Tinea capitis causes hair loss, scaling, erythema, and impetigo-like lesions. It is the most common dermatophyte infection found in children under the age of 12, especially in African Americans. A good knowledge and understanding of the dosages, duration, and potential side effects of different antifungals is important for managing tinea capitis.

Keratoacanthomas are neoplasms of the skin and mucous membranes. Their nature continues to fuel controversies about the benign versus malignant nature of these tumors. The characteristics of keratoacanthomas (both the sporadic and syndromic types), the controversies about the benign versus malignant nature of keratoacanthomas, and current treatment options for keratoacanthomas are discussed.

Hidrocystomas, eccrine and apocrine, are rare cystic lesions that form benign tumors of the sweat glands. In this clinical review, we present a "classic" case of hidrocystoma and review the main epidemiologic, histologic, and clinical features. We also review the effectiveness of experimental treatment methods and present information about associated syndromes and differential diagnosis, focusing especially on hidrocystomas' resemblance to basal cell carcinoma.
