of preclinical development. In preparation for imminent clinical trials in participants with CMT1A, we have produced a Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA), known as the CMT-Functional Outcome Measure (CMT-FOM), in accordance with the FDA Roadmap to Patient-Focused Outcome Measurement to capture the key clinical end point of function. METHODS: Participants were recruited through CMT clinics in the United States (n = 130), the United Kingdom (n = 52), and Italy (n = 32). To derive the most accurate signal with the fewest items to identify a therapeutic response, a series of validation studies were conducted including item and factor analysis, Rasch model analysis and testing of interrater reliability, discriminative ability, and convergent validity. RESULTS: A total of 214 participants aged 18-75 years with CMT1A (58% female) were included in this study. Item, factor, and Rasch analysis supported the viability of the 12-item CMT-FOM as a unidimensional interval scale of function in adults with CMT1A. The CMT-FOM covers strength, upper and lower limb function, balance, and mobility. The 0-100 point scoring system showed good overall model fit, no evidence of misfitting items, and no person misfit, and it was well targeted for adults with CMT1A exhibiting high inter-rater reliability across a range of clinical settings and evaluators. The CMT-FOM was significantly correlated with the CMT Examination Score (r = 0.643; p < 0.001) and the Overall Neuropathy Limitation Scale (r = 0.516; p < 0.001). Significantly higher CMT-FOM total scores were observed in participants self-reporting daily trips and falls, unsteady ankles, hand tremor, and hand weakness (p < 0.05). DISCUSSION: The CMT-FOM is a psychometrically robust multi-item, unidimensional, disease-specific COA covering strength, upper and lower limb function, balance, and mobility to capture how participants with CMT1A function to identify therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is the most common inherited peripheral neuropathy and many patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth are women of childbearing age. Guidelines for managing pregnancy in Charcot-Marie-Tooth are lacking. Aims: To assess the impact of pregnancy on Charcot-Marie-Tooth and how Charcot-Marie-Tooth affects pregnancy, delivery and postnatal care. Methods: A retrospective questionnaire exploring disease course during pregnancy, delivery, pregnancy complications, anaesthetic management and puerperium was administered to 92 patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth and related disorders. Results: Worsening of Charcot-Marie-Tooth symptoms were reported in 37% of pregnant patients which resolved after delivery in half of the patients. No significant increase in pregnancy, delivery and anaesthetic complications were observed and the type of delivery did not significantly differ from the normal population. Conclusions: While these results are reassuring, ideally an international prospective study should be done to confirm these results and to develop practice guidelines on the management of pregnancy in Charcot-Marie-Tooth.
